The Cross and the Swtichblade
In my opinion, I think I can partly identify with David Wilkerson because of the way he treated
people. I m a girl of my words, what ever I say, I will do. David Wilkerson said he wanted to help
Nicky, and that is what he did. I m not a 100% peace maker, but I know when to be mature and bring
peace and I know when to be loud and noisy. There is a time, in a place.
Also, the fact that David wanted to make someone s life better and make them realize that
god/love/energy is the power of all humanity. I try to do that. I try my hardest, to make everyone feel
special and love themselves.
I have many perspectives of the movie. Though, the feeling that often returns is fear. I loved the movie
because it is was very inspirational, but I felt fear because this was what our world was a long time
ago and it still is now. I felt that the movie was describing reality.
I said the movie was inspirational because if someone tries hard enough, they can change you in a
negative and positive way, but if you try twice as hard, you can change yourself in which ever way
you desire. The movie itself might have changed people lives, you saw the point of views from both
sides. Negative and positive. Now its your turn to determine that path you wish to seek.
David Wilkerson had done a lot of great things. I know a lot of people that are based off David
Wilkerson. What I mean by based off, I m implying that some folks act like David Wilkerson, think
like David Wilkerson and believe in what

The At The Seton Hall Community
This project was chosen simply because the members of our group saw a need that we
thought most students would also see as useful to the Seton Hall community. All 5 members of
our group are commuter students who wish their was a better commuter lounge that was truly
targeted to fulfill the needs of all commuter students and give us a reason to stay on campus after
our classes ended or in between classes during each school day. We originally discussed a variety of
ways that would benefit commuter students. Some of these ideas included, better commuter cafe, more
commuter based events held in one specific room, and a commuter printing area that is just for
commuter students to print. These ideas were generated by all team ... Show more content on

V. Implementation Plan
In order to upgrade the commuter lounge at Seton Hall, it is important to develop an implementation
plan. Having an implementation plan will help us better understand the steps we have to take in order
to get the ball rolling. The implementation plan will also help us keep track of where our progress is
and what steps we have completed. The implementation plan we created will have four different
components: how we will go about implementing our idea, the steps we need to follow to implement
our idea, who would need to be involved, and the communication of our plan to others.
The way we will go about implementing our idea is rather simple. In order to upgrade the commuter
lounge, it is important to gather information about the needs of the commuter student community here
at Seton Hall. Conducting a school wide survey of all the commuter students with questions that will
target what these students look for in a university being, what the university is lacking, what they
would like to see be improved at Seton Hall, among other various questions will give us an idea of
what to include in the new commuter lounge. This survey will help us establish if there is a need for
an upgraded commuter lounge, as we believe there definitely is. Once the need is figured out, we

The Untethered Soul By Michael Singer
Get Rid Of All That Keeps You From Living Life To The Fullest At some point, we have all
constructed walls with which to protect ourselves. Every part of your life has been as a result of your
fears you have made your life to feel as safe as possible to avoid any of the conflicts raging inside you.
It s an unconscious thing, but it s something we all do. Michael Singer provides an excellent analogy
of this in the book The Untethered Soul. A person has a thorn piercing a nerve in their arm, which
means any contact with it causes crippling pain. So, how can this person live a life without pain?
Protect themselves, a sleep device is necessary to protect the thorn as bed won t do. Physical contact is
a big no no, so a protective device will solve that. Okay, it isn t comfortable, but it s protective. The
person learns how to manage their life around the thorn, controlling their evnrionment so they are
completely free from the thorn. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is a life built around a problem, rather than solving it. Wouldn t you just remove it instead? This
is a perfet analogy because this is what we do in our lives, we have our own thorns that we construct
around and protect ourselves from. Whether it s self doubt, fears, insecurities or trauma from the past.
As soon as something brushes that thorn you push it down as deeply as possible rather than allowing
yourself to experience the pain and let it go. The

What Are The Techniques Used In The Brief Wondrous Life Of...
Description of characters, in any story, goes well beyond their physical traits or personality. The Brief
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz is a novel in which each character possesses their own
multifaceted culture. The various qualities that make up each unique character are brought to life
through Diaz utilization of juxtaposition, diction, and tone throughout the literary work. Juxtaposition
is a stylistic device used by Diaz to highlight differences between two specific elements. The two
characters portrayed in this excerpt are Beli s friends from the restaurant, Lillian and Indian Benny.
Lillian is described to have rancor against the world (Diaz 106), a character whose happiness has
clearly gone down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negative feelings surrounding Lillian lead the reader to believe that events in her life must have
occurred to make her think that way, leading to her cultural background. Similarly, words that sound
almost disappointed, like sad airs, and quiet, meticulous, stress the idea that Indian Benny has been let
down in his past, and has cast aside the idea of taking charge for himself again. Diaz uses the ironic
phrase spectacular demolition of dreams to lighten the mood of the passage, adding the feeling that
Indian Benny has watched his dreams disappear in front of his eyes and accepted it, knowing there
was nothing he could do to change it. Diaz s diction in this excerpt is carefully chosen so that each
word gives the reader insight into the character s past, into what makes up their

Breastfeeding Issues Essay
Breastfeeding issues
It is quite essential for the mother to nurse her own child by herself, there would be many factors
causing a problem while breastfeeding her child. It s common to face challenges at this age; I would
be jotting down some common breastfeeding issues and solutions to them as well. If these won t help,
it is advisable that you visit a medical expert nearby.
Baby doesn t latch
It can turn out to be frustrating things to deal having a baby that won t latch. It is one of the most
common problems.
The correct way to get your baby to latch is by getting naked from the waist up. Get your baby to a
semi reclining position only in its diaper. Keep his mouth on your chest, as soon as the baby is ready,
he might scoot down to the breast and should latch on. Skin to skin is a magical cure for a non
latching baby to get it latched. If you still have latch problems breastfeeding, consult help.
Sometimes, it is common that the baby sleeps within a few minutes after he gets latched, you might be
concerned whether he/she is even eating or not, the best way to figure that out is waking him/her up
and giving an eat signal, the way to do that is doing breast compressions allowing milk to flow, do that
gently so that you do not bruise yourself. The baby might respond to this by swallowing or sucking,
let go as soon as the sucking stops. Sometimes stroking the baby under his/her chin can also
encourage the baby to suck.
Latching pain
It is not normal to feel outright pain;

Foreign Jennifer Bailey (March 11, 2008) stated that the provider will supply you with software for
tracking each employee s pay rate, deductions, and vocation time. Once you enter the information for
the pay period, the software dials into the provider s server and transmits the information. Many
companies used a dedicated computer that is not connected to the company network; the direct
connection to the provider is not susceptible to the hackers, internet bugs, or internal snoops. Some
providers also offer web based employee payroll data entry. You enter employee information on a
secure web page, which feeds directly to the provider. This method is gaining acceptance but is still
less popular than modem based communication. Patricia Fusco (November 19, 2004) stated that the
term payroll encompasses every employee of a company who receives a regular wages or other

