Massive Tourism Project The Peoples Republic of China which is called Exhibit and Travel Group
(ETG) has made a plan with the state government of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia to
initiate the development of a massive tourism project. Certainly, it plays an important role on
offering some benefits to Yapese people. For instance, the crush of tourism in Yap led to a
drastically development of local economy. It was, however, generated a considerable numbers of
problems to the people of Yap because of the massiveness of the extent of the tourism. According to
Bill Jaynes and Bernadette Grong, they claim that many Yapese believe that the development will
cost Yap its identity and that it also has a potential to destroy its environment (Jaynes and Grong,
2012). The population of Yap is too small for such a massive project to generate. The island is
certainly not a such big place to hold this incredible project. Of the 10,000 of the estimated
population which is about 11,000 people, the massive tourism project claims to offer jobs (Weekly,
2012). However, those people are satisfied with their living conditions and do no have extravagant
hopes to have extra earnings. They are indeed worried about their Yapese culture would be eroded
because of the mass of foreigners crushing to their island and develop their business. Father
Hagileiram declares that he is concerned that increasing tourism could lead to an erosion of Yap's

Abstract The physician shortage is of highest concern in the United States, especially since the
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been passed. The question is, do we really have a
physician shortage? Is it by geographical region or by specialty? I will explore this question and
have several different solutions to the physician shortage problem. Physician Shortage 3 We have an

In 2014, two Polynesian mothers and babies were infected. In 2015, from February through April,
seven thousand cases in northern eastern states as well as Brazil and Colombia were reported. In
2016, Zika Strategic Response, is a plan aimed to helping affected countries focusing on managing
and preventing the spread of the virus, received donations from thirteen donors in the amount of
$23.9 million dollars. In 2017, candidates are being evaluated during trials of a possible vaccination.
Environmental Health and Effects
Consequently, the spread of the Zika virus from its originating countries of Africa and Asia, to
American countries has linked the virus as an ongoing epidemic. Due to climate changes, warmer
winter temperatures, there is an increase of egg survival (Ali, 2017). Warmer spring, summer, and
fall temperatures may also lengthen the season transmission of the virus in temperate regions as
well. In addition, the spread of the flu– like virus in humans is is also due to natural disasters, such
as, earthquakes and hurricanes destroying homes forcing residents to sleep outside exposing
themselves to infected mosquitoes. International travelers are also at potential risk of contracting the
virus, especially in industrialized countries. Furthermore, pregnant women or women of child
bearing age should refrain from traveling to countries that are known for the Zika mosquito
infestation.

Becoming A Physical Therapist Essay
Recently I found myself suspended 500 ft up in the air on the edge of a cliff in Yosemite Valley
wondering how I would make my way to the top. My muscles were tense having just hiked seven
miles. We had been hiking since four that morning and the trail was much more intense than initially
suspected. But as I hung from the rope attached to my harness, I fully realized the importance of
good health. The physical, mental, and spiritual strength needed to continue up the mountain came
to me and my need of adventure was supported by my good health. As a physical therapist I would
strive to help others obtain optimal health through movement so they can better listen to adventures'
call. This last summer I worked at a camp as a girls counselor. One of my campers was from Los
Angeles and a complete city girl. She accidently signed up for Wilderness camp instead of Base
Camp. At Wilderness, we get dirty and have no mode of transportation to get to meetings (which are
more than a mile away) other than our feet. One of my favorite activities we do is hike up a creek .
My camper, Jada, found this idea daunting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a physical therapist I would strive to provide integrated healthcare for all of my patients. This
means not only would I strive to promote greater mobility, but I would also strive to impart a shared
vision of optimal health, which includes emotional, spiritual and mental health. Without choosing to
address these other areas of health, I feel my mission as a physical therapist would be incomplete.
Humans are complex beings with many needs. My philosophy for life has been to treat people with
a bit of extra kindness, for you never know what another is going through. I would eagerly apply
this philosophy to my work and take time to truly care about my patients and see them as more than
just a source of

The Creation Of Fema And The Federal Emergency Management...
The Creation of FEMA started out as a beautiful theory. Before FEMA we had an Acts constructed
to make the situation better but FEMA was constructed to assistance the situations first hand so that
the American people were catered to at a quicker response and in a manner that was assessed for
safety situations. "On April 1, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the executive order that created
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). From day one, FEMA has remained
committed to protecting and serving the American people. That commitment to the people we serve
and the belief in our survivor centric mission will never change." This is stated on fema.gov; this
shows that FEMA was designed to be the leaders in effect for disasters that ... Show more content on

In order to help the people further, FEMA absorbed other services thanks to the Executive Order
12127 in which President Carter merged many of the separate disaster–related responsibilities to
FEMA such as The Federal Insurance Administration, The National Fire Prevention and Control
Administration, The National Weather Service Community Preparedness Program, The Federal
Preparedness Agency of the General Services Administration, The Federal Disaster Assistance
Administrations activates from HUD, Civil defense responsibilities were also transferred to the new
agency from the Defense Department's Defense Civil Preparedness Agency. FEMA receiving the
power and leadership to direct other operations and creating them as one was a move to give the
people in need a service for whatever crisis that is affecting that said area. FEMA has a long history
from being created in 1979 and since then they have grown to be stronger with more power to do
things for an area such as Flint Michigan.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has had some downfalls within their
missions as does any organization, however, they still lead a very positive and contributing lending
hand when in times of need. Their goal and ultimate mission, according to the official website of the
Department of Homeland Security, is to "support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a
nation we work together to build, sustain and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against,

The Zika Virus Outbreak
The Zika virus outbreak has been a hot topic of discussion lately. Within the past year, news stations
all over the United States have been talking about it. The virus has been around since the 1940's, so
why is it just now being talked about worldwide? This is because it has recently spread to the
Americas, and the World Health Organization declared the Zika virus as an international public
health emergency on February 1st, 2016. "The agency said the emergency is warranted because of
how fast the mosquito–borne virus is spreading and its suspected link to an alarming spike in babies
born with abnormally small heads –– a condition called microcephaly –– in Brazil and French
Polynesia" (Michael Pearson 2016). The virus is transmitted directly ... Show more content on

Scientists had been conducting "routine surveillance" for yellow fever within the Zika forest, and
realized the test results were in fact not yellow fever, but a different virus they decided to call Zika
(World Health Organization 2016). That year, the same scientists decided to isolate the virus from
the monkey so that they were able to conduct more research on it. They learned that specifically the
Aedes mosquito, which they later caught in the Zika forest, transmits the virus. The name Zika
comes from the Zika forest in Uganda, which translates to "overgrown forest" in Ugandan. In 1952,
the virus was discovered in humans from Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzanian. The
original recipients had mild symptoms including: fever, rash, joint pain, and red eyes; it seemed to
be something that wasn't much of a concern. The virus then spread to Asia "The known geographical
distribution of Zika expands to equatorial Asia, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan,

