Osama Bin Laden Essay
During the 1990s, Osama bin Laden, a fundamentalist militant and leader of Al–Qaeda, issued
several fatwas (legal edicts) opposed to the stationing of US troops in Saudi Arabia. By middle of
1996, Al–Qaeda was barely functioning as a terrorist organization, and had only thirty members.
Facing irrelevance and anxious that he was losing his leadership role over Islamist militants
worldwide, bin Laden, announced a "blessed jihad" to oppose the United States and its Western
allies on August 23, 1996 (Bruce, et al., 2005). As part of this jihad, bin Laden declared war on the
United States, which he intended to recruit new members for Al– Qaeda. This effort failed.
In February 1998, Bin Laden then formed the "World Islamic Front for Jihad Against...show more

Along with Osama bin Laden, the following also signed the charter: Ayman al–Zawahri for Egyptian
Islamic Jihad; Ahmed Taha, for Islamic Group's Rifai, and several leading jihadists from Pakistan
and Bangladesh. The group threatened attacks against the United States. In the end, however, this
effort did not generate significant Islamist support. Al–Qaeda, however, at this time was well funded,
technologically sophisticated and had a fairly large following of loyal militants.
Before the U.S. Embassy attacks in 1998, Taha began distancing himself from coalition. Bin Laden
threatened the United States stating that, "The coming days will guarantee . . . that America will
face a black fate. Strikes will continue from everywhere, and Islamic groups will appear one after
the other to fight American interests." He further said, "we do not differentiate between those
[Americans] dressed in military uniforms and civilians. They're all targets...You will leave when the
bodies of Americans soldiers and civilians are sent in the wooden boxes and coffins" (Vick,

Osama Bin Laden Execution
Inside the Execution of Osama Bin Laden Osama Bin Laden was the most wanted terrorist in the
world last saw the barrel of a United States Navy Seal. The master mind was an al–Qaida leader
known for some of the greatest attacks of terrorism in the world. This wasn't your average person,
Osama was smart. He never had contact with the outside world, he casted threats though unknown,
unanimous, untraceable, devices. The United States tracked him for years, he ended up being know
for the greatest attacks of terrorism in the world. Osama Bin Laden started the al–Qaida group. In
addition, Bin Laden embraced the belief of jihad which lead him to creating al–Qaida in 1988.
Osama thought Muslims should stir up in holy war and try to create one Islamic State. Bin Laden
wanted to prove that Americans would not be "master of this world," he believed it was al–Qaida.
The al–Qaida group started leaving their mark. Killing hundreds, they were responsible for the
largest act of terrorism on U.S soil. In September 9th, 2001, the New York's World Trade Center was
hit. As a result, the United...show more content...
After years of hard work, the day had come where American heroes had to do what needed to be
done. United States Navy SEAL Team Six is the most elite group of soldiers. "What sets SEALs
apart is our diversity in terms of the environments in which we operate," said Captain Duncan
Smith. President Obama authorized Operation Geronimo. The operation sent two teams of SEALs
into Abbotabad, Pakistan by Blackhawk Helicopters. The helicopters to hovered over Bin Laden's
compound dropping seals inside. One helicopter had engine failure inside the compound. The
SEALs found Osama. The soldiers ordered for him to surrender, Bin Laden was then shot dead. He
was shot twice, once in the chest and once in his forehead. The soldiers left Pakistan with Osama Bin

Osama Bin Laden Influence
In response to growing Western influence in the Middle East, Osama bin Laden formed al–Qaeda, a
global militant Sunni Islamist Organization, in 1988. The terrorist activities of this group resulted in
the creation of America's Operation Neptune Spear which successfully led to his capture and death
in 2011. Osama bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957 to Mohammed bin Laden and Hamida
Ghanem. His father was a Saudi millionaire, however, his mother was only a slave to the bin
Laden family when Osama was born. In 1962, Saudi Arabia banned all forms of slavery, enabling
Osama to become more part of the bin Laden family. In addition, as more U.S. troops began to
occupy countries in the Middle East, extremists like bin Laden were infuriated and declared a jihad,
or holy war, on the United States. After al–Qaeda was formed and initiated a number of terror attacks
against Americans, including the 9/11 acts, the United States launched an operation to eliminate
their number one enemy (PBS, 1).
In short, there are two major events that led to Osama bin Laden's terrorist views: the death of his
father in 1967, when he was only ten years old. This event brought Osama bin Laden closer...show

After al–Qaeda was formed and the initiation of the 9/11 plans and attacks, bin Laden set an
undeniable manhunt upon himself. Despite the warnings, 9/11 was a very unexpected terrorist
attack considering that the United States hadn't been attacked on its land in more than half a
century. They hadn't seen any blood spilled during war on their own soil since 136 years earlier.
It was almost impossible for the United States to be prepared for this attack because it had a very
peaceful history overall within its borders for the years leading up to the attacks. However, the U.S.
responded correctly, and less than ten years later Navy SEALS captured the man who took
thousands of lives, in Operation Neptune
