Manson s Family Of Young Teenage Runaways
Now is the time for Helter Skelter, (Christian 2). The notorious murderer and cult leader Charles
Manson announced Helter Skelter, a predicted racial war between whites and blacks in America,
to his followers one morning in 1969 to prepare them for the chaos that they would inflict upon
our country. The Manson Family, as it came to be known, gruesomely murdered several well
known celebrities and regular civilians in a bloodbath of terror, which left millions of people
aghast and deluged with an overwhelming sense of fear. The 1960 s were an extremely tumultuous
era, and the well known Manson Cult crimes contributed profoundly to the carnage of the decade.

Slowly but surely, from 1967 to 1969, the Manson Family doubled in size, which provided
Manson with more hands to carry out his maniacal plans and diabolical schemes. Each member
was now a puppet tied to Manson s strings, and they would gratefully bend over backwards for
their leader, their master, and their everything. In the beginning, the members of the Manson
Family were mellow, laid back, and inebriated twenty four/seven; however, several members
acquiesced to Manson s orders and practically placed themselves on the front page of every
California newspaper. Tex Watson, Squeaky Frome, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and
Leslie Van Houten came to be known as Manson s most devoted followers (Christian 2). These
individuals were willing to do all the dirty work for Manson, whatever the price might be. If
Manson said Jump, they asked How high? , and if Manson said Kill, they asked How many?
Additionally, a later recruited member, Linda Kasabian, would end up as the lookout for the
gruesome murders carried out by her brothers and sisters (2). However, initially Linda had no clue
what she signed herself up for, assuming that the Spahn Ranch was merely just a place to live, to
do drugs, and to hook up with men; nonetheless, she soon got her eye opening view of the real

About HAL
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was founded way back in year 1940 by a visionary Seth
Walchand Hirachand as Hindustan Aircraft Limited at Bangalore in association with the erstwhile
princely State of Mysore. Government of India became one of its shareholders in March 1941 and
took over the management in 1942. HAL was formed on 1st October 1964 by merging of
Aeronautics India Limited and Aircraft Manufacturing Depot with Hindustan Aircraft Limited.
The present day Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is a Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU),

AERO ENGINE TEST CELL
AERO ENGINE TESTING INTRODUCTION:
During manufacture, the aero engines are subjected to various tests, which will guarantee reliable
operation of the engines during its service life. Each Aero engine after its final assembly is
subjected to two tests, and every combustion chamber module of engine is subjected to temperature
profile measurement test. The tests are broadly classified as

Pathophysiology Research Paper
1a. Pathophysiology is a key factor in understanding how the body works. One aspect where it is
very important is pH disturbances of the body. Respiratory alkalosis is when there is a commotion
in the pH balance when there is alveolar hyperventilation in the lungs. This in return can cause a
decline in pressure of carbon dioxidecausing an increase in bicarbonate. In return the pH level
increases. Respiratory acidosisis a pH balance disturbance that occurs in response to alveolar
hypoventilation. As carbon dioxide is produced ventilation failure increases the pressure of
carbon dioxide. After this happens the pH level decreases. Metabolic alkalosis is an increase in
the body s amount of bicarbonate. When the body loses too much hydrogen from the body, and/or
retains too much bicarbonate, this issue can occur. Metabolic acidosis is an occurrence during
which there is an increase in acids or a decrease in bicarbonate.... Show more content on

The Pagan Origins of Christianity Essay
The first part of this paper will explore the mystery religions, the reasons behind their popularity,
and the Hellenistic world in which they grew that began with Alexander the Great. Next, their
characteristics and connections first with Judaism and later with Christianity will be more deeply
discussed. In the second part it will be shown that the mystery religions helped to clear the pathway
for the Christianization of the Greco Roman world by men such as Paul the Apostle. Finally, the
Emperor Constantines role in this story will be mentioned, during whose reign the mystery religions
declined and Christianitybecame the major religion of Europe and the near east. The paper will

After learning these mysteria, members were considered reborn or born again. Christianity in fact
began along these lines of practice. Its most important ceremony, the Mass or Eucharist, in which
the body and blood of Christ were symbolically eaten in the forms of bread and wine, was
forbidden to all but a select few who had completed three levels of initiation. Most early Christians,
whether of Jewish or Gentile origin, would have been familiar the concept of mysteria. Throughout
the Mediterranean world, religious communities based on this idea of secret teachings thrived.
Another common element in the mystery religions was their tendency to worship the divine on
what we today would think of as a higher spiritual level than standard Greek and Roman
religions did. The idea of a spiritual world as separate from the material world, first promoted by
Plato, was fully adopted by the mystery religions and provided them with a basis for belief in life
after death. Conversely, ancient Greco Roman religion and Judaism contained nothing that
addressed this new concept of separate worlds. Traditional public worship in both Jewish and
Gentile communities generally emphasized the material world in its requests for good crops,
healthy children and success in business. Worship in a closed

Argument Against A Paid Maternity Leave Essay
All of the above are strong arguments for the pressing necessity of a mandated paid maternity leave.
Nevertheless, the many opponents of this initiative are arguing otherwise.
One argument against a paid maternity leave is based on the assumption that one of the parents
should not be working in the first place. In other words, a full time stay at home parent is beneficial
to the development of the child and therefore a paid limited time maternity leave is redundant and is
simply a waste of resources. Suzanne Venker, a writer, insists that According to Public Agenda,
70% of parents with children under age five believe having a parent at home is best. And 63%
disagree that children in daycare receive just as good care and attention as with a stay at home
parent. These findings are commensurate with 2014 Pew data that shows 60% of Americans say
children are better off when a parent stays home to focus on the family. ( Why Paid Maternity
Leave Is Not the Answer. ) According to these findings, Americans are unlikely to agree to
encourage mothers to put their children in childcare and go back to work, let alone spend money
on a paid maternity leave.
Nice try, Ms. Venker, but let s continue to read the mentioned 2014 Pew data till the end: Stay at
home mothers are younger, poorer and less educated than their working counterparts. For
example, 34% of stay at home mothers are poor, compared with 12% of working mothers. ( 7 Key
Findings about Stay at home Moms. ) Let s

PolyMet is the first of a long list of companies that hope to take advantage of the world s largest
untouched deposit of copper located beneath northeast Minnesota near Hoyt Lakes. The company
is hopping to divulge 600 million dollars to operate an old mine in that area. The company has
held multiple town meeting in hopes to sway the public into agreeing with the construction of the
mine. Though this operation will create a lot of jobs (over 400 permanent jobs and thousands of
temporary ones) it should immediately be halted due to not only environmental concerns but also
ethics and moral concerns. This project should be halted because it has a sustained life span of

If PolyMet s mine creates a disastrous pollution the people will have to clean it up. The tax
payers in the future will end up footing the bill for this project. In a town where there are barely
any jobs for the people this will send them into financial ruin. Also, the cleanup cost is extremely
unpredictable and any clean up contract or financial contract that is made with PolyMet is not
going to cover this cleanup cost because it is unpredictable. The people will have to pay the
cleanup cost. If PolyMet became unable to complete the project the state will not receive any
money that they put into the project. This will also guarantee money shortage. Some might say that
this project will help the town find it s footing in the long haul and therefore we should support it.
They are wrong. This project is a disaster waiting to happen because the true magnitude of it is
unpredictable and it is impossible to solve a problem that one did not see coming.
The PolyMet mining project should be immediately halted because it has a sustained life span of
two decades, PolyMet is backed by a questionable company, and any contamination to the
environment by the project will put the town and its people at a significant risk. Though it will
create jobs the town s people should not bank their success on this

Compare And Contrast The White Duster And The Duchess Of...
THE EVALUATION ART OF WEBSTER AS A DRAMATIST
ABSTRACT
Webster is one of the greatest dramatist in the Post Elizabethan period and his place is among
the tragedy writers of the Elizabethan Age. The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi, in these
two tragedies, he reveals himself as great dramatist, and his power to grip the imagination by
subtle suggestions. Both these plays present a study in revenge a subject dear to the heart of the
Elizabethan dramatists. Webster used psychological approach to characters, pessimism, satirical
intent and humanity in sense of pathos in his plays. That plays are value of men and women
have been plunged into and also struggled against wickedness have been the object of his study.
Webster s reputation rests on The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi. Opinions differ as to
which is the better. The Duchess of Malfi would probably be if a vote were taken but for
freshness and intensity of passion the white devil could be regarded as Webster s masterpiece.

