Cloud Computing And Google App Engine Development
Cloud Computing and Google App Engine development
About cloud computing:
Cloud computing is a term coined for a recent trend towards service oriented cluster computing
/processing based on certain SLA and other benefits. It provides simplified and automated process
for configuring, deployment, maintenance and easy process to manage the resources. The offering
of different clouds (Azure, google, AWS etc.) may differ, but what s common among them is
Virtualization and performance isolation for per user/application.
Cloud computing can broadly be classified into 3 broad categories:
Software as a service SaaS describes a system in which high level functionality software as an on
demand is hosted by a cloud and shared to end client using thin client application via internet.
The main feature of SaaS systems is that the API offered to the cloud client is for a complete
software service. The SaaS Cloud provider may charge end user based on number of users or
number of requests hit on hosted API. Example Sales Force.
Platform as a service PaaS refers to the availability of scalable services through an interface from
which restricted network accessible, applications written in high level languages (Java,.net, python
etc.) can be created. Two examples of PaaS systems are Google App Engine(GAE) and Microsoft
Azure.
Infrastructure as a Service IaaS describes a services for provisioning virtualized operating system
instances, storage, and network capacity under contract from a

The Killing Of Kitty Genovese Dorman Summary
Is it the correct thing to do and our duty as humans to help each other out? In the article, The
Killing of Kitty Genovese by Michael Dorman, the author describes how a young woman named
Kitty Genovese was stabbed while 38 neighbors watched from above. One man yelled out, Let
that girl alone. In effect, the predator walked away. Immediately after the neighbors closed their
windows he came ferociously and stabbed her four more times until she eventually bled out and
died. Overall, in this situation was it truly that hard to pick up a cell phone and phone the police?
The failure to take action can lead to many more fatalities and injuries in the long run as it did in
the case of Kitty Genovese. People should be punished for not doing anything

Media And Mass Media Deviance
Media is the most effective method of mass communication. There are many different sources of
mass media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news
media, print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017).
Considering all the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an
influence on deviant behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance
rather than reducing it. When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as
behavior that is inherently bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that
departs from the social constructs of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly
used amongst mass mediato entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent
social constructs to make a profit. Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there
wouldn t be any motive behind showing them. All things considered, what the media covers and
how much they chose to cover has significantly changed over the years, the most apparent in crime
coverage. This consistent coverage of crime gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the
media. They can feel a part of the intensity of an investigation, cheer on the enforcers, become
immersed in their stereotypes. On the other hand, they can appreciate deviance for its resilience to
overcome and resist

The Use Of Metal Detectors In School Shootings
School shootings have been on the rise in the United States since the early 80 s, questioning the
safety and security of schools all across the country. Lots of ideas have come up for trying to
keep weapons out of schools but the idea of having metal detectors has stuck and on paper seems
to be a viable option for schools but in real use they have lots of issues. One of the biggest
problems with using metal detectors in public schools will be cost. Cost affects many different
things to do with the metal detectors, two of the major factors being proper trained staff and
paying for repairs. Another issue with metal detectors are they are slow, make kids late to class
and also make kids dread going to school in the morning. There could be compromises made like
alternative options like random checks or quick pat downs but getting rid of this style of
security would be better all together. Metal detectors should not be used in schools because they
make students late to class, cause anxiety and are too expensive to be used in public schools.
Metal detectors are making kids tired and late to class because the process is so lengthy. Ms.
Dunley, a teacher who works at a school where metal detectors are being used says She marks
several people late everyday because they are being held up by the metal detector. The time that is
being consumed by the metal detectors not only wastes class time but kids have to arrive hours
before school to wait in line to get passed the metal

Adults And The Influence Of Empathy In Adults
As with many other skills, empathy is a learned skill that requires an awareness that other people
think, feel, and behave in ways that are both similar and different from one s self, or put simply,
being able to relate to and understand what another person is experiencing or feeling (McDonald
Messinger, 2011). One of the first experiences that people have with empathyfrequently appears as a
baby when we hear another infant cry (Szalavitz, 2010). Other research has shown that infants not
only favor adults who appear to be more helpful, but they also tend to offer voluntary help to adults
who appear to be having difficulties when reaching for something (Szalavitz, 2010). Therefore,
according to this research, it might be suggested that whether

How Does Bridget Jones s Diary Relate To Belonging
Bridget Jones s Diary, a british american romantic comedy film based in the early 2000 s of
London. The film starring Renee Zellweger(Bridget Jone) for the 30 year old young working
women through her romantic struggles in the single life of london. Our main character bridget
spends the first half of the film having a intimate relationship with her boss, Daniel Cleaver (the
lovely Hugh Grant) that she work very hard for. Only to find later that he is cheating on her, she
then make the change to spend more time on herself. Toward the end of the movie it is clear that
Ms.Bridget Joneschoses to start a relationship with Mark Darcy(Colin Firth).
One of the main themes in this film is intimacy vs. isolation. Many young adults in the intimacy vs
isolation stage define themselve based on the relationships that they have. Finding meaning in this
outside of themselves is an important of new adulthood. The boundless stated that most adults
look for meaning in work to define themselve by what they do. Another question many adults ask

would (1)stop smoking, (2) start her diary, (3) and find Mr. Right. I think this moment was very
important for intimacy vs. isolation. The reason for that is because she decide to answer the

The Theory Of Free Market Economics
When I came back to Oregon after spending four years in the Marine Corps, I quickly became
interested in politics. In 2013 I was introduced to the concepts of free market economics, a system
where the consumer decides the prices of goods or services without the intervention of the
government or any other authority. In Sandel s Justice I found that his writing on libertarianismto be
somewhat confusing and written with an agenda. Sandel quotes Nozick saying, only a minimal
state, limited to enforcing contracts and protecting people against force, theft and fraud is justified.
I believe Sandel uses this as an attempt to explain the Non aggression principle, without actually
explaining anything in depth. The non aggression principle the NAP is easily the most important
aspect of having a free market. The number one misconception that people have about libertarian
beliefs and the free market is that with deregulationcomes anarchy (a perpetual state of chaos,
without rules.) The non aggression principle is the key component that makes libertarianism work.
A free market if followed offers a maximization of economic and monetary security if the NAP; it
leads to complete non interventionist economy. The best way to maximize peace is to remove any
justification for dynamic, aggressive force (i.e. Institutions of the state) the concepts of government
welfare programs can be taken over by the moral obligation to help your fellow man. Historically
the state breeds war, in

Flawed Performance Appraisals
The performance appraisals process is flawed in many ways. Lack of preparation, time, training,
and professionalism are a few examples of how the system is flawed. The individual completing
the application often has many tasks that supersedes taking the appropriate time necessary to
accurately keep notations of an employee s performance throughout the year. The lack of time
leads to an employee receiving a performance review on the most recent accounts of his or her
job performance instead of his or her performance throughout the entire year. Lack of
professionalism can also hurt the appraisal process. An employee should be rated by his or her job
duties instead of the personal opinion or feelings the manager or supervisor completing the form. All

