beautiful Indonesian artform used to put some bold and intricate designs in their
cloth. The crafter puts a resist of some nature, usually wax, upon the cloth in a
design and then applying dye to the cloth. Wherever there is no wax, the cloth will
be dyed, but where the cloth is protected will remain the original color. It is a fun and

which means they enjoy BREAKING crayons! I had pure white delicious cloth
and a bunch of broken crayons. There was a small metal paint tray with little divits

between newspaper (I keep a roll of newsprint paper purchased cheap from my
local newspaper)and cardboard and then used my iron to warm the wax,wicking it

different agents throughout our lives. These agents of political socialization include
our family, our education, the media, and many more. They shape our values and
beliefs from the moment we are born to the moment we die. Our family environment
contributes to our interest in politics in the future, our education teaches us the
fundamentals of American government and politics, and lastly the media
continuously shapes our view of the government. All three of these agents, are
crucial in allowing us to understand ourselves and our beliefs today. Many intellects

Losing someone close is not any easy task. I always looked in the mirror and told
myself, It will get better, I will make it through this storm. Only to slowly be

endured but contributed indispensably to the Western civilization, playing a critical

period will capture the survival of Jews and the advancement of Judaism under
foreign rulers that took place in the span of six hundred years. These turn of events
begin from late sixth century Before Christ (BC), and culminate in 70 Anno Domini
(AD) with the destruction of the second temple in Jerusalem by the Roman Empire.
At the outset of this paper, Israel s return from exile under the Persian Empire
control, then their odyssey under the Hellenistic kingdoms, and finally their journey
under the Roman Empire governing is looked at, which will provide a chronological
look of the events during this period. Furthermore, in the latter part of this paper

Silence as a Character in Krapp s Last Tape Krapp, a cantankerous old man
attempting to relive his best years by listening to a tape he recorded on his thirty
ninth birthday in Beckett s Krapp s Last Tape , constantly pauses and allows silence
to overwhelm him and his thoughts. By allowing the invasion of silence into the play,
the spotlight is taken off of Krapp in a one man play supposedly about Krapp, as he
cannot maintain controlat the most basic level. The play begins and concludes with
silence, and therefore silence is the first characterthe audience meets in the play,
demonstrating its importance in controlling Krapp and his actions through the story.
Throughout the play, silence constantly appears, whether in namesake or in the form
of relentless pauses in Krapp s speech, and dominates Krapp and his language. Krapp,
in constantly submitting to the ever present enemy of silence, demonstrates that he
has no control over the story that is supposed to center around himself, and that
silence is the character to overwhelm Krapp because it represents his fundamental

Edward Hopper was a quiet person but his art speaks louder that his words. His
paintings are famous because they are mysterious and his scenes don t seem to be
complete. His paintings leave the viewer with questions which makes his painting
even more interesting. Hopper started sketching and drawing at a very young age.
Hopper has struggled throughout his career but in the end, he s made it to where
he is now. When Hopper was young he loved anything to do with art. He was

or 2011 in Tanzania at Olduvia Gorge that composed of bone fragments such as the
ulna, tibia, and femur that gave more information regarding the post cranial structure
of paranthropus boisei. These findings helped prove that paranthropus boisei was
sexually dimorphic, more ruggedly built, showed signed of bipedalism, and had some
aboreal behaviors. After looking at many physical pictures and pictures of their skull,
paranthropus boisei do have resemblance of human characteristics.

A family owned a shop known for the one of a kind mannequins and beautiful
clothing, but it had to close down recently due to a family crisis. It all started three
days ago when the girl s grandmother had a nervous breakdown due to her
schizophrenia. She recalls the memories of her grandmother talking to herself as well
as having bizarre discussions or even hallucinations at times. Those thoughts
frightened her as her dear loving grandmother would fall ill and would even act out
violently at times of frustration. She thought to herself that not being able to control
yourself, including thoughts and actions would be the scariest thing since the illness
would take over you completely. Her mother decided that it d be best if the family
remained in the house while her grandmother could be in another environment for a
while, however girl had to stay home until the parents came back. Unwillingly, the
girl agreed to move in though she knew that her mother did have some kind of
childhood trauma in this house that she refused to mention.
As the oil lamp flickered in her room at her grandmother s home along with the

Some people would find this awkward, as if they were staring, but I knew this was
their way of showing respect. There were times other Indian families would come to
the store to visit, and in American culture when greeting someone we would use a
hand shake and a simple Hello , however in Indian culture a slight head bow with
hands pressed together and a Namaste is most common (Edith Cowan University).
Namaste is used as a greeting and it means: I bow to you (Edith Cowan University).
Sometimes physical contact is considered inappropriate or could make someone of
India background feel uncomfortable. Working for Indian people, I have learned and
see that physical contact can make them uncomfortable.

workers were preparing for. One of the biggest events that I have seen them
prepare for are the arranged marriages. I thought it was strange that still in the 21st
century that arranged marriages still took place. However, they told me it is not as
strict as it was years ago. It is usually the oldest brother of the family that will find a
husband for his sister. He will go and meet with the potential husband s family, if he
and the family agree to move forward, a date will be set for the two to meet. If the

As a child, we re presented with ample information that is all relatively new to us.
The knowledge acquired in childhood is given to us by our parents and relatives.
This allows us to grow, but the influence of our family is what shapes our culture and
beliefs. Although our parents believe this is the best culture to follow, we often find
ourselves questioning it. This creates complexity within the acceptance of being part
of one s culture. Shyam Selvadurai and Marjane Satrapi, use this theme within their
respective novels, Funny Boyand Persepolis to demonstrate the transcendence from
innocence to experience. Both main characters are introduced as children that go
through an evolution to reach adulthood. Culture challenges the characters... Show

Moreover, the fact that Selvadurai implicates this quote at the beginning of the
chapter is symbolic. He does this to symbolize a change in Arjie through the physical

depicts how fictional his thoughts on reality are. During the conclusion of the
chapter Arjie s perception of love and beauty is revolutionized through the love life
of his Aunt. Arjie goes on to say ...I felt no pleasure, for I knew that, although
everything would happen in the way I had dreamed there would be something
missing. ... I thought of the love comics and how fervently believed in them,
believed that if two people loved each other everything was possible. Now, I knew

perception in the young boys mind and this would be one of the first steps in the
transcendence of Arjie s character. Selvadurai effectively uses Radha Auntie and
many other supporting characters throughout the novel in order to aid the main
character evolve. Similar to Arjie, Marjie from Persepolis depicts evolution through
the aid of supporting characters. In this novel, Satrappi uses many characters to
evolve Marjie s understanding of the world. For example, at the beginning of the
novel, Marjie is introduced to her uncle Anoosh. He is branded as a communist under

Community In Lois Lowry s The Giver
In Lois Lowry s The Giver , readers are shown a community in which the citizens
are granted little freedoms and have no memories of the past, one of the defining
features of this community. Most readers will immediately acknowledge the
negative aspects of the community. The citizens of The Giver make very few
decisions for themselves. Instead, the Committee of Elders makes the decisions for
them, choosing all of their life paths (Lowry, Lois) .Apart from the community
revoking the natural rights of the citizens, they also took away their ability to
experience emotions. The only people in the community that have a true sense of
what life used to be are the Receiver of memory and Receiver in training. While the
lives of the citizens in The Givermight at first appear as horrible and inhumane,
