with depth and insight.
Firstly, identifying a topic that is both interesting and has sufficient literature to support your

I am Blessed to have Grand Daddy
I am blessed to have many influential people in my life. James Carl Stewart has
undoubtedly been the most influential person in my life. I did not know him as
Carl like everybody else. I had the privilege to call him Grand Daddy. During the
ninety years he lived he lead by example. Grand Daddy always made sure to let his
familyknow that you have to work hard to get what you want. He showed that hard
work does pay off in the end.
Grand Daddy had started out life with what his family had given him and that was
not much. Grand Daddy worked hard to be able to provide for his family and he
never let any of us forget it. He instilled hard work and dedication in me from an
early age. I can remember when he would come and pick my sister and me up and
take us to do yard work. I loathed doing yard work but he taught me that hard work
pays off because our reward was a home cooked meal from Grandma. No one ever
passed up a meal made by Grandma.
In elementary school when report card time rolled around I can remember getting a
call from him. Just so he could tell me how proud he was of me and how I need to
keep up the good work. My freshman year in high school I got a C on my report card.
When he called he asked me what my grades were and I told him. I can recall telling
him that it was hard and I did not think I could pass the class. He passed down words
of wisdom like he always did. He said Sugar, You are a child of God and you have

Comparing Cisneros Border Crossings And Beyond
As Carmen Rivera states in Border Crossings and Beyond, The predominant image
of docile, submissive, nurturing, and effacing women who relegate their own needs
and personal desires to tend to needs of others, particularly the men and children in
their families, gives way to literary representations of assertive, self supporting,
tenacious, and strong willed women who assume control of their lives and
circumstances (Rivera, Border Crossings and Beyond ). In the short story Woman
Hollering Creek, CleГіfilas is defenseless in an abusive marriage. By writing about
voiceless woman like CleГіfilas, Cisneros paves the way for the woman like the
narrator in His Story who doesn t give into culturally inscribed genderroles. It s

is the result of a curse that has plagued multiple other women in the family. A
family trait we trace back/ to a great aunt no one mentions/ Her sin was beauty/ She

Cisneros writing a poem from her father s perspective about herself, which is

intelligent. Going against your famille s wishes is a difficult decision, especially
when it comes to a decision that affects the rest of that person s life. However, it

Essay about An Invisible Shield
Every community has their own standards for the men, women and children. If a
child were to grow up in a white dominant, high class town like Poway, CA, they
would be expected to complete high school, go to college, get a well paid job and
then marry in their mid twenties. In The House on Mango Street, a Hispanic, second
class community expects their women to grow up, drop out of school, marry early to
escape their familyand depend on their husband. For a girl who grows up in that
kind of society, it will most likely become her fate. No matter what her dreams may
be, there is an established invisible shield that blocks most of the women from
escaping their mother s and grandmother s destiny of a sheltered housewife. Cisneros

My Name gives the reader a good idea of the macho stereotypes that dominate
Esperanza s life. She tells how she was taught that the year of the horse, the year she
was born on, is unlucky for females. Although Esperanza understands the Mexican
ideal of an obedient woman, she completely rejects the lifestyle. She was a horse
woman too, born like me in the Chinese year of the horse which is supposed to be
bad luck if you re born female but I think this is a Chinese lie because the Chinese,
like the Mexicans, don t like their women strong. The strong tone Esperanza writes
in shows her admiration of her great grandmother s free spirit as a horse woman,
which is much like her own. The metaphor shows how like the independent, free
animal, some are doomed to be captured, trained, and ruled by men. Like a horse,
Esperanza s great grandmother was caught when my great grandfather threw a sack
over her head and carried her off. Esperanza is amaze at the legitimacy of male
domination when she says . ..just like that, as if she were a fancy chandelier. Here,
Esperanza learns to understand that her society refers to women as objects and their
worth is determined by their appearance and function.
There are three consecutive vignettes that give examples of three different vulnerable,
tragic women. In the first vignette, No Speak English, Esperanza s neighbor works
Automobile Industry In The Late 1800 s
The first automobile was made useful in France and Germany in the late 1800 s.
America s industry of automobile started in the early 1990 s. Henry ford had a big

Global Competition in the Industry
America had a global competition as it was not the only country who had the
industry. China, South Korea, Japan and India were also procuring automobiles. In
1995 America and Japan made an agreement on having more outlets in each countries,
to be able to sell their products. This agreement created job opportunity and made
their cars and parts available in both countries. This agreement also invented
computation. Japan was producing good quality and affordable automobile such as
Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and more. Japan s automobile became well known all
over the world.

Recently America and the European countries are saying that the automobile industry
is very dangerous for our world, and the likes of china should not produce them as
we have created a lot of pollution already. What the world should be currently
focusing is reducing the pollution, nor creating more cars.
The countries who are interested on producing cares would probably say, why they
should stop when it s their turn to make money. What would happen if had a
different use of the resource and the man power we used to create automobile? I
think we probably would have made a much better world then we have
Getting to Know Hiromi Uehara
She often wears a strange, (but seems to be her personal characteristic), hairstyle to
get on stage. She always has a cheeky smile, swinging her body freely while her
fingers dance on the piano. She is intelligent and mischievous with endless musical
whimsy. She is the pianist, the composer that brings all the surprise to us, along with
her fiery rhythm and creative keyboard sound. Her name is Hiromi Uehara.
She is born in Shizuoka, Japan, started learning by the age of six. In addition to
classical techniques, she also started to learn jazz techniques and participated in
improvisation trainings. At the age of 12, she started to perform on stage and by the
age of 17, she met Chick Corea and got invited to play with him in the next day
concert.
In Hiromi s career, Hiromi has a lot of inspiration from all jazz musicians, such as
Chick Corea and Oscar Peterson. Here is a recording of Hiromi Uehara and Chick
Corea duet on Hiromi s piece Old Castle, by the river, in the middle of a forest
(2007). In comparison of these two great jazz musicians, Corea insists on his lyrical
jazz style while Hiromi is punchier and more rhythmic. (Chick Hiromi, 2008). This
combination allows Hiromi and Corea to present their strengths, surprise audiences
with their delicate musical ideas.
Here is another recording of Hiromi performing I got rhythm ; she dedicated this
work to Oscar Peterson. Just like her words in an interview with Anil Prasad in 2008

