2. Tucker Case
Tucker: The Man and His Dream 1) I believe for an idea to be truly innovative, it must be driven
both internally and externally. Tucker s idea for the 1948 Tucker Sedan was fueled by both internal
and external innovation. Internal innovation happens when a new feature or version is
implemented to an already existing product and is driven by ones own desire. Tucker exhibited
internal innovationwith his car by adding his own new features like seatbelts, moving lights, a back
engine, disc breaks, and a futuristic design. External innovation can be defined as improving a
product and being motivated by external forces. Tucker was extremely motivated to save the lives
of others and improve car safety by adding seatbelts. Tucker also... Show more content on

At the time, the car industry was one with a high barrier of entry being that the big car
companies had total control and would squash anyone new trying to interfere with their
business. I think if Tucker understood this, maybe he could have improved his chances of
success in the environment by outsourcing and working with one of the Big 3 to create his car
instead of going toe to toe so aggressively with them and losing. 4) Tucker prepared the industry
for his innovations at first with a national ad for his car. After creating this initial buzz in the
industry, Tucker heavily promoted the new designs of his car to all who were interested. At the
first meeting with investors, Tucker emphasized the importance of car safety by displaying
graphic pictures of people who died in car accidents. After displaying these images, he explained
how things like seat belts and shatterproof windows could make a huge safety impact and save
lives. 5) Tucker prepared the end user for his innovations by informing all potential customers of
the car s many futuristic and innovative features. In addition to announcing the many perks of the
car, Tucker did it with such a passion that would get people excited and ready for his car of the
future. 6) As mentioned before, Tucker knew what it took to create and manufacture a car, but he

3. Historical And Textual Data Of The Mesopotamian Religion
The Mesopotamian religion has not a large amount of information uncovered. There are both
archaeological and textual data that has been found on religious beliefs of the early Sumerian
civilization survive. The typical temples were constructed of mud bricks and adorned with
buttresses and many small cones of different colors. On the inside there was a niche for the image
of the deityright in front of an offering table. The early sanctuaries were simple in their style but
the later new temples contained spacious courts, which were rooms for attendant priests and a
ziggurat. There were three types of textual materials that have been discovered: prayers,
descriptions of the rituals conducted by priests, and mythological literature. Prayers were always
associated with specific rites to be performed by the person offering the prayers or by a priest
attached to the sanctuary. The prayers would consist of invocations to the gods, requests for
assistance, and expressions of gratitude for past favors or for dangers averted. There was a rule,
that the worshipers did not emphasize such spiritual or moral topics as death, survival, and contact
with the divine. The discovered mythological literature is difficult for present day readers to
understand and the extent to which such myths reflect early religious beliefs is unknown. In its
beginning, Mesopotamian religionexpressed harmony between humanity and the natural powers on
which it depended on survival. The Sumerians have

4. The Impact Of Consciousness On Modern Day Psychology
The study of consciousness in modern day psychology is becoming increasingly difficult to
explain. In the early days of consciousness studies it may have been explained as our experience or
awareness (Blackmore, 2010). However, over a number of years, there have been many
psychologists who have contributed many important theories towards the explanation of how
consciousnessworks, and its initial existence. As Chalmers states: There is nothing that we know
more intimately than conscious experience, but there is nothing harder to explain (Chalmers, 1995
p.200). Being one of the leading philosophers in consciousness, David Chalmersintroduced the idea
of the Hard Problem in 1994. Chalmers defined the hard problem as: The questions of how
physical processes in the brain give rise to subjective experience (Chalmers, 1995 p.63).
Chalmers suggested that he found it difficult to understand how a small mass of grey matter
such as the brain could produce conscious experience. These ideas of a hard problem in
consciousness were rejected by a number of theorists, which will be discussed later in the essay.
Another idea which Chalmers has put forward is the zombie. A zombie, according to Chalmers is
a being identical to you and I, speaks like you, acts like you, but is not conscious (Blackmore,
2010). A zombie contains no qualia(a physical conscious experience). The idea of the zombie put
forward by Chalmers is extremely important in the explanation of consciousness and has been

