» Presidents of the Technical Colleges
 are discussing the need for this model.
 Change would require legislative
 approval.

» Well on the way with this model.
  Legislation in progress to allow
  community colleges to offer BS in five
  areas including nursing.

» Nine of the ten publicly funded University nursing
  programs have RN to BSN tracks and seven have an
  RN to BSN/MSN track with one having an RN to MSN
  track.

» Examining if the current programs being offered need
  to be expanded. Developing a state-wide education
  plan to move nurses seamlessly across all levels of
  nursing education.

» Has several colleges/universities with accelerated
  options and are planning to expand these
  opportunities.                                         29
»    A model of differentiated practice competencies
    from AS through MS was developed in 1998,
    revised in 2002 and is currently being updated to
    reflect current and future practice. Plan to map
    competencies to curriculum when updating
    process is completed.

» All 16 Technical College programs which educate
  99% of the ADN graduates have a system wide
  curriculum with shared competencies.

» Competency based curriculum in progress.

» Have a strong RN-BSN workgroup working to align admission
  requirements for ADN and BSN programs and are evaluating
  science prerequisite courses at community colleges to ensure
  they meet competency requirements for BSN programs.


» Associate degree programs have common nursing curriculum.
  Have a committee of ADN and BSN program representatives
  developing a draft of preferred pre-nursing courses for both
  ADN and BSN programs that could be adopted by all. Draft to
  be presented to July

» Finalizing audit of RN to BSN programs with discussion about a
  common curriculum

  • 31. » Presidents of the Technical Colleges are discussing the need for this model. Change would require legislative approval. » Well on the way with this model. Legislation in progress to allow community colleges to offer BS in five areas including nursing. 28
  • 32. » Nine of the ten publicly funded University nursing programs have RN to BSN tracks and seven have an RN to BSN/MSN track with one having an RN to MSN track. » Examining if the current programs being offered need to be expanded. Developing a state-wide education plan to move nurses seamlessly across all levels of nursing education. » Has several colleges/universities with accelerated options and are planning to expand these opportunities. 29
  • 33. » A model of differentiated practice competencies from AS through MS was developed in 1998, revised in 2002 and is currently being updated to reflect current and future practice. Plan to map competencies to curriculum when updating process is completed. » All 16 Technical College programs which educate 99% of the ADN graduates have a system wide curriculum with shared competencies. » Competency based curriculum in progress. 30
  • 34. » Have a strong RN-BSN workgroup working to align admission requirements for ADN and BSN programs and are evaluating science prerequisite courses at community colleges to ensure they meet competency requirements for BSN programs. » Associate degree programs have common nursing curriculum. Have a committee of ADN and BSN program representatives developing a draft of preferred pre-nursing courses for both ADN and BSN programs that could be adopted by all.