There is a touch of humanity in his writings. Webster knows the art of touching the heart of the
readers by presenting spectacles of pathos in the plays. The Duchess of Malfi is marked with a
note of deep pathos and the heart of readers is touched for sad lot of the Duchess and Cariola who
meet their end at the hands of the executioners. In passionate vigour, Webster is inferior to
Beaumont and fletcher, but for downright imaginative beauty and pathos, Webster is
unapproachable, except by Shakespeare. Take for instance this; There is much pathos and beauty
also in The Duchess of Malfi especially in the scene of the murder, though the play as a whole
strikes one as less fresh in conception and more obvious in its claim upon our sympathies. The
tragedy is marked with a note of pathos and we feel sorry for the deaths of the innocent persons in

London Is The International Capital Of The World
It s safe to say that London is the international capital of the world, nestled perfectly in between the
west and the east, it has the ability to have an effect on the entire world culturally, politically, and
economically. It is for these reasons that London has emerged recently as the financial center of the
world. As regulation and immigration issues have slowed down New York, London has attracted
companies and investors that are looking for a save haven in turbulent times, London is seen as an
attractive location for foreign investment because it is seen as a very stable and secure city. Perhaps
the most attractive product that this international hub provides to foreign investors is real estate.
According to Financial Times, prime London housing prices have risen 73 percent from March
2009 to November 2014, this kind of substantial increase in property value is exactly what
international inventors are looking for (Norwood). Looking at Forbes study surveying where
international investors are putting their money proves this statement, 63% of investors increased
their property portfolios in the U.K. with London leading all European cities with 43% followed
by Paris with 19% and Frankfurt with 14% (Rapoza). Chief Executive of the Association of
Foreign Investors in Real Estate said this about the attractiveness of London, It s very easy to

My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay
I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because
of its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because
I lacked the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my
reading comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never
been an enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the
events that went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because
I ThoughtI would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would
mainly like to thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and
was quite easy to follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a
few authors that wrote big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of
myself for finishing this book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I
never did. Yet, being forced to read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bitof enjoyment
out of it. Without the great descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would
have been quite boring and hard to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each
event thoroughly enough to make it almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the
book was when David got off the

Themes In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech
Do you know what it s like to feel abandoned? In the book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
there are a lot of themes like independency, family and many others. The ones that I like the most
that I feel are the best and most represented are, motherhood and abandonment. I feel like in the
book Sal is the most affected by these themes. On the start of the book Sal and her father moved to
Euclid, Ohio after her mothers death. After that event Sal went through a lot of mixed feelings, she
was feelingenvious and guilty because she thought her mother wasn t happy with her so she was
envy that she wanted another child, and when her mother lost the baby she felt guilty thinking it
was her fault. She was also angry at her father because she thought he was the one who drove her
mother away. And she was also feeling like she was abandoned because her mother left , and
when the accident happened she felt sad because she never said goodbye to her mother and there
was also a lot more of change, changes she never wanted to happen. Before Sal s mother left her

Her mother left because when you become a mother you give a lot of things up, and she felt like
she had things to do to be happier. Also when her mother left she never said goodbye because she
thought she would came, back but then... the accident happened and Sal was actually very
mature about that, but inside she was really sad and abandoned. That is why most of the book is
Sal and her grandparents traveling from Ohio to Idaho (where her mother was buried) just so Sal
can say goodbye to her. And that Sal could have the closure she needed, to move on. She was also
feeling like there was way too much changes going on, like the move to Euclid, her and her father
living without her mother for good, and also

DNA Testing
Research Question: To what extent has the advancement in DNA testing prevented wrongful
convictions and saved the lives of innocent civilians?
Introduction
The advancement of DNA profiling in the recent decades has globally revolutionized the justice
system and significantly changed the course of criminal cases along with it. The application of DNA
technology in the identification of biological material has changed forensic biology since it allows
for stronger conclusions in identities be made. It essentially creates a link between a suspect and
the physical evidence that was retrieved from a crime scene. DNA sampling is considered
convenient technology because very little DNA is needed in identifying an individual, and all the

DNA testing was first adopted in forensics around the late 1980s, when the technique became
scientifically and statistically robust enough to pin down crimes to those responsible for them.
It all started in 1987 in Florida when a rapist named Tommy Lee Andrews became the first person
in the U.S. who was convicted as a result of DNA evidence and was sentenced to 22 years in
prison. Due to samples of DNA from semen that matched the DNA from Andrew s blood, the
prosecutor was able to influence the jury with Andrew s justifiable guilt (Thompson 14). It was
a revolutionary success because it allowed the jury to make a confident and unanimous decision
by not simply deciding an individual s future based on the persuasively worded and bias
arguments from the prosecution and defense, but rather on tangible physical evidence that
stated the facts that nobody could change or sway with words. Another famous case that DNA
evidence helped to prove justice was the trial of Timothy Spencer, but who was better known as
the South Side Strangler (Baker). Spencer went around Virginia conducting many murders and
rapes, but his manipulative crimes left no witnesses behind to formally pin Spencer down and
accuse and punish him of the committed crimes (Baker). After analzing the DNA left on his
vicitms however, prosecutors were finally able to match Spencer with the victims and hold him
responsible (Baker). Spencer was immediately given the death penalty due to the murders he had
committed. Not only was Spencer rightfully punished, it lead to the release of a man who was
wrongfully imprisoned for five years of the killing of Hamm, later proven by DNA evidence to
have been Spencer as well (Baker). When no witnesses were left to tell the world what had
happened at the crime scenes, evidence was left behind

Natural Remedies And Its Effects
Natural remedies have been used throughout history and within every culture to prevent and treat
diseases. Specifically, plants have provided the foundation to alternative medicine, with some such
as digoxin becoming adopted into conventional medicine (Walden Tomlinson, 2011). Garlic
(Allium sativum) in specific has a long history of both medicinal and culinary use, and has been
more closely examined than many other herbs due to its weight in health benefits. The intact cells
of garlicbulbs contain an odourless sulphur containing amino acid, allinin, which has potent
antibacterial properties and is highly odoriferous and unstable (Ebadi, 2006). Alliin is acted upon
by the enzyme allinase to produce allicin, which produces the characteristic garlic odour and
much of the pharmacological activity of garlic (Ebadi, 2006; Braun Cohen, 2010). Asides from
organosulfur compounds, garlic bulbs also contain protein, amino acids, fibre, lipids, phytic acid,
saponins, beta sitosterol and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, chromium, iron
and selenium; all of which contribute largely to the medicinal use of garlic (Braun Cohen, 2010).
This essay seeks to explore in depth the cardioprotective, anti microbial and potentially anti cancer
actions of garlic as growing evidence suggests these as the more effective natural remedy uses of
garlic (Boon Smith, 2004). Garlic has often been claimed as an effective herbal remedy for
preventing chronic diseases

Charles Dickens and William Marley s Beliefs in the...
William Marley grew up in London. The celebrated writer Charles Dickens often visited William s
father, a renowned and wealthy doctor with a shared interest in child welfare. Dickens loved
unusual names. He decorated his writings with them. At a party at the Marley home in 1843 he
promised to make his host s then uncommon surname a household word. In A Christmas Carol,
published that December, he named the main protagonist in the story for his friend. By New Years
Eve, the book had sold fifteen thousand copies, and Dickens had honoured his promise. Throughout
the United Kingdom, people spoke the names Scrooge, Cratchit, Fezziwig... and Marley.
Dickens believed that if all children, whatever their circumstance, could attend school, society
would benefit. The social message of A Christmas Carol inspired widespread enthusiasm for
universal education; enthusiasm which gained momentum throughout the Victorian era, even in far
distant corners of the Her Majesty s Realm.
William Marley followed his father into medicine, but never achieved the same success. By
1884 he toiled far from the culture and learning of London in a remote corner of the Empire. He
had little time to ponder social welfare or literary interests. At fifty years of age, guilt and worry
clouded his days. In Stanthorpe, where he first lived in Queensland, and then here in Port Douglas,
he and his wife had led active social lives. That lifestyle cost money. Now ill, and convinced he

Comparison Of Post-Modernism And The Modern Movement
The Arisen of Post Modern movement for the replacement of the Modern movement in the way of
constructing architecture Post Modernism could be a new paradigm in architecture to replace
Modernism and it is also known as the Critical Modernism. It is committed to pluralism, the
heterogeneity of our cities and global culture, and it acknowledges the variety of taste cultures and
visual codes of the users (Jencks, 2002). Post Modernists agree that the cultures at different stages
of growth and the history behind of it had made up the world. This pluralism had become the
essential fact, in our life and the differences had to be preserved and cultivated. Post modern
movement had rejected the endless repetition in the architectureand welcome the new individualized

Contrary to the Modern movement, Post Modernism had placed great emphasis on the
communication of architecture between humans and the environment. Robert Venturi once said
before that architecture as a system of communications within society to satisfy the need for
explicit and heightened symbolism (Trachtenberg and Hyman, 2003). Post modernism architecture
was often designed to convey the message that carries ironic meaning or criticism that challenge
the status quo to the public. The forms of an architecture or a space will also respond to the
emotional needs. The communication of an architecture between humans and the built
environment will all depends on the form created. The architecture or space s overall suitability
will first be judged by its general form, even before the consumer has had the chance of making
use of it or physically experiencing it. It is, therefore, very important to note that emotional needs
are equally as pressing as corporal needs, and experience shows that the lines between the two
sometimes become so

Brand Building Blocks
BRAND BUILDING BLOCKS
Building Strong Brands: Why Is It Hard?
It is not easy to build brands in today s environment. The brand builder who attempts to develop a
strong brand is like a golfer playing on a course with heavy roughs, deep sand traps, sharp doglegs,
and vast water barriers. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and
barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. To be able to develop effective
brand strategies, it is useful to understand these pressures and barriers
Different factors that make it difficult to build brands are shown in the figure above. The first,
pressure to compete on price, directly affects the motivation to build brands. The second reason, the

What, then, happens to the people who support the brand with market research or other brand
building activities? They are vulnerable to the organizations new cost culture.
2. Proliferation Of Competitors
New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have
watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their markets through brand extension
strategies. In the snack category, Frito Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser s
Eagle brand break out of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide
real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated
water, fruit based drinks, and new age drinks, among others.
Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make
it much harder to gain and hold a position. They leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and
fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target
markets become smaller, and the non target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad
segment thus become more difficult in the face of the complex brandscape Further, some new or
desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can
be destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy
anything that is successful, in part because the risks of

