My Favorite Place Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "My Favorite Place" may seem like a straightforward task, as it
revolves around personal experiences and emotions. However, the challenge lies in capturing the
essence of the place and conveying it in a way that resonates with the reader. It requires a
delicate balance between vivid description and thoughtful reflection.
The difficulty arises from the subjective nature of the topic. Everyone's favorite place is unique
and holds personal significance, making it challenging to create a universally relatable piece.
Finding the right words to articulate the feelings associated with the place, the sensory details
that make it special, and the reasons behind its significance requires a nuanced approach.
Additionally, the writer must navigate the fine line between being too sentimental and overly
objective. Striking the right emotional tone is crucial to engage the reader without veering into
melodrama. It's about creating a connection between the reader and the described place,
allowing them to share in the writer's experience.
Organizing the essay poses another challenge. Structuring the narrative in a way that unfolds the
story of the favorite place coherently is essential. Jumping between past and present, weaving in
memories and current observations, demands careful planning to ensure a smooth and
compelling flow.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be rewarding. It allows the
writer to delve into cherished memories, explore emotions tied to a specific location, and hone
their descriptive and reflective skills. The difficulty lies not only in choosing the right words but
also in crafting a narrative that captures the essence of the favorite place authentically.
In conclusion, crafting a compelling essay on the topic of one's favorite place is a demanding
task that requires a balance of emotional depth, vivid description, and thoughtful reflection. It
challenges the writer to convey personal experiences in a way that resonates with a broader
audience. If you find yourself struggling, remember that HelpWriting.net offers assistance

Grid Down or Not: Tasks That Simply Cannot Wait
Whether you have electricity or not certain tasks still must be accomplished. Some
people liken a power failure to a snow day, where it s a free day. Free from the
hassles of school, chores, and responsibilities in general. It is not a free time, of
course for adults, for responsible adults. What makes the time different obviously is
that you have to accomplish your tasks without the benefit of electricity.
During the first few hours of a disruption, you are deciding if it will last. You expect,
as proven by outages in the past that the lights will flicker back on, the refrigerator
will start humming again, and the heat or AC will begin keeping you comfortable.
You do not worry about chores during this time. The clock is ticking however, just
how long will the power be disrupted, when will the faucets only deliver up air, do I
need to draw off any water, do I have enough water jugs. When will it get to hot or
cold in the house, and already you feel the hunger pangs, and it is hours before your
normal dinner time.

important that you have the means to prepare meals during an extended power outage.

The acquisition of SC has also the potential to add on unique liquor which is mixed

Besides, SC has strengthened channels of foreign distribution and tremendous
brand growth in 1977 compared with competitor brands in the same product line.
Because SC is not aggressively marketed and that it is wrongly positioned market,
because they think it is a whiskey. If acquired, SC could bring in the foreign
penetration capabilities and know how to BF. If aggressively marketed and
repositioned SC could add a lot of vale to BF too. SC also has a well reputable
brand offering and the management is well run and efficient, equal to that of BF
thus the acquisition of SC would fit well in BF style of management philosophy. SC
also has modern equipment which is an asset that could strengthen the asset base of
BF and could be used in the continued production of SC without replenishing the
asset in the foreseeable future and/or tries to adopt the production of SC to BF

position of BF could be enhanced. That could also improve agility or obtain

Essay about Human Genetic Engineering
Introduction What if you could design your child before it was even born? What if
you could cut out any life threatening diseases, make sure that your child is not
susceptible to smoking addictions or alcoholism, and then make your child genius?
Would you? Are you asking yourself how this could be done? Have you ever
considered human genetic engineering? What is Human Genetic Engineering? Lets
start by looking at the cell and the source of heritable traits. We know that all
organisms are made up by cells and that new cells can only spring from existing
cells. Cell growth depends upon the production of new cells and within each cell
exists DNA. DNA contains the hereditary instructions need for each organism to
grow and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically humans have ignored the risks of their actions. We are toolmakers. We
are constantly altering our environment to heighten our outlook for a better life. Are
we ready to face the possible consequences of the future? Time will only tell. The
Dark Side A genetically engineered product is anything that had been developed by
altering its DNA in some way. But do we have the right to do such a thing? There are
numerous problems with gene therapy and DNA manipulation. Can we play God?
What guarantees can we truly give? What about the possible mutation? What about
possible prejudice and discrimination? What effects would cloning have on an
individual? Wouldn t loss of genetic variation be a serious problem? Since antibiotic
resistance could occur, what happens when a person is sick? What about the
unexpected effects? Should we even interfere with nature? All of the above are things
that need to be considered before we can truly continue with research and
experimentation. There are no guarantees when changing genes. The possible and
unexpected mutations, antibiotic resistance, and all other effects are all unknown.
There are many questions that must be asked before making any kind of decision
towards the future of genetic engineering and towards human kind. We should
concern ourselves with the current issues and misfortunes. Scientists
Mechanism of Melatonin Stimulation of Growth Hormone...
Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin
inhibition
Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit

Abstract
Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone
releasing hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote
growth hormone secretion while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents
growth hormone secretion. Many studies have already shown that melatonin
stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but its
mechanisms remain unknown. I hypothesized that melatonin inhibits somatostatin at
transcription level through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the
SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of
the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are
coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They
are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the
presence of pertussis toxin[8].
Transduction Pathway
The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate
cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion
channels[8,6,33].
The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by
direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by
activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to
activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly
results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the
voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane
depolarization[8,6].
Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC
functions to catalyze hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol
triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol (DAG). Inositol
European Impact On The Indigenous People In The 1800 s
From the underhanded acts of dispossession to the unintentional carriage of diseases,
European settlement had an significant impact on the indigenous people of Australia.
With neither party backing down and the indigenous people being throughly
disadvantaged with their lack of technology, it is easy to say that the European
settlement of Australia had a significant impact on them. Along with convicts and
new technology, the First Fleet in 1788 also brought many diseases to the shores of
the unknown land that is now called Australia. A disease like influenza that is now
non fatal in the modern era was deadly back in the day, even to the Europeans who
had the more advanced technology at the time. Although the indigenous were fairly
healthy with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between the years 1790 and 1810, many clans of the Eora tribe located in Sydney
started a rebellion against the English colonisers. Led by Pemulwuy of the Bidjigal
clan, the indigenous people fought to take back what was rightfully theirs. In
1790, Pemulwuy killed a man who he believed was responsible for the
mistreatment of the indigenous people, Governor Philip s Gamekeeper. In
retaliation to this, Philip ordered his men to capture or kill some people from
Pemulwuy s tribe. Philip s soldiers never found Pemulwuy or any of the resistance
group during his reign as Governor; although Pemulwuy got captured at Parramatta
in 1797, shortly after he escaped and continued leading his people. But
unfortunately in 1802, Pemulwuy got shot by two settlers and his head was sent to
the Governor King. Following this, events such as the 1834 Battle of Pinjarra in
Western Australia, the 1838 Myall Creek Massacre in New South Wales and the
1843 Warrigal Creek Massacre in Victoria are examples of how bad the conflict
between the two were. There were massacres that were committed by both the settlers
and the indigenous people in most parts of the country; and since the Europeans had
more advanced weapons there was a much more dramatic decrease in deaths for the
Benjamin Franklin Reputation
Benjamin Franklin was a man of many different labels, some were desirable but
some were detrimental. He was known for things such as the creator of the
lightning rod, the Franklin Stove, and also the Bifocals. People saw him as an
essential politician and a leading activist in the development of the Declaration of
Independence, and U.S Constitution. But Franklin sorta had a history with women,
he was known as being an icon to attract the ladies back in that time period. It all
started at a young age, and only increased over time. Benjamin Franklin s
relationships with women, his relationships with two different families, shaped
him into the person he was and created his reputation. In today s society, social
media is used by almost everyone, there s many different type of apps where others
can communicate with one another. By saying that, that means your business is
always out there for everyone to see. If this was in Benjamin Franklin s case,
everyone would see how he was a man of many relationships and affairs. Benjamin
Franklin was married to his wife Deborah for over 40 years,
Carl s Bully
Once lived an eleven year old boy named Carl, who went to Boston Cathedral
primary school. However, he was very different from the other boys at his school.
Let s put it in this way he was unique. This was because he weighed 300 pounds,
had more pimples than you could count, had the biggest glasses ever made and
was so smart he could solve Albert Einstein s impossible equations with ease. He used
to be a very happy and normal kid at his school until a kid named Jack arrived. He
constantly tormented, hit and made Carl s life hell. Just for being different. Jack

and into the playground. This was a big day in their life. As they would go through
big events like when Carl s parents ended up adopting Jack the minute Jack s parents
went to jail for five counts of child abuse. They even stayed in the same college
room. Carl taught Jack how to get good grades and Jack taught Carl how to get fit
and eat right. They both became directors creating famous movies together like
Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. But these were nothing in comparison to Abuse, this
got them a record of four Oscars. This movie was about the story of them and how
they became friends. Carl and Jack ended up residing opposite each other in a rich
suburb of New York raising their kids and family together. Until the day Carl sadly
passed away. Jack mourned the death of Carl for weeks and weeks. He was so sad as
Carl saved him from being a person who probably would have been dead by then.
Jack died one year after Carl. Donating all his money to abuse and foster
Improving Health Care Organizations For The Better
Managed health care has come a long way in positive and negative ways to change
health care organizations for the better. Every aspect of managed health care
involves the time periods of early, middle and mature years of policies, growth, and
stability for organizations. Many inventions and laws were started from the beginning
of health care to become beneficial today for patients. Managed careprovided in the
early period times have been tremendously useful today as technology, medical
devices, social, and economic factors made managed care grow exceedingly well.

Universal health care among European people was very useful to have plenty of
services and treatments readily available for whenever they need it. For America,
the first time advances that contributed to early period managed care was the
American Industrial Revolution in the 1870s and 1880s. The start of this industry
was from the 1870s what computer technology has been from the 1970s and 80s,
(Orji, 2015, Powerpoint slide 10). The purpose of this was to hire adequate amount
of employees to carry out many managed health care services. We have occupation
specificity in diverse health care fields and they are growing more each year. The
unique part of the beginning stages of managed care had foreign and American parts
to contribute the influential ways.
Some of the specific examples of the early years of managed care were health care
plans. The Western Clinic in Tacoma, WA (logging industry), Farmers Cooperative
Plan in Elk City, OK; Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, San Francisco CA, (ship
building industry) and Group Health Association, Washington DC, (government).
These were the start ups in health care plans for the early period times of managed
care. These are all designed, controlled, and shaped health care for several people in
the world. Those health care plans helped to pave the way to for the next plans to be
mentioned. There were some programs formed to make payments, services, and
patient treatment process easy to calculate
Essay On Influenza Replicates In The Human Body
How influenza replicates in the human body Influenza, commonly called the fu, is a
viral infection that attacks the respiratory system. 5 to 20 percent of Americans will
be infected by the flu virus every year, causing about 200,000 hospitalizations and
36,000 deaths (Colds/Flu, National center for complementary and integrative health,
nccih.nih.gov). The influenzavirus enters the cell, injects its nucleic acid, transcribes
the RNA, assembles the new virion, and begins lysis of the cell. Influenza begins its
cycle by entering the host cell. Influenza has specifically evolved to enter a cell
without alerting any immune systemcells. To enter the cell, the virus will make use of

This acidic environment will enable the virus to open its matrix 2 ion channels.
Once the ion channels are opened, the newfound acidity will trigger the release of
vRNP into the host cell s cytoplasm. The viral capsid acts as the barrier between the
world and the most important part of the virus, the nucleic acid. The viral capsid
is composed of matrix protein M1 (Virus Structure, fsu.edu) that holds everything
together and plays a role in virus assembly. The viral capsid is the backbone of the
virus that holds everything together and has three main functions: to protect the
nucleic acid from digestion by enzymes, to hold the attachment proteins needed to
enter cells, and it provides special sites on the surface that allow the virus to attach
to cells. Inside the viral capsid is the RNA (ribonucleic acid), this acid is the set of
instructions that code for every single action the virus takes. RNA is made of:
cytosine, adenine, guanine, and uracil. Each of these are nucleotides that pair up
with other specific nucleotides to do a certain job, e.g. cytosine goes with guanine
while adenine goes with uracil (complementary base pairing, wisc.edu). RNA has
eight segments that code for proteins, some of the proteins that the influenza A virus
codes for are: PB1, PB2, PB1 F2, PA, HA, NP, NA, MI,

Snow also tells Katniss that uprisings have begun because of her rebellious acts.
Finally, President Snow says that he does not believe that Katniss and Peeta are

Bhopal Plant Responsible For The Production Of Carbaryl
The Bhopal Plant
As previously stated, the Bhopal plant was responsible for the production of
Carbaryl, otherwise known as Sevin which was released under the brand name
Eveready. The plant itself aided Bhopal somewhat with attracting new people with
the promise of jobs and fixing the inconsistent electricity supplied to the city. While
the plant was initially very profitable, eventually the market changed, leaving the
factory making a loss every year. The plant eventually stopped producing Sevin due
to a large backlog of Methyl Isocyanate and little demand in the market for it[1].
Many of the safety features could have reduced the severity, or completely stopped
the Bhopal Disaster altogether. However, with none of these active, very little
stopped the Methyl Isocyanate cloud from descending upon Bhopal. In addition
staff size was reduced below recommended levels, leaving very few workers on
shifts with only a single supervisor[1]. Available positions would now be a less
attractive prospect to workers, leading workers with fewer skills than previously to
take up positions in the plant. Over 50 tons of Methyl Isocyanate in liquid form was
stored in two tanks beneath the plants (though some workers claim that a 3rd reserve
tank was in use too), and were kept there for several months.
This makes it exceedingly likely that much of the maintenance and security features
were turned off to prevent losing money every year. The parent company likely
ignored many safety suggestions