ZIKV Case Study
Relative to many other viruses previously studied in this course, discovery of the Zika Virus (ZIKV)
is a fairly recent development. ZIKV was first isolated in 1947 from the serum of rhesus monkeys
located in the Zika Forest of Uganda. These monkeys were displaying signs of fever and served as a
sentinel animal for the surveillance of Yellow Fever Virus (YFV). Approximately nine months later,
ZIKV was isolated in the same region from the Aedes africanus mosquito species (Seitz, 2016).
ZIKV primarily infected monkeys in an enzootic mosquito–monkey–mosquito cycle, with only
occasional transmission to humans. In 1952, ZIKV was first reported in humans, but remained
confined to Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. Very few reports ... Show more content on

ZIKV preferentially infects and injures neural progenitor cells (Tang et al., 2016). A study in Rio de
Janeiro tracked 88 pregnant women who reported potential symptoms of ZIKV infection (Brasil et
al., 2016). A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test confirmed a ZIKV infection in 72 of these
women who were between 5 and 38 weeks of gestation. Fetal ultrasonography was performed in 42
ZIKV–positive and 12 ZIK–V negative pregnant women. In 12 of the 42 ZIKV–positive and none
of the 16 ZIK–V negative pregnant women, fetal abnormalities including central nervous system
defects were observed. These studies led World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other health authorities to publish recommendations for
pregnant women living in countries affected by the ZIKV epidemic. Because of these recent ZIKV
outbreaks and the potential for complications resulting from infection, ZIKV is an important
emerging pathogen. ZIKV is an arbovirus of the Flaviviridae family, which includes dengue, West
Nile, yellow fever, and Japanese encephalitis viruses, that causes a mosquito–borne disease
transmitted by the Aedes genus of mosquito. As with other flaviviruses, the approximately 11 kb
positive–sense, single stranded Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) molecule encodes seven nonstructural
proteins and three structural proteins. Virus replication occurs in the

History Of The Palauan Island
In 1986 a Compact of Free Association was drafted and signed between Palau and the United States,
and in 1994 began its enforcement, granting de jure and de facto independence to the small nation.
This compact has many economic and military provisions, aiming to make Palau self–governing and
self–sufficient and also allowing Palau to make use of American aid and military protection
(Compact of Free Association 1986). There are two other nations that are signed to similar
compacts, including the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. This makes the
Micronesian nations very young, breaking from being American territories only recently. There are
no political parties in Palau and all representatives are independents (The ... Show more content on

From 1300 CE to roughly the time of colonization was known as the Stonework Era, where the
population had fully returned to the shores and stony areas. It was marked by large stone structures
and a turn to subsistence agriculture based on pondfield cultivation. Oral history tells that the
tarraced and leveled archetecture of the Earthworks and Stoneworks eras were used so that the gods
may travel between the upper and lower worlds with ease. Consequently, it was seen that those that
built their villages higher would be closer to the gods. The various structures have been given
creation stories devoted to certain gods depending on the clan (Liston and Miko 2011). There is a
wealth of petroglyphs in Palau left behind by ancestral Palauans, such as one on Ulong island that is
66 feet long which contain boats, human figures, and other more abstract marks which has been
connected to the cultural hero Orachel (Parmentier 1987). The islands also were marked by rather
constant fighting between various clans in the pre–colonial period. These conflicts were split into
two primary groups: raids that involved small parties seeking the head of a single individual or all
out wars that would often conclude in the destruction of villages. Headhunting was a common
occurrence, and claiming the head of a rival was seen as a way to gain political power and glory.

Personal Narrative-Appreciative Analysis
I watched with new eyes the sun shed it's ray of light upon the earth, which stood cuffed at the
palms of adversity. I heard with new ears the sound of lonely cries echo. It would be the perspective
from which I stood, that would recognize our obstacles as infinitesimal. These were the first words, I
wrote when I first became fond of writing. I learned to be appreciative of the gift that enabled one to
see things in new colors, new lights, and capture their definition, the best way fits. This was the
optimism that paved the way for my dreams. Throughout my academic endeavors, I have shown a
drive to lead; a drive to assist those less fortunate through community service and improve fluency

A Brief Note On The Economy Of Palau Essay
The economy of Palau has been dominated by the tourism, subsistence agriculture, and the fishing
industry . The Palauan government continues to be the country's largest employment provider with
per capita income of over $11,000 per annum . The country is still using the U.S dollar as their
currency. Foreign aid consist of around 20 percent of their GDP and finance about 50 percent of
government spending . The Palauan economy has been estimated to grow by 9.4% in the FY2015 .
This growth is expected to be driven by the increase in tourist arrivals especially from China. But,
the economy has been facing the challenges of less facilities to accommodate the influx of tourists
into their economy. Therefore, revenues generated from their tourism industry are offset by the high
importation of construction materials for tourism related accommodation and high import bills on
fuel . d. Goals The overall goal for Palau as articulated in their Medium Term Development Strategy
2009–2014 is to "achieve a sustained and widespread improvement on the Palauans general standard
of living while preserving their cultural and environmental values" . They have identified key
strategic priorities that will ensure the effectiveness of their medium term development framework.
This include the protection of their environment, culture, political stability, public security and civil
order, and effective relationship with their development partners . Most of these key strategies

Domestic and External International Factors on African...
Domestic and External Factors on African Macroeconomic Formulation Introduction Growth,
productivity and employment are the most common economic variables to reduce extreme poverty
and break poverty trap. Report from World Bank in 2007 revealed that one percent in GDP growth
results to 1.3% poverty decline in low–income countries. Moreover, development in the productive
capacity leads to reduction in sustainable poverty. With improvement in the economic growth, many
people have been removed from poverty during the past few decades in many developing countries.
However, poverty continues to be worsening in the 33% of the world's least developing African
countries. (African Economic Research Consortium 2008). While there are many factors influencing
growth, management of macroeconomic is very crucial to economic growth. Appropriate
macroeconomic policies are critical for wealth creation, sustainable economic expansion and
employment generating investment. Recent improvement in the economic performances of some
African countries was underpinned by the improvement in macroeconomic management. However,
inefficient macroeconomic policies are the features of many African countries leading to the
substantial growth disparities in the African continent. The role of productivity in accelerating
growth within an economy has been widely recognized by the neo–classical economic theory. The
economic growth of a country is the sum of the "growth of capital accumulation, growth of

