The Types Of Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Types of Essay" presents its own set of challenges,
requiring a delicate balance of information, analysis, and clarity. The difficulty lies not only in
elucidating the various types of essays but also in presenting a cohesive narrative that engages
the reader.
Firstly, delving into the nuances of each essay type demands a comprehensive understanding of
their distinct characteristics. The writer must navigate through the intricate differences between
argumentative, expository, narrative, and other forms of essays, carefully avoiding confusion
while ensuring that each type is adequately explored.
Furthermore, maintaining a coherent structure is pivotal. Balancing between providing sufficient
depth for each essay type and avoiding excessive verbosity poses a constant challenge. The
writer must tread the fine line between conciseness and elaboration, ensuring that the reader
grasps the essence without feeling overwhelmed.
Another challenge lies in offering meaningful insights and analyses. Mere enumeration of essay
types is insufficient; the essay should delve into the purposes, structures, and conventions unique
to each type. This requires a nuanced exploration that demonstrates a thorough grasp of the
subject matter.
Moreover, achieving a smooth transition between different essay types is essential for the essay's
overall flow. Seamlessly connecting ideas while avoiding abrupt shifts is crucial to maintain
reader engagement and comprehension.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on "The Types of Essay" demands a meticulous approach,
balancing the need for detailed exploration with the requirement for clarity and coherence. It
necessitates a keen understanding of the nuances of each essay type and the ability to convey
this information in a manner that is both informative and engaging.

Coral Bleaching The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is Australia s natural gifts. The Great Barrier Reef is the
world s largest coral reef. The Reef is located off the coast of Queensland. It is the
largest living thing on Earth and even visible from outer space. The area is 348,000
kmВІ and considered a one of the world s heritage sites. Thousands of reefs and
hundreds of islands made of over 600 types of hard and soft coral. It s home to
countless species of colourful fish, molluscs and marine animals (starfish, dolphins,
turtles etc.). The Great Barrier Reef is a large tourist attraction of Australia and is
important to some cultures such as aboriginals. It reaches from Torres Strait to the
north of Lady Elliot Island. The Australian and Queensland governments are... Show

As global warming continues, corals will not be able to keep up with increasing
ocean temperatures. Coral bleaching has led to increase of un healthy reefs. The
raising of sea temperatures slows down coral growth and loss of coral. Coral
bleaching is expected to occur more often and worse in the future, making it
difficult for corals to recover. Some coral types, such as staghorn corals, are really
sensitive to bleaching, and these will be the most affected. Corals that deal with
the sea temperatures better will dominate the Great Barrier Reef. Some reefs rely
on the animals to help control coral bleaching; climate change has effect some
marine animals such as some of the fish of the Great Barrier Reef. The preferred
temperature range leads them to find a new habitat. Climate change will also affect
the population and sea turtle s e habitat. Storms and creatures that eat through
limestone which wear down reefs. The Great Barrier Reef has adapted to cope with
the impacts of cyclones and severe storms. However, many scientists predict that
intense cyclones (such as cyclone Hamish and cyclone Yasi) will occur more often
due to climate change. Reef recovery from severe storms is slow, because fewer
corals survive to help affected
The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis
This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is
Peter Paul Rubins. This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp,
Belgium. The socio cultural situation during at that time and place was tense with
the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that resumed in 1619. This war was
being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries (comprised of some
of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions
with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that
began in 1618. This piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to
paint the oil onto the canvas.
The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux
and Castor who kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two
recognizable images are Castor, who is dressed in garb common for a horse tamer,
while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear that the two daughters are
being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The exact
location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of
some sort where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Although the time in
which it is happening is not evident either, based ... Show more content on

What happens to the daughters of Leucippus in this scene is incredibly tragic and
yet the artwork also predicts the tragedy that will befall the brothers. I think the
other qualities could be described as dramatic such as the awkward and flailing
positions of the women that is meant to bring attention to the piece. This work really
reminds me of other traditional art pieces I have seen with the style of the painting
and the usage of darks and lights to highlight figures. I think it is very similar to
other paintings I have seen about mythical figures but this one seems to emphasize on
the roles of
The New England Convicts
Convicts were first bought to Australia in the year 1788 with the first fleet which
was led by Captain Arthur Phillips. In the first fleet, there were 11 ships with a total
of 717 convicts aboard. The ships were called, Alexander, Borrowdale, Charlotte,
Fishburn, Friendship, Golden Grove, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales,
Scarborough, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply. Out of these 11 ships, 6 of them were
used to transport convicts. These 6 ships were, Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship,
Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the last one was Scarborough. The other 5 were
used to transport supplies. This voyage from England to Australia took over 252
days which would be 8 months and 1 week. The first fleetset sail on the 13th of May
in the year 1787 from England... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That was until 1783 when the American War of Independence ended. When America
refused to take in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners
somewhere else. Due to prisons overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put
all these convict. Their solution, was to put them in old, rotting prison ship known as
hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that could not go out into sea and fight
but they were still able to safely float on the water in the harbour. Once all the hulks
were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia because they
thought that no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many
years. One other reason that they moved these criminals here was because their old
system was very cruel and it really disturbed the public. Their system was to chop the
head off of the criminal. Due to the finding of Australia, it gave the English a new
opportunity, for both the expansion of the empire and a place to keep the convicts.
The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment, reduced the population stress
in the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the newly identified
territories. This idea of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death
sentence. The death sentence was not fully removed, as it still existed for the people
who committed major crimes. There was amnesty of the death sentence for the
people that committed minor crimes.
What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia?
The work a convict did, was dependent on who they worked for, what skills they had
and where they worked. Now we are going to look at how a convict s day went by.

Feminist Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
Introduction
Feminist economists, sociologists and many other scholars from different social
disciplines have been analyzing the tangled relations between factors of production
and their connection to reproduction. (ToДџrul MemiЕџ 2011, 4) Reproductive work,
increasingly referred as social reproduction, helps to create supporting and servicing
facilities for current and future work force and mostly known care giving and
domestic duties but it has a broader scope than the biological reproduction.
Reproductive work includes baring and caring children, taking them to school,
preparing food, dishing, cleaning and so on. For instance, when child gets sick,
someone has to sit and hold hands of him/her at nights. They are all reproducing

I as a double major student in Sociology and Economics took an Economics of Gender
course from department of economics last fall semester and this feminist approach on
economics attracted my attention. The lectures of Ећemsa Г–zar and particular
articles from Gary Becker, Hande ToДџrul and Emel MemiЕџ heavily influenced my
standpoint and shaped my framework of research. Also Selma James collected work

Its Continued Leap, MemiЕџ and ToДџrul argue that basic needs such as food,
shelter, clothing, health care, and education are satisfied not only through production
in the paid formal markets, but also through reproduction and production in unpaid
forms within the home, communities and society at large. According to feminist
scholars, the economy is stratified by gender. Thus, gender should be an analytical
category in economic analysis. Another critique is that the distribution studies focus
narrowly on household income distribution. They question mainstream and heterodox
economics for their silence about persistent
Marco Polo s Paradise In Heaven, Suzhou On Earth
When the Venetian merchant Marco Polo traveled to the orient, he saw many
wondrous things. Two cities that inspired him a lot were Suzhou and Beijing. In
Suzhou he saw people who could conquer the world and in Beijing he saw a city that
had a standing truly unparalleled among the cities of the World. These descriptions
showed the immense greatness that both cities bestowed on guests from abroad and
it is something that hasn t changed over the years.
Over the years the Chinese gave Suzhou s grandeur this description: Paradise in
Heaven, Suzhou and Hangzhou on Earth. For Suzhou the splendor started in the
year 514 BC when King Helu of the Wu state decided to build a capital city near
Lake Taihu. He tasked the project to his minister, Wu Zixu, who designed the city to
ensure environmental harmony. The effects of this can still be seen today as modern
day Suzhou is equal parts water and land.
Over the years this city has grown to become one of the most storied cities in all of
China. Firstly, Suzhou and its inhabitants have had a great impact of war. As the
capital of the Wu state numerous assaults were taken to cement the power of the
state. Originally the name of the city was Wu to honor the ruling power. This strong
power was shown when King Helu managed to defeat the neighboring state of Chu

