The document outlines initial plans for a music video for the song "Chewing Gum" by Nina Nesbitt. It discusses choosing the song and actor Harriet Laban. Multiple locations are selected for filming, including a woodland area, a room with a black backdrop, and a kitchen. A storyboard was created but the document suggests switching to a shot list for clearer planning. Camera techniques like Golden Hour will be used. The narrative will show the actor portraying different "identities" through stereotypical clothing to represent lyrics about changing flavors like chewing gum. Performance outfits will be modern pop style.

Initial ideas music video
1. Initial Ideas Music Video
I began by creating a moodboard, through compiling all
these images I had inspiration when it came to creating
my storyboard.
2. My Song
I chose to use the song ‘Chewing Gum’ by Nina Nesbitt
I chose this song as it’s part of the Pop genre which from my research into the
audiences favourite genre was shown to be the most popular.
The fast paced rhythm throughout the song will allow me to create an creative
music video with a quick pace which will fit the genre. However some sections
of the song slow down the pace which will allow me to fit in longer shot which
will make the video more dynamic and interesting to watch as there will be a
difference in pace.
The actor I plan on using for the music video is Harriet Laban. I chose to
use Harriet as she is familiar with the song. Harriet also lives locally which
means that it will be easier to film as she won’t have to plan on travelling
to and from the filming locations.

3. Location
For my music video I am using multiple locations to shoot:-
One of the locations is a local woodland area, I chose this location as it will add something different
from the rest of the music video. As it will offer a lot of outdoor light, I won’t have to worry about the
shots being too dark. However, of the issues of filming is this location is that there may be too much
light that the actress just looks like a white blur and therefore I will have to be careful what time of day I
film at. Another issue is that as the area is a public area, I will have to be careful not to disrupt the
environment or anyone else using the area.
My second location is room in my house which will be set up with a black backdrop and coloured lights,
I will be using this location for the performance elements of the music video. One issue with this
location is that there may be an issue of the quality of the music video, however, I have practiced taking
shots with this set up with different combinations of the coloured lights. I found the quality of the shots
was high and that this wouldn’t be an issue.
Another location I will be using is a kitchen, this will be for the narrative portion. However I will have to
be careful at what time of day I film as although there is a large amount of natural light, if there isn’t
much light the shots will be too dark to be able to see what is happening in the shot.
4. Storyboard
I have completed my storyboard. This was useful to create a first plan of
what will happen in my music video. However I only felt it was useful to an
extent as I didn’t feel it was a very clear way of presenting the shots I had
to film.
A solution to this is to create a shot list as this is a very clear and easy to
read way of seeing what shots I have to film. I can then see what shots I
can film in that particular location easily. For my shot list I am going to use
these titles.
5. Camera Techniques
As part of my research I looked into photography filming techniques such
as Golden Hour and silhouette.
From researching these techniques I have more inspiration on how to use
the different styles to make my video more interesting. For example for
some of my narrative I plan to feature some Golden Hour photography.
6. Fashion
As part of the narrative in my music video, the artist appears in many
different “identities” changing them as she gets bored with them, acting as
a metaphor for the lyrics “I’m just chewing gum until the flavours gone”.
The different identities shown through the narrative focus on stereotypes
such as the ‘girly girl’ and the ‘artsy’ type. I will show these through
stereoptyped clothing.
The performance outfit will be a modern fashion style to reflect the Pop
genre, the outfit will include a leather jacket, a plain t-shirt, jeans and
trainers.
