2. The Hindu Faith is an indigenous theology and philosophy...
The Hindu Faith is an indigenous theology and philosophy of India spanning thousands of years.
Reincarnation is the center of the Faith, the teaching that all things become unified through
living many lives. After each cycle of life, karma decides which caste or level of life a person
will next experience. Lying, cheating scumbags, who were greedy and did not assist the poor
could be reincarnated upon death into a life of poverty and illness. With a little hope, such a soul
would learn a valuable lesson and the next time around would be a bit more comfortable. Some
Hindus also believe that a human can be reincarnated as an animal. Whether that is karma from a
good or bad previous life, one can only guess.
The majority of Hindus live in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atharvaveda Verses that speculate on the earth human connection and other philosophical ideas.
Hymns throughout the Rigveda are referred to as Samhitas. Brahmanas are textual verses that
explain ritual prayers and relay instructional information. Aranyakas and Upanishads propose
speculative theologies and philosophical concepts. Long practiced traditions and cultural behaviors
determine the specific school of philosophy each Hindu will follow. Six major schools of
philosophy exist within Hinduism. Each school, or DarЕ›ana, is separate from the others, but they
are all centered on verses in the Vedas. Sage Kapila orally addressed the natural and spiritual worlds
in the Samkhya School founded in the 6th century BC. It is the most ancient Hindu school of
Hindu thought. Nyaya is the school of logical thought introduced by Aksapada Gautama in
approximately the 5th century BC. The philosophy stresses the importance of knowledge and
scientific theory. Vaisheshika, the atomic school, instituted by Sage Kannada in the 3rd century
BC, attempts to answer questions surrounding the creation of the universe and the connection
between life sustaining substances and the soul. The philosophy states that Brahman instills
consciousness in all atoms, the smallest form of life. Sage Patanjalt, founder of the Yoga school in
the 2nd century BC, proposed that mastering Yoga could transform the physical and spiritual self.
The Yoga school and Samkhya are closely related philosophies.

3. Optimum Temperature Of Amylase
This experiment was needed to determine the optimal temperature at which the enzyme amylase
best functions. Since an increase in temperature speeds up the movement in molecules, the substrate
is supposed to come in contact with the active site of the enzyme more quickly and frequently until
the heat becomes an obstacle by denaturing the structure of these enzymes and thus changing its
function.
There were a total of four different temperatures at which amylase activity was observed (Table 1).
In order to ensure that temperature was the only manipulated variable, four test tubes were prepared
with the same contents. Each tube contained about 2mL of the 1% starch solution, 4mL of
deionized water, 1mL of a 6.8 pH buffer. After 10 minutes of... Show more content on

It was predicted that as temperature increases, the chemical reaction would accelerate mainly
because the increased temperature would speed up the motion of molecules. Microorganisms are
efficient degraders of starch, chitin, and the polysaccharides in plant cell walls (Warren, 183). For
a variety of biological purposes, plants break down long polysaccharide (starch) molecules into
disaccharide (maltose) molecules and monosaccharide (glucose) molecules. There is no reason to
assume that amylase is the only enzyme responsible for the hydrolysis of starch (Paleg, 904). As the
results show, the reaction that consumes starch and produces maltose would eventually go to
completion; however, with the addition of the enzyme amylase, the reaction should significantly
speed up. It was also determined via this experiment that the addition of amylase is not the only
variable that influenced the speed of this reaction; temperature also played a huge role. The
evidence gathered in the experiment supported the hypothesis and matched the prediction: there
was a great increase in amylase activity in higher temperature experiments up until the enzymes
begin to denature. There were two ways to gather data that would prove the change in the reaction
rate in presence of the amylase enzyme: the appearance of maltose or the disappearance of starch.
The second test was used for this specific

4. How Did The California Gold Rush Of 1849
The discovery of gold nuggets in Sacramento Valley in 1848 sparked the California Gold Rush of
1849. Which is one of most significant events to shape American history during the first half of
the 19th century. News spread of the discovery thousands of gold miners traveled over sea or
overland to San Francisco and surrounding areas by the end of 1849. The non native population of
Californiaterritory was over 100,000, compared with the pre 1848 figure of less than 1,000. Two
billion dollars worth of precious metal was extracted from the area during the Gold Rush peak in
1852.
On January 24, 1848 James Wilson Marshall found flakes of gold in the American River at the
base of Sierra Nevada Mountains near Coloma California. The miners extracted ... Show more

was open to all. No taxes were levied on what the miners found. No towns or roads existed in the

to. The individualist entrepreneurial spirit that pervades California to this day was born in the
gold fields in the summer of 1848. News of gold, free for the taking, continued to spread. By the
end of summer the first gold seekers were arriving from outside California. The first immigrants
were probably from Oregon, where American farmers had been settling since the early 1840s.
Next came men from the Sandwich Islands (now Hawaii). In the autumn new arrivals were
coming from northern Mexico, and during the winter large numbers came from Peru and Chile in
South America. Still, there was plenty of gold for all, and fresh discoveries were made daily. The
immense extent of the gold deposits was becoming