The Three Causes Of Fires In Northern California
Fires in California As you may or may not know, there are some wildfires in
Northern California. I found three sources on the topic, each from a different view.
Fox, from the right, CBS, from the left, and Reuters at the center. In short, what is
happening is in Sonoma County and Napa County there has been some really bad
fires that are killing people and damaging lots of property. News is supposed to be
objective, telling the situation how it is. Just looking at the titles for these articles
tells you what the audience is supposed to feel. Fox gave a death count: California
wildfires kill at least 31, deadliest week for fires in state history . CBS did too, but it
is a much lower number: At least 13 dead as wildfires devour... Show more content on

In one radio exchange between firefighters in Napa County, crews called in
downed lines and a blown transformer around 9:15 p.m. Sunday. About 15 minutes
later, crews also reported a fire in the same area. It was unclear if that particular fire
grew into a larger blaze or was contained, according to KTVU FOX 2 (Fedschun, par
7).
The use of the firefighter s radio chatter helps give Fedschun more credibility and
makes readers intrigued to see if that was what started the fires or not.
In CBS s article, At least 13 dead as wildfires devour wide swaths of Northern
California , it seemed very dramatic. CBS seems to appeal more to ethos in
comparison to the Fox News article. They gave more facts, more interviews, and in
depth descriptions. However, the site does not tell the readers who the author is, so
that makes them a little less credible. On the other hand, the author does not use any
logical fallacies in the article. This brings back some credibility. Not to mention,
CBS has quotes from seemingly credible sources like Vice President Mike Pence,
and homeowners affected by the fires. The short interview of Vice President Pence
tells the readers what the president is doing about the situation, and seems to ease
troubled minds with facts and emotion.
Vice President Mike Pence, who is visiting California, announced that President
Trump approved a major disaster declaration for the state to assist in the
The Ban Of Full Veils
France has recently been enforcing their ban of full face veils in public places. The
government claims it is for public safety, however, others feel it is the result of
Islamophobia . Regardless of their reasoning, they are infringing on basic human
rights. Most people believe that the ability to worship as they choose is a right given
to them, not by any government, but by their deity. However in Venissieux, France a
ban on the wearing of full veils in public places was formalized on April 15th, 2011.
Thus, making it the first European country to violate what is, to some Muslims, an
important religious conviction. Although the police cannot legally remove full veils,
they are encouraged to punish those who continue to wear them with fines or
required citizenship lessons. The new laws are a direct attack on Islamic culture,
allowing the French government to strip its citizens of their history, their identity, and
worst of all, of their ability to worship as their scriptures tells them to.
The Quran, the Muslim holy text, commands both women and men to dress in a
modest way to show their dedication and reverence for God. Some Islamic tradition
and law states that the definition of modesty for a Muslim woman is covering
everything except the face and hands in public. This idea is defended by the texts of
Fiqh, which deal with the observance of rituals, morals and social legislation in Islam.
These texts were developed after the revelation of the Quran. While the Fiqh is not

Benefits Of Living In A Shared House In College
Living in a shared house while you are in college is for sure your life experience.
Either you have great, good or not that good experience, there is a high possibility
that what you experience in a shared house remain in your memories for the rest of
your life. One of the reasons might be the fact that you have to live with people
that probably you had never seen before. Moreover, those people can be from
different parts of the country. But whatever the reason, anyone who study far from
his or her hometown has a strong impact on his or her life, where very positive o
very negative.
When a person move to another city because of college, positively influenced by
the change. First of all because it is a great opportunity to expand someone s
friendship, for example if the person move to a house where there are ten other
students, which are usually from different towns or cities, it is a chance to have ten
more friends. At the same time, it allows to know more about those owns, because
despite the fact that they are in the same country and even in the same region, there
are slight cultural differences such as different names for the same fruit for example.
On the other hand, people s experience living in a shared house may not be the best,
especially for those ones who had never been left home. For them, it might be really
difficult because usually they are not used to do housework, and as they are on they
are on they own, they might experience some frustration. For example, a
Safeway Supermarket Consumer Behavior Audit
Safeway Supermarket Consumer behavior audit
1. Introduction Safeway Supermarket is a highly popular chain of supermarket stores,
located in the United States and Canada through more than 1,600 stores. The first
store was created in 1915 and its business model revolved around the creation of
customer value, through the maintenance of a low profitability margin. Today, the
same model drives the operations of the Safeway Supermarket chain and ensures the
success of the company (Website of Subway Supermarkets, 2012). Today however,
the market conditions have changed dramatically, and the sustained success of the
supermarket chain depends directly on a multitude of forces, one of the more
important of them being the satisfaction of the customers. In such a setting then, the
current project sets out to conduct an audit of the customer behavior and, as such,
generate valuable information to further support the future decision making process
at the organization.
2. Consumer behavior audit The audit of the customer can generically be conducted
through a multitude of methods, each one selected due to its ability to best serve the
scopes of the commenced effort. At this level, the audit of the customers would be
completed through a combination of marketing tools, namely segmentation,
positioning and the marketing mix product, price, place and promotions (Net MBA,
2010). Finally, a conclusion would be drawn relative to the overall level of customer
satisfaction.

