The City Harmonic Essay
The City Harmonic: The band uniting the Church through music
By Jessica Morris
The City Harmonic is not your average church worship band. For one, the four members based in
Hamilton, Ontario attend different churches. This then, is why their commitment to expressing
unity and crossing denominational boundaries is so prominent on their album WE ARE.
We ve always felt like we re a little bit different than the typical model of a worship band and have
always sensed that our roots in a cross denominational movement of church unity has shaped us in
very profound ways. Shares bass player Eric Fusilier.
As the churches in their hometown came together, they witnessed the birth of TrueCity, a
movement uniting churches in the region as they met, prayed and helped non profits in their ...

The American Spectator Analysis
This paper will discuss how the opinions expressed in two publications, The American Prospect
and The American Spectator, affects the articles they publish (The American Prospect, 2016A;
The American Spectator, 2016A). Both magazines produced pieces on the Affordable Care Act
but offer drastically different viewpoints to their readers regarding the same topic. A viewpoint,
which can be defined as a way of thinking and speaking about a specific topic, is expressed in an
article per how the author determines, based on opinion or selected facts (Mayfield, 2014, p.201
202). Opinions are formed from how an individual perceives a situation, are affected by emotions,
and if not backed with facts, can lead to misleading information (Mayfield, 2014,... Show more

When the author writes about a potential negative aspect of the system, he consistently ends the
thought on a positive note. One example is when the writer states that the program had numerous
issues with low enrollment numbers during the initial launch, but how the Affordable Care Act
now covers millions of people (Hacker, 2016). The article likens the Affordable Care Act to other
government programs, like Social Security and Medicare, and how there have been multiple
reforms within these programs, too (Hacker, 2016). The article s viewpoint is that the Affordable
Care Act will need reform to make it work, but that change will make it successful (Hacker, 2016).
At the same time, the article links that success to a Democratic president winning the nomination,
as a Republican president will cause it to fail, according to the magazine (Hacker, 2016). The end
result is a publication whose stance is that the Affordable Care Act is a program that should be
successful under the next liberal

counts? How does motivation and physical activity differ by grade and gender? Based on the
information obtained in the study, results for the first research question revealed that when students
viewed the physical education learning environment as one that is task or mastery oriented the
student in turn viewed participating in physical educationpositively. Results also revealed that there
was a connection with student insight of the learning climate and attitudes of the student as
opposed to self determination. Results for the second question revealed that associations with
attitude, self determination, and learning climate during the 24 hour pedometer count were not
strong. Results from the third research question confirmed results from previous research, that
physical activity levels and student motivationdecreases after grade six. Results from the pedometer
count further confirmed the theory that physical activity declines in grade six. Further studies
concluded that gender plays a role in physical activity levels. According to the pedometer counts,
boys achieved a greater amount of steps than girls, thus confirming that boys reach a higher level of
physical activity than their opposite counterparts. The authors acknowledged that the findings
reported with gender levels were consistent with other research conducted in this area.

Disadvantages Of Being A Gladiator
What was life as a gladiator? How does it affect humans today? What were the advantages and
disadvantages of being a gladiator? There are so many are so many questions about gladiators that
go unanswered, but now, thanks to archaeologists, we are able to answer those questions. Evidence
shows that being a gladiators had both advantages and disadvantages. A gladiatoris an armed fighter
who entertained audiences in the Roman Empireby fighting against other gladiators, wild animals,
and criminals. In late 1st century, Nicolaus of Damascus believed they were Etruscans. A
generation later, the 1st gladiatorial ceremonies were held in 310 BC. It was held by the
Campanians in celebration of their over the Samnites. The Romans were greatly influenced by
their predecessors the Etruscans. For example, the Etruscans always sacrificed an animal before
their ceremonies, so the Romans started doing the same. Gladiators were usually slaves or
criminals, but could also be free men. Professionals gladiators were usually free men, but they
were all treated as slaves. Free men still wore shackles and had to do whatever they were told.
Although they were treated as slaves, free men would often be the most popular amongst the
crowd. Criminals and slaves would be set free if they survived 3 5 years as a gladiator. More than
100 gladiator schools were built throughout the Roman Empire. Gladiators were sent to school
depending on if they were a criminal or not.

Why I Believe In The Pickle Theory
I believe in the pickle theory. You may think I am going to talk about how the pickling process
relates to some other far off ideal, or how the number of seeds vary in every pickle and each
represents something else. But you d be wrong. My pickle theory has to do with tradition. Every
christmas my dad hides a pickle, a pepper, and a pea pod ornament. My two sisters and I then all
go searching for one of these three things. Whoever finds the pickle gets first pick, pepper gets
second, pea pod third. My dad then holds out three envelopes to choose from. Each envelope
contains a different amount of money, ranging from smaller to larger amounts. The catch is, you
don t know which envelope has which amount of money. This is where the pickle theory... Show

The second lesson I have learned from the pickle theory is that it winning isn t everything. Now
this may sound exactly like the first one, but I promise this is different. The thing with winning
in this sense is that you may get first place, but that doesn t necessarily mean you get first prize.
Often times when you win something you end up with a hollow victory, or a feeling that even
though you won, you some how lost. Although that is a much deeper subject in the same realm
of my own, it still kind of describes the feeling when you realized to lost. Big time. The things I
have learned simply from a pickle amaze me. I have changed the way I act in everyday life and I
have changed the way I react in situations. For example. If I were playing a game of monopoly, I
wouldn t worry about rolling the biggest number first. This is because getting the first move in
the game has no advantage to how the out come of the game will turn out. That person may lose
first, win first, or they may end up stuck in jail for most on the game. Instead, I would pay
attention to what is going on ahead of me. My choices will decide my fate in the game, and all
you can do is pay attention to what is happening and do whatever you think is best. Now that I
think about it, the pickle theory creates an existential sort of belief. It is not the luck of finding the
pickle and choosing first, it s your

