Meat quality, carcass and organ characteristic of arbo acre breed of broiler chicken fed diets containing moringa, fluted pumpkin and African spinach meals and their composites as replacement for 50% synthetic methionine in diets were examined using a completely randomized experimental design involving two hundred and forty (240) chicks. Which were randomly distributed into eight dietary treatments of three replicates per treatment and ten birds per replicate. This study lasted for six weeks. At the end of the experiment, three (3) birds per replicate were randomly selected and slaughtered. The carcass and the organs characteristic were measured and thigh, breast and drumstick were separated for meat quality analysis. The carcass characteristic were all significantly (P≥0.05) differ with moringa having the highest. The organ characteristic shows that there were no significant (p≤0.05) difference in all the parameters except for the belly fat. The meat quality (P≤0.05) affected. There was improvement in thaw loss, tenderness, juiciness and overall acceptability of the meats with the inclusion of the leaf mills. The composite leaf meal inclusion gave the overall best result. It was concluded that the selected leaf meals and their composite could be used to replacement 50% synthetic methionine in poultry diet.
Performance Characteristics and Carcass Yield of Indigenous Turkeys Fed Indom...iosrjce
This study evaluated the performance of turkey poults fed indomie waste (IW) based-diet. A total of
one hundred and forty-four (144) local strain of turkey poults were allotted to four dietary treatments in which
indomie waste was used to replace maize at 0%, 33.33%, 66.67%, and 100% levels, representing treatments one
to four (T1- T4) respectively. Each treatment was replicated three times with 12 poults per replicate using the
Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The study lasted for eight weeks. The initial weights of the poults were
taken while the final weight record was taken at the end of the study. The feed intake record was taken daily and
computed as total feed consumed per bird at the end of the study while weight gain, feed conversion ratio and
feed cost were calculated. Three birds were randomly selected from each replicate for carcass and organ
evaluation and were expressed as percentages of the body weight. The result showed that the IW significantly
(p< 0.05) affected the average weight gain and improved feed conversion ratio. The cost of feed per kg
decreased with increasing levels of IW in the diet. Significant differences were not observed in the carcass and
organ except in the breast yield. The lowest cost of feed was obtained at 100% inclusion level. The reduction in
feed cost is an advantage to the farmer who desires low cost of production. It was evident that IW could be
incorporated into the diet of local strain of turkey poults up to 100% level without any deleterious effect on the
performance of the turkeys, however, the 66.67% replacement which led to higher final body weight and better
feed conversion is recommended.
Egg quality characteristics of pullet chickens fed Neem (AzdirachtaIndica) le...IJEAB
A study was carried out with 180 dominant black strain pullet birds to evaluate the effect of neem and housing types on egg quality characteristics of pullets at point of lay. The birds were randomly assigned to two housing types (deep litter with run and deep litter housing) of 6 treatment groups comprising of 30 birds and 3 replicates of 10 birds each. The experiment was arranged in a 2 x 3 factorial layout in a completely randomized design. Diets containing neem leaf meal (NLM) at 0, 0.5 and 1.0% was administered to birds. Data were collected egg external and internal characteristic at point of lay. Highest egg weight (45.53 g) was obtained in birds fed 0.5% NLM. Bright yellow yolks were obtained from birds managed on deep litter housing with run. It was concluded that up to 1.0% NLM could be included in the diets of laying pullets to trigger early egg production and improve egg yolk colour.
A study was carried out to evaluate the nutritive value and enzyme supplementation of different sources of energy in broiler diets on the growth performance and heamatological parameters of broiler chickens supplemented with Mazigrain® enzyme within the treated groups. Five isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets less (23.17 % CP; 2831 Kcal/ME and 21.73 % CP; 2929 Kcal/ME) for the broiler starter (0 - a month) and finisher phases (5–8 months) respectively were formulated. Diet 1(maize based diet) served in as the control while diets 2, 3, 4 and 5 were supplemented with sorghum, pearl millet, cassava and sweet potatoes based diets separately. A sum of 225 day-old NAPRI X broiler chicks were haphazardly distributed to the five treatments. Every treatment comprised of 45 broilers with three repeats of fifteen birds each in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The general linear model protocol of S.A.S. 9.0. was used to analyze the collected data. Among the dietary groups significant changes (P<0.05) was found utilizing a Tukey test. Enzyme along with various energy sources have noteworthy (P<0.05) changes on every one of the parameters (final weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, water intake, water to feed ratio and feed cost per kilogram weight gain) except for death rate at the starter phase. Broilers that had sorghum based diet had the best performance at starter stage (final weight; 627 g, weight gain; 576.85 g, feed cost/kg gain; ^ 187.95 k). At the finisher stage, sorghum supplemented with enzyme had the best feed conversion ratio (1.96) and feed cost/kg gain; ^ 171.15 k. The optimal performance characteristics were recorded for sorghum based diets. Feed cost / kg gain was the cheapest on birds fed sorghum based diet with enzyme supplementation which was comparable with those fed the maize based diet. However, the use of enzyme enhanced the performance of birds at both the starter and finisher phases.
