Due to our recent purchase of the hospital and subsequent reviews of the operations some issues
have to be addressed. This memo is purely directed towards the hospitals record keeping practices
and HIPAA compliance. Currently the hospital is processing everything but insurance billing
manually. The use of paper records is not only a security risk it can also be destroyed in a disaster. In
another memorandum we will discuss the need to develop a functional Disaster Recovery Plan
(DRP). The first thing we need to discuss what HIPAA is and why it was enacted. TheHealth

Memo Analysis Paper
Comments:
The following memo will give an overview of two different research projects. This memo presents
the executive summary of Mary Greeley Medical Center and Lennox company; each document will
be analyzed based on their main audience, its purpose, as well as its contextual variables. In addition
to that, I will be outlining the function of writing within the scope of academic writing in English
academia, as it appears in the profession of university level education.
Memo Analysis
I chose Mary Greeley Medical Center (MGMC) as the first technical description and Lennox
Company as the second choice. The main audience for both of these projects are for seniors who
are taking IE441 class, and for those who have graduated from the Industrial Engineering (IE) major,
as well as for those non–specialist readers who is least likely to understand the concept of these
projects, but also has the least reason to try. The main purpose of this memo is to inform graduating
students in IE about technical description....show more content...
For instance, "to reduce the decision to admit to discharge from ER department" and "to increase
the balance efficiency of the HP2 line by 5–15%", respectively. In addition to that, Lennox project
should include a briefly description about the company, in fact, some readers might probably do not
know what kind of company Lennox is all about. At the same time, both of the projects fully
mention about the estimate cost of the project in their fourth paragraph, in terms of capex and/or
revenue. However, I suggest both of these projects should also provide a high–level estimate on time
scale to implement this project in terms of its cost limit or budget valuation. On the other hand, both
projects should have indicated some of the risks that can be considered at this early

While writing this paper, I attempted to follow the forms and models put forth in the research
papers we read in class during this unit. It was helpful to have something to follow while writing
this report because I focused more on the "how" and "why" instead of the "what" of the research
report structure. Overall, I found that this paper was much more organized than my last and I hope
that this also improved the quality of my writing. I understand that this paper is longer than the
assignment stated, but for good reason. The literary analysis follows the examples given in class
and, therefore, takes up a considerable amount of room, considering that I cite three works in my
paper from our textbook. Additonally, the findings...show more content...
Instead of discussing the song list for the week or the order of service, this email discusses the
potential days for performance and a final decision agreed upon by all members. Additionally, the
voice here is much different than the first sample cited prior. Not only do the individuals use
familiar words and phrases like "Hey guys" and "as long as it works for Jenna," one of the members
uses a musical allusion to a famous Coldplay song titled "Viva La Vida" when she says "Viva la
Frio Trio." Granted, this email is a conversation among familiar friends, but it does show another
side to the worship team email genre. As seen in this example, this genre can take on many forms
both in its voice and in its content.
Concluding with the last email sample studied, supplementary genre features can be found. With the
return of a long absent member, this last email takes a semi–familiar tone, while retaining the
consistent structure and vocabulary recognized by all members. Schmitke states:

The purpose of this memo is to introduce my background, achievements and career goals to the
professor, Christina Hunter.
Background
Born and Raised in India, I came to Canada three years ago with my father. My mom has been
living in Canada since 2001. I have a small family; it includes mom, dad and me. It was a huge
change in my life and took a while for me to adapt the lifestyle of Canada. My schooling has been
done in India up to grade 9 and then continued my education in Canada. In Canada, my high school
was done in West Humber Collegiate Institute located in Etobicoke. Besides school, I also
participated in extracurricular activities in order to interact with different people from different
backgrounds. I played on school's badminton...show more content...
I've also had an experience working as managers' assistant at a construction company. There, my
job was to organize documents, check mails, attend phone calls and remind due dates for
company's bills. As of now, I am in a second semester of my program and first semester has been
really good. After graduating from Humber College I am looking forward to do CPA. Seven years
from now, I imagine myself being employed into an accounting firm or open an accounting firm of
my own.
Other interests
Besides accounting, other field that interests me is fashion industry. If I am given a chance to
switch my career, I would choose fashion designing. I love designing things especially clothing.
My other interests include cooking, reading books, drawing and photography. I even took a
photography course in my high school. It was an interesting course. I learnt a lot of unique
perspectives that a photographer keeps in mind while taking pictures. Photography has always been
a passion for me which is why I was able to score 96 in the course.

