Evaluating Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes Associated...
My research project is primarily focused on examining the uses of Nightscout and evaluating
changes in health behaviors and health outcomes associated with its use on patients in managing
their diabetes. Nightscout is a do it yourself (DIY) mobile technology system developed by
patients and caregivers to monitor blood glucose levels remotely using Cloud technology. We are
interested in studying Nightscout because it is a new patient created innovation, and is the first
successful DIY system to allow patients and caregivers remote access to data, such as blood
glucose levels, through mobile technology. Since Nightscout is still in the earliest stages of
development, we focused on studying the community of Nightscout users for issues such as... Show

Online communities, such as CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, are a source of support for
many patients and caregivers in overcoming the challenges of managing diabetes.4 The CGM in
the Cloud Facebook group is a virtual community of family members and patients using
Nightscout.3 The Nightscout project began in February 2013, when the parent, a software
programmer, of a newly diagnosed patient started using a continuous glucose monitoring system
(CGMS or CGM) to monitor his son s glucose levels.3 Since the foundation of Nightscout in
2013, the Facebook page has gained over 20,000 members. The Nightscout Project is a patient
designed, technology driven collaborative health innovation, however, it s a DIY device not yet
approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as a result it faces a number of legal
challenges. 3 During the developmental stage of Nightscout, there were many potential points of
technical failure in the hardware and software system, including the loss of glucose data or error in
medical decisions. During these times, the average, non technical patient and caregiver relied
heavily on online peer support groups, such as the CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, to

Propaganda In Advertising
In advertisement, propaganda is all around. It is in newspaper articles, television ads, movies, and
a plethora of other things. Propaganda is a type of advertisement that shows how good or how
much better a product is that anything else in that department. Advertisers lean heavily on
propaganda to sell products, whether the products are a brand of toothpaste, a candidate for office,
or a particular political viewpoint. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232). There are
seven main types of propaganda, Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial,
Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Since its first use, most people when they hear
propaganda, think only about political ads but that is not all that propaganda is used for. Although
propaganda may seem relevant only in the political arena, the concept can be applied fruitfully to
the way products and ideas are sold in advertising. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg.
232) Two very good examples of using propaganda techniques are a State Farm commercial, and a
Farmers advertisement. The State Farm ad is a beautifully done, two minute long commercial that
is meant to pull on the heart string of the watcher with a technique such as Plain Folks. The
farmers advertisement on the other hand is a think out of the box comical commercial that does not
cause emotions to stir but instead makes up it up with a Testimonial. Both ads are very appealing to
the eyes and don t use attacks on another

Lupe As A Role Model In The Marble Champ By Gary Soto
Have you ever been so impressed by someone when they do something amazing? In The Marble
Champ by Gary Soto, Lupe is a intelligent girl who is not very athletic, and by determination and
hard work, she wins a marbles tournament. I think Lupe is a role model. Three reasons of this are
she is intelligent, she is a good sport, and she is hardworking. Lupe is a role model. One reason
why Lupe is a role model is that she is intelligent. For example, she has a lot of awards for her
intelligence. This shows she is intelligent because it shows she has awards for intelligence.
Someone wouldn t have awards if they weren t smart. Another example is that she was
congratulated by the mayor for not missing school. This shows she is wanting to learn so

Critical Pedagogy Analysis
In The Art of Critical Pedagogy, Jeffrey Duncan Andrade and Ernest Morrell provide vivid
examples on how critical pedagogy is beneficial for academic success amongst individuals of
color. Critical pedagogy is a multicultural form of teaching that is rooted in the essential
experiences of marginalized peoples; that is centered in a critique of structural, economic, and
racial oppression; that is focused on dialogue instead of a one way transmission of knowledge; and
that is structured to empower individuals and collectives as agents of social change . (Duncan
Andrade and Morrell, 2008, p. 49) This style of teaching is essential within urban schools, as it
provides students the opportunity to establish critical intellectual and social skills.... Show more

In comparison to canonical form of teaching, students begin to learn and appreciate the unique and
equally meaningful aspects of their culture (Duncan Andrade and Morrell, 2008). Critical pedagoy
that has provided cultural relevance has led me to become a more engaged student. By reading
Toni Morrison s book, The Bluest Eye, I often found myself more intrigued in learning similar
academic pieces, as the characters often displayed cultural characteristic that were nearly identical
to my personal experiences. This teaching practice kept me engaged with the literature, allowing
me to perform higher academically. Similar to my experience, students of color that began to
partake in culturally relevant courses often endure a vast improvement of their intellectual
performance. As a result, many began to take Advanced Placement courses and were able to
matriculate to four year universities (Duncan Andrade and Morrell, 2008). Not only does critical
pedagogy allow for a deeper understanding of the curriculum, it also provides critical thinking skills
and intellectual resources that are not often provided to students of

Lucky Luciano Gangster Characteristics
Charles Lucky Luciano
Picture a person, someone with amazing leadership abilities, someone that has the potential to do
virtuous things for the world. Now, I want you to picture this person wasting his/her talents by
making unethical life decisions. Choices that caused harm to thousands of people. Now, imagine
that the same person, and they actually think that what they do is ethical and that they didn t waste
their talent. Would that be frustrating?
Charles Lucky Luciano was born in Sicily, Italy in 1897 and moved to New York City in 1906
with his family. Like many 1st generation American immigrants, there was no silver spoon or easy
road to the American dream. Lucky struggled in school and preferred the ideas of the street life. ...