Solar Power Vs. Wind Power
Have you ever thought about green energy? Well if you have, I am sure that you have heard of solar
power and wind power. There are also other forms of green energy, but they are not used as much as
solar or wind power, but solar vs, wind power is one the most debated topics in green energy. This
topic is controversial because the world is beginning to switch to renewable green energy and people
and politicians are debating which energy source they should use. Solar power is a better option than
wind power.
There are many reasons why solar power is better than wind power. One of the reasons is that solar
panels take less maintenance than wind turbines. Standard warranties normally last 25 years; and this
includes any repairs and damages that could occur to the solar panel. An example of this is if a tree
were to fall onto a group of solar panels from a storm and it was within the 25 year warranty, then the
company that made the solar panel would come and repair or replace the broken or damaged panels.
Wind turbines have shorter warranties from the manufacturers, and this should make people less
certain of their reliability. The solar panel companies also have a guarantee that a solar panel s
efficiency won t drop below a certain percentage over its lifespan, this percentage is normally in the
range of 85 90% efficiency. Also, solar panels are made of tempered glass which is made to withstand
hail and other damaging weather. Solar panels don t have any moving parts like a wind

Protest Music
Music is a popular form of art that uses sounds to express ideas and emotions through the elements of
rhythm, melody, harmony, and color (Dictionary). Not only is it used for entertainment purposes but
artists also use music to voice their opinions and get messages across to their listeners. Protest songs
are based in the philosophy that social protest, intended to achieve social change, is the fundamental
purpose of music, states Lawrence M. Berger (Berger 58). Protest music is a form of nonviolent
protesting that raises awareness of social issues that occur in today s society in a peaceful manner.

the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016 (Love 320). Lamar s album To Pimp a Butterfly

Elements of Religious Traditions
All religions and beliefs are different. Some religions share the same characteristics, while some do
not. Religion varies from culture to culture. Certain religions worship a divine being, have a sacred
book, or commandments which they follow. Shinto, for example, does not have a set of
commandments, nor does it preach a moral code; Zen Buddhism does not worship a divine being; and
many tribal religions have no written sacred scripture (Molloy, 2010).
There are three main religions that believe in a divine being (God), have a sacred book, and follow
certain commandments. The first religion, Judaism, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sacred space is associated with the center of the entire universe, where power and holiness are
strongest and where we can go to renew our own strength. In native religions, sacred space may
encompass a great mountain, a volcano, a valley, a lake, a forest, a single large tree, or some other
striking natural site (Molloy, 2010). Sacred space can also be constructed into a symbolic shape, like a
circle, square, or a group of stones, like the Stonehenge in England. Sacred space can also be a church,
synagogue, or any place of worship depending on the religion and its beliefs.
Some native religions see everything in the universe as being alive, a concept known as animism. The
life force (Latin: anima ) is present in everything and is especially apparent in living things trees,
plants, birds, animals, and human beings and in the motion of water, the sun, the moon, clouds, and
wind. But life force can also be present in apparently static mountains, rocks, and soil. Other native
religions, while more theistic, see powerful spirits in nature, which temporarily inhabit natural objects
and manifest themselves there (Molloy,2010). Many religions use things, like water, mountains, fire,
trees, the sun, the moon, and other things in nature as a symbolism in their religious beliefs; some
even have statues that have symbolic meaning in their religions. For example, water,

Father Son Relationships In Things Fall Apart
Every father should remember that one day his son will follow his example instead of his advice. This
quote by Charles F Kettering embodies what a father son relationship really is. A father is someone a
son looks up to, whether in a good or bad light depends on the situation. Father son relationships can
take two paths, one where the son does everything the father hates and the others were the son does
everything the father does. Fathers play a major role in their son s life with examples of the
relationship found throughout the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe in the characters of
Okonkwo, Nwoye and Unoka. For better or worse Unoka played a major role in Okonkwo s life. It
was fear of himself, lest he should be found to resemble his father. (Achebe 13). Throughout the
entirety of Okonkwo s life, his relationship with his father would affect his decisions which were
always based on the question, Would my father do this? , and if he would he would do the opposite.
Okonkwo viewed his father as a failure and did not want to even be seen as being related to him.

13) Okonkwo s constant shows of how a man should be really had the opposite effect on Nwoye.
Nwoye developed into a boy that resembled his father in the way he acted, and that bothered
Okonkwo. The relationship between Okonkwo and Nwoye shows that not only does the father son
relationship affect the son it also affects his son and so

Anti-War Pacifism
Pacifism covers an array of views and there are many subcategories of pacifism, some of which I will
cover, but the main definition of the word pacifism is the opposition to war and/or violence. Perhaps
the most famous use of the word pacifism is found in the Sermon on the Mount , where Jesus claims
the peacemakers are blessed. In this passage, the Greek word eirenopoios is translated into Latin as
pacifici, which means those who work for peace. One common and simple argument for pacifism
among religious groups or god fearing people is the argument that god s revealed words says, through
the bible, Thou shalt not kill.
Universal pacifists are morally opposed to all violence, not just killing. And many universal pacifists
derive their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Germans, instead of being resisted by force of arms, had been passively permitted to establish
themselves wherever they pleased, the halo of glory and courage surrounding the brutality of military
success would have been absent, and public opinion in Germany itself would have rendered any
oppression impossible. He taught non resistance as proper defense to violence. For such antiwar
pacifists, all participation in war is morally wrong.
A universal and unavoidable product of war is that soldiers get killed. Most people accept these
killings as a necessary evil and that the ends justify the means. If the war is justifiable ,the killing of
enemy soldiers is deemed as a necessary triumph of what is right. If the war is unjustified, it is seen as
honorable to fight for one s country, whether you agree with them or not. But antiwar pacifists do not
take the lives of soldiers for granted. Everyone has a right to life and killing on the battlefield is a
direct violation of that right. In a standard interpretation of basic rights, it is never morally justifiable
to violate a right in order to produce some good. In war, the argument goes, kill or be killed, and that
type of killing is killing in self defense. But, according to anti war pacifists, killing in the name of self
defense during times of war cannot be justified unless a) they had no other way to protect their

The Sauron of Santo Domingo
The many references by Junot Diaz to J.R.R. Tolkien s universe in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar
Wao prove to be more than just an allusion to the fantastical works. The recurring comparisons of the
Trujillato to the power of Sauron are more than just metaphors. They are descriptions. Diaz uses his
references to describe people and situations, in real life, that have no other way of being described.
The first direct quote of Oscar de Leon is, What more sci fi than Santo Domingo? What more fantasy
than the Antilles? (6). Diaz gives direct meaning to this statement through Yunior s knowledge and
love of the speculative genre, which he picked up from Oscar, and parallels the world we live in with
the fantastical world of Middle Earth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Shelob lives in Sauron s domain, he does not have any direct control over her. Also, just as
Shelob never hesitates to prey on both man and orc, so too La Fea cheated everyone she did business
with, including her brother (139). Diaz uses the allusion to explain even what the sister of Trujillo
thinks, knowing that Shelob does not like to kill her prey right away, instead stinging them and leaving
them paralyzed before she actually kills them. This method is used against Beli as well; when La Fea
orders her orcs to capture Beli, she is beaten to the brink of death, but not killed. The perfection and
detail of Diaz s allusion goes much deeper than a simple metaphor, and actually defines who this
character is.
When Tolkien originally wrote The Lord of the Rings, he did so as reference to World War II, which
was ongoing at the time. For him, Sauron was a representation of Hitler; the gaze of His Eye, the
spread of industrialization and destruction from the war. For Diaz, Sauron is Trujillo, the gaze of His
Eye, the domination he exerted, as well as the anonymity of his secret police. It was one thing for Diaz
to make the comparison of Trujillo to Sauron, but he now affirms his argument by adding figurative
subtext to it. Diaz writes that Trujillo s beloved Morgul Lords [were the