The Economic Significance Of Pacific Island Tuna
This paper discusses the economic significance of tuna fishing, and related industries to island
nations in the Southwest Pacific, including the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia,
Kiribati, Marshall, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papa New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu,
and Vanuatu. Due to the limited number of exploitable resources available to these island nations,
tuna is an essential renewable resource, and, represents a multi–billion dollar–a–year global industry
for these communities. The Pacific Islands contribute a third of the world's annual tuna supply,
providing direct and indirect employment (roughly 7 percent of national employment), as well as
being a valuable source of government revenue. The main topics covered in this discussion paper
are: global significance of Pacific Island tuna, the value of tuna to the region, employment, exports
and benefits, and fishery–related industries.
Global Significance:
In recent years, the annual global supply of tuna (albacore, bigeye, skipjack, and yellowfin) has
averaged roughly 3.6 million metric tons (Joseph, 2000), with the Pacific Islands contributing
1million metric tons, nearly a third of global supply. Additionally, the Pacific Island nations supply
60 percent of canned tuna, and 30 percent of tuna bound for the Japanese sashimi market. In
comparison to the other three major tuna fishing areas in the Eastern Pacific, West Africa, and the
Western Indian Ocean, the contribution from the Pacific

A Lost City Found Among The Coral Reefs Of The Pacific
A lost city found among the coral reefs of the Pacific, Nan Mandol is now ruins adjacent to the
eastern shore of the island of Pohnpei that once was the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty until 1628
(Ayres et al. 1992). Recently, a research group from the Southern Methodist University led by Mark
D. McCoy found the earliest direct evidence of monument building at Nan Madol (McCoy et al.
2016). This is a significant discovery that pushes back the initial age of dynasty in the Pacific over
100 years, and provides anthropologist a new way to study the evolution of society. Before this
discovery, scientists had set the date for the first dynasty in the Pacific to around 1300 CE. McCoy
et al. (2016) stated, "The earliest evidence of hierarchical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The age they established was 1180 CE, over 100 years earlier than was previously assumed. The
reason for its enhanced effectiveness is based around measuring the basalt samples carbon 14
content, and comparing it with the carbon 14 activity in modern and background samples. "We
report the earliest secure dates on the construction of monumental architecture in the remote islands
of the Pacific located at the site of Nan Madol on Pohnpei Island in Eastern Micronesia. High–
precision uranium series dating of coral from the tomb of the Saudeleur Dynasty indicate political
control over the entire island was established by AD 1180–1200 (770–750 yr)" (McCoy et al. 2016).
This evidence is a strong indicator that Nan Mandol has had significant influence on other
communities within Eastern Micronesia due to its early establishment. According to Clark et al.
(2007), evidence drawn from monumental architecture is one of the greatest indicators for
prehistoric socio–political organization. Nan Mandol is therefore opening a door to study the
establishment of kingdoms in the Pacific. The island of Pohnpei is important for two reasons: First
its archaeology, second its geology. First, the date of settlement for Pohnpei has been estimated at
AD 1 (1950 cal yr BP) (Athens et al.1990). According to Hanlon et al. (1988),

The Influence Of Immigration To The United States
The United States is both a nation of and built by immigrants. The former implies that the "golden
door" that Emma Lazarus spoke of is responsible for the fabric of American society while the latter
suggests that the nation's immigrants contributed to the United States' rise to global leadership.
During a conference at Princeton University on Military Man Power and American Policy in 1942,
Dr. Edward Mead Earle stated that "[m]an power is a definite factor in the world balance of power,
and, what is more important, it is a constantly changing factor...the nature of these changes and their
probable effect...should be thoroughly understood in order that the national interest may be
safeguarded..." Today, the Correlates of War project applies this same logic in explaining the factors
that indicate national power. Three of those indicators – military personnel, urban population, and
total population – are directly influenced by immigration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

to work together for a common cause, forging a new American identity. The All–Volunteer Army

demonstrated that the "golden door" was open for some and closed to others. This monograph
argues that the United States should adopt a more open immigration policy, resulting in concomitant
changes to Army enlistment policy and greater access to a recruiting pool of new

Voting In Presidential Elections Essay
Introduction
The Constitution excludes a substantial number of American citizens from the democratic process.
Approximately four million Americans residing in the U.S. territories lack voting rights and full
voting representation in Congress; consequently, creating a second–class citizenship with partial
constitutional rights. These policies articulate the historically silenced voices of the people of the
U.S. territories by their "democratic" government. However, amending the Constitution does not
come without consequence: political pressures will maintain U.S. territory policy, fostering
resentment and inequality, and lowering the standards necessary to sustain a democratic society,
leaving the people of the U.S. territories less efficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Court ruled in Igartua de la Rosa v. United States that citizens of Puerto Rico could not vote in
presidential elections, following a previous decision in Sanchez v. United States, which similarly
denied Puerto Ricans presidential voting rights. Similarly, in Attorney General of the Territory of
Guam v United States, the court also denied the people of Guam the right to vote in presidential
elections.
Electoral College. The Courts based all three decisions on the application of an electoral college,
where electors?not the public?have the right to elect the President of the United States. Because the
states appoint electors, territorial residents cannot constitutionally vote for the President or Vice
President of the United States. As a matter of policy, this decision is very controversial since
Congress has allowed other out–of–state residents this fundamental voting right.

Spanish Empire Research Paper
The Spanish Empire was one of the biggest empires in the world also known as one of the primary
worldwide empires. Spain was an awfully capable nation in the 15 and 16th centuries. It driven
European exploration of the world, building the biggest colonies within the New World at the time
and it even made trade routes over the seas. The Spanish exchanged merchandise over the Atlantic
Sea, between Spain and its colonies within the Americas. They too exchanged over the Pacific Sea,
between Asian–Pacific nations and Mexico.
Spanish Conquistadors crushed the Aztec, Inca, and Maya Empires. They took huge domains in

Anyhow, at this time, Spain kept its huge overseas empire, and made it bigger. The Spanish Empire
went into conflict with the British Empire, which was attempting to take over more of America; the
French Empire; and the Dutch within the New World. Spain remained a major economic control
until it lost all its colonies within the Americas through revolutions.
Decolonization:
Spain decided to keep two colonies in its empire while in America: Cuba and Puerto Rico. It held
onto the Philippines and a few protected islands in Oceania, counting the Carolinas (counting the
Palau Islands) and the Marianas (counting Guam). In any case, when Spain lost the Spanish–
American War in 1898, it lost nearly all of these final regions. Spain kept control of the little islands
of Oceania (not counting Guam). Spain sold these islands to Germany in 1899. Spain attempted to
make up for these losses by making an another colonial empire in Africa. Spain controlled Morocco,
Western Sahara, and Equatorial Guinea, until decolonization within the 1960s and 1970s. The final