Minor Breaches Within The Boundary
Minor breaches in boundary such as briefly touching the clients hands to show support when they
are very emotional is considered insignificant and can sometimes be beneficial to client, however,
major breaches such as regularly answering client s call outside of workplace is more severe, and
can be harmful to client s treatment (Williams and Swartz, 1998). Britzman and Pitt (1996)
described transferenceas impression of unresolved past conflict with others that is projected into the
new interaction and relationship. Usher (2013) suggested that transference occurs when the client
makes fabricated connection to the therapist. Freud proposed that transference occurs
unconsciously in two ways: Template is when the client attempts to categorises all their later
relationship based on the earlier relationship; and repetition compulsion is when the client replays
traumatic past relationship or situation (Kahn, 2003). For example, if a client has a critical mother,
then, they will categorise all women of certain age and characteristics to that template. And client
sees the therapist as the critical mother and repetition causes them to act in certain ways to get the
reaction they want from the therapist. Freud found that transference occurs everywhere, and it is
not isolated to just therapy setting.
Freud found that all types of transference was indispensable for the therapist in understanding their
client s unconscious memories or wishes and gaining insight

What Is The Theme Of The Tyger Poem
Earth is a confusing place. One doesn t understand it, and yet wants to know it all. He has questions
that don t seem to have answers; questions about religion, science, nature and humanity. The poet
Blake documented one such question in his poem The Tyger. He had a desire to know about the
tiger. His fascination with the animal leads him to ask many questionsabout it, specifically about its
creator. Wondering who made the tiger, what its origin was, he asks in what place was such a
fierce creature designed. In what he has been taught about the physical world, he finds a scary
contrast between the character of the creator and the creation. Looking at the questions Blake did,
with what in mind the creator made the tiger, where it s from,... Show more content on

The third stanza goes on with those inquiries about the creator of the tiger. Blake asks what
shoulder, which is a metaphor for power or work, could create the tiger; he asks what art could
make such a thing. The use of the word art points to beauty, which shows mixed feelings about
the tiger: both horrible and beautiful, and perhaps somewhat allegorical. Blake s interest in the
tiger continues for two more lines, only this time he looks at the horror, and after that stanza
number four delves into the making of the tiger. This looks like blacksmith imagery, for a
hammer, chain, anvil, and furnace are all the tools of someone who forges things out of iron.
This metaphorical stanza indicates two things: first, the tiger is made of tough steel, not out of
delicate silver, gold, and gems; now no longer can one find symbols of the tiger s beauty in the
poem, just of its terror. Second, In what furnace was thy brain points to the tiger s aggressive
nature, and thereafter Blake indicates that such a nature is not one from a good place, but from a
nasty hellish place, filled with fire and brimstone: from a

Essay To Be A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision. Like
everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time consuming. However, being involved
in the medical field was always something that I longed to do. Most other kids want to be a
firefighter, police man, or President of the United States. For me I always knew that my heart
belonged in the hospital. It all started in the 4th grade. That s when I knew that being in the
medical field is what I ve always wanted to do. This day, my 4th grade teacher gave us an
assignment while learning science. We were specifically learning about the heart and it s 4
chambers. This subject, I remember, was so captivating and fascinating for me. I soaked in all
the information I got from this class extremely easily. It was unlike any of the other classes that
I have taken thus far. Math, literature and history were not subjects that I thought were very
interesting for me but science was something that I especially excelled in. As the years went by I
learned that I was especially had an interest in forensics. The ability to see the open body one on
one in the fashion that forensics get to have contact with a body was more than interesting for
me. So at the age of 12, I decided that forensics was what I was gonna put my mind to. The first
thing I did was let my mother know that I finally have an idea of where I was going with my life.
Unfortunately, she completely disliked the idea of me

Dissociative Identity Disorder
The DSM 5 defines dissociative identity disorder (DID) as the occurrence of a minimum of two
different personalities and maybe more than two. It also clarifies that the switching between the
distinct personalities can be observed by the individual who is suffering from dissociative identity
disorder or witnessed by others. (Barlow, 2014, P. 1). This disorder used to be known as multiple
personality disorder, which is more recognized and understood to people without a psychology
background. This disorder can be quite intense to including the different identities have different
names, backgrounds, and memories. Dissociative identity disorderis fairly common in clinical
residents. It is believed that dissociative identity disorder has been around for as long as human
populations have been around. The most primitive cases of an individual suffering from DID
correspond with early cases on Mesmerism. Mesmerism was also known as hypnosis or animal
magnetism. There is a reason for these two occurring together in history and that is they have an
inherent association. The main thing DID and Mesmerism share is that they both deal with the

Modern Day Pirates Research Paper
For centuries, all forms of crime have been displayed across history. Since the time of the Greek
civilization, pirates have roamed the seas. These men and women have left their homes and
families in a daring attempt to take what does not belong to them, all in the name of money and
glory. Even today, pirates are still a present and very real threat to trade ships and their crews all
over the world, with the areas of pirate activity shifting from one sea to the next over time. As
time and technology has moved on, so too have the methods and effectiveness of these sea thieves.
The pirates of the Golden Age were bloodthirsty savages who wanted to live a truly free life and to
become wealthy, and when compared to modern day pirates they could be considered more
dangerous and effective than their modern day counterparts.... Show more content on

Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing
| 2012| | Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing |
| |
Over the last years the focus of marketing has changed from transactional to relationship marketing
because companies realized that is cheaper to keep old customers rather than attracting new ones.
Also this shift has occurred because of the intense rivalry that can be noticed in every industry.
Besides its main goal of retaining customers and encouraging repeats, relationship marketing also
creates value through relationships between buyers and sellers as well inside the organisation, or
external with competitors, suppliers and distributors. A develop definition of relationship marketing
by Christian Grönroos in 1989 would be: The purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improving customer satisfaction and longevity, providing a competitive edge and reducing
marketing expenses are just relationship marketing strategies that have a great impact on a
company. By adopting this marketing pattern, there are created benefits, not only for the service
firm but also for its loyal customers, such as lower marketing expenditures, stability, new barriers
for new competitors and reduced uncertainty. A big advantage for the relationship marketing
approach is that it lowers the operating costs. Having loyal customers means that the company gets
to know its buyers more and more with each transaction. Being based on a relationship approach, a
company requires less information about the customer because with each encounter with him, the
firm adds new information to the customer database. Strategically, a company based on the
relationship marketing, has long term customers increasing their profits. Having more advantages
for the customers than a traditional transactional marketing based company, a relationship
marketing approach confers the company the possibility of charging more for their services without
affecting the number of customers. A good example is the medical industry where a known
individual might be willing to pay more for a doctor they know rather than choosing a cheaper
competitor. In the services market a company may even charge more their premium customers for

Discuss the Ways in Which the Writers Present Ambition in...
In The White Devil by Webster and Paradise Lost Boox IX by Milton there are a handful of
characters that are driven by ambition. These characters often make foolish decisions to achieve
their goals, often with consequences. Both Webster and Milton present ambition as a positive
motivation but show that being over ambitious for personal gain has detrimental effects.
In The White Devil Webster presents Flamineo as the most ambitious character in the play. He is
driven by the personal goal of climbing up the class ladder and will go to any measures to ensure
this happens. In Act I, Scene II we see him act as a pander for Bracciano and Vittoria, dealing with
their meeting in a highly pragmatic way by deceiving Camillo so a meeting can ... Show more

In comparison to Flamineo Milton presents Satan as an ambitious character, again for person gain.
However, Satan s personal goal is not to heighten his own position but to lower the position of
God. However, unlike Flamineo, Satan fears the consequences of his actions from the start,
knowing he has been expelled from Eden before so travels cautious of day so not to be seen by
the angels and God as he looks for a way into Eden. Where Flamineo s actions are planned and he
acts practically, Satan is less calculated in his actions. He has to search for an animal in which to
hide in. He eventually settles for The serpent subtlest beast of all the field. Satan s actions are
foolish as although not seen in Book IX he is highly punished for his actions and is condemned
to life as a snake forever more. Milton uses epic similes within Book IX to show the actions of
Satan, one from lines 510 150 shows Satan s ambition is so strong he will go the long way
around like a skilful steersman to achieve his final goal. This epic simile is particularly
impressive as the beginning of the lines of the simile form an acrostic, the first letter of each line
spelling out SATAN . However, as Chloe Batt highlights in her essay The remaking of the Epic
Milton doesn t restrict himself solely to the epic mode and instead Milton defends his

Jonah s Attempt For Escape His Divine Mission
Jonah s Attempt to Escape His Divine Mission The book of Jonah is a fascinating one. It is full
of intrigue, suspense, questions, and unbelievable events that let the discerning believer in on the
awesome power of God s correction, His love, and especially His grace. For some reason Jonah,
though a prophet of God who seemingly was willing to follow the Lord s commands, did not adopt
the grace attribute of God s character. Jonahwas judgmental, as human beings often are, and he
could not see past the egregious sin of Ninevehin order to understand the grace and the heart of
God. Nineveh was a city saturated with sin. Its inhabitants performed evil deeds in the sight of
God. The Assyrian empire ruled this very important city and all of... Show more content on

He wanted Nineveh totally destroyed. Jonah did not believed that the Ninevites deserved another
chance, possibly because of the ferociousness of their sin, so he decided that he was not going to
bring the prophetic word of God before them. Knowing that his words had the power to change
people s minds, Jonah did not want even the slightest chance of Nineveh repenting to God (Jonah
1:3). Some ministers in modern day would be wise to revisit the book of Jonah. So many refuse to
preach in certain places because they feel the sin is too great, or that God cannot meet the need,
or even that they are not the right person to bring the word to that group of people. They will
claim, as Jonah did, that the people do not deserve mercy; therefore, it is better to run from the
task (and God) than to preach a word that might change the hearts of man. In running from God,
readers can see just how stubborn and steadfast in his convictions Jonah was. He boarded a boat
to Tarshish hoping foolishly to escape the presence of the Lord (Jonah 1:3). This is an interesting
tactic because as a prophet of God, and a very successful prophet at that, Jonah knew that there
was no where he could go to escape God. For the reader, one would do well to remember that God
omnipresent. He is everywhere all the time. He is also omniscient, so he hears every thought that
enters the mind and knows the exact intentions of each person s