Other observations were made regarding the nearby stars GJ667A and GJ667B.
The age of these two stars were estimated to be between 2 10 billion years old, thus
GJ667C was similar in age. The mass of GJ667C star was to be around 0.33 Msun.
The luminosity and surface temperature of GJ 667C using models for the mass,
metallicity, and age. The orbital data for this star showed a slightly eccentric orbit
of 0.27. The boundaries were determined for the zone where liquid water could
exist on an Earth like planet and planet c was found within that boundary. The data
was also compared to known limits that make Venus uninhabitable and Mars
habitable. The ultimate capability to support liquid water depends on other
properties that are not known. There needs to be more studies on climate and
geological models to assess chances of supporting life on this Earth like planet.
Finally, there were more observations of signals with longer periods but the data had
poor fits and were unstable on time scales, so they were not used.
Symbolism In Piggy s Glasses By William Golding
Eyes help us see the world. But sometimes it fails to see the truth; Golding shares
the same view. He was born on September 19, 1911. His view of the world changed
after participating in WWII in a royal navy. He shared the limit of human
destruction in his book, The Lord of the Flies. The book predicts what the human
civilization would do, when they have to form their own government. In The lord
of the flies Golding uses the changing symbolism, Piggy s Glasses, to connect with
the boys who were slowly going into destruction as would every human because
their hatred can t stay in democracy. At the beginning, bunch of kids are lost in an
island during a plane crash in WWII. These kids are separated from adults, so they
have to be independent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone at this point is covered with hatred. Jack leaves Ralph s pack, making his
own group after the incident with Piggy. The boys start joining the other group.
Golding separates the group to form the two opposing groups, democracy and
anarchy. He also uses Piggy s spec to connect with the current event. Jack has to
make his own fire since it s a basic need for survival. He opts to raid Ralph s tent at
night, to steal the broken glass from Piggy. Piggy where are you, Piggy? (166).
Dark figures drew themselves out of the wreckage and flitted away, till the
screams of the littleuns and Piggy s gasps were once more audible...He was a
chief now in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear. From his left hand
dangled Piggy s broken glasses (167 168). This is the point of total destruction. The
logic is in the hands of a human who has disrespected reasoning since the beginning
of the story. Jack and the group drew themselves out of wreckage and he was a
chief now and he carried the dangled Piggy s broken glass . In the end Jack s group
is victorious since they have achieved the ultimate logic that had been the base of
Ralph s group which represented democracy. The boys join the dictator since their
hatred couldn t stand democracy which was the system for
Black Belt Autobiography
As a dedicated student of the martial arts I live by the code of the black belt:
modesty, courtesy, integrity, self control and perseverance, SIR! For eight years I
had to follow this creed thoroughly and whole heartedly. When karate was first
mentioned in my household, I was narrow minded and pessimistic. The use of self
defense and fighting seemed irrelevant to my naive and youthful life. However
even after what seemed to be a lifetime of complaints and arguments, my pressing
parents held their ground and I was forced to start my long and rewarding journey
of becoming a black belt. As the years passed I quickly learned that this form of art
was not a system of punches and kicks, but rather a structure of discipline and
character.
Foreign Direct Investment ( Fdi )
In this 21st century, we live in a time like no other. The world has transformed as a
result of globalization. Globalization has made it possible for individuals who wake
up in east, to end their day in the other part of the world. Nations came together and
eliminated trade barriers, which enabled Corporation s to begin foreign direct
investment(FDI) in other nations. This resulted, corporations transform into
Multinational Enterprises. The movie The Grand Seduction shows the powerful
impact FDI s can have for an economy. This essay will analyze the movie and the

This was very successful for India It said after the launch of Make in India
initiative, there is a nearly 40 per cent increase in FDI inflows during October 2014
to June 2015. (Economic Times). FDI from developed countries to developing
countries is a vehicle not only for providing physical capital, but also for
transferring advanced technology, managerial skills, and innovative products. The
transfer of intangible assets if often viewed as the spillover effects of FDI. Foreign
affiliates from developed countries may also replace inefficient firms in developing
countries. In The Grand Seduction once a fishing community where people lived
happily were now dependent on government welfare. The government was helping
its citizens but the help in a way was degrading lives of the people. People wanted to
leave the town and go elsewhere. In the movie we see the mayor planning to offer
full tax exemption to bring in the factory in the town. The movie shows the FDI as a
last resort to revive Newfoundland. Studies show that FDI in the manufacturing sector
plays a very important role in enhancing the economic growth, but FDI in
nonmanufacturing sectors does not, example agriculture. Manufacturing FDI
accounts for the lion s share of FDI inflows in developing countries. In Foreign Direct