A visionary leader, in my eyes, can see past certain societal limitations to advance the work climate
and outlooks for all people he/she leads.
By 1929, Lucky was running the east coast s largest bootlegging empire and emerged as one of two
Italian Mob bosses in New York City. In 1931, after the murder of the boss of bosses, or the King
of all mobsters, he had to change the ways the mafia did business or he would certainly face the
same fate. He used his Creator traits along with Intellectual Stimulation to create a National
Organized Crime syndicate, even though full of corruption, its people embraced mutual trust and
respect. Thomas N. Barnes Center for Enlisted Education [BCEE] (2016b) defines a Creator as
someone, who often can generate fresh, original concepts and new ideas in ways that defy
generally accepted structures or rules (BCEE, 2016b). Lucky exhibited this concept with his desire
to change the norm and create a national organized crime network to quell any conflicts, manage
disputes and establish guidelines between the different operations (Biography, 2016). The Full
Range Leadership lesson discusses Intellectual Stimulation as a leader who should encourage
people to brainstorm solutions and exercise their innovation and creativity (BCEE, 2016a). Lucky

The Inconvenience Of Hastings Entertainment

13, October, 2016
The Inconvenience of Hastings Entertainment Throughout our entire lives we are taught structure.
Structure that repeats itself. Each night we set our alarms to the same time previous. We awake
robotically, work, interact with the same faces, and then return to our homes to trace the process.
So where do we rely on our imagination to come from? The vast majority of us cut it out of our
cycle and replace it with a television. Some of us, however, still pick up a book. To fantasize about
things that don t actually exist, to escape from reality for just a speck of time. I am of few in this
internet driven society that still read. Which for me involves going to a bookstore to look for a
good book. Nowadays there are few bookstore opportunities. Due to Amazon and Kindle making it
easier to press a few buttons than to drive somewhere to find it. The only two bookstore chains I
know of in the Spokane area are Barns Noble and Hastings Entertainment. I usually go to Hastings
on 29th street, because it s only about ten blocks from my house. However I have begun to realize
that Hastings Entertainment is an inconvenient bookstore for its customers because there is an
unreliable computer system, not enough employees to help assist a customer and the store is always
re arranged. There is an outdated computer system for books to be located throughout the store. The
computer system Hastings has makes it very difficult to search for a book, and

Negative Effects Of Cultural Globalization
The Negative Points of Cultural Globalization
Ji Eun Kim (Stacey)

Cultural globalization has negative aspects because of cultural toadyism, cultural uniformity, and its

Literary Analysis Of Peter Bosch s The Garden Of Earthly...
Finishing with the final right panel, the composition of the humans and otherworldly aspects in
this scene are scattered and messy, conveying a sense of chaos. Humans near the front of the
scene are crushed and impaled by giant musical instruments while others near the corners and
sides of the scene are crammed together, looking terrified and hollow, appearing as if they are
hiding from something. In the background, endless wars are being fought as buildings go up in
flames, the battlefields are piled with fallen corpses, and men are falling from the sky. The lack of
order in composition and variety of chaotic scenarios of man being destroyed by their own
creations, such as the arts and inequality, convey the sense that humanity s empire... Show more

Instead, in the middle panel, the focus is more towards gaining control over groups of humans
or nature itself rather than indulging in lust. Art historian, Ludwig von Baldass, provides
another interpretation of The Garden in which he suggests that women are the cause for
mankind s fall (Baldass). As The Garden heavily references the Bible, it seems plausible that
women would be agents of chaos as it is Eve, in the first biblical story, who first ate the fruit from
the Tree of Knowledge before giving some to the Adam. However, Bosch s work is not a perfect
rendition of the biblical story, but merely references it, as noted from the larger than real life
animals, oddly shaped structures, and the human s paper white skin tones (save for a very small
number of those with black skin tones). There is also no proof showing that it was a woman who
ate the red fruit first as it was a scene never painted. Lastly, all people, both man and woman, were
partaking in the fruit in the middle panel and all of them were being tortured equally in the final
panel. Overall, the interpretation of The Garden of Earthly Delights representing the rise and fall of
mankind through the indulging of their own vices offers the most evidence to back it up, which
can be found in all three panels. Humans desire to obtain various forms of abundance, control, and
power over their surroundings has, for centuries, been the foundation on which empires

Persuasive Essay On Fukushima
Fukushima Possibly Dwarfed by Deliberate Nuclear Dumping by U.S., Europe, and Soviets
The most egregious facet of the ongoing fiasco that is the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident is
widely accepted to be the intentional release of hundreds of tons of radioactive water into the
oceans surrounding the reactors. In terms of total radioactivity released into the environment,
Fukushima has already surpassed the Chernobyl incident of the 1980s, that Soviet sized lead
balloon (plutonium balloon?), which is the only other Level 7 event on the International Nuclear
Event Scale. But another seemingly forgotten relic of the Cold War could pose an even greater
nuclear threat to our oceans, although it has yet to receive the same level of scientific and political
scrutiny as these two accidental events.
The end of World War 2 also marked the beginning of the Nuclear Age. And immediately, military

Nevertheless, the public research concerning the Fukushima disaster and its fallout should also
apply to these prior cases.
Several research groups have shown that the radioactivity from Fukushima has already had
deleterious effects on fish such as tuna all the way across the Pacific, on the west coast of North
America. A recent study in the respected Journal of Ornithology clearly showed a link between the
rising radioactivity from Fukushima and a significant recent drop in the abundance and diversity of
birds in the region.
However, given government disquietude regarding the subject, little to no research has explored the
effects of intentionally dumped radioactive waste in our oceans. It is only to be seen whether
Fukushima is indeed the largest disaster, or whether the intentional dumping of waste in our oceans
is, in fact, the silent

How Did Wwi Affect Australia During Ww1
The effect of Australians on the Middle East during WW1 On the 28 of July in 1914 the central

war upon the central powers. Australia forms the AIF (Australian Imperial force) and along with
the New Zealand force deploy to Egypt to finish their training and use it to deploy into the war.
The AIF was deployed on multiple fronts throughout the war; however, I believe that the Australian
force had the greatest impact in the Middle Eastern campaign. Britain, France and the Russians