Even before there was an established city, Peking man, a predecessor to modern
humans, inhabited the caves around Beijing. Legends have Beijing starting 4000
years ago with the mythical Yellow Emperor defeating the Flame Emperor to unite
the two rival tribes. This triumph marked the need to build a capital which is how
Beijing came to be. However, the real story of Beijing starts in the Warring States
Period (475 221BC) when Marquis of Yan established a capital for his state called Ji.
It was this city that served many of China s major dynasties as a
The Principle of Persuasion Essay
According to the text , Social Psychology, social psychology is the scientific study
of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another (pg. 4) this is
viewed in a variety of social topics incorporating group behaviors, attitudes,
conformity, obedience to authority, stereotypes and peer pressure. Outside factors
can have a positive or negative affect our view of ourselves and each other. These
outside factors are used to persuade and influence group behavior. Persuasionis
defined as the process by which a message induces change in beliefs, attitudes, or
behaviors (Myers, 2010, pg. 230). The principles of this process of persuasion
according to researchers, Robert Cialdini and Thomas Davidson, are attractiveness

A perfect example of this social proof phenomenon is the laughing tracks added to
sit coms. Since there is laughter in the background we assume it must be funny so
we laugh. Everyone else is laughing so must we. Consistency is defined as the
conformity in the application of something which is necessary for the sake of
logic, accuracy, or fairness. Accoring to Persuasion is a Science, by Peter Wilby,
people that appear to be an expert and trustworthy are more likely to be followed.
Cialdini is quoted in this article as saying, People then listen differently to the next
thing you say. They open their ears and minds. So, when recommending someone
for a job, mention a weak spot before you rhapsodise about their brilliance (Wilby,
2007, para. 5). Authority is closely related to credibility. If someone has authority,
people tend to be willing to be persuaded by them because they believe in them and
they recognize them as an authoritative figure. Doctors are percieved to have
authority on medical issues therfore we, as their patients, are inclined to listen (or
be persuaded by) their advice as to our health problems. Scarcity is another
principle of persuasion. Often times we are pulled into deals in the retail industry
because it s a one time offer . The act of limiting access to a message causes
individuals to want to receive it more and to become more favorable to it according
to Davidson (para. 42). The biggest
Interprofessional Communication in Healthcare
Reflection on the Handover Video Vignette The issue of inter professional
communication is a critical aspect of contemporary healthcare to enhance team
communication and collaboration; its unique principle is the ability of building
mutual trust, understanding and support in healthcare environment (Portsmouth,
Coyle amp; Trede, 2012). More importantly, it ensures patient s intensive care and
outcomes effectively. In this reflective essay, by approaching the 5Rs framework for
reflection, I will be evaluating and analysing my personal characteristics, namely

Also, there are hardly communication barriers between them. Accordingly, this could
be explained that they had a completely handover performance as a result of effective
inter professional communication and collaboration in order to optimise patient s
outcome. Initially, I questioned myself whether I might have reflective practice skills
like two clinicians when conducting a clinical process appropriately in the inter
professional communication environment. Although I could possess these
characteristics as my personality trait, I realize that there is a gap of cognitive
knowledge to meet effective communication strategies in professional practice.
Apparently, as a first year nursing student, I have not sufficiently developed my
ability to perform assertive and active listening skills like them. As the pregnancy
related stroke case is to threaten the safety for Sally and her baby, there should have
proper characteristics of teamwork communication to cooperate adequately. However,
I could not manage my voice and body posture calmly, relaxed if I encounter this
situation; moreover, I might have some limitation of conveying handoff
professionally and confidently like James. Then, although I am used to be good at
active listening skill, I may interrupt James to clarify patient s information sometimes;
even I could not
The Cause And Effects Of The Drug War In Mexico
More than 60,000 people have been killed in the ongoing drug war in Mexico. The
fact that this violence has yet to reach its acme is quiet frightening. The freight
instilled in the tourist that once found the many hotspots located in Mexico such
as Acapulco and Cancun are now terrified to set foot in the land. Due to the fact
that there is no safe or secure area where tourist can venture out for a good time.
Due to violence Mexico has been affected with a lack of tourist, revenue and its
acclaimed bad reputation. Before the drug war scene escalated in 2006 Mexico was
one of the top travel destinations for people all around the world. From its beautiful
beaches in Acapulco and Cancun to its ridiculously low priced fairs, food, lodging

Mexico could be at the risk of dropping out of the top ten tourist destinations in the
world. Total tourist visitation has decreased by 15% from 2010 to 2012 this is a
huge decrease and is now affecting Mexico s total revenue. Revenue is the total
amount of income that is brought by a company, city or country. While the drug
cartels average out about 22 billion dollars annually since the drug war began
Mexico has lost an abundance of cash flow and customers due to the drug war.
Despite the terror everyone around the country talks about they still venture into
Mexico providing them with an astonishing 13.8 billion dollars from 2006 to 2008.
It is clear to see that the total amount of money going both ways is staggering, but
more money is flowing into the drug cartels hands. This money is being used to
purchase drugs and weapons. CNN reporter states that that over 70% of the weapons
that have been removed from cartels or found at crime scenes are traced back to the
United States of America. With the cartels in possession of so much of the revenue

Why Did England Become Such A Powerful Empire
The English Navy was the main force England used when fighting against their
enemies in the early and late colonial era. They were a strong force with their ships,
soldiers, and tactics. But how did England become so strong in their navy? What
helped England become such a powerful empire? England started to become this
force during the Elizabethan Era when the English ships were built and used
differently. Moreover, their tactics on how they fought against their enemies changed,
and who fought and sailed for the English rulers was greatly improved. There are
many ways to explain how Englandbecame such a powerful naval empire. It all
started with the English war against the Spanish Armadain the late 1580s. The
English saw that there was no way to win against the Spanish without a great naval
force, so they changed everything they could to improve their chances to win against
the catholic Spanish. The battle against the Spanish started a great new era on how
the English used their ships and started the change on the type of ships used during
this time. The English navy started back in Anglo Saxon England around late 800 s.
Over the many years the English improved their navy, like any other empire. In 1340

cartoons. After Disney s big hit Alice Comedies and cartoons of Mickey and the
gang, he moved his office to Burbank, California. There, Walt and his brother, Roy,
came up with their most famous movies such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Alice

parks, multiple cruise lines, multiple resorts, over five hundred films, and over

effect of the Disney princess phenomenon and how it shapes a young girls
perspective of herself and how she s supposed to be.
Growing up, all I ever did was watch Disney movies and the Disney channel. Now as
I m older, I can t help but realize that all the movies are exactly the same. The

similar character traits. England, Descartes, and Collier Meek in Gender Role

characteristics exhibited by the prince and princess characters through

Number Systems Complex NumbersThe earliest reference to complex numbers is
from Hero of Alexandria s work Stereometrica in the 1st century AD, where he
contemplates the volume of a frustum of a pyramid.
The proper study first came about in the 16th century when algebraic answers for
roots of cubics and quartics were revealed by Italian mathematicians Tartaglia and
Cardano. For example, Tartaglia s formula for a cubic equation x^3=x gives the

For example, the treatment of resistors, capacitors, and inductors are unified by
combining them in a single complex number called the impedance, which is the
measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to a current when a certain voltage is

AlgebraThe Quadratic FormulaEarly methods for solving quadratic equations were
purely geometric.
Babylonian tablets contained problems which could be reduced to solving quadratic
equations. The Egyptian Berlin Papyrus (2050 1650 BC) contains the solution to a
two term quadratic equation.
Euclid (300 BC) used geometric methods to solve quadratic equations in his book
Elements.
In Arithmetica, Diophantus (250 BC) solved quadratic equations with methods which
more closely resembled algebra. However, his solution only gave one root, even
when both roots are positive.
Brahmagupta (597 668 AD) explicitly described the quadratic formula in words
instead of symbols in Brahmasphutasiddhanta in 628 AD. His solution of ax^2+bx=c
equated to the formula: x=(в€
љ(4ac+b^2 ) b)/2a
In the 9th century, Persian mathematician al Khwarizmi solved quadratic equations
algebraically.
The quadratic formula which covered all cases was first described by Simon Stevin
in 1594.
The quadratic formula that we know today was published by Rene Descartes in La
Geometrie in 1637.
The first appearance of the general solution in modern mathematical literature was in