Assessment of the broilers performance, gut healthiness and carcass character...Agriculture Journal IJOEAR
Abstract—The objectives of the current study were to evaluate the performance responses, guts healthiness, and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens fed on formulated diets included dried coriander, turmeric and thyme. Unsexed commercially available chicks were enrolled into five experimental treatments each of eighty birds with four replicates per treatment. The birds were housed in deep litter clean pens. The experimental groups were as follow: Control; coriander; thyme; turmeric, and mixed. Two formulated diets (starter & finisher) to which all the dietary additives were added in a dried powdered form and at the level of 0.75% expect for the mixed group as each additive was used at level 0.25%. Performance parameters including weekly body development, body weights gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio were recorded during the 35-d experimental period. Also, representative samples from each replicate were gathered for the detection of carcass traits, consumer acceptability, and the gut morphometric changes. The data revealed that coriander, and turmeric significantly (p<0.05) increased the villus heights and crypt depths as compared to control which is concomitant with the improvement of performance results when incorporated solely in broilers diet at 0.75% level , but consumer acceptability was lowered specifically for the turmeric –fed group.

In the EG2, the AST index was within the normal range - 40.0 U/l. ALT activity was reduced in comparison with the CG in the EG1 by 4.23% - 3.0 U/l, in the EG2 - by 19.72% - 14.0 U/l.
Economics of production and egg quality characteristics of Layer Chickens Fed...AI Publications
The study evaluated the effect of prosopis africana seed coat meal (PASCM) on the economics of production and egg quality characteristics of three hundred (300) Nera brown layer chickens thatwere fed for 39 weeks. The birds were randomly allotted to 5 experimental diets with 3 replications of 20 birds each. The diets were formulated with the inclusion of PASCM at 0, 15, 20, 25 and 30% levels for treatments T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5, respectively and the data collected were subjected to analysis of Variance in a completely randomized design. Results obtained showed that in the economics of egg production, egg/hen/day, egg sales/day (₦) and profit/day (₦) decreased with increased PASCM inclusion in the diets. While most of the egg quality parameters were affected (P < 0.05) by the dietary treatments, except egg weight, egg length, shell thickness and egg shape index. The economics of production and egg quality characteristics showed that 20% PASCM inclusion level resulted in optimum production and hence this level is recommended for adoption.
Assessment of Ginger and Black Pepper as Feed Additives on Growth Performance...Premier Publishers
This study examined the growth and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens fed diets with ginger (Zingiber officinale L) and black pepper (Piper guineense Schum & Thonn) additives. A total of 240 day old unsexed Anak-2000 broiler chicks were allotted to four treatments in a completely randomized design. Treatment 1 was the control with no additive, Treatment 2 had 0.5% ginger powder, Treatment 3 had 0.5% black pepper powder, while Treatment 4 had a mixture of 0.25% ginger and 0.25% black pepper. From the results obtained, the ginger, black pepper and their combination diets were significantly different (p<0.05) in weight gain from the control diet, with the ginger diet recording the highest value of 2299.09g per bird, as against 1821.77g per bird from the control. Average feed intake was highest in the ginger diet with 5130.14g as against the control diet that had the least with 4420.71g. The ginger and combination diets gave better feed conversion ratio of 2.23 and 2.28 respectively, which was also significantly different from the control. Mortality recorded in the control treatment was highest with 5.00% and significantly different from the other treatments. Plucked weight of experimental birds was highest in diet 2 with 2165.53g and least in the control diet with 1710.31g. It can be concluded that the addition of the natural plant additives improved the measured parameters in comparison to the control diet and thus suggest that they hold considerable potential as growth promoting agents in broiler production.
Physiochemical Properties and Meat Quality Parameters of Wild Boar Meat: A Re...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
Wild boar meat has well balanced with nutrients
and comprised with unique sensory attributes and meat
quality parameters, however, limited information and
studies have been performed on nutritional quality and meat
quality parameters. The proximate composition of wild boar
meat, mainly protein and fat contents were ranged at 21.6-
24.11% and 2.27-2.62% respectively. The composition of
fatty acids in wild boar has obtained higher values for
unsaturated fatty acids particularly mono unsaturated fatty
acids; nonetheless, investigation on availability of essential
amino acids was scarce. Wild boar meat was darker colour,
less tender and pH ranged at 5.44-5.71. Further,
sophisticated studies will promote the consumption rate of
wild boar meat among consumers that ultimately provide an
opportunity to industries to enhance their production.