Effects Of The Battle Of Waterloo
The Battle of Waterloo and its Effect on Today s Artillery
Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the world s greatest military strategists, led the French at the Battle of
Waterloo. During his time as a General, even in defeat, his tactics in the way he used artillery were
beyond reproach. His successes and errors made throughout the Battle of Waterloohad a direct
effect on how we use artillery today.
The Battle of Waterloo, which took place on 18 June 1815, was the final battle of the Napoleonic
wars and ended Napoleon s reign as emperor. The French marched into Belgium with 70,000 troops
and 256 artillery pieces (Stevenson, n.d.). They were met by the British Army led by, the Duke of
Wellington, Arthur Wellesly. Combined with its allies (Germans, Belgians, Dutch, and Prussians),
the British Army consisted of 67,000 troops and 156 artillery pieces.
Napoleon s greatest strength was the use of artillery, but with the heavy rain preceding the battle, he
worried that the muddy battlefield would restrict his artillery from advancing. This led to a fatal
miscalculation he decides not to attack until midday, in an attempt to allow the battlefield to dry.
The delay, would allow Marshal Blucher s Prussian Army enough time to join the fight.
Napoleon starts the battle by bringing up 74 artillery pieces and begins bombarding the British with
canon fire. They sweep and zone the battlefield with 3000 rounds over 30 minutes. To counteract
the artillery fire, Duke Wellington

Privatized Nursing Homes
Quality of life is elusive. Quality of life is complicated, multi faceted, and subjective.
Conventional ways of measuring it have emerged, mostly in terms of access to technology, level
of fulfillment of basic needs, etc. Certainly it is very difficult to have a high quality of life
without having a consistent or stable source of food for your family or yourself. But in the end,
the question of defining quality of life seems to be, unavoidably, self determined. In addition the
quality of nursing homes and long term care is determined by privatized companies who end goal

Best Post ( 1 Point )
1. Best Post (1 point) This article is relevant because it talks about how Hollywood films are
changing as studios begin to make films that don t just target the US audience, but also the
international audience, specifically from countries with emerging markets. According to the
article, studio executives will only approve a movie if there are potential overseas ticket sales.
Hollywood would go out of its way to appeal and to not offend global markets. For example, for
the Chinese version of Iron Man 3 Disney/Marvel actually created a subplot that involves Chinese
characters in order to connect with the Chinese audience. Because Hollywood films are focusing on

2. Best Post Analysis (2 points) I feel that post is my best post because I think I did a good job in
picking an interesting article and explaining how the article I picked is relevant and relatable to
Week 7 s topic/lecture about US film industry, particularly Contemporary Hollywood. Although
some of the stuff the article points out are quite obvious, as part of the target audience of the
film industry, we (I) do not usually pay much attention to the smaller subtle things. For example,
how the supporting cast is becoming more and more diverse or how as the storylines of
blockbuster films are becoming less sophisticated, appealing to such a diverse audience as the
global audience is actually very challenging. Aside from grammar, I feel like I need to expand
more about how and why I think the article is relevant to the topic of the week. Because I did not
want my post to be too long, I omitted some interesting points I found in the article. I plan to add
them in my revision post because they reinforce the fact Contemporary Hollywood is transforming
into Global Hollywood. 3. Rewritten Best Posting (4 points) This article is relevant to this week s
topic because it reinforces and highlights the important fact that Hollywood is no longer an

When the teacher asked the class who knew what the Holocaust was, only one white person out
of the entire body of students knew. That is when she realized that the students had very little
knowledge about the outside world. This greatly related to Gordon W. Allport s theory. Allport
was a psychologist who used questionnaires and interviews to measure the strength of individual
prejudice, and who found a correlation between higher education and experiences such as
knowledge about cultures, traveling, etc, and tolerance or the acceptance of differences between
people. In this case, because the students were not taught and were unaware that there were
similar cases to theirs, only on a greater scale, they continued to prejudge, and discriminate
against each other. Later on in the movie though, because they begin to travel more and gain
more knowledge about the outside world, they become more aware and realize that they should
change. In addition, three other theorists ideas play a role in the movie. The first one is Frances
Aboud, who believes that children first learn prejudice from the media, family, friends, etc, when
they are bombarded with negative images. In this movie, the girl Eva is a perfect example of how
she changed the way she sees people. Since she was a little girl, her father used to tell her that she
had to fight for their people as the ancestors fought against

Atlantic Cod Fishing

In Canada, the Grand Banks habitat is in environmental degradation (Connor and Taitano) due to
bottom trawlers tearing up the sea floor displacing and destroying the vegetation at the seafloor

Bottom trawls also disrupt the breeding patterns of the cod.. Damaging fertilized eggs.. And
greatly reducing the amount of young born (Connor and Taitano). In the United States, the Gulf of
Maine provides evidence of a loss of the young and old cod due to predation (Connor). Farming

Foley Catheter • Explain The Procedure
How to insert a Foley catheter You must explain the process to the patient before you began. Most
patients are not used to inserting any object into their urethra. It is often described as painful or
uncomfortable. So out of respect for the patient, explain the steps of the procedure to him/her
before beginning. Ask the patient to lay on their back. The patient s legs should be spread and their
feet should be together. The patient laying on their back relaxes the bladder and urethra, making
easier to insert the catheter. You can even assist the patient getting into the supine position. Wash
your hands and put on sterile gloves. Wearing gloves are very important in the health care field,
there are used to protect you and the patient from bacteria. The sterile gloves help ensure that
bacteria do not get into the urethra and the patient bodily fluids do not come into contact with your

Why We Should Stay Trim And Fit
Do you want to stay trim and fit, but also really enjoy dining out? Or, does your work or travel
schedule leave you eating in restaurants multiple times per week? If so, you re not alone. Nearly
60% of North Americans report eating out at least once per week. I believe that the whole point
of being healthy is to enjoy your life more, thus it makes no sense to stop doing the things you
enjoy in order to be healthy. The good news is that, with a bit of planning and a bit of know how,
you can stick to a healthy eatingroutine and still enjoy meals out.
Your plan of attack will depend on a few different factors:
1. Why are you out to eat? Are you there because you re on a work trip and you just need to eat, or
are you out to enjoy time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With that being said, having a few strategies can help, and I m here to help!
Before you go out:
1. Eat a small snack prior to going out, or at least ensure that you are not ravenous. If you are too
hungry, especially to the point of feeling irritable, your desire to eat anything and everything can
easily override your desire to choose a healthy option.
2. Decide ahead of time. If you are able to, research the menu online to see what the restaurant
offers. It s easier to stick to a plan that you made ahead of time rather than to try to decide on the
fly. If your plan is to indulge in whatever you want; then go for it; but decide ahead of time.
3.Change your mindset. Remind yourself that you re there to enjoy time with your friends or
spouse, and that you happen to be eating food. Enjoy your food, but remember that it s just food.
At the restaurant:
1. Start with water. Cold water, hot water, lemon water, soda water there s so many choices! If you
choose to order a drink, enjoy something on the lighter fare such as a glass of wine, or alcohol
mixed with soda water. Fancy drinks such as margaritas and long island ice teas can pack upwards
of 600 calories per glass.
2. Skip the appetizers. Appetizer is not synonymous with lower calorie. In fact, many appetizers