Helping Molly Scenario
Introduction
This essay will provide a theoretical understanding of the four ethical frameworks:
Consequentialism, Non Consequentialism, Virtue Ethics and Care Ethics. When
applied to a situation these frameworks help teachers to resolve and justify their
decision making. The objective is to apply the four frameworks to the scenario
Helping Molly, to establish the most ethical course of action. Finally, a recommended
course of action will be justification. The overarching ethical issue present within the
Helping Molly scenario is the community sponsorship and the alignment with school
beliefs and initiatives.
Consequentialism
Consequentialism is an ethical perspective that primarily focuses upon the
consequences resulting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A possible course of action is to accept the further promotion as a whole school, to
enable access to new equipment and resources for all students and for Molly to be
able to extend her talent.
Utilitarianism
The utilitarianism perspective involves getting the best outcome for everyone
including the teacher. The best outcome for the students in the school would be to
provide them with new instruments and give them all a chance to develop their
musical skills. The best outcome for Molly would be to further develop her talent
thus boosting her self esteem. The best outcome for the school would be to justify
the decision to fund Molly s sponsorship by having the school as a whole gain
additional funding and equipment. The best outcome for Molly s parents and the
community is to see the children grow and develop. The best outcome for McJack s
is to establish an improved name for themselves. Finally, the best outcome for the
teacher is to encourage a productive learning environment.
The main possibility when looking at the scenario from a Utilitarianism perspective
is to provide students with the opportunities to grow. By accepting the further
promotion as a school students have access to new instruments and resources. If the
school accepted the funding there is no need to entwine Molly into the situation. She
has already received her sponsorship. This can be seen as a whole school
A Dolls House Critical Analysis
In Henrik Ibsen s controversial play, A Doll s House, the audience witnesses Nora
Helmer, a Norwegian housewife, struggle to hide a secret financial transaction from
her husband, Torvald Helmer. At the conclusion of the play, Nora decides to leave
Torvald and her children in order to find self fulfillment. Throughout the play, Henrik
Ibsenoffers vivid criticism on the social expectations imposed upon women in
Victorian era society. Ibsen communicates this central message of the play by
utilizing Nora s dynamic character to demonstrate the necessity of freedom from
societal bondage. In particular, Ibsen uses the macaroons and the tarantella dance
throughout the play to provide greater depth to Nora s character by presenting
contrasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this context, the macaroons are symbolic of the many desires that Nora is forced
to suppress due to Torvald s wishes. The act of lying demonstrates Nora s defiance of
Torvald so that she may have what she desires, an act which is both thematically and
symbolically important.
Thus, having established a major element of the play s plot, Ibsen further develops
Nora s character by later using the macaroons to express Nora s cunningly nature.
When Mrs. Linde and Dr. Rank arrives at the household, the latter is startled by the
presence of the macaroons. He exclaims that, Macaroons? Now, now! I thought
they were forbidden here! (Ibsen 166), to which Nora responds by stating that,
[T]hese are some that Kristina gave me. (Ibsen 166). This obvious lie, apparent
earlier in the play, shows the manner in which Nora deflects the accusation from
herself to Mrs. Linde. The manner in which Nora reacts to Dr. Rank indicates the
habitual nature of her lies. Throughout these parts of the plays, the macaroons serve
show the rationale behind Nora s lies as she attempts to gain access to this
forbidden food. This closely parallels Nora s rationale throughout the rest of the
play as she attempts to hide her lies regarding the secret loan she took from Niels
Krogstad and her forged signature. The macaroons serve throughout the play as
symbols of Nora s childlike nature and her habitual lies, both done with the intention
of accessing a forbidden
Essay On American Flag Burning
Have you ever seen someone burn the American Flag? I m writing my research
paper of The Burning of the American Flag! I m writing this to prove to people that
it is wrong I have 3 reasons why it s wrong. My first and obvious reason is that it s
dangerous. My second reason is because it s very unpatriotic! My third and final
reason is the people that are burning the flag have no military experience. Burning
the flag or burning anything is dangerous. First off you have to have a permit to
burn anything. You have to take burn classes to get your permit. If you get caught
burning something without a permit you may be charged with a misdemeanor.
(law dictionary). Police want you to have your permit so they know that you know
everything about burning stuff. Carl Chase spent 14 years in the Navy and he said
Burning the Flag is dangerous because if someone who see you doing that and they
have respect for the country they will do something about and it might not be call

source is Joe Barr he said Flag burning makes me a feel like I fought for nothing

flag is to burn one s family, one s leaders, one s people s. (law dictionary) I found a
lot of me researches off of Law Dictionary. I also got Donald Trump s Opinion on
this he said a sentence including possible jail time or loss of citizenship for
burning the American flag (law dictionary) Joe Barr had another one he basically
said They are burning the flag that I have fought for and still am fighting for.(Joe
Barr) Those are a lot of resources that state flag burning is wrong and they should

around the world most women experience the joy of having kids, but there is the
slight chance that she could be infertile and not get to delight in having her very

First of all, one thing leads up to another, for example, you need a good education
system so that way people can become fertility doctors and actually do the
procedures. Second, Lenkeit mentions in the textbook, Desire for economic gain is
perhaps the biggest stimulant for change (297). The economic gain that someone
who is infertile would receive from having these clinics could possibly be their
increase in status and also more income, depending on the location. For example in
the United States, someone who has kids (and depending on their income already)
could get higher welfare checks and pay less taxes. Another example is that in
India, women who are infertile are looked down upon and avoided. Therefore, if
she were to bear a child, the discrimination would be deceased, increasing her social
status. For someone who is infertile, there definitely has to be the desire to have a
baby to go through with In Vitro and to even have a clinic. Without the yearning of

In this first unit, one of the readings that really caught my attention was John Stuart
Mill s The Subjection of Women. In his essay, Mill s presents a very compelling
argument that the subordination of one sex to another is wrong and that there should
be instead, perfect equality amongst the sexes. Having previously studied about
gender inequality issues from another class, I have a broad understanding of how and
why gender inequality has been perpetuated through various historical, political, and
social contexts. Incorporating this knowledge as well as information learned through
the readings and lectures, I hope to share my thoughts on the subjection of women
and its relationship to slavery in this personal response paper. As an... Show more

Women were always seen as being inferior or weak to men; that they couldn t do
the same things men did because they lacked the physical strength to do so.
Because women were physically inferior, it became easy to oppress them due to
this difference in power. Throughout history, women were conditioned to believe
that it was their duty to be obedient to men. That it was their nature to live for
others....and to have no life but their [men s] affections (Mill, 1995, pg.16). Thus,
it seemed natural that women were to be subservient to the needs of the men in
their lives. They gave up their lives in order to serve and be accepted by them. Mill,
however, claims that this was not the case. The subjection of women was not
brought upon by natural development, but rather, through customary power
relationships that went on to become institutionalized in the same way that slavery
was. Although the subjection of women arose the same way as slavery and other
forms of oppression, it differs from the fact that it does not occur by the rule of
force but rather, by voluntary acceptance (Mill, 1995, pg.16). As mentioned earlier,
women were conditioned to believe that it was their duty to be obedient to men; that
it was natural to live their lives for them. In a way, a woman s obedience to man
The Act Of Gift Giving
The act of gift giving has become largely commercialized in the Western world.
Diving a level deeper by converting a gifted item into an item avaiable for resale
creates an even more commerical approach to this act of kindness. In the film
Babel(2006), the director Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu employs the message that
when something is converted into a capitalgood it becomes dangerous. Babel(2006)
follows four interrelated sets of situations and characters across the world united by
one item. A gun that was gifted from a Japanese man to a farmer in Morocco is
sold and later used in an accidental shooting of an American woman visiting
Morocco. This is an act of capital conversion because it turns something that was

