Abstract
In the late evening of March 3rd 2002, through to the evening of March 4th 2002,
Special
Operation Forces were engaged in an intense fire fight with al Qaeda forces on a
mountain top known as Takur Ghar. This battle was the product of a botched
reconnaissance insertion and ultimately resulted in a 24 hour fire fight and the
deaths of 7 U.S. service members and over 200 al Qaeda fighters. Navy SEAL, Neil
C. Roberts is believed to be the first U.S. casualty of this battle and thus, the battle
also became unofficially known as Roberts Ridge (1).

The ramp gunner was tethered to the aircraft and was retrieved back inside by the
remaining passengers. Roberts fell from the aircraft and was believed to still be
alive as the aircraft was only 10 feet off of the ground at the time it came under fire.
The helicopter was forced to crash land in the valley and now was 7 kilometers away
from the mountain top. Roberts was now completely alone amongst an overwhelming
enemy force and it is believed that he fought in place until he was eventually over run
by the enemy (3).
The downed SEALs were picked up by RAZOR 04 and at 0500, again attempted to
reinsert at Roberts last known position. Now they were only a team of 5 with the
addition of Air
Force CCT Chapman. The aircraft was able to insert the team but again came under
heavy fire and was also rendered mission incapable and had to fly back to its origin
due to the damage that it sustained. The team moved to the high ground of the
mountain engaging and killing 2 combatants, they then realized that they were
standing in the middle of multiple bunkers as they came under heavy cross fire from
only 20 meters away. Acoording to the official report,
Chapman was fatally wounded almost immediately and 2 others would also become

The guiding elements of holocracy include a range of ways to reorganise the
governance structure of organisations. This section will look through these elements
through two lenses. First, we ll use Zappos as an example to explain the elements.
But secondly, we ll also explain how these structures differ from the traditional model

Circle structure
Traditional organisations are generally structured around a hierarchic model. You
have someone above you in the organisation until you get to the top. But holocracy
removes this hierarchical structure in favour of a democratic circle structure.
What this means is that the roles form a circle structure within the organisation. For
example, certain roles regarding the organisation s finances might form a larger
circle. However, there is hierarchical organisation in the way the circles are laid out.
Certain circles are above others in terms of management. Nonetheless, each circle has
the ability to self organise.
The authority to decide the roles, to assign tasks and to take responsibility lies within
the circle, not a single person or a different part of the organisation.
Hsieh explained this structure is about moving faster, being more responsive and
adaptable, and enabling employees talents and passions to shine . Each circle can
gather around and adjust the roles and tasks ahead without having to run it through a
hierarchical system.
Rapid iterations replace big re organisations
Another element that comes together with this untraditional structure is the way
holocracy deals with re organisation. Unlike in traditional organisations, where
updates to structure happen every few years, under holocracy the structure is updated
in rapid iterations.

People assume students are young people who attend college to become adults, not
knowing that most students already carry on adult like responsibilities. Nowadays,
young people live on their own, without their parents help, and cannot afford to go to
school and pay rent, as well. During my high school years, I expected to be balancing
university activities with homework and dorming, not expenses and low paying

As I learned more, I found out that one of the major goals of a community college
is to prepare a student to a four year university. I also discovered later on that it is
actually cheaper spending two years in a Community College, rather than going