One of the major themes portrayed in the book is theme of the possibility of resurrection. It is
interpreted literally and/or figuratively. One example is from the first book titled, Recalled to
Life , which talked about saving Lucie Manette s dad, Dr. Alexander Manette, from the Bastille
that he was kept in for eighteen years. Dr. Manette used to have a happy and peaceful life, but
when he was imprisoned, he became mentally ill. However, when Lucie entered his life, he
gradually went back to his old self. Here, Lucie, in a way, brought him back to life or resurrected
him. Another example is Charles Darnay. He was affected by Lucie, that he asked for her to wed
him and bring another life into the world. She acknowledges it, and it formed a

Who fired first in the historical Battle of Lexington? Well there is no right answer history has

have a history of antagonizing the british in some situation s it has turned deadly. Also on many
accounts of the events they had been found guilty of firing first. My reasons to support my thesis
are from British Lieutenant John Barker s personal diary of the day of the event and George

My first rebuttal source is Simon Winships official deposition 6 days after the event. He claims
that the british fired first when he says The troops marched on till they came within a few rods
of captain parkers company, who were partly collected on the place of the parade, when said
winship observed an officer at the head of said troops flourishing his sword, and with a loud voice
giving the word fire. So what happened was he was on the front line when he claims to have seen
the british fire first. But this is not a reliable source for the reason of it is 6 days after the event
they may forget some stuff as if it was on the day of the event as both of my sources. Also then is it
more reliable if a colonist say it was a colonist or a british claiming it was the colonist.
My final piece of rebuttal evidence is from the official deposition of Sylvanus Wood. He claims it
was the british when he says There was not a gun fired by any of Captain Parkers company within

9. Resident Officer Next Door Program
The Resident Officer Program of Elgin (ROPE) program is operated out of Elgin, IL (Dempsey
Forst, 2016). The program provides housing to officers in an effort to create safer communities
through working as well as living within areas of distress throughout the city. Currently, there are
four resident officers assigned to the ROPE program (Elgin PoliceDepartment, n.d.). The biography
of each officer has a commonality, they each want to help improve their communities through
getting to know their neighbors. Programs such as ROPE certainly have an impact on community
relations as well as the crimeperpetrated within them.
The Officer Next Door (OND) program began in 1997 under the direction of President Bill
Clinton, offering federally foreclosed homes to officers with a 50 percent discount (Dempsey
Forst, 2016). The homes were located in economically deprived areas throughout the United States.
The program was managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The program has grown throughout the years since its infancy broadening the available housing as
well as the professions that may apply to the program. The OND program is currently in the Good
Neighbor Next Door (GNND) program through HUD, allowing emergency medical technicians,
teachers, as well as firefighters, to obtain housing at the discounted rate. In exchange for the special
discount, applicants must agree to occupy the home for 36 months (HUD, n.d.).

10. Separate Mixtures Lab
The objective of this lab was to separate a mixture that consisted of elements and compounds. There
are seven ways to separate a mixture which included paper chromatography, filtration, evaporation,
simple distillation, fractional distillation, magnetism, and separating funnel. The only methods used
in this lab were filtration, evaporation, magnetism, and separating funnel. The method of
magnetism was used when the magnet was moved under the mixture to separate the iron. The
process of filtration involved the use of a filter paper placed in a filter funnel. The funnel was
placed in a beaker and the mixture of water, sand, and sodium chloridewas poured into the funnel.
The liquid part drained through the filter paper into the beaker, leaving the solid sand particles
trapped on the filter. After the water and sodium chloride were in a beaker, the process of
evaporation was used. The compound was boiled on a hot plate, which led to the water... Show

This separation was pretty successful, considering the difficulty getting every single piece of iron
using a magnet. Sodium chloride was another substance that did not receive a 100 percent yield.
Only 84 percent of sodium chloride was retrieved after separation. Zinc and sand were the only two
substances that had a 100 percent yield. Both were very easy to disconnect because of the
separation methods used. Since sand had the highest percent yield, filtration was the best separation
method in this lab.

