ASSIGNMENT I: ONLINE TEACHING
Collaborative Work
DEADLINE: August 21, 2020
Here are the instructions:
This assignment is about designing activities to be shared with students in this peculiar
context. You should include all resources you are planning to use (visual aids, audiovisual
materials, etc), just as you´ve seen in the examples above.
You should create two sets of activities (week 3 and week 4), so as to finish this
Didactic Unit on Describing People. As well as this, you are asked to outline a synchronous
lesson of about 40 minutes, describing the different stages of such a meeting. This would be
closer to our regular lesson plans…
As regards CONTENT, you are expected to keep on working on PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION. So far, they´ve worked with hairstyles. Students must learn adjectives, such
as strong / tall / short / fat / slim. Make sure you teach appropriate grammar structures, too.
Last but not least, try to achieve skill integration and do foster communication.
The task should be carried out in pairs, so as to exchange different experiences and
points of view.
Hands on!!

Procedures
ROUTINE (3 minutes)
I will say hello to all the children and ask them how they have been as everybody is online.
WARM- UP (5 minutes)
I will share with my students my screen with a photograph of a monster and a girl. I will ask
them if they know them.
“Look at this picture. Do you know them? Who are they? What’s his/her name?”
Once they have answered I will ask them what these two characters look like.
“Now look carefully: Are they tall? Is the girl fat?” (etc)
I will encourage them to raise their hands to answer.
PRESENTATION (5 minutes)
Now, I will tell the children that we are going to try to remember some words we have been
working on.
“I will show you some pictures and you will answer.”
Again, here, I will share my screen to them
Is he short?
Is he slim?
Is he weak?
“Well done! You remember many words”
DEVELOPMENT (PRACTICE and PRODUCTION) (15 minutes)
I will tell students:
“Remember that you have played with a spin wheeler? Well, now we are going to play a
bingo with the monsters that you drew!”
I will share my screen, where I will have the spinner open.
I will explain the following activity: a Bingo! game.
Can I see your monsters? Show me your monsters, please! We will play Bingo! with them.
Now, I will click on the spinner and get a characteristic. For example (I will click the spinner
and get one word, e.g. ‘red’) Now… look at your monsters… is it red? Who has a red
monster? Great! Then, if you have that characteristic, write an ‘X’ next to the monster. Only if
you have ‘red’. Is it ok?”
I will repeat the example with another word and check for understanding.
“When you have 3 ‘X’, you will say Bingo!”
I will repeat this activity two or three times (depending on how long it takes them to call
“Bingo!”)
CLOSURE (12 minutes)
I will introduce the last activity:
“Well, we have been working with monsters so I want to share with you my favourite poem
about monsters:
Listen carefully and let your imagination fly!”
I will share the poem on the screen while I read
The monster
I think I can see a monster
Under my bed.
His tongue is yellow,
And his eyes are red.
I think I can see a monster
Under my chair,
His face is purple
And he has pink hair
I think I can see a monster
Under my bed
His legs are orange
And his feet are white.
I think I can see a monster
And that he can see me
but I don`t tell my mother,
She´ll be scared, you see…
“ Did you like it? Can you draw a nice picture of this monster? I think you can!!! Send me
your picture of this monster!”
Finally, I will say goodbye
“OK, kids… that was fun!! but we have to go… Let’s meet again soon! Don’t forget to send
me the pictures! Until the next class! Bye Bye!!!!”
