dominant share in distribution.

3. Is a major distributor of print, distributing publications such as
NME.TimeWarner are the parent company of IPC Media who
have a subsidiary with Warner Bros.Therefore due to the
sheer size ofWarner Bros there are countless opportunities to
find a path into the music industry.They provide essential
links to the music business and manage some of the biggest
artists in the music industry, in addition hold the vital trait of
gaining exclusive information.
If my magazine was to be published by IPC there would be a
clear link with Warner Bros Records which would create
several opportunities about how my media product would be
distributed. However due to IPC andWarner Bros being
existing companies on a global scale they would look to sign
more famous artists who essentially are just narrow minded in
the Pop genre.Therefore this would not conform to my
magazine's genre of Indie Pop and I wouldn't be able to take
advantage of the global links at my disposal. Even though
they do feature some Indie artists such as ‘Atlas Genius’ and
‘Foals’ I am unsure whether it fits into the niche market
audience that is created by ‘Aspire’ as the company is majorly
overridden by a mass target audience.
4. Is another very important print distribution company in which it
is a large European-based media company headquarted in
Hamburg,Germany. It is a company that notably manages a
portfolio of more than 600 magazines including the distribution
of both Q and Kerrang. In a particular comparison Q is a similar
to magazine to my product and is distributed successfully at
Bauer, this suggests that my magazine would enjoy the same
success and would be globalised and put under the spotlight in
that same way that Q has. In relation to IPC Media andWarner
Co. It is at a disadvantage on a global scale due to the fact it does
not have any parent companies and therefore does not hold as
many direct links to record labels etc. However, it is clear that the
company prioritises magazines over digital products,TV and
radio which means that If my music magazine ‘Aspire’ was to be
distributed by the Bauer Media Group it would receive a lot more
focus than it would at IPC media who venture into more media
products and different genres.
Therefore I believe there would be a good relationship between
my magazine and the Bauer Media Group if it were to be
distributed by it due to the consistency it has regarding music
magazines. I am in agreement that under Bauer my magazine
would be distributed in the right way that reflects my purpose
and ethos of Indie Pop.
