Multimedia elements :

Text
• Text is the most widely used and flexible means of
presenting information on screen and conveying ideas. The
designer should not necessarily try to replace textual
elements with pictures or sound, but should consider how
to present text in an acceptable way and supplementing it
with other media .
Images
• Photographs, taken either by
digital or analog means, are
an important part of
multimedia productions. Well-
placed visual aids can explain
concepts with clarity.
• Two types of image : still
images and animated
Audio
• Sound is perhaps the most
sensuous element of
multimedia. It is meaningful
"Speech" in any language from
a whisper to a scream. It can
provide the listening pleasure of
music, the startling accent of
special effects, or the ambience
of a mood-setting background
• Some types od audio : WAV ,
MP3 , WMA .
• An example : a short story audio

video
Is the technology of capturing,
recording, processing, transmitting,
and reconstructing moving
pictures.
Video is more towards photo
realistic image sequence / live
recording as in comparison to
animation.
Video also takes a lot of storage
space. So plan carefully before you
are going to use it.
An example : evernote introduction

Animation
• Animated images were
introduced to the
computer world shortly
after the still images.
They represent a series of
still images shown in a
quick succession, giving
the user the idea of an
animation. In the Internet
world, animations were
introduced by animated
GIF files
Interactivity
• The newest form of multimedia, interactivity, is a
computer-based tool which allows users to choose to learn
different parts of information on their own terms. By
highlighting or choosing links and sections, users can
manipulate the information environment, examining
whatever knowledge is important to them
Multimedia uses
• There are a number of fields where
multimedia could be of use. Examples are:-
– Business
– Education
– Entertainment
Etc..
Multimedia In Education

represent and express their prior knowledge.

opportunities.

• Realistic Approach
• Trendy
• Evaluation
• Cost-effective
Disadvantages of using
Multimedia
• Costly
• Time Consuming
• Accessibility
• Distracting
It can be expensive and
require more time to
create .