12. A Summary On The Book Leonidas Essay
Chapter One
Leonidas needed a way to die.
He ran straight at the cave wall, head first, and bashed himself senseless. At least, he vaguely
remembered doing that when he woke up with his scaly dragon face flat on the floor. It was stupid,
but it was worth a try. His wyvern form was even tougher than his normal bullet proof skin and
inherent dragon healing powers. He d tried slashing his wrists, but his fae runes just scurried to
heal them. He could keep re cutting, but when he passed out from the blood loss, the wounds
would heal, and he d wake up still very much alive. Repeated attempts just kept him out longer
while his blood regenerated.
It was fucking hard to kill a dragon.
He dragged his sorry wyvern ass up to front of the cave ti was a pocket of mountain he d carved out
over a decade ago, once he got close to the end of his days. At least he d made it to his tomb before
he lost his mind entirely, which meant Rosalyn was safe from his wyvern s savage need to take
her by force, seal her with his dragonfire, and then rape her until he impregnated her with his child.
A shudder ran through him with that horrifying thought. He d flown away from the keep as fast as
he could, then he d thrown up the protection runes around his tomb that would forever lock his
beast inside. His wyvern, with its beastly mindlessness, would be trapped, unable to open the magic
cage he d summoned.
The only problem? Half a day had passed, and he was still in his right mind.

13. The Sliced-Crosswise Only Tuesday World Summary
A.Eternium Cylinders, or stoners as the characters in The Sliced Crosswise Only on Tuesday
World call them, are essentially pods in which people will hibernate until their next day arrives.
Eternium cylinders could be scientifically based on cryonics, in which a person s body will be
frozen and their bodily functions will pause until they are taken out of the chamber. This is
significant in The Sliced Crosswise Only on Tuesday World by Philip Jose Farmer because the
world has become overpopulated and the only way to reduce the stress is to have groups of
people live only one day a week. B.A glittering metallic framework, scarcely larger than a small
clock, and very delicately made. This is an excerpt from H.G. Wells The Time Machine in which
the time traveler is displaying a small replica of his time travel device to his friends. This small
model has the same capabilities as its full size counterpart, as was demonstrated in the novel as the
model launched into the future (or the past). This model is scientifically based in the theory of
time travel and how our perception of time could be altered. This model time machine is significant
to the story because the time traveler uses it in an attempt to convince his friends that he himself is
going to be the first person to travel into the future. C.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

academy in Vesailles. Lafayette became one of the king s Musketeers in 1777. By the age of
sixteen he was married to Marie Adienne Francoise de Noailles (UXL).
In August of 1775, Lafayette attended a dinner party hosted by the Duke of Gloucester. The Duke

Candide is a French satire that was first published in 1759 by Voltaire, who was a philosopher
during the Enlightenment Age. It is a story about a young man, Candide, who is a follower of
Leibnizian optimism. Candide witnesses and experiences many hardships in the world that puts his
life at risk and tests the strength of his beliefs. During Candides many adventures, he faces many
historical events that Voltaireuses to simplify subtle philosophies and cultural traditions, by
highlighting their many flaws. This essay will discuss the ways that the various context of
settings work in a satirical literature. Throughout the story, Voltaire uses optimisms folly as his
main satirical target. The characters Candide and his philosophy professor Pangloss are devoted
followers of the Leibnizian teachings of optimism. They both maintain that, everything is for
the best in this best of all possible worlds . (CITE). This idea is a simplified version of many
philosophies from a number of Enlightenment philosophers, most notably Gottfried Wilhelm von
Leibniz. To many of these thinkers, the presence of any evil in the world is a sign that God is
not entirely good, or is not at all powerful. But, the idea of an imperfect God is irrational. These
philosophers established that since God is perfect, the world he created must also be perfect, and
that those who perceive the worlds imperfections simply to do not understand Gods grand plan.

In the event that the American individuals really saw how the Federal Reserve framework
functions and what it has done to us, they would be shouting for it to be nullified promptly. It is a
framework that was composed by global brokers for the advantage of worldwide investors, and it
is methodically devastating the American individuals. The Federal Reserve framework is the

the U.S. government concludes that it needs to spend another billion dollars that it doesn t have,
it doesn t print up a billion dollars. Or maybe, the U.S. government makes a pack of U.S.