How Did Jazz Affect The Civil Rights Movement
The 1950s and 1960s was a turbulent time of social change. During this era, the Civil Rights
movement came to prominence as African Americans protested for equal rights, and challenged
racial discrimination. These acts of civil disobedience and both nonviolent and violent protests
brought to the forefront all of the inequalities that African Americans still faced. As all of this was
going on, music was playing an important role in the movement and race relations. Specifically,
jazz, a musical genre that in many way parallels the struggle of the Civil Rights movement. Jazz
evolved as a musical genre which defied standard genres, with its improvisation and celebration of
both individual expression and the entire band. Jazz became a precursor... Show more content on

Famed Music critic, Stanley Crouch once said, Once the musicians who played it and the
listeners who loved it began to balk at the limitations imposed by segregation, jazz became a
futuristic social force in which one was finally judged purely on the basis of one s individual
ability. Jazz predicted the civil rights movement more than any other art in America (Hentoff).
Crouch is alluding to the fact that jazz transcended racial barriers because black jazz musicians
were accepted by whites for their musicianship. This happened at first informally in a few ways.
In the early 1920s, whites and blacks were limited to jamming together in after hours informal
jam sessions as they weren t recording records together at this time (Browne). For example, in
Chicago whites would travel to the south side to jam with black musicians after hours as it would
be a decade before racially mixed bands performed in front of audiences. They came to hear the
great King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Earl Hines among others (Stokes). This also occurred
informally in gangster run illegal nightclubs and speakeasies, as blacks and whites could

Essay about Inherit the Wind
Inherit the Wind is about a 24 year old teacher named Bertram T. Cates, who is arrested for
teaching Darwin s Theory of Evolution to his junior high class. Some high profile Hillsboro town
s people press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian
town. A famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician
Matthew Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in
Tennessee. Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the

Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of
power and knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his
ego. This is identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the
omnipresent director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and
practicality. Brady is no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He
is wise enough to recall major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to
memory. However, he is naГЇve and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial
facets of the Bible, which in turn destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond
when he takes the stand. Bertram Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and
doesn t to want to cause trouble or conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and
is doing his best to teach his students that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He
is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle
against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite
dependant on Drummond for support and direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving
than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in the film is quite small in

My Experience On My Career
Daniel H Pink emphasizes that our world should move toward Motivation 3.0 and that we should
become more type I people than Type X. Pink suggest this because Motivation 3.0 and Type I both
go with the three nutrients we need to better our world; autonomy, mastery, and purpose.
Autonomy is a self determination theory, Mastery is the desire to get better and better at
something you like, and finally purpose provides activation energy for living. Pink reaffirms For
type I, it s the main motivator is the freedom, challenge, and purpose of the undertaking itself; any
other gains are welcome, but mainly as a bonus. (76) . I agree to the three elements in Motivation
3.0 and as well as to Type I because of my experience in educationtoward my career confirms it. I
ve had challenges threw my education and I know that I will continue to have them, but I also
know that I have some freedom in the work I have to do. All of this will help me in my career and

As Pink argues about Type I and Type X people, I can say that at some point during my education
I can be Type X. According to Pink, Type Xs, main motivation is external rewards, any deeper
satisfaction is welcome, but secondary. During my education I wanted to get to get rewarded if
I did my work, but as we all know that we get the best grade depending on the effort you put into
your work. So as I started seeing that I was not doing my best I knew that I was not going to reach

Simulation Pricing Strategy
My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the
maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by
implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a
number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random
number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number
corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes
until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my
project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas
suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of
pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot
based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period.
The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were:
It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because
regardless of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... Show more content

not a user takes a photo such as price, distance from a location, etc. I, however, decided to use
price as my primary factor due to my lack of information regarding the other variables. Due to
price being the main factor in the probability I saw little point in modeling the probability of
someone taking a photo with a normal distribution when it can be modeled linearly (the higher the
price at a location the more likely a user is to take a photo at that

The Vikings First Training Camp
I woke up the morning of July 30th with a smile on my face. Little did I know, that smile was

The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in
sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing

I figured that the heat was getting to me. In my pads, the heat felt as if it was over 110 degrees,
like I was the only one in the desert, and had gone without water for days. In all reality it was only
in the low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss
or Carter. A bit discouraged, I went back to the hotel room and took a nice cold shower and basked
in the cool air conditioning afterwards.
Later in the day, my wife pointed out to me that there was a picture of me in the newspaper,
vomiting. When I saw that picture for the first time my stomach turned. I thought I was going to
throw up again. It was incredibly humiliating and I knew I couldn t let the people who looked up
to me the most see me like that. Not my teammates, my peers, my wife, my son, nobody. It was
pathetic. With that picture out in the media, I was already focused on tomorrow s practice. I was
determined to come back the next day, playing harder than ever, and proving everyone wrong.
The dining area was quieter than normal the morning of July 31st. I think everyone saw the
picture, and pitied me, even felt embarrassed for me. Despite what my teammates thought, their
pity only fed the fire that fueled my motivation, and I was positive that everyone knew that. I
arrived at practice extra early to adapt to the heat. The same heat that beat me to my knees
yesterday, and the same heat that I was going to conquer

Poverty, a faulty and inadequate education system, police brutality, drugs and violence are a few
of the issues that plague the community that raised me. At a very young age, I was exposed to
all these social issues and they have shaped and influenced who I am today. Being a victim to
these issues, growing up was not easy, but I always hoped that I could make a change. As a