5. Richard Scrushy and HealthSouth Essay
Introduction HealthSouth is one of the nation s largest healthcare providers specializing in
rehabilitation. HealthSouth was founded by Richard M. Scrushy in 1984 and went public in 1986.
Scrushy served as its Chairman of the Board from 1994 to 2002. The company was incorporated in
January 1984 as Amcare Inc. before its name was changed to HealthSouthRehabilitation
Corporation in May 1985. In January of 2003, Mr. Scrushy reassumed the position of CEO.
HealthSouth grew rapidly during the 1980 s and 1990 s. This growth was largely due to
acquisitions. HealthSouth owned more than 330 hospitals worldwide. It was also during this time
that Scrushy became known as one of the highest paid CEOs in the United States.... Show more

behavior in Mr. Scrushy? Perhaps what we need is a scale for measuring the moral development
or character of the officers to whom the financial status and reports of the company are entrusted
(Jennings, 2005, p. 44 45). One measurement that can be used is a look into their personal lives.
An evaluation of the private conduct of the executive can often prove to be insightful and a
predictor of future behaviors. How we treat those who are the closest to us and, at least in theory,
the most important is telling (Jennings, 2005, p.45). Mr. Scrushy was married to wife number three
and is the father of eight children by three different women. Impact on Stakeholders
Richard Scrushy s management style was one that fostered intimidation and fear amongst his
employees. The weekly Monday morning meetings were often called Monday morning beatings
when the actual budget numbers did not meet the forecasted expectations. Every Monday morning
he grilled his division chiefs on the profits in their areas of responsibility and publicly berated any
subordinate who failed to meet his expectations (Solieri, Felo Hodowanitz, 2008, p. 342).

How would you feel if your body slowly turns on you, devouring the cells that make up your very
being? What would you do if you were so weak that you couldn t even hold a loved one in your
arms? How would you feel if you couldn t think straight because the pain of hunger was so
intense? What would you do..? Starvation results in a series of devastating events that can
ultimately lead to death. When a person eats, the body extracts needed nutrients for cellular
maintenance and repair. This requires energy which is provided for by the metabolism of the
food. If we consume more than what is required at that time, our body stores the excess as

The location and geography of the country has caused the people to experience famine after
famine, leaving many to die from starvation. A famine is in definition, A great shortage or an
extreme scarcity of food over an extended period of time (Webster). There are several different
types of famine that occur in different types of the world. The type that Ethiopia generally goes
through is called a Ravallion. During a Ravallion famine, there are unusually large amounts of
causalities with extreme shortages of food in certain parts of the population. There are many
things that cause famine, whether it s draught, plague, or civil disrupt. Right now, Ethiopia is
experiencing a draught that has killed almost all of their crops. Because of the famines that
Ethiopia experiences most every year, there is usually an increase in the amount of people
malnourished. This year, 11to 14 million people are expected to go hungry leaving many to starve
to death. Ethiopia has experienced many draughts like these, the worst however, being in 1983.

The Pitiful Prufrock of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
T.S. Elliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, is a melancholy poem
of one man s frustrated search to find the meaning of his existence. The
speaker s strong use of imagery contributes to the poems theme of communion and
loneliness.
The Poem begins with an invitation from Prufrock to follow him
through his self examination. The imagery of this invitation begins with a
startling simile, Let us go then you and I/ When the evening is spread out
against the sky/ Like a patient etherised upon a table. This simile literally

11. Summary Of Evil And Omnipotence By J. L. Mackie
J. L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence criticizes the argument that God exists by showing that
religious beliefs are positively irrational and that parts of the essential theological doctrine are
inconsistent with one another. The problem of evil is one of the oldest problems in philosophy.
The problem of evil is a logical problem for only the people who believe that there is a Godwho is
both (1) omnipotent and (2) wholly good; yet (3) evil exists in the world. If God is wholly good
and omnipotent, then how can there be a presence of evil in the world. Given the presence of evil,
we must either conclude that God does not have the power to prevent the suffering that evil causes
in which case God is not omnipotent or that God does not wish... Show more content on

However, these solutions are only temporary or almost adopted by the thinker because the thinker
may not be consistent in their definitions and convert back to the old definitions. Therefore, these
solutions are not true solutions, so we must find another way to solve the problem of evil.
The next set of solutions are called fallacious solutions. A fallacious solution is a solution defined
as an argument which rejects one of the propositions but then, implicitly reasserts it later in the
argument to solve the problem. However, these fallacious solutions use an equivocation use of the
words good and evil , which cause vagueness about how good and evil are opposed to one another.
Mackie notes that these so called solutions may seem plausible at first, but, in fact, do not amount
to a solution which rejects any principle that causes the contradiction.
The first fallacious solution is that Good cannot exist without evil. The idea behind this solution is
that evil is a necessary counterpart of good. Without evil, there could be no good in the world.
Therefore, God could not have created the world without any evil in it because there would be no
good. By saying that God cannot create good without creating evil at the same time contradicts
premise one (that God is omnipotent) and premise five (that there are limits to what an omnipotent
thing can do). Mackie rejects this

