The document discusses how the author used synergy to effectively link their main media product (a music video) with their two ancillary texts (a digipak and magazine advert). All three products promote the same song and band. They maintain an autumn theme throughout to create cohesion. Still images from the music video are featured on the digipak and magazine advert to further link the products. This synergy makes each individual product more successful by having them promote one another.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Media Evaluation Question 2
1. How Effective is the
combination of your main
and ancillary texts?
By Moises Guilherme
2. My main text is my music video and my ancillary texts include a
digipak and magazine advert to promote the song and artist. All
three media products are linked together through the use of
synergy.
Media Products
3. What is Synergy you ask?
Synergy is the interaction or cooperation of two or more
organisations, substances, or other agents to produce a
combined effect greater than the sum of their separate
effects.
4. The use of synergy with regards to
my media products is very simple.
My music video is to promote the
chosen song (‘Enough’ - ‘Dinner and
A Suit’) which is featured on the
bands album which is on the digipak
(one of my ancillary products).
Moreover the magazine advert is
used in order to advertise the
release and promotion of the album.
How does this link in with my Media Products?
5. This creates a link between all three pieces of my
media products. Overall i think that the use of synergy
has added to the effectiveness of these products. Each
product has a purpose. However without the use of
synergy none of the products would be as successful as
they would not promote each other.
How does this link in with my Media Products?
6. All three of my media products
link with each other in one way or
another. Whilst I was working on
them I have a clear vision in
which I wanted to pursue. My
group and I came to a conclusion
to use still images from within the
music video itself to create our
Digipak and Magazine Advert to
promote the artist and song.
How does this link in with my Media Products?
7. One of my group members Lydia made me aware of
the importance of synergy and that without the
use of the magazine advert in popular music
magazine such as NME and Kerrang, the digipak
would not sell if it was not present in popular
magazines. This would mean the band would get
less publicity and as a result would not be very
well known and there is the possibility that the
music video itself would not get many views.
How does this link in with my Media Products?
8. Throughout the product of our main media product and
our ancillary texts, we wanted to maintain a theme of
Autumn. We felt that this would be a perfect theme for
our music video and would add to the atmosphere of
the video as it was autumn during our filming time.
Music Video, Digipak and Magazine Advert
9. Music Video, Digipak and Magazine Advert
When filming we found that we would
be able to easily incorporate this
theme due to the amazing scenery on
location where we film. In our music
video there are various shots which
include the bright orange and yellow
leaves in the background indicating to
the audience the season in which the
music video itself was filmed. The
leaves in the background of the shots
are picked up on by the audiences due
to the digipak and magazine advert.
10. Digipak
The most obvious similarity between the music
video, digipak and magazine cover are that
they all present the main singer of the band,
and therefore audiences can easily recognise
that all three products are connected and are
by the same artist.
In the digipak there is also a lyric booklet with
white text printed on it surrounded by a
yellow leaf. This again emphasises the
autumnal theme. I believe that having the
autumnal theme in my ancillary text exposes
the theme of autumn more and creating a
strong link between the different pieces of
works in within my media productions.
11. Magazine Advert
For the background of our magazine advert as
a group we deliberately chose to use a pile of
fallen leaves. This is because it emphasises
the theme of autumn and audiences are then
able to pick up on this. We use the leaves as a
subtle motif to remind the audience of the
video.
12. From this I have concluded that each product
needs each other in order to be successful
raising awareness of the other products. I
believe that my group and I have created a
successful link between all three of our
media texts. However from our audience
feedback, we found that in order to make our
main media text and ancillary pieces even
more cohesive, we should've used the same
typography in our video music credits opening
sequence and the digipak and magazine
advert should have some form or
cohesiveness.
As a result!
