This is a brief, mostly visual treatment analysis for my group's music video for Weezer - Memories. The point of a treatment is to give a visual representation of the kind of graphics and shooting methods one would like in their own music video. We have just simply taken some images off of Google to represent the kind of colours, contrasts, images and scenes we'd like to see in our own music video.

2. My choice of song is "Paia" by a band
called Wild ones and my artist is called
(insert name here ect...). To my
understanding the concept of the song is
the nostalgia of a relationship and the
grandual exceptance of it all being over
and done with. My idea for the song is for
the character to explore area's memories
have been created and all the nostalgia
comes back but it allows closure for them.
3. Concept of the song
◦ As previously said the concept of the song is nostalgia of an ended relationship. The video is
going to be entirely narrative to get the point of the song across, which is closure. I plan to have
my character explore places that they went to with their partner and it creates the sort of
nostalgic feeling i was aiming for. It also matches with the chorus of the song "I’ve had this
dream before I wish I had it more I think you have it too. You’ll wait out by the car the sun shone
on my arm I beckon you into I’ll open up the door I never wanted more" These lyrics hint
towards wanting that relationship back but having to come to terms that it's over but the
character keeps reliving what they did together but in the end
4. Genre type.
◦ My choice of song is Indie and it is targeted at those who enjoy indie music mostly those who
are in between the age gap of 15-20 year olds and those who enjoy going to festivals. They will
probably enjoy other bands such as Arctic monkeys, Florence and the machine, Tigers Jaw,
Two Door Cinema Club and Mumford and Sons ect...
5. My influences.
There was only ever one influence for my
music video and it was another A2 music video
i found online. The style was very simplistic
and influences my ideas a lot. For example it
used a lot of slow motion clips and a lot of clips
that overlaped each other which created a
trippy effect which i enjoyed very much. It had
been edited into a grainy black and white
effect which i thought gave the video a very
cinematic look. These basic gave the set ideas
I wanted. I decided I wanted to use some slow
motion to catch some of the elements better
and when it came to editing the video I wanted
to put it in black and white to give it an
indie/grunge look.
6. Which conventions will I use?
I’ve decided to use 3 of Andrew Goodwin’s conventions because I feel they are the most
suitable for my video.
I plan to use the first convention of the difference between the lyrics and the visuals. Because
most of my video is of memories obviously the visuals will be a tad different to what the lyrics
are saying.
The second convention I plan to use is the third ideology which is iconography. They way my
character dresses and the props i plan on the using will really set a certain look for them that
will make it regonisable.
And, finally I plan to use the predominance of the close up to make the emotion of the lyrics
show through the expression of the face. The close up shots will also allow the watcher to focus
on who is the main character.
7. How will I use the forms for the performer?
I plan to use the indie/grunge style to create the iconography I want. For example ,I want my
character to wear a plaid shirt, boots and a pair of ripped jeans, and the use of props which is a
bike.
My locations will set the look of the genre which is indie. I plan to use several locations. A
waterfall, a cemetery and a forest. To set the scene I will use a mixture of pan movements, tilts,
close up shots, medium shots, extreme close ups and many more. The extreme close up’s will
allow to use the predominance of the close up conventions. The locations will also allow me to
use the difference between lyrics and visuals because the lyrics hint towards deja vu and
nostalgia happening. I’m going to manipulate that into the idea of memories
The editing will allow me to put all of the elements together and i will be able to set the effects
once the video is completed to get the overall grungy look.