The Next Christendom Essay
THE NEXT CHRISTENDOM
BY PHILIP JENKINS
A SUMMARY AND RESPONSE
Kyle Sutton
Engaging Reformation and Modern Christianity CH503 XD
December 16, 2011
In the preface, Dr. Philip Jenkins clearly states his thesis for The Next Christendom, Far from being
an export of the capitalist West, a vestige of Euro American imperialism, Christianityis now rooted
in the Third World, and the religion s future lies in the global South .[1] The distinctions of global
North and global South describe the groupings of Europe, North American, and Japan (global
North) and Asia, Africa, and Latin America (global South). [2] This ten chapter book can be
divided into two major sections. In the first five chapters, Jenkins traces the historical ... Show more

This Southern church is enthusiastic, spontaneous, fundamentalist, and supernatural oriented.
Several other reasons press the shift to the South. Among these, first, Western nations have largely
developed an egregious attachment to tolerance and materialism. Second, simple population growth
is slower in the West than developing nations. This does not imply that other major religions are not
growing in the South also, the point is: Christianity is growing at an incredible rate in the Southern
hemisphere and in China and impacts the global look of Christianity.[9] If such trends continue,
Jenkins claims Christianity will inevitably become increasingly Southern in style, culture,
philosophy, and academics. So the questions remain: what will Christianity look like when it is no
longer culturally European or Western? Will it still be Christianity in its core? As the church
population explodes in developing nations and becomes more indigenous to those cultures, will
there be a conflict of orthodoxy and heresy like in the early church? Will the church become
increasingly poor, libertarian, or spiritual? [10] In the second half of the book, Jenkins responds to
these questions. In Chapter eight, Jenkins explores the turbulent possibility for horrific violence,
war and terrorism along religious lines that might accompany the rise of Southern Christianity
which is already happening and about which the western public is largely uninformed. Christian

Gender Roles In Gender Socialization
Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At
a young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male
or female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for
one gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys playa role in gender socialization,
I made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have
changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went
through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that
would indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys
R Us had their aisles organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning
education, bikes wheels, sports, and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to
one gender, I looked at what types of toys were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in
each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls were filled with lots of pink while boyaisles had
darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark purple. The majority of girltoys were composed
of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles.
There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but the ones offered were more on the
educational side. Most of the

The Diary Of Anne Frank

like in the holocaust, from a personal standpoint. It came from the pages of a diary belonging to a
young Jewish girl, Anne Frank. The Diary of Anne Frank has been read by hundreds of millions of
people around the world since the end of World War II. Otto, her father, was a very well
respected businessman and a leader of the Jewish community. Anne had one sibling, a sister
named Margot, who was two years older. At the time, the country s leader was Adolf Hitler, his
followers that supported him were known as Nazi s . Hitler blamed Germany s economic
disasters on the Jewish people, in order to fix this, he wanted to annex people who practiced the
Jewish faith out of the country. He sent these people to concentration camps, better known as
death camps. It was almost impossible for anyone to survive. The camps consisted of gas
chambers, leading poison into a room killing everyone. The main cause of death was starvation,
and the poor conditions leading to diseases. Throughout the book, she explains how hard it was
to for her, and her family to get away from these horrible tragedies that took place. Think of all the
beauty still left around you and be happy. Anne tried to see the positives in life, but it is hard when
a grand genocide is happening. By 1933, Otto

John s audience might recognize the Royal Family and the paparazzi as the wind that blew
against Diana s candle and ultimately snuffed it out. John continues to use picture words in the
chorus to symbolize the struggles Diana faced. In line 12, when the rain set in allows the
audience to picture her hard times. Still, Diana was a resilient woman, and her grieving audience
would realize that she persevered over many obstacles in her life. She married at the age of 19,
and anyone s marriage is difficult by itself. Add to the fact that she was thrust onto the world
stage when she married into the Royal Family made it that much harder. John s lyrics suggest
that Diana remained positive and rarely let the dark times get her public persona down. Next,
John uses the image your candle s burned out long before (line 15, 31, 47),and the audience is

life and then died in vain. John s powerful repetition of your legend never will (line 16, 32, 48)

Analysis Of The s Metamorphosis
One major difference Apuleius makes in his depiction of Psyche is that he places a premise in
her original encounter with Cupid she is not allowed to know his identity nor to see his face. The
sequence of Psyche s acquaintance with her lover, in fact, plays quite an important role in the
story. People often say that, To see is to believe. However, it is not always the case. Under the
circumstance of love, what one sees will be highly deceptive, as it is human nature that one will
prefer individuals with charming faces or distinguished reputations and thus more easily fall victim
to his/her biased judgement. As illustrated by the misery of Echo in Ovid s Metamorphosis, her
love for Narcissus bases so much on his outstanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a matter of fact, the way a person communicates is a significant reflection of his/her mindset;
hence, through their conversations, Psyche is able to understand the internal world of his lover and
build up psychologically empathetic connection with him. (Quotes from the story of Cupid and
Psyche that she is able to feel his kindness.) Without the intervention of illusive perception, Psyche
senses the concern from her husband more distinctly by heart, and consequently enforces their
association in later time. (outwardly attractive) Some might argue that even though Psyche might
take advantages of learning about the true characteristics of her husband by her mind and soul
instead of her eyes, the fact that she can neither perceive Cupid s appearance nor get information
about his life span still violates their relationship; Otherwise, Psyche will never try to ascertain
Cupid s identity. Nevertheless, to grasp the real essence does not imply that Psyche should never
have knowledge of Cupid; instead, to know a person in a comprehensive way, both the interior
nature and the exterior features are crucial. The thing that matters is the chronology of the cognitive
process. In Psyche s situation, she manages to decipher her husband to form their mental ties before
she actually catches sight of him, and after that her discovery of Cupid s truth constructs a more
inseparable interconnection rooted with her intellectual comprehension, much

Through the narration, the character s reference to her messy room makes it seem as though she

for international companies. If a company wants to sell its products or do trade in Japan they will

This presented a major dilemma for Rank Xerox when they wanted to enter Japan market. But

