Marcus Hamilton, an emotionally distraught, slightly racist Texas Ranger, attempts to catch the evil
doers as he comes to terms with his upcoming involuntary retirement and fear of uselessness and
death. Though the juxtaposition of the story archetype of cowboys versus Indians and the morally
complex characters, we see moral dilemmas that confront contemporary American policy, and the
cascading effect said policy has on everyday people. Hell or High Water shows the negative effects
of American capitalism, colonialism, and globalism, through the depravity of the banking system.
In allowing the banks to abuse impoverished individuals, America creates its own shadow, in this

I took a new approach with this project, where I thought about what type of room I was making
the shade for, as a person will have different lighting needs for each room, and shades should vary
based on that purpose. Many of the designs I saw were similar in their shape, but it was the
decoration that varied. I took a bedroom light shade as my challenge, where I wanted to make a
shade that could create a soft light, where the light would not shine directly down, but rather
flow to the ceiling and around. The shape itself was quite simple; a truncated cone which would
hang from the ceiling, with a smaller cone placed inside. The idea was that the majority of the
light would reflect back towards the ceiling, where it could fill the room, while a small amount
would come through the small gap between the cones. With this project, I made a similar task
for myself, to make a Christmas themed lantern. This was to explore the possible functions of
lighting and lamp shades, as well as how form follows function, so while my plan was to create
a decorative lantern with a Christmas look; it wasn t difficult for the form to create itself. I

What is cultural identity? What is my cultural identity? We can go into my mind to see what we

Aquaman Underrated Essay
Why Aquaman Is Underrated When someone asks who your favorite superhero is, Aquaman is not
a very common answer. But how much do they really know about him? All assumptions aside,
Aquaman is actually one of the most powerful DC Comic Book characters that exist. Although
Aquaman did not come around until the 1940s, the first newspaper comic strips started out in the
1890 (Harrison). A few nicknames given by people that do not appreciate the authenticity of
Aquaman include, The Prince of Tuna, the Aqualad from Atlantis, and the One SuperheroI Could
Probably Take Down in a Fight (Borrelli). People may give Aquaman more credit if they knew
more about his origin, his super abilities, and his impressive achievements. When the original
Aquaman was created, he was born into an underwater society of people who were just like him.
Aquaman was the only one of his kind to have fine hair like a human, which was severely looked
down upon. Because of this, as a child, Aquaman was abandoned by his parents and left at a
place called Mercy Reef to die. He was discovered by a dolphin named Porm. This dolphin raised
him until adolescence when he discovered a lighthouse keeper who took him in as his own son.

One of these includes being one of the founders of the Justice League, along with a few other well
known heroes such as Superman and Batman. The Justice League holds the best superheroes in
the DC universe. If Aquaman was not included in the best, I doubt Superman would even be
associated with him, but he is. He has also beat up Death with Death s own boat, took down the
guardian of Hell named Cerberus, and talked Hades into releasing himself and Poseidon.