First, Abdullah s two sons accidentally shoot an American tourist who was riding
on a tour bus. One of the sons is later shot and killed during a shootout with
investigating authorities. The woman taking care of the American tourist s
children, Amelia, is back in San Diego. She is questioned at the border, and then
she is deported for being an illegal immigrant after her driver tries to flee from the
police. The Japanese man called Mr. Wataya, who originally gave the gun as a gift,
has a deaf teenage daughter. His daughter is lonely and makes an advance on an
investigator that goes to their apartment to ask questions about the rifle. She is
rejected and continues to suffer loneliness. Circling back to the American tourist
couple, after the wife is shot she is eventually taken to a hospital and recovers.
Essentially, all of the conflict in the film can be traced back to that rifle. The
subtle message portrayed here by the director is that once the rifle became a piece
of capital goods and no longer a gift given in kindness, it was cursed in a way and
only created trouble. One interesting element about Amelia s predicament was that it
wasn t until she changed her story from being an Aunt to the children to a paid
caretaker that trouble started. This is another example of capital conversion in
motion, as the film seems to show very subtly. According to one study, about
The Death Penalty Is Justified
In many eyes across the country the death penalty is widely criticized. The state of
Texas has the death penalty, whereas nineteen other states in the United States do not
including the state Maine. The death penalty is a way for the states to declare that
they don t tolerate the heinous crimes that some individuals commit. In Texas there
are numerous ways that one could be sentenced to death row. Murdering a police

Comparing Ben And Jerry s Ice Cream
Ice cream is the ideal dessert in a hot summer day with the sun s heat beaming
upon you. Since the most popular ice cream flavor is vanilla, a taste test has been
established for the perfect solution to decide who prefers what brand and style of
flavor that is favored the most. In this ice cream taste testing, there are five cups for
the ice cream taste testers to taste, which are Cup A, B, C, D, and E. In each cup of
ice cream, there are different styles of the ice cream, vanilla. Every tester tries one
cup of ice cream one at a time and writes down their own thoughts on their surveys
which were given. They do not know what kinds of ice cream that are being served to
them.
On the survey, there are four columns and each of them are for the texture, sweetness,

Sentiment Analysis In A Movie Review
Abstract While sentiment analysis provides fantastic insights and has a wide range of
real world applications, the overall sentiment of a piece of text won t always pinpoint
the root cause of an author s opinion. Certain types of documents, such as movie
reviews, may contain fine grained sentiment about different aspects about the service
that are mentioned in text. A review about a movie may contain opinionated
sentences about its story, cast and direction. This information can help users
understand the positive and negative parts of a movie. Aspect based sentiment
analysis makes it easier to identify and determine the sentiment towards specific
aspects in text. To identify different aspects of a movie, the application needs to
determine the context of a particular sentence or group of sentences in the movie
review. These contextual groupings can then be mapped to various aspects of a
movie, hence enabling us to score aspects based on their sentiment.

Analysis Of Heidi s The Great Gatsby
Heidi s tragic side is fully revealed in this entire speech where humor and drama are
perfectly blended to emphasize her moment of realization. She becomes a
diminished character who no longer knows who she is and decides to leave New
York to sort out her future. Like a true dark comedy protagonist, she is vulnerable
and has lost control. She realizes her downfalls and the comedylies in the superiority
felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to man (Capp 220).
In the area of humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered an
everywoman for her generation. She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire
shared by women of all generations trying to balance personal dreams with societal
expectations. The illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by her need to
laugh off the heartaches and mask her true identity. She attempts to cover the
duller elements of her personality and never turns to a higher power for assistance,
as is characteristic of a dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act II referenced
above shows signs of a dark comic protagonist who clears his throats and scratches
her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s
tenet suggests, be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162). She attempts to do
so by adopting a baby, however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of
happiness will remain unanswered for Heidi: SCOOP. But now. Right now.
The Issue That Is Low Income Students And College Success

WHO GETS TO GRADUTE
The issue that surrounds low income students and college success is that the rich
kids are holding them back. The students who have low income are not graduating
at the rate of the rich kids who can afford school. The rich kids tend to get a better
knowledge in school because of their money. The poor students are not given the
equal education as the rich, so the poor is really not prepared for the next step.
Some of these low income students who work hard and do well in high school
sometimes make it in college. Low income students should be given the right to
graduate at a higher rate, it will give the poor a boost to continue to work hard and
make it to college.
Paul tough is the author of the article, Who Gets to Graduate? Paul s problem was
that the students who came from low income families were not prepared well enough
for college. Tough wants to help the students with not only low income, but
academics as well. Tough shadowed David Laude, who was the professor who is
helping the low income students. Laude s plan was to separate the low income
student from the high income students. Laude would put the low income students in
a smaller class, but teach the same lesson he would teach to the other students.
Laude encouraged the students to make them enjoy class. They also had tutoring that

Having good emotional intelligence usually means you have good self awareness.

Melanin
Melanin is a pigment that determines the colour of the skin, eyes and hair, playing a
role in camouflage, heat regulation and cosmetic variation. It also plays a critical role
in photoprotection due to its ability to absorb harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVR). As
the skin is the largest organ of the body, it is constantly influenced by external and
internal factors thus, melanin is an important defence system that protects the skin
against harmful factors (Costin Hearing, 2007). The process by which melanin is
produced and distributed by the epidermal units of the skin is called melanogenesis
(Videira, Moura, Magina, 2013). Extrinsic factors, such as UVR and certain chemical
compounds, and intrinsic factors, such as secretions by keratinocytes or fibroblasts,
can have an influence on melanogenesis. Predetermined genetic factors, such... Show