Venatrack uses proprietary tools, to re create action sequences, e.g. a players eye view of a free
kick, or a linesman s view of an off side decision. The technology debuted on UK television during
the season 2008/9 as part of Setanta s live coverage ending, post the broadcaster s demise, at the
2009 FA CupFinal at Wembley.
Importantly, Venatrack has recently been awarded prestigious contracts with two of the most well
respected organisations in the global football market, the Premier League Sky Sports and is set to
begin a three year supply contract for a wide variety of data and graphical material from August
2010.
Market Size
The nature of the technology means it can be used to provide extensive data analysis applications to
the broadcast, gaming, betting and coaching markets within the football industry. These markets are
estimated to be worth over ВЈ1 billion worldwide.
Beyond the contract with the Premier League, Venatrack anticipates achieving comparable
contracts with several of the top European leagues and their host broadcast partners, plus non EU
leagues of suitable size and value. It is currently in advanced negotiations with a second leading
European football association to equip its entire league with the system from the 2011/12 Season
onwards. Other commercial contracts include a long term agreement to provide

investments to support product initiatives for all Adidas healthcare products, the overall net

compared to most of its competitors, Adidas cleansing cloths are more expensive than most

Fraud at WorldCom WorldCom could not have failed as a result of the actions of a limited

These line cost expenses were a significant cost for all long distance carriers. LDDS started with
about $650,000 in capital but soon accumulated $1.5 million in debt since it lacked the technical
expertise to handle the accounts of large companies that had complex switching systems. The
company turned to Bernard J. (Bernie) Ebbers, one of its original nine investors, to run things.
Ebbers had previously been employed as a milkman, bartender, bar bouncer, car salesman, truck
driver, garment factory foreman, high school basketball coach, and hotelier. While he lacked
technology experience, Ebbers later joked that his most useful qualification was being the meanest
SOB they could find. 4 Ebbers took less than a year to make the company profitable. Ebbers
focused the young firm on internal growth, acquiring small long distance companies with limited
geographic service areas and consolidating third tier long distance carriers with larger market
shares. This strategy delivered economies of scale that were critical in the crowded longdistance
reselling market. Because the volume of bandwidth determined the costs, more money could be
made by acquiring larger pipes, which lowered per unit costs, one observer remarked.5 LDDS grew

24. Motivating Employees Essay
MOTIVATING YOUR EMPLOYEES
Every human being needs motivation now and then. Incentives and recognition programs can
support you in helping your employees become happier and more productive at work. As a
leader, one of the main things to think about is how to recognize an employee for a performance
that has exceeded expectations, objectives and goals. Therefore, I would like to introduce you in
this paper to some ideas that hopefully would promote this method as one of the main priorities in
today s and tomorrow s workplace.
People want to do more than work as machines; they want to be productive as well as being
recognized by others. Following the successful managers handbook, when employees have the

There are many ways in which companies can encourage and support motivation. Some of those
techniques are: Involving employees in decision making, providing feedback, keeping employees
informed at all times, building trust and relationships, and much more.
Involving employees in decision making:
People enjoy being included in decisions or situations in life. In the workplace it is essential to
hear other people s thoughts and ideas, in order to have a better outcome. Almost everyone likes
to have their ideas heard and implemented in decision making. When managers asks an employee
for advice in any given situation, even if is not implemented, it gives you a sense of importance in
that person s life. Also, it makes you feel that your ideas matter, and that you are not just an
employee, instead, you are someone I admire enough to help me make an important decision.
Feedback and Recognition: Employees are happier when they feel that they are rewarded fairly for
the work they do. Always acknowledge employee responsibilities, and the effort they put on, and
the tasks that they have done well.
According to Sanjay Tailor in her article How To Motivate Employees, Recognition is beneficial
from time to time for the employees to hear from their supervisors how they are doing. It doesn t
cost a thing to add a personal touch. A job well done deserves a pat on the back recognition, either
alone or in front of the team or other coworkers.