The Performance Of The Car Under Test
The analysis of the performance of the car under test was completed using AVL Cruise software.
Various Graphs are obtained so that the actual performance of the car can be determined. Graph 1
(Abundance) prominently shows the torque of the engine at the respective engine speed along with
the specific fuel consumption at that speed. Approximately 230Nm is the maximum torquethat can
be obtained at 4200 rpm, trailed by decrease in torque for the remaining speed. A cycle run was
conducted for three different periods of cycle in which the vehicle was accelerated then hold and
decelerated for certain time depending upon the requirement of cycle. Graph 2 A shows the change
in velocityupon change in accelerationfor three different cycle times. Also the shift of gears
during the period can be observed. Graph 2 B illustrates consumption of the fuel during the three
different stages. It can be noted that when the velocity was about 50 km/h the fuel consumption
was about 5.0 l/h. Also it significantly notifies that during idling the fuel consumption is 1.6 l/h.
In this Graph it can be inferred that the maximum operating pressure is 12 Bar for a speed of
4200rpm. Maximum fuel is consumed during the start of the engine at 0.5 bar, fuel consumption
gradually decreases with increase in engine speed. Graph 3 speaks about the maximum operating

Reynolds writes about events that happened during the British colonization of Tasmania during
1820s 1830s. The arrival of white settlers led to significant reduction of indigenous population.
While colonial governments argued about the term genocide , Reynolds s work suggests the term
accurately describes events that happened during that period of time. The author started his
arguments with references to other works and historical events. Reynolds highlighted colonization
of different areas had similar traits: white colonists made significant and successful efforts to

The situation could be explained by the small size of the island. Unlike mainland settlers, who
often stayed in hinterland, Tasmanian colonists needed most of the region s territories. At first
Arthur did not want any cruel actions. According to his letters, the man was against any
genocide or any violent acts against native tribes. But the governor did not follow own principles
because of directives from British government and inner events. The man gave settlers
permission for violence against indigenous people, imposed martial law and created the Black
Line, an armed sweep around the central part of the colony (Reynolds, 2004, p. 136). All
measures were focused on an attempt to localize and neutralize Tasmanian tribes. Governor s and
citizens actions were quite violent, but they did not want to use the term genocide , it was often
replaced with the word extirpation . Reynolds did not reject the genocide idea, but his article
created a basis for reasonable doubts. The man mentioned Aborigines aggression against colonists
and the fact that Arthur s efforts were focused not on the all Tasmanian regions. Reynolds
suggested the governor tried to use only the necessary amount of force (Reynolds, 2004, p. 147).

Slavery Impact On Slavery
Transatlantic trade slavery, facilitated by the European powers, is an era of slavery that is often
discussed and is often regarded as the most impactful form of slavery in terms of the number of
people it impacted and the geographical area that it covered. While the Transatlantic slavery trade
is an important topic it is not the only slaverytrade that existed. Ancient slavery in Rome is a topic
worth acknowledging and analyzing. The article Slavery in the Ancient World by A.H.M. Jones, the
article The Bitter Chain of Slavery : Reflections on Slavery in Ancient Romeby Keith Bradley and
Frank M. Snowden, and the article The Roman Slave Supply by Walter Scheidel all ask important
questions regarding slavery in Ancient Rome. The articles share similar themes and ask important
questions regarding the source of Roman slaves, the costs of Roman slaves, the number of
enslaved peoples in comparison to the rest of the population, the lifestyle of Roman slaves in
comparison to that of freedmen, the working conditions under which enslaved peoples were
placed, the existence of slavery in surrounding areas, different social and political settings and their
impact on slavery, the nature of the master slave relationship, how and why slavery did not seem to
be problematic in Roman society from a Roman perspective, the different forms of slavery, and why
slavery continued.

the acid. Citric acid and phosphoric acid are the main acids found in soft drinks. Phosphoric acid
is a corrosive acid found in many different forms. It can be found in fertilizers, soaps, dyes,

According to Dimensions of Dental Hygiene the acid can be as corrosive as acid in car batteries.
The acid is able to demineralize the enamel without sugar causing the PH of the mouth to lower.
The acid attack lasts twenty minutes each time a sip is taken. Root beer may be the best soda to
consume because it is the least acidic. It is often not carbonated and has very little to no citric or
phosphoric acid (Lloyd, 2007). The best time to drink a soda would be with meals to reduce the

Unferth In Beowulf
The Real Unferth Beowulf has many great people throughout the book who do great things, but
there was one person who really stuck out, and not because of his greatness. Unferth and his
bitterness towards Beowulf really made a lasting impression in this book. Unferth did not play a
huge role, but while he was mentioned, he showed his true, vile, colors. His part in the reading was
mainly to talk about the battle between Brecca and Beowulf, but he talked about it with such a
boorish attitude, that it gave him a bad reputation. He was mean and haughty towards Beowulf,
when all Beowulf was trying to do was save Herot. Having an almost frivolous place in the book,
Unferth showed he is a conceited, rude, and virulent person, who was a distasteful part in this
reading. Unferth gets angry and annoyed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brecca won the battle between him and Beowulf. Beowulf answers to this by reminding Unferth
that he got swept away in the water and that he stayed with Brecca by choice. Beowulf then tells
Unferth that he is the greatest, trying to prove to him that he is the man for the job, killing

Warleggen s Waiver Case Study
Warleggen s waiver is valid under public policy because it clearly, unambiguously, and
unmistakably informed the Poldarks of what was being waived. The injuries sustained by the
Poldarks are consistent with those injuries covered within the waiver they signed prior to
spelunking. The waiver covers Mr. Poldark s injuries within the RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH

A waiver must clearly, unambiguously, and unmistakably inform a signer of what is being