Officially, MAOIs are not labeled as addictive, but many people dispute that claim.
For example, a study in Denmark argued that SSRIs should be considered addictive
substances because people who quit often exhibit typical withdrawal symptoms
(known as SSRI discontinuation syndrome )such as insomnia, disturbed stomach,
confusion, depression, and even panic attacks. In fact, that study stated that SSRI
discontinuation syndrome shared 37 of the 42 symptoms commonly associated with
drug withdrawal. Those findings have been highly disputed by many in the medical
industry, but are worth noting if you are already struggling to overcome your
addiction in rehabilitation.
The Use of Antidepressants in Drug Rehabilitation In spite of the concerns associated
with antidepressants and their negative impact with certain therapy medicines and
their potentially addictive qualities, they are still regularly used in drug rehabilitation.
That s because their positives still outweigh the negatives, especially when dealing
with the mental illness that often comes with illicit drug

Henri inspired other painters to seek authenticity, a quality that is combined with the

the ability in restoring the outward appearances of individuals and instead celebrating
the creative process.
One way they were able to achieve through the 1905 Hester Street painting that
celebrated the scampering streets of urban life, as it displayed immigrant
shoppers, curious onlookers, casual strollers, and pushcart peddlers to represent
citizens as of equal importance. The purpose was to overlook the overcrowding,
crime, and sheer poverty of the slums by creating a more colorful and lively place
that represented hope in the future. Yet she is also a type, both easily recognizable
and representative to isolate and define the terms of race, ethnicity, and class as he
considered the nation s democratic character and identity (Doss, 2002, p. 49).
Another prime example they were able to depict this was in The 1907 Eva Green
painting, which main purpose was to reject the derogatory depictions of American

Gleaners Teamwork
What I liked most about the volunteer work at Gleaners was the result of the work
itself. It was satisfying to hear the supervisor give us the total of 15 tons sorted
through. It put a number on the amount of help we were doing, and it made the
work feel even more rewarding to know how much we accomplished. It also was
amazing to hear how, if not for our presence, all of said work would ve fallen on that
one supervisor. I cannot fathom how he could manage to do that much work in a
decent amount of time, so it only added to that feeling of doing something good. I
also enjoyed the teamwork in the work itself because it always feels good to be in
sync with other people. It gives a sense of comradery, and in this type of volunteer
work it also establishes a base of trust. The team effort helped for the project to move
quicker, and it made it much more enjoyable.
I would have to say what I liked least about the volunteer project was the labor, in
and of itself. It was a lot to manage at once and it was especially difficult
considering the weight of many of the boxes. There were also the many broken
packages that made it much more difficult to maneuver the loads. For example, it

Future of Brewing When a small sign was hung on a little cafe in Waitsfield, Vermont
in 1981, nobody would have imagined that Green Mountain Coffee Roasters [GMCR]
would become one of the world s leading specialty coffee makers. Through hard
work, Demand quickly grew beyond the walls of the cafГ©, and many other local
companies requested GMCR coffee to offer their customers (GMCR, Company
Overview, 2009, p. 1). Today, GMCR is recognized as a leader in the specialty
coffee industry for its award winning coffees, innovative brewing technology and

By vertically integrating, GMCR will be able to reduce costs and move closer to
the more for less category of the Possible Value Propositions matrix. Despite this
higher price, over 90% [of buyers] give positive satisfaction ratings for their Keurig
Brewer (GMCR, Annual Report, 2009, p.10). This rating of consumer satisfaction
shows that GMCR s focus on convenience and consistency in their marketing is very
effective. GMCR has achieved this success by initially marketing its Keurig office
brewers to business and hotel targets. Since then, GMCR has created at home and
travel Keurig brewers at lower prices along with a new vending program that allows
them to target commercial and manufacturing environments (GMCR, Annual Report,
2009). With its transition into the growth stage, GMCR has promoted its products
primarily by expanding into new retail stores such as Walmart, Target, Macy s, and
Bed Bath Beyond; holding massive sampling events; and expanding its television
advertising to include QVC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and the Food Network (GMCR,
Annual Report, 2009). This intensive distribution will provide GMCR with the ability
to reach new segments while supplying the huge demand accompanying the growth
stage. The past,

The Process of Human Gene Therapy
Human gene therapy is a procedure that is currently being used to help fight
diseases with no known cures. Gene testing removes a gene that causes a disease
and replaces it with a healthy copy of that gene. By placing a healthy copy of the
gene inside the patient s body, that gene can help fight any diseases, such as different
forms of cancer, inherited disorders, immune systemdiscords or viral infections
(AIDS). Once inside the cell, the genes produce what the patient lacks, it kills the
diseased cells and it activates cells in the immune system. Before the procedure
begins, blood is drawn from the bone marrow in your hipbone from a needle, and
then the blood is brought back to a laboratory where the cells are located. Next, the
blood cells are exposed to a vector that contains the wanted genetic material. After
this vector has been placed into the cells, those cells are injected back into the
patient s veins or tissues. Aside from vectors being used to alter cells, scientists
also use different vectors, such as stem cells or liposomes. Since stem cells are
cells which create other cells, they are transformed into cells that help fight
diseases. Liposomes are particles that carry the new genes to the diseased cells and
pass on genes into the DNA of cells. However, there are many barriers that get in the
way of this procedure and scientists are still researching different methods to make
this procedure 100% successful and effective. Three main barriers of genetherapy are

An Investigation into the Factors Affecting the Rate of the Reaction between
Calcium Carbonate and Hydrochloric Acid
A chemical reaction is the process by which atoms or groups of atoms are
redistributed, resulting in a change in the molecular composition of substances. The
reaction rate is how quickly a reaction occurs and this can be affected by four
different factors:
ВЎВ¤changing the surface area of any solids involved
ВЎВ¤changing the concentration of reactants in solution
ВЎВ¤changing the temperature at which it is carried out
ВЎВ¤the use of a catalyst