Organ And Tissue Regeneration And Organ Systems
In the human body, the integration of cells into tissues, organs and organ systems is the propelling
force behind maintaining homeostasis. Due to the intricate relationship of organ systems with each
other, a dysfunction in one organ might have a domino effect on other tissues and organs within the
body and since the human body is far from perfect, mutations, drugs, or pathogens may lead to
cellular damage at a microscopic level, which could then lead to the deterioration of organs at a
macroscopic level. In the past, organ failure was fatal and very little could be done to reverse the
process. However, thanks to the integration of various disciplines with present day technology, organs
and tissues can be regenerated through a multitude of distinct procedures involving a team of
individuals across various professions. Without the incorporation of the works of doctors,
mathematicians, physicists, material scientists, biochemists, and molecular biologists, these life saving
procedures may have not been possible. Organ and tissue regeneration is prevalent in many aspects of
nature, such as in the regeneration of starfish arms or planarians. In fact, according to Mayo Clinic, the
human liver is also known to regenerate itself in response to mild damage. However, the damage to
organs and tissues can be irreversible, such as extensive liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis or excessive
alcohol consumption or a severe myocardial infarction that can lead to the death of heart tissue.

First Grade Classroom Observation
Today I went to Sunrise Elementary to observe Ms. Thune s first grade classroom. The teacher was
extremely friendly and has only been teaching for three years. Right away we headed to recess to pick
up the students who were patiently waiting in line. It was a class size of twenty first graders and I
quickly realized the teacher was super personable! I was surprised right away because the students did
not go to their desks, instead they headed towards the big mat on the floor in front of the promethean
board. I thought that was a good idea because each child had a lily pad they sat on that was a part of
the mat which helped them decipher their space. The whole room was themed around frogs and

there was forty first graders together for Science class. The other class of first graders joined our class
and the substitute teacher had a harsher approach and got upset easier with students. During the
Science they split up into groups for a project to build a tower out of candy gummies and toothpicks.
The toothpicks I thought were probably not the best idea because of safety reasons and many students
complained about their sticky fingers. When the other class joined it was noisy and Ms.Thune had a
lot of patience. At one point a little girl screamed across the room that someone else was her learning
partner and made a scene. Ms.Thune did a great job resolving the conflict by personally going over to
student after the scene died down. There was also a student with disabilities who joined the class for

it worked well in their classroom atmosphere. When teaching special needs students they have a

Allegories In Dante Alighieri
About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity. But
the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the average
authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it shows in his
writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader overthink every
word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieri descriptively crafts three allegories of Francesca, the city of
Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning submerged underneath
the cover story of Dante s version of Hell.
Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger
picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that Florence
is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s description of
Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so many sinners living
there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where they ll all end,/ the citizens of
that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man? (Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he
views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have
much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that
they will later be found in Hell. He used the word divided to show that there is a big controversy,
which split the city of Florence, as he explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he
doesn t believe that there is a single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates
the end of the sentence with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell
because of all the sinners there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it
is basically equivalent to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence
shows that Dante doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding
sinners to Hell. Everyone commits sins

It s Time To Eliminate High School Dropouts
Eliminate the high school dropout rate! The high school dropout rate increases each year. Students that
do not want to do their work take the easy way out and a couple of years down the road they work at
Mc. Donalds. These students that dropout regret that they dropped out and realize that they could have
a better life if they would have graduated. The high school dropout rule should be eliminated because
high school dropouts are more likely to earn less money, most high school dropouts end up in jail, and
students that do not graduate cannot go to college and find a high paying or average job. Dropouts
earn less money than high school graduates. According to pbs.org, the average dropout can expect to

Most high school dropouts have jobs as janitors or work at a fast food restaurant. This is a trend
because if people do not get a high school diploma, then no good jobs will offer. Adults with a
diploma or even college schooling are proven to get better jobs than dropouts. If the dropout rule is
eliminated students will get a diploma and have better jobs. The article aypf.org, refers dropouts are
less likely to have a job and those who do earn less, on average, than high school graduates ( apyf.org
). This shows that a high amount of dropouts do not even have jobs and the remainder that do are not
wealthy by any means. Critics may argue that without dropouts the low paying jobs would not be
filled. If there was no one working at fast food restaurants like Mc. Donalds or stores like walmart it
would be difficult to find food. This would be terrible because people would have to drive extremely
far to find food. If everyone was wealthy people would fight over the well paid jobs.Furthermore, this
would be an enormous problem because not everyone would get a job. Also, if there were no dropouts
then everybody would be spoiled and get everything they wanted. This would not be good because
everybody would want a

Marching Band Essay
Roll those feet! Keep those toes high! Square your shoulders! Keep the tempo moving! This can be
heard by directors, in most marching band rehearsals, as the band is racing around the field while
playing mentally demanding music. Competitive marching band, the highlight of some high schoolers
fall season, is defined by Merriam Webster as a group of musicians who play instruments while
marching together at a parade or sports event ( Marching Band ). In comparison a sport is defined as a
contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and
compete against each other ( Sports ). High school competition band is where a band practices from

Not only this, as competition marching bands are performing, the members are required to keep their
shoulders perfectly parallel with the press box sideline, no matter what direction they may be
traveling. On top of all the physical attributes, performers also have to have all music memorized to
perfection. Part of playing music is to count mentally count in time and tempo. To make the activity of
marching band more difficult, members also have to be able to play while moving to at fast speeds to
exact locations on the field to create new forms. To, as they say put a cherry on top, all of this has to
be done at the same time. For all members of a competition band, they have to multitask throughout
the entire performance with no mental or physical breaks. Mr. Spettel, Marion Local Schools band
director, compares marching band and sports as Physically and mentally it shares all the same aspects
because the mental aspects of memorizing music, playing expressively, and using dynamic contrast.
All of that is just like football or volleyball: remembering plays, strategizing to get the best possible
outcome. And I think one could argue that marching band is just as physically demanding as a lot of
other athletics. All of these items lead to having a strong mental presence as members are

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of
weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an
important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the
composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used
various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the
WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the
introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal
microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite,
polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular
ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as
dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the
acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium
oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic
element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of

Managing HR in MNC is different from the way the HR is being managed in the country, According
to Morgan (1986) there are three factors that differentiate between IHRM and domestic HR: First, the
countries of operations such as the country where a subsidiary may be located, the host country where
the subsidiaries are located, and other countries. Second, the different types of employee, in
international environment the HR management have to deal with the host country nationals (HCNs),
expatriates or home country nationals (PCNs) and third country nationals (TCNs), for example if L
Oreal hired an Indonesian employee in their Indonesian subsidiary the employee is a HCNs, and when
manager from L Oreal Headquarter in France came to work in Indonesian subsidiary the manager is a
PCNs, and if L Oreal employs manager neither from Indonesia nor France to work in their Indonesian
subsidiary the manager is TCNs. Third, is the way HR practices (eg. staffing, compensation, training,
and etc) are conducted. Although IHR practices seems to have the same activities as domestic HR, in
IHR the manager will be dealing with different environment and diversity of employees from different
cultural background. Moreover, as mentioned earlier dissimilarities between domestic and