Warleggen s waiver distinguishes itself from the waiver in Roberts in that Warleggen s waiver
includes activity leading up to spelunking and cave tours, like the car or van travel to and from
the site , while also including the phrase ordinary negligence directly in the types of risks that are
included in spelunking. In Roberts, it was unclear to the court if the waiver covered activities
before and after entering the hot air balloon. Unlike in Brooten, Warleggen s waiver does not
followed the term negligence with OR ANY OTHER CAUSE. Warleggen s decision to omit that
phrase precludes the possibility for an overly broad interpretation, like construing the waiver to
release incidents involving recklessness and intentional conduct. If the waiver was overly broad
and extended beyond ordinary negligence, the clause would be invalid under public policy. The
waiver also includes ... ALL RISK[S] ASSOCIATED WITH SPELUNKING OR CAVING
EXCURSION..., which would seem to cover reckless or intentional conduct, but the sentence
preceding it describes what spelunking or caving excursion activities are and clearly states only
ordinary negligence is included. The waiver sets out the common activities included in spelunking
and cave excursions, while also specifically covering the activities that are common to spelunking.
Furthermore, the waiver language Risks include, but are not limited to. . . advised the Poldarks
that there were other risks to contemplate, distinguishing itself from the Atkins waiver which made
it difficult to ascertain what was in the plaintiff s and the defendant s contemplation. Warleggen s
waiver is clear as to what is covered; it is unambiguous as to what key terms mean; and it is
unmistakable as to the injuries suffered by the Poldarks and the injuries that are covered. Since the
waiver meets the requirements set forth,

Cloning, The, And False Interpretations Of Cloning
Cloning, an ethical issue that has been pressed across the globe, has become a substantial debate
throughout a majority of nations. The incorporation of a new type of reproduction in the United
States has a plentiful amount of benefits for certain animals and objects, but duplicates of humans
is hard to comprehend for many people across America. Currently, cloningis an interesting topic that
could become a new way to improve reproductionof animals and humans, prevent diseases, and
increase the overall health of Americans.
The incorporation of cloning in America has been long pondered on by scientists, government

interpretations. These unknowns and false interpretations of cloning has caused a significant
number of Americans to coward at the thought of it. Americans believe that cloning is
impossible, and that it s simply an act straight from a science fiction movie. With millions of
people viewing science fiction movies on cloning, such as Jurassic Park, Avatar, and The 6th Day,
those movies all lead to the downfall of the society. The negative connotation associated with
cloning in the media has created a detrimental perspective on cloning by the American people. The

Global Business Barriers
Global business is defined as the buying and selling of goods and services by people from different
countries (McWilliams Williams 2010). It also has to do with international trade and trade
agreements. Corporations that own businesses in two or more countries are called multinational
corporations (McWilliams Williams 2010). Most of these global businesses main headquarters are
found in the United States or the United Kingdom. Expanding to a global market is quite a complex
process and businesses have to take many different aspects into account such as: social/cultural,
legal, political, economic, environmental and technological factors. These components help create
an attractive business climate. Different businesses operate differently to assess these relevant
factors. Strict Import export rules and regulations also need to be followed. Entering the global
market also allows for larger competition between other similar businesses and to create trade
agreements. There are many rules and regulations when entering into the global market and with
each country having different requirements you must fulfil. These must be followed or the business
cannot enter into business in that country. Global businesses have trade barriers, which are
government imposed regulations that increase the cost and restrict the number of imported goods
(McWilliams Williams 2010). Different types of trade barriers include tariff and also non tariff
barriers such as: quotas, voluntary

The Gay Liberation Movement Of Manhattan, New York City
On June 28, 1969, the Gay Liberation Movement was sparked due to the Stonewall Riot in
Manhattan, New York City, (History.com Staff). The Stonewall was a gay club located in New
York City. It was often regulated and harassed by police officers but one day the LGBT decided to
stand up for themselves and fight back. Although the police were legally justified in raiding the
club, which was serving liquor without a license among other violations, New York s gay
community had grown weary of the police department targeting gay clubs, a majority of which
had already been closed. The crowd on the street watched quietly as Stonewall s employees were
arrested, but when three drag queens and a lesbian were forced into the paddy wagon, the crowd
began throwing bottles at the police. The officers were forced to take shelter inside the
establishment, and two policemen were slightly injured before reinforcements arrived to disperse
the mob. The protest, however, spilled over into the neighboring streets, and order was not
restored until the deployment of New York s riot police. The raid on the Stonewall Inn lead to
many riots and created an uproar from the LGBTcommunity, (Teal). The Stonewall Riot was
followed by several days of demonstrations in New York and was the impetus for the formation of

Comparsion of Sandra CisnerosВґ Barbie-Q and Annie ChopinВґs...
In Sandra Cisnero s short story Barbie Q, a Barbie doll is used to portray the author s inner
struggle to achieve perfection, and how her young age and innocence clouds her identity.
Throughout the text it is very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged
family and faced the issues many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In
the short storyit is also evident that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem
and confidence, as both the media and the author s social background have continuously portrayed
women as weak, powerless figures. Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the
protagonist, once again a female figure represented the life of domesticity a womanis expected to
hold by society. Although Chopin s story was written in the late 1800s and Barbie Q is a very
modern story, both depict the protagonist females as very helpless, incapable figures that trail after
the overpowering men.
In the second paragraph of Barbie Q, the author speaks from a first person perspective while
describing how she typically plays pretend using her dolls. The narrator explains to the reader
that, Your Barbie is roommates with my Barbie, and my Barbie s boyfriend comes over and your
Barbie steals him, okay? Kiss kiss kiss. Then the two Barbies fight. You dumbbell! He s mine. This
text openly reveals how the young author, who presumably has not even reached her teen years yet,

Killing Reagan
Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency is a book by Bill O Reilly and
Martin Dugard. The book is a biographical depiction of President Ronald Reagan, including a look
at his career as an actor, marriage to Nancy Reagan, an assassination attempt during his presidency,
and eventual physical and mental decline.
The book focuses on showcasing the nearly impossible obstacles he had to overcome in order to
carry out the duties as a man and as President of the United States. The authors wanted to create a
portrait of a great man operating in violent times , and that they did, albeit it being a bit skewed.
The book is a bit all over the place, but after the first chapter (1980 presidential debate) it follows
a chronological trend, with each chapter marking an important moment in Reagan s life. In regards
to the prologue, Bill O Reilly and Martin Dugard begin with the death of the former leader of the
free world, the man who defeated Soviet communism and ended the Cold War. Honorable tribute to
Reagan indeed but the more you read the book, the more you start to ponder who really was calling