26. How Shakespeare And Rossetti Engage With The Sonnet
This essay will address how Shakespeare and Rossetti engage with the sonnet form, through
Rossetti s A Sonnet and Shakespeare s Sonnet 52 . Both poets arguably subvert the traditional
Petrarchan sonnet genre, though in different ways. Rossetti s A Sonnet explores the sonnet as an
art form rather than as a means of currency, as sonnets were seen to be at the time, and how if
treated as a commodity, the value of a sonnetis diminished. Similarly, Shakespeare s Sonnet 52
explores the connection between frequency and worth. However, Sonnet 52 adheres more closely
to traditional sonnet form, as the prevalent theme is romance, and the idealisation of the fair youth .
In contrast to Shakespeare s adherence to the traditional romantic focus of sonnets, Rossetti
subverts the genre by using The Sonnet as a metatextual device to explore his ideas around the
form of a sonnet itself.
Rossetti s The Sonnet is written in traditional iambic pentameter and employs the structure of a
Petrarchan sonnet. However, The Sonnet differs from conventions of the genre, as it is arguably a
commentary on the commodification of poetry in the late 19th century. As a predecessor to the
Aesthetic movement, Rossetti valued sonnets as art for art s sake ; the belief that art must separate
itself from serving a didactic or moral purpose in order to be considered culturally valuable, rather
than as a means of generating profit as sonnets were considered at the time. Challenging the

multiplexing techniques providing high capacity than the existing multiplexing techniques. Rapid

The construction of the Colosseum was a propaganda exercise with the aim of pleasing the citizens
which meant that the emperor kept himself in power. The emperors bought their popularity through
free entertainment and corn for the spectators which lead to the emperor buying the peoples votes
(Hopkins, 2011). The magnificent amphitheatre entertained the roman public becoming an
international emblem and propaganda tactic used by emperors to improve their political careers.
The economic benefit that the Colosseum had for Rome was enormous. The Colosseum provided
many jobs for the citizens of Rome; including work as ticket sellers, architects, merchants, slaves,
cleaners, curtain pullers, soldiers (crowd control), musicians, gladiators, animal trainers, sand
layers, engineers etc. (DeLasCasas, 2007). It also assisted the economy as it provided
opportunities for money to move around the different class levels as merchants sold many assets
at the games. Another way that money came into the Ancient Roman economy was through
gambling, people would win and lose fortunes at the games similar to the way people bet on
today s sporting events. According to DeLasCasas, 2007, when the Colosseum was closed in 399
AD the Roman economy suffered as it meant no jobs for a number of citizens, which lead to them
not being able to provide for their families and this lead to poverty. The Roman Colosseum had a

China, Japan, and the U.S. in the 20th Century
During the later half of the 20th century, China and Japan underwent both economic and non
economic reforms that were aided by the influence of the United States. In China, the death of
Mao led to the rise of the dark horse candidate Hua Guo Fang, a transitional figure who
denounced the Gang of Four. Though only in power for a few years, his last act was to revive
Deng Xiaoping s political office, a man that would do more for China in the next 20 years than the
last century combined. In Japan, the loss of the war to the Allies has resulted in the occupation of
Japan by U.S. soldier. The post World War II occupation greatly affected the economic and political

This caused a shift towards a fast growing consumer society. Slowly the Chinese began to be able
to buy more consumer goods due to their increased revenue. However, the dawn of the 80 s
made Deng question the growth of China. A fear for two much freedom and inflation made
Deng re polarize and backtrack, slowly limiting spending. This form of rising expectations met
by failed expectations from the young and growing consumer market ultimately led to the fatal
incident of 1989. The change and freedom in laws gave the younger generation a feeling of
empowerment and euphoria. High expectations grew out of this booming mixed economy.
However, signs of corruption and inequality led for friction in the ranks of Chinese society. A call
for increased standards of living for educated citizens caused uproar countrywide. Their protest that

The Rise and Fall of Troy Maxon: An Analysis of August Wilson s play Fences In Fences, August
Wilson, the playwright, provides a believable and powerful examination of the African American
experience in the late 1950 s. It provides an apt portrayal of the mentality of African American men
going into the civil rights movement, as well as a well developed account of the friction that occurs
between a father and a son, and a husband and wife in the face of conflict. According to Wilson, his
play provides Caucasians with a view into an African Americans life to find similarities to their own
(Kennedy and Gioia 1883). Not only did Wilson accomplish this, but also provided a representation
of interfamily relationships that occurs in many cultures. For instance, Katz maintains that the
father son relationship contains ... inherent seeds of conflict (Katz). The relationship between Cory
and Troy mirrors the conflict between many young men and their fathers as they attempt to create
their identity and independence while the fathers are still attempting to shape their future based on
their experiences, creating conflict that transcends differences in race and culture. Similarly, the
issue of infidelity in a marriage is another issue that is common in a multitude of cultures (Hartnett),
and addressed in this play through Bono s accusations toward Troy, and Troy s subsequent
admission to Rose that he had an affair resulting in a child. Wilson puts the most effort into