Criminal records for individuals from the local police departments

Record on civil litigation
According to sec. 137 (1) of the Courts of Justice Act (CJA), on payment of the prescribed fee, a
person is entitled to see any document filed in a civil proceeding in a court, unless a statute or an
order of the court provides otherwise, e.g. in case of confidential information.
In addition to that, on payment of the prescribed fee, a person is entitled to see any list maintained
by a court of civil proceedings of actions commenced or judgments entered (sec. 137 (3) CJA).
Apart from that there is no 'civil litigation record' in relation to a person that you can request from
a single authority that would cover all courts in Ontario. Instead you have to request the
information as to whether a person is or was involved in a lawsuit from every single courthouse in
Ontario. There is no established way to handle such a request. Every courthouse will handle this
request the way it considers appropriate, as there is no standard for that. This means, that a
courthouse will probably refuse to 'certify' that kind of information and might only provide
'informal' reference on ongoing or past lawsuits, as the risk of mistaken identities is too high. In
Canada a person can sue another

RE: Writing Sample
In the future, I am expecting that my writing will be a type that is focused upon fact based
information. Creating pieces of writing that can help support a certain objective or demand such as a
description of events where a crime has been committed or preparing statements and forms to be
used in court. My thoughts are that the writing will be somewhat easier than what I have been used
to in high school, as it deals with pure factual information on events that have recently happened
rather than being creative with your thoughts. I anticipate that the styles will be more restrictive
compared to "playing" with your writing by using different literary techniques.

Confidential Memo: President's Task Force 2.2.4 Action Item In the wake of the 2014 fatal
shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, national attention has focused on the use of force by law
enforcement (ACLU, 2016.) To rebuild trust between law enforcement and communities, President
Barack Obama signed an executive order establishing the Task Force of 21st Century Policing. In
2015, President Obama met with members of his Task Force and delivered a message to the press
which highlighted the need to collect more data and information stating; "...there was a great

technical assistance from D. Brian Burghart; founder of the "Fatal Encounters" project that
crowdsources media accounts and public records to create a national database of people killed by
law enforcement (Grothaus, 2015.) Burghart's work on "Fatal Encounters" will be fundamental to

The purpose of this memorandum is to explain how I will go about writing my documents for the
remainder of the semester. The goal is to show how I will apply various tips and guidelines I have
learned throughout the chapters we have read.
In the past two months, we have learned about ways of creating technical documents. Chapters 1–9
and 14 have given me many different strategies on how to create a well written document. Strategies
such as analyzing your purpose and audience, researching information, using organizational patterns,
etc. really help make a clear and concise documents for the remainder of the semester.
Firstly, when starting a new document of an assignment I need to analyze the audience. Of course
the person reading my documents would be the instructor. However, each assignment comes with a
writing task and it usually includes a scenario of writing a memo to a certain group of people in a

Chapter 3 offered many different techniques on how to generate ideas. One technique I have used
for a while and will continue to use for writing future documents is simply Brainstorming. I usually
just write down a list of possible topics I would want to include in my document. This has helped
me a lot in my writing from high school and now with college writings.
Lastly, when I start writing my body paragraphs I will need to choose what organizational pattern to
use. Depending on what the topic is for my document, Chapter 7 gave me various organizational
patterns to use in my documents. In this case, for this memorandum I am using chronological order
to describe my process for writing technical documents. Organizational patterns will really help my
readers understand my documents.
For the remainder of the semester I will use these main techniques and many others for writing
documents. These will help me write clear and concise documents for my readers to