Compare And Contrast The Federated States Of Micronesia
Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is located in the south western Pacific between Japan and
Hawaii. FSM consist of over 4 islands and over 40 atolls with approximately 270 square miles of
land and more than one million square miles of ocean in the Pacific. FSM consist of four states; Yap,
Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae. Yap, Chuuk, and Pohnpei consist of both high islands and low islands,
whereas Kosrae consist of only one high island (Jimmy, 1997, p. 15). The states of FSM are unique
and diverse in many ways. Each island has its own tradition, customs, and languages. Today more
than 15 different languages are spoken throughout the states and its outer lying atolls. All states
maintain its matrilineal clan systems which are passed down through the mother's line. Each state
also maintains its traditional lineage of high chiefs and royalty within their villages today. The
lineage of royalty within each village is passed down to the eldest living male of each clan.
Although each island is unique in terms of its people, culture, traditions and languages, they share
the same political structure, physical formation, and other infrastructures that make up the Federated
States of Micronesia. The four States has a wide range of climates and experience different impacts

the islands fall under a Compact of Free Association with the United States. This allows the United
States to take full responsibility over FSM's internal and external affairs. In return the FSM allows
the United States to use the land and waters for military and security purposes. (Jimmy, 1997, p.

Stonewall Institute Of Learning And Enrichment Essay
This paper will cover and highlight the history and details of the Stonewall Institute of Learning and
Enrichment (SMILE), its pragmatic–rooted educational philosophies, and explain how education is
managed as a student progresses from Apprentice, to Journeyman, and finally to Master Mason,
after selecting his or her specific area of study for the future.
The Stonewall institute was founded in 1923 and funded with a $100 million grant donated by a
man referred to as Barnabas Robertos, a 33rd Degree Freemason who claimed to be from the
Federated States of Micronesia. Not much is known of Mr. Robertos, other than he was a quiet man
who loved Science, especially Chemistry, and always wore a distinctive hat. The money was
donated on the condition of future anonymity, and after the final brick was laid, Mr. Robertos
traveled to New Orleans and departed on the ship The Heisenberg was never seen publicly again.
The Institute, as it is often referred to, originally consisted on one building, and later divided up into
three main areas of learning for the Apprentices, Journeyman and masons, which roughly correlate
to elementary, middle and high school levels respectively. Over the years, it has expanded
dramatically, and now consists of over 15 buildings or areas covering 15 acres.
The philosophy of the Institute is based on the pragmatic approach to education and the classroom,
primarily the idea of always being able to adapt the classroom or material to be taught to whatever

forced to sign a document giving all of the Sultan's Properties in Palawan and Sulu – excluding
Northern Borneo – to Spain. In 1885, Spain relinquished all of its claim to Borneo to the British in
the Madrid Protocol of 1885. In spite of that, in 1906 and 1920 the United States formally reminded
Great Britain that Sabah did not belong to them and was still part of the Sultanate of Sulu on the
premise that Spain never acquired sovereignty over North Borneo [see Madrid Protocol] to transfer
all its claims of sovereignty over North Borneo to Great Britain on the Madrid Protocol of 1885.
This is so because the Sultan of Sulu did not include his territory and dominion in North Borneo in

North Borneo was never considered a dependency of Jolo. However, the British Government
ignored the reminder and still annexed the territory of North Borneo as a Crown Colony on July 10,

citizens that have the privilege of entering the U.S. without the need for a visa or time limit. These

Regarding denial of health services, Yamada talks about how COFA migrants were denied MED–
QUEST (a Medicaid program) benefits in July 2010 by the Hawai'i State Administration. It was
reinstated 4 months later because the denial was in direct violation of the Equal Protection clause of
the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Such discrimination is not only seen in our health
care system, but also within the confines of social and economic settings. Yamada suggests that
examining and countering "prevailing social forces" will help eliminate discrimination. By my
personal interpretation, he is saying we must realize that social forces – such as the criminal justice
system and the government – are shared by all of us as one single community in Hawai'i. By being
responsible and looking out for one another regardless of race or ethnicity, we can close the social
bridge that divide us. In other words, we must be proactive and bring to light the issues that face
Micronesian immigrants who are treated unfairly. Another brief policy report from the Hawai'i
Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice (HACLEJ) provides accounts of stigmatization by
governmental leaders towards COFA migrants. The report further goes on to explain how there is an
absence of interpreters available to help COFA migrants within labor, housing and court disputes.

An Interview to Compare Adult Learners
The purpose of this 10 minutes interview with three different individuals in age ranges of 20's, 40's,
and 60's is simply to give me a better understanding of how and where adult education practices.
With the use of some questionnaires, the three interviews have shown that in different age ranges
view learning differently. Everyone can learn new ideas and concepts even with age differences and
economic status but, what needs to be learned and the purpose of learning are different depending on
the age of an individual. The ability to keep information within an individual also differs due to
aging. The interview clearly shows that as an individual age, the ability to remember facts, dates,
and names decline and memory storage is not functional as it used to be. Therefore, one needs to
understand the age range of people encountered in life especially in regards to learning so that
effective strategies could be implemented.

The Problem Of The Zika Virus
The Zika virus is a virus that is mostly spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. It is a widespread
virus in Asia and Africa. This virus is not a new diseased that just developed, it has been around for
years. Zika was first exposed in Uganda in 1947. Nonetheless, fear didn't start arising until this year
2016. This virus is best explained as discomfort in the muscle, a fever, being weak and symptoms
possibly lasting for days. It's quite a different virus to detect compare to other viruses' symptoms.
Zika posts danger to the human body but more importantly, it places pregnant women and babies at
more danger than anyone else. This virus can be easily passed from a pregnant women to her fetus,
putting her life and her child life in danger. If the virus is transmitted to the embryo, the virus will
produce severe damage to the baby's growth and the women life. Considering this, we need to
extremely pay close attention to our health and this virus.
Zika, a mosquito virus that's newly spreading across America and other countries and currently
bringing a lot of challenges and causing public health crises and economic loss. Zika virus sickness
is a result of a contagious disease transmitted generally with the aid of Aedes mosquitoes. Zika virus
was first recognized in a caged rhesus monkey in Lake Victoria, in Uganda which advanced a fever.
Later researchers identified the virus that had sickened it. It was observed in a woodland in 1947.