Mature melanocytes have long projections that are in contact with 30 40
neighbouring keratinocytes thus making up the epidermal melanin unit (Tsatmali,
Ancans, Thody, 2002). In order for melanin to play its role in photoprotection, the
mature melanosomes are transported into the cytoplasm of the keratinocytes via the
melanocyte s long projections. Inside the keratinocytes, melanosomes form a cap
around the nucleus. The melanin inside the melanosomes absorbs the UVR emitted
from the sun thus reducing the amount of UVR reaching the nucleus (Tsatmali et al.,
2002; Videira et al., 2013). This process of photoprotection is illustrated in Figure 1.
This photoprotection is necessary as UVR can damage DNA causing mutations
leading to cancer (Videira et al., 2013). In addition, melanosomes are not only found
in the skin but can also be found in several other tissues such as the central nervous
system, cardiovascular system, the uvea of the eye, cochlea and adipose tissues (D

WHAT IS CHILD TRAFFICKING? As indicated by UNICEF a kid casualty of
trafficking is any individual under 18 who is selected, transported, exchanged,
harbored or got with the end goal of abuse, either inside or outside a nation .
REASONS: There are numerous helping variables to child trafficking, which
incorporate financial hardship, conditions, absence of occupation opportunities,
economic wellbeing, and political uprisings. A hefty portion of the families in
India are not able to bear the cost of the fundamental necessities of life, which
constrains the folks to auction their children to posses, and the groups to endeavor

results in edgy measures being taken to profit they can. As there aren t even
average vocation opportunities accessible, folks will do anything from clearing the
avenues to offering their children, regardless of the possibility that it just makes

young ladies, are more defenseless than grown ups, making them a less demanding
target and a thing for groups. They are looked upon as more expendable than
whatever is left of the populace which makes them accessible as articles to be sold.
An alternate reason for sexual misuse is that individuals far and wide discover

statement and identify the statement s four sections and the important financial
relationships found with in the statement. First, it is important to identify what is a
classified income statement. According to Hermanson, a classified income statement,
also referred as a multiple step income statement, divides both revenues and expenses
into operating and non operating items, separates operating expenses into selling and
administrative expenses (1998). Furthermore, the classified income statement is
broken up into four sections: operating revenues, cost of goods sold, operating
expenses and non operating revenues and expenses.

On Being Anointed and the Great Awakening Essay
Why do we need another Great awakening? When I think of an Awakening, even
after our class, my mind immediately goes to images of eighteenth century
revivalists like Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, Jereena Lee and a large
constellation of other preaching giants of yesteryear. These men and women created
a legacy of spiritual fervor which has earned them a place in the annals of American
religious history. Their effectiveness as preachers of the word and proclaimers of
truth permeated a nation s consciousness and snatched the nation from spiritual
decline.

Perhaps that is what we need a contemporary awakening to do. In the face of drone
strikes, unending poverty, mass incarceration, and myriad social issues with spiritual
ramifications, an Awakening is what is needed to turn this nation, its culture and its
people around. I think there needs to be a turning to a moral center; be it God
(thinking out of my Christian context), or to a common place of civility and mutual
understanding. The church has a unique role to play in bringing renewal and
restoration to the brokenness of the world. I think that the mission the broken,
crucified, despised Jesus was and is healing brokenness. Jesus Christ was anointed
to do the work of restoring a sick and sad nation. I, therefore, hold as my point of
departure that in Jesus Christ we are anointed to preach in a way that will awaken
the nation to wholeness and to the reality of God s reign on Earth. In light of my
theme, this paper hopes to accomplish three goals. My first goal is to reflect on the

Holy Spirit and Preaching. Second, I will explore the preaching ministry of Howard
Washington Thurman who, I think, exemplifies what it means to operate in the
anointing of Christ. Finally, I will take these considerations about the Holy Spirit and
Howard Thurman, and reflect on my own preaching ministry, which nears eleven

Shakespeare reflects the wider tensions of his own context regarding the conflict
between filial duty and Christian morality in the execution of vengeance to shape
the responder s perception of the fraudulence required to commit murder.
Shakespeare develops the conventions of the revenge tragedy to reflect his society
s changing code of honor, from the medieval duty of revenge to a value of
individual conscience revived by the Protestant Reformation. The question of
Christian morality reveals itself in Claudius prayer as he shows genuine remorse
for his act of murder: It hath the primal eldest course upon t/ A brother s murder.
This allusion to Caine and Abel emphasises the sin of killing one s kin ,
encouraging the audience to question Hamlet s justification for vengeance as a
filial duty to his father and the state, (what he believed) to restore stability to his

The parallel of son and father conveys this, while the repetition of villain is an

Discrimination in the north (African American) One of the most dramatic
demographic events that had a significant change in America would be the Great
Migration. It had to do with the moving of 6 million of African American from the
southern hemisphere of the united states to the northern hemisphere around the time
of the 20th century. To better explain this event in American history it would be
best to start with the chain of events that caused it in the first place. That starting
point would have to be the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. This was an
announcement that was laid out to say that if any state if not by the start of the
1863 that is in rebellion would have all there slaves declared free if they did not
reunite back with America. Abraham Lincoln, being the president at this time,
pushed this through because would have hurt and reduce the South s capacity to
start a war by encouraging and threatening that their slaves would leave the
southern lines and come to America s. Once the slave would come and join
America they would be enlisted into the army and fight against the south. This
defiantly was the most important and first act done to help Africans in America
because it helped bring up the idea of freed slaves, but this was only done as a war
measure because slave was at that time very essential to the South s war effort and
did not have helping and freeing slaves as the main idea. This announcement did not
Black Holes Lab
Black holes are celestial bodies so dense and strong that nothing can escape their
pull. The idea of black holes is generally referred to the French mathematician,
Pierre Simon Laplace. In 1796, Laplace who was studying the subject of escape
velocity; this is the speed that something must be accelerated to in order to prevent
being pulled back by the gravity of a larger body. For example, to escape the Earth
s gravitational pull we must accelerate our rockets to over 11 kilometers per
second. If the rocket travels any slower then it will fall into a victim of earth
gravity. If it travels any faster it will never return. When Laplace worked on this
problem he noticed a relationship between the size of the object and its mass.