The Cut
It was a Friday, I hopped off the bus and sprinted home as fast as I could to pack my clothes in
my suitcase. I regretted procrastinating the night before, because my mom would be home any
minute to leave for Oklahoma. I grabbed my suitcase and flung it carelessly on my bed. I was so
excited for my basketball tournament that I stood on my bed and began packing quickly.
Suddenly i remembered that I left a shirt in the laundry room. I stepped down from my bed and
felt something cut through my toe like butter. I looked down and saw a big piece of glass with
blood dripping down the side.
Immediately I knew what happened. With my quick thinking, I grabbed my cell phone and I
hopped into the bathroom. Trying my best not to get blood on the clean carpet. I sat on the edge of
the bathtub and turned on the water. While the water washed the fresh blood, I called my dad on
my phone. I heard his thunderous footsteps coming down the hallway. He swung open the door and

accept it that soon you ll be drenched to the bone If your time to you is worth savin Then you

hardly a grown man when he groaned the initial verse of his 1964 album s title track, The Times
they are A Changing (1964). A masterpiece which would continue to ring in the ears of every new
generation of upcoming adults for nearly half a century. Dylan depicts two conflicting mindsets in
his anthem of progress: Those who resist change, otherwise known as, the first who will later be

15. Suicide And Suicide
While awareness of suicide and its rippling effect on the community is increasing, much of the
research into the psychological impact of those exposed to death by suicide has been focused on
adults.
Which is why top academic and suicide postvention expert, Karl Andriessen has focused his PhD
project at the University of New South Wales, on investigating the grief, mental health and help
seeking experiences of adolescents who have lost a loved one through suicide.
The study, supported by the Anika Foundation for Adolescent Depression and Suicide, identifies the
adolescents experiences, which may be specific for this age group, to determine whether they
require specific attention from caregivers or health professionals.
It is well known that exposure to suicide and bereavement after suicide is a risk factor for adverse
outcomes related to health, mental health and social functioning, says Mr Andriessen.
We started this research project because most of the research has been focused on the adult
population, not on the younger age groups.
Hence, little is known about their grief and mental experiences, and their needs for support.
The study aims to redress that gap in our knowledge.
The project involved semi structured telephone interviews with 39 adolescents bereaved by suicide
and/or another cause of death.
During the interview participants talked about their relationship with the person they had lost,

The recent wealth of data should give us more confidence in a cause and effect relationship, but
we are not nearly to the point of proof. It took decades and hundreds of studies before the Surgeon
General was willing to declare that smoking causes cancer.] But it has been less clear just how
alcohol works to protect the body against heart disease and death. A new study from researchers at
the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland. identifies a mechanism for how alcohol favorably
effects arterial muscle cells. According to Wilhelm Vetter, M.D., and colleagues, alcohol, when
consumed around mealtime, reduces the proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC) within the
arteries. SMC growth is a key element in the development of atherosclerosis, which commonly leads
to heart attacks and strokes.
The study found that the ingestion of alcohol equivalent to two glasses of wine with a high fat
meal resulted in a 20% decrease in the growth of arterial muscle cells. Several researchers have
suggested that the apparent health benefits of wine ingested at mealtime may be due to the ability
of alcohol and other phenolic compounds in wine to counter adverse effects of fatty foods during
the critical digestive phase. Renaud has written of the positive effect of wine during meals on
platelet aggregation, finding that wine consumed with meals is absorbed more slowly and thus has
a prolonged effect on blood

Organizations must reflect on the structure employees have to operate in and ensure it is conducive
to the image of a learning organization. People need the tools and guidance to understand the

require stepping out of our comfort zones for a learning organization to survive. This concept refers
to adaptive learning, which is necessary for the organization. However, adaptive learning is linked

18. Propaganda In Animal Farm
George Orwell, the pseudonym of english author Eric Arthur Blair, was an influential author of
novels, novellas, and essays that criticized the rise and practices of authoritarian governments.
One of his most revered works, Animal Farm, is hailed as a brilliant piece that satirizes the
statues of Stalinism by allegorizing its tumultuous rise and the harsh, often lethal loyalty
Stalinism demands of its followers. One of the hallmarks of Stalinist rule is its frequent use of
propaganda. In his novella, Animal Farm, Orwell presents the use of propaganda in a Stalinist
society through the deification of a leader, the use of scapegoating against an exiled
revolutionary and against the vices of man; and exposes the practice of engendering fear into
the population of Animal Farm. In Animal Farm, the leader of Animal Farm, Napoleon,
frequently uses self deification tactics to elevate his status above the working animals of the
farm. Orwell stated that Napoleon was always referred to in formal style as our Leader,
Comrade Napoleon, and the pigs liked invent for him such titles as Father of All Animals, Terror
of Mankind, Protector of the Sheep fold, Ducklings Friend, and the like (Orwell 93). These titles
expressed that Napoleon was a benevolent, powerful, and god like figure, which elevated him over
the common animal on Animal Farm. His titles also projected a feeling of superiority, which made
the animals fear his presence and the presence of other pigs. As the pigs arrived