Zika Virus In Brazil
Why is the Zika Epidemic Growing More Serious in Brazil? "The Zika police," which is composed
of 220,000 Brazilian soldiers and 46,000 health operatives, are visiting door–to–door in Brazilian
towns and cities to educate people about the Zika virus by handing out pamphlets (Rogers, 2016).
The Brazilian government has a commitment to eradicate the Zika virus because the Summer
Olympics are held in Rio de Janeiro in this August. Ramzy (2016) reports that an estimated 1.5
million Brazilians have been infected with the Zika virus. In 1947, the initial Zika was found in the
Zika forest in Uganda, from which the virus was named, since then the virus has gradually spread

Especially, the poor have little resources to protect from the mosquitoes such as repellents, window
screens, and air–conditioning (Jacobs, 2016). Most of the poor live in slum areas where homes are
built on top of each other, so that it is difficult to prevent contact with the mosquitoes (Rogers,
2016). If some of the neighbors did not care about the Zika virus, the mosquitoes would
dramatically increase in a slum. "Effective repellents are too expensive for many in a country where
the average wage is $626 per month, according to the government" (Rogers, 2016, p. A2). Some of
the residence in the slums do not allow the Zika police come into their house, and they may have
weapons. This is a reason why Brazilian government use the armed force in this campaign (Rogers
2016). It is obvious that the rich can protect themselves with some resources, but the poor face a
huge challenge to protect themselves from the virus. The Brazilian government is under criticism to
allow the Zika pandemic. Another important case of the Zika epidemic is that the Brazilian
government has neglected to improve the sanitation in slums. According to Jacobs (2016), Paulo

Automated Teller Machine : An Electronic Banking Outlet
AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINE
Abstract – An automated teller machine, also known as an automatic teller machine that enables the
customers of a financial institution to perform financial transactions, particularly cash withdrawal,
without the need for a human cashier, clerk.
Introduction – An automated teller machine (ATM) is an electronic banking outlet, which allows
customers to complete basic transactions without the aid of a branch representative or teller. Anyone
with a credit card or debit card can access most ATMs. The first ATM appeared in London in 1967,
and in less than 50 years, ATMs spread around the globe, securing a presence in every major country

There are two types of ATM installations: on– and off–premises. On–premises ATMs are typically
more advanced, multi–function machines that complement a bank branch 's capabilities, and are thus
more expensive. Off–premises machines are deployed by financial institutions and Independent
Sales Organizations (ISOs) where there is a simple need for cash, so they are generally cheaper
single function devices.
Most ATMs are connected to interbank networks, enabling people to withdraw and deposit money
from machines not belonging to the bank where they have their accounts or in the countries where
their accounts are held (enabling cash withdrawals in local currency). Some examples of interbank
networks include NYCE, PULSE, PLUS, Cirrus, AFFN, Interact, Interswitch, STAR, LINK, Mega
Link and Banc Net.
ATMs rely on authorisation of a financial transaction by the card issuer or other authorising
institution on a communications network. This is often performed through an ISO 8583 messaging
system.
Many banks charge ATM usage fees. In some cases, these fees are charged solely to users who are
not customers of the bank where the ATM is installed; in other cases, they apply to all users.
An ATM is typically made up of the following devices:
CPU (to control the user interface and transaction devices)
Magnetic or chip card reader (to identify the customer)

The main topics ... Show more content on

In short, the Pacific Islands are effectively the epicenter of tuna fishing globally.
Regional Value of Tuna Catch:
In the Pacific Islands region, the annual catch volume and volume per catch have increased over the
last thirty years (figure 2). Despite some annual variation, the catch volume has increased roughly
ten–fold from 1970 to 1999. Additionally, the value has increased dramatically from approximately
USD375 million in 1982 (Clark 1983), to USD1.2 billion in 1993 (World Bank 1995), to USD1.7
billion in 1995 (FFA 1996), and to USD1.9 billion in 1998 (Van Santen and Muller 2000). These
figures clearly indicate the importance of tuna fishing to the Pacific Islands' economies, with the
current annual tuna harvest valued at USD1.9 billion. The countries and regions within the Pacific
Islands have a combined GDP of USD17 billion (SPC 1998b), thus the annual tuna harvest
represents roughly 11 percent of the region's GDP.
Employment:
Much like the Energy sector in Canada, the tuna fishing industry is a massive employer in the
Pacific Islands. With a lack of formal jobs in the region, the importance of tuna–related employment
drastically increases. The areas of employment that tuna fishing generates includes: direct
employment on a fishing vessel, which is extremely labor–intensive, and employment connected to
the tuna industry, including indirect spinoff

A Disease Is A Structural Or Functional Disorder
A disease is a structural or functional disorder in humans that shows a series of specific symptoms.
Though it is up for discussion as to when a disease would be considered new, Levin's et al. (1994, p.
52–60) suggested, "A disease is recognized as new when its symptoms are distinct from any disease
that has come before". The enquiry into new diseases and how they come about sheds light into the
modern human society in whom the disease might penetrate from. Nevertheless the following essay
will put forward how humans are not always the hosts to new diseases and in fact may be imbedded
from animal species. Also the main factor that has been contributed is the speed of transportation of

In 1947, the Zika virus was first identified in a monkey that was being used to monitor the presence
of yellow fever virus in the Zika Forest of Uganda. A year later, the virus was also found in the
mosquito species, Aedes africanus, that was caught on a tree platform in the same forest. In 1952,
the first human case was detected in Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania in a study
demonstrating the presence of neutralizing antibodies to Zika virus. The first outbreak of the disease

Prior to the outbreak there were only 14 cases of human Zika virus that had been documented

Why Did Americans Need The Immigration Reform Essay
Why did Americans need the immigration reform build in the first place? Mexican immigrants have
been coming to the United States throughout this country through history, but it was a guest worker
program that started after World War II that set a stage for patterns for legal immigration we still see
today. From 1942 to 1964, the "Bracero Program", a guest worker program that brought 400,000
agricultural employers per year to the United States. This program had issues such as worker abuse
and low wage, so it ended in 1964. But the worker kept coming. In the early of 1970s, there were
more than 1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Still, most Americans did not
have strong opinions about immigration policy the way we do today. There were lots of groups had
interests to see the system change. President Ronald Reagan supported changing the laws, too, and
he was a republican. He said "I believe the idea of amnesty". After a year in fall, the bill finally
gained the legitimate moment in 1986 which was Immigration Reform and Control Act(IRCA). It
talked two of biggest issues at the time. The first one, it offered legal status for undocumented
immigrants who had been living the United States since before January 1, 1982, and the second one,
it penalized the employer who knowingly hired undocumented workers. The bill finally cleared in
the house senator, and signed by President Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986. The Immigration
Reform and Control Act(IRCA) was the