For a source that was many light years always as Scorpios was, to have the amount
of x ray emissions that was detected implied that it must have been generating huge
quantities of x rays. The simplest explanation for this was if material was heated to
extreme temperatures as it was being accelerated by gravity onto a nearby object.
If this would be true then the companion object had to be very small and very
dense. The next pivotal discovery come with the launch of the Unuru x ray
satellite on December 12th 1970. Its given job was to map the x ray sky; the
satellite found 339 sources. Some where galaxies, some supernova remnants, but
most were x ray binary stars. Here, ordinary stars stream their material onto nearby
neutron stars which gets extremely hot as it falls, therefore emitting x rays. One of

from the money paid by their audience. Therefore, whoever pays to watch athletes

Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia,
and Hong Kong eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the
1970s, the British brought the idea back to England, where they replaced wood
with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other countries including
the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police
handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is
replaced by a black thick rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim
for any area below the neck; when the bullet hits an object it flattens out in order to
cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950 mph, and if hit by
one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some
people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). Although not
intended to be deadly doctors warn, rubber bullets are unsafe and should never be
used by authorities to control riots . But when it comes down to controlling hostile
crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant way to turn rioters away.

  • 2. I am Blessed to have Grand Daddy I am blessed to have many influential people in my life. James Carl Stewart has undoubtedly been the most influential person in my life. I did not know him as Carl like everybody else. I had the privilege to call him Grand Daddy. During the ninety years he lived he lead by example. Grand Daddy always made sure to let his familyknow that you have to work hard to get what you want. He showed that hard work does pay off in the end. Grand Daddy had started out life with what his family had given him and that was not much. Grand Daddy worked hard to be able to provide for his family and he never let any of us forget it. He instilled hard work and dedication in me from an early age. I can remember when he would come and pick my sister and me up and take us to do yard work. I loathed doing yard work but he taught me that hard work pays off because our reward was a home cooked meal from Grandma. No one ever passed up a meal made by Grandma. In elementary school when report card time rolled around I can remember getting a call from him. Just so he could tell me how proud he was of me and how I need to keep up the good work. My freshman year in high school I got a C on my report card. When he called he asked me what my grades were and I told him. I can recall telling him that it was hard and I did not think I could pass the class. He passed down words of wisdom like he always did. He said Sugar, You are a child of God and you have Stewart blood running through your veins, you can

Comparing Cisneros Border Crossings And Beyond As Carmen Rivera states in Border Crossings and Beyond, The predominant image of docile, submissive, nurturing, and effacing women who relegate their own needs and personal desires to tend to needs of others, particularly the men and children in their families, gives way to literary representations of assertive, self supporting, tenacious, and strong willed women who assume control of their lives and circumstances (Rivera, Border Crossings and Beyond ). In the short story Woman Hollering Creek, CleГіfilas is defenseless in an abusive marriage. If a child were to grow up in a white dominant, high class town like Poway, CA, they would be expected to complete high school, go to college, get a well paid job and then marry in their mid twenties. In The House on Mango Street, a Hispanic, second class community expects their women to grow up, drop out of school, marry early to escape their familyand depend on their husband. For a girl who grows up in that kind of society, it will most likely become her fate. No matter what her dreams may be, there is an established invisible shield that blocks most of the women from escaping their mother s and grandmother s destiny of a sheltered housewife. She tells how she was taught that the year of the horse, the year she was born on, is unlucky for females. Although Esperanza understands the Mexican ideal of an obedient woman, she completely rejects the lifestyle. She was a horse woman too, born like me in the Chinese year of the horse which is supposed to be bad luck if you re born female but I think this is a Chinese lie because the Chinese, like the Mexicans, don t like their women strong. The strong tone Esperanza writes in shows her admiration of her great grandmother s free spirit as a horse woman, which is much like her own. The metaphor shows how like the independent, free animal, some are doomed to be captured, trained, and ruled by men. Like a horse, Esperanza s great grandmother was caught when my great grandfather threw a sack over her head and carried her off. At the age of 12, she started to perform on stage and by the age of 17, she met Chick Corea and got invited to play with him in the next day concert. However in Venissieux, France a ban on the wearing of full veils in public places was formalized on April 15th, 2011. Although the police cannot legally remove full veils, they are encouraged to punish those who continue to wear them with fines or required citizenship lessons. The new laws are a direct attack on Islamic culture, allowing the French government to strip its citizens of their history, their identity, and worst of all, of their ability to worship as their scriptures tells them to. The Quran, the Muslim holy text, commands both women and men to dress in a modest way to show their dedication and reverence for God. Some Islamic tradition and law states that the definition of modesty for a Muslim woman is covering everything except the face and hands in public. This idea is defended by the texts of Fiqh, which deal with the observance of rituals, morals and social legislation in Islam. These texts were developed after the revelation of the Quran. Throughout the play, Henrik Ibsenoffers vivid criticism on the social expectations imposed upon women in Victorian era society. In this context, the macaroons are symbolic of the many desires that Nora is forced to suppress due to Torvald s wishes. The act of lying demonstrates Nora s defiance of Torvald so that she may have what she desires, an act which is both thematically and symbolically important. Thus, having established a major element of the play s plot, Ibsen further develops Nora s character by later using the macaroons to express Nora s cunningly nature. When Mrs. Linde and Dr. Rank arrives at the household, the latter is startled by the presence of the macaroons. He exclaims that, Macaroons? Now, now! I thought they were forbidden here! (Ibsen 166), to which Nora responds by stating that, [T]hese are some that Kristina gave me. (Ibsen 166). This obvious lie, apparent earlier in the play, shows the manner in which Nora deflects the accusation from herself to Mrs. Linde. The manner in which Nora reacts to Dr. Rank indicates the habitual nature of her lies. Throughout these parts of the plays, the macaroons serve show the rationale behind Nora s lies as she attempts to gain access to this forbidden food. This closely parallels Nora s rationale throughout the rest of the play as she attempts to hide her lies regarding the secret loan she took from Niels Krogstad and her forged signature. The macaroons serve throughout the play as symbols of Nora s childlike nature and her habitual lies, both done with the intention of accessing a forbidden