Minnesota Vikings
Just when it looked like Minnesota might snag the NFC North torch from their rivals due east,
Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a dislocated left knee and torn ACL during a

Surveillance Program Unethical Use Of Computer
Programs created by US Government to invade people s privacy
It is primary mission that governments protect its people, and this protection includes using some
software programs to monitor suspicious activities that could be caught on the web or from telecom

the people freedom? Is this program unethical use of computer?
There has been a case similar to that situation when the US government used national security
surveillance programs for the intent to protect Americans from terrorism and cyber attacks. These
surveillance programs were initiated by NSA to spy on telecommunication data and the internet
activities. However, these programs were created for the purpose of maintaining the security of

Space Travel
Alex Gagosian
Composition II
Instructor Bieniek
Abstract
Funding by the government allows selected human beings to experience a world beyond the
atmosphere of earth. Some of mans greatest accomplishments have occurred in space, such as the
moon landing. Space travel not only provides the delightful experience, but it also helps us to
better our technology as the year s progress. Although these are positive aspects of space travel,
there are negative aspects that strongly linger, making space travel not so promising. As you may
know, funding for space travel has cost the people in our society a great deal of money. The
government has managed to put the U.S. in debt causing an economic domino effect on other
sectors of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is the U.S. doesn t have billions of dollars to throw around, so most of the money
used for space travel is budgeted into the U.S. deficit. This deficit affects all U.S. citizens through
taxes, interest rates, consumption, and investment. Society as a whole is affected tremendously
economically. Now when a natural disaster occurs all the money is tied up in the deficit, and
federal agencies battle over where the disaster relief money should come from. While all this
bickering is taking place within the government, millions of people could be in grave danger. Just
a couple of months ago America witnessed an event similar to this one involving Hurricane
Katrina. Government agencies took too long to aid the relief and hundreds of people died.
Government has been known for centuries to be very slow in decision making. If the Government
allocated money more efficiently then some of the nations financial problems could be solved. As
with any advancement of technology, the moon landing had both positive and negative aspects
associated with it. On the positive side, the moon landing paved the way for future space exploration
. The trip was a huge success for the forward movement of mankind. The capabilities of the lunar
module and other devices allowed scientists to determine the best designs and techniques for space
travel. Technologies used in space from past explorations are being used on Earth;

Aristotle Analysis
An examination of Aristotle s critique of the different claims to rule reveals that because of our
nature as political animals, living the good life is most practicable under the regime of the polity.
Therefore, by separating the utopian theory of a regime and the practicable application, Aristotle
shows that we can live in a state where our virtuecontributes to the being of the city, and in the
process, bring forth the ultimate goal of the city: achieving happiness through the good life.
By laying out the case for a ruling oligarchy, Aristotleclaims the wealthy regard justice in strictly
monetary terms, saying, [oligarchs] think if they are superior in one point, for example in wealth,
they are superior in all (Aristotle 103). In other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the ideal polity, the middle class is the binding glue of moderation among the excess ( the
very rich ) and the defect ( the very poor ). It is essential to understand that by applying his ethics
to his politics, Aristotle is claiming that we can find the mean between the god like virtue of his
perfect state through the more practical application of moderation. True, the majority of men who
rule in a polity will not be of the most excellence, but they will be the second best excellence,
which is those in possession of much moderation. By acting as a voice of reason amidst the
excessive and defective, the middle can serve as a barrier against those who would overstep the
mean, and therefore act against virtue. This mean of moderation in cities offers the best chance for
the most people to live the good life, as Aristotle reaffirms when he says, [in cities] moderation and
the mean are always best (Aristotle

Miller Saying To You Summary
Analysis Paper 4 What is Miller Saying to You?Ed Potter The one point Miller (2012) made that
caught my attention was the substantial role he emphasized motivation plays in an individual s
decision to stop using drugs and alcohol. Personally, I always agreed with this thought, however, it
was in a different context. I was always under the impression that once an individual had suffered
enough as a result of their addiction, change would occur. However, Miller (2012) provided sound
examples of the motivational process and how and why it is key in an individual s decision to
abstain from substances.
It has been my experience that when working with individuals suffering from substance abuse,
motivation is often one of the biggest hurdles

Dracul Gothic Fiction In The Victorian Era
In the Victorian Era, Gothic fiction was an exceedingly popular literature genre among numerous
people because it was relatively new. Such elements as death, gloom, suspense, mystery, and terror
make up a Gothic novel in literature. The novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker, was the ideal
Gothic fiction in the 19th century and still is today because of its incorporation of vampires,
castles, spine chilling murders, and overpowering emotions which contribute to the Gothic
atmosphere. Draculais set in Transylvania, during the Victorian Era. The setting is extremely
significant in Dracula because it contributes abundantly to the Gothic atmosphere the novel
possesses. In this novel, the setting includes wild Transylvanian landscapes, dreary buildings,
secret hidden rooms, an asylum, and a graveyard. Such setting contribute to the novel s gothic
ambiance because they are places that usually tend to reveal a perturbing feeling to those
surrounding it. The most seen settings in the novel Dracula is Dracula s castle, the graveyard by
St. Mary s Church and Dr. Seward s asylum which all contain gloomy features that contribute to
the Gothic atmosphere in Dracula. Dracula s castle is described as It contains all in all some
twenty acres, quite surrounded by the solid wall above mentioned. There are many trees on it,
which makes it in places gloomy, and there is a deep, dark looking pond or small lake... (Stoker
22). The castle s abundant amount of trees surrounding the castle and