Comparative Effect of Some Proprietary Vitamins and Trace Mineral Mixtures on...iosrjce
The research study was carried out to evaluate the comparative effect of some proprietary
vitamins/trace mineral mixtures on the performance and egg quality of laying hens. Two hundred and fifty- six
fifty weeks old Yaffa strain laying birds were used. The birds were randomly allotted to four premixes fortified
experimental diets; PPGODOMIX, PPOMIX, PPROCHE and PPWRITEX with each diet containing isocaloric
and isoproteinous. Sixty four birds were randomly assigned to each of the dietary treatments. The birds were
further sub- divided into four replicates with sixteen birds per replicate. The four dietary treatments elicited no
significant (P>0.05) influence on the overall performance of birds. Percentage hen day egg production was
equally not significantly (P>0.05) affected by any of the dietary treatments examined. The average daily feed
intake was significantly (P<0.05)><0.05)>0.05) influenced by PPOMIX. Birds fed PPOMIX obtained a significantly (P<0.05) higher
value of egg weight, albumen weight and blood spot which were statistically similar to other experimental
premixes examined. The results generated from this study revealed that premix of similar profile will give
similar result which could be used to improve ration management towards enhanced feed utilization and egg
internal/external quality.
A study was carried out to evaluate the nutritive value and enzyme
supplementation of different sources of energy in broiler diets on the growth
performance and heamatological parameters of broiler chickens supplemented with
Mazigrain® enzyme within the treated groups. Five isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets
less (23.17 % CP; 2831 Kcal/ME and 21.73 % CP; 2929 Kcal/ME) for the broiler starter
(0 - a month) and finisher phases (5–8 months) respectively were formulated. Diet 1
(maize based diet) served in as the control while diets 2, 3, 4 and 5 were
supplemented with sorghum, pearl millet, cassava and sweet potatoes based diets
separately. A sum of 225 day-old NAPRI X broiler chicks were haphazardly distributed
to the five treatments. Every treatment comprised of 45 broilers with three repeats of
fifteen birds each in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The general linear model
protocol of S.A.S. 9.0. was used to analyze the collected data. Among the dietary
groups significant changes (P<0.05) was found utilizing a Tukey test. Enzyme along
with various energy sources have noteworthy (P<0.05) changes on every one of the
parameters (final weight, daily weight gain, feed conversion ratio, water intake, water
to feed ratio and feed cost per kilogram weight gain) except for death rate at the
starter phase. Broilers that had sorghum based diet had the best performance at
starter stage (final weight; 627 g, weight gain; 576.85 g, feed cost/kg gain; ^ 187.95 k).
At the finisher stage, sorghum supplemented with enzyme had the best feed
conversion ratio (1.96) and feed cost/kg gain; ^ 171.15 k. The optimal performance
characteristics were recorded for sorghum based diets. Feed cost / kg gain was the
cheapest on birds fed sorghum based diet with enzyme supplementation which was
comparable with those fed the maize based diet. However, the use of enzyme
enhanced the performance of birds at both the starter and finisher phases.

Carcass, Organ Weights and Histo-morphology of Internal Organs of Sows Fed Fe...Premier Publishers
Fresh cassava peels were subjected to submerged fermentation, sundried for 3-5 days and also subjected to proximate analysis. Fermentation reduced cyanide and improved crude protein. A group of 27 weaner gilts (Largewhite x Duroc), aged 8-9 weeks and weighed 10.61±0.27kg were fed fermented cassava-peels-based-diets. They were allotted to three treatments comprising T1 (control), T2 (fermented CPM) and T3 (fermented CPM + enzyme) in a completely randomized design and fed for 22 weeks. Data on carcass and some visceral organs weights were subjected to analysis of variance and means separated using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Histo-morphology on the organs was conducted. The dressing percentages were 66.53, 60.25 and 64.11% for T1, T2 and T3 respectively whereas the head, heart, lungs and kidney were the weightiest for T1, the stomach/intestine for T2 and the liver and spleen for T3 while the histo-morphology of T1 sows were all normal except for mild architectural deviation in the duodenum and ileum. Histo-morphological changes were observed in the ileum and duodenum of T2 and T3. It is therefore recommended that fermented peels be supplemented with enzyme for improvement in dressing percentage and watch-out for pathological lesions in the visceral organs.
