Possible contingencies
Students have not been exposed to the English language before this year so the teacher will
scaffold students by miming, pointing out to pictures and repeating as many times as needed.
Procedures
5 minutes
I will greet students: “Good morning to everybody! How are you today?” Once students have
answered, I will proceed to sanitize the students’ desks and their hands as stablished in the school
protocol.
10 minutes
I will show to the students a poster in which they will see the images of the family with which we have
been working with and their pets: “Remember that yesterday we learnt about the pets of Diego’s
family? Let’s see if you remember… Diego’s pet is a… dog!. Ok!” I will encourage students to name
all the animals in the pictures.
Transition comment: Well done ! Now let’s continue learning…
10 minutes
To continue with the lesson I will show to the students flashcards with two cats, for example, a fat one
and a thin one and I will say: Alondra’s cat is fat. It isn’t thin (pointing to the thin cat”. Then I will point
to Diego and show two dogs, an old one and a young one and I will say: “Angel’s turtle is old. It isn’t
young”. I will encourage students to repeat the adjective. I will continue with the other animals: “
Juan’s fish is beautiful. It isn’t ugly”, “Valentina’s hamster is small. It isn’t big”,
Transition comment: Great! Let’s practice these adjectives.
Activity 1: 15 minutes
“Ready to read?” I will hand in a photocopy in which they will find some descriptions of the pets that
haven’t been mentioned: “We have already learnt about Alondra, Angel, Juan and Valentina’s pets
but what about the others? Read the following paragraphs and decide who says each one and then
with the correspondent pet:”

Activity 2: 15 minutes
“Now you will read again the paragraphs and complete this table” And I will copy the table on the
board:

Activity 3: 20 minutes
Once students have finished working with the table, we are going to continue with a production
exercise: “Now that we have already practice, we can speak about these pets, you have to look at
the images and answer the questions, if the answer is negative, provide a right answer”:
My pet is a dog. It is brown and
white. It isn’t small, it is a big dog.
It is 10 years old, so it is old. I love
my dog!
We love our pet! It is a white and
black rabbit. It is only one year old. It
is a very big rabbit!
My parrot is great! It is green and red. It
is very beautiful. It isn’t young, it is
twenty years old.

d. Is the cat beautiful?
e. Is the hamster fat?
10 minutes
To finish with the lesson, we will play with a spin wheel. I will nominate students and he/ she will have
to make a sentence using the prompts given:
Once they finish playing, I will say goodbye to them: “You have done a great job today, kids! See you
next class!”

Language Focus LEXIS FUNCTIONS STRUCTURE R E V Family members Possessive adjectives: her, his, their. Pets: cat- dog- rabbit- parrot- fish- hamster- turtle. Introduce family members Ask and answer about family members. This is Camilo’s pet. It is a dog. What is your pet? What is Diego’s pet?   • 5. ✓ Board and marker ✓ Spin wheel: https://wheelofnames.com/es/fnd-7mp Possible contingencies Students have not been exposed to the English language before this year so the teacher will scaffold students by miming, pointing out to pictures and repeating as many times as needed. Procedures 5 minutes I will greet students: “Good morning to everybody! How are you today?” Once students have answered, I will proceed to sanitize the students’ desks and their hands as stablished in the school protocol. 10 minutes I will show to the students a poster in which they will see the images of the family with which we have been working with and their pets: “Remember that yesterday we learnt about the pets of Diego’s family? Let’s see if you remember… Diego’s pet is a… dog!. Ok!” I will encourage students to name all the animals in the pictures. Transition comment: Well done ! Now let’s continue learning… 10 minutes To continue with the lesson I will show to the students flashcards with two cats, for example, a fat one and a thin one and I will say: Alondra’s cat is fat. It isn’t thin (pointing to the thin cat”. Then I will point to Diego and show two dogs, an old one and a young one and I will say: “Angel’s turtle is old. It isn’t young”. I will encourage students to repeat the adjective. I will continue with the other animals: “ Juan’s fish is beautiful. It isn’t ugly”, “Valentina’s hamster is small. It isn’t big”, Transition comment: Great! Let’s practice these adjectives.

Activity 1: 15 minutes “Ready to read?” I will hand in a photocopy in which they will find some descriptions of the pets that haven’t been mentioned: “We have already learnt about Alondra, Angel, Juan and Valentina’s pets but what about the others? Read the following paragraphs and decide who says each one and then with the correspondent pet:” Read and match Transition comment: Excellent! Activity 2: 15 minutes “Now you will read again the paragraphs and complete this table” And I will copy the table on the board: Pet Age Colour It is… Owner Dog White and … Dylan Activity 3: 20 minutes Once students have finished working with the table, we are going to continue with a production exercise: “Now that we have already practice, we can speak about these pets, you have to look at the images and answer the questions, if the answer is negative, provide a right answer”: My pet is a dog. It is brown and white. It isn’t small, it is a big dog. It is 10 years old, so it is old. I love my dog! We love our pet! It is a white and black rabbit. It is only one year old. It is a very big rabbit! My parrot is great! It is green and red. It is very beautiful. It isn’t young, it is twenty years old.
