1. Q3 What kind of media institution might distribute your
media product and why?
2. I did research on three different media groups; Bauer, IPC
and EMAP.
During this research, I found that EMAP produced more
sophisticated magazines which had nothing to do with
music magazines.
I found out that IPC media focused on gossip magazines,
and so this wouldnt be good as I dont want to focus on the
gossip side of the bands featured in my magazine, I’d
rather focus on the music. Overall, Bauer was the best
choice, as they publish a main music magazine; Kerrang!
Which I used for inspiration for my music magazine.
3. My magazine could be distributed in supermarkets like
Sainsburys or smaller corner shops such as Costcutter
because many people purchase music magazines from such
places. I could offer discount on my magazines to make it
more appealing. I could also distribute it online but this could
cause problems as people would have to print the posters
out.
I could also distribute my magazine at concerts and festivals.
Finally, I could distribute my magazine in a busy shopping
centre. NME gives them out for free outside HMV. However,
this might make my magazine appear cheap so not the best
idea.