Effects of Cinnamon Powder on Egg Quality: A New Approach using Layer BirdsAI Publications
Attention towards natural growth promoters in poultry has been on the increase in different parts of the world. However, most studies focus on broiler birds and quail. This study analyzed how cinnamon powder supplemented in the diet of Lohmann Brown layer birds can improve egg quality. This study consisted of 5 treatments of 30 birds per treatment, comprising fifteen replicates of 2 birds per replicates. The treatments included: T1: Control without Cinnamon; T2: 4 litres of water + 0.1g of cinnamon; T3: 4 litres of water + 0.2g of cinnamon; T4: 4 litres of water + 0.3g of cinnamon; T5: 4 litres of water + 0.4g of cinnamon. Parameters measured were egg weight, egg mass, egg breadth, egg length, albumen height, albumen weight, yolk height, yolk length, yolk colour, yolk weight, shell weight, and shell thickness. The results revealed an increase in the albumen weight, yolk weight, albumen height, and yolk height as the inclusion levels of cinnamon powder increase. The Statutory Interpretation of Renewable Energy Based on Syllogism of Britis...AI Publications
The current production for energy consumption generates harmful impacts of carbon dioxide to the environment causing instability to sustainable development goals. The constitutional reforms of British Government serve to be an important means of resolving any encountered incompatibilities to political environment. This study aims to evaluate green economy using developed equation for renewable energy towards political polarization of corporate governance. The Kano Model Assessment is used to measure the equivalency of 1970 Patents Act to UK Intellectual Property tabulating the criteria for the fulfillment of sustainable development goals in respect to the environment, artificial intelligence, and dynamic dichotomy of administrative agencies and presidential restriction, as statutory interpretation development to renewable energy. The constitutional forms of British government satisfy the sustainable development goals needed to fight climate change, advocate healthy ecosystem, promote leadership of magnates, and delegate responsibilities towards green economy. The presidential partisanship must be observed to delineate parties of concerns and execute the government prescriptions in equivalence to the dichotomous relationship of technology and the environment in fulfilling the rights and privileges of all citizens. Hence, the political elites can execute corporate governance towards sustainable development of renewable energy promoting environmental parks and zero emission target of carbon dioxide discharges. The economic theory developed in statutory interpretation for renewable energy serves as a tool to reduce detrimental impacts of carbon dioxide to the environment, mitigate climate change, and produce artefacts of bioenergy and artificial intelligence promoting sustainable development. It is suggested to explore other vulnerabilities of artificial intelligence to prosper economic success.

Analysis of Value Chain of Cow Milk: The Case of Itang Special Woreda, Gambel...AI Publications
Ethiopia has a long and rich history of dairy farming, which was mostly carried out by small and marginal farmers who raised cattle, camels, goats, and sheep, among other species, for milk. Finding the Itang Special Woreda cow milk value chain is the study's main goal. In order to gather primary data, 204 smallholder dairy farmer households were randomly selected, and the market concentration ratio was calculated using 20 traders. Descriptive statistics, econometric models, and rank analysis were used to achieve the above specified goals. Out of all the participants in the milk value chain, producers, cafés, hotels, and dairy cooperatives had the largest gross marketing margins, accounting for 100% of the consumer price in channels I and II, 55% in channels III and V, and 25.5% in channels V. The number of children under five, the number of milking cows owned, the amount of money from non-dairy sources, the frequency of extension service contacts, the amount of milk produced each day, and the availability of market information were found to have an impact on smallholders' involvement in the milk market. Numerous obstacles also limited the amount of milk produced and marketed. The poll claims that general health issues, sickness, predators, and a lack of veterinary care are plaguing farmers. In order to address the issue of milk perishability, the researchers recommended the host community and organization to construct an agro milk processor, renovate the dairy cooperative in the study region, and restructure the current conventional marketing to lower the transaction and cost of milk marketing.
Minds and Machines: Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Investment Decisions ...AI Publications
In the evolving landscape of financial decision-making, this study delves into the intricate relationships among Emotional Intelligence (EI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Investment Decisions (ID). By scrutinizing the direct influence of human emotional intelligence on investment choices and elucidating the mediating role of AI in this process, our research seeks to unravel the complex interplay between minds and machines. Through empirical analysis, we reveal that EI not only directly impacts ID but also exerts its influence indirectly through AI-mediated pathways. The findings underscore the pivotal role of emotional awareness in investor decision-making, augmented by the technological capabilities of AI. It suggests that most investors are influenced by the identified emotional intelligence when making investment decisions. Furthermore, AI substantially impacts investors' decision-making process when it comes to investing; nevertheless, AI partially mediates the relationship between emotional intelligence and investment decisions. This nuanced understanding provides valuable insights for financial practitioners, policymakers, and researchers, emphasizing the need for holistic strategies that integrate emotional and technological dimensions in navigating the intricacies of modern investment landscapes. As the synergy between human intuition and artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integral to financial decision-making, this study contributes to the ongoing discourse on the symbiotic relationship between minds and machines in investments.0
Bronchopulmonary cancers are common cancers with a poor prognosis. It is the leading cause of death by cancer in Algeria and in the world. Behind this unfavorable prognosis hides numerous disparities according to age, sex, and exposure to risk factors, ranking 4th among incident cancers and developing countries including Algeria, all sexes combined. It ranks 2nd cancers in men and 3rd among women. Whatever the age observed, the incidence of this cancer is higher in men than in women, however the gap is narrowing to the detriment of the latter. The results of scientific research agree to relate trends in incidence and mortality rates to tobacco consumption, including passive smoking. Furthermore, other risk factors are mentioned such as exposure to asbestos in the workplace or to radon for the general population, or even genetic predisposition. However, the weight of these etiological and/or predisposing factors is in no way comparable to that of tobacco in the genesis of lung cancer and the resulting mortality. We provide a literature review in our article on the descriptive and analytical epidemiology of lung cancer.