Oppression Of Women In Medea By Euripides
In Medea, Euripides challenges the taboo of writing and speaking up for the women of ancient
Greece which resulted in the unpopularity of Euripides work. He wrote about a female character
who is socially mistreated and that performs barbaric actions that are usually seen from victims of
unfair abuse. Medeais the female character who can be perceived to have gone mad due to extreme

Multi Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT). MDFT is an integrated and comprehensive, family
centered treatment for youth experiencing problems and disorders. According to Multi Dimensional
Family Therapy, it prevents out of home placement; and focuses on key areas of the adolescent s
life by providing effective and cost efficient treatment (An Evidence Based Intervention.) . The
model targets a range of youth behavior problems that consist of substance abuse, delinquency,
antisocial and aggressive behaviors, school and family problems, and emotional difficulties. Its
overall goal is to eliminate substance abuse, crime, delinquency, and to improve mental health,
school, and family functioning. It aims to improve the adolescent s coping, problem solving, and
decision making skills, and enhance family functioning, which is a critical ingredient in positive
youth development (An Evidence Based Intervention.) . This model was chosen during therapy
because it has many factors that will contribute to the anticipated improvements in Lisa and Ms.
Bowler.
Strengths and Weaknesses of the Model:
One strength of MDFT is that it is proven effective. According to Multi Dimensional Family

Applying Learning Theory to Life
Epistemology, or in other words, the theory of knowledge, is the study of knowledge, what it is,
how we acquire it, and our justifiable beliefs that are included in that study. Generally, the study of
knowledge is done through a philosophical method. There are four basic theories of learning; those
are behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism; this paper will address these four
theories of learning, in addition, we will address principles of learning, schema and scaffolding,
adaption, metacognition, and strategies to ensure learning success.
The term behaviorism refers to the school of psychology founded by John B. Watson. Behaviorism
theory is based on the idea that behaviors can be measured, trained, and changed. In D. A.
Lieberman s book Psychology of learning (2012, Ch. 2.3), he states, Watson believed that
psychologists should be concerned with overt behavior rather than the hidden processes of the
mind, and he argued for a greater concern with practical applications . This this theory believes that
all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Behaviorism attempts to measure through
observation of behavior, using the observations to control behavior through conditioning.
The term cognitivism refers to the school of psychology based on how the brain processes
information and memory. Cognitivism

Physical Differences InCathedral, By Raymond Carver
In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the
story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences.
Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing
that the main characters connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the
importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages
emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how
they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people.
The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked
at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking
is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and
gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object.
The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me.
My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never
laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic
counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their
appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the
beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between
Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection
with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked.
The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this
ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is
exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to
look at the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by
his actions: I reached to draw her robe back

Stanley Fish s Article Stepping On Jesus
Stanley Fish s article Stepping On Jesus, talks about the idea of a higher power and how some will
defy higher authorities in order to respect their values. While not everyone believes in a higher
power, many will show signs of respect, Fish does not idolize these students. Throughout the article,
Fish states many different points and beliefs on what is right and the different teaching methods.
Fish sticks up for these teaching methods and not the students. However, the students should be the
ones getting stuck up for. In Fish s article in the New York Times, he aims to show both sides of
the controversial assignments given to students. These assignments aim for the beliefand strong
views that students hold. They start discussions and many students even refuse to complete them
due to their insensitivity to their beliefs. Fish tries to persuade the readers that when something
attacks someone s personal belief, they tend to react and fight for what they think is right. Fish also
shows both sides of the arguments by talking about how the assignments are uneasy. Furthermore,
how the professors do not mean to attack anyone they simply want to engage students in
controversial topics and allow students who do deny the assignments to reaffirm their faith. Fish
uses various examples in order to get his point across to the readers. For Fish s first example, and
also his biggest one, he talks about the studentwho refused to perform the assignment of writing

Medical And Clinical Services For The National Health Service
1.Introduction:
The healthcare employees are fundamental part of medical and clinical service these days. They
are responsible for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Therefore, it is
crucial to provide them with an appropriate training and professional development plan which
will help to improve the service offered to patients. Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) is a
UK wide initiative which was established in 2008 by the Department of Health (DH) led by the
Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to address education and training needs to the whole healthcare
workforce in the National Health Service (NHS) and associated bodies (MSC: The facts, 2013).

The main aim of MSC initiative was to ensure that all healthcare professionals will be able to
respond to the upcoming advances and difficulties facing health and social care system as well as
deliver high quality services to patients and continue to play a major role in healthcare future (An
overview of Modernising Scientific Careers, 2010). Therefore, this piece of work will concentrate
mainly on evaluation of MSC programme and presentation of benefits for patients, medical
professionals and their employers.
2.Aims of MSC programme and its implications:
The main aim of the MSC scheme is to deal with challenges within the healthcare science
workforce in terms of education, skill differences and planning, by providing a clear framework
of education and workforce development (MSC: The facts, 2013). Suitable education and
professional development plan is essential for scientific workforce to provide best service to the
patients. It also helps to ensure that all employees are directed into clear career pathways,
education and training programmes in a common framework for the whole of the scientific
workforce at all levels of practice (An overview of Modernising Scientific Careers, 2010). MSC has
been structured in particular way so all training needs are clearly recognised for each specialism.
The structure of scientific careers was designed into four main levels by MSC representatives as it
is presented below in Table 1.

The Importance Of Freedom In The United States
Since this country s inception, America has been a haven of freedom for all its citizens. Beginning
with the Pilgrims, who came to this new world in an effort to escape persecution for the
fundamental aspects of their cultural identity. The Pilgrims show, that these freedoms existed even
before this country decided to build its country foundation upon them. The men who founded this
great nation, looked back in history as they penned what is now known as the Constitution. This
unprecedented unionВґs law code was not brought to bear based entirely upon newly created
principles. Rather, they employed principles from many other historical documents, including the
Magna Carta, and George MasonВґs 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights. Shortly after the
foundation of the country, the requisite for an iron willed leader arose. A retired general was called
to the forefront of the newly created Union. General George Washingtonreluctantly accepted the
power of the newly created office. In truth, he created the powers afforded to the vocation now
known as president, it has even been said he had to decline the title of king. The first president
served this country honorably, before stepping down after the conclusion of this second term. He
had declined the title of king in name, and would now also decline the role of a despot by staying
in power for more than two terms. This set a long precedent of self imposed term limits for
presidents to come, a precedent that would last until the modern era of the presidency with
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This Union was tested again during the Civil War. A time
when slavery divided this country greatly. When, a single issue, threatened to break the bonds of
patriotism. For it was Benjamin Franklin, who, when asked what type of government the nation
would now have after the valiant victory years before in the American Revolution, he said, ВЁA
republic, if you can keep it.ВЁ Though, for once in the nation s history, there was a legitimate fear
that the bonds of our shared heritage could not save the republic from those that expressed an
inclination to exacerbate the minimal contempts between the two factions. President Lincoln, in his
Gettysburg Address, said, ВЁNow we are

Analysis Of Sara Content Analysis Approach
6.How were the data then analyzed? What procedures were used? (pgs. 88 89)
The data were analyzed with the SARA content analysis approach. This approach involves constant
comparison, multisource and multipass strategies, and triangulation of data sets for more robust
findings (86). Audiotape recordings, researcher observations and intentional debriefings after each
focus group were used to document the focus group sessions. The researchers constructed themes
and dimensions in an attempt to identify the messages communicated in the focus group sessions.
The idea of multipass strategies is to continue data analysis until no new findings or insights
emerge. The focus of the study using SARA was on the meaning of the experiences in the words
of the participants and not how some researchers use SARA by counting how frequently certain
words are used. Validity was based on the collective results of all focus groups and the saturation of
common themes and responses.
The researchers analyzed the data in eight different passes as noted below:
1.Each researcher independently analyzed all of the transcripts, reading carefully and writing down
important information.
2.The researchers collectively discussed the information provided in #1 above and agreed on
commonalities and differences among the individual analysis.
3.Themes (labels) emerged and the researchers developed definitions to describe these themes.

However, the desert scene and mountains suggest that this was painted in Southern California. In
the background, one can see a man leading a pack animal, a woman, and an infant along a road
towards the church, identified by the cross on the rooftop. There are no shadows to define form in
the background. This is, again, a contrast to the shadows made by the Madonna in the foreground.
The lack of shadows, however, does not make the background look flat. The Impressionist styled
painting and the lack of detail in the background creates a distant look that gives depth to the
painting. The numerous contrasts between the background and the foreground allows the artist to
subtly draw the viewer?fs attention towards the foreground. These contrasts help grab the viewer?fs
gaze and direct it to the most important part of the painting: the woman and baby. Wayside
Madonna has some clear iconography. The woman dominating the foreground is a direct allusion to
the Virgin Mary. Seated and holding a sleeping male baby in her arms, a violet robe drapes over
the figure. The woman wears a simple white outfit and adoringly looks down towards the baby.
This depiction is very similar to the common depiction of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus in
religious European art. An important difference between the European religious Virgin Mary and
Wayside Madonna is the skin color. The Virgin Mary in European art is often painted as white
skinned.