19. Is Teacher Tenure Worth Keeping
According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranking, the United
States of America is considered mediocre in its educational performance. In a competitive world
where average is just not adequate for the well being of a nation, experts have theorized that to
improve the country s educationour schools need to revaluate different factors of the education
system. Some have even speculated these factors are the teacher s tenure. In fact, some claim tenure
is the reason why the United States education system quality is on its downward slope. In order
for one to determine if the country s education is suffering from tenure, one need to have a full
understanding of its function and how teachers use tenure. One would also need to know the
benefits of this contract by understanding how tenure relates to discrimination, academic freedom,
freedom of expression, freedom of association, and freedom of religion. However, one would also
need to have knowledge of the cons of teacher s tenure by analyzing how the dance of the lemon s
policy and the reassignment centers do not allow teachers to improve and how much tenure can
cost the schooldistricts. In order to distinguish if the United States should allow a teacher to
become subjects to tenure, one need to recognize the purpose and how that purpose is applied to
teachers with tenure. The intention of tenure is to provide job security for teachers (Public Impact,
2011, p.3). For a teacher to earn the

still considered inconclusive (Crowne, 2009). Note that in both cases, expectation plays a huge
role in determining whether behaviour occurs. Regardless of how big a need or reinforcement, if
expectation of satisfaction in a given situation is zero or low, behaviour is unlikely to happen. The
concept of external and internal control can be thought of as having low or high expectations for
situations that involves personal commitment or action. The primary concerns of this concept
involve activities that require one to make judgments about one s own skill or aptitude in a task.
If one does not believe that they are skilled, and that any choices they make will make any
difference, than activities that are mostly skill based are highly unlikely to occur. Instead, people
with external control will be inclined to participate in activities that are more heavily luck based,
because the expectancy for reinforcement (rewards) or a need fulfillment tend to be higher than
ability based activities. Consider the

21. Social Media Trends That Rock The Internet
FIVE SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS THAT ROCK THE INTERNET
WE can clearly observe the substantive share of social media on internet from the data above.
More importantly the popularity of social media as seen from the above data amongst youngsters
indicates the growth of social media in times to come as this generation moves on. Also, there are
studies indicating that the time spent online has doubled in the past ten years. These two trends
combined together indicate that social media is really becoming big in our lives and the net.
The social media trends that dominate the scene are:
1. SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES : Social networking has grown to become one of the largest
and most influential components of the web. It is the use of internet based social media programs
to make connections with family , friends, classmates, customers and clients. Social networking can
occur for social purposes, business purposes or both through sites such as Facebook, Twitter,
LinkedIn, Instagram. Social networking is also a significant target area for marketers seeking to
engage users.

22. Industrialization Of The Second Industrial Revolution
The Second Industrial Revolution, which reached its peak during 1870 to 1914, marked a
significant turning point in American history. Before this era of progression and industrial
excellence, America was on the verge of expansion like never before. From the vast amounts of
land gained through the Annexation of Texas in 1845, the British retreating from Oregon in 1846,
and the Mexican cession of Southwest territory guaranteed by the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of
1848, (Engelman) America was able to expand their territory and access new resources.
Industrialization and factory growth in the North was just budding and beginning to create
economic success, along with spurring a rise of urbanization and migration of foreign workers to

Other plentiful resources include coal, iron, oil, and ore (Pacheco). The utilization of these
resources led to a variety of new inventions. Using iron, one valuable invention that was created to
make agriculture more efficient was the iron bladed plow, created by Jethro Wood in 1819, that
could plow through all types of fields (Alchin). Perhaps the most important advancement was the
development of railroads, such as between 1863 and 1869 when the first transcontinental railroad
was built using iron. This railroad linked the east and west the Atlantic to the Pacific which was a
true phenomenon during this time (Alchin). Both these revolutionary creations, the bladed plow
and the transcontinental railroad, among many others, allowed the economy to prosper, due to the
use of the natural resources. The railroad increased efficiency and wealth for citizens nationwide,
as this opened up new markets for farmers, industrialists, and bankers who could now bring crops
and cotton from the Mississippi River Valley, wheat in the Midwest, and manufactured goods in
upstate New York into a global market based on credit (Engelman). Another significant reason why
our economy prospered during this revolution was the expanding labor force available to work in
factories to mass produce products. The opportunity to work in industrial factories attracted millions
around the world, which lead to a population explosion within cities, as almost 11

23. The Effects Of Prenatal Care On Children
Discussion
Traditionally, pregnancy is a celebrated occasion but for women who live in poverty this life
changing event can be wrought with uncertainty and apprehension. Typically, new mothers living in
poverty are most likely already facing multiple stressors such as unemployment, unfavorable living
conditions, substandard environment and threats of violence. Additionally, the increased physical
demands and need for supplemental financial resources consistent with a new pregnancy are more
likely to leave a mother living in poverty feeling overwhelmed and depressed. One of the ways
expanded Medicaid coverage can reduce this burden is by facilitating improved access to medical
care for both the mother and her unborn child.
Multiple definitive studies have proven that mothers who have access to adequate prenatal care
have fewer miscarriages, less birth defects and give birth to healthier babies. The United States,
despite being one of the richest countries in the world has a lower rate of infant survival when
compared to other developed nations and decreased access to prenatal care exacerbates this
statistic. Prenatal care not only gives new mothers access to medical, education and nutritional
resources but serves an opportunity to identify babies at risk for delivering preterm or suffer from
low birth weight (Alexander Cornely, 1986). Data derived from the 1980 National Natality Survey
associated a higher instance of low birth weight with inadequate prenatal