The job description for each position is different and so should the evaluation process and
questioner. Each department in an organization needs to have guidelines set forth outlining the
duites, expectations, training model, and professional code and consistency among employees are
critical to the professional appraisal evaluation process. Each employee must be held to the same
accountability or the evaluation process becomes tainted by lack of consistency. Management
should always focus on the appraisal process as another of their job duties instead of over
thinking the task and rating an employee out of fear and retaliation or to prevent an employee
from receiving a raise or promotion. In addition, the for the appraisal process to be beneficial to
the company the outcome has to be to protect the company from liability or litigation from a
disgruntled employee and to boost the companies overall productivity ratings. When an employee
believes he or she has a hand in creating the plan to evaluate and change his or her performance the
changes are more likely to last rather than being told what changes need to

The Food On Biola University Is All Provided By Bon Appetite
The food on Biola University is all provided by Bon Appetite. In the beginning, I did not know
that Bon Appetite s food was Certified Humane so I decided to show support of humane
treatment of animals by going on a vegetarian diet. Since I could not go off campus to buy
Certified Humane groceries nor could I really afford buying healthy groceries, I decided to go
vegetarian. I did the vegetarian diet for two weeks and obtained protein through nuts, beans, and
peanut butter. When I was participating in the diet, I realized how common meatwas a part of the
dishes served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was often a central part of a dish, and meat was
always served for every meal. While protein is an essential part of a healthy diet, the amount
offered is more than needed. After this exercise, I am willing to consider giving up chicken or
pork. I also definitely suggest going on a vegetarian diet for at least a week or two to experience
what it is like. I gained a broader perspective when I did this diet and learned how vegetarians got
their protein, why vegetarians did their diet, and obtained a common ground to discuss about with
vegetarians or vegans. I find that a vegetarian diet is a lot easier than a vegan diet. Perhaps one
should participate in a vegetarian diet for a week and then a vegan diet for another week. In
addition, to fully understand the purpose of such diet and effects of such diet, one should perhaps
journal their experience, note down what they would

Supply and Demand Economic Critique
The United States economy is determined by a number of factors, such as; gross domestic product
(GDP), unemployment rates, consumer income, and interest rates. Everything the U.S. produces is
measured by the GDP. When the GDP turns negative, the economy can enter a recession. If this
negative GDP continues for years the country is considered in a depression. Supply and demand are
the forces drive the U.S. economy. Supply includes employment and natural resources such as oil.
Demand, or personal consumption, drives 70% of the economy. The current spiral of the United
States economy can be attributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Consumer Confidence Index is watched by stock market analysts and investors to get an idea
of whether consumer spending will continue to drive the economy.
The U.S. is also facing income inequality, one quarter of Americans make less than $10 per hour,
and this is income below poverty level. Many lower wage workers receive no health insurance,
pension plans, no sick or vacation days. Recent government tax policies have helped rich investors
more than the low wage earners. Technology and outsourcing has increased inequality. Emerging
markets of other countries are seeing increases in their income as they become more competitive in
the global marketplace. Overseas work forces are becoming more skilled and sophisticated in
managing their economy; as a result, wealth is shifting to those countries.
Interest rates control the flow of money in the economy. High interest rates curb inflation, but also
slow down the economy. Lower interest rates stimulate the economy, but could lead to inflation.
Americans must know whether rates are increasing or decreasing, and what other economic
indicators are saying. The target interest rate, or short term interest rate is controlled by the
Federal Reserve. Long term interest rates are market driven. The global average interest rate for
long term debt is the result of global demand for credit compared to global supply of saving.
It doesn t seem clear if the country is still rising from its

The Effectiveness Of A Connection
The Effectiveness of a Connection in Relation to a Tragedy As art becomes more prevalent,
intricate, and sophisticated in culture so does its impact on a viewer. A viewer must experience
a work of art and connect to it in order for it to be considered effective. Ajax by Sophocles can be
considered a work of art because of its ability to connect to an audience. Sophoclesplay follows a
warrior named Ajax who was threatening to kill Odysseus to obtain the armor he believed was
rightfully his, which causes the goddess Athena to cast a curse leaving him blind with rage and in
a state where he slaughters hordes of animals believing that they are his enemies. Ajax later
becomes distraught to the point of suicide. Bryan Doerries produced a version of Ajax to relate to
veterans through his company, Theater of War. This company s specific purpose is to de stigmatize
psychological injury, increase awareness of post deployment psychological health issues,
disseminate information regarding available resources, and foster greater family community, and
troop resilience through the performance of Ancient Greek plays to military and civilian
communities (Outside the Wire). Because of this purpose, the audience is able to form an intense
connection with Ajax and fulfill the purpose of art. While looking at Aristotle s Theory of Tragedy
and the six most important features of a tragedy, it becomes apparent that connection through all six
features is the only way to create effective art.

Essay about The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1948 would have lasting negative effects on Mexican
Americans. The Treaty was signed after America had won the Mexican American war. America
gained possession of the southwest states that had been part of Mexico for the price of around
eighteen million dollars. In Article IX of the Treaty, it states that the Mexicans shall be maintained
and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property, and secured in the free exercise of
their religion without restriction (Vargas 139). And as Rachel Rivera points out Article VII

nationally known, it had to have a leader. Reies Lopez Tijerina led the beginning of the
movement. Tijerina raised questions of Spanish and Mexican land grants. Tijerina fought to
uphold the Mexican American rights protected by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Tijerina
opposed the government for confiscating the Mexican American land illegally. In an open letter
from 1969 he writes from the Sante Fe jail. He compares the Mexican struggle with the black
struggle in America. The black Civil Rights movement of the sixties would help open the door for
other causes, such as the Chicano movement. In the movie Chicano! the blacks led by Martin
Luther King Jr., and the Chicano movement led by Corky Gonzalez plan for a poor people march

Without King s leadership the movement did not have the same effect. The different ethnic groups
could not organize as well as they could behind King s strong words. The movement would have
had positive effects on the rest of America. Unfortunately, as stated in the film, they never could get
it together.
The social awareness of the 1960 s was in part successful because of the youth. The Chicano
movement and many organizations began to grow in high schools

Toronto Blue Jays need to revitalize the old and outdated Rogers Centre to bring a greater positive

The Mongol Empire Under Genghis Khan
The Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan was a uniquely mobile yet centralizing force. They
changed Asia s circulatory system in a number of ways: Methods of getting resources were
diverted, routine and technologies for traveling were developed, and the idea of boundaries of
countries started to form. Therefore, the Mongol Empire altered Asia from a traditional world to a
modern world. Although Genghis Khanstarted his empire from a tribe, as a thoroughly modern
man , he shaped the modern world of commerce, communication, and large secular states more
than any other individual. (Weatherford:267) In this essay, I agree with Weatherford s idea for I
would argue that the modernized commerce was based on a strong military and organized order...