George Bush Multilateralism
In the days surrounding president George W. Bush s address to the United Nations regarding the
political climate in Iraq, Washington had become a whirlpool of two different approaches:
unilateralism and multilateralism. After an attempt to appeal to both sides in Washington with his
initial address to the UN, George Bush s action of waging an arguably unjustified war against Iraq
without assistance from the United Nations can ultimately be explained using realist theory.
The dominant approach supported by Bush s Republican party was unilateralism. Assuming the
Republicans led by Cheney and Rumsfeld were truly under the impression that Saddam Hussein
possessed weapons of mass destruction, while also having ties to international terrorist groups, their
wishes were not irrational. The unilateralists felt that every day the United States did not act was
another day closer to an attack like 9/11. The main idea behind realism is that war is inevitable, and

Liberalism is centered around the ideal that peace is maintained through policy, rather than war.
In the eyes of a regulatory liberalist, international organizations can peacefully facilitate conflicts
before they turn into war. Powell urged Bush to seek the UN security council s assistance in re
administering nuclear inspections teams within Iraq. The idea was that the inspections teams
would find monitor Iraqi facilities to keep Hussein under control. If Saddam did not agree, then
war could be waged. The key is seeking alternative means of promoting peace before waging a
costly war. Under republican liberalism, democratic states do not wage war under the premise that
the citizens pay the costs of war. The multilateralists knew the war and reconstruction of Iraq would

will be incorporated into the beam line to enable imaging at a resolution approaching 10 nm [1].
X Ray Fluorescence Microscopy (XFM):
The basic principle behind the X ray Fluorescence microscopy (XFM) is the exposure of X ray
beam on the sample. The technique is employed to establish the elemental concentrations for wide
range of samples in multiple locations of cells and tissue samples. It has excellent sensitivity for the
detection of trace elements. This technique is enabling to image the whole cell along with the
quantification of elements on the per cell basis. This is because of the large penetration depth of
the hard X rays used. Cryogenic approach is used to investigate the samples in their natural or
hydrated state. Due to the third generation synchrotron drastic development was

Debate on Columbus Day Essay
To change Columbus Day to no longer be a holiday would be turning a blind eye to a difficult
history, yet still turning that eye away from a history with a side to be celebrated. I instead ask
of you to celebrate Columbus Day, learn the full history, including the wrong doings of
Columbus and his crew, and celebrate the good change brought about by this event that
ultimately led to the lifestyle you lead today. If the wrongs of every event in history were to be
scrutinized would we have a history left to celebrate? Think of the reasons why we celebrate a
moment in history, and then think why we have not excluded that from our celebrations. I believe
it is to celebrate the good times and the bad and to never forget why we are here in this... Show

Even when we look at something in a holiday that isn t negative, like the Christmas tree, which
there aren t conifers in Jerusalem, it shows how much our holidays can be skewed from a
tradition which was originally practiced. Even the other holidays honoring great men can have a
darker side. MLK day for example; Martin Luther King, or Michael Luther King, was under
scrutiny because his doctorate had blatant plagiarism, also his I Have a Dream speech was
plagiarized from a pastor from his church he attended. This shows that history and the light we view
people in can be skewed to retain the honor or the pomp and circumstance that comes with
remembering the good brought about by their achievements.
Beyond the fact that Columbus was not the first person to discover the Americas, he was the man
that brought about European civilization to America and their fascination with conquering a new
world. His wrong doings, which include, letting his crew rape, pillage and plunder the Bahamas,
should not outweigh the good that coming to America brought for us as Americans who, without
European influence may not have progressed quite as far or in the circumstances we did. As with
the Colombian exchange that was brought about by Columbus venture to the Americas it is a box
of good and evil. With the disease and captured indigenous people, the Columbian Exchange
brought a trade of new plants and animals and ideas to further

Anna Karenina Analysis
Anna Karenina is a story told in three locations: the two Russian major cities of Moscow and St.
Petersburg and the rural countryside. Each location holds special connotations that are reflected in
events and characters that live there. Tolstoy, a fan of the countryside himself, uses the lives of
Levin and, to a lesser extent, Kitty to illustrate the moral superiority of the countryside over its
more urban counterparts. On the other end of the spectrum is St. Petersburg, a city of superficiality
and immorality; the negative implications of this location is portrayed through the lives and tragic
downfalls of St. Petersburg natives and inhabitants Anna and Vronsky. Finally, the city of Moscow
is portrayed as an area in between the two extremes. Inferior to the glorious countryside but
superior to the sinful St. Petersburg, Moscow is a romantic city. It is a city of wavering moralityand
short lived dreams; it is portrayed through the lives of the Oblonsky family, and to a lesser extent,
Anna and Vronsky s temporary bliss together. The three locations in Anna Kareninathe moral
countryside, immoral St. Petersburg, and ambiguous Moscow are vital in developing the noveland
its characters by adding another subtle layer to one s understanding of the text. Anna Karenina s
treatment of the countryside serves to illustrate its moral superiority, as shown with the character of
Levin and, to some extent, his wife Kitty. Straightaway, when the reader first meets Levin, a strong

Persuasive Essay On Red Panda
Today, in a world of destruction some species who have existed have gone extinct. Some would
argue that since extinction is a natural, a normal thing, so humans shouldn t pay much attention.
Studies show that 99% of currently endangered animals are at risk due to human activity. There are
people who believe that animals who are endangered shouldn t be protected because of the cost on
saving these animals are too high and outweighs the possible benefits. The animal I would want to
protect from extinctionand save is the Red Panda.
The Red Panda is part of the endangered species due to the decline of their habitat loss and
fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression, although red pandas are protected by
national laws in their range countries. According to the recent data by IUCN Red Panda is listed
as Endangered because its population has plausibly declined by 50% over the last three
generations (estimated at 18 years) and this decline is projected to continue, and probably intensify,
in the next three generations. This is due to the fact that their natural habitat is shrinking as more
and more forests are destroyed. Red Pandas are often difficult to be seen in its favored habitat in
the bamboo forests in the Eastern Himalayas. Less than 10,000 exist in the wild today, threatened
by habitat loss, grazing pressures and hunting. Red pandas are often killed when they get caught in
traps meant for other animals such as wild pigs and deer. They are also poached for their

Rockabilly Music In The 1950 s
Rockabilly music became popular in the mid fifties due largely in part to the
introduction of Elvis Presley. In 1954 this 19 year old Mississippi native took the radio
waves by storm with songs that were unlike anything the American public had heard
before. This new sound was an amalgamation of genres, pulling elements from what was
considered hillbilly music (country and western, folk, bluegrass) and colored music
(rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel.) While the roots of rockabilly are much indebted to
country music, they are quite different genres.
Different styles of country and western music had been popular since the Great
Depression era. By the early 1940s the Billboard charts began listing the top country
songs for the week, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The style of country that these artists performed is
commonly termed honkytonk, which refers to the bars where this style was performed.
Honkytonk can be characterized by its upbeat rhythm with a midtempo, purposeful,
gently swinging shuffle and slower ballads, and by the sounds of the steel guitar and

fiddle (Fontenot). Songs generally dealt with issues of alcoholism and unfaithfulness,
undoubtedly connected to the bars of the genre s origin.
While country music was popular across the country it was in the South were this
genre would blend with colored music. Although the desegregation of black and white
cultures was fought harder in the South the rich history of Southern race music found its
way to the ears of white teenagers below the Mason Dixon line. The white teens from
poorer backgrounds growing up in border states concocted the pulsating mixture of
African America inspired rhythm and blues and country and western that would mold
into rockabilly (Szatmary, 30). Country and western was not eliciting much controversy
but the introduction of Elvis would stir the

African Colonialism And Its Effects On Africa
In the 1800 s countries were in search for land to expand their country into, this happened to many
places including Africa. Colonialism was a time when countries took control of another land, which
they then governed through direct or indirect rule depending on the country. During this time,
Africa was most sought after due to its resources and its uninhabited land. Due to this, all colonial
powers scrambled to get their hands on a piece of Africain order to expand their areas of rule. As a
result of the scramble for Africa the Berlin Conference was held. At this conference
representatives from fourteen countries came together to divide up Africa s land (Africans had no
say in the matter, however). With colonial powers now in control, not everyone was pleased
seeing as the governing country was only using them for natural resources and economic gain,
which of course caused resistance with people refusing to assimilate to the colonial power.
Eventually, anti colonial movements sprung up and they did whatever they could to try and regain
their right to self rule. This ultimately led to boycotts, strikes, the formation of unions and political
parties just to regain independence. Independence was a struggle that happened in many ways,
such as violence and agreement as shown in Swaziland s case. Swaziland has a particularly special
story of colonialism, due to the fact that they started out just asking for some support.
Swaziland s journey toward colonialism started in the

The Rocking Horse Winner Analytical Essay
Everyone Has a Secret That Controls The Inside
By: Anna DeWitt
Decatur High School

Ms.Stahl
Living behind a façade in life can bring complications to those who value things in life. The
Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence is a symbolic short story that represents the idea that the
more one s values lie with material goods the less one is able to connect with reality or the
intangible tenets of life. This perspective is supported throughout the story by the direct
characterization of Hester and Paul, the use of personification and similes and in the rising action
to the conclusion s gradual release of detail.
D.H. Lawrence accomplishes the theme by using dramatic relationships with the characters, Paul