The Influence Of The Roman Colosseum
Roman architecture has influenced our modern day society in many ways. One of the ways is by
the construction of the Roman Colosseum in 72 A.D. The Roman Colosseum was the first major
stadium or amphitheater to ever be built. Without the planning, construction, and techniques used
for Roman Colosseum, we would not have some of the famous stadiums and amphitheaters that
exist today.
The Yankee Stadium and Staples Center are both examples of stadiums that were well influenced
by the Roman Colosseum. Many similar techniques were used to build the Colosseum, and were
also used in the making of these two stadiums. An example of a technique that was used during
the building of the Colosseum is the architectural design of the arches that are in the Great Hall
of the Yankee Stadium. They were built from a series of stone blocks that were placed in a
certain way to hold them together in the shape of an arch. Another example of important idea that
the Romans developed, and used often was organized labor. Organized labor was useful because
it was a way of sorting all the workers and their skills into the appropriate and corresponding jobs.
It also provided a working system including receiving breaks, lunches and some set work hours
along with medical care for when it was needed. Many other different techniques that the Romans
created were used in the making of other famous stadiums and amphitheaters and continue to be
used today. The Roman Colosseum was the first major stadium ever

The Aging Of Youth In The 1930 s At The San Gabriel Ranch
Over the years, his memory became crowded with cobwebs and dust. Faces of the travelers he
guided slowly faded like the photographs in his leather trunk, but occasionally wander back to
him in dreams. His elderly face, a tan leather after years of the scorching Southwest sun looking

Anyone who knows Sandy can describe him to you in two words: kind and witty. An instance of
this, one he often accidently repeats to his grandchildren, is when he found Georgia O Keeffe

Other friendships were kindled because of Sandy s humorous personality, such as his relationships

not going to die, it is still functioning with the existence in the spirit world. They say that while

Action Research Literature Review
Executive Summary
Action Research believes that Human organizations can only be understood as whole entities
(Baskerville, 1999) and that social processes are best to be studied when change is introduced to
observe the effects of these. Furthermore, It makes use of a cyclical approach in order for an initial
holistic understanding of a social setting. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of positivism. It is believed that this type of research is derived from a different
ontological basis; it tends to a humanistic social practice rather than a traditional natural science.

Positivism is a research philosophy that involves working with the observable social reality. The
emphasis is on highly structured methodology to facilitate replication, and the end product can be
law like generalisations similar to those produced by the physical and natural scientists (Saunders,

the observer remains independent. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of В‘positivist research (Waterman et al, 2001; Hart, 1996; Susman and Evered, 1978).
These can be summarised as follows:
В§The impossibility of achieving the assumption of objectivity in research findings and outcomes
as well as the ability to control a limited number of research variables.
В§A critique of the notion of researchers attaining a detached/value free/neutral position and a
recognition of the existence of oppressive ideologies and vested interests;

under heat stressed conditions. Summarizing the study, they selected 12 Murrah buffalo that had
previously calved 2 or 3 before and were in early, 50 70 days, lactation during the study. The trial
took place for a span of 60 days, 30 during the May June months and the other 30 in the August

while the other 6 were allowed to wallow in a water pond from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M (Group 2). They
collected blood samples from both groups on 3 day intervals for both trial time periods, specifically
testing for plasma thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), cortisol, and insulinhormones. During the
study the buffalo had ad lib water and access to green maze fodder. They wanted to also see how

The New Method Of The Creation Of Savior
Critics argue that permitting the creation of savior siblings through PGD is the first step down a
slippery slope that ends with frivolous reasons for selecting an embryo over another. The
procedure would open the door for parents to decide on specific characteristics of their babies.
This is the creation of fully fledged designer babies . As in the words of Josephine Quintavalle ,
the new technique is a dangerous first step towards allowing parents to use embryo testing to
choose other characteristics of the baby, such as eye color and sex . For this reason, the creation
of savior sibling is ethically impermissible since if one supports savior sibling, it is impossible to
not support the permissibility of designer babies. This argument... Show more content on

Therefore, there is no reason why there cannot be a special process that allows selection for a
certain purpose and not others. It is distinctly different selecting for a specific HLA match to
save the life of a dying child and selecting for the color of a baby s eyes. One ought to accept that
savior siblings and other designer babies are morally different, and therefore, one can support
the idea of a savior sibling while rejecting the concept of a designer baby. In the case of the
former, the prima facie case saving a life, as concluded by Sheldon and Wilkinson, for permitting
savior siblings selection is much stronger than permitting designer babies because there is an
important reason for the first but not for the second (535). The value of a person s life is of
much greater value the color of another s eyes or hair or their height and weight. Therefore, the
cases ought to be viewed differently, even if there is a slope there is no reason to believe that
there will be a slide and there are important differences between savior siblings and designer babies
which the slippery slope argument overlooks (Sheldon and Wilkinson 535). At the same time, one
cannot be naГЇve and fail to think that there are real issues that are morally questionable lurking
with the possibility of allowing savior siblings. In the following section, I will look at the question
of what

Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues, And The Good Life
In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert
Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views
the Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values.
However, Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethicsdon t mix; and game strategy in
business leads to success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics
and his claim.
Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for
his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the
virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement
(phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an
individual find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo
Hobbesian s every man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal
agenda needs each other to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the
level of happiness or eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have
higher salaries, so he tells them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70).