These examples of trade showed that people sold, bought, bartered on the continent of Asia.
Genghis Khan also inherited trading as he was ruling his empire, he took the disjointed and
languorous trading towns along the Silk Route and organized them into history s largest free
trade zone. (Weatherford:19) But more importantly, due to the hostile environment, the
Mongols also created another way of getting resources from fighting and kidnapping. Temujin s
mother was originally the wife of the Merkit tribe, however, Temujin s father kidnapped her
from Merkit. Therefore, after Temujin grew up, the Merkit tribe kidnapped Borte for revenge.
When Temujin decided to get his wife back from the Merkit by using his violence, he took the
first step of becoming the greatest conqueror in the history. Similarly, after the rising of Mongol
empire, Genghis Khan reorganized his military. He divided tribes into different armies and point
his generals to lead every specific military. In this way, people are no longer fighting as tribes
and obeying their patriarch; instead, they will all admit Genghis Khan is their only emperor and
the only one they are fighting for. With this well regulated military, the Mongols first conquer a
piece of land, then they tax the people on that pieces of land; otherwise, these local people will be
killed. After collecting all the taxes and fees from the local government , the Mongol Empire used
this money to buy their horses and corselets. The

Africans arrived in colony of Virginia, where institution slaverydid not yet exist (Holt Brown,

However, a white neighbor took advantage of the situation years later and petitioned the court for a

Unfortunately, this seemed to be a forward moving trend and the elite property owners were
witnessing indentured servants become property owners (PBS, n.d.). Indentured servants were
treated differently dependent upon the location where they contracted and their master (Sarah,
Caroline, Allyson, n.d.). Another case demonstrating how blacks and whites were treated equally
initially is the case of Elizabeth Key, a biracial woman, who fought in court for the freedom of her

duct sizing method namely equal friction method, modified friction method (static regain
method) and velocity reduction method. In present day the use of manual duct calculator is
normal and computer aided duct design is becoming more popular. Also to learn the friction
chart is very important to use this manual duct calculator because these are the foundation of the
other method. This will provide the necessary knowledge to duct design error and overcome to
these error. For designing the proper duct system requires load estimation which is used to
selecting the zone and air flow rate that the duct system distributes. Ones the air flow rate is has
been determined, the duct system component can be placed. This includes the supply and
returns diffusers and decides to air handling unit (AHU) or fan coil unit (FCU) is good for that
space. 3.1. 3.2. Classification of ducts The duct may be classified as follows: 3.2.1. Supply air
duct The duct which supplies the conditioned air from the air conditioning equipment to the space
to be cooled is called supply air duct. 3.2.2. Return air duct The duct which carries the
reciprocating air from the conditioned space back to the air conditioning equipment is called return
air duct. 3.2.3. Fresh air duct The duct which carries the outside air is called

Hell. The four lettered word that trembles in the throats of men and children alike; The images of
suffering, flame pits and blood, the smell of burning flesh, the shrieking of those who have fallen
from grace. For centuries man has sought out ways to cleanse his soul, to repent for his sins and
possibly secure his passage into paradise, all evoked by the fear of eternal damnation and pain. The
early 20th centuryphilosopher and existentialist writer Jean Paul Sartresaw life as an endless realm
of suffering and a complete void of nothingness. His pessimistic ideals of life followed through to
his beliefs on death, as death for him was a final nothingness. If death was a final nothingness,

Common in all religions, sin exists almost as a written law. For Christians it exists in the Ten
Commandments, the seven deadly sins. For Buddhists, it is the crimes against karma. Sartre,
however, does not address what prerequisites his hell contains. By conventional standards, its seems
that his characters rightfully deserve to be placed in hell.
While Estelle s hands were tarnished with the murder of her own baby, both Garcin and Inez are
indirectly responsible for the death of those close to them. For Sartre, all three characters are
pathetic examples of humankind. Believing that human beings can never hope to understand why
they are here, Sartre, like many existentialists, believes that each individual must choose a goal and
follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of death and the ultimate
meaninglessness of one s life. Nonetheless, Estelle, Garcin and Inez all exist with no real purpose
and therefore are damned to suffer not only in their life, but their afterlife.
Garcin may have been the closest to following a goal, but his act of fleeing from revolution and
his cowardly death shows that he has no real passion. Estelle is the most superficial of the group,
the one with least conviction. She simply uses people to her pleasure and herself as the object of
their desire. Inez sees herself as a quot;damned bitch quot; and believes that she is in fact damned
and belongs in hell.

Bereavement Counseling
Therapeutics for End of Life
Planning an end of life is very daunting and complicated task for the client, family, and
counselor (Wong, Hall, Justice, Hernandez, 2015). Professionals need to take the time to find out
what type of rituals does the clients partaken whether it s religious or not. Grieving persons that
believe in or has a relationship with a higher power or God or practices faith beliefs is known to
have lesser levels of grief tension during bereavement Juntenen and Schwartz (2016). Counsels can
include spirituality or belief in the end of life planning. An empirical therapeutic intervention called
life review is a great tool for counselors to use in the end of life planning. This therapeutic review
focuses on individuals association with spirituality (Wong, Hall, Justice, Hernandez, 2015). If the
counselor is not competent or comfortable discussing particular religions they can refer the client to

3 Themes Of Avatar
In the movie Avatar, James Cameron depicted 3 themes that I can see, these themes are
biodiversity, sustainability, energy pyramids. Avatar has a lot of themes but the ones i see and
think are the most important and noticeable are these. This shows us how humans are greedy and
selfish. All they care about is profit and self benefit. Most humans just think about themselves but
one day they will lose everything but the harm they did still affects others. Sustainability is a big
part in this movie because it shows how the environment keeps itself up the energy that flows

Analysis Of Roald Dahl s Dahl
I use to love reading Roald Dahl when I was a younger, I was surprised to find out that Roald
Dahl even wrote short stories for adults. Skin was one of those books for the more mature
readers. I would recommend this book for its writing style. The model! cried Drioli. Come on,
Josie! He was in a bustle of enthusiasm now arranging everything, like a child preparing for some
exciting game. Where will you have her? Where shall she stand? The way Roald Dahlwrites allows
you to feel the same enthusiasm that Drioli experiences. Drioli is making the foolish mistake of
getting a tattoo while he is drunk. Roald Dahl has a way of making a simple scenario feel like
much more. I enjoyed witnessing Drioli, who was ironically making the worse... Show more content

as much. I found it funny reading the debate and the hassle all the rich people were going
through for Drioli s priceless tattoo. Hence, I have come to conclude that money in today s
world has changed our behaviours and values; from the times when we valued helping and
sharing with people who are more needy than us. Those who have been winning in this world
been playing a sly, dishonest game; taking advantage of people like Drioli. Notwithstandingly, I
believe that these people are not the only one s to be blamed as Drioli tries selling himself for
money; he too wanted a part in this never ending rats race.
At first, I believed WW2 to be a devastating disaster that caused a number of humans to lose their
lives, due to weaponry allowing man to kill each other. Conversely, my opinion changed after
reading this short story. I realised that the loss of life was not the only problem, so was the
destruction of everything else including; properties, businesses, and jobs. The war was horrible, I
believe that the aftermath had an affect on everyone s jobs, livelihood, and the living conditions
degraded. Drioli was one such ordinary man,