In order to make my experiment safe I will wear goggles and an overall when I
handle the acid as it is corrosive and if any came in contact with my skin during the
experiment I would wash it off immediately. As I described above, my experiments
will be fair as it will be performed under the same conditions, with hopefully only the
concentration of acid being altered for each experiment.
The equipment should be set up as shown in the diagram below:
The small marble chip will be placed in the conical flask first and then the
hydrochloric acid will be poured into the flask and as soon as all the acid is in I will
start the stop clock and put the bung on the flask. I will then watch the pencilled
cross from and above and stop the clock at the exact moment that I can no longer see
the circle. I will record this time in my results table and then set up the experiment for
the next measurement.
Modifications following preliminary experiment
For my trial experiment, I placed one small marble chip in 50cm Гё of 1 molar
hydrochloric acid and timed how long it took before a pencilled cross was no
longer visible under a conical flask containing 10cm Гё of limewater. Although the
limewater began to turn cloudy eventually, it took more than 10 minutes to do so
and I believe there were a few reasons for this.
Character Analysis Of Shylock In The Merchant Of Venice
In The Merchant of Venice, Shylock is one of Shakespeare s most complicated
characters. Throughout the play he seemingly hates everyone save Tubal, a Jewish
friend. He even refuses to acknowledge his daughter because she runs away to marry
Lorenzo. Nevertheless, Shylock is a fascinating character because initially it is
difficult to know whether to embrace him or reject him. To support Shylockis to
condone murder, but to reject Shylock is to ignore the plight of someone who
seems to be hated possibly because of his religion and race. However, as Shylock s
character is gradually revealed through his famous defensive speech, Shakespeare
leads us to dislike Shylock and recognize his character as one of pitiful selfishness.
Act III begins with Salanio and Salarino discussing the unfortunate wrecks of
Antonio s ships, a tragedy that sets the stage for the eventual courtroom encounter
between Shylock and Antonio. Shylock s speech is bookended by an argument that
he has with Salanio and Salarino. Shylock accuses them of knowing that Jessica,
Shylock s daughter, has run away. They parry that they did in fact know, but they
are not apologetic for it. Salarino then changes the subject and asks Shylock whether
he has any knowledge of Antonio s losses. Salarino asks Shylock what benefit there
would be in taking a man s flesh, a question which prompts Shylock to begin his
discourse.
Shylock begins his speech with a litany of wrongs he has suffered at the hand of

Case Study Of Brewster-Seaview Landscaping Co.
Motivation is a key factor when it comes to general performance in any given
situation, whether it s performance at work, school, or any sort of activity, such as
sports or video games. It is what pushes us to put in the amount of effort needed to
successfully perform and achieve our personal goals and tasks. The situation
described in the Brewster Seaview Landscaping Co. case study happens more often
than not, and not only in landscaping companies. In almost every job, there is a
hierarchy of employees that ultimately lead to the top of the pyramid, the head boss.
It is safe to say that at each level of the hierarchy, not everyone is perfect and liked.
There is always that one supervisor or boss that does the complete opposite of

then change the system they had in place to make it more enjoyable for their

flexible. Tolerance in coming into work in the morning should also be flexible as
it is best for employees to get to work safely rather than rush and get hurt on the
way. As well as the changes noted earlier, their workers should be able to have fun
working around each other again and get to know their customers. Joe was big on
helping his employees work, as he did the physical work alongside them, so the
supervisors should humble themselves and help out their crew once in a while. This
short term action plan should improve the immediate overall effectiveness of

Luther King Jr. When I asked him if he approved of same sex marriage, he said, No,
it is an abomination. Why would God create one male and one female if gay couples
were supposed to exist? He also said, Where in the Bible, God s word, does it say that
gay marriageis okay? My grandfather did say that he does approve of equal
marriage rights for everyone. He does not believe gay people should marry in the
first place, but they should have equal rights when it comes to jobs and health care.
He remembers being a strong supporter of the Prop 8, but he says, Now that society

At the tender age of two I moved from a development in the town of
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania to the vast stretches of farmland that make up the
area between Mechanicsburg and the neighboring town of Dillsburg. It was not a
big move distance wise, but it would forever change my life. If I would have
stayed where I was I would have went to a different high school, had a different set
of friends, and who knows where I would be today. While I did not know it at the

I also know that twice each year The Outlaws come to town, and it is an incredible

around to different tracks all around the United States. Whenever they come to the
Grove it is usually their only stop in the midstate and they race against each other and
the local drivers who band together into what is known as the Pennsylvania Posse. In
our local paper they usually have a write up about The Outlaws whenever they
come to town, so this is where most of my basic information comes from. For living
so close to the track I should probably know more than I do, but that s about the
extent of my knowledge.
In my quest for knowledge my first stop was pretty easy to find. I went to the
Williams Grove website because it seemed like a logical place to start my search. On
this website I found a lot of information on drivers, tickets, past grove winners and
many other topics. One section of the website that was particularly interesting to me
was the page with sprint car specs on it. These specs are what Williams Grove
requires if you are going to race there so this seemed as good a place to start as any.
According to Williams Grove s website a sprint car is defined as a racing vehicle of
single seat design, built upon a racing chassis and mounted on four racing wheels.

Climate Change And Its Effects
Though the center of much debate, one undeniable fact is that climate change is
occurring and affects every part of planet Earth. Some effects are actually positive,
such as higher rates of photosynthesis in trees due to absorption of more abundant
CO2 and warmer temperatures. However, most of the negative effects of climate
change outweigh or counteract positive growth. Negative effects of climate changeare
affecting the land, water, plants, and animal life on planet Earth. Climate change has
provided both gifts and curses for Earth s forests. One of the most prevalent issues
associated with climate change affecting forests are forest fires. Both the frequency
and range of forest fires has increased in recent decades. In fact, information
published by the EPA reports that, burned area more than doubled between the 1960s
/70s and the 1980s/90s. (Backlund, p. 81) Extreme weather events, such as lightning
storms, are increasing in number, causing the initiation of more fires, while higher
temperatures and longer warm seasons are prolonging and promoting the wildfires.
Another important effect of climate change is the temperature increases, which affect
surface water. When the temperature of surface water sources such as streams, rivers,
and lakes increases, fish and other organisms, which live in the water, are negatively
affected. According to the EPA article, Water Impacts of Climate Change, fish species
are negatively affected by rising water temperatures because,
To The Virgins To Make Much Of Time Poem
*Hook*. While both poems, To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert
Herrick and Spring by Enda St. Vincent Millay, rely on the imagery of nature and
poem structure to present their theme, the meaning of the techniques are very
different. *Thesis, here state actual literary devices*
In the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time , Herrick presents life as
something that is beautiful and should be taken advantage of. Herrick utilizes the
imagery of nature to propose the meaning of life and instructions to make it the best.
Carpe Diem is an expression where one seizes the day, just as one gather ye rose buds