The yearning desire for wealth changed Paul s character, making him a round character by the
changes shown through his eyes in, his eyes had a strange glare in them... (298). Paul gained his
wealth by predicting the names of winning horses by riding on his rocking horse, his uncle
would take him to horse derby s where he would place high wages to earn money for love.
Money cannot buy love nor happiness as shown in, Quite moderately nice (304) Paul s mother
said in a voice so cold and absent it made him strive for more. Paul s greatest conflict is against
himself, because he allows pressure from his mother and society to drive him into a yearning for
money and social status, the outcome of this conflict resulted in his death.
The author uses symbolism to show the burning desire of acceptance in the higher class and how
it changed Paul s outlook on life. The rocking horse is an object Paul revolves his dependence on.
It is a symbol for his family desires, as a rocking horse has no end to its rocking, similar to his
family s cycle of materialism; there is no end to their quest of monetary gain of status in society
and wealth as said in, My family has been a gambling family... (305). The mother s family has a
past of gamblers and money cravers. Paul s increasing obsession for acceptance is shown through
his eyes in, his eyes were blue fire , flushed and with eyes blazing, was curiously

Women s Model Of Care
There not just apart of the furniture, they are apart of the community (Fire films, 2014, June 26).
Arcare in Australia recently changed their model of care to patient centered; with a successful
transition they are better able to support the elderly and staff at the care home and have provided
the elderly with a greater quality of life. Traditionally leisure based programs such as the leisure
ability model, have been implemented and focus on the client and assisting with independence and
appropriate leisure functioning, with 3 main ideas, education, participation and treatment (Stumbo
Peterson, 1998, p. 82 83). The leisure ability model is used all around the world and focuses on
an individuals internal locus (Stumbo Peterson, 1998, p. 82). As the quality manager, this model, I
believe is no longer relevant in current society. A move to the patient centered model would ensure
relationships are the focus, where all clients live in a supportive and encouraging community (Fire
films, 2014, June 26). The change to the patient centered model would ensure clients, staff,
volunteers and families are included and able to form loving and caring relationships. (Fire films,
2014, June 26). By exploring the negatives and benefits of change in regards to clients and staff
and also how the change would be implemented, a better understanding of the patient cantered
model can be established. The patient centered model does not just view an individual as elderly
but treats them as