Argumentative Paper Euthanasia
Should Euthanasia be legalized?
Because of remarkable advances in medical technology pharmacology that can artificially prolong a
patient s life, the field of medical ethics has been confronted with a new controversy: the
legalization of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide. The word Euthanasia comes from the
Greek word for eus which means godly or well, and thanathos which literally means death (F.A.
Davis Company, 2001, p. 476). Before its contemporary use, the word euthanasia meant a peaceful,
quiet way to depart from earth. However, in modern times, this concept has sparked an incredible
controversy. Today, the word euthanasia also commonly, but wrongfully, used for the practices of
physician assisted suicide (PAS).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Literally the oath reads ...that I will exercise my art solely for the cure of my patients, and will
give no drug, perform no operation for a criminal purpose, even if solicited, far less suggested
(North, 2002). In addition, they assert, that euthanasia and PAS violates their principals of
nonmaleficence (the belief of not inflicting harm on an individual) (Beauchamp Childress, 1989, p.
194) and beneficence (positive acts of preventing harm, removing harm, and promoting good)
(1989, p. 121). Additionally they claim that such crucial end of life decisions can be reduced by
proper and suitable palliative care, and efficient pharmaceutical pain management (Hendin, 2004, p.
9). Opponents of euthanasia and PAS also maintain that the sanctity of life overrules the right to
personal freedom and choice. Religion and cultural background play a major role in those attitudes.
Some claim that the concept that an individual has a right to die is rejected on the basis that death
is inevitability, not a right (Ledger, 2007, p. 81). Others quote the six commandment of the
Christian faith that states thou shall not kill (murder) (Exodus 20:6). Christians believe that human
life is sacred. The Catechism of the Catholic Church number 2281 denounces the act of suicide as a
contradiction to the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life
(Catholic Online, 2008). In

The artist creates a focal point with the only woman whose face viewers cannot see. The women s
dress appears to have caught on fire and produces luminosity around the chandelier, forming a
shadow within the corners of the room, which brings the viewers eyes from the main woman, up to
the chandelier, as shown in the picture to the left. Heffernan s paintings express her untamed
imagination with majestic fantasy, dream like subjects, yet she paints with a very classic technique.
When I first viewed The Self Portrait as Wunderkabinett, Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel came to
mind. Michelangelo illustrates the desire and describes the oneness that humans anticipate with
God through salvation. The artists painting technique is traditional, with the sensible and realistic
proportions of the human body, the distinguishing lines, the application of shadow, the intricate
detail on every object within the painting, and the use of traditional complementary color pairs.

Many Women s Centers have been changing the name of the center to become more inclusive due
to the definition of feminism and the values of the Women s Center. The idea of the Women s
Center is to provide information, education, and advocacy surrounding issues of women. At some
point the topic of women s issues get very burly with the topics of gender identification and the
population it is aiming to serve.

Others noted that it was difficult to serve all women in a diverse student population (Kasper, 2004,
p189). Going along with attendance is territorialism. Centers have reported that they have to be
carful not to plan activity s or events that may step on the toes of others. Centers have seen this
problem only grow with budgetary problems and cuts from the college (Kasper, 2004).
With the combination between all the problems it becomes had for Women s Centers to be
recognized for what they do and who is represented. Then the question is asked whom does the
Women s Center include? What issues should be addressed? Who are they supporting? Will
including more people affect funding? How would this effect current member of the Women s
Center? These are question that will have to be addressed when creating a Women s Center as
well as any center that addresses this population of people. In (re)conceptualizing these spaces, we
must think about ways to be more inclusive of the students who are marginalized within groups
(Nicolazzo Harris, 2014, p. 6)
Change to Centers
Many university campus Women s Centers in the United States have been making the change
from Women s Centers to a more gender inclusive name as a result of the values behind the
Women s Centers. Women s centers can play a significant role in promoting equity as long as they
are viewed as central vehicles in the equity process and are able to avoid marginalization
(Bengiveno, 2000, p 7).

Through the incorporation of figurative language in both Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and

Therefore analyzing the behavior that occurs during the process and the aftermath of their seclusion

Due to his tragic metamorphosis, he then realizes his need for shut[ing] himself all together in
order for his family s relief (Kafka 29). Also, when alienating self, it encourages Gregor s belief that
he trifles his family. Since he causes grief among them, it pushes his isolation and relationship
blockage further with his family. Thus, his silence and insecurity causes him to gradually think of
his self happiness rather than their judgment. Likewise, Shaffer also characterizes Alan as isolating
towards society and his family. Most importantly, Alan has a way of avoiding questions by either
ignoring them or contain an ulterior motive of changing the subject. Therefore when ask:

hiding his inner thoughts. Also through his actions, others view him as diverse from society. Since
Alan defends his emotions and isolates himself, when someone observes him, they see him as a
modern citizen for whom society doesn t exist (Shaffer 2.25). Through society s surveillance of
Alan, it proves his alienation and abnormality among others. Due to that, Alan continues to hide

between the modern, clean, ordered landscape of the MNU buildings and the desolate, junkyard,

Budget preparation is the principal mechanism for achieving items (1) and (2); item (3) typically
features as an element of budget preparation only in industrial countries, while item (4) is
essentially an issue in budget execution and cash management (see Sections 4 and 5). Moreover, no
system of budget execution or cash planning (the subjects of Sections 4 and 5) can do more than
mitigate the problems caused by poor quality or unrealistic budget preparation.
To understand the budget preparation process in a given country, it is important to: * assess the
basic soundness by judging the budget preparation system against certain internationally accepted
standards or budget principles ; * know where to find the rules governing the budget preparation
process; and * from those rules, identify who has the responsibility for what elements of the budget
preparation process. * Recognizing the usefulness of budget principles
Based on the objective macroeconomic assessment of available revenues and financing, ideally, the
expenditure budget should aim to be comprehensive, transparent, realistic, policy oriented, and
allow for clear accountability in budget execution. These concepts form a standard by which the
soundness of budget systems can be judged:

This has been duly detected by Robert Gordon in his quot;Has the New Economy rendered the

But for this increased productivity to trickle down to the rest of the economy a few conditions have

The transition from old technologies to a new one (the computer renders many a technology

old hardware, software, of altering management techniques or adopting new ones, of shedding
redundant manpower, of searching for new employees to replace the unqualified or unqualifiable,
of installing new hardware, software and of training new people in all levels of the corporation are
enormous. They must never exceed the added benefits of the newly introduced technology in the
long run. Hence the crux of the debate. Is IT more expensive to introduce, run and maintain than
the technologies that it so confidently aims to replace? Will new technologies be spun off the core
IT in a pace sufficient to compensate for the disappearance of old ones? As the technology mature,
will it overcome its childhood maladies (lack of operational reliability, bad design, non specificity,

Tort Law Reform And The Law Of Negligence
Introduction
A Tort is a legal construct and is not to be confused with a wrong in the general sense. It only
exists where the law exists The question is, Where there is no debate or argument that a duty of
care is owed to customers, public, employees where possibility of a risk may occur, that the scope
of liability in the tort of negligence or breach of duty.
In 2002, a Review of the Law of Negligence in Australia conducted by panel and chaired by the
Honourable David Ipp (known as the IPP Report) and the Recommendation 28 of the Standard of
Care and Breach of Duty and Remedies/ Damages. As Stuart and Clark summarise, there has been
major hurdles across the country and codifying common law in the NT would be fruitless. Tort Law
Reform. While the tort law reform process has been identified above as a driver in the move to
class actions, the system of reform undertaken at both federal and state levels has had a number of
important outcomes, namely reform to the law of negligence. Amendments to limitation periods,
and the capping, or extinguishing, of certain heads of damage.