The Causes And Consequences Of The First Crusades
Going against modern day religious beliefs, in 1095AD the Christians went to war
to claim the holy city of Jerusalem, massacring the Muslims in a bloody attempt to
worship their God. Pope Urban II s speech at Clermont inspired by claims made by
the Byzantium Emperor encouraged the Christians to partake in the First Crusade
in an attempt to liberate Jerusalem. The religious and economic factors were the
most relevant to cause this crusade, with some influence from desired political gain
and little from social factors unrelated to religion. The immediate consequences
were positive for the Christians and negative for the Muslims, but the First Crusade
launched an ongoing conflict between the Christians and Muslims which had
positive and negative consequences for both sides. There are a number of relevant
modern sources which examine the causes and consequences of the First Crusade,
but, while there are many medieval sources, they do not explicitly discuss the
causes and consequences of the war. In order to fully comprehend the First
Crusade, it is necessary to analyse the religious, economic, and political factors, as
well as the short term, long term, and modern consequences. The modern book
source which proves the most useful in discussing the causes and consequences of
the First Crusade is Crusades: The Illustrated History, by Thomas Madden. Madden
is an extremely reliable source, as he is considered to be an authority on the
Crusades, with a BA, MA, and PhD in history.
Erikson Research Paper
Writing Assignment two: Theories Paper The psychologist Eric Erikson (1902 1904),
was Freud s student and one of the brightest and he became known for the human
development theories. Erikson created eight human s development stages. Those
stages are: trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt,
industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. role confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity
vs. stagnation, and integrity vs. despair. These development theories are part of
everyone s life from the time they are born to the end of life. As noticed on the
theories, they have two oppositions which, usually, individuals debate within
themselves between those theories. Also, the first five stages of the eight stages of
development... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the stage that Erikson stresses that adolescents negotiating the complexities
of finding one s own identity is the primary task in adolescence. At this stage,
children become adolescents who try to figure out their personality and how they
will fit to society. This is the stage after childhood and the body is changing within
hormones. According to Berger (2014), psychosocial development during
adolescence is often considered the search for self understanding. Their personality
changes back and forth as they try to differ from others and if they do not establish
a final identity, they become confused about themselves. Intimacy versus isolation is
the sixth stage of psychosocial development. This is the time when people look for
formal relationships and tend to debate whether they will be loved or will be lonely.
Dunkel and Sefcek (2009) stress that this stage represents the ability to share with and
commit to another, most often in the form of romantic relationships. The
psychosocial strength that can be gained in the sixth stage is love. In this case, if
love is not gained, the individual might become isolated and depressed. Erikson
(1963) states the

He makes sure that it is interesting and fun for the young generation to read his
essay, he is doing this by the personal stories and fun comparisons, but also by
using words and phenomena the young readers can relate to, for an example he
uses words as liking and friending , Liking, in general, is commercial culture s
substitute for loving (p.9, l. 83 85) phenomena s from facebook. On the other hand
Jonathan Franzen also uses some foreign words as carbon foodprint , anesthetized
dream by using these foreign words he makes sure to seem smart , so we get the
feeling of a person who knows what he is talking about, and on the other hand also a
fun and interesting person. This is again something that strengthens his ethos appeal,
so it is easier for him to convince and engage the young readers. If he was writing in a
way with no humor, only foreign words, and maybe used a lot of statistics facts,
instead of personal stories, he would not engage the young readers. So by writing in
this very specific way, he knows that the youngster will find his essay fun and

convince and engage the young readers.
Jonathan Franzen s main message is that, the young generation should spend more
time in the real world instead of the world of liking . He wants the young readers to

Tiffany Case
Question 1a:
Tiffany should go public since an IPO would be able to bring in fresh equity to fund
growth, and to establish a relatively liquid and efficient market for the company s
shares.
Tiffany has a strong brand and would be able to attract investors during the IPO
process. Tiffany option of IPO was favorable since it had positive operating results for

Since the terms of renegotiating the terms of the GECC revolving credit were not

Boston Massacre Essay
The Boston Massacre is considered by many historians to be the first battle of the
Revolutionary War. The fatal incident happened on March 5 of 1770. The massacre
resulted in the death of five colonists. British troops in the Massachusetts Bay Colony
were there to stop demonstrations against the Townshend Acts and keep order, but
instead they provoked outrage. The British soldiersand citizens brawled in streets and
fought in bars. amp;#8220;The citizens viewed the British soldiers as potential

The Effect Of Pyramids On Ancient Egyptian Life
Introduction
Pyramids, which were built over 4000 years ago, are impressive structures built by
ancient Egyptians. Building pyramids had to do with religion. Also, building them
had an effect on ancient Egyptians lives. We can learn many things about ancient
Egyptians from their pyramids. Pyramids, the result of Ancient Egyptians hard work,
were built as tombs for their rulers, and can help us learn about this ancient
civilization.
What Was the Purpose of a Pyramid? Pyramids served as tombs for the ancient
Egyptian pharaohs and queens. According to Ducksters.com, The pyramids were
built as burial places and monuments to the pharaohs. Within the pyramid were the
tombs, holding the pharaoh. Technology Student.com states, The Egyptian pyramids

First of all, Egyptians were hard workers and they were devoted to their pharaohs.
According to Naomi Millburn, The construction of pyramids in ancient Egypt
affected many people s lives in their exhaustive construction. Ancient Egyptians
worked hard for their pharaohs. We can learn that they were devoted to their
pharaohs, and hard workers by looking at the pyramids. Pyramids also tell us that the
ancient Egyptians were skilled in architecture. According to History.com, Built during
a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the
world, the pyramids, especially the Great pyramids of Giza are some of the most
magnificent man made structures in history. Their massive scale reflects the unique
role that the pharaoh, or king, played in ancient Egyptian society. Pyramids are
admired by people around the world. Also, it is still a mystery how they
constructed pyramids. (Naomi Millburn) Egyptians were dedicated to their religion,
and as stated before, pyramids were built as tombs for pharaohs/queens. According
to Ducksters.com, Deep inside the pyramid the pharaoh would be buried with all
sorts of items and treasure that he may need to survive in the afterlife. Afterlife was
a part of ancient Egyptian religion. Therefore Egyptians would work hard to build
pyramids and tombs for their pharaohs.
Conclusion
There was a big effect on ancient Egyptians from pyramids because it was exhausting
building them. However, pyramids help us learn that ancient Egyptians were hard
workers, devoted to their pharaohs, they were skilled in architecture, and ancient
Egyptians were dedicated to their religion. Ancient Egypt s pyramids have left a

The Great Debaters

by Denzel Washington and produced by Oprah Winfrey and her production

events, the plot follows Denzel Washingtons character and his efforts at Wiley College
to have his team able to debate with white schools in the South in the 1930s. This
time period being when Jim Crow laws were common and lynch mobs were a very

For instance, Belle is the only character in the town to wear blue. Almost every
other character wore red. This leads the viewer to believe that Belle is the only
good person in a group of mean and often misogynistic people. Another aspect of
the film is the use of seasons. The film goes through Fall, Winter, and ends in
Spring. The depicted seasons put the viewer in different moods, and let them
know what is going on. For example, Spring is often associated with rebirth, so it is
with Beauty and the Beast. The Beast nearly dies until Belle tells him she loves
him, and he is turned back into a prince as the curse is broken. This scene, paired
with the change from Winter to Spring, shows that the Beast is a changed man,
and no longer a beast. Clothes played another important role in the film, as they
showed the general temperament and disposition of a character. Belle, in the
beginning of the film, wore a very plain, blue dress. This showed that she didn t get
much enjoyment from having nice things and was happy enough with just her
collection of books. The Beast s clothes showed much more about his character.
When he is first shown, the Beast wears an old pair of frayed pants, and a cloak to
keep warm. Later, when he learns to control his temper and act more like a human
being, we see him in a cloak and a white shirt, then a smart jacket and trousers.
When he has finally won Belle s love, he has a
The Allegory of the Cave by Plato
The Allegory of the Cave by Plato represents the differences in the way we
perceive reality and what we believe is real. In his story, Plato starts by saying that
in a cave, there are prisoners chained down and are forced to look at a wall. The
prisoners are unable to turn their heads to see what is going on behind them and are
completely bound to the floor. Behind the prisoners, puppeteers hide and cast
shadows on the wall in line with the prisoners sight, thus giving the prisoners their
only sense of reality. What happens in the passage is not told from the prisoners
point of view but is actually a conversation held between Socrates and Glaucon (Plato
s brother). As Socrates is describing the cave and the situation, he stresses the point
that the prisoners are completely oblivious as to what is reality as they would
know nothing but the shadows casted by items held by the puppeteers, and believe
this to be their own reality. This is important to the story as it shows that what we
believe is real from the moment we are born is completely wrong based on our
own flawed interpretations of reality. The point so far is that it is not what we can
see but what we can t see is what grasps our minds and Plato describes this thinking
as imagination. Once one of the prisoners is released, he is forced to look at the fire
and the objects that once made up his perceived reality, and realizes that the new
images he is made to acknowledge are now the accepted forms of reality.
Medical Marijuana Case Study
Very few drugs have been subjected to the level of scrutiny that medical marijuana
has been held at for the last few decades. In the paper by Surender Kashyap and
Kartikeya Kashyap (2014), a quotation by E.A. Carlini, a Brazilian
psychopharmacologist rings deftly true:
Very few drugs, if at all, have such a tangled history as a medicine. In fact, prejudice,
superstition, emotionalism, and even ideology have managed to lead cannabis to ups
and downs concerning both its therapeutic properties and its toxicological and
dependence inducing effects. (p.1) Despite there being a possibility that legalizing
medical marijuana for patients would bring about benefits for society there is also
the possibility of the exact opposite happening. With every ... Show more content on