Growth, Yield and Economic Advantage of Onion (Allium cepa L.) Varieties in R...AI Publications
Haphazard and low soil fertility, low yielding verities and poor agronomic practices are among the major factors constraining onion production in the central rift valley of Ethiopia. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted in East Showa Zone of Adami Tulu Jido Combolcha district in central rift valley areas at ziway from October 2021 to April 2022 to identify appropriate rate of NPSB fertilizer and planting pattern of onion varieties. The experiment was laid out in split plot design of factorial arrangement in three replications. The main effect of NPSB blended fertilizer rates and varieties (red coach and red king) significantly (p<0.01) influenced plant height, leaf length, leaf diameter, leaf number and fresh leaf weight, shoot dry matter per plant, and harvest index. Total dry biomass, bulb diameter, neck diameter, average fresh bulb weight, bulb dry matter, marketable bulb yield, and total bulb yield were significantly (p<0.01) influenced only by the main effect of NPSB blended fertilizer rates. In addition, unmarketable bulb yield was statistically significantly affected (p≥0.05) by the blended fertilizer rates and planting pattern. Moreover, days to 90% maturity of onion was affected by the main factor of NPSB fertilizer rate, variety and planting pattern. The non-fertilized plants in the control treatment were inferior in all parameters except unmarketable bulb yield and harvest index. Significantly higher marketable bulb yield (41 t ha-1) and total bulb yield (41.33 t ha-1) was recorded from 300 kg ha-1 NPSB blended fertilizer rate applied. Double row planting method and hybrid red coach onion variety had also gave higher growth and yields. The study revealed that the highest net benefit of Birr, 878,894 with lest cost of Birr 148,006 by the combinations of 150 kg blended NPSB ha-1 with double row planting method (40cm*20cm*7cm) and red coach variety which can be recommendable for higher marketable bulb yield and economic return of hybrid onion for small scale farmers in the study area. Also, for resource full producers (investors), highest net benefit of Birr 1,205,372 with higher cost (159,628 Birr) by application of 300 kg NPSB ha-1 is recommended as a second option. However, the research should be replicated both in season and areas to more verify the recommendations.

The ethanolic extract of canarium solomonense leaves (ecsl) was studied for its neuroprotective activity. The neuroprotective activity of ECSL was found to have a significant impact on neuronal cell death triggered by hydrogen peroxide (MTT assay) in human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. Scopolamine, a muscarinic receptor blocker, is frequently used to induce cognitive impairment in laboratory animals. Injections of scopolamine influence multiple cognitive functions, including motor function, short-term memory, and attention. Using the Morris water maze, the Y maze, and the passive avoidance paradigm, memory enhancing activity in scopolamine-induced amnesic rats was evaluated. Using the Morris water maze, the Y maze, and the passive avoidance paradigm, ECSL was found to have a substantial effect on the memory of scopolamine- induced amnesic rats. Our experimental data indicated that ECSL can reverse scopolamine induced amnesia and assist with memory issues.
The goal of neuroprotection is to shield neurons against damage, whether that damage is caused by environmental factors, pathogens, or neurodegenerative illnesses. Inhibiting protein-based deposit buildup, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation, as well as rectifying abnormalities of neurotransmitters like dopamine and acetylcholine, are some of the ways in which medicinal herbs have neuroprotective effects [1-3]. This review will focus on the ways in which medicinal herbs may protect neurons.

The Impacts of Viral Hepatitis on Liver Enzymes and BilrubinAI Publications
Viral hepatitis is an infection that causes liver inflammation and damage. Several different viruses cause hepatitis, including hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. The hepatitis A and E viruses typically cause acute infections. The hepatitis B, C, and D viruses can cause acute and chronic infections. Hepatitis A causes only acute infection and typically gets better without treatment after a few weeks. The hepatitis A virus spreads through contact with an infected person’s stool. Protection by getting the hepatitis A vaccine. Hepatitis E is typically an acute infection that gets better without treatment after several weeks. Some types of hepatitis E virus are spread by drinking water contaminated by an infected person’s stool. Other types are spread by eating undercooked pork or wild game. Hepatitis B can cause acute or chronic infection. Recommendation for screening for hepatitis B in pregnant women or in those with a high chance of being infected. Protection from hepatitis B by getting the hepatitis B vaccine. Hepatitis C can cause acute or chronic infection. Doctors usually recommend one-time screening of all adults ages 18 to 79 for hepatitis C. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent liver damage. The hepatitis D virus is unusual because it can only infect those who have a hepatitis B virus infection. A coinfection occurs when both hepatitis D and hepatitis B infections at the same time. A superinfection occurs already have chronic hepatitis B and then become infected with hepatitis D. Micro RNA genes and their likely influence in rice (Oryza sativa L.) dynamic ...Open Access Research Paper
Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Rice grain quality, yield, disease tolerance, climate-resilience and palatability properties are not exceptional to miRN Asmutations effects. There are new insights courtesy of high-throughput sequencing and improved proteomic techniques that organisms’ complexity and adaptations are highly contributed by miRNAs containing regulatory networks. This article aims to expound on how rice miRNAs could be driving evolution of traits and highlight the latest miRNA research progress. Moreover, the review accentuates miRNAs grey areas to be addressed and gives recommendations for further studies.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.