Philadelphia Centennial Of 1876 Research Paper
The Philadelphia Centennial of 1876 is the origin starting point for a rebirth of the colonial
architectural heritage of America and the early English and Dutch houses of the Atlantic seaboard.
The increasing popularity of colonial influences on contemporary architecture motivated a highly
publicized tour of a group of architects in 1877 who observed and recorded Georgian and Federal
houses of New England. The simplicity of colonial designs and honest use of materials with more
economical plans than the recently popular picturesque homes also contributed to the growing
popularity of the style. Even a century after modern architecturewas introduced, Colonial Revival
motifs continue to be popular in new construction. These homes got their

Five Pillars Of Islam And Islam
Five Pillars of Islam All great things are built on a solid and strong foundation. The religion of
Islam is no different. The foundation on which Islam was built is known as The Five Pillars of
Islam. These are the essential duties that are required of all Muslims. The pillars are the shahadah
(declaration of faith), salah (establishment of the five ritual prayers), zakah (almsgiving), sawm
(fasting the month of Ramadan), and hajj (pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca). These five pillars
are in the central religious text of Islam, the Qur an, and are presented as the framework for
worship and a sign of commitment to faith (Esposito, Pillars of Islam ). The pillars are often
compared to a creed such as those seen in Christianity. While the two are similar in regards to the
first pillar, they differ in that the five pillars of Islamare acts or practices that Muslims must perform
while a creed, as defined by Merriam Webster dictionary, is a brief authoritative formula of
religious belief. Shahadah, salah, zakah, sawm, and hajj are the five obligations all Muslims have
to satisfy to live a respectable life according to Islam. They are the framework and foundation of a
Muslim s life. The first pillar, shahadah, is the declaration of faith. La ilaha illa Allah wa
Muhammadrasul Allah . This translates to There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet
of Allah. This is the shahadah. All faithful Muslims recite this and one must recite this sincerely,

History and Origin of the Vatican City
History of Vatican and Vatican City:
Vatican is regarded as the most ancient religious and political institution that exists in the modern
world because of its antique history. In addition to being the most ancient political and religious
institution, Vatican is the seat of independent, sovereign, and Free State of Catholic Churchs
Government. Actually, this institution is the shrewdest diplomatic political power across the globe
with its diplomatic quality being the most important worldwide. The shrewdness of its diplomatic
political power originates from its inclusion of the three major aspects of the Catholic Church i.e.
sovereignty, independence, and freedom. While it s diplomatic quality is significant around the
globe, its independence as a State is regarded as one of the newest (Manhattan, 1949, p.11).
Notably, the diplomatic and political power of Vatican can be understood through tracing its history
and the history of the Vatican City.
Origin of the Vatican City:
Vatican City was formed on February 11, 1929 following the signing of the Treaty of
Conciliation by Benito Mussolini and the cardinal Pietro Gasparri, the State Secretary of Pius XI.
While the signing of the Lateran Pacts between Italy and the Holy See paved way for the
formation of this city, the pacts were ratified on June 7, 1929 ( Vatican City in the Past , n.d.).
Since then, the nature of the Vatican City as a sovereign State that is different from the Holy See
is widely recognized under

The New Testament Of Jesus Christ The Savior
Starting in the years of Jesus Christ the savior, a parable is a widely used term in the Christian
religion. A parable is known as a story mainly used in the New Testament of Christianity. The
purpose of a parable is to portray some kind of moral meaning or to teach a lesson. This is
commonly done in the New Testament with a reading from one of the Apostles. These parables,
commonly found in the scriptures were usually told by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, four of
the apostles. The main focus was to illustrate a lesson of morals and values. A lot of these stories
told in the gospel are said to be simple, but create a visual image in the audience s head. Although
they may be simple to comprehend, the messages are very deep in meaning and are said to have
a spirituality to them. Even some of the shorter parables have been known to impact a person s
morality, but not as much extremity of the longer more in depth stories of the scriptures. One of
the most known parables, by Luke 10:25 67, is the reading of The Good Samaritan . It is very
deep and thoughtful in its meaning and can be seen as the top notch lesson in all of the scriptures.
It all started by a lawyer questioning Jesusto what he could do to be saved and earn salvation to the
holy land after death, being Heaven. Jesus being the figure he was, told the story known as The
Good Samaritan and what he would have to do. He started off by talking about a man who had

Reflection Of The Crucible
Understanding The Crucible begins with knowing the events that were taking place at the time
of its writing. The Crucible was a play that took place during the Salem Witch Trials and is used
as a metaphor for the McCarthy hearings that took place at the time of its writing. In the time
period the play was set, American Puritans are fearful that the Devil is out to get them and stop
their religious mission in America, as said in the Crucible: ...the Salem folk believed that the
virgin forest was the Devil s last preserve, his home base and the citadel of his final stand...the
American forest was the last place on earth that was not paying homage to God (Miller Act 1).
When the play was written, America was fearful of Communism and its spread, also called the Red
Scare. This is evidenced in a textbook passage that says Throughout the 1940s and 1950s America
was overwhelmed with concerns about the threat of communism growing in Eastern Europe and
China ( McCarthyism77). Even thought these dates are about 250 years apart, they are both
similar circumstances. The fear of the Devil in America in the 1690s led to false accusations
based on personal grudges or disputes, as evidenced in The Crucible when Rebecca Nurse, the
most devout Christian in Salem, is accused of ...the marvelous and supernatural murder of Goody
Putnam s babies (Miller Act 2 693 694). If a person didn t like someone, they could accuse them of
witchcraft and they would be tried by the court. These

The Heroes Of Ancient Greek Myths
Two Brilliant Heroes in Ancient Greek Myths Who has not heard of heroes in Greek mythology?
They are the role models, inspirations, and protagonists in myths. In ancient times, after a long
work day, the members of the community have little to no energy remaining, but utilize what
strength they have left in a magnificent manner. The citizens meet up, and entertain themselves
with myths regarding heroes, monsters, gods and goddesses. However, the most popular myths
revolved around heroes, and their adventures. In the majority of myths, heroes participate in
impossible adventures, and miraculously, came back with more confidence than they had when
they set out. The heroes in these myths are the ones that everyone loves and appreciates. Two
examples of famous heroes are Hercules and Achilles. They are two well known heroes that play
active roles in myths, and teach valuable life lessons. The two myths and the role of the heroes in
them that are analyzed here are two fan favourites: the myth of Hercules and Athena, and the myth
of Achilles and the
Trojan War. Hercules s adventure begins as soon as he is born. The fact that he is a product of
Zeus and a mortal enrages Hera, Zeus s wife, and Hercules suffers. As a result of this, Hera sends
two snakes to kill him in his crib. The infant Hercules is unusually strong and strangles the snakes
before they can assassinate him. As one can see from is, he is the most superior of all mortals, and

Sistine Chapel Choir Essay
Sistine Chapel Choir
The Sistine Chapel Choir was established in the late 1400 s which makes it one of the oldest
choirs in the world. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto,
tenor, and bass. Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section;
meanwhile, the soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the
choir, men were castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate.
The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The
famous reformer Martin Luther praised Josquin Desprez saying, He is a master of notes; they
do as he wills, as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery
there is very little information on his early life. Josquin Desprez started out as a singer for the
choir in 1489 to 1495. He eventually wrote fifteen settings of the mass. Josquin s music is filled with
a calm soothing effect. His music has a heavenly feel and an angelic echo that words cannot

Palestrina was a member of the choir until he married. He broke the celibate rule for members;
therefore, the church kicked him out of the choir. Although he was no longer a member for the
choir, he still wrote compositions for the choir. Palestrina wrote many different compositions. He
built up his predecessor s craft and refined them. His work is the pinnacle of renaissance
polyphony. His most important work is the Missa Papae Marcelli which saved polyphony music
from being discarded from the Roman Catholic Church. The Council of Trent decided the church
music was getting to the point where no one could understand the words. After hearing Missa
Papae Marcelli the council decided the words could be understood and should be kept; therefore,