Organizational Structure Paper
Organizational Structure Paper
For the past 3 years, I have worked for a company called 2020 communications. This company
has many different contracts with other companies like Verizon, T Mobile, and other wireless
providers. As a Territorial Manager I do not work for these global wireless companies, we manage
the territories and make sure that the actual stores are selling the company s products and services.
2020 Communications has a simple structure that consists of a single individual that runs the
company. Under that individual there are 2 district managers and then there are territorial
managers that work directly for the company. I am contracted to work for T Mobile to manage 9
locations. In the company in which i work for they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They then put together a strategy and a plan to make those goals come to past. Tactical plans go
hand in hand, with strategic planning because tactical planning is are a more detailed direct set
of plans to complete the bigger picture. Operational plans consist of the day to day operations
and the way the company is ran on a daily business. In my company we have a very strategic set
of plans and goals inwhich the company is trying trting achieve. we have monthly meetings in
which we sit and discuss the many different day to day operations that are working and bringing in
revenue to the company. We also talk about the different aspects of the business that need changes,
whether if it is customer based or service related.
Human resources playes a big role in 2020 Communications, they are the back bone of the
company. HR has steared away for the traditional hire and fire role and developed to an integral
part of the business. The Human Resource department goes through diffeent strategies in which
wherre they try and disect all aspects of the company to try and make the staff happy and have the
best interest of the company. It is easy for a company to focus on these aspects due to the fact that
we dont have to worry about paying storefront cost for acutual locations. We kind of piggy back off
of the copporate locations. HR also comes up with differrent training that will help the management
staff become better

In James Loewen’S Book, Lies My Teacher Told Me, He Talks
In James Loewen s book, Lies My Teacher Told Me, he talks about misconceptions in America
school textbooks. Are these actually misconceptions though? What is the author saying about
American history when details or whole event are untold? Lowen delves into these deep topics head
on and gives examples as he goes. This book is not only intended for those who have read an
American history book, but for those who have never heard the truth. Lowen wrote this book in
order to uncover and educate; furthermore, this is important because events never told are now
brought to light. Using detailed information concerning racism, governmental over watch, and the
Vietnam War the author argues that the American history textbook
has covered up things in... Show

The American school systems has always made it seem as if slavery was widely frowned upon,
but that was not the case. Northerners felt that, ... black people were so hopelessly inferior that
slavery was a proper form of education for them... (Lowen 144). Huge shocker here, like we
understood that the north was jealous of the southern economy, but never thought they would agree
with slavery. Lowen uncovers what the textbooks missed, which makes the American society look
as if we are just terrible people. Growing up, the American population has always heard the phrase
big brother is watching but did we know to what extent they involved themselves and their attempts
to hide things? The government is always trying to make America seem as if we are just this great
place that cares about everyone; furthermore, this has been called the good guy interpretation . In
recent textbooks, it is claimed that the United States is the most generous nation and that we
provide aid to anyone who needs it, unfortunately this is false. There are other eastern countries
that donate much larger amounts to foreign aid. Why would these textbooks make a false claim?
This is the U.S. trying to be something it s not in order to draw appeal to the United States. The
textbooks have given light to some sensitive subjects such as plots to assassinate other world
leaders, but these textbooks still find every motive affable and fine. Has

What It Takes With Illegally Cross The U.s. -mexico Border
What it Takes to Illegally Cross the U.S. Mexico Border
It is the human nature to have a need to build a superior future for oneself and one s families. In
cases where people believe that they are not in a decent place and their future by all accounts is in
shambles, they are more willing to take risks and hopefully move to a better point. The same
theory applies to the people who are seeking to illegally enter the U.S. Many of those people have
been disappointed with the failings and shortcomings of their government. In addition, the
expansion of drug cartel in the country and rising violence has people on their knees deep in
poverty without any opportunity to earn and thrive. Thus, they see the neighboring country, the
U.S., as their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, some of the women ingest birth control pills before they start the journey anticipating the
worst like rape to avoid unwanted pregnancies. Some women who are not raped, are forced or
expected to give sexual favors to the coyotes as a form of payment for the crossings (218). The
illegal crossing comes as a huge financial burden to attain the dreams of living a better life.
Additionally, people consistently and constantly expect and prepare for the worst case scenarios
and pray that they do not succumb to it. The migrants already recognize that they will be
participating in a lengthy and struggling hike in an unknown territory. However, instead of resting,
their mind will be swamped dreading the unknown. The female migrants suffer from a higher
mental toll and pressure as they worry about sexual abuse or being dumped in a fresh trade
business on top of everything. Therefore, the journey to cross the U.S. border is mentally draining
and distressing to the travelers.
In the same manner, the quest to cross the border is demanding and challenging. On an average
summer, the temperature in the area rises above 120 Fahrenheit and lowers below 42 Fahrenheit
(Androff 165). Because of this extreme temperature and the number of miles that it takes one to
cross the border, it is about impossible to carry enough water to combat dehydration (Debuys 218).

Arundhati Roy and Chi Li Slays the Serpent
The First Weekly Essay
This week the author I read about that caught my attention was Arundhati Roy and the story of
Chi Li Slays the Serpent also caught my eye. The two stories are alike because of their heroism
about the situations they faced in the stories that I read. They knew there would be a fight of a
lifetime and they were prepared to face any consequences that came with the territory. The
monster conquered you because you were too timid to put up a fight! How pitiful! That was one
of the quotes from the story that really grabbed my attention to how I feel about some of the
women that let certain things go on in their lives such as abuse, or being misled for a long period
of time. Well that was a short story and not enough to write about so in further reading I hope you
enjoy the reading.
Arundhati Roy was born in 1961, her mother a Christian woman a native of Kerala and her father
was Hindu from Bengal. Because of the divorce of her parents, Arundhati spent her early years in
Aymanam with her mom. The influence of her childhood years are revealed her writings
structurally and thematically. Arundhati s mother was a prominent social activist who founded an
independent school and taught Roy normally. Her mother s teaching gave her the ability to follow
her inner voice in her writings. She comment that When I write, I never re write a sentence because
for me my thoughts and my writing are one thing. It s like breathing I don t re breathe a