For instance, in Oregon there are thirty five thousand individuals who hold
medicinal marijuana cards. Out of those thirty five thousands only ten percent
suffered from cancer, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, or the other specific
debilitating conditions cited in the legislation. (Caplan, 2012, p.10 11). The other
ninety percent reported chronic and debilitating pain as the condition they
suffered from. These percentages follow the trend of states that have already
legalized medical marijuana in that the majority of medical marijuana card holders
cite chronic pain as a sort of catch all disease. While some may suffer from such
pain, a large number of individuals merely use it as an excuse to obtain a license for
medical marijuana. However, the statistical dominance of chronic or severe pain, as
well as abundant anecdotal evidence, suggests that applicants offer, and physicians
accept, chronic pain as a qualifying condition when in fact it is not. (Caplan, 2012,
p.11). Going along with this trend there is also the issue of doctors handing out
medical marijuana licenses with little regard to the ethical concerns involved. Instead
of allowing medical marijuana to be treated as an
Summary Of Sorrow Of War By Bao Ninh
War is an entity such that its destructive nature can wear away at even the strongest
of people. Through Sorrow of War Bao Ninh attempts to describe the effects of war to
convey his message of the destructive and warping nature that not only soldiers but
anyone involved or affected by the war. Ninh created broken characters with an
erratic structure to reflect the North Vietnamese progressive mental deterioration.
Using the VietnamWar(1962 1975) and the novel s protagonist Kien as well other
characters such as the main heroine Phuong, Ninh focuses reader s attention the
physically intangible causalities war. He begins with the creation of a sense endless
separation from other through characterization. Also he describes the everlasting
damage done beyond where the eyes can see. Finally, Ninh discusses how the
discontinuity of structure causes readers to familiarise the novel with memories.
Sorrow is a product a traumatic moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This structure is illustrated by showing readers glimpses the present time and
promptly switching back to Kien s time in the war, in the form of flash backs and
memories. Although the structure may seem scattered and random, it has order in
that many of the alterations into different timelines are connected by a single idea.
This simulates how one would remember things in a train of thought. The structure
also suggests the order of how one suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
would interpret trying to deal with memory and emotion. Ninh has made this a
critical piece of the narrative process, allowing the audience to comprehend and
understand the flow. It was many years later that Kien, in the Mia team, returned to
Crocodile Lake. Hoa s image came to him the moment he arrived and he set off to
find the old trail to the river bank and he had apologised for wanting to shoot her.
The Hallucinatory Effects Of Wormwood And Absinthe
Dr. Valentin Magnan who worked at the Saint Anne asylum, conducted research on
the effects of wormwood and absinthe; to prove the hallucinatory effects on
humans, Dr. Magnan exposed animals to a single large dose of wormwood oil
each. Dogs that were experimented on would bark at a wall possibly believing
that there were foes in front of them. Today we know this to be faulty research
since it is akin to testing the effects of drinking coffee by feeding animals massive
doses of pure caffeine. (Difford) What buried the hatchet in absinthe was a tragedy.
A Swiss man named Jean Lanfray had been out drinking absinthe and was
intoxicated when he arrived back at home, got into a fight with his wife and in a

Plant Hormone Research Paper
Materials and Methods This study was completed at Iowa State University. Six
large, agar petri plates were chosen for the study. All six plates were in the same
location, had the same agar, sunlight access, and elevation. All six plates were
arranged for the experiment in the same method; the plates were prepared under an
uncontaminated hood, 10 seeds of each plantwere placed gently on the agar on
separate spots, the same amount of overall liquid was given to the plates, and they
were all sealed and labeled for transportation. The six plots were individually given
a treatment. Two of the plates were treated with 3.0 mL of Gibberellic Acid (GB).
We chose to treat two of them with the same amount to see if our overall outcome
was about the same. The second two plates were treated with 1.5 mL of
Gibberellic Acid and 1.5 mL of deionized water (DI). Again, we treated two with
the same amount to validate our results. The third two plates were treated with 3.0
mL of DI water; this was our control plate which did not receive any of the
hormone. These treatment amounts were chosen by wanting to conduct an
experiment having one treated with all hormone, half hormone and half DI water,
and just DI water. We wanted to determine what effects the hormone had on the
root length and stem length. For all six plates, the same two types of seeds were
used, Radish and Basil, and the hormone used was Gibberellic Acid. The six plates
were all prepared on March 5 and given their specific
Discourses in Childhood
What is a discourse? Describe two competing discourses of childhood and suggest the
ways that they can have an impact on children s lives.
The concept of discourse is the key to understanding a social constructionist
approach to childhood. A discourse is an independent set of interrelated ideas held
by a particular ideology or worldview. The social constructionist approach tries to
describe the different ways in which knowledge of children and childhoods are
constructed.
Different discourses of childhood have different ideas of childhood which has
different implications on the way in which children are treated. Within the social
constructionist theory there are 3 main discourses romantic, puritan and tabula rasa.

However in a scene where Lester thinks his fantasy of Angela is about to come true,
Angela reveals that she innocent in her knowledge of sexual matters, reminding

an amoral, sinful, knowing young girl in line with the puritan discourse and ends by
depicting children as people in need of protection and who are innocent, and as
childhood as a time which adults should be protecting the child from anything that
will shatter the child s innocence. In a sense, the end of the clip depicts the adult s

These discourses affect our views of children which in turn affects how children are
thought of and therefore treated. In adopting a Romantic view, you will see children
as innocence which in the 2 media clips, was associatedwith vulnerability and purity.
According to Rousseau, children should be protected from the adult world, and
everything should be done to make their childhood a happy carefree time. As already
seen though through the 2 film clips, the Puritan discourse treats children as being
unruly and in need of control. They are treated as being responsible
Jean Piaget s Four Stages Of Psychosocial Development

Psychosocial Development
Developmental is understood as the act or process of developing; progress such as
child developmental. When children go through the process of developing, they all
develop the same regardless of what state or country there from. The way children
develop has been studied by two psychologists name Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson
and they both develop a theory of how children develop through their entire life
starting as a newborn baby through adulthood. Jean Piaget came about four theories
of children develop and Erik Erikson came about eight theories of children develop.
Psychologist Jean Piaget was born August 9, 1896 in Neuchatel, Switzerland. He was
his parents first born child. Piaget continued his education through high school then
attended the University of Neuchatel where he received his Ph. D in natural science,
then study one semester at the University of Zurich in psychology. During his study
of psychology, he became interesting in psychoanalysis which leads him to later
study abnormal psychology at the Sorbonne in Paris. ( Jean Piaget. Bio. A E

prevalent in India. They have set up production and sourcing bases with thorough

Tanishq was the largest overseas chain in US with 1,200 outlets. In the year 2000,

The Works of Magritte Essay
Rene Magritte was an enigmatic and strange man who painted surrealism paintings.
Little is known about his childhood except that his mother, Regine Magritte took
her own life by drowning herself in the Sambre river. Young Magritte is thought to
have discovered her body floating with her night garment covering her face. There
is speculation that this trauma was an influence on many of Magritte s works.
When Rene Magritte took up his brushes, he created beautiful visual riddles that
delight and bewilder the viewer. His clean lines and highly detailed finishes made
his brush strokes nearly invisible; his paintings look as if they came from a printing
press. Magritte referred to his paintings as his labors. He did labor over the paintings