Autobiography Essay
Autobiography
The title autobiography is ironic. This poem works on deception. It s simple but deliberate
deceptive as some emotions are quite dark. The poem characterises the illness and death of Louis
MacNeice s mother.
The poem starts off quite happy, the use of colour is important in this poem, as greensuggests
spring and happiness. Yellow suggests sunlight, youth and pleasant. Black suggests horrific and
ghastly images and dark also suggests horrific and frightening images.
The rhyming couplets give us a sense of ease in his childhood but the refrain Come back early or
never come introduces us to loss and abandonment. MacNeice gives his mother happy colours like
yellow, showing that he loved her, but he gives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The refrain come back early or never come refers to his mother, who died while his young. He
wants her to come back very soon or not to come back at all, it could be a direct plea aimed at his
mother. The refrain shows haunting quality which emphasizes MacNeice s sense of loss. The
Gentle, gentle, gentleness of his mother is opposite to that of his loud father. It indicates his love
for his mother opposite to his father, who I think he loathed.
The bright colours yellow and green which we met in the first three stanzas have now gone in stanza
four. He uses gothic colours black.
The use of the colour black there is important, as it represents death and fear. In the same stanza
MacNeice says, When I was five the black dreams came, nothing after that was quite the same .
Again, he was referring to his mothers death as when she died he started to get lots of nightmare
and his life was never the same.
In the next stanza when he says that the dark was talking to the dead, this is personification. Its
shows of the child s terror. MacNeice also says that the lamp was dark beside his bed, this shows
that things that usually bring MacNeice comfort aren t anymore and they are bringing him darkness
instead.
When he mentions Nobody, nobody was there , we can tell that because the word nobody is
repeated, it highlights the child s loneliness and terror. In the seventh stanza it says silent terror
terror is such a

Kate O Hare, Jack London, And Assata Shakur
The American judicial system is one that convicts and incarcerate prisoners for various crimes.
When someone commits a crime, it is the judicial system s responsibility to enforce and apply the
laws. Under United States legislation, criminals are innocent until proven guilty in a court trial, but
the judicial system during the twentieth century did not properly give them fair trials. Instead, the
court system convicted many prisoners guilty of crimes they supposedly committed. This situation
created the start of a new and corrupt judicial system because prisoners could not plead their case
in court. Kate O Hare, Jack London, and Assata Shakur provide an accurate and historical view of
the American judicial system as unethical because many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of convicts receiving fair trials and being treated equally, the judicial system
discriminated against poverty stricken people and allowed brutal treatment and conditions.
Prisons in America contained a high percentage of poor people because they could not afford
bail or lawyers. The judicial system had no respect towards the poor because they were viewed
as uneducated people. Since the rich had the finances to pay for lawyers and bail, they were less
likely to be incarcerated. Money showed respect, intelligence, and power for wealthy people.
Besides discrimination being an issue for the judicial system, unfair trials for convicts also
occurred. Prisoners were not given the chance to plead guilty or not guilty in a courtroom because
they did not have lawyers appointed to them. The judge solely decided whether to convict a
criminal guilty or not guilty of the crime they supposedly committed. It was common for prisoners
to be incarcerated for crimes they never committed because the judicial system allowed unfair trials.
Prisoners experienced brutal and inhumane treatments and conditions that include physical abuse,
unsanitary living environments, and the possibility of contracting diseases. The judicial system
selfishly altered the laws for their own well being. They benefitted from the changes and were never
held accountable for the acts they allowed and committed. This created the corruption in

Analysis Of The Article Ralph Waldo Emerson
Nhan Chau
Ms.Patton
English 3
10 September 2015 Aung San Suu Kyi Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American essayist,
philosopher, and poet, most of his philosophy is different from the real world. In the article Self
Reliance , Emerson s view of the non conformist is important for each individual in order for them
to be independent and follow their own thoughts. Each individual should believe in themselves,
value their own experience, and share with society. Based on Emerson s belief, Aung San Suu Kyi
is a non conformist because she is independent, has no fear, and believes what she does is right.
It is important for each individual to value their own self reliance, opinion, experience, believe
in themselves and be brave to do what they think is right. Believing in ourselves is the key to
being successful. Emerson comments, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true
for you in private heart is true for all men that is genius. (01). Emerson encouraged people to
believe in themselves, no matter what others thought. Each individual s mind has value and
society has no power to control us. We were born to enjoy life, so we have the power to do what
we think is right. Emerson also states, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it
is easy in solitude to live after our own, but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (05). People should stand up for
themselves and

Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose
to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These
stores are prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of
offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers,
allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention
the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I
obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions
were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my
free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take
this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that
are sold from these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts
/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry
those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when
approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted some of the images on Instagram and made
them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently.

The Cedar Bend Trip Essay Essay
When I heard about the Cedar Bend trip, the first thought that came into my mind was that I
have to avoid this trip. I tried a lot of things to get away from this trip, but every person. But now

be memorable forever. The bus ride, cutting the chickens, makesulters, ice cream ,to say goodbye

and reading the description about Cedar Bend. Now I am so glad I went and didn t back out. I
never had experience camping, being in the woods, or learning how to survive. I believe going to
cedar bend was one of the best decision I made.
On the way to Cedar Bend I wasn t that excited . I was nervous and card to the whole trip. How
will the people be, how will everyone react. I had a lot of different stories from friends good and
bad. Some Said the food doesn t taste good. The dogs are not friendly, the place where we stay is

Killing Rommel Book Report
Killing Rommel Killing Rommel by Steven Pressfield tells the story about an elite British
commando unit, the Long Range Desert Group, and their mission to roam the North African
desert. The mission was to stop Field Marshal Erwin Rommel and his Afrika Corps during World
War II. Rommel, also known as the Desert Fox , was a German army general that Hitler could
rely on for almost any mission given his exceptional tactics on the battlefield. Pressfield presents
the story as a first person account memoir of a fictional citizen soldier who goes by Lieutenant
Lawrence Chapman, a British Eighth Army officer. Chapman is later selected to be a part of the
Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) in 1942. Pressfield states how he did his best not to alter... Show

One fact that stood out to me was early on in the book when he described the heat situation
inside of an army tank and said, For every degree Fahrenheit rise outside, interior temperature
rose a degree and a half. Seventy out was 100 in... (16). This is astonishing to me that the troops
were in the desert with 100 degree weather and roasting in their tanks at 130 degrees. The novel
flows nicely, beginning with how Chapman describing his journey to the LRDG. It unravels the
mission, he and his comrades were ordered to do in the heat of World War II. There is no doubt
that Pressfield wanted to keep the story in first person to account for the events in Chap s
memoir. He states in the prologue that it was in his best interest to keep as much as he could
directly as Chap wrote while making it as easy to read as possible. This book is a work of
fiction, but it incorporates many facts and real people. I think he did a fantastic job. There is a
few confusing spots throughout the book when it gets into the technical stuff. One example is
trying to keep track of all the different army divisions. There was never a time I was bored reading