The economic gain that someone who is infertile would receive from having these clinics could possibly be their increase in status and also more income, depending on the location. Women were always seen as being inferior or weak to men; that they couldn t do the same things men did because they lacked the physical strength to do so. Because women were physically inferior, it became easy to oppress them due to this difference in power. Throughout history, women were conditioned to believe that it was their duty to be obedient to men. That it was their nature to live for others....and to have no life but their [men s] affections (Mill, 1995, pg.16). Thus, it seemed natural that women were to be subservient to the needs of the men in their lives. They gave up their lives in order to serve and be accepted by them. Mill, however, claims that this was not the case. The subjection of women was not brought upon by natural development, but rather, through customary power relationships that went on to become institutionalized in the same way that slavery was. Although the subjection of women arose the same way as slavery and other forms of oppression, it differs from the fact that it does not occur by the rule of force but rather, by voluntary acceptance (Mill, 1995, pg.16). As mentioned earlier, women were conditioned to believe that it was their duty to be obedient to men; that it was natural to live their lives for them. In a way, a woman s obedience to man

The Japanese man called Mr. Wataya, who originally gave the gun as a gift, has a deaf teenage daughter. His daughter is lonely and makes an advance on an investigator that goes to their apartment to ask questions about the rifle. She is rejected and continues to suffer loneliness. Circling back to the American tourist couple, after the wife is shot she is eventually taken to a hospital and recovers. Essentially, all of the conflict in the film can be traced back to that rifle. The subtle message portrayed here by the director is that once the rifle became a piece of capital goods and no longer a gift given in kindness, it was cursed in a way and only created trouble. One interesting element about Amelia s predicament was that it wasn t until she changed her story from being an Aunt to the children to a paid caretaker that trouble started. This is another example of capital conversion in motion, as the film seems to show very subtly. According to one study, about

Sentiment Analysis In A Movie Review Abstract While sentiment analysis provides fantastic insights and has a wide range of real world applications, the overall sentiment of a piece of text won t always pinpoint the root cause of an author s opinion. Certain types of documents, such as movie reviews, may contain fine grained sentiment about different aspects about the service that are mentioned in text. A review about a movie may contain opinionated sentences about its story, cast and direction. This information can help users understand the positive and negative parts of a movie. Aspect based sentiment analysis makes it easier to identify and determine the sentiment towards specific aspects in text. To identify different aspects of a movie, the application needs to determine the context of a particular sentence or group of sentences in the movie review. These contextual groupings can then be mapped to various aspects of a movie, hence enabling us to score aspects based on their sentiment. She realizes her downfalls and the comedylies in the superiority felt by the spectator due to man s delight in man s inhumanity to man (Capp 220). In the area of humanness, Heidi may not be ordinary, but can still be considered an everywoman for her generation. She is looking for fulfillment, a universal desire shared by women of all generations trying to balance personal dreams with societal expectations. The illusion of who she longs to be is overshadowed by her need to laugh off the heartaches and mask her true identity. She attempts to cover the duller elements of her personality and never turns to a higher power for assistance, as is characteristic of a dark comic protagonist. Her speech in Act II referenced above shows signs of a dark comic protagonist who clears his throats and scratches her nose (Styan, The Dark 275). She will never emerge as a hero, or as Guthke s tenet suggests, be able to clear her pain stricken conscience (162). She attempts to do so by adopting a baby, however, but it is clear to the spectator that the question of happiness will remain unanswered for Heidi: SCOOP. But now. Right now.

  • 29. Melanin Melanin is a pigment that determines the colour of the skin, eyes and hair, playing a role in camouflage, heat regulation and cosmetic variation. It also plays a critical role in photoprotection due to its ability to absorb harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVR). As the skin is the largest organ of the body, it is constantly influenced by external and internal factors thus, melanin is an important defence system that protects the skin against harmful factors (Costin Hearing, 2007). The process by which melanin is produced and distributed by the epidermal units of the skin is called melanogenesis (Videira, Moura, Magina, 2013). Mature melanocytes have long projections that are in contact with 30 40 neighbouring keratinocytes thus making up the epidermal melanin unit (Tsatmali, Ancans, Thody, 2002). Inside the keratinocytes, melanosomes form a cap around the nucleus. The melanin inside the melanosomes absorbs the UVR emitted from the sun thus reducing the amount of UVR reaching the nucleus (Tsatmali et al., 2002; Videira et al., 2013). This process of photoprotection is illustrated in Figure 1. This photoprotection is necessary as UVR can damage DNA causing mutations leading to cancer (Videira et al., 2013). These men and women created a legacy of spiritual fervor which has earned them a place in the annals of American religious history. Their effectiveness as preachers of the word and proclaimers of truth permeated a nation s consciousness and snatched the nation from spiritual decline. In the face of drone strikes, unending poverty, mass incarceration, and myriad social issues with spiritual ramifications, an Awakening is what is needed to turn this nation, its culture and its people around. It had to do with the moving of 6 million of African American from the southern hemisphere of the united states to the northern hemisphere around the time of the 20th century. To better explain this event in American history it would be best to start with the chain of events that caused it in the first place. That starting point would have to be the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. This was an announcement that was laid out to say that if any state if not by the start of the 1863 that is in rebellion would have all there slaves declared free if they did not reunite back with America. Abraham Lincoln, being the president at this time, pushed this through because would have hurt and reduce the South s capacity to start a war by encouraging and threatening that their slaves would leave the southern lines and come to America s. The simplest explanation for this was if material was heated to extreme temperatures as it was being accelerated by gravity onto a nearby object. If this would be true then the companion object had to be very small and very dense. The next pivotal discovery come with the launch of the Unuru x ray satellite on December 12th 1970.