24. Questions And Questions On Debating Skills
1.3.2 Debating skills
As a result of the activities and assessments in the program, the students learns how to pursue their
arguments. The skill to argue about the point of view helps them in becoming a good advocate of
healthcare quality, risk, and safety. For example, this skill provides the students with ability to
present their view to a CEO of an organization during a 5 minute encounter in an elevator (p3:52).
The students learn how to solve a complicated problem through the research and creative thinking
skills and through ability to chunk an argument in a new way but also forced the students to think
and understand both sides of an issue (p6:3). The students learn to write a solution by arguing on
the opposing ideologies of the issue. The skill student learns as a result of the debate is way to
challenge thinking of the superior management and direct the decision which is better for the
patient (p3:67, p6:5).
Some instructors make them fight on an argument and pull the students out of their comfort zones,
so the students can learn to manage a tense situation. After the sessions of the debates and
argumentation the students feel happy and they love (the debate session) (p6:16). Other participant

25. Hobbes And The State Of Nature
1.According to Hobbes the state of nature leads to a war of all against all. What Hobbes refers to
when he discusses the state of nature is a state in which there are no civil powers. To reach his
conclusion about how the world would be in the state of nature, Hobbes first explains what human
nature is and then explains the relationship between man and civil government.
As Hobbes sees it men are naturally in conflict. Hobbes sees three reasons for this. They are
competition, diffidence, and glory. Following from the right of nature, which states that all men
have the liberty to promote their own life, men naturally desire to obtain resources so as to
promote their own life and obtain some form of the good. Yet there are only so many resources,
and so men enter into conflict over competition of who will be able to have the limited resources,
since only one person can own each resource. .
Diffidence follows from this competition. Since all men are equal in terms of mind and body,
meaning that any man could kill any other man, men constantly feel threatened by other men. So,
as a way promote their own self preservation, men seek out their enemies, which is every other
person, and attempt to get rid of the threat they possess rather than let themselves be harmed by the
threat. So, men are proactive in defeating their enemies. Finally, men enter into conflict via glory.
Men value their honor and desire to be treated in a certain way. When this honor is damaged men

26. The Importance Of Motivation And Leadership In Historical...
Introduction
In this report, the author will look at two theoretical concepts, motivation and leadership in
Historical Cadbury. The reason the author selected these topics to speak about were; they were a
crucial part to the success of Cadburys. This report will include motivation and leadership concepts
and will be applied to the context of Historical Cadbury. I have chosen leadership and motivation as
I believe they were fundamental to the success of Cadburys. The purpose of this report is to
demonstrate an understanding of some of the dynamics and influences at play within Cadburys.
The author will also look to demonstrate how motivation and leadership impacts in the workplace.
Another element of the discussion will be about the concepts Cadburys used in order to accomplish
their organisational goals. In conclusion, the author will give their personal opinion on whether
they believe motivation and leadership had an impact on Cadburys in the historical era.
In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer s shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham. The Cadbury
business was born in 1831, when John Cadbury decided to begin producing on a commercial
scale and bought a four storey warehouse. Cadburys was built upon Quaker beliefs. In a Quaker
community, a struggling business was a liability, falling into debt was seen as a form of theft and
was punished severely (Cadbury, 2011).
In 1861, John Cadburys health declined and he retired, handing over the business to his sons

27. Career Research Paper On Nursing
Having a baby is a special time in a family s life. It is an unforgettable experience. If you ask any
woman about the birth of her child, she can recount every single detail even several years later.
Labor and delivery nurses have the distinct privilege of getting to be a part of this special time.
They get to rejoice with moms and dads when, after years of infertility, a sweet baby is born, cry
when a dad cries after holding his child for the first time, and get excited when a mom of three
boys has her first little girl. These nurses get to experience a miracle every time they go to work.
I first learned about this profession when my friend told me about her experience shadowing a
labor and delivery nurse. Her story immediately sparked an interest in my heart. This career
seemed to be a combination of all the things I love and do best: coaching, supporting, and caring
for others. I want to be a labor and delivery nurse because I would get to touch the lives of
thousands of babies and mothers and know that I made a difference. There are numerous positive
and negative aspects of working in the nursing industry. Some of the positive aspects of this
profession include a faster than average job growth rate of sixteen percent expected within the next
couple of years, multiple education options to become a nurse, and the possibility of getting an
entry level job having only completed a certificate program. Another advantage of working in this
field is a higher than average salary

28. The Journey Of Cultural Practices
Framework Overview
Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize
the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially
sound organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles,
controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each
value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound
approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in
both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population
focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of
the four identified approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in
totality, much like an interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each
skill set complements the overall goal of the agency.

29. Overview Of The Socio-Cultural Cognitive Theory Of Lev...
The socio cultural cognitive theory of Lev Vygotsky emphasizes children s cognitive development
cannot be understood apart from cultural settings, and social interactions and activities shape their
ways to construct knowledge (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). The notion of the zone of
proximal development(ZPD) is a well known concept of his theoretical framework (Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016; Ylvisaker Feeney, 2009). In
the follow paragraphs, I will brief explain this concept, clarify how it closely relates to individual
daily life, and discuss the limit of this notion with reflect on my personal experience.
Vygotsky s concept of ZPD refers to the range of difficulties which children are unable to master
alone, but they could solve independently if adults or more mature peers provide the appropriate
support (Jahoda, Dagnan, Stenfert Kroese, Pert, Trower, 2009; Santrock, Mackenzie Rivers,
Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). In teaching, the ZPD typifies the theoretical space
between what students already knew and what students are not ready to learn (Santrock,
Mackenzie Rivers, Pangman, 2017; Woolfolk, Winne, Perry, 2016). Two borders of this space are
represented as the lower limit of ZPD (e.g. the difficulties which children are able to master alone,
what students already knew), and the upper limit of