What are the disaster areas that tourist wants to go?
2. Why those people wants to try the disaster tourism?
3. What are the advantages that they can get in disaster tourism?
Discussion
Disaster areas/places There are a lot of disaster places in the universe but what I will write down is
the most disaster places in the Philippines that tourists always go. First is the Minor Basilica and
Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, this cathedral was originally the "church of
manila" established in 1571 by a secular priest, Juan de Vivero, who arrived in Manila Bay in 1566.
When the church was raised to a cathedral in 1579, a new structure made from nipa, wood, and
bamboo was constructed in 1581 by Domingo de Salazar, the first bishop of Manila. The new
structure was consecrated on December 21, 1581, formally becoming a cathedral. The structure was
destroyed by fire in 1583, which started during the funeral Mass for Governor–General Gonzalo
Ronquillo de Peñalosa in San Agustin Church that razed much of the

Massive Tourism Essay

  • 1. Massive Tourism Essay Xinyi Luo 10326488 IS 158B Term paper Massive Tourism Project The Peoples Republic of China which is called Exhibit and Travel Group (ETG) has made a plan with the state government of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia to initiate the development of a massive tourism project. Certainly, it plays an important role on offering some benefits to Yapese people. For instance, the crush of tourism in Yap led to a drastically development of local economy. It was, however, generated a considerable numbers of problems to the people of Yap because of the massiveness of the extent of the tourism. According to Bill Jaynes and Bernadette Grong, they claim that many Yapese believe that the development will cost Yap its identity and that it also has a potential to destroy its environment (Jaynes and Grong, 2012). The population of Yap is too small for such a massive project to generate. The island is certainly not a such big place to hold this incredible project. Of the 10,000 of the estimated population which is about 11,000 people, the massive tourism project claims to offer jobs (Weekly, 2012). However, those people are satisfied with their living conditions and do no have extravagant hopes to have extra earnings. They are indeed worried about their Yapese culture would be eroded because of the mass of foreigners crushing to their island and develop their business. Father Hagileiram declares that he is concerned that increasing tourism could lead to an erosion of Yap's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Becoming A Physical Therapist Essay Recently I found myself suspended 500 ft up in the air on the edge of a cliff in Yosemite Valley wondering how I would make my way to the top. My muscles were tense having just hiked seven miles. We had been hiking since four that morning and the trail was much more intense than initially suspected. But as I hung from the rope attached to my harness, I fully realized the importance of good health. The physical, mental, and spiritual strength needed to continue up the mountain came to me and my need of adventure was supported by my good health. As a physical therapist I would strive to help others obtain optimal health through movement so they can better listen to adventures' call. This last summer I worked at a camp as a girls counselor. One of my campers was from Los Angeles and a complete city girl. She accidently signed up for Wilderness camp instead of Base Camp. At Wilderness, we get dirty and have no mode of transportation to get to meetings (which are more than a mile away) other than our feet. One of my favorite activities we do is hike up a creek . My camper, Jada, found this idea daunting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a physical therapist I would strive to provide integrated healthcare for all of my patients. Before FEMA we had an Acts constructed to make the situation better but FEMA was constructed to assistance the situations first hand so that the American people were catered to at a quicker response and in a manner that was assessed for safety situations. "On April 1, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the executive order that created the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). From day one, FEMA has remained committed to protecting and serving the American people. That commitment to the people we serve and the belief in our survivor centric mission will never change." This is stated on fema.gov; this shows that FEMA was designed to be the leaders in effect for disasters that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to help the people further, FEMA absorbed other services thanks to the Executive Order 12127 in which President Carter merged many of the separate disaster–related responsibilities to FEMA such as The Federal Insurance Administration, The National Fire Prevention and Control Administration, The National Weather Service Community Preparedness Program, The Federal Preparedness Agency of the General Services Administration, The Federal Disaster Assistance Administrations activates from HUD, Civil defense responsibilities were also transferred to the new agency from the Defense Department's Defense Civil Preparedness Agency. FEMA receiving the power and leadership to direct other operations and creating them as one was a move to give the people in need a service for whatever crisis that is affecting that said area. FEMA has a long history from being created in 1979 and since then they have grown to be stronger with more power to do things for an area such as Flint Michigan. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has had some downfalls within their missions as does any organization, however, they still lead a very positive and contributing lending hand when in times of need. • 26. The Zika Virus Outbreak The Zika virus outbreak has been a hot topic of discussion lately. Within the past year, news stations all over the United States have been talking about it. The virus has been around since the 1940's, so why is it just now being talked about worldwide? This is because it has recently spread to the Americas, and the World Health Organization declared the Zika virus as an international public health emergency on February 1st, 2016. "The agency said the emergency is warranted because of how fast the mosquito–borne virus is spreading and its suspected link to an alarming spike in babies born with abnormally small heads –– a condition called microcephaly –– in Brazil and French Polynesia" (Michael Pearson 2016). The virus is transmitted directly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists had been conducting "routine surveillance" for yellow fever within the Zika forest, and realized the test results were in fact not yellow fever, but a different virus they decided to call Zika (World Health Organization 2016). That year, the same scientists decided to isolate the virus from the monkey so that they were able to conduct more research on it. They learned that specifically the Aedes mosquito, which they later caught in the Zika forest, transmits the virus. The name Zika comes from the Zika forest in Uganda, which translates to "overgrown forest" in Ugandan. In 1952, the virus was discovered in humans from Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzanian. The original recipients had mild symptoms including: fever, rash, joint pain, and red eyes; it seemed to be something that wasn't much of a concern. The virus then spread to Asia "The known geographical distribution of Zika expands to equatorial Asia, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan, where the virus is detected in ... • 30. ZIKV Case Study Relative to many other viruses previously studied in this course, discovery of the Zika Virus (ZIKV) is a fairly recent development. ZIKV was first isolated in 1947 from the serum of rhesus monkeys located in the Zika Forest of Uganda. These monkeys were displaying signs of fever and served as a sentinel animal for the surveillance of Yellow Fever Virus (YFV). Approximately nine months later, ZIKV was isolated in the same region from the Aedes africanus mosquito species (Seitz, 2016). ZIKV primarily infected monkeys in an enzootic mosquito–monkey–mosquito cycle, with only occasional transmission to humans. In 1952, ZIKV was first reported in humans, but remained confined to Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. Very few reports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ZIKV preferentially infects and injures neural progenitor cells (Tang et al., 2016). A study in Rio de Janeiro tracked 88 pregnant women who reported potential symptoms of ZIKV infection (Brasil et al., 