  • 2. Cloud Computing And Google App Engine Development Cloud Computing and Google App Engine development About cloud computing: Cloud computing is a term coined for a recent trend towards service oriented cluster computing /processing based on certain SLA and other benefits. It provides simplified and automated process for configuring, deployment, maintenance and easy process to manage the resources. The offering of different clouds (Azure, google, AWS etc.) may differ, but what s common among them is Virtualization and performance isolation for per user/application. Cloud computing can broadly be classified into 3 broad categories: Software as a service SaaS describes a system in which high level functionality software as an on demand is hosted by a cloud and shared to end client using thin client application via internet. The main feature of SaaS systems is that the API offered to the cloud client is for a complete software service. The SaaS Cloud provider may charge end user based on number of users or number of requests hit on hosted API. Example Sales Force. Platform as a service PaaS refers to the availability of scalable services through an interface from which restricted network accessible, applications written in high level languages (Java,.net, python etc.) can be created. Two examples of PaaS systems are Google App Engine(GAE) and Microsoft Azure. Infrastructure as a Service IaaS describes a services for provisioning virtualized operating system instances, storage, and network capacity under contract from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Killing Of Kitty Genovese Dorman Summary Is it the correct thing to do and our duty as humans to help each other out? In the article, The Killing of Kitty Genovese by Michael Dorman, the author describes how a young woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed while 38 neighbors watched from above. One man yelled out, Let that girl alone. In effect, the predator walked away. Immediately after the neighbors closed their windows he came ferociously and stabbed her four more times until she eventually bled out and died. Overall, in this situation was it truly that hard to pick up a cell phone and phone the police? The failure to take action can lead to many more fatalities and injuries in the long run as it did in the case of Kitty Genovese. People should be punished for not doing anything ... • 4. Media And Mass Media Deviance Media is the most effective method of mass communication. There are many different sources of mass media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news media, print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017). Considering all the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an influence on deviant behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance rather than reducing it. When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as behavior that is inherently bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that departs from the social constructs of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly used amongst mass mediato entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent social constructs to make a profit. Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there wouldn t be any motive behind showing them. All things considered, what the media covers and how much they chose to cover has significantly changed over the years, the most apparent in crime coverage. This consistent coverage of crime gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the media. They can feel a part of the intensity of an investigation, cheer on the enforcers, become immersed in their stereotypes. On the other hand, they can appreciate deviance for its resilience to overcome and resist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Use Of Metal Detectors In School Shootings School shootings have been on the rise in the United States since the early 80 s, questioning the safety and security of schools all across the country. Lots of ideas have come up for trying to keep weapons out of schools but the idea of having metal detectors has stuck and on paper seems to be a viable option for schools but in real use they have lots of issues. One of the biggest problems with using metal detectors in public schools will be cost. Cost affects many different things to do with the metal detectors, two of the major factors being proper trained staff and paying for repairs. Another issue with metal detectors are they are slow, make kids late to class and also make kids dread going to school in the morning. There could be compromises made like alternative options like random checks or quick pat downs but getting rid of this style of security would be better all together. Metal detectors should not be used in schools because they make students late to class, cause anxiety and are too expensive to be used in public schools. Metal detectors are making kids tired and late to class because the process is so lengthy. Ms. Dunley, a teacher who works at a school where metal detectors are being used says She marks several people late everyday because they are being held up by the metal detector. The time that is being consumed by the metal detectors not only wastes class time but kids have to arrive hours before school to wait in line to get passed the metal ... • 6. Adults And The Influence Of Empathy In Adults As with many other skills, empathy is a learned skill that requires an awareness that other people think, feel, and behave in ways that are both similar and different from one s self, or put simply, being able to relate to and understand what another person is experiencing or feeling (McDonald Messinger, 2011). One of the first experiences that people have with empathyfrequently appears as a baby when we hear another infant cry (Szalavitz, 2010). Other research has shown that infants not only favor adults who appear to be more helpful, but they also tend to offer voluntary help to adults who appear to be having difficulties when reaching for something (Szalavitz, 2010). Therefore, according to this research, it might be suggested that whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Does Bridget Jones s Diary Relate To Belonging Bridget Jones s Diary, a british american romantic comedy film based in the early 2000 s of London. The film starring Renee Zellweger(Bridget Jone) for the 30 year old young working women through her romantic struggles in the single life of london. Our main character bridget spends the first half of the film having a intimate relationship with her boss, Daniel Cleaver (the lovely Hugh Grant) that she work very hard for. Only to find later that he is cheating on her, she then make the change to spend more time on herself. Toward the end of the movie it is clear that Ms.Bridget Joneschoses to start a relationship with Mark Darcy(Colin Firth). One of the main themes in this film is intimacy vs. isolation. Many young adults in the intimacy vs isolation stage define themselve based on the relationships that they have. Finding meaning in this outside of themselves is an important of new adulthood. • 8. The Theory Of Free Market Economics When I came back to Oregon after spending four years in the Marine Corps, I quickly became interested in politics. In 2013 I was introduced to the concepts of free market economics, a system where the consumer decides the prices of goods or services without the intervention of the government or any other authority. In Sandel s Justice I found that his writing on libertarianismto be somewhat confusing and written with an agenda. Sandel quotes Nozick saying, only a minimal state, limited to enforcing contracts and protecting people against force, theft and fraud is justified. I believe Sandel uses this as an attempt to explain the Non aggression principle, without actually explaining anything in depth. The non aggression principle the NAP is easily the most important aspect of having a free market. The number one misconception that people have about libertarian beliefs and the free market is that with deregulationcomes anarchy (a perpetual state of chaos, without rules.) The non aggression principle is the key component that makes libertarianism work. A free market if followed offers a maximization of economic and monetary security if the NAP; it leads to complete non interventionist economy. The best way to maximize peace is to remove any justification for dynamic, aggressive force (i.e. Institutions of the state) the concepts of government welfare programs can be taken over by the moral obligation to help your fellow man. Historically the state breeds war, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Flawed Performance Appraisals The performance appraisals process is flawed in many ways. Lack of preparation, time, training, and professionalism are a few examples of how the system is flawed. The individual completing the application often has many tasks that supersedes taking the appropriate time necessary to accurately keep notations of an employee s performance throughout the year. The lack of time leads to an employee receiving a performance review on the most recent accounts of his or her job performance instead of his or her performance throughout the entire year. Lack of professionalism can also hurt the appraisal process. An employee should be rated by his or her job duties instead of the personal opinion or feelings the manager or supervisor completing the form. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The job description for each position is different and so should the evaluation process and questioner. Each department in an organization needs to have guidelines set forth outlining the duites, expectations, training model, and professional code and consistency among employees are critical to the professional appraisal evaluation process. Each employee must be held to the same accountability or the evaluation process becomes tainted by lack of consistency. Management should always focus on the appraisal process as another of their job duties instead of over thinking the task and rating an employee out of fear and retaliation or to prevent an employee from receiving a raise or promotion. In addition, the for the appraisal process to be beneficial to the company the outcome has to be to protect the company from liability or litigation from a disgruntled employee and to boost the companies overall productivity ratings. When an employee believes he or she has a hand in creating the plan to evaluate and change his or her performance the changes are more likely to last rather than being told what changes need to ... • 10. The Food On Biola University Is All Provided By Bon Appetite The food on Biola University is all provided by Bon Appetite. In the beginning, I did not know that Bon Appetite s food was Certified Humane so I decided to show support of humane treatment of animals by going on a vegetarian diet. Since I could not go off campus to buy Certified Humane groceries nor could I really afford buying healthy groceries, I decided to go vegetarian. I did the vegetarian diet for two weeks and obtained protein through nuts, beans, and peanut butter. When I was participating in the diet, I realized how common meatwas a part of the dishes served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was often a central part of a dish, and meat was always served for every meal. While protein is an essential part of a healthy diet, the amount offered is more than needed. After this exercise, I am willing to consider giving up chicken or pork. I also definitely suggest going on a vegetarian diet for at least a week or two to experience what it is like. I gained a broader perspective when I did this diet and learned how vegetarians got their protein, why vegetarians did their diet, and obtained a common ground to discuss about with vegetarians or vegans. I find that a vegetarian diet is a lot easier than a vegan diet. Perhaps one should participate in a vegetarian diet for a week and then a vegan diet for another week. In addition, to fully understand the purpose of such diet and effects of such diet, one should perhaps journal their experience, note down what they would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Supply and Demand Aggregate Supply and Demand Economic Critique Rachel Middlebrook ECO/372 February 4, 2014 Rick Pretzsch Supply and Demand Economic Critique The United States economy is determined by a number of factors, such as; gross domestic product (GDP), unemployment rates, consumer income, and interest rates. Everything the U.S. produces is measured by the GDP. When the GDP turns negative, the economy can enter a recession. If this negative GDP continues for years the country is considered in a depression. Supply and demand are the forces drive the U.S. economy. Supply includes employment and natural resources such as oil. Demand, or personal consumption, drives 70% of the economy. The current spiral of the United States economy can be attributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Consumer Confidence Index is watched by stock market analysts and investors to get an idea of whether consumer spending will continue to drive the economy. The U.S. is also facing income inequality, one quarter of Americans make less than $10 per hour, and this is income below poverty level. Many lower wage workers receive no health insurance, pension plans, no sick or vacation days. Recent government tax policies have helped rich investors more than the low wage earners. Technology and outsourcing has increased inequality. Emerging markets of other countries are seeing increases in their income as they become more competitive in the global marketplace. Overseas work forces are becoming more skilled and sophisticated in managing their economy; as a result, wealth is shifting to those countries. Interest rates control the flow of money in the economy. High interest rates curb inflation, but also slow down the economy. Lower interest rates stimulate the economy, but could lead to inflation. Americans must know whether rates are increasing or decreasing, and what other economic indicators are saying. The target interest rate, or short term interest rate is controlled by the Federal Reserve. Long term interest rates are market driven. The global average interest rate for long term debt is the result of global demand for credit compared to global supply of saving. It doesn t seem clear if the country is still rising from its ... • 12. The Effectiveness Of A Connection The Effectiveness of a Connection in Relation to a Tragedy As art becomes more prevalent, intricate, and sophisticated in culture so does its impact on a viewer. A viewer must experience a work of art and connect to it in order for it to be considered effective. Ajax by Sophocles can be considered a work of art because of its ability to connect to an audience. Sophoclesplay follows a warrior named Ajax who was threatening to kill Odysseus to obtain the armor he believed was rightfully his, which causes the goddess Athena to cast a curse leaving him blind with rage and in a state where he slaughters hordes of animals believing that they are his enemies. Ajax later becomes distraught to the point of suicide. Bryan Doerries produced a version of Ajax to relate to veterans through his company, Theater of War. This company s specific purpose is to de stigmatize psychological injury, increase awareness of post deployment psychological health issues, disseminate information regarding available resources, and foster greater family community, and troop resilience through the performance of Ancient Greek plays to military and civilian communities (Outside the Wire). Because of this purpose, the audience is able to form an intense connection with Ajax and fulfill the purpose of art. While looking at Aristotle s Theory of Tragedy and the six most important features of a tragedy, it becomes apparent that connection through all six features is the only way to create effective art. ... The Treaty was signed after America had won the Mexican American war. America gained possession of the southwest states that had been part of Mexico for the price of around eighteen million dollars. In Article IX of the Treaty, it states that the Mexicans shall be maintained and protected in the free enjoyment of their liberty and property, and secured in the free exercise of their religion without restriction (Vargas 139). Before the movement because nationally known, it had to have a leader. Reies Lopez Tijerina led the beginning of the movement. Tijerina raised questions of Spanish and Mexican land grants. Tijerina fought to uphold the Mexican American rights protected by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Tijerina opposed the government for confiscating the Mexican American land illegally. In an open letter from 1969 he writes from the Sante Fe jail. He compares the Mexican struggle with the black struggle in America. The current state for the Rogers Centre doesn t have the baseball atmosphere it once had when it first opened. Fans criticise about the stadium, but have no objections to the location of the stadium. They changed Asia s circulatory system in a number of ways: Methods of getting resources were diverted, routine and technologies for traveling were developed, and the idea of boundaries of countries started to form. Therefore, the Mongol Empire altered Asia from a traditional world to a modern world. Although Genghis Khanstarted his empire from a tribe, as a thoroughly modern man , he shaped the modern world of commerce, communication, and large secular states more than any other individual. Temujin s mother was originally the wife of the Merkit tribe, however, Temujin s father kidnapped her from Merkit. Therefore, after Temujin grew up, the Merkit tribe kidnapped Borte for revenge. When Temujin decided to get his wife back from the Merkit by using his violence, he took the first step of becoming the greatest conqueror in the history. Similarly, after the rising of Mongol empire, Genghis Khan reorganized his military. He divided tribes into different armies and point his generals to lead every specific military. In this way, people are no longer fighting as tribes and obeying their patriarch; instead, they will all admit Genghis Khan is their only emperor and the only one they are fighting for. With this well regulated military, the Mongols first conquer a piece of land, then they tax the people on that pieces of land; otherwise, these local people will be killed. CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY This project work is gives the fundamental principles of duct system or air distribution system design for multi story building. There are mainly three type of duct sizing method namely equal friction method, modified friction method (static regain method) and velocity reduction method. For centuries man has sought out ways to cleanse his soul, to repent for his sins and possibly secure his passage into paradise, all evoked by the fear of eternal damnation and pain. The early 20th centuryphilosopher and existentialist writer Jean Paul Sartresaw life as an endless realm of suffering and a complete void of nothingness. For Buddhists, it is the crimes against karma. Sartre, however, does not address what prerequisites his hell contains. By conventional standards, its seems that his characters rightfully deserve to be placed in hell. While Estelle s hands were tarnished with the murder of her own baby, both Garcin and Inez are indirectly responsible for the death of those close to them. For Sartre, all three characters are pathetic examples of humankind. Believing that human beings can never hope to understand why they are here, Sartre, like many existentialists, believes that each individual must choose a goal and follow it with passionate conviction, aware of the certainty of death and the ultimate meaninglessness of one s life. Nonetheless, Estelle, Garcin and Inez all exist with no real purpose and therefore are damned to suffer not only in their life, but their afterlife. Garcin may have been the closest to following a goal, but his act of fleeing from revolution and his cowardly death shows that he has no real passion. The citizens meet up, and entertain themselves with myths regarding heroes, monsters, gods and goddesses. However, the most popular myths revolved around heroes, and their adventures. In the majority of myths, heroes participate in impossible adventures, and miraculously, came back with more confidence than they had when they set out. The heroes in these myths are the ones that everyone loves and appreciates. Two examples of famous heroes are Hercules and Achilles. There was never a time I was bored reading which is why I would recommend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