  • 2. Evaluating Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes Associated... My research project is primarily focused on examining the uses of Nightscout and evaluating changes in health behaviors and health outcomes associated with its use on patients in managing their diabetes. Nightscout is a do it yourself (DIY) mobile technology system developed by patients and caregivers to monitor blood glucose levels remotely using Cloud technology. We are interested in studying Nightscout because it is a new patient created innovation, and is the first successful DIY system to allow patients and caregivers remote access to data, such as blood glucose levels, through mobile technology. The Nightscout Project is a patient designed, technology driven collaborative health innovation, however, it s a DIY device not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as a result it faces a number of legal challenges. 3 During the developmental stage of Nightscout, there were many potential points of technical failure in the hardware and software system, including the loss of glucose data or error in medical decisions. During these times, the average, non technical patient and caregiver relied heavily on online peer support groups, such as the CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Propaganda In Advertising In advertisement, propaganda is all around. It is in newspaper articles, television ads, movies, and a plethora of other things. Propaganda is a type of advertisement that shows how good or how much better a product is that anything else in that department. Advertisers lean heavily on propaganda to sell products, whether the products are a brand of toothpaste, a candidate for office, or a particular political viewpoint. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232). There are seven main types of propaganda, Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Since its first use, most people when they hear propaganda, think only about political ads but that is not all that propaganda is used for. Although propaganda may seem relevant only in the political arena, the concept can be applied fruitfully to the way products and ideas are sold in advertising. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232) Two very good examples of using propaganda techniques are a State Farm commercial, and a Farmers advertisement. The State Farm ad is a beautifully done, two minute long commercial that is meant to pull on the heart string of the watcher with a technique such as Plain Folks. The farmers advertisement on the other hand is a think out of the box comical commercial that does not cause emotions to stir but instead makes up it up with a Testimonial. Both ads are very appealing to the eyes and don t use attacks on another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three reasons of this are she is intelligent, she is a good sport, and she is hardworking. Lupe is a role model. One reason why Lupe is a role model is that she is intelligent. For example, she has a lot of awards for her intelligence. This shows she is intelligent because it shows she has awards for intelligence. Someone wouldn t have awards if they weren t smart. Critical Pedagogy Analysis In The Art of Critical Pedagogy, Jeffrey Duncan Andrade and Ernest Morrell provide vivid examples on how critical pedagogy is beneficial for academic success amongst individuals of color. Critical pedagogy is a multicultural form of teaching that is rooted in the essential experiences of marginalized peoples; that is centered in a critique of structural, economic, and racial oppression; that is focused on dialogue instead of a one way transmission of knowledge; and that is structured to empower individuals and collectives as agents of social change . As a result, many began to take Advanced Placement courses and were able to matriculate to four year universities (Duncan Andrade and Morrell, 2008). Structure that repeats itself. Each night we set our alarms to the same time previous. We awake robotically, work, interact with the same faces, and then return to our homes to trace the process. So where do we rely on our imagination to come from? The vast majority of us cut it out of our cycle and replace it with a television. Some of us, however, still pick up a book. To fantasize about things that don t actually exist, to escape from reality for just a speck of time. I am of few in this internet driven society that still read. Which for me involves going to a bookstore to look for a good book. Nowadays there are few bookstore opportunities. Due to Amazon and Kindle making it easier to press a few buttons than to drive somewhere to find it. The only two bookstore chains I know of in the Spokane area are Barns Noble and Hastings Entertainment. I usually go to Hastings on 29th street, because it s only about ten blocks from my house. However I have begun to realize that Hastings Entertainment is an inconvenient bookstore for its customers because there is an unreliable computer system, not enough employees to help assist a customer and the store is always re arranged. • 13. Literary Analysis Of Peter Bosch s The Garden Of Earthly... Finishing with the final right panel, the composition of the humans and otherworldly aspects in this scene are scattered and messy, conveying a sense of chaos. Humans near the front of the scene are crushed and impaled by giant musical instruments while others near the corners and sides of the scene are crammed together, looking terrified and hollow, appearing as if they are hiding from something. In the background, endless wars are being fought as buildings go up in flames, the battlefields are piled with fallen corpses, and men are falling from the sky. The lack of order in composition and variety of chaotic scenarios of man being destroyed by their own creations, such as the arts and inequality, convey the sense that humanity s empire... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, in the middle panel, the focus is more towards gaining control over groups of humans or nature itself rather than indulging in lust. Art historian, Ludwig von Baldass, provides another interpretation of The Garden in which he suggests that women are the cause for mankind s fall (Baldass). As The Garden heavily references the Bible, it seems plausible that women would be agents of chaos as it is Eve, in the first biblical story, who first ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge before giving some to the Adam. However, Bosch s work is not a perfect rendition of the biblical story, but merely references it, as noted from the larger than real life animals, oddly shaped structures, and the human s paper white skin tones (save for a very small number of those with black skin tones). There is also no proof showing that it was a woman who ate the red fruit first as it was a scene never painted. Lastly, all people, both man and woman, were partaking in the fruit in the middle panel and all of them were being tortured equally in the final panel. Overall, the interpretation of The Garden of Earthly Delights representing the rise and fall of mankind through the indulging of their own vices offers the most evidence to back it up, which can be found in all three panels. Humans desire to obtain various forms of abundance, control, and power over their surroundings has, for centuries, been the foundation on which empires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In terms of total radioactivity released into the environment, Fukushima has already surpassed the Chernobyl incident of the 1980s, that Soviet sized lead balloon (plutonium balloon?), which is the only other Level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale. But another seemingly forgotten relic of the Cold War could pose an even greater nuclear threat to our oceans, although it has yet to receive the same level of scientific and political scrutiny as these two accidental events. Effects Of The Battle Of Waterloo The Battle of Waterloo and its Effect on Today s Artillery Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the world s greatest military strategists, led the French at the Battle of Waterloo. During his time as a General, even in defeat, his tactics in the way he used artillery were beyond reproach. His successes and errors made throughout the Battle of Waterloohad a direct effect on how we use artillery today. The Battle of Waterloo, which took place on 18 June 1815, was the final battle of the Napoleonic wars and ended Napoleon s reign as emperor. The French marched into Belgium with 70,000 troops and 256 artillery pieces (Stevenson, n.d.). They were met by the British Army led by, the Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesly. Combined with its allies (Germans, Belgians, Dutch, and Prussians), the