Caribbean, business

The House Of Mirth And Invisible Man
The House of Mirth and Invisible Man
Social invisibility, differences in male vs. female perceptions of event.
While both the Invisible Man and The House of Mirth were written near the same time frame, they
were written in differing perspectives, reflecting not only social classes but also gender roles of the
time period. At the time these books were written, men and women had very different roles in
society. Women were in the midst of a long arduous battle of the women suffrage movement and
as they gained ground in this fight the gender roles started to change along with the country:
Westward expansion also demanded that many women step outside prescribed gender roles and
perform men s work on the frontier (Jolliffe 1). Men, on the other hand, had a battle of their own
trying to defend their masculinity during the movement of women into new social ranks,
masculinity in the United States is certain only in its uncertainty; its stability and sense of well
being depend on a frantic drive to control its environment. (Stryffeler 4) The struggles of this
dynamic time period are expressed through the eyes of these two authors giving readers an idea of
how women were viewed differently from men surrounding the gender and social issues that
dominated history.
This time period had specifically defined roles for men and women, and the author of The House
of Mirth has reversed these accepted norms while The Invisible Man remains true to the roles of
men. In The House of

Describe the types of dementia and common signs and symptoms
Unit 40 P1 Describe the types of dementia and common signs and symptoms The term dementia
describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes and problems with
communication and reasoning. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain
conditions and diseases, including Alzheimer s disease, vascular dementia and Creutzfeldt Jakob
disease.
Age is the greatest risk factor for dementia. Dementia affects one in 14 people over
the age of 65 and one in six over the age of 80. However, dementia is not restricted to older
people: in the UK, there are over 17,000 people under the age of 65 with dementia, although this
figure is likely to be an underestimate. Alzheimer s Disease Alzheimer s disease... Show more

The difference between these types depends on what has caused the damage in the brain and which
part of the brain has been damaged.
Common signs and symptoms of vascular dementia may
include: Problems with speed of thinking, concentration and communication. Depression and
anxiety accompanying the dementia. Symptoms of a stroke, such as physical weakness or
paralysis. Seizures. Periods of severe confusion. Visual mistakes and misperceptions (for example,
seeing a rug as a pond). Changes in behaviour (for example, restlessness). Difficulties with
walking and unsteadiness. Hallucinations and delusions. Problems with continence. Psychological
symptoms such as becoming more obsessive. Dementia with Lewy Bodies Dementia with Lewy
bodies (DLB) is a form of dementia which shares characteristics with both Alzheimer s and
Parkinson s disease. It accounts for around 10% of all cases of dementia in older people and tends
to be under diagnosed.
Named after the doctor who first identified them in 1912, Lewy bodies
are tiny, spherical protein deposits found in nerve cells. Their presence in the brain disrupts the
brain s normal functioning, interrupting the action of important chemical messengers. Lewy bodies
are also found in the brains of people with Parkinson s disease, a progressive neurological disease
that affects movement.