Struggles in Haitin I bet all of you think that going to school is a pain but that is nowhere close to all
the problems Haiti is going through. Haiti has been going through many problems such as a failing
economy, natural disasters, and degrading environment. Most of Haiti s problems start with the natural
disasters such as the earthquakes and the hurricanes. The junior scholastic notes that the hurricane

almost everything in its path. It killed 1000 and left 175000 people home less, mentions the junior

Daedalus and Icarus completely is not possible. Ovid hides important pieces of the plot in the text, and
wants the readers to reveal the true meaning of the story by looking into the characteristics of the main

From this story, Daedalus can be characterized as brilliant, ignorant, irrational, and egotistical. When
characterizing Icarus, Daedalus son, one of the best parts that describes Icarus is when his father is
making the wings. And Icarus, his son, stood by and watched him, Not knowing he was dealing with
his downfall, Stood by and watched, and raised his shiny face To let a feather, light as down, fall on it,
Or stuck his thumb into the yellow wax, Fooling around, the way a boy will, always (Ovid 14 20).
With this quote, it shows Icarus immaturity, foolish and playfulness when it comes to his father s
inventions and his life. Icarus is a young boy which is evident from the quote above because he is
playing with the wax and watching and admiring his dad. If it was an older boy, he d probably be off
by himself or helping his father with his inventions instead of playing with the wax in the wings.
Icarus is an innocent boy who doesn t understand the importance of being responsible. Not being
responsible leads him to his death, which could have been avoided if he had paid attention to what his
father had told him. Icarus got swept up in the moment when he was flying, and lost all of his thoughts
which lead him to the mistake of flying too high. And the boy Thought This is wonderful! And left his

vulnerabilities of the central characters?
The authors of the Books The Yellow Wallpaper and The Bath attempt at a great literary extent to

It is evident in both texts that there are a range of similarities between both protagonists, which
include: their weaknesses, emotions, families and their genders. But on the other hand they also have a
range of differences which include: their certain weakness, the extent of their irrationality, support and
marriage relation with their certain spouses. They both live in radically different utopias, which could

Hope is also a great theme in the Yellow Wallpaper. It is as likewise found in the resolution stage of
the story. Her hope seems quite more realistic and rational. She seems to have defeated her human
master as recorded in the following extract: Open the door, my darling! I can t, said 1. The key is
down by the front door under a plantain leaf! And then I said it again, several times. Very gently and
slowly, and said it so often that he had to go and see, and he got it of course, and came in. He stopped
short by the door. What is the matter? he cried. For God s sake, what are you doing? I kept on
creeping just the same, but I looked at him over my shoulder. I ve got out at last, said I, in spite of you
and Jane? And I ve pulled off most of the paper, so you can t put me back! Now why should that man
have fainted? But he did, and right across my path by the wall, so that I had to creep over him every
time! This piece of text shows that her view of hope is in the death of her husband, she finally
defeated this great snake who creeped and held her for all her life. She finds hope in freedom.
Although there is substantial evidence that there is a sort of tragedy in the death of her husband. A
great technique that has been used by the author is the use of short sentences; they show the increase
in tempo of the certain scene that is presented towards the reader

euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are relatively similar in purpose and function, they will be
used in correlation to each other when discussing the use and concerns.
With states having the option to choose legalization, the few that have the law in place limit its use to
terminally ill patients (Ardelt 5). Terminal illness is defined as a disease that cannot be cured or
adequately treated and is expected to result in death of the patient within a short time (Benjamin 4).
Most recent is Vermont, which legalized assisted suicide in May 2013, making legalization relevant to

With millions of patients being diagnosed with terminal illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, and

The majority of the information the author used were from letters and diaries and biographies of other
important historical figures such as
John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and Thomas Hutchinson. Most of the biography was filled
with quotes from first hand sources as the diary of Thomas Jefferson and letters written by John
Adams. The quotes mostly described the setting of the time period rather than the important details.
For example, it described the physical appearances of Abigail and John Adams and described the

Social Hierarchy In Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
Though the general principles of statecraft have survived the rise and fall of empires, every increase of
knowledge has brought about changes in the political, economic, and social structure John Boyd Orr.
A social hierarchy has been present since the earliest of times, and is still relevant today. When a plane
crash lands on an island in the middle of the ocean and only twelve and six year old boys are left to
fend for themselves, they begin to start over and the reader watches them change from proper young
men to uncivilized savages. Throughout the story Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the reader
watches the boys that have started over on the island develop into a classic example of social

with simple arrogance... Let s have a vote .... Vote for chief ... Ralph raised a hand for silence. All
right, who wants Jack for chief (22 23)? The main idea of Lord of the Flies is starting civilization over
and observing the direction that it takes. In this scene, it can be observed that in human nature and
instinct there is a desire for a social hierarchy and order, because that is what is comfortable and most
natural. Without an adult or person of more life experience than twelve years providing guidance, the
adolescents are able to cultivate their own structured environment to fill their needs, which happens to

Figurative Language In Sailing The Byzantium
Literature is always personal, always one man s vision of the world, one man s experience (W.B. Yeats
n.d.). Such perspicacity is evident in the works of William Butler Yeats, whose poetry reflects his
fascination with mysticism and the days of yore. The poem Sailing the Byzantium illustrates how
William Butler Yeats use of artistic diction and symbolism reveals the parallels between ancient
civilization and the cycle of life and communicates the dual themes of obsolescence and perpetuity.
Yeats elegy, details a metaphoric spiritual journey of renewal to the holy city seeking intellectual
refuge within an artifice of eternity (Yeats, Lines 16,24). His use of figurative language elicits both the

At the beginning of the second stanza, Yeats use of the metonymic phrase: Aged man...A tattered coat

dramatic metaphors in Line 11 and 12, Soul clap its hands and sing...but studying Monuments of its

achieves perpetuity, not through sensual song, but through the erudition of ancient civilization (Yeats,

The Moral Dilemma Of Obedience From Authority And Supervisors
A moral dilemma that I had faced in my life that continue to cloud my judgement even until this is day

our moral reasons with what is right or wrong and having to outweigh the values of our conflicts. Its
makes I question authority and test on how far our obedience from authority and supervisors lays

been based on sharia law, though it wasn t always this way. Sharia law is derived from both the Qu ran
and the example of the Prophet Mohammed. Currently, there is no constitution governing Libya law,
despite the Constitutional Proclamation issued in 1969. One interest fact that I found really good
looking up is that they live almost entirely off of the food that they grow themselves. Fast food
restaurants and supermarkets, do not exist in most of Africa. People sell clothing, food, and other
supplies at outdoor markets. I also did not know that the music of Africa is a part of all aspects of life.
All forms of instruments, such as string, wind, and percussion, originated in Africa. When doing this
research I found out that we do not have anything related to my culture. Afia and I are two different