  • 2. Manson s Family Of Young Teenage Runaways Now is the time for Helter Skelter, (Christian 2). The notorious murderer and cult leader Charles Manson announced Helter Skelter, a predicted racial war between whites and blacks in America, to his followers one morning in 1969 to prepare them for the chaos that they would inflict upon our country. The Manson Family, as it came to be known, gruesomely murdered several well known celebrities and regular civilians in a bloodbath of terror, which left millions of people aghast and deluged with an overwhelming sense of fear. The 1960 s were an extremely tumultuous era, and the well known Manson Cult crimes contributed profoundly to the carnage of the decade. Manson s family of young teenage runaways and loners first made a name for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slowly but surely, from 1967 to 1969, the Manson Family doubled in size, which provided Manson with more hands to carry out his maniacal plans and diabolical schemes. Each member was now a puppet tied to Manson s strings, and they would gratefully bend over backwards for their leader, their master, and their everything. In the beginning, the members of the Manson Family were mellow, laid back, and inebriated twenty four/seven; however, several members acquiesced to Manson s orders and practically placed themselves on the front page of every California newspaper. Tex Watson, Squeaky Frome, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten came to be known as Manson s most devoted followers (Christian 2). These individuals were willing to do all the dirty work for Manson, whatever the price might be. If Manson said Jump, they asked How high? , and if Manson said Kill, they asked How many? Additionally, a later recruited member, Linda Kasabian, would end up as the lookout for the gruesome murders carried out by her brothers and sisters (2). However, initially Linda had no clue what she signed herself up for, assuming that the Spahn Ranch was merely just a place to live, to do drugs, and to hook up with men; nonetheless, she soon got her eye opening view of the real Manson Family. • 4. Pathophysiology Research Paper 1a. Pathophysiology is a key factor in understanding how the body works. One aspect where it is very important is pH disturbances of the body. Respiratory alkalosis is when there is a commotion in the pH balance when there is alveolar hyperventilation in the lungs. This in return can cause a decline in pressure of carbon dioxidecausing an increase in bicarbonate. In return the pH level increases. Respiratory acidosisis a pH balance disturbance that occurs in response to alveolar hypoventilation. As carbon dioxide is produced ventilation failure increases the pressure of carbon dioxide. After this happens the pH level decreases. Metabolic alkalosis is an increase in the body s amount of bicarbonate. When the body loses too much hydrogen from the body, and/or retains too much bicarbonate, this issue can occur. Metabolic acidosis is an occurrence during which there is an increase in acids or a decrease in bicarbonate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Pagan Origins of Christianity Essay The first part of this paper will explore the mystery religions, the reasons behind their popularity, and the Hellenistic world in which they grew that began with Alexander the Great. Next, their characteristics and connections first with Judaism and later with Christianity will be more deeply discussed. In the second part it will be shown that the mystery religions helped to clear the pathway for the Christianization of the Greco Roman world by men such as Paul the Apostle. Finally, the Emperor Constantines role in this story will be mentioned, during whose reign the mystery religions declined and Christianitybecame the major religion of Europe and the near east. The paper will conclude with a brief speculation about the significance of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After learning these mysteria, members were considered reborn or born again. Christianity in fact began along these lines of practice. Its most important ceremony, the Mass or Eucharist, in which the body and blood of Christ were symbolically eaten in the forms of bread and wine, was forbidden to all but a select few who had completed three levels of initiation. Most early Christians, whether of Jewish or Gentile origin, would have been familiar the concept of mysteria. Throughout the Mediterranean world, religious communities based on this idea of secret teachings thrived. Another common element in the mystery religions was their tendency to worship the divine on what we today would think of as a higher spiritual level than standard Greek and Roman religions did. The idea of a spiritual world as separate from the material world, first promoted by Plato, was fully adopted by the mystery religions and provided them with a basis for belief in life after death. Conversely, ancient Greco Roman religion and Judaism contained nothing that addressed this new concept of separate worlds. Traditional public worship in both Jewish and Gentile communities generally emphasized the material world in its requests for good crops, healthy children and success in business. • 6. Argument Against A Paid Maternity Leave Essay All of the above are strong arguments for the pressing necessity of a mandated paid maternity leave. Nevertheless, the many opponents of this initiative are arguing otherwise. One argument against a paid maternity leave is based on the assumption that one of the parents should not be working in the first place. In other words, a full time stay at home parent is beneficial to the development of the child and therefore a paid limited time maternity leave is redundant and is simply a waste of resources. Suzanne Venker, a writer, insists that According to Public Agenda, 70% of parents with children under age five believe having a parent at home is best. And 63% disagree that children in daycare receive just as good care and attention as with a stay at home parent. These findings are commensurate with 2014 Pew data that shows 60% of Americans say children are better off when a parent stays home to focus on the family. ( Why Paid Maternity Leave Is Not the Answer. ) According to these findings, Americans are unlikely to agree to encourage mothers to put their children in childcare and go back to work, let alone spend money on a paid maternity leave. Nice try, Ms. Venker, but let s continue to read the mentioned 2014 Pew data till the end: Stay at home mothers are younger, poorer and less educated than their working counterparts. For example, 34% of stay at home mothers are poor, compared with 12% of working mothers. ( 7 Key Findings about Stay at home Moms. ) Let s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Polymet Case Study Mining Paper PolyMet is the first of a long list of companies that hope to take advantage of the world s largest untouched deposit of copper located beneath northeast Minnesota near Hoyt Lakes. The company is hopping to divulge 600 million dollars to operate an old mine in that area. The company has held multiple town meeting in hopes to sway the public into agreeing with the construction of the mine. Though this operation will create a lot of jobs (over 400 permanent jobs and thousands of temporary ones) it should immediately be halted due to not only environmental concerns but also ethics and moral concerns. If PolyMet s mine creates a disastrous pollution the people will have to clean it up. The tax payers in the future will end up footing the bill for this project. In a town where there are barely any jobs for the people this will send them into financial ruin. Also, the cleanup cost is extremely unpredictable and any clean up contract or financial contract that is made with PolyMet is not going to cover this cleanup cost because it is unpredictable. The people will have to pay the cleanup cost. If PolyMet became unable to complete the project the state will not receive any money that they put into the project. This will also guarantee money shortage. Some might say that this project will help the town find it s footing in the long haul and therefore we should support it. They are wrong. This project is a disaster waiting to happen because the true magnitude of it is unpredictable and it is impossible to solve a problem that one did not see coming. The PolyMet mining project should be immediately halted because it has a sustained life span of two decades, PolyMet is backed by a questionable company, and any contamination to the environment by the project will put the town and its people at a significant risk. • 8. Compare And Contrast The White Duster And The Duchess Of... THE EVALUATION ART OF WEBSTER AS A DRAMATIST ABSTRACT Webster is one of the greatest dramatist in the Post Elizabethan period and his place is among the tragedy writers of the Elizabethan Age. The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi, in these two tragedies, he reveals himself as great dramatist, and his power to grip the imagination by subtle suggestions. Both these plays present a study in revenge a subject dear to the heart of the Elizabethan dramatists. Webster used psychological approach to characters, pessimism, satirical intent and humanity in sense of pathos in his plays. That plays are value of men and women have been plunged into and also struggled against wickedness have been the object of his study. Webster s reputation rests on The White Devil and The Duchess of Malfi. Opinions differ as to which is the better. The Duchess of Malfi would probably be if a vote were taken but for freshness and intensity of passion the white devil could be regarded as Webster s masterpiece. INTRODUCTION John Webster began to write for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a touch of humanity in his writings. Webster knows the art of touching the heart of the readers by presenting spectacles of pathos in the plays. The Duchess of Malfi is marked with a note of deep pathos and the heart of readers is touched for sad lot of the Duchess and Cariola who meet their end at the hands of the executioners. In passionate vigour, Webster is inferior to Beaumont and fletcher, but for downright imaginative beauty and pathos, Webster is unapproachable, except by Shakespeare. Take for instance this; There is much pathos and beauty also in The Duchess of Malfi especially in the scene of the murder, though the play as a whole strikes one as less fresh in conception and more obvious in its claim upon our sympathies. London Is The International Capital Of The World It s safe to say that London is the international capital of the world, nestled perfectly in between the west and the east, it has the ability to have an effect on the entire world culturally, politically, and economically. It is for these reasons that London has emerged recently as the financial center of the world. As regulation and immigration issues have slowed down New York, London has attracted companies and investors that are looking for a save haven in turbulent times, London is seen as an attractive location for foreign investment because it is seen as a very stable and secure city. Perhaps the most attractive product that this international hub provides to foreign investors is real estate. According to Financial Times, prime London housing prices have risen 73 percent from March 2009 to November 2014, this kind of substantial increase in property value is exactly what international inventors are looking for (Norwood). • 10. My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because of its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because I lacked the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my reading comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never been an enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the events that went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because I ThoughtI would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would mainly like to thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and was quite easy to follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a few authors that wrote big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of myself for finishing this book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I never did. Yet, being forced to read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bitof enjoyment out of it. Without the great descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would have been quite boring and hard to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each event thoroughly enough to make it almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the book was when David got off the ... • 11. Themes In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech Do you know what it s like to feel abandoned? In the book Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech there are a lot of themes like independency, family and many others. The ones that I like the most that I feel are the best and most represented are, motherhood and abandonment. I feel like in the book Sal is the most affected by these themes. On the start of the book Sal and her father moved to Euclid, Ohio after her mothers death. After that event Sal went through a lot of mixed feelings, she was feelingenvious and guilty because she thought her mother wasn t happy with her so she was envy that she wanted another child, and when her mother lost the baby she felt guilty thinking it was her fault. She was also angry at her father because she thought he was the one who drove her mother away. And she was also feeling like she was abandoned because her mother left , and when the accident happened she felt sad because she never said goodbye to her mother and there was also a lot more of change, changes she never wanted to happen. That is why most of the book is Sal and her grandparents traveling from Ohio to Idaho (where her mother was buried) just so Sal can say goodbye to her. • 12. DNA Testing Research Question: To what extent has the advancement in DNA testing prevented wrongful convictions and saved the lives of innocent civilians? Introduction The advancement of DNA profiling in the recent decades has globally revolutionized the justice system and significantly changed the course of criminal cases along with it. The application of DNA technology in the identification of biological material has changed forensic biology since it allows for stronger conclusions in identities be made. It essentially creates a link between a suspect and the physical evidence that was retrieved from a crime scene. DNA sampling is considered convenient technology because very little DNA is needed in identifying an individual, and all the while the results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DNA testing was first adopted in forensics around the late 1980s, when the technique became scientifically and statistically robust enough to pin down crimes to those responsible for them. It all started in 1987 in Florida when a rapist named Tommy Lee Andrews became the first person in the U.S. who was convicted as a result of DNA evidence and was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Due to samples of DNA from semen that matched the DNA from Andrew s blood, the prosecutor was able to influence the jury with Andrew s justifiable guilt (Thompson 14). It was a revolutionary success because it allowed the jury to make a confident and unanimous decision by not simply deciding an individual s future based on the persuasively worded and bias arguments from the prosecution and defense, but rather on tangible physical evidence that stated the facts that nobody could change or sway with words. Another famous case that DNA evidence helped to prove justice was the trial of Timothy Spencer, but who was better known as the South Side Strangler (Baker). Spencer went around Virginia conducting many murders and rapes, but his manipulative crimes left no witnesses behind to formally pin Spencer down and accuse and punish him of the committed crimes (Baker). After analzing the DNA left on his vicitms however, prosecutors were finally able to match Spencer with the victims and hold him responsible (Baker). • 13. Natural Remedies And Its Effects Natural remedies have been used throughout history and within every culture to prevent and treat diseases. Specifically, plants have provided the foundation to alternative medicine, with some such as digoxin becoming adopted into conventional medicine (Walden Tomlinson, 2011). Garlic (Allium sativum) in specific has a long history of both medicinal and culinary use, and has been more closely examined than many other herbs due to its weight in health benefits. The intact cells of garlicbulbs contain an odourless sulphur containing amino acid, allinin, which has potent antibacterial properties and is highly odoriferous and unstable (Ebadi, 2006). Alliin is acted upon by the enzyme allinase to produce allicin, which produces the characteristic garlic odour and much of the pharmacological activity of garlic (Ebadi, 2006; Braun Cohen, 2010). Asides from organosulfur compounds, garlic bulbs also contain protein, amino acids, fibre, lipids, phytic acid, saponins, beta sitosterol and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, chromium, iron and selenium; all of which contribute largely to the medicinal use of garlic (Braun Cohen, 2010). This essay seeks to explore in depth the cardioprotective, anti microbial and potentially anti cancer actions of garlic as growing evidence suggests these as the more effective natural remedy uses of garlic (Boon Smith, 2004). • 14. Charles Dickens and William Marley s Beliefs in the... William Marley grew up in London. The celebrated writer Charles Dickens often visited William s father, a renowned and wealthy doctor with a shared interest in child welfare. Dickens loved unusual names. He decorated his writings with them. At a party at the Marley home in 1843 he promised to make his host s then uncommon surname a household word. In A Christmas Carol, published that December, he named the main protagonist in the story for his friend. By New Years Eve, the book had sold fifteen thousand copies, and Dickens had honoured his promise. Throughout the United Kingdom, people spoke the names Scrooge, Cratchit, Fezziwig... and Marley. Dickens believed that if all children, whatever their circumstance, could attend school, society would benefit. The social message of A Christmas Carol inspired widespread enthusiasm for universal education; enthusiasm which gained momentum throughout the Victorian era, even in far distant corners of the Her Majesty s Realm. William Marley followed his father into medicine, but never achieved the same success. By 1884 he toiled far from the culture