British Army consisted of 67,000 troops and 156 artillery pieces. Napoleon s greatest strength was the use of artillery, but with the heavy rain preceding the battle, he worried that the muddy battlefield would restrict his artillery from advancing. This led to a fatal miscalculation he decides not to attack until midday, in an attempt to allow the battlefield to dry. The delay, would allow Marshal Blucher s Prussian Army enough time to join the fight. Napoleon starts the battle by bringing up 74 artillery pieces and begins bombarding the British with canon fire. • 19. Best Post ( 1 Point ) 1. Best Post (1 point) This article is relevant because it talks about how Hollywood films are changing as studios begin to make films that don t just target the US audience, but also the international audience, specifically from countries with emerging markets. According to the article, studio executives will only approve a movie if there are potential overseas ticket sales. Hollywood would go out of its way to appeal and to not offend global markets. For example, for the Chinese version of Iron Man 3 Disney/Marvel actually created a subplot that involves Chinese characters in order to connect with the Chinese audience. Because Hollywood films are focusing on appealing to the audience across the globe, the storytelling of recent movies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Best Post Analysis (2 points) I feel that post is my best post because I think I did a good job in picking an interesting article and explaining how the article I picked is relevant and relatable to Week 7 s topic/lecture about US film industry, particularly Contemporary Hollywood. Although some of the stuff the article points out are quite obvious, as part of the target audience of the film industry, we (I) do not usually pay much attention to the smaller subtle things. For example, how the supporting cast is becoming more and more diverse or how as the storylines of blockbuster films are becoming less sophisticated, appealing to such a diverse audience as the global audience is actually very challenging. Aside from grammar, I feel like I need to expand more about how and why I think the article is relevant to the topic of the week. Because I did not want my post to be too long, I omitted some interesting points I found in the article. I plan to add them in my revision post because they reinforce the fact Contemporary Hollywood is transforming into Global Hollywood. 3. Rewritten Best Posting (4 points) This article is relevant to this week s topic because it reinforces and highlights the important fact that Hollywood is no longer an American or Western exclusive industry. In fact, the Hollywood of today is practically Global Hollywood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Stereotyping, Discrimination and Prejudice in the Media The movie that I have chosen to watch for this particular bonus assignment is called The Freedom Writers . The movie is about a new teacher and the challenges that she faces in order to make the students in her English class, who come from different ethnics backgrounds and who most hate each other, get along. And, of course, by the end of the movie, she is successful in doing so. Racism played a major role in this movie, seen as a negative aspect in the children s attitudes and mentalities. Racism is defined as negative behaviour on an incorrect assumption that one race is inherently superior to others. This is one of the many forms of discrimination which is defined as unfair actions directed against people based on their race, gender, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the teacher asked the class who knew what the Holocaust was, only one white person out of the entire body of students knew. That is when she realized that the students had very little knowledge about the outside world. This greatly related to Gordon W. Allport s theory. Allport was a psychologist who used questionnaires and interviews to measure the strength of individual prejudice, and who found a correlation between higher education and experiences such as knowledge about cultures, traveling, etc, and tolerance or the acceptance of differences between people. In this case, because the students were not taught and were unaware that there were similar cases to theirs, only on a greater scale, they continued to prejudge, and discriminate against each other. Later on in the movie though, because they begin to travel more and gain more knowledge about the outside world, they become more aware and realize that they should change. In addition, three other theorists ideas play a role in the movie. The first one is Frances Aboud, who believes that children first learn prejudice from the media, family, friends, etc, when they are bombarded with negative images. In this movie, the girl Eva is a perfect example of how she changed the way she sees people. During this era, the Civil Rights movement came to prominence as African Americans protested for equal rights, and challenged racial discrimination. These acts of civil disobedience and both nonviolent and violent protests brought to the forefront all of the inequalities that African Americans still faced. As all of this was going on, music was playing an important role in the movement and race relations. Jazz predicted the civil rights movement more than any other art in America (Hentoff). Crouch is alluding to the fact that jazz transcended racial barriers because black jazz musicians were accepted by whites for their musicianship. This happened at first informally in a few ways. In the early 1920s, whites and blacks were limited to jamming together in after hours informal jam sessions as they weren t recording records together at this time (Browne). For example, in Chicago whites would travel to the south side to jam with black musicians after hours as it would be a decade before racially mixed bands performed in front of audiences. Autonomy is a self determination theory, Mastery is the desire to get better and better at something you like, and finally purpose provides activation energy for living. Pink reaffirms For type I, it s the main motivator is the freedom, challenge, and purpose of the undertaking itself; any other gains are welcome, but mainly as a bonus. (76) . • 30. Simulation Pricing Strategy My project this summer was to create a pricing strategy for a simulation that would return the maximum frequency of pictures spread evenly across a given number of locations. I began by implementing a simple simulation in which I used Math.Random() to repeatedly generate a number between zero and thirty, thirty being the set number of locations. I then used the random number generated as an array index and increased the picture count in the location that the number corresponded to by one. Each location had a set price so all I did was generate location indexes until the budget was met. After I finished this very basic simulation, I started contemplating my project focus which was the pricing strategy I needed to implement. One of the original ideas suggested to me was the Poisson Distribution in which I could model the simulation as number of pictures taken over a period of time. I could then allocate more or less of the budget to a time slot based on how many pictures were taken in the previous time period. The issues I had when attempting to model this distribution were: It proved rather difficult to model the simulation based on previous pictures taken, because regardless of this information when I distributed the budget I had no way of ... Aristotle Analysis An examination of Aristotle s critique of the different claims to rule reveals that because of our nature as political animals, living the good life is most practicable under the regime of the polity. Therefore, by separating the utopian theory of a regime and the practicable application, Aristotle shows that we can live in a state where our virtuecontributes to the being of the city, and in the process, bring forth the ultimate goal of the city: achieving happiness through the good life. It is essential to understand that by applying his ethics to his politics, Aristotle is claiming that we can find the mean between the god like virtue of his perfect state through the more practical application of moderation. True, the majority of men who rule in a polity will not be of the most excellence, but they will be the second best excellence, which is those in possession of much moderation. By acting as a voice of reason amidst the excessive and defective, the middle can serve as a barrier against those who would overstep the mean, and therefore act against virtue. However, Miller (2012) provided sound examples of the motivational process and how and why it is key in an individual s decision to abstain from substances.