Examples Of Vengeance In Beowulf
While today revenge is regarded as an impolite and impractical practice, in times past it was
normalized, even celebrated. Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant and the acclaimed Anglo Saxon
poem Beowulf describe vengeance as a ceremonious cornerstone of British, Saxon, Geat, and Danish
society. In these societies partaking in revenge was widely regarded as noble and morally upright,
though from a modern perspective these acts of vengeance would be regarded a petty and unjust.
While characters in both The Buried Giant and Beowulf liberally practice and celebrate revenge,
Ishiguro and Beowulf s Anglo Saxon author seem to critique the medium which their characters
observe.
The idea of vengeance is present throughout the entirety of The Buried Giant: each prominent
character partaking and celebrating their own retaliatory scheme. One notable example of vengeance
within the novel occurs between Axl and Beatrice. As the reader nears the end of the novel they come

In fact, vengeance plays such a pinnacle role in Beowulf that Beowulf himself states, It is always
better / to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning (Beowulf, 1384 1385, 37). In an act of
retaliation for the terrorization of Herot, Bowulf seeks out, and eventually murders, Grendel. Grendel
s mother then attacks Herot, in retaliation for the murder of her son. Beowulf then kills Grendel s
mother to avenge those she killed during her conquest of Herot. Hrothgar encourages Beowulf to seek
out vengeance by saying, My household guards / are on wane, fate sweeps them away / into Grendel s
clutches but God can easily / halt these raids and harrowing attacks (Beowulf,476 469, 14). In this
verse Hrothgar suggest that, with God s aide, Beowulf can easily overtake Grendel. After slaying
Grendel, Beowulf s victorious act of vengeance was celebrated with a massive feast at Herot and
rewarded with an invaluable amount of

Mutations In Research Paper
1. Mutation is a driving force for the evolution of a species. Describe the 3 main mutations that can
occur in a gene, and the impact those mutations will have on protein structure/function. (5 pts)
Mutations at the level of DNA are: base substitutions, base insertions, and base deletions. The
missense can be caused by base substitutions and nonsense mutations in the protein which can lead to
structure alterations and essentially loss of function. Also, the base substitutions can cause silent
mutations where the DNA base is changed, but it has no effect on the protein coding sequence. Base
insertions and deletions cause frameshift mutations which essentially change the amino acid coding
sequence downstream of the mutation. This will affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other genes may be responsible for differences within other populations and between very different
populations such as the short statured Biaka Pygmies and tall statured Dinka of equatorial Africa. The
combination of so many genes helps to explain why stature is not a Mendelian trait with only two or

The percentage of population which its trait is the recessive bb = (12/100,000) X 100= 0.012%.

Zauner Ornaments -Costing and Pricing
Zauner Ornaments
Costing Pricing
Introduction
Zauner Ornaments was a large manufacturer of crystal and glass products based in Vienna Austria.
The company had an international reputation of producing high quality glass and crystal at affordable
prices due to the skill of its master artisan and using innovative technology in the manufacturing
process. Its product was used in fine restaurants, hotels and residencies around the world.
Due to slowing growth in the fine crystal and glass tableware markets, the organization has expanded
into producing glass Christmas tree ornaments to take advantage of its Crystal s unique capabilities.
The company leased a small manufacturing facility in Taiwan to produce small glass ball ... Show

We compared traditional volume based costing with outcome of ABC and following findings reported.
Earlier Zauner was selling small glass ,large glass and specialty glass ball ornament at price of $9 ,$11
and $17 per box whereas price working out by allocating overhead cost using traditional volume based
method coming to $21.12 ,$13.56 and $8.43 respectively . It is mentioning that management has not
adopted accurate method of costing and correct base of pricing strategy. There is lot of price distortion
if Zauner would have been made decision on volume based cost findings. It means that there are many
issues with allocating overhead cost in various product lines. Here we have carried out ABC method
and Findings are as tabulated below: Small glass ball

Allusions In Brave New World Analysis
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World uses allusions to Shakespeare and historical figures in order to
show how detached from long lasting cultural values humans can become. The first allusions to
Shakespeare is made in the title, Brave New World. This alludes to The Tempest, O, wonder! / How
many goodly creatures are there here! / How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, / That has
such people in t! (ACT 5. SC. 1) Huxley chose this title in order to poke fun at how wonderful and
beautiful society thinks the world is, which is important to remember when, throughout the novel,
society believes they are at their best and have achieved the highest degree of community possible.
The main character John grew up with a blend of native and civilized cultures. His mother kept two
books with her in Mexico, one being The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. This book being
the only way he was taught to read and write makes it easier for John to connect to Shakespeare and
his writings. The fact that he, a savage , is using a higher level of speech than the civilized ... Show

The first and most important notable person he alludes to is Henry Ford. Ford s company invented the
assembly line, which is being used in Brave New World s Central London Hatchery and Conditioning
Centre, when the workers perform Bokanovsky s Process on human eggs. Bokanovsky s Process is an
allusion to Maurice Bokanovsky, a French bureaucrat who wanted a more efficient government. It
then makes sense that Huxley named a fictitious scientific process for cloning after him. The
Malthusian Belt is almost the opposite of Bokanovsky s Process. It is a birth control belt that is worn
by the women in Brave New World. It alludes to Thomas Malthus, a British economist who thought
that the world s population would grow out of control if allowed to have too many

Interview With Oprah Winfrey
The Interview of a Lifetime with Oprah Winfrey If there was any one person walking today that I
would love to have an interview with, it would surely be Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Gail Winfrey was
born January 29, 1954 in a rural impoverished town of Mississippi where she lived with her
grandmother in her earlier years of life. Her mom was a teenage single mother. This coincides with my
life which in some instances mirrors Oprah s life in early childhood. My mom married at the age of 14
and had her first child at 15 years of age.
Oprah was later sent to Milwaukee to live with her mom when she was 6 years of age. He mom
worked long hours as a maid and Oprah was molested several times by male family members. Oprah
became pregnant at the age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to know who and what turned her life around that inspired her to pressed onward and decide
failure was not an option. Oprah s early years in life were so unstable, filled with all the adversities
that would have put her on the statistic chart for failure. Instead, she was blessed beyond measures and
pressed on to become a major success crossing all boundaries. She is a black female, born into
poverty, unstable home life, teen Varner 3 pregnancy and molestation. Most, if not just one of these
adversities would have set an average person back where they would have been defeated in seeing
beyond the pain and failed to move onward. Oprah makes it a habit of giving back and blessing people
with her wealth, knowledge and gift of perseverance. She as inspired men, women and children of all
ages and cultural backgrounds. I would love to have a conversation with Oprah to enhance, strengthen
and help me to develop into the source of inspiration as I have been to quite a few, expanding my love
and motivation for hundreds of thousands of people who has experienced hardships and was able to
overcome those adversities of

The Conflicted Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Watching a solitary blade of grass will never tell you the direction of hurricane, just as one
characteristic can never describe Linda Loman. In Death of a Salesman, Linda Loman is a woman torn
between guilt, retaliation, and pity. Her guilt stems from the fact that she prevented Willy from
pursuing his true American Dream; she retaliates in response to Willy s failure; she feels sorry for
Willy, because he is a pitiful lone adventurer of the road (47). As the battling motivations blow from
opposing directions, the reader is left to decide to which one motivation Linda will succumb.
Willy is a source of guilt for Linda, because, in part, she blames herself for ... Show more content on