The exploration of the mind and the way our conscious mind perceives the
symbols of our subconscious minds was new ground and it gave art a new voice
with which to sing. The surrealist artists believed the dream state and subconscious
mind to be an untapped and very fertile creative fount of inspiration. The
symbolism of dreams and the expressive images generated by the subconscious
were far more thought provoking than the representational, logical images of the
conscious mind. The surrealist artists were creating art out of what others thought
to be garbled and unintelligible. They were in effect taking a concept created to
heal and using it to create art instead. They were on to something with this. No
matter what the medium or the style used, a bit of the self becomes visible and
evident in the result. Art therapy is one of the modern descendants of this
movement. The movement spread and soon there were surrealist groups cropping
up in the metro areas of the world. It was around this same time that Rene Magritte
was shown a painting by Giorgio de Chirico and soon became member of the
surrealist group. Today, the name Magritte has come to be synonymous with
Surrealism. It may have been that Magritte felt attraction to the surrealist movement
because of its ability to convey an idea with great eloquence as well as its focus on
the deeply meaningful rather than the superficial. His statement about the works of
Giorgio de Chirico supports this
Exposure In Domestic And Laboratory Animals Lab Report
Exposure in domestic and laboratory animals In among the food crops peanut meal
is considered as the most contaminated feed by aflatoxin. These are consumed by

meals are mainly caused due to mold metabolites. These metabolites produce
carcinogenic effect in rat, ferret, trout and duck. Mainly the organ affected by

Due the effect in liver cells they are enlarged and later results in fatty depositions
and changes that lead to increase in connective tissue, progressive biliary

lymphocytes and polymorphonuclear leukocytes in the portal tracts. as a result of
this action few weeks after the exposure lymphocytic hyperplasia, fibrosis and
biliary proliferation is occured. Due to the aflatoxin toxicity mitochondrial injury is
indicated in the liver cells where a drastic reduction in activities of enzymes such as

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the
man who championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form
and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance
identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the
establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers
representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives
workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair
labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have
majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages,
hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119

joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the
NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the
NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the
Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its
787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s
main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided
to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more
strikes occurring in the future.

The Second Industrial Revolution was also known as the Technological Revolution,
and was fueled somewhere between the 1820s and 1860s. It transformed the United
States economically, and created a new meaning of Production, and Distribution.
When people think of the second industrial revolution, it is usually associated with
the Railroad systems, and its significance in massive production throughout the
country. There were other innovations as well as the railroad, such as steamboats,
roads for cars to travel, linking cities to together for faster distribution. Steel was very
popular at the time, even though steel has been being made throughout history; the

had been keeping a journal for a few weeks before this assignment began. For those
who may not know a dialectic journal is when for a set number of days a person

to what they wrote. My focus was supposed to be a tomato, but I quickly realized
that the tomato was only there to begin the conversation. I have always been a
person who is inside their head more often than not, which made some of the entries
begin to come from a darker room within my mind. When I started writingthis journal
I was okay with the assignment, and it was fun to come up with the story of

myself. I jokingly write at one point that if this journal does not end in psych

Gay Straight Alliance Research Papers
The small campus of Orange County Community College has multiple groups to
join, there is one group I would like to join and one group that I would not want to
join. The one group that piques my interest the most to join is the Gay Straight
Alliance. One of the main reasons that this group interests me is the fact that it is an
organization made for the LGBTcommunity, and I really connect with that. Due to
me being part of the gaycommunity, joining an organization that tries to make a
peaceful coexistence between themselves and the majority is something to aspire
to. One of the more moving parts of this organizations is that they like to discuss
social issues and how to attempt to support them. I really like to be an advocate for
social issues and try to assist in any way to minorities and anyone... Show more

The man replied that since the Bible does have real life impacts on how to live,
that they do not actually talk about social issues. Due to my wish to help advocate
for a better society, this simple fact that they do not discuss this topic does not
satisfy me. As can be seen from my wishes to join the Gay Straight Alliance, I have
a complicated relationship with religion. I do not dislike religion, but I do fight it
when it starts to limit people s lives and their possibilities. I do not know the
Christian Club s open mindedness, but even if they did accept me I do not feel as
though I would feel comfortable being in such an environment. For that reason
alone, I would not like to join this club. Ultimately I do not know if I have the time
to really be a proactive member in a group, but I would like to come in and say hi
in the Gay Straight Alliance at least once. I do not hate the Christian Club, but it is
not something I would like to partake in. In essence, groups are about finding people
like you and I feel like the Gay Straight Alliance would suit me
Satanic Rituals
multiple times during rituals (Hudson, 1990: 58). Some survivors might experience
deregulated sleep patterns or alcoholism as well (Rivera, 1996: 163). Because of the
neglecting conditions survivors were born into, they tend to stick to dissociative,
abnormal, and unhealthy ways to manage their internal and external conflicts. These
defense mechanisms serve to protect their ego from getting hurt (Stroh, 1996: 75).
Moreover, those symptoms have to be taken seriously and must be intensely treated
by healthprofessionals. Finally, once symptoms have been observed, intensive and
painful treatment sessions must begin. Therapy is a very structured process. There
are no clinicians specialized in the treatment of Satanic ritual abuse yet, however
The Circular Ruins by Jorge Luis Borges Essay

Green is derived from blue and green will become more brilliant than blue
Chinese Proverb
The Chinese have a proverb about the evolution of humanity, and in particular, the
nature of intellectual relationships. Although the color green is composed from the
color blue, it often shines with a more brilliant luster than its predecessor does. This
is a metaphor for the pupil and teacher. The pupil learns knowledge from his teacher,
but will outgrow his teacher and eventually surpass him in wisdom. I believe this
accurately describes the progress of human knowledge throughout time. In fact, it is
quite obvious how technology and science have improved as time goes on. There are

Borges allows the reader to observe the sufferings of a fallible god. In fact, the entire
story outlines the anguish and frustrations of the magician. He starts off as an
irrelevant man, only one of the many others who lived in the infinite villages
upstream (45). But his task gives him a purpose and sets himself apart from the
other villagers. The peasants start to leave him food and respectfully worship him
in doing so. But as this so called god proceeds to spend days manipulating his
dreams so that he can create a man, he does not do anything for the peasants in
return. Even after the son is finished, it is the product of a selfish act. The magician
created the son to give his own life meaning. Neither the son nor the magician appear
to do anything for the other people around them. They are merely charmed men. In
addition to being a selfish god, the magician is imperfect in that he experiences
failure, insomnia, and frustration. The magician fails in his first attempt to create the
son and finds he must rely on superstition or good luck (he begins again when the
moon is perfect in order to be successful in the second attempt).
Once the son is created, the magician proceeds to teach him and it is subtly
apparent that the son is indeed less flawed than his creator is. One could even say
that the magician s desires to make the son as perfect as possible, both physically
and mentally, were carried out. The son quickly learns his lessons and becomes
Illinois State University Education Case Study
To Whom It May Concern: I am interested in Illinois State University. I was glad to
read that you like me know that student motivation and academic preparation are not
fully revealed by a student s high school transcript or by standardized tests.
Highschool bored me, simply it was not challenging, highschool is no longer an
institution which can provide an education sufficient to meet the challages of the
modern economic situation. A highschool diploma is no longer a document which
alone will allow an indivual to attain a job which will support a family. Also, the
SAT is no longer a test which divides those who have studied and have made the
effort to achieve, from those who bumble through school. At the point books were

The League of Nations Justification for Appeasement * Although the League should

the problem was that the League was seriously weakened by the non membership

His son loses respect for him and is responsible for Biff s inability to live up to the

even adulthood, Biff has no respect for his father and he and Willy get into constant

The Access Of Equity Finance Through Crowdfunding
From almost the beginning, the idea of community and local based Slow Money
ideals being served through crowdfunding was acknowledged here in Southern
California. Our Slow Money SoCal founding members were working against a
conservative legal backdrop and a sprawling suburbia that made local investing and
the community building it entails all the more difficult. In our early days, while we
measured the idea of crowdfinancing still serving the Slow Money Principles, we
decided it was a legitimate sounding of our regional voice. Today, the access to
equity financethrough crowdfunding is just another opportunity to continue to serve
ways to catalyze capital while exploring the inherent tension between the virtual
world and the visceral character of a place based investing.
We were broached by Kiva, the grandfather to all technology based crowdfinancing
in 2013. Slow Money SoCal had worked without much success, for an approach to
local investment during its first year and was ready to consider another way. Still
reticent about the rules and regulations that served to inhibit a local investing story,
we chose to sign on as an early Kiva Trustee hoping to get our feet wet as we
continued to develop our more down to earth, place based approach. We endorsed
our first Kiva loan in March 2014.
In those early days of Slow Money SoCal, though some of us were comforted by the
Kiva partnership and its legal sanctions, some thought the partnership was a
distraction. If we were busy doing