Abstract— Meat quality, carcass and organ characteristic of arbo acre breed of broiler chicken fed diets
containing moringa, fluted pumpkin and African spinach meals and their composites as replacement for 50%
synthetic methionine in diets were examined using a completely randomized experimental design involving two
hundred and forty (240) chicks. Which were randomly distributed into eight dietary treatments of three
replicatesper treatment and ten birds per replicate. This study lasted for six weeks. At the end of the experiment,
three (3) birdsper replicate were randomly selected and slaughtered. The carcass and the organs characteristic
were measured and thigh, breast and drumstick were separated for meat quality analysis. The carcass
characteristic were all significantly (P≥0.05) differ with moringa having the highest. The organ characteristic
shows that there were no significant (p≤0.05) difference in all the parameters except for the belly fat. The meat
quality (P≤0.05) affected. There was improvement in thaw loss, tenderness, juiciness and overall acceptability of
the meats with the inclusion of the leaf mills. The composite leaf meal inclusion gave the overall best result. It
was concluded that the selected leaf meals and their composite could be used to replacement 50% synthetic
methionine in poultry diet.
Keywords— broiler chickens, tropical leaves, meat qualities.
I. INTRODUCTION
The increase in demand for poultry meat has given rise to
the use of synthetic compounds in feed and the high price
of such compounds like synthetic methionine has brought
about increase in the cost of poultry feeds. The safety of
such practice has been questioned and their use is
becoming restricted in many regions of the world.
Therefore, there has been great interest in developing
natural alternative supplements to maintain animal
performance and wellbeing (1). Broilers have a high
methionine requirement that cannot be obtained from
corn/maize and soyabean fraction of diets; therefore,
broilers require an additional source of methionine. The use
of synthetic methionine in organic feed has been criticized
for increasing bird growth rather than health as well as for
chemical processing associated with production of the
additive (2).
Vegetable-based feeds are rich source of essential plant
amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, it has
been established that green vegetable leaves are the
cheapest and most abundant source of proteins because of
their ability to synthesize amino acids from a wide range of
available primary materials such as water, carbon dioxide
and atmospheric nitrogen (3).
Leaves from some tropical plants such as Moringa
(Moringaoleifera), Fluted pumpkin (Telfairaoccidentalis)
and African spinach (Amaranthuscruentus L) contain
appreciable methionine. These tropical leaves when used in
feed may have effect on the performance and product
quality of chickens. Thus, this study is to assess the meat
quality of the broiler chickens fed diets containing some
tropical leaf meals in replacement of synthetic methionine.
II. MATERIALS AND METHODS
The experiment was carried out at the Poultry Unit of the
Teaching and Research (T&R) Farm of The Federal
University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Ondo State of
Nigeria. Amaranthuscruentus, Telferiaoccidentalis and
Moringaoleifera leaves were harvested from Abivict
Farms Nigeria, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Nigeria. The
leaves were air-dried in a well-ventilated environment for a
period of 4-7 days. The dried leaves were milled with a

hammer mill at the (T&R) Farm Feed Mill of the FUTA.
After milling, the composites were produced and the leave
meals and their composites were stored in a tightly sealed
polythene material to prevent it from absorbing moisture
from the environment. A total of 300 day-old Arbor Acre
broiler chicks were procured from Farm Support Services
Limited, Ibadan, Nigeria and 240 of the chicks of average
weight were selected. Ten chicks were randomly selected,
weighed and allotted to eight dietary treatments in a
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and were reared on
deep litter house which was partitioned into pens as
experimental units, water and feed were offered ad libitum
throughout the study period. All the necessary routine
management practices and the recommended vaccinations
were strictly observed throughout the feeding trial period of
42 days (starter; 3 weeks and finisher; 3 weeks). The basal
composition of the starter and finisher diets are presented
in tables 1 and 2 respectively.
At the end of the experimental period, three birds were
randomly selected from each replicate for slaughtering. The
birds were weighed, mechanically stunned by hitting
knife’s base on the chickens head, slaughtered by cutting of
the jugular vein, bled, de-feathered and eviscerated. All the
part both external and internal were separated and weighed
for carcass and organ characteristic respectively. Three
muscle types (chest, thigh and drumstick) were collected
from each sample in different packs and preserved in
refrigerator and freezer as appropriate.