Willy undermines her authority with the boys. He denies any negative comments out of her mouth
when their children are discussed. He interrupts her. He shouts at her. Linda reacts with veiled hostility
to Willy?s disrespect. She laughs at the idea of planting a garden, pointing to Willy?s past failures at
growing a garden. Every time Linda pokes at his failures, she is retaliating against Willy?s failures and
the fact that she has been pulled into Willy?s dead end dream against her will.
When Linda refers to Willy as a little boat looking for a harbor, another wind blows against Linda,
pushing her to act with pity (1247). To her, he is nothing more than a small, helpless old man. She
blames the business for forgetting Willy in his old age, and passing him over like an orange peel.
Toward the end of Act I, Linda presents a sorry image of Willy, describing his past greatness as a
salesman and ending with a sad description of treachery. She tells her sons that Willy is exhausted
from driving 1400 miles without earning a penny, and that his reward from the ones he loved the most,
his sons, is spite and rejection (1237). The picture she paints of her husband is on filled with pity and
sorrow.
All the motivations conflict with each other constantly. On one hand, Linda more than loves her
husband, she admires him (1213). She wants to follow his dreams to the end, but at the same time

The Effect Of Digital Analog Audio Signal Processing
Abstract
As technology advances, the research of digital signal processing is undergoing rapid development. At
present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics
applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP
application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech
enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc..
With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more
high quality requirements of audio. However, the traditional analog audio signal processing has been
impossible to meet people s needs, at this time, digital signal processing began to ... Show more

In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system
which based on DSP technology.
In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical
system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of
unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response
(IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just
one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily
realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which
is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal
processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields.
This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do
sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the
system will be put forward.
Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter

Topdog Underdog Analysis
Everybody strives to achieve the American Dream: having success, equality, a home, wealth, family,
friends, and happiness. However, this dream of a life in America has been catered towards a certain
group of people, fabricating an uneven playing field for all those who want to achieve success. Those
which are predominantly white, who grew up with more opportunities, support, and money are much
more likely to achieve success, while those without this head start are much less likely to live the
dream. In Topdog Underdog by Suzan Lori Parks, two grown African American brothers ironically
named Booth and Lincoln, struggle with achieving the American Dream while feeling forced to resort
back into a dishonest life of failure. Booth gets by through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The people who may be looked down upon, such as those hustlers and thieves like Booth and Lincoln,
might have no other choice than to live that lifestyle due to the way that society was set up. They may
have tried the hardest to be successful, but there was always an invisible force, perhaps one involving
race or social class, which kept them from proceeding to climb up the ladder. In Topdog Underdog,
two black brothers directly portray this idea, and deal with the melancholic loss of ideals of whiteness,
by resorting to living an unmoral life full of crime. The men feel so mistreated and looked down upon
to the point where they do not feel they can succeed, and therefore stop trying after being rejected time
after time. Lincoln and Booth compensate through distorted memories of happiness and distorting
appearances towards wealth and women. After exploring the perspective of the characters of the story,
perhaps people can understand why minorities living in urban settings may turn towards crime and
now not judge them for resorting to making livings through stealing, hustling money, or gang activity.
People can also use their example when thinking about how to reduce crime in urban areas, for
example, providing programs for low income minorities, which give chances to work morally. After
reading this story, people can look at others like the two men in a much more understanding view,
provide help and reduce the stigmas placed upon