When competitors offer a lower price, it will enhance the possibility of the customer
changing the purchase behavior (Wathne et al., 2001), and also undermine the
consumer s consumption inertia for the original company. The study found that there
are three issues existing in the studies of customer purchasing behavior in the fast
food industry: (1) Why can consumers rapidly return in such a short period of time
after a fast food industry negative news outbreak, or even not be impacted at all.
Therefore, regarding the factors that impact customer loyalty in the fast food industry,
in addition to customer satisfaction, are there any other important impact factors? (2)
The fast food industry is different from the general food retailer. It has the
characteristics of being rapid, convenient, and having a low price; however, the
commonly seen customer satisfaction model (e.g. American Customer Satisfaction
Index; European Customer
Customer Satisfaction Index) cannot really present these characteristics. (3) Inertial
behavior exists in the food purchasing behavior (Carrasco et al., 2005). However,
there have been no scholars who have applied it to explore the relation between
customer satisfaction and loyalty in the fast food industry. It can be seen that there is
an important study gap that exists in the exploration of customer satisfaction and
loyalty in the fast food industry; therefore,
Abbreviation Battery IQ Testing
Quality of the test material in SB5 are innovative, functional, and all the material
successful provides a basis for the five factors of cognitive ability. Anagloies,
manipulation of toys, reasoning with pictures, and memory test of the last word in
a sentence are the various things that will be presented in a SB5 kit ( Rod, 2003).
These various types of test material will help an examiner see where the examinee
is having problems. In order to replace the SB5, it depends if a person needs a
whole kit with scoring additives or individual components such as Item Books or
manipulatives kit. The cost to replace the SB5 complete kit will cost close to 2,000
dollars, and scoring additives will increase the price by a hundred. (Riverside, 2013).

The ease of the test will come from a psychologist or anyone who is properly
trained that has had practice with the layout and questions before it is
administered. The time required for adults and children are very different,
especially if an individual is very young, uncorrupted, or has physical disabilities
might extend the average times for each section. For an average intelligent adult,
the Abbreviation Battery IQ test takes 15 to 20 mins to complete, while the
nonverbal and verbal IQ test takes 20 mins, a total of a hour is needed to complete
the test (Rod, 2003). With these occurrences, an examiner needs to adjust how
long the test will take depending on the specific person. There are two methods to
scoring the results of a SB5 test. Scoring by head or using the SB5 ScoringPro. The
method of scoring is easy, but careful addition and conversion of raw data has to
occur. The ScoringPro is the best method of scoring the SB5. Both of these methods
are accurate, but ScoringPro is a computer based software that scores the SB5. The
accuracy of interpretation methods is very accurate. The methods in the SB5 is stated
clearly which makes it very understandable. The scores that are received from the
methods displays that there is a broad examination and replication of construct
validity (Canivez,
Pearl Harbor Air Raid Analysis
Because of the sudden attacks, the air raid on Pearl Harbor had three very unusual
features regarding the injuries for the medical personnel to deal with. First, there
was a great number of casuaIties received at the hospitals in a short period of time;
second, many patients had been overboard at some point and were covered with
fuel oil; third, there was a very high percentage of burn cases (Hayden). How did the
hospitals handle all of these tragedies at once and remain successful?
Just 36 hours before the air raid, a lecture was given to all the medical personnel in
the area about how to handle the quantities of wounded in an attack setting. After,
they had a scenario were stress was placed on the personnel to quickly and
adequately clean wounds by soap and water, followed by the surgical removal of
lacerated or contaminated tissue. Three criteria were to be fulfilled: (1) obtaining
normal color, (2) bleeding, and (3) muscle contraction. When this was completed, the
next step was to place in the wound an adequate amount of a sulfonamide drug, either
sulfanilamide and sulfathiazole. No wounds were to be sutured, but instead left wide
open or to have nonabsorbable interrupted sutures placed, but not tied until the third

Indigenous Struggle for a Life with Dignity in the Ecuadorian Amazon
In this paper I argue that lawsuit filed against ChevronTexaco for dumping 18
billion gallons of toxic wastewater, spilling roughly 17 millions gallons of crude
oil, and leaving hazardous waste in hundreds of open pits dug out of the forest floor
have affected more than the ecosystem of the Ecuadorian Amazon. ChevronTexaco
has also completely threatened the Ecuadorian indigenous people s way of life and
was able to delegitimize their claim due to the global capitalist system and lack of
epistemic justice. However I also argue in this paper that the indigenous people s
struggle against ChevronTexaco is an exemplification of resistance to the global
capitalist system and stands in solidarity with the global justice movement.
Indigenous peoples is a term especially used in the international context to recognize
the existence of ancestral peoples who existed prior to the formation of modern nation
states and whose way of life was, and is, historically denied, outraged and
discriminated against. In September 2007 the United Nations Declaration on the
Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples was signed. This represents a huge discursive
change within the international context when recognizing the importance of
indigenous people s livelihoods. Indigenous ethos versus western ethos is extremely
different in how they identify themselves. Indigenous peoples characteristically
The Simple Gift Analysis
Through studying texts one can gain a greater understanding of how individuals
can transition into more prosperous and positive phases of life as well into new
and differing social contexts. This is explored in the texts The Simple Gift
composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new life in the town of
Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and moves
into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of
transitions in these texts, the responder gains a wider perceptionhow circumstances
can create transitions into new phases of life and gain a greater understanding of
contrasting social contexts.
Transitions can result in entering new social contexts, resulting in a new phase of
life in which a positive outlook on life is attained. Herrick is able to convey this in
The Simple Gift as Billy needs to transition into a more satisfying and fulfilling life
through entering a completely new social context. Assonance and profanity in each
deadbeat no hoper s thole lonely downtrodden house emphasises and drives home
his resentment for his current social context and highlights the need for Billy to
transition into a new stage in his life, while the use of first person in I m not proud,
I m sixteen and soon to be homeless foreshadows that from Billy s point of view
transition is going to be of a confronting nature. A stark contrast is seen between this
description and that of Billy s use of positive
Bram Stoker s Dracula And Van Helsing
As time goes on, people seem to change and move on from the past and this is
because of innovation, improved education, culture, or even society itself. In Bram
Stoker s epistolary novel, Dracula, there are two distinct generations that can be seen.
One is shown through spirits and holy beings while the other uses scientific methods
to prove a theory. These two distinct generations must then combine to work together
and defeat the evil doer Dracula. The book introduces the two widely diverse
characters that the readers will be able to understand in detail, and shows how
different ages or generations play a crucial role in modernity. The unique part
about the book is that it is written in diaries, journals, and newspaper articles,
showing opinions and proofs from each side of the character in the book, making
it an epistolary piece. In Stoker s book Dracula, Count Dracula and Van Helsing
show the differences between past knowledge and the present era and how these
two old but smart men must use their intelligence to survive against one another. A
terrible antagonist is introduced in the book, and he is known as Count Dracula.
The Count is an ancient yet evil soul that must devour another in order to survive.
Dracula is shown to be a rejection of God, someone who cannot truly enter heaven
until he is killed from his beastlike form. There are certain symbols in the book that
are disliked by the evil beast such as a tiny mirror, And this is the wretched thing that
has done the
Comparing Two Creation Stories In The Book Of Genesis
Some people believe that there are two creation stories in the book of Genesis. In
this paper, I will compare and contrast the events in the first two chapters of
Genesis and determine if the two creation stories theory is probable. Towards the
end of this paper, I will give my own opinion on the two creation stories theory based
off of the scriptures that I read. In the beginning of Genesis chapter one, God creates
the heaven and the earthin seven days. The second verse of Genesis chapter one tells
the readers that the Earth had no form so God, an omnipresent spirit, has to bring to
order to the newly created galaxy. According to the protestant bible, God is a powerful
spirit that can speak things into existence. For example, God simply says, let there
be light in the third verse of Genesis and this scripture shows the power of God.
After the first day of creation, God focuses on dividing the waters and creating a
firmament. The Bible tells the readers that the firmament later becomes known as
heaven.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before I actually took the time to reread the creation story, I thought the idea of
two creation stories was very silly. However, after I read the two chapters in
Genesis, I came to the conclusion that there are two creation stories in the book of
Genesis. The truth is that the differences outweigh the similarities between the two
stories and it is hard to deny the facts when it is in the scripture. Nevertheless, I
believe that both of these stories are still essential to the Christian and Jewish faith.
My favorite creation story is the one that is told in the first chapter of Genesis
because it not sexist. Although it may sound farfetched, the second creation story
focuses on a man and the woman is basically in the Garden to serve the man.
Additionally, the second story of creation does not explain why Adam is the first
human, which leads me to believe that a misogynistic male wrote this
Essay On Speech-Language Pathology
My story behind choosing to study Speech Language Pathology is much different
than many who are in the program. As far back into my childhood as I can
remember, I have had an indescribable passion for children with special needs. In
high school, there were times when special needs students in my classes needed
partners, and I would often be asked to work with them because the teachers
recognized the compassion and the patience that I held in my heart for them. I
strived to find an area of study that would incorporate this love for children, and the
desire I have for being a helping hand in all situations. I graduated high school with
the long term goal of becoming a clinical therapist who works specifically with
children. I did pursue this, and I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology.
However, I soon learned that this wasn t what I felt destined to do. After a lot of
research and even more prayers, I decided that Speech Language Pathology... Show