2016). A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test confirmed a ZIKV infection in 72 of these women who were between 5 and 38 weeks of gestation. Fetal ultrasonography was performed in 42 ZIKV–positive and 12 ZIK–V negative pregnant women. In 12 of the 42 ZIKV–positive and none of the 16 ZIK–V negative pregnant women, fetal abnormalities including central nervous system defects were observed. These studies led World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other health authorities to publish recommendations for pregnant women living in countries affected by the ZIKV epidemic. Because of these recent ZIKV outbreaks and the potential for complications resulting from infection, ZIKV is an important emerging pathogen. ZIKV is an arbovirus of the Flaviviridae family, which includes dengue, West Nile, yellow fever, and Japanese encephalitis viruses, that causes a mosquito–borne disease transmitted by the Aedes genus of mosquito. As with other flaviviruses, the approximately 11 kb positive–sense, single stranded Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) molecule encodes seven nonstructural proteins and three structural proteins. History Of The Palauan Island In 1986 a Compact of Free Association was drafted and signed between Palau and the United States, and in 1994 began its enforcement, granting de jure and de facto independence to the small nation. This compact has many economic and military provisions, aiming to make Palau self–governing and self–sufficient and also allowing Palau to make use of American aid and military protection (Compact of Free Association 1986). There are two other nations that are signed to similar compacts, including the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. The Palauan government continues to be the country's largest employment provider with per capita income of over $11,000 per annum . The country is still using the U.S dollar as their currency. Foreign aid consist of around 20 percent of their GDP and finance about 50 percent of government spending . The Palauan economy has been estimated to grow by 9.4% in the FY2015 . This growth is expected to be driven by the increase in tourist arrivals especially from China. But, the economy has been facing the challenges of less facilities to accommodate the influx of tourists into their economy. Therefore, revenues generated from their tourism industry are offset by the high importation of construction materials for tourism related accommodation and high import bills on fuel . d. Domestic and External Factors on African Macroeconomic Formulation Introduction Growth, productivity and employment are the most common economic variables to reduce extreme poverty and break poverty trap. Report from World Bank in 2007 revealed that one percent in GDP growth results to 1.3% poverty decline in low–income countries. Moreover, development in the productive capacity leads to reduction in sustainable poverty. With improvement in the economic growth, many people have been removed from poverty during the past few decades in many developing countries. However, poverty continues to be worsening in the 33% of the world's least developing African countries. (African Economic Research Consortium 2008). While there are many factors influencing growth, management of macroeconomic is very crucial to economic growth. Appropriate macroeconomic policies are critical for wealth creation, sustainable economic expansion and employment generating investment. Recent improvement in the economic performances of some African countries was underpinned by the improvement in macroeconomic management. However, inefficient macroeconomic policies are the features of many African countries leading to the substantial growth disparities in the African continent. The Economic Significance Of Pacific Island Tuna This paper discusses the economic significance of tuna fishing, and related industries to island nations in the Southwest Pacific, including the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papa New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Due to the limited number of exploitable resources available to these island nations, tuna is an essential renewable resource, and, represents a multi–billion dollar–a–year global industry for these communities. The Pacific Islands contribute a third of the world's annual tuna supply, providing direct and indirect employment (roughly 7 percent of national employment), as well as being a valuable source of government revenue. The main topics covered in this discussion paper are: global significance of Pacific Island tuna, the value of tuna to the region, employment, exports and benefits, and fishery–related industries. Global Significance: In recent years, the annual global supply of tuna (albacore, bigeye, skipjack, and yellowfin) has averaged roughly 3.6 million metric tons (Joseph, 2000), with the Pacific Islands contributing 1million metric tons, nearly a third of global supply. Additionally, the Pacific Island nations supply 60 percent of canned tuna, and 30 percent of tuna bound for the Japanese sashimi market. Recently, a research group from the Southern Methodist University led by Mark D. McCoy found the earliest direct evidence of monument building at Nan Madol (McCoy et al. 2016). This is a significant discovery that pushes back the initial age of dynasty in the Pacific over 100 years, and provides anthropologist a new way to study the evolution of society. Before this discovery, scientists had set the date for the first dynasty in the Pacific to around 1300 CE. McCoy et al. (2016) stated, "The earliest evidence of hierarchical ... "We report the earliest secure dates on the construction of monumental architecture in the remote islands of the Pacific located at the site of Nan Madol on Pohnpei Island in Eastern Micronesia. High– precision uranium series dating of coral from the tomb of the Saudeleur Dynasty indicate political control over the entire island was established by AD 1180–1200 (770–750 yr)" (McCoy et al. 2016). (2007), evidence drawn from monumental architecture is one of the greatest indicators for prehistoric socio–political organization. Nan Mandol is therefore opening a door to study the establishment of kingdoms in the Pacific. The island of Pohnpei is important for two reasons: First its archaeology, second its geology. The former implies that the "golden door" that Emma Lazarus spoke of is responsible for the fabric of American society while the latter suggests that the nation's immigrants contributed to the United States' rise to global leadership. During a conference at Princeton University on Military Man Power and American Policy in 1942, Dr. Edward Mead Earle stated that "[m]an power is a definite factor in the world balance of power, and, what is more important, it is a constantly changing factor...the nature of these changes and their probable effect...should be thoroughly understood in order that the national interest may be safeguarded..." In other words, we must be proactive and bring to light the issues that face Micronesian immigrants who are treated unfairly. Another brief policy report from the Hawai'i Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice (HACLEJ) provides accounts of stigmatization by governmental leaders towards COFA migrants. The report further goes on to explain how there is an absence of interpreters available to help COFA migrants within labor, housing and court disputes. An Interview to Compare Adult Learners The purpose of this 10 minutes interview with three different individuals in age ranges of 20's, 40's, and 60's is simply to give me a better understanding of how and where adult education practices. With the use of some questionnaires, the three interviews have shown that in different age ranges view learning differently. Everyone can learn new ideas and concepts even with age differences and economic status but, what needs to be learned and the purpose of learning are different depending on the age of an individual. The ability to keep information within an individual also differs due to aging. The interview clearly shows that as an individual age, the ability to remember facts, dates, and names decline and memory storage is not functional as it used to be. Therefore, one needs to understand the age range of people encountered in life especially in regards to learning so that effective strategies could be implemented. This virus is not a new diseased that just developed, it has been around for years. Zika was first exposed in Uganda in 1947. Nonetheless, fear didn't start arising until this year 2016. This virus is best explained as discomfort in the muscle, a fever, being weak and symptoms possibly lasting for days. It's quite a different virus to detect compare to other viruses' symptoms. Zika