  • 2. The City Harmonic Essay The City Harmonic: The band uniting the Church through music By Jessica Morris The City Harmonic is not your average church worship band. For one, the four members based in Hamilton, Ontario attend different churches. This then, is why their commitment to expressing unity and crossing denominational boundaries is so prominent on their album WE ARE. We ve always felt like we re a little bit different than the typical model of a worship band and have always sensed that our roots in a cross denominational movement of church unity has shaped us in very profound ways. The American Spectator Analysis This paper will discuss how the opinions expressed in two publications, The American Prospect and The American Spectator, affects the articles they publish (The American Prospect, 2016A; The American Spectator, 2016A). Both magazines produced pieces on the Affordable Care Act but offer drastically different viewpoints to their readers regarding the same topic. A viewpoint, which can be defined as a way of thinking and speaking about a specific topic, is expressed in an article per how the author determines, based on opinion or selected facts (Mayfield, 2014, p.201 202). Opinions are formed from how an individual perceives a situation, are affected by emotions, and if not backed with facts, can lead to misleading information (Mayfield, 2014,... One example is when the writer states that the program had numerous issues with low enrollment numbers during the initial launch, but how the Affordable Care Act now covers millions of people (Hacker, 2016). The article likens the Affordable Care Act to other government programs, like Social Security and Medicare, and how there have been multiple reforms within these programs, too (Hacker, 2016). The article s viewpoint is that the Affordable Care Act will need reform to make it work, but that change will make it successful (Hacker, 2016). At the same time, the article links that success to a Democratic president winning the nomination, as a Republican president will cause it to fail, according to the magazine (Hacker, 2016). Based on the information obtained in the study, results for the first research question revealed that when students viewed the physical education learning environment as one that is task or mastery oriented the student in turn viewed participating in physical educationpositively. Results also revealed that there was a connection with student insight of the learning climate and attitudes of the student as opposed to self determination. Results for the second question revealed that associations with attitude, self determination, and learning climate during the 24 hour pedometer count were not strong. Results from the third research question confirmed results from previous research, that physical activity levels and student motivationdecreases after grade six. Results from the pedometer count further confirmed the theory that physical activity declines in grade six. Further studies concluded that gender plays a role in physical activity levels. According to the pedometer counts, boys achieved a greater amount of steps than girls, thus confirming that boys reach a higher level of physical activity than their opposite counterparts. The authors acknowledged that the findings reported with gender levels were consistent with other research conducted in this area. There are so many are so many questions about gladiators that go unanswered, but now, thanks to archaeologists, we are able to answer those questions. Evidence shows that being a gladiators had both advantages and disadvantages. A gladiatoris an armed fighter who entertained audiences in the Roman Empireby fighting against other gladiators, wild animals, and criminals. In late 1st century, Nicolaus of Damascus believed they were Etruscans. A generation later, the 1st gladiatorial ceremonies were held in 310 BC. It was held by the Campanians in celebration of their over the Samnites. The Romans were greatly influenced by their predecessors the Etruscans. For example, the Etruscans always sacrificed an animal before their ceremonies, so the Romans started doing the same. Gladiators were usually slaves or criminals, but could also be free men. Professionals gladiators were usually free men, but they were all treated as slaves. Free men still wore shackles and had to do whatever they were told. Although they were treated as slaves, free men would often be the most popular amongst the crowd. Criminals and slaves would be set free if they survived 3 5 years as a gladiator. More than 100 gladiator schools were built throughout the Roman Empire. Gladiators were sent to school depending on if they were a criminal or not. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Why I Believe In The Pickle Theory I believe in the pickle theory. You may think I am going to talk about how the pickling process relates to some other far off ideal, or how the number of seeds vary in every pickle and each represents something else. But you d be wrong. My pickle theory has to do with tradition. Every christmas my dad hides a pickle, a pepper, and a pea pod ornament. My two sisters and I then all go searching for one of these three things. Whoever finds the pickle gets first pick, pepper gets second, pea pod third. My dad then holds out three envelopes to choose from. Each envelope contains a different amount of money, ranging from smaller to larger amounts. The catch is, you don t know which envelope has which amount of money. This is where the pickle theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second lesson I have learned from the pickle theory is that it winning isn t everything. Now this may sound exactly like the first one, but I promise this is different. The thing with winning in this sense is that you may get first place, but that doesn t necessarily mean you get first prize. Often times when you win something you end up with a hollow victory, or a feeling that even though you won, you some how lost. Although that is a much deeper subject in the same realm of my own, it still kind of describes the feeling when you realized to lost. Big time. The things I have learned simply from a pickle amaze me. I have changed the way I act in everyday life and I have changed the way I react in situations. For example. If I were playing a game of monopoly, I wouldn t worry about rolling the biggest number first. This is because getting the first move in the game has no advantage to how the out come of the game will turn out. That person may lose first, win first, or they may end up stuck in jail for most on the game. Instead, I would pay attention to what is going on ahead of me. My choices will decide my fate in the game, and all you can do is pay attention to what is happening and do whatever you think is best. Now that I think about it, the pickle theory creates an existential sort of belief. It is not the luck of finding the pickle and choosing first, it s your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This Southern church is enthusiastic, spontaneous, fundamentalist, and supernatural oriented. Several other reasons press the shift to the South. Among these, first, Western nations have largely developed an egregious attachment to tolerance and materialism. Second, simple population growth is slower in the West than developing nations. This does not imply that other major religions are not growing in the South also, the point is: Christianity is growing at an incredible rate in the Southern hemisphere and in China and impacts the global look of Christianity.[9] If such trends continue, Jenkins claims Christianity will inevitably become increasingly Southern in style, culture, philosophy, and academics. So the questions remain: what will Christianity look like when it is no longer culturally European or Western? Will it still be Christianity in its core? As the church population explodes in developing nations and becomes more indigenous to those cultures, will there be a conflict of orthodoxy and heresy like in the early church? Will the church become increasingly poor, libertarian, or spiritual? [10] In the second half of the book, Jenkins responds to these questions. In Chapter eight, Jenkins explores the turbulent possibility for horrific violence, war and terrorism along religious lines that might accompany the rise of Southern Christianity which is already happening and about which the western public is largely uninformed. • 9. Gender Roles In Gender Socialization Girls and boys both grow up being socialized on what is normal and unusual for their gender. At a young age they are given the idea of what is expected of them based on whether they are male or female. Toys are a prominent factor in this socialization, because they are typically presented for one gender and are unacceptable for the other. To assess how toys playa role in gender socialization, I made a trip to Toys R Us in College Station and surprisingly found that the gender beliefs have changed quite a bit since I was a child in the late 90s to early 2000s. The first thing that went through my mind when walking into the store was to look for the Girls and Boys signs that would indicate to me which section was for which gender. There weren t any signs though! Toys R Us had their aisles organized by categories such as arts crafts, travel systems, learning education, bikes wheels, sports, and fun. In order to determine what aisle may be targeted to one gender, I looked at what types of toys were in the aisles and what were the dominant colors in each aisle. The aisles I assumed to be for girls were filled with lots of pink while boyaisles had darker colors such as blue, green, orange, and dark purple. The majority of girltoys were composed of beauty sets, dress up, and dolls whereas boy toys were super heroes, Legos, tools, and vehicles. There wasn t a huge selection in gender neutral toys, but the ones offered were more on the educational side. Most of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The s Metamorphosis One major difference Apuleius makes in his depiction of Psyche is that he places a premise in her original encounter with Cupid she is not allowed to know his identity nor to see his face. The sequence of Psyche s acquaintance with her lover, in fact, plays quite an important role in the story. People often say that, To see is to believe. However, it is not always the case. Under the circumstance of love, what one sees will be highly deceptive, as it is human nature that one will prefer individuals with charming faces or distinguished reputations and thus more easily fall victim to his/her biased judgement. Without the intervention of illusive perception, Psyche senses the concern from her husband more distinctly by heart, and consequently enforces their association in later time. (outwardly attractive) Some might argue that even though Psyche might take advantages of learning about the true characteristics of her husband by her mind and soul instead of her eyes, the fact that she can neither perceive Cupid s appearance nor get information about his life span still violates their relationship; Otherwise, Psyche will never try to ascertain Cupid s identity. Nevertheless, to grasp the real essence does not