The Types Of Essay. Different Types Of Essays And How To Write Them - Addison Scribble

  • 1. The Types Of Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Types of Essay" presents its own set of challenges, requiring a delicate balance of information, analysis, and clarity. The difficulty lies not only in elucidating the various types of essays but also in presenting a cohesive narrative that engages the reader. Firstly, delving into the nuances of each essay type demands a comprehensive understanding of their distinct characteristics. The writer must navigate through the intricate differences between argumentative, expository, narrative, and other forms of essays, carefully avoiding confusion while ensuring that each type is adequately explored. Furthermore, maintaining a coherent structure is pivotal. Balancing between providing sufficient depth for each essay type and avoiding excessive verbosity poses a constant challenge. The writer must tread the fine line between conciseness and elaboration, ensuring that the reader grasps the essence without feeling overwhelmed. Another challenge lies in offering meaningful insights and analyses. Mere enumeration of essay types is insufficient; the essay should delve into the purposes, structures, and conventions unique to each type. This requires a nuanced exploration that demonstrates a thorough grasp of the subject matter. Moreover, achieving a smooth transition between different essay types is essential for the essay's overall flow. Seamlessly connecting ideas while avoiding abrupt shifts is crucial to maintain reader engagement and comprehension. In conclusion, tackling an essay on "The Types of Essay" demands a meticulous approach, balancing the need for detailed exploration with the requirement for clarity and coherence. It necessitates a keen understanding of the nuances of each essay type and the ability to convey this information in a manner that is both informative and engaging. • 2. Coral Bleaching The Great Barrier Reef The Great Barrier Reef is Australia s natural gifts. The Great Barrier Reef is the world s largest coral reef. The Reef is located off the coast of Queensland. It is the largest living thing on Earth and even visible from outer space. The area is 348,000 kmВІ and considered a one of the world s heritage sites. Thousands of reefs and hundreds of islands made of over 600 types of hard and soft coral. It s home to countless species of colourful fish, molluscs and marine animals (starfish, dolphins, turtles etc.). The Great Barrier Reef is a large tourist attraction of Australia and is important to some cultures such as aboriginals. It reaches from Torres Strait to the north of Lady Elliot Island. The Australian and Queensland governments are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As global warming continues, corals will not be able to keep up with increasing ocean temperatures. Coral bleaching has led to increase of un healthy reefs. The raising of sea temperatures slows down coral growth and loss of coral. Coral bleaching is expected to occur more often and worse in the future, making it difficult for corals to recover. Some coral types, such as staghorn corals, are really sensitive to bleaching, and these will be the most affected. Corals that deal with the sea temperatures better will dominate the Great Barrier Reef. Some reefs rely on the animals to help control coral bleaching; climate change has effect some marine animals such as some of the fish of the Great Barrier Reef. The preferred temperature range leads them to find a new habitat. Climate change will also affect the population and sea turtle s e habitat. Storms and creatures that eat through limestone which wear down reefs. The Great Barrier Reef has adapted to cope with the impacts of cyclones and severe storms. However, many scientists predict that intense cyclones (such as cyclone Hamish and cyclone Yasi) will occur more often due to climate change. Reef recovery from severe storms is slow, because fewer corals survive to help affected
  • 3. The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is Peter Paul Rubins. This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp, Belgium. The socio cultural situation during at that time and place was tense with the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that resumed in 1619. This war was being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries (comprised of some of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that began in 1618. This piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to paint the oil onto the canvas. The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux and Castor who kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two recognizable images are Castor, who is dressed in garb common for a horse tamer, while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear that the two daughters are being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The exact location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of some sort where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Although the time in which it is happening is not evident either, based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What happens to the daughters of Leucippus in this scene is incredibly tragic and yet the artwork also predicts the tragedy that will befall the brothers. I think the other qualities could be described as dramatic such as the awkward and flailing positions of the women that is meant to bring attention to the piece. This work really reminds me of other traditional art pieces I have seen with the style of the painting and the usage of darks and lights to highlight figures. I think it is very similar to other paintings I have seen about mythical figures but this one seems to emphasize on the roles of
  • 4. The New England Convicts Convicts were first bought to Australia in the year 1788 with the first fleet which was led by Captain Arthur Phillips. In the first fleet, there were 11 ships with a total of 717 convicts aboard. The ships were called, Alexander, Borrowdale, Charlotte, Fishburn, Friendship, Golden Grove, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales, Scarborough, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply. Out of these 11 ships, 6 of them were used to transport convicts. These 6 ships were, Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the last one was Scarborough. The other 5 were used to transport supplies. This voyage from England to Australia took over 252 days which would be 8 months and 1 week. The first fleetset sail on the 13th of May in the year 1787 from England... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That was until 1783 when the American War of Independence ended. When America refused to take in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners somewhere else. Due to prisons overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put all these convict. Their solution, was to put them in old, rotting prison ship known as hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that could not go out into sea and fight but they were still able to safely float on the water in the harbour. Once all the hulks were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia because they thought that no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many years. One other reason that they moved these criminals here was because their old system was very cruel and it really disturbed the public. Their system was to chop the head off of the criminal. Due to the finding of Australia, it gave the English a new opportunity, for both the expansion of the empire and a place to keep the convicts. The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment, reduced the population stress in the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the newly identified territories. This idea of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death sentence. The death sentence was not fully removed, as it still existed for the people who committed major crimes. There was amnesty of the death sentence for the people that committed minor crimes. What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia? The work a convict did, was dependent on who they worked for, what skills they had and where they worked. Now we are going to look at how a convict s day went by. Rules
  • 5. Feminist Analysis Of The Great Gatsby Introduction Feminist economists, sociologists and many other scholars from different social disciplines have been analyzing the tangled relations between factors of production and their connection to reproduction. (ToДџrul MemiЕџ 2011, 4) Reproductive work, increasingly referred as social reproduction, helps to create supporting and servicing facilities for current and future work force and mostly known care giving and domestic duties but it has a broader scope than the biological reproduction. Reproductive work includes baring and caring children, taking them to school, preparing food, dishing, cleaning and so on. For instance, when child gets sick, someone has to sit and hold hands of him/her at nights. They are all reproducing society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I as a double major student in Sociology and Economics took an Economics of Gender course from department of economics last fall semester and this feminist approach on economics attracted my attention. The lectures of Ећemsa Г–zar and particular articles from Gary Becker, Hande ToДџrul and Emel MemiЕџ heavily influenced my standpoint and shaped my framework of research. Also Selma James collected work which is named Sex, Race and Class , Ferhunde Г–zbay s KadД±n EmeДџi ve Д°stihdamД±ndaki DeДџiЕџimler: TГјrkiye Г–rneДџi , and GГјl Г–zyeДџin s Untidy Gender are sources of my inspiration. In the article of Feminist Economics and Its Continued Leap, MemiЕџ and ToДџrul argue that basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, health care, and education are satisfied not only through production in the paid formal markets, but also through reproduction and production in unpaid forms within the home, communities and society at large. According to feminist scholars, the economy is stratified by gender. Thus, gender should be an analytical category in economic analysis. Another critique is that the distribution studies focus narrowly on household income distribution. They question mainstream and heterodox economics for their silence about persistent