2.1 Meat quality evaluation
Cooking loss determination, palatability test, moisture
content of the meat samples, thaw loss, fat determination
and oxidative stability of meat were done by method
described by (2).Proximate analysis of the leaf samples; the
percentage of moisture, ash, ether extract, crude fibre, and
crude protein content of the leaves were carried out by the
methods of (4).
Statistical Analysis; all data generated were analyzed by
one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) using the
Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 20).
The significant differences between means were separated
using the Duncan’s Multiple Range test (DMRT) of the
same Statistical Package.

shows the result for the moisture and fat contents of broiler
chickens fed diets containing some tropical green leaves in
replacement of methionine. The moisture content for the
three muscle types (thigh, breast and drumstick) were
significantly (P<0.05) influenced by dietary treatments.
Values obtained for moisture content did not follow any
specific trend. The values of the thigh muscle ranged
between 65.61 and 76.98%; for breast, the values ranged
between 72.31 and 75.04% and for drumstick; 76.38 and
78.33%. The drumstick had the highest moisture content
with 78.33% while the thigh muscle had the lowest with
65.61%. Broiler chickens fed diet 3 (76.98%) had the
highest moisture content for thigh, while those fed diet 8
(65.61%) had the lowest. Broiler chickens fed diet 2
(75.04%) had the highest in breast, while those fed diet 4
(72.31%) had the lowest. In the drumstick, broiler chickens
fed diet 7 (78.33%) had the highest while those fed diet 6
(76.38%) had the lowest. Broiler chickens fed diet 1 and
diet 6 were not different significantly (P>0.05) in the thigh,
those fed diet 1, diet 2, diet 3 and diet 8 were also not
significant in the breast muscle type, while those fed diet 1,
2, 3, 5 and 7 meat samples were not significantly (P<0.05)
different in the drumstick.
The fat content for the muscle types were significantly
(P<0.05) influenced by the dietary treatments. It ranged
between 5.83 and 7.87% in the thigh, between 5.57 and
6.83% in the breast and between 5.69 and 6.98% in the
drumstick. The thigh had the highest lipid with 7.87%
while the breast had the lowest. Broiler chickens fed diet 3
had the highest both in the thigh and drumstick, those fed
diet 7 had the highest in the breast muscle while those fed
diet 1 (control) had the lowest in all the muscle types.
Broiler chickens fed diet 1 were totally different from all
other diets in all the muscle types (thigh, breast and
drumstick).
The cooking losses of the meat were significantly (P<0.05)
influenced by dietary treatments. The cooking loss of the
thigh ranged between 20.94 and 30.80%. The breast muscle
values ranged between 20 and 28.88% and for drumstick,
between 16.46 and 26.71%. In the thigh muscle, broiler
chickens fed diet 5 had the highest cooking loss (30.80%)
while those fed diet 4 had the lowest (20.94%). In breast
muscle type, broiler chickens fed diet 8 had the highest
(28.88%) while those fed diet 3 had the lowest cooking loss
(20.00%). In the drumstick, broiler chickens fed diet 6
(26.71%) while those fed diet 4 (16.46) had the lowest.
Broiler chickens fed diet 1, 3,5, 6 7 and 8 were not
significantly (P>0.05) different from each other in the thigh
muscle, those fed diet 1 and diet 7 were not also
significantly (P>0.05) different in the breast muscle. The
thigh muscle had the highest with 30.80% while the
drumstick had the lowest with 16.46%.
The thaw loss for the muscle types were significantly
(P<0.05) influenced by dietary treatments. The value for
thigh muscle ranged between 0.51 and 9.24%. The value
for the breast muscle ranged between 2.05 and 4.56% while
that of drumstick ranged between 0.65 and 1.82%. Broiler
chickens fed diet 1 (control) had the highest thaw loss
(9.24%) in the thigh while those fed diet 8 had the lowest
(0.51%). Broiler chickens fed diet 4 had the highest
(4.56%) value in the breast muscle while those fed diet 1
had the lowest (2.05%). In the drumstick, broiler chickens
fed diet 1, 6, 7 and 8 were not different from each other. In
the drumstick, the chickens fed diet 4 had the lowest
(0.65%) while those fed diet 1 had the highest (1.82%).
The tenderness, juiciness and flavour of the meat samples
were significantly (P<0.05) different from each other, but
the overall acceptability were not significantly (P>0.05)
influenced by the dietary treatments. The tenderness of the
samples ranged between 6.00 and 7.50, the juiciness ranged
between 5.70 and 7.70, the flavour ranged between 5.50
and 8.00 while the overall acceptability ranged between
6.40 and 7.60. Broiler chickens fed diet 7 had the highest
overall acceptability followed by those fed diet 4 while
those fed diet 1had the least.