30. Class Obervation on Reading Comprehension Skills
Class Observation and Report
I met the instructor before class to discuss overall goals as well as goals for that day s lesson. The
overall goal of the course is to improve reading comprehension skills, increase math problem
solving skills, and develop a strong ability to combine the two and further discussion skills. The
goal of that day s lesson was to work on reading strategies: scanning, identifying main ideas, and
understanding details of different math word problems and equations. The instructor mentioned that
there are only 10 people in the class and almost all of them are between the ages of 11 12. They are
all at pretty much the same reading level, although there is some slight variation. Specifically
though, in her fourth period class, one student had a tremendous difficulty in reading and
understanding word problems and them translating those words into numbers and equations.
In one activity the instructor starts the class by picking up one math assignment that was due and
they check three other math assignments together. All of the students call out the answers in
unison. The unit they had just ended was on integers and they were just beginning their unit on
equations and eventually into inequalities. Then she hands out flash cards with five discussion
questions that pertain to the topic of equations and inequalities, for example What do you think an
equation is? and Why would you ever need to use one? Students get into groups of two to discuss

31. The First Great Awakening And The Age Of Enlightenment
Throughout history, literature has served as a prominent tool in the examination of social values,
ideas, and dreams. In addition, literature has provided a vital connection between historical, social,
and political events. Through the incorporation of religious principles and philosophies, writers
have discovered a way to portray different time periods, characters, feelings, and most importantly
God.
As the Age of Enlightenment gradually came to an end, the British American colonists were ready
to progress beyond the ideology of human reason and depend solely on biblical revelation. During
the eighteenth century, a great movement known as the First Great Awakeningswept through
Protestant Europe and America, leaving a permanent impact on ... Show more content on

Furthermore, new light preachers gradually began preaching democratic messages which helped
make the American colonies more democratic during the eighteenth century. The Great Awakening
also helped establish four educational institutions: Princeton University, Brown University,
Dartmouth College, and Rutgers University (Britannica). Lastly, from a religious aspect, the Great
Awakening brought a great division between many religious denominations, resulting in the
splitting of old light and new light preachers.
One of the most influential writers and new light preachers was Jonathan Edwards. Edwards was
born into an Orthodox family on October 5th, 1703, in the city of East Windsor, Connecticut. As a
child, Jonathan Edwards had constant exposure to the teachings of the Bible and Christian
theology, as well as having the opportunity to learn a variety of languages such as Greek and Latin
(University). Throughout his childhood, Edwards received an adequate and excellent education
from his father and ten sisters, so that he could be prepared to attend college and earn his
undergraduate and graduate degrees in philosophy and theology. Furthermore, when Edwards was
only eleven years old, he wrote his first piece of scientific literature titled Flying Spider, in which

Background (Milde, R., 2001)
Common wisdom tells us that there are, in general, two kinds of writing: creative and expository.
Creative writing tells about feelings, opinions, points of view, things that originate inside the writer.
Expository essays tell about facts, things outside of the writer. Essays on literature examine a
literary text, a thing outside the writer. Lab reports describe experiments with chemicals and other
stuff that really exists and can be measured. Research is factual; fiction, poetry, and the personal
story are emotional.

Over the last 15 years peacekeeping operations have changed substantially at the behest of the UN

states called for a renewed political commitment, institutional change and increase their financial

were put fourth, peacekeeping operations must be properly resourced and equipped, and operate
under clear, credible and achievable mandates. In 2000, the UN analyzed previous peacekeeping
operations and were not satisfied by the results, as a result the UN began to exercise a series of
reforms to strengthen its capacity to manage and sustain field operations. One that I took great note

case that deserves prominence was The United Nation s Force Intervention Brigade (UNFIB).

Loblaws operates throughout Canada and is of one the largest food retailers in the country.
Loblaws operates 1,142 grocery stores and has 27 distribution centers alongside their operations
(Loblaw, 2014). This company has a large influence on the Canadian economy, employing more
than 195,000 people (Loblaw, 2014). Loblaws sells a large selection of products including
groceries, household items, baby products, pharmaceuticals, cell phones, general merchandise, and
financial services (Loblaw, 2014). It is necessary for a company of this size to be aware of
external stakeholders because these groups may have either positive or negative impacts on the
livelihood of the business. Stakeholder identification is a key step in the determination of the issues
and the development of a remediation plan to address the issues. Key issues that stakeholders
identified include product delivery, energy efficiency, and inventorymanagement. These issues can
be addressed by incorporating a sustainable development stewardship program through integrating
environmental, social, and economic aspects into the company.

