The document describes a typical day in the life of a 16-25 year old, including waking up late for college, listening to music on the commute, spending time in class, arriving home to play Xbox and eat junk food, making minimal attempts at studying, showering if they can be bothered, playing more Xbox, listening to music, and falling asleep late. It acknowledges that this lifestyle represents stereotypes commonly associated with teenagers, such as laziness, wearing hoodies, eating junk food, and disrespectfulness. The document discusses how media like TV shows reinforce these stereotypes of teenagers being aggressive, rude, violent, using drugs and alcohol, lustful, lazy, using bad language, and messy.
1. With my target audience being both males and females at the age of 16-25 in
with me being in the age rangeof that particular social group I decided to
make a log of an averageday of my life which reflects in some way that of
someone in this age range.

well as a black hoodie.

I representa number of stereotypicalconceptions in someways which include
Laziness
‘hoodies’
Eating junk food
Disrespectfulness
The social group of teens are seen often as being bad in multiple ways which
and attribute a lot of stereotypes that include things such as:
Aggressive
Rude
Violent
Drug use
Alcohol abuse
Lustfulness
Laziness
Bad language
Messiness
While these stereotypes can sometimes be true they arenever completely true
but they are constantly reinforced by TV
The infamous London riots were started by people of the adolescent age
group over the social network Blackberry messenger.
The television show ‘Theinbetweeners’ depicts a group of misfit teens
swearing at people for no reason, making offensivegestures towards the
elderly, trying cannabis, making constant explicit sex jokes and
vandalising gardens.
‘Skins’ depicts teens going to parties to get drunk and have sex
‘Misfits’ depict a group of young law breakers doing community service.
When looking at my magazine I have ultimately adhered to the stereotypes in
some ways with many of my artists listed in the contents having names and
3. song titles that connote aggressiveness and violence. My main artist is also
revealed to be messy and offensivein his interview and I use taboo language in
multiple places. The main artist is also a former drug user but he is revealed to
be recovering as I ultimately don’twant him to appear to be encouraging drug
use. I kept to someof these stereotypes as I believe it will speak to the
audience of this age as it does in shows such as the inbetweeners and skins.