and learning of London in a remote corner of the Empire. He had little time to ponder social welfare or literary interests. At fifty years of age, guilt and worry clouded his days. In Stanthorpe, where he first lived in Queensland, and then here in Port Douglas, he and his wife had led active social lives. That lifestyle cost money. Now ill, and convinced he would ... Post Modernists agree that the cultures at different stages of growth and the history behind of it had made up the world. Post modernism architecture was often designed to convey the message that carries ironic meaning or criticism that challenge the status quo to the public. The forms of an architecture or a space will also respond to the emotional needs. The communication of an architecture between humans and the built environment will all depends on the form created. The architecture or space s overall suitability will first be judged by its general form, even before the consumer has had the chance of making use of it or physically experiencing it. It is difficult to score well in such conditions. Substantial pressures and barriers, both internal and external, can inhibit the brand builder. Proliferation Of Competitors New, vigorous competitors come from a variety of sources. A host of food categories have watched Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice enter their markets through brand extension strategies. In the snack category, Frito Lay has seen regional brands expand and Budweiser s Eagle brand break out of its niche to become a major competitor. New product forms that provide real alternatives for the customer have encroached the soft drink market, bottled water, carbonated water, fruit based drinks, and new age drinks, among others. Additional competitors not only contribute to price pressure and brand complexity, but also make it much harder to gain and hold a position. They leave fewer holes in the market to exploit and fewer implementation vehicles to own. Each brand tends to be positioned more narrowly, the target markets become smaller, and the non target market becomes larger. Efforts to market to a broad segment thus become more difficult in the face of the complex brandscape Further, some new or desperate competitors may be motivated to take risks or attempt unusual approaches. The result can be destabilization of the competitive dynamics. There is also an enhanced motivation to copy anything that is successful, in part because the risks of ... Minor Breaches Within The Boundary Minor breaches in boundary such as briefly touching the clients hands to show support when they are very emotional is considered insignificant and can sometimes be beneficial to client, however, major breaches such as regularly answering client s call outside of workplace is more severe, and can be harmful to client s treatment (Williams and Swartz, 1998). Britzman and Pitt (1996) described transferenceas impression of unresolved past conflict with others that is projected into the new interaction and relationship. Usher (2013) suggested that transference occurs when the client makes fabricated connection to the therapist. Freud proposed that transference occurs unconsciously in two ways: Template is when the client attempts to categorises all their later relationship based on the earlier relationship; and repetition compulsion is when the client replays traumatic past relationship or situation (Kahn, 2003). For example, if a client has a critical mother, then, they will categorise all women of certain age and characteristics to that template. And client sees the therapist as the critical mother and repetition causes them to act in certain ways to get the reaction they want from the therapist. He had a desire to know about the tiger. His fascination with the animal leads him to ask many questionsabout it, specifically about its creator. Wondering who made the tiger, what its origin was, he asks in what place was such a fierce creature designed. The third stanza goes on with those inquiries about the creator of the tiger. Blake asks what shoulder, which is a metaphor for power or work, could create the tiger; he asks what art could make such a thing. The use of the word art points to beauty, which shows mixed feelings about the tiger: both horrible and beautiful, and perhaps somewhat allegorical. Blake s interest in the tiger continues for two more lines, only this time he looks at the horror, and after that stanza number four delves into the making of the tiger. This looks like blacksmith imagery, for a hammer, chain, anvil, and furnace are all the tools of someone who forges things out of iron. This metaphorical stanza indicates two things: first, the tiger is made of tough steel, not out of delicate silver, gold, and gems; now no longer can one find symbols of the tiger s beauty in the poem, just of its terror. A big advantage for the relationship marketing approach is that it lowers the operating costs. It is full of intrigue, suspense, questions, and unbelievable events that let the discerning believer in on the awesome power of God s correction, His love, and especially His grace. For some reason Jonah, though a prophet of God who seemingly was willing to follow the Lord s commands, did not adopt the grace attribute of God s character. Jonahwas judgmental, as human beings often are, and he could not see past the egregious sin of Ninevehin order to understand the grace and the heart of God. Nineveh was a city saturated with sin. He wanted Nineveh totally destroyed. Jonah did not believed that the Ninevites deserved another chance, possibly because of the ferociousness of their sin, so he decided that he was not going to bring the prophetic word of God before them. Knowing that his words had the power to change people s minds, Jonah did not want even the slightest chance of Nineveh repenting to God (Jonah 1:3). Some ministers in modern day would be wise to revisit the book of Jonah. So many refuse to preach in certain places because they feel the sin is too great, or that God cannot meet the need, or even that they are not the right person to bring the word to that group of people. They will claim, as Jonah did, that the people do not deserve mercy; therefore, it is better to run from the task (and God) than to preach a word that might change the hearts of man. In running from God, readers can see just how stubborn and steadfast in his convictions Jonah was. He boarded a boat to Tarshish hoping foolishly to escape the presence of the Lord (Jonah 1:3). This is an interesting tactic because as a prophet of God, and a very successful prophet at that, Jonah knew that there was no where he could go to escape God. Generally, the study of knowledge is done through a philosophical method. There are four basic theories of learning; those are behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism; this paper will address these four theories of learning, in addition, we will address principles of learning, schema and scaffolding, adaption, metacognition, and strategies to ensure learning success. The term behaviorism refers to the school of psychology founded by John B. Watson. Behaviorism theory is based on the idea that behaviors can be measured, trained, and changed. In D. A. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences. Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing that the main characters connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people. The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object. The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me. My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked. The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Beginning with the Pilgrims, who came to this new world in an effort to escape persecution for the fundamental aspects of their cultural identity. The Pilgrims show, that these freedoms existed even before this country decided to build its country foundation upon them. The men who founded this great nation, looked back in history as they penned what is now known as the Constitution. This unprecedented unionВґs law code was not brought to bear based entirely upon newly created principles. Rather, they employed principles from many other historical documents, including the Magna Carta, and George MasonВґs 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights. Shortly after the foundation of the country, the requisite for an iron willed leader arose. A retired general was called to the forefront of the newly created Union. General George Washingtonreluctantly accepted the power of the newly created office. In truth, he created the powers afforded to the vocation now known as president, it has even been said he had to decline the title of king. The first president served this country honorably, before stepping down after the conclusion of this second term. He had declined the title of king in name, and would now also decline the role of a despot by staying in power for more than two terms. This set a long precedent of self imposed term limits for presidents to come, a precedent that would last until the modern era of the presidency with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The nineteenth century brought about a change in women s education. Common schools were established in the 1820 s, which started to close the educational gap between men and women. Eventually, women were able to take over teaching jobs because it dealt with child nurturing, which was considered to be a female job. On woman who made a difference in women s rights during the nineteenth century was Susan B. Anthony. In 1872, she felt that women perceived the government as having no just powers. The Second Industrial Revolution saw an expansion in the variety of jobs available to women. There was a movement that consisted of women getting jobs as office clerks and administrative positions while the law still saw them as inferior to their husdands and fathers. The League of German Women s Associations, was a group of German women that gave support to all the women in their new careers. The wartime jobs produced lasting careers and life style changes for women. Some of the jobs they did were telephone operators, factory workers, seamstresses, and physicians. • 34. Analysis Of Sara Content Analysis Approach 6.How were the data then analyzed? What procedures were used? (pgs. 88 89) The data were analyzed with the SARA content analysis approach. This approach involves constant comparison, multisource and multipass strategies, and triangulation of data sets for more robust findings (86). Audiotape recordings, researcher observations and intentional debriefings after each focus group were used to document the focus group sessions. The researchers constructed themes and dimensions in an attempt to identify the messages communicated in the focus group sessions. The idea of multipass strategies is to continue data analysis until no new findings or insights emerge. The focus of the study using SARA was on the meaning of the experiences in the words of the participants and not how some researchers use SARA by counting how frequently certain words are used. Validity was based on the collective results of all focus groups and the saturation of common themes and responses. The researchers analyzed the data in eight different passes as noted below: 1.Each researcher independently analyzed all of the transcripts, reading carefully and writing down important information. 2.The researchers collectively discussed the information provided in #1 above and agreed on commonalities and differences among the individual analysis. 3.Themes (labels) emerged and the researchers developed definitions to describe these themes. 4.The data were coded into themes by each individual ... However, the desert scene and mountains suggest that this was painted in Southern California. In the background, one can see a man leading a pack animal, a woman, and an infant along a road towards the church, identified by the cross on the rooftop. There are no shadows to define form in the background. This is, again, a contrast to the shadows made by the Madonna in the foreground. The lack of shadows, however, does not make the background look flat. The Impressionist styled painting and the lack of detail in the background creates a distant look that gives depth to the painting. The numerous contrasts between the background and the foreground allows the artist to subtly draw the viewer?fs attention towards the foreground. These contrasts help grab the viewer?fs gaze and direct it to the most important part of the painting: the woman and baby. Wayside Madonna has some clear iconography. The woman dominating the foreground is a direct allusion to the Virgin Mary. Seated and holding a sleeping male baby in her arms, a violet robe drapes over the figure. The woman wears a simple white outfit and adoringly looks down towards the baby. This depiction is very similar to the common depiction of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus in religious European art. An important difference between the European religious Virgin Mary and Wayside Madonna is the skin color. The Virgin Mary in European art is often painted as white skinned. ... • 37. George Bush Multilateralism In the days surrounding president George W. Bush s address to the United Nations regarding the political climate in Iraq, Washington had become a whirlpool of two different approaches: unilateralism and multilateralism. After an attempt to appeal to both sides in Washington with his initial address to the UN, George Bush s action of waging an arguably unjustified war against Iraq without assistance from the United Nations can ultimately be explained using realist theory. The dominant approach supported by Bush s Republican party was unilateralism. Assuming the Republicans led by Cheney and Rumsfeld were truly under the impression that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, while also having ties to international terrorist groups, their wishes were not irrational. The unilateralists felt that every day the United States did not act was another day closer to an attack like 9/11. The main idea behind realism is that war is inevitable, and that the number one ... The idea was that the inspections teams would find monitor Iraqi facilities to keep Hussein under control. If Saddam did not agree, then war could be waged. The key is seeking alternative means of promoting peace before waging a costly war. Under republican liberalism, democratic states do not wage war under the premise that the citizens pay the costs of war. MLK day for example; Martin Luther King, or Michael Luther King, was under scrutiny because his doctorate had blatant plagiarism, also his I Have a Dream speech was plagiarized from a pastor from his church he attended. • 43. Anna Karenina Analysis Anna Karenina is a story told in three locations: the two Russian major cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg and the rural countryside. Each location holds special connotations that are reflected in events and characters that live there. Tolstoy, a fan of the countryside himself, uses the lives of Levin and, to a lesser extent, Kitty to illustrate the moral superiority of the countryside over its more urban counterparts. On the other end of the spectrum is St. Petersburg, a city of superficiality and immorality; the negative implications of this location is portrayed through the lives and tragic downfalls of St. Petersburg natives and inhabitants Anna and Vronsky. Finally, the city of Moscow is portrayed as an area in between the two extremes. Inferior to the glorious countryside but superior to the sinful St. Petersburg, Moscow is a romantic city. It is a city of wavering moralityand short lived dreams; it is portrayed through the lives of the Oblonsky family, and to a lesser extent, Anna and Vronsky s temporary bliss together. The three locations in Anna Kareninathe moral countryside, immoral St. Petersburg, and ambiguous Moscow are vital in developing the noveland its characters by adding another subtle layer to one s understanding of the text. Some would argue that since extinction is a natural, a normal thing, so humans shouldn t pay much attention. Studies show that 99% of currently endangered animals are at risk due to human activity. There are people who believe that animals who are endangered shouldn t be protected because of the cost on saving these animals are too high and outweighs the possible benefits. The animal I would want to protect from extinctionand save is the Red Panda. The Red Panda is part of the endangered species due to the decline of their habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression, although red pandas are protected by national laws in their range countries. According to the recent data by IUCN Red Panda is listed as Endangered because its population has plausibly declined by 50% over the last three generations (estimated at 18 years) and this decline is projected to continue, and probably intensify, in the next three generations. This is due to the fact that their natural habitat is shrinking as more and more forests are destroyed. Red Pandas are often difficult to be seen in its favored habitat in the bamboo forests in the Eastern Himalayas. This new sound was an amalgamation of genres, pulling elements from what was considered hillbilly music (country and western, folk, bluegrass) and colored music (rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel.) • 50. African Colonialism And Its Effects On Africa In the 1800 s countries were in search for land to expand their country into, this happened to many places including Africa. Colonialism was a time when countries took control of another land, which they then governed through direct or indirect rule depending on the country. During this time, Africa was most sought after due to its resources and its uninhabited land. Due to this, all colonial powers scrambled to get their hands on a piece of Africain order to expand their areas of rule. As a result of the scramble for Africa the Berlin Conference was held. At this conference representatives from fourteen countries came together to divide up Africa s land (Africans had no say in the matter, however). With colonial powers now in control, not everyone was pleased seeing as the governing country was only using them for natural resources and economic gain, which of course caused resistance with people refusing to assimilate to the colonial power. Eventually, anti colonial movements sprung up and they did whatever they could to try and regain their right to self rule. This ultimately led to boycotts, strikes, the formation of unions and political parties just to regain independence. Independence was a struggle that happened in many ways, such as violence and agreement as shown in Swaziland s case.