There s a world where I can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I
lock out all my worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for any clues to
help her discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing to help her determine
Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example of ironic use of music was during
Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her to dance. Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin
whispers an insult to her. The cheerful song Last Christmas by Wham! is gradually increased in
volume to rival Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s recurring use of music in aims of ironically
contrasting Eva s melancholic state, is clearly expressed to the

42. A Study on Metafictive Devices in the French Lieutenant’s...
A Study on Metafictive Devices in The French Lieutenant s Woman Abstract The French
Lieutenant s Woman is a splendid literary work written by English novelist John Fowles. It was
published in 1969 and received universally acknowledged reputation as a masterpiece of
postmodern novel. With intricate plot, the novel is regarded as a compelling historiographic
metafiction in contemporary British literature. The characteristics of this novel are the metafictive
devices employed by the author. Different from the previous studies centered on the idea of role
reversal between characters or the analysis of sophisticated plot, this thesis is devoted to the
exploring of metafictive devices adopted in the novel. The paper will first state the... Show more

Another characteristic is the adoption of multiple endings, adding an extra layer of richness to the
text. This kind of ending reveals the fact that the real word is full of possibilities and fluctuations.
The paradoxes of fictionality and reality constitute not only the structure of novel but also the
appearance of Sarah Woodruff. Sarah exists in the novel as well as appears in the reality. Fowles
once mentioned that The French Lieutenant s Woman emerged from the fact that he was haunted
by a recurring image of a mysterious woman, standing motionlessly at the end of a quay and
starring at the sea. Thus Sarah in 1867 England is the materialization of Fowles haunting woman of
the 20th century. Fowles s innovative narrative techniques not only allow readers to actively
participate in the creation of his novel, but also illustrate his aim in criticizing the female hysteria
and the rigid Victorian convention. From the perspective of sexual ethics, Sarah has been
categorized as a new woman who refuses to conform to the feminine role and the accepted ideals of
marriage and maternity. The delineation of Sarah with selfhood and autonomy displays Fowles s
sensibility to female liberation. Moreover, throughout the novel, the characters have suffered social
constraints in various manifestations. In line with the theme concerning emancipation, Fowles has
declared his resistance to be manipulated by conventional morality and obligations. His

43. Kennedy s Policy Goals During The Cold War
Kennedy learned various lessons from Cuba and Berlin such as: looking for diplomatic
solutions, being skeptical of his advisors, and to not act without plausible deniability. Kennedy
would carry over those lessons for the rest of his term as President. Had Kennedy remained
President from 1964 1968, the lessons acquired from Cuba and Berlin would have prevented an
escalation in Vietnam. Kennedy viewed getting involved in Vietnam as a disruption to his foreign
policy goals. One of Kennedy s primary concerns during the Cold War was preventing escalation
with the Soviet Union, it was a larger concern to him than to his advisors. The United States lacked
support from other major countries and by interfering in Vietnam, the relationship with China that
Kennedy wanted would have been negatively impacted. Kennedy s priority during the Cold War
was to defuse conflicts in Europe, and Vietnam would have been a secondary struggle with no real
benefit. Kennedy demonstrated his skepticism to his advisor s proposals by rejecting Rostow s
Berlin proposals. As a second term President, Kennedy would only have more freedoms when
making foreign policy decisions. Kennedy did not want militaristic escalation in Vietnam, and
would ensure that escalation would not take place. Although Kennedy did want to prevent the
spread of communism in Southeast Asia, sending ground troops was not the way he wanted to
accomplish his goals. Kennedy would carry over his diplomatic intentions or quick action

There are two main types of toxicity, acute and chronic. Acute toxicity refers to a relatively high
dose of a toxin given over a short period of time. Chronic toxicity is a relatively low dose of a
toxin given over a longer time period. Acute toxicity is measured by the Lethal Dose 50 (LD50).
LD50 is the dose of a specific substance that kills 50% of test organisms, and it varies from
substance to substance. Toxin severity is due to intrinsic, within the body, and extrinsic, outside of
the body, factors. When determining the effect of a toxin on an organism, it is important to
compare the behavior of the organism exposed to a toxin to that of the same type of organism
when not exposed to a toxin. California Black worms are a North American... Show more content on

46. The Puritan Religion’s Influence on Children Essay
While the current child considers their life to be stressful and busy, the children of the Puritan
religion had much more to be worried about, on top of all of their daily activities. The adults in the
community looked down upon the children that represented the devil and his works. Children were
born with the burden of Adam s sin, and they must be broken from sinning. By the time that the
children were five, they were put to work, to contribute to the family. Most children were small,
and able to help with the weeding of plants and house work. After an early morning work session,
most children would attend school. Schooling was very important to the Puritans because they

The constant fear would be held above all s heads and cause the mentally weak, to go insane.
Puritans belief that God was the main controller meant that he would punish anyone who would do
anything that was sinful. They would not help anyone who had fallen sick or had a misfortune,
because they saw it as God s will. God was more powerful than anyone on Earth, and would punish
the damn more than any physical pain could. Children were the most susceptible to sinful nature
because they were seen as promiscuous (Discovery Education). In the Puritan Religion, all children
were supposed to be looked down upon, and hold no power. They were supposed to be closer to
the devil than any adult, as we could see during the Salem Witch Trials. Death by sin was also
constant fear in the child s mind, and the children were so afraid to sin, that they usually ended up
sinning. Also, children lived with the fear of not experiencing God for their memberships to the
church. In this time, to be a citizen, you had to be a member of the church. When the children of
the elect were born, they were automatically given membership to the church, because they were for

come of them and their future children. The constant fears and pressures of the Puritan child lead to
problems within the community (Campbell). With the Bible as their main focus to their religion