posts danger to the human body but more importantly, it places pregnant women and babies at more danger than anyone else. This virus can be easily passed from a pregnant women to her fetus, putting her life and her child life in danger. If the virus is transmitted to the embryo, the virus will produce severe damage to the baby's growth and the women life. • 115. Zika Virus In Brazil Why is the Zika Epidemic Growing More Serious in Brazil? "The Zika police," which is composed of 220,000 Brazilian soldiers and 46,000 health operatives, are visiting door–to–door in Brazilian towns and cities to educate people about the Zika virus by handing out pamphlets (Rogers, 2016). The Brazilian government has a commitment to eradicate the Zika virus because the Summer Olympics are held in Rio de Janeiro in this August. Ramzy (2016) reports that an estimated 1.5 million Brazilians have been infected with the Zika virus. In 1947, the initial Zika was found in the Zika forest in Uganda, from which the virus was named, since then the virus has gradually spread across Africa and Asia (Ramzy, 2016). Especially, the poor have little resources to protect from the mosquitoes such as repellents, window screens, and air–conditioning (Jacobs, 2016). Most of the poor live in slum areas where homes are built on top of each other, so that it is difficult to prevent contact with the mosquitoes (Rogers, 2016). If some of the neighbors did not care about the Zika virus, the mosquitoes would dramatically increase in a slum. "Effective repellents are too expensive for many in a country where the average wage is $626 per month, according to the government" (Rogers, 2016, p. A2). Some of the residence in the slums do not allow the Zika police come into their house, and they may have weapons. This is a reason why Brazilian government use the armed force in this campaign (Rogers 2016). It is obvious that the rich can protect themselves with some resources, but the poor face a huge challenge to protect themselves from the virus. The Brazilian government is under criticism to allow the Zika pandemic. Another important case of the Zika epidemic is that the Brazilian government has neglected to improve the sanitation in slums. Automated Teller Machine : An Electronic Banking Outlet AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINE Abstract – An automated teller machine, also known as an automatic teller machine that enables the customers of a financial institution to perform financial transactions, particularly cash withdrawal, without the need for a human cashier, clerk. Introduction – An automated teller machine (ATM) is an electronic banking outlet, which allows customers to complete basic transactions without the aid of a branch representative or teller. Anyone with a credit card or debit card can access most ATMs. The first ATM appeared in London in 1967, and in less than 50 years, ATMs spread around the globe, securing a presence in every major country and even tiny little island nations such as Kiribati and the Federated States of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two types of ATM installations: on– and off–premises. On–premises ATMs are typically more advanced, multi–function machines that complement a bank branch 's capabilities, and are thus more expensive. Off–premises machines are deployed by financial institutions and Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs) where there is a simple need for cash, so they are generally cheaper single function devices. Most ATMs are connected to interbank networks, enabling people to withdraw and deposit money from machines not belonging to the bank where they have their accounts or in the countries where their accounts are held (enabling cash withdrawals in local currency). Some examples of interbank networks include NYCE, PULSE, PLUS, Cirrus, AFFN, Interact, Interswitch, STAR, LINK, Mega Link and Banc Net. ATMs rely on authorisation of a financial transaction by the card issuer or other authorising institution on a communications network. This is often performed through an ISO 8583 messaging system. Many banks charge ATM usage fees. In some cases, these fees are charged solely to users who are not customers of the bank where the ATM is installed; in other cases, they apply to all users. An ATM is typically made up of the following devices: CPU (to control the user interface and transaction devices) Magnetic or chip card reader (to identify the customer) PIN pad EEP4 (similar in layout to a touch tone or calculator keypad), manufactured as part of a secure ... The main topics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In short, the Pacific Islands are effectively the epicenter of tuna fishing globally. Regional Value of Tuna Catch: In the Pacific Islands region, the annual catch volume and volume per catch have increased over the last thirty years (figure 2). Despite some annual variation, the catch volume has increased roughly ten–fold from 1970 to 1999. Additionally, the value has increased dramatically from approximately USD375 million in 1982 (Clark 1983), to USD1.2 billion in 1993 (World Bank 1995), to USD1.7 billion in 1995 (FFA 1996), and to USD1.9 billion in 1998 (Van Santen and Muller 2000). These figures clearly indicate the importance of tuna fishing to the Pacific Islands' economies, with the current annual tuna harvest valued at USD1.9 billion. The countries and regions within the Pacific Islands have a combined GDP of USD17 billion (SPC 1998b), thus the annual tuna harvest represents roughly 11 percent of the region's GDP. Employment: Much like the Energy sector in Canada, the tuna fishing industry is a massive employer in the Pacific Islands. With a lack of formal jobs in the region, the importance of tuna–related employment drastically increases. The areas of employment that tuna fishing generates includes: direct employment on a fishing vessel, which is extremely labor–intensive, and employment connected to the tuna industry, including indirect spinoff ... Though it is up for discussion as to when a disease would be considered new, Levin's et al. The enquiry into new diseases and how they come about sheds light into the modern human society in whom the disease might penetrate from. The recent article 'The Evolution of HIV–1 and the Origin of AIDS' illustrated by Sharp and Hahn (2010) proposes that there is a likelihood of transportation of the disease between chimpanzee to human beings through "exposure to infected blood and body fluids during the butchery of bush meat". (Fox News, 2016) In 1947, the Zika virus was first identified in a monkey that was being used to monitor the presence of yellow fever virus in the Zika Forest of Uganda. A year later, the virus was also found in the mosquito species, Aedes africanus, that was caught on a tree platform in the same forest. In 1952, the first human case was detected in Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania in a study demonstrating the presence of neutralizing antibodies to Zika virus. The first outbreak of the disease outside of Africa and Asia was in 2007, on the island of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia. • 151. Why Did Americans Need The Immigration Reform Essay Why did Americans need the immigration reform build in the first place? Mexican immigrants have been coming to the United States throughout this country through history, but it was a guest worker program that started after World War II that set a stage for patterns for legal immigration we still see today. From 1942 to 1964, the "Bracero Program", a guest worker program that brought 400,000 agricultural employers per year to the United States. This program had issues such as worker abuse and low wage, so it ended in 1964. But the worker kept coming. In the early of 1970s, there were more than 1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Still, most Americans did not have strong opinions about immigration policy the way we do today. There were lots of groups had interests to see the system change. President Ronald Reagan supported changing the laws, too, and he was a republican. He said "I believe the idea of amnesty". After a year in fall, the bill finally gained the legitimate moment in 1986 which was Immigration Reform and Control Act(IRCA). It talked two of biggest issues at the time. The first one, it offered legal status for undocumented immigrants who had been living the United States since before January 1, 1982, and the second one, it penalized the employer who knowingly hired undocumented workers. The bill finally cleared in the house senator, and signed by President Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986. The Immigration Reform and Control Act(IRCA) was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