  • 2. The Cross and the Swtichblade In my opinion, I think I can partly identify with David Wilkerson because of the way he treated people. I m a girl of my words, what ever I say, I will do. David Wilkerson said he wanted to help Nicky, and that is what he did. I m not a 100% peace maker, but I know when to be mature and bring peace and I know when to be loud and noisy. There is a time, in a place. Also, the fact that David wanted to make someone s life better and make them realize that god/love/energy is the power of all humanity. I try to do that. I try my hardest, to make everyone feel special and love themselves. I have many perspectives of the movie. Though, the feeling that often returns is fear. I loved the movie because it is was very inspirational, but I felt fear because this was what our world was a long time ago and it still is now. I felt that the movie was describing reality. I said the movie was inspirational because if someone tries hard enough, they can change you in a negative and positive way, but if you try twice as hard, you can change yourself in which ever way you desire. The movie itself might have changed people lives, you saw the point of views from both sides. Negative and positive. Now its your turn to determine that path you wish to seek. David Wilkerson had done a lot of great things. I know a lot of people that are based off David Wilkerson. What I mean by based off, I m implying that some folks act like David Wilkerson, think like David Wilkerson and believe in what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All 5 members of our group are commuter students who wish their was a better commuter lounge that was truly targeted to fulfill the needs of all commuter students and give us a reason to stay on campus after our classes ended or in between classes during each school day. Implementation Plan In order to upgrade the commuter lounge at Seton Hall, it is important to develop an implementation plan. Having an implementation plan will help us better understand the steps we have to take in order to get the ball rolling. The implementation plan will also help us keep track of where our progress is and what steps we have completed. The implementation plan we created will have four different components: how we will go about implementing our idea, the steps we need to follow to implement our idea, who would need to be involved, and the communication of our plan to others. The way we will go about implementing our idea is rather simple. In order to upgrade the commuter lounge, it is important to gather information about the needs of the commuter student community here at Seton Hall. Conducting a school wide survey of all the commuter students with questions that will target what these students look for in a university being, what the university is lacking, what they would like to see be improved at Seton Hall, among other various questions will give us an idea of what to include in the new commuter lounge. This survey will help us establish if there is a need for an upgraded commuter lounge, as we believe there definitely is. Once the need is figured out, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every part of your life has been as a result of your fears you have made your life to feel as safe as possible to avoid any of the conflicts raging inside you. It s an unconscious thing, but it s something we all do. Michael Singer provides an excellent analogy of this in the book The Untethered Soul. A person has a thorn piercing a nerve in their arm, which means any contact with it causes crippling pain. So, how can this person live a life without pain? Protect themselves, a sleep device is necessary to protect the thorn as bed won t do. Physical contact is a big no no, so a protective device will solve that. The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz is a novel in which each character possesses their own multifaceted culture. The various qualities that make up each unique character are brought to life through Diaz utilization of juxtaposition, diction, and tone throughout the literary work. Juxtaposition is a stylistic device used by Diaz to highlight differences between two specific elements. Diaz uses the ironic phrase spectacular demolition of dreams to lighten the mood of the passage, adding the feeling that Indian Benny has watched his dreams disappear in front of his eyes and accepted it, knowing there was nothing he could do to change it. Breastfeeding Issues Essay Breastfeeding issues It is quite essential for the mother to nurse her own child by herself, there would be many factors causing a problem while breastfeeding her child. If these won t help, it is advisable that you visit a medical expert nearby. Baby doesn t latch It can turn out to be frustrating things to deal having a baby that won t latch. It is one of the most common problems. The correct way to get your baby to latch is by getting naked from the waist up. Get your baby to a semi reclining position only in its diaper. Keep his mouth on your chest, as soon as the baby is ready, he might scoot down to the breast and should latch on. Skin to skin is a magical cure for a non latching baby to get it latched. If you still have latch problems breastfeeding, consult help. Sometimes, it is common that the baby sleeps within a few minutes after he gets latched, you might be concerned whether he/she is even eating or not, the best way to figure that out is waking him/her up and giving an eat signal, the way to do that is doing breast compressions allowing milk to flow, do that gently so that you do not bruise yourself. • 9. Solar Power Vs. Wind Power Have you ever thought about green energy? Well if you have, I am sure that you have heard of solar power and wind power. There are also other forms of green energy, but they are not used as much as solar or wind power, but solar vs, wind power is one the most debated topics in green energy. This topic is controversial because the world is beginning to switch to renewable green energy and people and politicians are debating which energy source they should use. Solar power is a better option than wind power. There are many reasons why solar power is better than wind power. One of the reasons is that solar panels take less maintenance than wind turbines. Standard warranties normally last 25 years; and this includes any repairs and damages that could occur to the solar panel. An example of this is if a tree were to fall onto a group of solar panels from a storm and it was within the 25 year warranty, then the company that made the solar panel would come and repair or replace the broken or damaged panels. Wind turbines have shorter warranties from the manufacturers, and this should make people less certain of their reliability. The solar panel companies also have a guarantee that a solar panel s efficiency won t drop below a certain percentage over its lifespan, this percentage is normally in the range of 85 90% efficiency. Also, solar panels are made of tempered glass which is made to withstand hail and other damaging weather. Solar panels don t have any moving parts like a wind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certain religions worship a divine being, have a sacred book, or commandments which they follow. Shinto, for example, does not have a set of commandments, nor does it preach a moral code; Zen Buddhism does not worship a divine being; and many tribal religions have no written sacred scripture (Molloy, 2010). Sacred space can also be constructed into a symbolic shape, like a circle, square, or a group of stones, like the Stonehenge in England. Sacred space can also be a church, synagogue, or any place of worship depending on the religion and its beliefs. Some native religions see everything in the universe as being alive, a concept known as animism. The life force (Latin: anima ) is present in everything and is especially apparent in living things trees, plants, birds, animals, and human beings and in the motion of water, the sun, the moon, clouds, and wind. But life force can also be present in apparently static mountains, rocks, and soil. Other native religions, while more theistic, see powerful spirits in nature, which temporarily inhabit natural objects and manifest themselves there (Molloy,2010). • 14. Father Son Relationships In Things Fall Apart Every father should remember that one day his son will follow his example instead of his advice. This quote by Charles F Kettering embodies what a father son relationship really is. A father is someone a son looks up to, whether in a good or bad light depends on the situation. Father son relationships can take two paths, one where the son does everything the father hates and the others were the son does everything the father does. Fathers play a major role in their son s life with examples of the relationship found throughout the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe in the characters of Okonkwo, Nwoye and Unoka. For better or worse Unoka played a major role in Okonkwo s life. It was fear of himself, lest he should be found to resemble his father. (Achebe 13). Throughout the entirety of Okonkwo s life, his relationship with his father would affect his decisions which were always based on the question, Would my father do this? , and if he would he would do the opposite. Okonkwo viewed his father as a failure and did not want to even be seen as being related to him. Anti-War Pacifism Pacifism covers an array of views and there are many subcategories of pacifism, some of which I will cover, but the main definition of the word pacifism is the opposition to war and/or violence. Perhaps the most famous use of the word pacifism is found in the Sermon on the Mount , where Jesus claims the peacemakers are blessed. In this passage, the Greek word eirenopoios is translated into Latin as pacifici, which means those who work for peace. If the Germans, instead of being resisted by force of arms, had been passively permitted to establish themselves wherever they pleased, the halo of glory and courage surrounding the brutality of military success would have been absent, and public opinion in Germany itself would have rendered any oppression impossible. He taught non resistance as proper defense to violence. For such antiwar pacifists, all participation in war is morally wrong. A universal and unavoidable product of war is that soldiers get killed. Most people accept these killings as a necessary evil and that the ends justify the means. If the war is justifiable ,the killing of enemy soldiers is deemed as a necessary triumph of what is right. If the war is unjustified, it is seen as honorable to fight for one s country, whether you agree with them or not. But antiwar pacifists do not take the lives of soldiers for granted. Everyone has a right to life and killing on the battlefield is a direct violation of that right. In a standard interpretation of basic rights, it is never morally justifiable to violate a right in order to produce some good. The recurring comparisons of the Trujillato to the power of Sauron are more than just metaphors. They are descriptions. Diaz uses his references to describe people and situations, in real life, that have no other way of being described. The first direct quote of Oscar de Leon is, What more sci fi than Santo Domingo? Also, just as Shelob never hesitates to prey on both man and orc, so too La Fea cheated everyone she did business with, including her brother (139). Diaz uses the allusion to explain even what the sister of Trujillo thinks, knowing that Shelob does not like to kill her prey right away, instead stinging them and leaving them paralyzed before she actually kills them. This method is used against Beli as well; when La Fea orders her orcs to capture Beli, she is beaten to the brink of death, but not killed. The perfection and detail of Diaz s allusion goes much deeper than a simple metaphor, and actually defines who this character is. When Tolkien originally wrote The Lord of the Rings, he did so as reference to World War II, which was ongoing at the time. For him, Sauron was a representation of Hitler; the gaze of His Eye, the spread of industrialization and destruction from the war. Due to the intricate relationship of organ systems with each other, a dysfunction in one organ might have a domino effect on other tissues and organs within the body and since the human body is far from perfect, mutations, drugs, or pathogens may lead to cellular damage at a microscopic level, which could then lead to the deterioration of organs at a macroscopic level. In the past, organ failure was fatal and very little could be done to reverse the process. However, thanks to the integration of various disciplines with present day technology, organs and tissues can be regenerated through a multitude of distinct procedures involving a team of individuals across various professions. Without the incorporation of the works of doctors, mathematicians, physicists, material scientists, biochemists, and molecular biologists, these life saving procedures may have not been possible. Organ and tissue regeneration is prevalent in many aspects of nature, such as in the regeneration of starfish arms or planarians. In fact, according to Mayo Clinic, the human liver is also known to regenerate itself in response to mild damage. However, the damage to organs and tissues can be irreversible, such as extensive liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis or excessive alcohol consumption or a severe myocardial infarction that can lead to the death of heart tissue. ... Well for starters throughout all of high school I have procrastinated and put everything off till last minute and sometimes not even do it. I would sit there knowing I have some huge project that needs done the next day and instead of doing it I would think of some way to try to get out of it or distract myself. • 21. Allegories In Dante Alighieri About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity. But the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the average authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it shows in his writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader overthink every word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieri descriptively crafts three allegories of Francesca, the city of Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning submerged underneath the cover story of Dante s version of Hell. Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man? (Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell. Everyone commits sins ... The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I was little I attend catholic school for most of my childhood education and there we were taught what they say is moral and immoral. Well when I graduated learned that because a person was gay didn t mean that they were bad or evil but that they are just like you and I. • 38. Cultural Differences Between Sharia And Shaday Different Cultures The culture that I belong to is Christianity. What is Christianity? Well it is Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the New Testament. Every Sunday or every other Sunday my family and I go to church, and come back to cook Sunday dinner. I was given the opportunity to study two different cultures that is different from mines. I had to find someone fast, and that I did. I interviewed two of my coworkers from work on their culture. Afia is from Libya, and Shaday is from Belize. Before doing this project, I had known about these different places, but not a lot. The first person I interviewed was Afia. The first question that I asked was, in Libya what is their language? She told me she speaks Arabic, and it is main language spoken in Libya. Then I asked how they greet each other. The handshake is commonly used, and you have to shake hands at the ... Currently, there is no constitution governing Libya law, despite the Constitutional Proclamation issued in 1969. Fast food restaurants and supermarkets, do not exist in most of Africa. People sell clothing, food, and other supplies at outdoor markets. I also did not know that the music of Africa is a part of all aspects of life. All forms of instruments, such as string, wind, and percussion, originated in Africa. • 39. Examples Of Vengeance In Beowulf While today revenge is regarded as an impolite and impractical practice, in times past it was normalized, even celebrated. Kazuo Ishiguro s The Buried Giant and the acclaimed Anglo Saxon poem Beowulf describe vengeance as a ceremonious cornerstone of British, Saxon, Geat, and Danish society. In these societies partaking in revenge was widely regarded as noble and morally upright, though from a modern perspective these acts of vengeance would be regarded a petty and unjust. While characters in both The Buried Giant and Beowulf liberally practice and celebrate revenge, Ishiguro and Beowulf s Anglo Saxon author seem to critique the medium which their characters observe. The idea of vengeance is present throughout the entirety of The Buried Giant: each prominent character partaking and celebrating their own retaliatory scheme. One notable example of vengeance within the novel occurs between Axl and Beatrice. As the reader nears the end of the novel they come to learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, vengeance plays such a pinnacle role in Beowulf that Beowulf himself states, It is always better / to avenge dear ones than to indulge in mourning (Beowulf, 1384 1385, 37). In an act of retaliation for the terrorization of Herot, Bowulf seeks out, and eventually murders, Grendel. Grendel s mother then attacks Herot, in retaliation for the murder of her son. Beowulf then kills Grendel s mother to avenge those she killed during her conquest of Herot. Hrothgar encourages Beowulf to seek out vengeance by saying, My household guards / are on wane, fate sweeps them away / into Grendel s clutches but God can easily / halt these raids and harrowing attacks (Beowulf,476 469, 14). • 40. Mutations In Research Paper 1. Mutation is a driving force for the evolution of a species. Describe the 3 main mutations that can occur in a gene, and the impact those mutations will have on protein structure/function. (5 pts) Mutations at the level of DNA are: base substitutions, base insertions, and base deletions. The missense can be caused by base substitutions and nonsense mutations in the protein which can lead to structure alterations and essentially loss of function. Also, the base substitutions can cause silent mutations where the DNA base is changed, but it has no effect on the protein coding sequence. Base insertions and deletions cause frameshift mutations which essentially change the amino acid coding sequence downstream of the mutation. This will affect ... Other genes may be responsible for differences within other populations and between very different populations such as the short statured Biaka Pygmies and tall statured Dinka of equatorial Africa. If the phenotypic variation is 30, what is the variation due to additive alleles? (2 pts) 30 12. According to a recent study, 1 out of 50,000 people will be diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis can be caused by a mutant form of the CFTR gene (dominant gene symbol is F and mutant is f). The percentage of population which its trait is the recessive bb = (12/100,000) X 100= 0.012%. If we applied Hardy Weinberg equilibrium p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 That means the allelic frequency of the cancerous allele is equal to the square root of 0.012 which is = 0.1095 a. Using the rate of incidence above, what is the frequency of carriers of the cystic fibrosis allele for CFTR in the US? (3 pts) We know that tumor suppressor genes must be homozygous recessive, therefore the genotype for BRCA1 will be bb. • 42. Allusions In Brave New World Analysis Aldous Huxley s Brave New World uses allusions to Shakespeare and historical figures in order to show how detached from long lasting cultural values humans can become. The first allusions to Shakespeare is made in the title, Brave New World. This alludes to The Tempest, O, wonder! / How many goodly creatures are there here! / How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, / That has such people in t! (ACT 5. SC. 1) Huxley chose this title in order to poke fun at how wonderful and beautiful society thinks the world is, which is important to remember when, throughout the novel, society believes they are at their best and have achieved the highest degree of community possible. The main character John grew up with a blend of native and civilized cultures. His mother kept two books with her in Mexico, one being The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. It then makes sense that Huxley named a fictitious scientific process for cloning after him. The Malthusian Belt is almost the opposite of Bokanovsky s Process. The Conflicted Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman Watching a solitary blade of grass will never tell you the direction of hurricane, just as one characteristic can never describe Linda Loman. In Death of a Salesman, Linda Loman is a woman torn between guilt, retaliation, and pity. Her guilt stems from the fact that she prevented Willy from pursuing his true American Dream; she retaliates in response to Willy s failure; she feels sorry for Willy, because he is a pitiful lone adventurer of the road (47). At present, it has been used in many fields such as communications industry, voice and acoustics applications, radar and image. The processing of the speech signal is one of the key areas of DSP application. So far, it has formed a number of research directions, such as speech analysis, speech enhancement, speech recognition, voice communication, etc.. With the development of IT technology and voice processing technology, people have more and more high quality requirements of audio. In this case, this paper designs and implements an audio signal acquisition and processing system which based on DSP technology. In the processing of the audio signal, it needs to go to the digital filter. Digital filter is a numerical system which used to filter the time discrete signal. According to the time domain characteristics of unit impulse response function, it can be divided into two kinds of filter, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. Compared with the IIR filter, the FIR filter has just one zero point, and has no pole in the z plane except the origin, so it is always stable and can be easily realized. Even more important, the strict linear phase property can be obtained by the FIR filter, which is difficult to achieve by the IIR filter, so it is widely used in the field of high fidelity signal processing, such as digital audio, image processing, data transmission, biomedical and other fields. This project is about using DSP technology and digital filter to build a music instrument which can do sound signal acquisition and processing. At last, the suggestion and prospect of how to improve the system will be put forward. Key word: DSP, Audio signal processing, FIR filter Acknowledgments I am deeply glad and appreciating my dissertation supervisor Dr. Itagaki for his expert advice and throughout the whole project A warm thanks ... However, this dream of a life in America has been catered towards a certain group of people, fabricating an uneven playing field for all those who want to achieve success. Those which are predominantly white, who grew up with more opportunities, support, and money are much more likely to achieve success, while those without this head start are much less likely to live the dream. In Topdog Underdog by Suzan Lori Parks, two grown African American brothers ironically named Booth and Lincoln, struggle with achieving the American Dream while feeling forced to resort back into a dishonest life of failure. The people who may be looked down upon, such as those hustlers and thieves like Booth and Lincoln, might have no other choice than to live that lifestyle due to the way that society was set up. They may have tried the hardest to be successful, but there was always an invisible force, perhaps one involving race or social class, which kept them from proceeding to climb up the ladder. In Topdog Underdog, two black brothers directly portray this idea, and deal with the melancholic loss of ideals of whiteness, by resorting to living an unmoral life full of crime. The men feel so mistreated and looked down upon to the point where they do not feel they can succeed, and therefore stop trying after being rejected time after time. Lincoln and Booth compensate through distorted memories of happiness and distorting appearances towards wealth and women. After exploring the perspective of the characters of the story, perhaps people can understand why minorities living in urban settings may turn towards crime and now not judge them for resorting to making livings through stealing, hustling money, or gang activity. People can also use their example when thinking about how to reduce crime in urban areas, for example, providing programs for low income minorities, which give chances to work morally. After reading this story, people can look at others like the two men in a much more understanding view, provide help and reduce the stigmas placed upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