Vincent Millay spring is conveyed as the opposite, death and a meaningless life.
The natural imagery that Millay applies to the poem is very dark and tense. On the
surface the smell of the earth is good (line 8), it is apparent that there is no death
(line 9) in spring, but the truth is under ground are the brains of men [,] eaten by
maggots [,] life in itself is nothing (line 11 14). The image that is created in this
poem fluctuates as first we are presents with a lie, that spring is beautiful in its
entirety. However, Millay reveals the truth of spring by talking about its weaknesses.
Although natural is related to beauty, in this poem Millay utilizes the natural essence
of the underground earth and maggots to create a very horrific and intense profile of
spring. In addition the plot twist surprises the reader not only through the words but
also by the sudden change in the visualization. This surprise quickly makes the reader
visualize spring as death, the underground and maggots , instead of the smell of the
earth and absence of death Millay appropriately utilize the imagery of nature to
promote the theme of how spring signifies death and a pointless life. Furthermore this
signifies that image and existence of death overwhelms the beauty that life
Huckleberry Finn Racism Quotes Analysis
In addition, both Twain and Pyle use discrimination as a motif in their story lines to
further solidify the relationships between the characters. Being that Jim is a black
man in a southern country, he is completely discriminated against and it s for that
reason that Huck comes to Jim s rescue a number of times during their adventures
and is a key factor in their survival; during nighttime, Huck goes into town to buy
provisions and supplies. In the mornings, he slips into cornfields to borrow, produce

During Huck and Jim s travel down the river, they meet several people that prove
to be obstacles in their overall goal to freedom. One of the more significant
antagonists in Huck Finn is Pap, Huck s drunken father, By and by re rolled out
and jumped up on his feet looking wild... He chased me round and round with a
clasp knife, calling me the Angel of Death, and saying that he would kill me.
(Twain 29). This event is essentially what finally made Huck abandon any desire he
had left to be part of society and instead to stand on his own morals and not let
society dictate what he does. Pap is the reason that Huck and Jim first met on the
island and he is virtually what started their adventure. Also Pap s next appearance
in the book plays an essential role in the bonding of Huck and Jim. As previously
mentioned throughout the story readers see how Jim takes the fatherly role, well
that all began when Pap s dead body washed up in a house on shore and Jim
protects Huck from the pain of seeing his dead father. All this to say that Pap one of
the major antagonists in the story, plays a big role in strengthening the bond between
Huck and Jim. This bond eventually becomes the reason for why Huck is unable to
turn in his friend; thus once again proving that self morals are more influential than
society s ethics. To continue, like Pap, Prince John has no regards for the feelings
Effects Of Political Corruption In Nigeria
Political corruption is a significant problem in Africa. Many of the regions in
Africa were seeking for independence from European nations that had caused for
political views to differ. The ideas of leaders were not all similar which may have
created a majority of these countries in Africa to express their feelings and form
their own political parties. Besides wanting to be freed from European rule, the rise
of political corruption could also be faulted to the African leaders of different regions

The transformation of politics in Nigeria fell into the trap of military rule that caused
for chaos to occur across the country. Colonial chiefs were taking positions in
office which they were not qualified for and used force and bribery to win over the
people of Nigeria. The idea that Nigeria was being set up in this form of
government was misleading and did not let the people feel as though they were
independent. Regional leaders were seeking to take over local politics of this
country and were able to do so when it came to the national and local elections.
When Nigeria, revamped their constitution in the 1950s, which divided Nigeria into
three different regions caused a fight to see who would control the political party.
Nigeria located in West Africa is made up of three separate cultures in the area that
lead to disunity and issues with the government. The Hausa Fulani in the north, the
Yoruba in the west, and Ibo in the east. Amongst these cultures, they started to form
their political parties. There was the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons,
the Action Group and Northern People s Congress. The British should be held
responsible for encouraging these groups to compete against one another. The British
were responsible for favoring other political parties over others that would help create
cockiness to development in the long run. The British mostly supported the N.C.N.C

Switching To Year-Round School
One of the most documented reasons for switching to a year round school is what s
known as the summer slide. Students leave spring semester after taking their exams
and don t think about school for almost 12 weeks. These students then come back in
the fall not only failing at subjects they knew three months prior, but in dire need of
having the foundations re taught to them. This forces teachers to spend valuable
class time re teaching lessons, which dips into class time that should be used for
grade appropriate lessons. In her article, O Sulivan theorizes, the less times students
are away from school, the less time teachers will have to spend reviewing material
from the previous year and acclimating students to classroom rules and procedures ....

However it can be argued that the more frequent breaks throughout the year will
leave students feeling refreshed and ready to continue learning when they get
back. In the proposition detailed above, students will have a series of breaks
throughout the school year, with the longest being three weeks over the winter
holidays. This gives ample amounts of time for families to vacation and celebrate
together and hopefully leave the students feeling refreshed and ready to learn when
they get back. It was also indicated by administrators that renewed motivation and
continuous injection of new ideas maintained a higher level of enthusiasm than
[students] had experienced in their previous traditional calendar schools and that
they fully believed this was a critical factor in improving student performance
throughout the year (Shields). It should also be noted that the vast majority of jobs
offered globally do not have a summer break, and by shortening summers from 13
weeks to 7, students will be more prepared to enter the work force once out of
school, and should have an easier time transitioning into the year round life as
opposed to students used to taking 10 to 13 weeks off at

Steroids And Other Performance Enhancing Drugs
Steroids and other performance enhancing drugs have been banned from Major
League Baseball since 1991; however, this law was not strictly enforced by the
Major League Baseball Players Association (Anabolic Steroids). The MLBPA to
date has become much more involved in the issue of PED use in the MLB, and
they do test many of the players for traces of steroids. Few players are caught each
year, but when a big name pops up, the whole debacle headlines newspapers,
constantly talked about on sports networks and becomes a huge deal. That big
name player that was caught using steroids is then given an agreed sentence of
suspended games, sometimes they are even revoked of their chance to be in the
exalted MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The use of steroids and other
performance enhancing drugs should be more heavily managed and more
severely punished. For years my coaches have told me that baseball is a metaphor
for life. This is true in many ways. There are countless activities and goals one can
chase after in life, but all of them are based on the person s character. It is critical to
make wise decisions, and carry out those decisions well. Making the wrong decisions
or poorly executing the right ones will eventually change one s character in a
negative manner. Although sports differ from each other in multiple ways, every
sport has an end goal that is fundamental to the sport, and toward all activity in that
sport. I have three main points about players that use PEDs: they
Eassy On Beauty
What does beauty mean to you? For some beauty may lie in the various blossoms
in the trees, whereas for others it may simply be the leaves lying scattered over the
grass, dying out from green to brown before decomposing into the soil. When
something is referred to as beautiful is may be ugly, sad or even weird because
there is no particular definition of beauty. Beauty is an indefinable concept that
provides a perceptual experience of satisfaction or pleasure for many people.
When people are asked to define beauty many refer to the phrase beauty is in the
eyes of the beholder but what is more important; it is to be your own beholder. We
as individuals, our communities, our cultures and even different societies have
different perceptions and definitions of what is beautiful. In fact, many of us
develop a certain perception on what beautiful is simply from what we tend to see
around us. Through the exposure to media, the influence from cultural differences
and even simply the idea of beauty and age, all contribute to the fact that beauty
has no right definition. What comes to your mind when you picture a beautiful
woman or man? Maybe a woman who is thin, fair, tall, has perfect skin and is well
dressed or maybe a man who is tall, muscular and has a six pack. The irony behind
this is the fact that in our daily lives, we don t usually see many people who fit
these descriptions set out by the media. However, we get these ideas of what an
ideal woman or man looks