moral of the novella (Mann, Death in Venice). The importance of Venice, Italy being chosen as the
second setting is that Venice is everything Auschenbach and his accustomed cultural environment
are not. And it is this very contrast that temps and leads Auschenbach down the rabbit hole. As
Hannelore Mundt also mentions in the sixth chapter of her literary criticism of Death in Venice,
Mann took inspiration from German philosopher and cultural critic, Friedrich Nietzsche (Anderson).
As stated in Professor Raymond Gray s lecture notes for Death in Venice . Mann was profoundly
influenced by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche s primary aesthetic treatise,
The Birth of Tragedy out of the Spirit of Music (1872) postulated the existence of two distinct and
opposing artistic tendencies (Gray). In the case of the protagonist von Auschenbach if whether it
was the austere cultural environment of his homeland of Germany or the paternal influence that
encourage a strict and decently simple lifestyle (Mann, Death in Venice). Psychologically, up until
the day in early May in which Auschenbach decided to refresh his mind with a walk outside in his
town of Munich, Germany, he was content in living with an Apollonian

41. Character Analysis Of The Giver
The Giver: Analyzing Characters and Topics The character in the story that I was most fascinated
by was the Giver. This character has many admirable qualities. He is resilient against the painful
and hard memories he has seen and he is loving. He and Jonas are the only two characters in the
story that are even capable of loving. While reading this story, I felt as though the Giverand Jonas
were lucky because they get to understand and feel love, but on the other end of the spectrum,
they experience pain and great sadness. The other characters in the story get to be blissfully
unaware of the pain and suffering of the past. The first trait that I mentioned above, resilience, is
why I like the Giver s character so much. The quote that exemplifies this is, The worst part of
holding memories is not the pain. It s the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared. I ve
shared them with you, Jonas said, trying to cheer him up. That s true. And having you here with
me over the past year has made me realize that things must change. For years I ve felt that they
should, but it seemed so hopeless. Now for the first time I think there might be a way (Lowry
1993 Ch. 20 p. 154 155 para. 9 11). This shows the Giver s resilience. He has been lonely because
he had these memories, some that were very painful, and no one with which to share them. He saw
pain and love and somehow lived with the burden of this knowledge. He continued to carry the
burden of being the Receiver while

42. Masks And Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses symbolism to show that leaders have the power to put
masks on their followers in order to manipulate their minds and way of thinking. The book is
about a group of English schoolboys, which are stranded on an island. As time passes, the boys
change their personalities. But do they really change? Or do their perfected masks slowly come
off and become replaced by the maskof savageness, put on by their prefect?
People hide their true identities behind masks they create and perfect. Some of them are
stronger than others and therefore they create stronger masks. Even though Ralph gets elected
as a leader, Jack seems to be stronger. Though, not a stronger personality, but rather by
intimidating the smaller kids and gaining power from it. He then builds his very own mask:
Jack planned his new face. He made one cheek and one eye socket white, then he rubbed red
over the other half of his face and slashed a black bar of charcoal across from right ear to left jaw
[...] He looked in astonishment, no longer at himself but at an awesome stranger (63). By putting
the different colors on his face, Jack creates a new self. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A leader uses techniques, which they have perfected over time to manipulate peoples minds to
make them follow them. The smaller kids on the island are afraid of the beastie, which they also
have nightmares about at night. Though, Jack doesn t care about it all and uses their fear to turn
it around and give them security by making them feel more powerful within a group. As everyone
knows, one feels stronger and more secure inside a group. By for example yelling the hunting
chant, the kids feel unity and they feel like they belong to a group. Furthermore, being the same as
all others is also a symbol of integrity. In the book, the children wear a uniform, and later paint their

43. Army Musket
Throughout history the United States Army has undergone a plethora of changes. Since its
inception in 1776 ever this has evolved from personnel, to rank structure, even the uniforms but the
one piece of equipment that has seen the most change has been the weaponry; more specifically the
small arms issued to individual soldiers. Small arms used by American forces in the Revolution
were many and varied, however at the beginning of the war the British Short Land Service Musket,
often referred to as the Brown Bess, was perhaps the most common musket on hand. In 1777, the
French allied themselves with the American cause and began sending arms and equipment. After
the revolutionary War the Army transitioned to The U.S. Musket Model 1795 this rifle... Show more

