Mass movement refers to the movement of regolith down slopes. It can range from extremely slow forms like soil creep, which is barely noticeable as it slowly moves soil down even gentle slopes, to very rapid landslides that can be triggered by erosion or construction and move soil quickly down cliffs or steep slopes, sometimes with devastating effects. Other forms of mass movement include bogbursts, mudflows, and avalanches, which involve saturated soil or snow rapidly flowing down slopes.