Racism In Midnight Without A Moon By Linda Williams
Jackson
Racism; a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races
determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one s
own race is superior and has the right to rule others. In the historical fiction novel,
Midnight Without a Moon, by Linda Williams Jackson, the author shows how
horribly blacks were treated when they tried to vote. The main character, Rose Lee
Carter, battles with understanding why blacks were facing such repercussions while
trying to fight for their rights. Levi Jackson, Reverend George W. Lee, and Lamar
Smith face several acts of racism while trying to vote, and because of this, they are
brutally murdered. However, the reader is left wondering if the punishments the
characters received actually occurred in real life. In Midnight Without a Moon, the
author uses history by including key details to emphasize how far whites were
willing to go in order to ensure that blacks wouldn t be allowed to vote, while at times
altering it to highlight the intense feelings Rose has over the situation.
In the novel, Midnight Without a Moon, thirteen year old Rose Lee Carter struggles
with racism in her town of Stillwater, Mississippi. During this time period, being
considered African American was a disadvantage in society because you weren t
given the same respect as white people. This was a challenge, because it violated basic
human rights, especially being allowed to vote. As a result of this, Rose encounters

There are different advantages and disadvantages of peripheral nerve electrodes:
Advantages: Nerve electrical activity can be recorded with the help of same
electrodes, Electrical characteristics don t seem to be suffering from changes in
muscle length throughout the movement, Reduction of dangerous electrochemical
processes. Disadvantages: Chance of damage to nervesdue to implantation of
electrode, Implantation also requires sensitive surgical process, which depends upon
the availability of the nerves.
In this paper, the main aspects of interfaces with the PNS are reviewed.
Organization of PNS:
Peripheral nerves consists of different types of nerve fibers.Sensory fibers convey
numerous sensory inputs which are mainly mechanicaland harmful stimuli. The type
of nerve fibers is always different as it depends on the nerve and the anatomical
location. Somatic peripheral nerves are sensory and also mixed. The fascicular
architecture varies the length of the nerve and it also increases the number of
fascicles of smaller size. The normal activities of the body are controlled utilizing the
efferent neural signs going from the CNS to the PNS to enroll distinctive muscles.
Every spinal motoneuron creates synaptic contact with large number of muscle fibers,
which constitutes of a motor unit. Nervous system generates the graded contraction
of each and every muscle by increasing

First Nation is a special group of people who live in Canada. Their cultures, traditions
and lifestyles are totally different from other Canadian and in the Canadian history
the unequal treatment of aboriginal people influence them to be different. Also, this
debate will influence the profits of First Nation. Some of the main issues they see as
pertinent in the separatist debates are issues of land rights, resource management, and
their right to self determination. (Etzel 2015) If Quebec is independent, First Nation
will lose the support from federal government and be controlled by Quebec
government. Without Canadian supporting, they will lose rights due them and will
influence the relationship to withe First Nations. Furthermore, this Quebec debate

The Theories Of Albert Bandura Essay
Albert Bandura is a psychologist who states that behavior is learned from the
environment through the process of observational learning. He believes that humans
are active information processors and connects their behavior and consequences. He
didn t believe that direct reinforcement could lead to any type of learning. Instead, his
theory stated that learning occurs simply by observing the actions of others.
Children observe any influential models such as parents, teachers, siblings and peers
around them. which connects to his theory about how a child is more likely to
imitate those people it perceives as similar to itself like those of the same sex.
Bandura s theory describes the majority of what I observed when I went to
Montgomery Child Care Association. I arrived there at 9:00 AM as the children
were starting to enter the building. The classes were separated by names. The one I
was in was called The Dinosaur class . The children began to remove their jackets
and hang it in their individual cabinets as they had seen the teachers doing. There
were three adults and twenty, two to three year olds. One of the teacher began the
day by showing half the kids magic tricks. First, she put glue in a water bottle and
put a thick black paper in it. She then began to shake it rapidly. She pulled out the
black paper that is now in the form of spiders.
The five children observed what she was doing and began to copy her to do the
same. The children were very fascinated and

My Favorite Place Essay. My favorite place to relax essay

  • 1. My Favorite Place Essay Writing an essay on the topic "My Favorite Place" may seem like a straightforward task, as it revolves around personal experiences and emotions. However, the challenge lies in capturing the essence of the place and conveying it in a way that resonates with the reader. It requires a delicate balance between vivid description and thoughtful reflection. The difficulty arises from the subjective nature of the topic. Everyone's favorite place is unique and holds personal significance, making it challenging to create a universally relatable piece. Finding the right words to articulate the feelings associated with the place, the sensory details that make it special, and the reasons behind its significance requires a nuanced approach. Additionally, the writer must navigate the fine line between being too sentimental and overly objective. Striking the right emotional tone is crucial to engage the reader without veering into melodrama. It's about creating a connection between the reader and the described place, allowing them to share in the writer's experience. Organizing the essay poses another challenge. Structuring the narrative in a way that unfolds the story of the favorite place coherently is essential. Jumping between past and present, weaving in memories and current observations, demands careful planning to ensure a smooth and compelling flow. Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be rewarding. It allows the writer to delve into cherished memories, explore emotions tied to a specific location, and hone their descriptive and reflective skills. The difficulty lies not only in choosing the right words but also in crafting a narrative that captures the essence of the favorite place authentically. In conclusion, crafting a compelling essay on the topic of one's favorite place is a demanding task that requires a balance of emotional depth, vivid description, and thoughtful reflection. It challenges the writer to convey personal experiences in a way that resonates with a broader audience. Some people liken a power failure to a snow day, where it s a free day. Free from the hassles of school, chores, and responsibilities in general. It is not a free time, of course for adults, for responsible adults. What makes the time different obviously is that you have to accomplish your tasks without the benefit of electricity. During the first few hours of a disruption, you are deciding if it will last. You expect, as proven by outages in the past that the lights will flicker back on, the refrigerator will start humming again, and the heat or AC will begin keeping you comfortable. You do not worry about chores during this time. The clock is ticking however, just how long will the power be disrupted, when will the faucets only deliver up air, do I need to draw off any water, do I have enough water jugs. When will it get to hot or cold in the house, and already you feel the hunger pangs, and it is hours before your normal dinner time. Meals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What if you could cut out any life threatening diseases, make sure that your child is not susceptible to smoking addictions or alcoholism, and then make your child genius? Would you? Are you asking yourself how this could be done? Have you ever considered human genetic engineering? What is Human Genetic Engineering? Lets start by looking at the cell and the source of heritable traits. We know that all organisms are made up by cells and that new cells can only spring from existing cells. Cell growth depends upon the production of new cells and within each cell exists DNA. DNA contains the hereditary instructions need for each organism to grow and... The Dark Side A genetically engineered product is anything that had been developed by altering its DNA in some way. But do we have the right to do such a thing? There are numerous problems with gene therapy and DNA manipulation. Can we play God? What guarantees can we truly give? What about the possible mutation? What about possible prejudice and discrimination? What effects would cloning have on an individual? Wouldn t loss of genetic variation be a serious problem? Since antibiotic resistance could occur, what happens when a person is sick? What about the unexpected effects? Should we even interfere with nature? All of the above are things that need to be considered before we can truly continue with research and experimentation. There are no guarantees when changing genes. The possible and unexpected mutations, antibiotic resistance, and all other effects are all unknown. There are many questions that must be asked before making any kind of decision towards the future of genetic engineering and towards human kind. We should concern ourselves with the current issues and misfortunes. Scientists

Mechanism of melatonin stimulation of growth hormone release via somatostatin inhibition Joseph Angelo Israel Peguit University of the Philippines in the Visayas Cebu College Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division Abstract Secretion of growth hormone is affected by two primary hormones: Growth hormone releasing hormone and somatostatin. The former is the primary stimulant to promote growth hormone secretion while the latter is the primary inhibitor that prevents growth hormone secretion. Many studies have already shown that melatonin stimulates secretion of growth hormone via somatostatin inhibition but its mechanisms remain unknown. This means that any regulation of melatonin on other hormones happen mostly in the SCN in the hypothalamus. The receptors of melatonin belong to the Gi/Go type of the superfamily of G Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR)[8]. The G proteins are coupled to a number of effector systems influencing the intracellular signalling. They are designated as Gi/Go type because of their characteristic being inhibited by the presence of pertussis toxin[8]. Transduction Pathway The effector systems coupled to the melatonin receptors include the Adenylate cyclase, phospholipase C, L type calcium channels, and ATP sensitive K+ ion channels[8,6,33]. The inhibition of calcium influx via the L type calcium channels may be mediated by direct inactivation by the G protein[6] and/or through induced hyperpolarization by activation of ATP sensitive K+ channel[6]. Activation of the G proteins results to activation of ATP sensitive K+ channels. The active transport of K+ ion intracellularly results to hyperpolarization of the membrane. The hyperpolarization inactivates the voltage sensitive L type Ca2+ channels which only opens during membrane depolarization[8,6]. Melatonin receptor activation inhibits activity of Phospholipase C (PLC)[8]. PLC functions to catalyze hydrolysis of phosphatidyl inositol (4,5) bisphosphate to Inositol triphosphate (IP3) and Diacyglycerol (DAG). Inositol

With neither party backing down and the indigenous people being throughly disadvantaged with their lack of technology, it is easy to say that the European settlement of Australia had a significant impact on them. Along with convicts and new technology, the First Fleet in 1788 also brought many diseases to the shores of the unknown land that is now called Australia. Between the years 1790 and 1810, many clans of the Eora tribe located in Sydney started a rebellion against the English colonisers. Led by Pemulwuy of the Bidjigal clan, the indigenous people fought to take back what was rightfully theirs. In 1790, Pemulwuy killed a man who he believed was responsible for the mistreatment of the indigenous people, Governor Philip s Gamekeeper. In retaliation to this, Philip ordered his men to capture or kill some people from Pemulwuy s tribe. Philip s soldiers never found Pemulwuy or any of the resistance group during his reign as Governor; although Pemulwuy got captured at Parramatta in 1797, shortly after he escaped and continued leading his people. But unfortunately in 1802, Pemulwuy got shot by two settlers and his head was sent to the Governor King. Following this, events such as the 1834 Battle of Pinjarra in Western Australia, the 1838 Myall Creek Massacre in New South Wales and the 1843 Warrigal Creek Massacre in Victoria are examples of how bad the conflict between the two were. There were massacres that were committed by both the settlers and the indigenous people in most parts of the country; and since the Europeans had more advanced weapons there was a much more dramatic decrease in deaths for the

Once the ion channels are opened, the newfound acidity will trigger the release of vRNP into the host cell s cytoplasm. The viral capsid acts as the barrier between the world and the most important part of the virus, the nucleic acid. The viral capsid is composed of matrix protein M1 (Virus Structure, fsu.edu) that holds everything together and plays a role in virus assembly. The viral capsid is the backbone of the virus that holds everything together and has three main functions: to protect the nucleic acid from digestion by enzymes, to hold the attachment proteins needed to enter cells, and it provides special sites on the surface that allow the virus to attach to cells. Inside the viral capsid is the RNA (ribonucleic acid), this acid is the set of instructions that code for every single action the virus takes. RNA is made of: cytosine, adenine, guanine, and uracil. Each of these are nucleotides that pair up with other specific nucleotides to do a certain job, e.g. cytosine goes with guanine while adenine goes with uracil (complementary base pairing, wisc.edu). RNA has eight segments that code for proteins, some of the proteins that the influenza A virus codes for are: PB1, PB2, PB1 F2, PA, HA, NP, NA, MI,

  • 15. Bhopal Plant Responsible For The Production Of Carbaryl The Bhopal Plant As previously stated, the Bhopal plant was responsible for the production of Carbaryl, otherwise known as Sevin which was released under the brand name Eveready. The plant itself aided Bhopal somewhat with attracting new people with the promise of jobs and fixing the inconsistent electricity supplied to the city. While the plant was initially very profitable, eventually the market changed, leaving the factory making a loss every year. The plant eventually stopped producing Sevin due to a large backlog of Methyl Isocyanate and little demand in the market for it[1]. Many of the safety features could have reduced the severity, or completely stopped the Bhopal Disaster altogether. However, with none of these active, very little stopped the Methyl Isocyanate cloud from descending upon Bhopal. In addition staff size was reduced below recommended levels, leaving very few workers on shifts with only a single supervisor[1]. Available positions would now be a less attractive prospect to workers, leading workers with fewer skills than previously to take up positions in the plant. Over 50 tons of Methyl Isocyanate in liquid form was stored in two tanks beneath the plants (though some workers claim that a 3rd reserve tank was in use too), and were kept there for several months. This makes it exceedingly likely that much of the maintenance and security features were turned off to prevent losing money every year. The parent company likely ignored many safety suggestions

For example, a study in Denmark argued that SSRIs should be considered addictive substances because people who quit often exhibit typical withdrawal symptoms (known as SSRI discontinuation syndrome )such as insomnia, disturbed stomach, confusion, depression, and even panic attacks. In fact, that study stated that SSRI discontinuation syndrome shared 37 of the 42 symptoms commonly associated with drug withdrawal. Those findings have been highly disputed by many in the medical industry, but are worth noting if you are already struggling to overcome your addiction in rehabilitation. The Ashcan School rebelled against skillful, finished portraits by having the ability in restoring the outward appearances of individuals and instead celebrating the creative process. One way they were able to achieve through the 1905 Hester Street painting that celebrated the scampering streets of urban life, as it displayed immigrant shoppers, curious onlookers, casual strollers, and pushcart peddlers to represent citizens as of equal importance. The purpose was to overlook the overcrowding, crime, and sheer poverty of the slums by creating a more colorful and lively place that represented hope in the future. Yet she is also a type, both easily recognizable and representative to isolate and define the terms of race, ethnicity, and class as he considered the nation s democratic character and identity (Doss, 2002, p. 49). Another prime example they were able to depict this was in The 1907 Eva Green painting, which main purpose was to reject the derogatory depictions of American Americans. Robert Henri managed to

It was satisfying to hear the supervisor give us the total of 15 tons sorted through. It put a number on the amount of help we were doing, and it made the work feel even more rewarding to know how much we accomplished. It also was amazing to hear how, if not for our presence, all of said work would ve fallen on that one supervisor. I cannot fathom how he could manage to do that much work in a decent amount of time, so it only added to that feeling of doing something good. I also enjoyed the teamwork in the work itself because it always feels good to be in sync with other people. It gives a sense of comradery, and in this type of volunteer work it also establishes a base of trust. The team effort helped for the project to move quicker, and it made it much more enjoyable. I would have to say what I liked least about the volunteer project was the labor, in and of itself. • 23. The Process of Human Gene Therapy Human gene therapy is a procedure that is currently being used to help fight diseases with no known cures. Gene testing removes a gene that causes a disease and replaces it with a healthy copy of that gene. By placing a healthy copy of the gene inside the patient s body, that gene can help fight any diseases, such as different forms of cancer, inherited disorders, immune systemdiscords or viral infections (AIDS). Once inside the cell, the genes produce what the patient lacks, it kills the diseased cells and it activates cells in the immune system. Before the procedure begins, blood is drawn from the bone marrow in your hipbone from a needle, and then the blood is brought back to a laboratory where the cells are located. Next, the blood cells are exposed to a vector that contains the wanted genetic material. After this vector has been placed into the cells, those cells are injected back into the patient s veins or tissues. Aside from vectors being used to alter cells, scientists also use different vectors, such as stem cells or liposomes. Since stem cells are cells which create other cells, they are transformed into cells that help fight diseases. Liposomes are particles that carry the new genes to the diseased cells and pass on genes into the DNA of cells. However, there are many barriers that get in the way of this procedure and scientists are still researching different methods to make this procedure 100% successful and effective. Three main barriers of genetherapy are

  • 25. Character Analysis Of Shylock In The Merchant Of Venice In The Merchant of Venice, Shylock is one of Shakespeare s most complicated characters. Throughout the play he seemingly hates everyone save Tubal, a Jewish friend. He even refuses to acknowledge his daughter because she runs away to marry Lorenzo. Nevertheless, Shylock is a fascinating character because initially it is difficult to know whether to embrace him or reject him. To support Shylockis to condone murder, but to reject Shylock is to ignore the plight of someone who seems to be hated possibly because of his religion and race. However, as Shylock s character is gradually revealed through his famous defensive speech, Shakespeare leads us to dislike Shylock and recognize his character as one of pitiful selfishness. Act III begins with Salanio and Salarino discussing the unfortunate wrecks of Antonio s ships, a tragedy that sets the stage for the eventual courtroom encounter between Shylock and Antonio. Shylock s speech is bookended by an argument that he has with Salanio and Salarino. Shylock accuses them of knowing that Jessica, Shylock s daughter, has run away. They parry that they did in fact know, but they are not apologetic for it. Salarino then changes the subject and asks Shylock whether he has any knowledge of Antonio s losses. Salarino asks Shylock what benefit there would be in taking a man s flesh, a question which prompts Shylock to begin his discourse. Shylock begins his speech with a litany of wrongs he has suffered at the hand of Antonio. Shylock

Some effects are actually positive, such as higher rates of photosynthesis in trees due to absorption of more abundant CO2 and warmer temperatures. However, most of the negative effects of climate change outweigh or counteract positive growth. Negative effects of climate changeare affecting the land, water, plants, and animal life on planet Earth. Climate change has provided both gifts and curses for Earth s forests. One of the most prevalent issues associated with climate change affecting forests are forest fires. Both the frequency and range of forest fires has increased in recent decades. This event is essentially what finally made Huck abandon any desire he had left to be part of society and instead to stand on his own morals and not let society dictate what he does. Beauty is an indefinable concept that provides a perceptual experience of satisfaction or pleasure for many people. When people are asked to define beauty many refer to the phrase beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but what is more important; it is to be your own beholder. We as individuals, our communities, our cultures and even different societies have different perceptions and definitions of what is beautiful. In fact, many of us develop a certain perception on what beautiful is simply from what we tend to see around us. There are different advantages and disadvantages of peripheral nerve electrodes: Advantages: Nerve electrical activity can be recorded with the help of same electrodes, Electrical characteristics don t seem to be suffering from changes in muscle length throughout the movement, Reduction of dangerous electrochemical processes. Disadvantages: Chance of damage to nervesdue to implantation of electrode, Implantation also requires sensitive surgical process, which depends upon the availability of the nerves. In this paper, the main aspects of interfaces with the PNS are reviewed. Organization of PNS: Peripheral nerves consists of different types of nerve fibers.Sensory fibers convey numerous sensory inputs which are mainly mechanicaland harmful stimuli. The type of nerve fibers is always different as it depends on the nerve and the anatomical location. Somatic peripheral nerves are sensory and also mixed. The fascicular architecture varies the length of the nerve and it also increases the number of fascicles of smaller size. The normal activities of the body are controlled utilizing the efferent neural signs going from the CNS to the PNS to enroll distinctive muscles. Bandura s theory describes the majority of what I observed when I went to Montgomery Child Care Association. I arrived there at 9:00 AM as the children were starting to enter the building. The classes were separated by names. The one I was in was called The Dinosaur class .
