1. 3. What kind of media institution
might distribute your product?
2. Initially there were 2 media institutions that I
looked into: Time inc and Bauer publishing. With
Time inc being the publishers of NME they seemed
like a good enough choice however I ultimately
decided Bauer would be the better choice with
them already publishing 2 very different music
magazines (Kerrang and Q) they clearly know how
to appeal to a specific audience plus they have a
large advertising force.
3. Ultimately there is not all that big of a gap with my
magazine being considerably similar to Kerrang
however Kerrang is the only magazine to focus
exclusively on rock so another magazine like it
may be well received as now the audience would
have more of a choice in which magazine they
read with more than one of that genre being
available. Not to mention my magazine also
focuses on metal which is a genre which sees very
little representation in magazines.
4. The product will be published in 2 ways. Paper and
digital the paper is for those who prefer the more
traditional value of a magazine which many people
do plus with the inclusion of posters many people
will want a printed copy in order to access them.
With technology having moved on so much and us
being in what is known as the digital age it seems
fitting to offer the choice of a digital copy a lot of
people like these as they are easily accessible and can
be read almost anywhere. The printed copies would
be sold in most large stores as well as small privately
owned shops. The digital copies would be sold on the
apple store and on Google play.
5. I partly chose Bauer due to them already dealing
with my target audience in their highly successful
Kerrang magazine however with them also
publishing Q which is an entirely different
audience I believe they can deal well when it
comes to appealing to their audiences.