The oxidative stability of the meat samples were
significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the dietary treatments.
It ranged between 0.17 and 0.29mgMDA/kg meat in day-
one sample and between 0.21 and 0.64mgMDA/kg meat in
the day-five sample. The highest oxidation occurred in
broiler chickens fed diet 3 day-five sample, followed by
those fed diet 2, but the lowest oxidation occurred in the
meat of broiler chickens fed diet 6.
4 Discussions
The result of the organs and carcass characteristic was
within the range recorded by (6), (1), and (2).The moisture
content of meat is related to its water holding capacity. The
result of this study shows that the moisture content were
significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the treatments. The
value of the moisture contents did not follow any particular
trend. However, the moisture contents of the meat fell
within the range of 65 and 78% reported by (7), (8), and
(9), and also close to the range 74.7 and 75.03% reported

for meats from broiler chickens on plant supplemented feed
by (10). Despite the significance of the moisture content,
the meat quality of broiler chickens fed diets containing the
selected leave meals were not adversely affected. The
breast had the highest numerical moisture content of
78.64%.
The lipid of the meat samples were significantly (P<0.05)
different from each other. The fat content of the broiler
chickens fed diets containing the selected leave meals were
higher as compared to the control. The fat content of the
muscles fell between 4 and 12% just as it was reported for
poultry by (8) and (9). Therefore, the dietary treatments did
not have adverse effect on the quality of the meat. Thigh
muscle had highest numerical fat content (7.87%).
Cooking loss of meat refers to the weight of the fluid
exudates drained from meat after cooking (11). Low water
holding capacity and low pH result in high cooking loss.
The cooking losses of the meat were significantly (P<0.05)
influenced by dietary treatments. The cooking loss values
did not follow any particular trend. According to (12), meat
with cooking loss of 20-25% has an excellent flavour while
cooking loss of 40-50% makes meat too dry. However, the
cooking losses from meat samples recorded in this study
were below 40%. The thigh has the highest cooking loss
(30.80%).
The thaw loss of meat refers to the melting process of
conversion from frozen state to a liquid state (13). The
result of this study showed that the thaw loss of the muscle
type were significantly influenced by the dietary
treatments. According to (13), meats with high percentage
thaw loss are hard and tasteless, but from this study, the
control diet had the highest thaw losses in both the thigh
and drumstick muscle types. This implies that the dietary
treatment did not have adverse effect on the meat quality in
terms of thaw loss because the percentage thaw loss was
minimum and nutritional quality could be lost due to
leaching of soluble protein and flavour, high energy
consumption and large quality of loaded waste water
through high percentage of thaw loss.
Lipid oxidation is the primary process responsible for
quality deterioration of meat during storage (14). The
oxidative stability of the thigh were significantly (P<0.05)
influenced by dietary treatments. The result of the extent of
oxidation of the meat during refrigerated storage shows that
the rate of oxidation in the muscle did not follow any
particular trend. Broiler chickens fed diet 3 had the highest
oxidation at day-five (0.64mgMDA/kg meat) and this could
be justified with the high fat content of the thigh (7.87).
The lowest oxidation at day-five was recorded in diet 6
(0.21mgMDA/kg meat), which could be attributed to the
low fat content (5.89%) of the thigh.
The critical point of appraisal of meat quality arises when
the consumer eats the product, its outcome in terms of level
of satisfaction derived determines the decision to
repurchase (15). The overall acceptability of the meat was
not significantly (P>0.05) influenced by the dietary
treatments, but the flavour, tenderness and juiciness were
significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the dietary treatments.
The thigh meat from broiler chickens fed diet 7 appeared
best in terms of the overall acceptability, flavour and
juiciness, other diets containing the selected leaf meal also
had high overall acceptability, flavour and juiciness as
compared to the control. This implies that inclusion of
tropical leaf meals in the diet of broiler chicken enhanced
the taste and acceptance of its meat. This may be due to
high fat content of the broiler chickens’ meat fed tropical
leaves in replacement of methionine since fat content of
meat is one of the factors that influences its taste and
palatability according to (8).
IV. CONCLUSION
The meat quality of broiler chickens fed diets containing
some tropical leaf meals from Moringaoleifera,
Telfairiaoccidentalis andAmaranthuscruentus in
replacement of synthetic methionine were not adversely
affected. There were beneficial influence of the leaf meal
replacement for synthetic methionine in terms of reduced
thaw loss and improved tenderness, juiciness and overall
acceptability of the meat. The leaf meals combination in
diet 6 (25% Amaranthuscruentus, 50% Moringaoleifera
and 25% Telfairiaoccidentalis) and diet 7 (25%
Amaranthuscruentus, 25% Moringaoleifera and 50%
Telfairiaoccidentalis) gave the best result in improving
meat quality.
