This is a brief summary of the CNG and LNG fueling industry development. This is a introductory presentation for anyone interested in learning more about the natural gas fueling market.
This is presentation given by PG&E representatives about a large Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) project being developed in Felton, CA. This project is one of the largest ever developed in the industry.

LNG Warring State Period!
With the advantage of direct injection two-stroke MAN MEGI diesel engines and otto cycle duel fuel XDF engines, existing steam turbine-propelled LNG carriers are significantly less competitive and are in danger of survival. Shipowners will continue to make efforts to create new value by converting these steam turbine LNG carriers to FSRU, FLNG and FPU.
* We have a technology called the VIRTUAL PIPELINE TECHNOLOGY (VPT) - captures flared gas, stranded gas, associate gas (dry or wet - explained in the slide) at any given pressure, processes it, transport and supply the gas at the preferred discharge pressure. Our tubes carries a minimum of 550mscf (could carry more if the road is good and can take the weight). It can also pick up gas from existing pipelines and deliver gas to pipeline disconnected areas.
* Modular Power Plant (minimum of 1.5MW) and can be co-generated (power and steam/hot water).
INSIGHT: building a gigantic MW plants that will take 4 - 5 years to achieve also not considering where the source of feedstock is has been a major problem in West Africa.
Meanwhile, TEI can build modular plants (1.5MW each) 6MW plants + VPT within 6 - 9 months and could have 100 different locations (600MW) over a period of time serving numerous locations, and make the return on your investments within a year or 16 - 18 months as the case may be (depending on the distance from feedstock and discharge pressure) yet achieving the same purpose (or even more) in a significant less amount of time as any stand alone 500MW which will just be concluded in the 4th or 5th year talk less of when the breakeven point will be.
Also, if one station goes out, it does not affect the other 99 plants/stations hence providing light/electricity to a wider range. Another better advantage of our VPT and modular plants and why we are better than any product on earth as of today. So robust, you can deploy in the rural areas.
* Modular Gas Storage - For contingent supplies, we can build modular storage facility (such as a farm tanks) with storage capacity of 7.5mmscf/d and could increase in the same module. It is very scalable in that, other than the fact that we can move it from a location to another, we could also convert the modules to a gas transportation/supply cylinders attached to trucks.
* Modular Gas Separator - used to extract by-products of natural gas in small quantities. Methane to power turbines, Propane for cooking, Butane, LNG, etc. are other by-products we can help monitize...

An Overview of CNG and PNG
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG): is natural gas compressed to a pressure of 200-250 Kg/cm² (g) (due to its low density) to enhance the vehicle onboard storage capacity. Thus, the compressed form of natural gas is used as a fuel for transportation purposes.
At present CNG Retail Outlets of GAIL and Its JVCs are available in Delhi, Maharastra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, and Madhya Pradesh States with more than 400 CNG Retail outlets catering to approximately 6,80,000 vehicles.
Indraprastha Gas Ltd, a JV of GAIL (India) Ltd, has 209 CNG Retail outlets and Mahanagar Gas Ltd another JV of GAIL (India) Ltd has set up 148 CNG stations
Similarly, other JVCs like MNGL has 13 Outlets, BGL has 14 outlets , GGL with 10 outlets each, and AGL & CGUL with 9 retail outlets each and TNGCL with one outlet.
GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited has currently 17 CNG outlets at Dewas, Sonepat, Kota, Meerut, Vijaipur, Dibiyapur, Firozabad, Vadodara and Panvel. It will be commissioning its other outlets very soon.
Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is natural gas used as a fuel for households, Industries (with a demand of less than 50000 scmd) and commercial units

Abstract The first single-cylinder gasoline direct compression ignition (GDCI) engine was designed and built in 2010 by Delphi Companyfor testing performance, emissions and Brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC). Then after achieving the good results in performance, emissions and BSFCfrom single-cylinder engine, multi-cylinder GDCI engine was built in 2013. The compression ignition engine has limitations such as high noise, weight, PM and NOX emissions compared to gasoline engine. But the high efficiency, torque and better fuel economy of compression ignition engine are the reasons of Delphi Company to use compression ignition strategy for building a new combustion system. Alternative Fuels and High-Efficiency Vehicles – Update for Fleets

The landscape of alternative fuels and advanced vehicles is rapidly changing, capabilities are improving and it is hard for fleets to keep up. This session will provide a valuable 10-thousand foot overview of the latest products available today, the technology emerging in the near term and what these technologies and fuels can mean to fleet operations. This is a valuable session both for fleets just trying to get up to speed on this arena, and as an update for fleets already active but wanting to stay current.
Clean Energy Compression’s CompleteCNG includes proven CleanCNG technology in a package that combines portability with configurable plug-and-play installation. The self-contained system has a smaller footprint than a standard built-in station and requires minimal on-site construction, making it fast to install and easy to relocate. CEC designers and engineers have responded to the needs of the market to deliver a comprehensive sustainable CNG fueling system with minimal environmental impact.
The thrust of the project is to manufacture and sale conversion kit to convert gen sets powered by IC engines from liquid fuel to gaseous fuels like compressed natural (CNG) or renewable natural (RNG) gas.
The main problem with a gaseous fueled versions of IC engines (both gasoline and Diesel) is the improper compression ratio, since the engines used as prototypes were designed and optimized for the use of liquid fuel.
The conversion kit as an external device should provide the correct stoichiometric air-fuel ratio for the engine without serious re-design of an IC engine-prototype. The air-fuel mixture should be compressed in a compound charging device (supercharger and turbocharger) to a certain pressure in order to compensate volumetric losses in engine cylinders and to provide close to optimal stoichiometric air-fuel ratio.

8. Diesel Fuel Fuel Definition
“Diesel Dual Fuel” (DDF) refers to an engine working with
Diesel and Natural Gas simultaneously.
A small pilot injection of diesel oil ignites the Air + Natural Gas mixture, that is
controlled and injected into the intake manifold.

14. Diesel Fuel Fuel Advantages
Low impact on the architecture of the engine, which remain a standard Diesel cycle
engine: 100% fullback Diesel at any time. No irreversible modification achieved.
Possibility to switch between Diesel/Gas mixture and 100% Diesel mode simply by
pressing an on/off selector.
Automatic set to 100% diesel when the natural gas tank is empty or in case of trouble
detection.
The engine does not decrease performance and efficiency in DDF mode: torque
and power outcomes remain practically unvaried.
Emission levels improved.

Improved engine oil quality determined by high reductions of carbon emission.

16. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
Liquefied natural gas or LNG is natural gas
(predominantly methane, CH4) that has been converted
to liquid form for ease of storage or transport.
Liquefied natural gas takes up about 1/600th the
volume of natural gas in the gaseous state.
It is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
The liquefaction process involves removal of certain
components, such as dust, acid gases, helium, water,
and heavy hydrocarbons, which could cause difficulty
downstream. The natural gas is then condensed into a
liquid at close to atmospheric pressure (maximum
transport pressure set at around 25 kPa (4 psi)) by
cooling it to approximately −162 °C