imply that Psyche should never have knowledge of Cupid; instead, to know a person in a comprehensive way, both the interior nature and the exterior features are crucial. The thing that matters is the chronology of the cognitive process. Governor s and citizens actions were quite violent, but they did not want to use the term genocide , it was often replaced with the word extirpation . Unferth and his bitterness towards Beowulf really made a lasting impression in this book. Unferth did not play a huge role, but while he was mentioned, he showed his true, vile, colors. His part in the reading was mainly to talk about the battle between Brecca and Beowulf, but he talked about it with such a boorish attitude, that it gave him a bad reputation. Warleggen s waiver distinguishes itself from the waiver in Roberts in that Warleggen s waiver includes activity leading up to spelunking and cave tours, like the car or van travel to and from the site , while also including the phrase ordinary negligence directly in the types of risks that are included in spelunking. In Roberts, it was unclear to the court if the waiver covered activities before and after entering the hot air balloon. Unlike in Brooten, Warleggen s waiver does not followed the term negligence with OR ANY OTHER CAUSE. Warleggen s decision to omit that phrase precludes the possibility for an overly broad interpretation, like construing the waiver to release incidents involving recklessness and intentional conduct. If the waiver was overly broad and extended beyond ordinary negligence, the clause would be invalid under public policy. The waiver also includes ... In Sandra Cisnero s short story Barbie Q, a Barbie doll is used to portray the author s inner struggle to achieve perfection, and how her young age and innocence clouds her identity. Throughout the text it is very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged family and faced the issues many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In the short storyit is also evident that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem and confidence, as both the media and the author s social background have continuously portrayed women as weak, powerless figures. Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the protagonist, once again a female figure represented the life of domesticity a womanis expected to hold by society. The book focuses on showcasing the nearly impossible obstacles he had to overcome in order to carry out the duties as a man and as President of the United States. • 31. The Influence Of The Roman Colosseum Roman architecture has influenced our modern day society in many ways. One of the ways is by the construction of the Roman Colosseum in 72 A.D. The Roman Colosseum was the first major stadium or amphitheater to ever be built. Without the planning, construction, and techniques used for Roman Colosseum, we would not have some of the famous stadiums and amphitheaters that exist today. The Yankee Stadium and Staples Center are both examples of stadiums that were well influenced by the Roman Colosseum. Many similar techniques were used to build the Colosseum, and were also used in the making of these two stadiums. An example of a technique that was used during the building of the Colosseum is the architectural design of the arches that are in the Great Hall of the Yankee Stadium. They were built from a series of stone blocks that were placed in a certain way to hold them together in the shape of an arch. Another example of important idea that the Romans developed, and used often was organized labor. Organized labor was useful because it was a way of sorting all the workers and their skills into the appropriate and corresponding jobs. It also provided a working system including receiving breaks, lunches and some set work hours along with medical care for when it was needed. The trial took place for a span of 60 days, 30 during the May June months and the other 30 in the August September months. 6 buffalo were placed under constantly running water showers (Group 1), while the other 6 were allowed to wallow in a water pond from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M (Group 2). They collected blood samples from both groups on 3 day intervals for both trial time periods, specifically testing for plasma thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), cortisol, and insulinhormones. During the study the buffalo had ad lib water and access to green maze fodder. • 43. The New Method Of The Creation Of Savior Critics argue that permitting the creation of savior siblings through PGD is the first step down a slippery slope that ends with frivolous reasons for selecting an embryo over another. The procedure would open the door for parents to decide on specific characteristics of their babies. This is the creation of fully fledged designer babies . As in the words of Josephine Quintavalle , the new technique is a dangerous first step towards allowing parents to use embryo testing to choose other characteristics of the baby, such as eye color and sex . For this reason, the creation of savior sibling is ethically impermissible since if one supports savior sibling, it is impossible to not support the permissibility of designer babies. This argument... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, there is no reason why there cannot be a special process that allows selection for a certain purpose and not others. It is distinctly different selecting for a specific HLA match to save the life of a dying child and selecting for the color of a baby s eyes. One ought to accept that savior siblings and other designer babies are morally different, and therefore, one can support the idea of a savior sibling while rejecting the concept of a designer baby. In the case of the former, the prima facie case saving a life, as concluded by Sheldon and Wilkinson, for permitting savior siblings selection is much stronger than permitting designer babies because there is an important reason for the first but not for the second (535). The value of a person s life is of much greater value the color of another s eyes or hair or their height and weight. Therefore, the cases ought to be viewed differently, even if there is a slope there is no reason to believe that there will be a slide and there are important differences between savior siblings and designer babies which the slippery slope argument overlooks (Sheldon and Wilkinson 535). At the same time, one cannot be naГЇve and fail to think that there are real issues that are morally questionable lurking with the possibility of allowing savior siblings. In the following section, I will look at the question of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues, And The Good Life In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views the Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values. However, Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethicsdon t mix; and game strategy in business leads to success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics and his claim. Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement (phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an individual find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo Hobbesian s every man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal agenda needs each other to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the level of happiness or eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have higher salaries, so he tells them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70). • 45. The House Of Mirth And Invisible Man The House of Mirth and Invisible Man Social invisibility, differences in male vs. female perceptions of event. While both the Invisible Man and The House of Mirth were written near the same time frame, they were written in differing perspectives, reflecting not only social classes but also gender roles of the time period. At the time these books were written, men and women had very different roles in society. Women were in the midst of a long arduous battle of the women suffrage movement and as they gained ground in this fight the gender roles started to change along with the country: Westward expansion also demanded that many women step outside prescribed gender roles and perform men s work on the frontier (Jolliffe 1). Men, on the other hand, had a battle of their own trying to defend their masculinity during the movement of women into new social ranks, masculinity in the United States is certain only in its uncertainty; its stability and sense of well being depend on a frantic drive to control its environment. (Stryffeler 4) The struggles of this dynamic time period are expressed through the eyes of these two authors giving readers an idea of how women were viewed differently from men surrounding the gender and social issues that dominated history. This time period had specifically defined roles for men and women, and the author of The House of Mirth has reversed these accepted norms while The Invisible Man remains true to the roles of men. • 46. Describe the types of dementia and common signs and symptoms Unit 40 P1 Describe the types of dementia and common signs and symptoms The term dementia describes a set of symptoms which can include loss of memory, mood changes and problems with communication and reasoning. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain conditions and diseases, including Alzheimer s disease, vascular dementia and Creutzfeldt Jakob disease.
Age is the greatest risk factor for dementia. Dementia affects one in 14 people over the age of 65 and one in six over the age of 80. However, dementia is not restricted to older people: in the UK, there are over 17,000 people under the age of 65 with dementia, although this figure is likely to be an underestimate. Alzheimer s Disease Alzheimer s disease... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between these types depends on what has caused the damage in the brain and which part of the brain has been damaged.
Common signs and symptoms of vascular dementia may include: Problems with speed of thinking, concentration and communication. Depression and anxiety accompanying the dementia. Symptoms of a stroke, such as physical weakness or paralysis. Seizures. Periods of severe confusion. Visual mistakes and misperceptions (for example, seeing a rug as a pond). Changes in behaviour (for example, restlessness). Difficulties with walking and unsteadiness. Hallucinations and delusions. Problems with continence. Psychological symptoms such as becoming more obsessive. Dementia with Lewy Bodies Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a form of dementia which shares characteristics with both Alzheimer s and Parkinson s disease. It accounts for around 10% of all cases of dementia in older people and tends to be under diagnosed.
Named after the doctor who first identified them in 1912, Lewy bodies are tiny, spherical protein deposits found in nerve cells. Their presence in the brain disrupts the brain s normal functioning, interrupting the action of important chemical messengers. Lewy bodies are also found in the brains of people with Parkinson s disease, a progressive neurological disease that affects movement.