The next big improvement came in 1964 with the adoption of the M16. The M16 was ordered as
a replacement for the M14 at the direction of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara over the
objection of the Army. However from the beginning the M16 showed a lot of problems When the
M16 reached Vietnam, reports of jamming and malfunctions in combat immediately began to
surface. Some additional improvements were made but the rifle s reputation continued to suffer.
Moreover, complaints about the inadequate penetration and stopping power of the 5.56mm
cartridge persisted throughout the conflict. In the mid 1980s the army transitioned into a rifle
still in use today the M16A2. The M16A2 was technologically advanced in many ways the most
specific being the select fire capability. A select fire rifle capable of semi automatic fire or three
round bursts. The burst fire mechanism utilized a three part automatic sear that fires up to three
rounds for each pull of the trigger A combination of the M16A4 and M4 Carbine continued to
replace existing M16A2 Rifles used by the Army. However the M16A2 still remains in

Abstract The little ice age gave us a glimpse as to how climate change can affect our society. This is
especially important today as we stand on the brink of another environmental catastrophe. The
acceleration of greenhouse gas output has irrevocably changed how mankind affects the
environment. The lessons that we can learn from studying the little ice age may lead us to
understanding what we can do stop this process.

It removes the time needed for adaptation and causes a great loss of life in the process. Globally,
millions due to the direct and indirect influences of the little ice age. Every major death event
and war during this period from the black plague to Napoleon s failed campaign into Russia, the
French revolution, and the Irish potato famine are tied to the little ice age. The little ice age was
preceded by a warmer wetter period that allowed people to become reliant on certain crops and
weather patterns for their survival. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start
this cooling period that lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually
set events in motion. It is hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a
large volume of fresh water into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm
water from reaching the northern climates and therefore the atmosphere grew colder because of
this. The second circumstance was the Maunder Minimum. This is a period of dormancy for
sunspots. This results in less radiation reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was
actually a series of events. Volcanic eruptions started with a regularity of five major eruptions every
century. This put a large amount of ash and water vapor into the atmosphere which in turn reflected
the sunlight, deepening the cooling

45. Gas Laws Should Be Taught As A Verb
GAS LAWS
Science should be taught as a verb as well as a noun. Performing science is a compelling as well
as an effective way to learn. It is through the process of exploration, creation and invention that
theories are applied, ideas are tested and knowledge is synthesized.
Much of what discussed in the paper is to have an understanding of gases in the atmosphere,
factors that affect the properties of these gases and so the laws of gases which help to do so. Now
why do we need to study these laws? Because gases compose our atmosphere. These are
responsible for the process without which no one can survive i.e. breathing.
Atmosphere is a gaseous envelope surrounding the earth. It is made up of a combination of water ...

One of the most important things about gases is that, despite wide differences in chemical
properties, all the gases more or less obey the gas laws. The gas laws deal with how gases behave
with respect to pressure, temperature, volume and amount. This uniformity of physical behavior
was of great interest with early scientists. It is one of the dogmas of scientists that the behavior of
a material is a reflection of the particles that make up the substance. In other words, differences
between solids, liquids and gases reflect the movement of the small particles that compose all
matter. This assumption is part of the Kinetic Theory Of Gases (Kinetic is from the Greek word for
motion). Historically, the description of the gas properties has been summarized by the
mathematical equations describing the relationships between the gas volume, pressure and
temperature. These equations, named after the scientist who first demonstrated their validity, have
been labeled the gas laws. These gas laws are best understood within the framework described as
the kinetic theory of gases:
Gases are composed of molecules.
These molecules are in constant motion. This is why gases mix to uniformity and fill all portions
of the containment vessel.
Molecules of the gas collide frequently with each other and with the walls of the containment vessel.
Under ordinary circumstances, the distance between the gas molecules is far greater than the size
of the individual

