The DSM 5 defines dissociative identity disorder (DID) as the occurrence of a minimum of two

Epistemology, or in other words, the theory of knowledge, is the study of knowledge, what it is,
how we acquire it, and our justifiable beliefs that are included in that study. Generally, the study of
knowledge is done through a philosophical method. There are four basic theories of learning; those
are behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism; this paper will address these four
theories of learning, in addition, we will address principles of learning, schema and scaffolding,
adaption, metacognition, and strategies to ensure learning success.
The term behaviorism refers to the school of psychology founded by John B. Watson. Behaviorism
theory is based on the idea that behaviors can be measured, trained, and changed. In D. A.
Lieberman s book Psychology of learning (2012, Ch. 2.3), he states, Watson believed that
psychologists should be concerned with overt behavior rather than the hidden processes of the
mind, and he argued for a greater concern with practical applications . This this theory believes that
all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Behaviorism attempts to measure through
observation of behavior, using the observations to control behavior through conditioning.
The term cognitivism refers to the school of psychology based on how the brain processes

In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the
story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences.
Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing
that the main characters connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the
importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages
emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how
they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people.
The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked
at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking
is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and
gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object.
The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me.
My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never
laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic
counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their
appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the
beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between
Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection
with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked.
The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this
ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is
exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to
look at the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by

Stanley Fish s article Stepping On Jesus, talks about the idea of a higher power and how some will
defy higher authorities in order to respect their values. While not everyone believes in a higher
power, many will show signs of respect, Fish does not idolize these students. Throughout the article,
Fish states many different points and beliefs on what is right and the different teaching methods.
Fish sticks up for these teaching methods and not the students. However, the students should be the
ones getting stuck up for. In Fish s article in the New York Times, he aims to show both sides of

comparison, multisource and multipass strategies, and triangulation of data sets for more robust
findings (86). Audiotape recordings, researcher observations and intentional debriefings after each
focus group were used to document the focus group sessions. The researchers constructed themes
and dimensions in an attempt to identify the messages communicated in the focus group sessions.
The idea of multipass strategies is to continue data analysis until no new findings or insights
emerge. The focus of the study using SARA was on the meaning of the experiences in the words
of the participants and not how some researchers use SARA by counting how frequently certain
words are used. Validity was based on the collective results of all focus groups and the saturation of
common themes and responses.