47. Copy Editor is Bringing a Story to Print
What a copy editor does with a draft of a story going to print:
looks for missing words, missing elements of the story, missing attributes. For example, if a
person named James Dodd is mentioned, that person s identity as it relates to the story must be
attached to the name when it is first cited, so that if Dodd, a manager at Hudson s Bay Company,
is quoted again, the reader knows who the person is.
corrects the lead and adjusts the structure of the story so that, for instance, the paragraphs follow in
logical order and are properly connected to each other. Watch for buried leads, i.e. the sentence that
should tell the reader what the story is all about occurs after the lead sentence.
looks for inconsistencies, eg. proper nouns spelled two different ways. (Always use spell check to
help locate such inconsistencies.)
corrects for the publication s style. For instance at the Globe and Mail, copy editors would follow

49. Analysis Of The March By John Lewis
The graphic novel trilogy, The March, tells a series of events that happen in John Lewis s life
for the better and for the worse. Throughout the books, he is faced with challenges that test his
ability to stay true to his beliefs. When Lewis was a child, he received his first Bible from his
uncle which was what sparked his heavy faith in God. During his spiritual journey, he began to
listen to the teachings of MLK Jr. who impacted his life greatly. Lewis became the SNCC s
newest executive coordinating committee which opened his eyes to all the violence that was
really apparent at the time. John Lewis, even from a very young age wanted to become a preacher.

He applied the principles of the church to what was happening now, today. It was called the
social gospel... and I felt like he was preaching directly to me. (Lewis and Aydin 1:56). MLK Jr.
sparked John Lewis s love to fight for what s right to him personally, for example, his acceptance
into Troy State. But if you want to go, we ll help... we ll raise the money to file those suites, and
we ll support you all the way. But you must keep in mind... your parents could lose their jobs.
Your family home could be bombed or burned. (Lewis and Aydin 1:71). He and MLK Jr. worked
on many projects together as it was in both of their interests. Lewis became very involved with
non violent protesting and everything MLK Jr. introduced him to. Everything the two of them
did was always associated with the teachings of Christ. His words liberated me. I thought this is
it... this is the way out. (Lewis and Aydin 1:78). MLK Jr. was in charge of a group called SNCC.
In that group, he dealt with the religious aspects of the racism in the country. John Lawson was
asked to become head of the executive coordinating committee which meant he would be even
more involved in the group. I saw myself as a doer. I never had any thoughts of being chairman...
and I was elected chairman of SNCC. (Lewis and Aydin 2:142). He went to campaign after
campaign and gathered the knowledge that things were only getting more and more violent. The

Dream a Little Dream of Me came into existence. Two days later, after Ozzie Nelson had recorded
Dream a Little Dream of Me , the song was again recorded on February 18, 1931 by orchestra
leader and musician Wayne King. Since those first two recordings of Dream a Little Dream of Me

Personal History Introduction Erin Howard is a college student working toward a bachelor s
degree in business administration with a focus in marketing. She was born and raised in a non
traditional family in Santa Cruz, California. Her mother is an elementary school teacher and her
father is a project manager for a large corporation overseas. On the surface she is like most
young and modern women: she takes school seriously, she has dreams and goals for the future
that she is determined to make happen, and she don t expect anyone to do the hard work for her.
The following writing will describe how Erin became the individual she is today. Key Moments
There were four key moments that took great influence on Erin s life. The first was her parent s
divorce that occurred when she was practically a newborn. The divorce was a long and dreadful
experience, which broke her spirit in several ways. The second was the moment when she was

paperwork and actually resulted in several mandated court appearances and medical examination
throughout her childhood. The arguments her parents would get into completely changed the
way she looked at the world. She became very independent of her family. At the age of eleven,
she started hanging around with street kids that resided in downtown Santa Cruz. She eventually
got involved with the rave scene and tried her far share of drugs in order to not deal with the
issues she had at home. The divorce broke her family and took away the trust she had in the world,

Investigate the effectiveness of non enzyme soap on cleaning red stamp ink at different
temperatures Rebecca (Jiawen Hu) Introduction: United States of America is the first foreign
country that I have been to. I was surprised to find out people there prefer to use washing
machine to clean every cloth, when I was living in a campus s dormitory for a summer camp.
However, in my homeland, China, people are used to washing clothes by hands. For my mother,
she always washes clothes by hand. The sad thing is there is chilblain on her hands during each
winter and she insists to wash clothes in cold water. I told her for many times that washing
clothes in warmer water would alleviate her pain. But she insisted that it was better to wash
clothes in cold water because hot water would hamper the right function of soap. I was very
confused because in my chemistry class, we only talked about the limit of enzyme laundry soap
that it cannot be used at too high temperature. However, I am sure the soap my mother used did not
contain enzyme that is special for cleaning certain stain. So a question came into my mind that how
does temperature influence the cleaning function of non enzyme soap? Will the non enzyme soap
clean up more stain if it is used in water at high temperature? At the same time, I want to convince
my mother by experiment that soap can clean more stain if we use it at higher temperature. I will
use effectiveness to refer to the extent of red stamp ink stain on cotton

The Trips festival, Woodstock and free concerts by The Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane
