Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Possible contingencies
Students have not been exposed to the English language before this year so the teacher will
scaffold students by miming, pointing out to pictures and repeating as many times as needed.
Procedures
5 minutes
I will greet students: “Good morning to everybody! How are you today?” Once students have
answered, I will proceed to sanitize the students’ desks and their hands as stablished in the school
protocol.
5 minutes
I will start by asking students: “Do you remember about Simon’s cat?” I will show to the students some
screenshots of the cartoon we watched last class and I will ask: “Can you tell me where is Simon’s
cat IS in each of these pictures?” Students are supposed to answer with the right preposition: “It’s
next to/in/ on/ under the box”.
Transition comment: Great now we are going to see what the pets of the other family members are.
- 5 minutes
I will show to the students a picture of the classroom and I will ask them: “Can you say where is
Tiago?” Students are supposed to answer: “Yes, he is” and can you tell me “Who is behind Tiago?”
making emphasis on the preposition and miming its meaning. Students are supposed to answer:
“Gere!” I will say then: “Very good!” and I will place myself next to one student and ask them: “Where
am I?” Students are expected to answer: “You are next to…” I will repeat this same exercise until we
have covered all the prepositions learnt.
Con formato: Tachado
Comentado [A1]: Which picture? The photocopy?
Comentado [A2]: Check word order.
CAN YOU SAY WHERE TIAGO IS?
4. Transition comment: Now we know all the pets of the family. Let’s practice!
Activity 1: 10 minutes
To continue with the lesson, I will tell students: “We always play at the end of the lesson but today
we are going to play at the beginning. Here you have a sheet of newspaper, we are going to play
Simon says, do you know the game?” In case they don’t know the rules, I will explain them: “I will
say a sentence and you have to do the action I say but only if I start the sentence with “Simon
says”. So, let’s make a try: Simon says you are under the paper” (students are expected to take the
paper and put it over their heads.
Activity 2: 10 minutes
For this second activity I will ask students to go back to their desks and sit down. I will hand in a
copy in which students will find a scene of an empty classroom. I will ask them to draw what I say in
the scene: “Now that we have worked with prepositions and we know them perfectly we are going to
draw: I will read some sentences for you and you will have to draw the animals where I indicate you.
Pay attention to the preposition but also to what I say about the pets I am mentioning.”
The sentences will be:
1- The thin cat is behind chair 1.
2- The small hamster is next to chair 2.
3- The green and red parrot is on desk 3.
4- The ugly turtle is under desk 1.
5 minutes
To finish with the lesson, we are going to play a game in which they have to choose the right
preposition to complete the sentences: Let’s play again! I will show you my screen so you can watch
the images and decide which preposition is the best to complete the sentences.”
Once the activity ends, I will say goodbye to them: “You have done a great job today, kids! See you
next class!”