47. Persuasive Essay On Being An Adult
When do you actually become an adult? There are legal terms that qualify someone as an adult, but
that doesn t necessarily mean that they act like one. I think being an adult means, being able to
support yourself; as in having a steady paying job, and most importantly being accountable to
yourself. Being able to make your own decisions without asking a parentor model figure first, is an
example of having an identity status of a moratorium. One with this type of mindset as a young
adult, will weigh their options and consider their values and what they believe themselves, whether
it s their own thoughtbranched off of their parents guidance, or it is completely their own ideaand
they explore to see what their views are. On the other hand, for some, they rely on their parents
approval, they may have an idea or opinion about a topic, but they will ask a parent or model
figure in their life to seek guidance. The young adult wants the security of having the approval of a
decision and being told what to do and pointed what direction to go towards. This is essentially
making the decision for them. This type of identity status if called foreclosure.
At a very young age, I was given the responsibility to take care of my youngest sister after school.
I had to help her with her homework, make dinner for us both and put her to bed some days; and
on top of that do my own homework and get my chores done. Both of my parents worked full time

48. Essay on The Power of Words
The Power of Words Communication and language are not always synonymous. Gesticulations and
facial expression can convey certain messages that often make verbal expression unnecessary.
Although I appreciate the endless possibilities that are associated with speaking, our primary means
of communication, I have discovered that the human capacity for speech might not be as extremely
innate as the linguist Noam Chomsky claimed. A few years ago, I had the privilege of encountering
a thirty five year old woman named Joann at a summer camp for adults with multiple disabilities.
Being extremely autistic, Joann was unable to close her mouth, let alone form distinguishable
words. Instead of talking, her principal method of communication was to... Show more content on

Genie was never able to learn how to properly talk and was rendered verbally impotent by her
silent environment, but according to Dennett, shouldn t she have been able to learn? However,
Joann did seem to be able to understand what was being said to her, though she was not capable
of responding since she was able to comprehend and follow simple directions. Even some of the
most autistic people in the camp were able to recognize when someone was talking to them, which
confirms the innateness of oral comprehension, but not speaking. Understanding and talking are
not interchangeable, so a clarification is needed in order to distinguish the two. I sometimes have
moments in which a verbal freeze occurs, in which I have a thought that I can t manage to
verbalize. Perhaps Joann lives in a constant state where she is unable to express what she is
thinking the thought processes are there, but the language is not. If this is true, then the capacity
for language is innate, but cannot be so simply accessed in all people. Therefore, is it possible for
Joann to think without using language? Are language and thought somehow linked? For our
Neanderthal and early human forbearers, verbal communication probably consisted of a series of
grunts and gestures and language as we know it today subsequently ensued. Thus, did thought
precede language? Our ancestors were able to create fire without words, which displays some form
of intellect, but I think that

The life of Ada Mabus and the hardships she faced The 1930 s was a fun time for many. Others

The Housemaid s Daughter by Barbara Mutch, Ada Mabuse; would say that the 1930s was a
place where nobody of colour would like to be. Ada is a little girl, working with her mother in
the Cradock house, for Master Edward, Madam Cathleen, Master Phil their son, and Miss rose
their daughter. During this period negros faced a lot of challenges and hardships. They did not

50. My Writing That I Did Not Know Before
Over the course of this class I have learned many things about writing that I did not know before,
because I never had any great instruction before i came to college. In Grade school and high
school, when I got back a graded paper there would just be words crossed out, or punctuation
corrections. There would never be any explanation as to why I need to correct this, or why this
is wrong. I would go over the corrections and wonder how this is wrong and why does a comma
go there but why doesn t a comma go here. When reading the corrections and notes you made on
each of my papers this year, I more easily understood why something was wrong. I might not have
made the same corrections in the next paper, but each paper I got back I understood what was
wrong, and what I needed to do to correct it. I think I understood more about writingwith each
paper that I wrote this year. I might not have shown it with each paper because I seem to always
make the same errors. I always get mixed up when using singular and plural nouns, using the
same adjective throughout the paper, and not being descriptive. I knew after you made the
corrections why something is wrong, but I never seemed to make the corrections myself, because
I have a habit of making those same mistakes, and because it sounds like it is right to me because
I speak that way myself. Those errors I made in each of my papers seemed to be right at the time
of me writing them, but when you pointed them out to me after giving back