  • 6. Marco Polo s Paradise In Heaven, Suzhou On Earth When the Venetian merchant Marco Polo traveled to the orient, he saw many wondrous things. Two cities that inspired him a lot were Suzhou and Beijing. In Suzhou he saw people who could conquer the world and in Beijing he saw a city that had a standing truly unparalleled among the cities of the World. These descriptions showed the immense greatness that both cities bestowed on guests from abroad and it is something that hasn t changed over the years. Over the years the Chinese gave Suzhou s grandeur this description: Paradise in Heaven, Suzhou and Hangzhou on Earth. For Suzhou the splendor started in the year 514 BC when King Helu of the Wu state decided to build a capital city near Lake Taihu. He tasked the project to his minister, Wu Zixu, who designed the city to ensure environmental harmony. The effects of this can still be seen today as modern day Suzhou is equal parts water and land. Over the years this city has grown to become one of the most storied cities in all of China. Firstly, Suzhou and its inhabitants have had a great impact of war. As the capital of the Wu state numerous assaults were taken to cement the power of the state. Originally the name of the city was Wu to honor the ruling power. This strong power was shown when King Helu managed to defeat the neighboring state of Chu due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even before there was an established city, Peking man, a predecessor to modern humans, inhabited the caves around Beijing. Legends have Beijing starting 4000 years ago with the mythical Yellow Emperor defeating the Flame Emperor to unite the two rival tribes. This triumph marked the need to build a capital which is how Beijing came to be. However, the real story of Beijing starts in the Warring States Period (475 221BC) when Marquis of Yan established a capital for his state called Ji. It was this city that served many of China s major dynasties as a
  • 7. The Principle of Persuasion Essay According to the text , Social Psychology, social psychology is the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another (pg. 4) this is viewed in a variety of social topics incorporating group behaviors, attitudes, conformity, obedience to authority, stereotypes and peer pressure. Outside factors can have a positive or negative affect our view of ourselves and each other. These outside factors are used to persuade and influence group behavior. Persuasionis defined as the process by which a message induces change in beliefs, attitudes, or behaviors (Myers, 2010, pg. 230). The principles of this process of persuasion according to researchers, Robert Cialdini and Thomas Davidson, are attractiveness and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A perfect example of this social proof phenomenon is the laughing tracks added to sit coms. Since there is laughter in the background we assume it must be funny so we laugh. Everyone else is laughing so must we. Consistency is defined as the conformity in the application of something which is necessary for the sake of logic, accuracy, or fairness. Accoring to Persuasion is a Science, by Peter Wilby, people that appear to be an expert and trustworthy are more likely to be followed. Cialdini is quoted in this article as saying, People then listen differently to the next thing you say. They open their ears and minds. So, when recommending someone for a job, mention a weak spot before you rhapsodise about their brilliance (Wilby, 2007, para. 5). Authority is closely related to credibility. If someone has authority, people tend to be willing to be persuaded by them because they believe in them and they recognize them as an authoritative figure. Doctors are percieved to have authority on medical issues therfore we, as their patients, are inclined to listen (or be persuaded by) their advice as to our health problems. Scarcity is another principle of persuasion. Often times we are pulled into deals in the retail industry because it s a one time offer . The act of limiting access to a message causes individuals to want to receive it more and to become more favorable to it according to Davidson (para. 42). The biggest
  • 8. Interprofessional Communication in Healthcare Reflection on the Handover Video Vignette The issue of inter professional communication is a critical aspect of contemporary healthcare to enhance team communication and collaboration; its unique principle is the ability of building mutual trust, understanding and support in healthcare environment (Portsmouth, Coyle amp; Trede, 2012). More importantly, it ensures patient s intensive care and outcomes effectively. In this reflective essay, by approaching the 5Rs framework for reflection, I will be evaluating and analysing my personal characteristics, namely assertivenessand active listening skills compared to characteristics of two health professionals working in multidisciplinary team through a pregnancy related stroke handover.... Accordingly, this could be explained that they had a completely handover performance as a result of effective inter professional communication and collaboration in order to optimise patient s outcome. Initially, I questioned myself whether I might have reflective practice skills like two clinicians when conducting a clinical process appropriately in the inter professional communication environment. Although I could possess these characteristics as my personality trait, I realize that there is a gap of cognitive knowledge to meet effective communication strategies in professional practice. Apparently, as a first year nursing student, I have not sufficiently developed my ability to perform assertive and active listening skills like them. As the pregnancy related stroke case is to threaten the safety for Sally and her baby, there should have proper characteristics of teamwork communication to cooperate adequately. However, I could not manage my voice and body posture calmly, relaxed if I encounter this situation; moreover, I might have some limitation of conveying handoff professionally and confidently like James. Then, although I am used to be good at active listening skill, I may interrupt James to clarify patient s information sometimes; even I could not
  • 9. The Cause And Effects Of The Drug War In Mexico More than 60,000 people have been killed in the ongoing drug war in Mexico. The fact that this violence has yet to reach its acme is quiet frightening. The freight instilled in the tourist that once found the many hotspots located in Mexico such as Acapulco and Cancun are now terrified to set foot in the land. Due to the fact that there is no safe or secure area where tourist can venture out for a good time. Due to violence Mexico has been affected with a lack of tourist, revenue and its acclaimed bad reputation. Before the drug war scene escalated in 2006 Mexico was one of the top travel destinations for people all around the world. Mexico could be at the risk of dropping out of the top ten tourist destinations in the world. Total tourist visitation has decreased by 15% from 2010 to 2012 this is a huge decrease and is now affecting Mexico s total revenue. Revenue is the total amount of income that is brought by a company, city or country. While the drug cartels average out about 22 billion dollars annually since the drug war began Mexico has lost an abundance of cash flow and customers due to the drug war. Despite the terror everyone around the country talks about they still venture into Mexico providing them with an astonishing 13.8 billion dollars from 2006 to 2008. It is clear to see that the total amount of money going both ways is staggering, but more money is flowing into the drug cartels hands. This money is being used to purchase drugs and weapons. CNN reporter states that that over 70% of the weapons that have been removed from cartels or found at crime scenes are traced back to the United States of America. With the cartels in possession of so much of the revenue that used
  • 10. Why Did England Become Such A Powerful Empire The English Navy was the main force England used when fighting against their enemies in the early and late colonial era. They were a strong force with their ships, soldiers, and tactics. But how did England become so strong in their navy? What helped England become such a powerful empire? England started to become this force during the Elizabethan Era when the English ships were built and used differently. Moreover, their tactics on how they fought against their enemies changed, and who fought and sailed for the English rulers was greatly improved. There are many ways to explain how Englandbecame such a powerful naval empire. It all started with the English war against the Spanish Armadain the late 1580s. The English saw that there was no way to win against the Spanish without a great naval force, so they changed everything they could to improve their chances to win against the catholic Spanish. The battle against the Spanish started a great new era on how the English used their ships and started the change on the type of ships used during this time. After Disney s big hit Alice Comedies and cartoons of Mickey and the gang, he moved his office to Burbank, California. There, Walt and his brother, Roy, came up with their most famous movies such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Alice in Wonderland. Now with two American amusement parks, three international parks, multiple cruise lines, multiple resorts, over five hundred films, and over thirty academy award, it s hard to not heard of Disney. Every boy or girl has at least seen or heard of Disney movies. It s such a big part of society today that it becomes influential in a kid s childhood. This project will look at the underlying effect of the Disney princess phenomenon and how it shapes a young girls perspective of herself and how she s supposed to be. The proper study first came about in the 16th century when algebraic answers for roots of cubics and quartics were revealed by Italian mathematicians Tartaglia and Cardano. For example, the treatment of resistors, capacitors, and inductors are unified by combining them in a single complex number called the impedance, which is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to a current when a certain voltage is applied. AlgebraThe Quadratic FormulaEarly methods for solving quadratic equations were purely geometric. Babylonian tablets contained problems which could be reduced to solving quadratic equations. The Egyptian Berlin Papyrus (2050 1650 BC) contains the solution to a two term quadratic equation. Euclid (300 BC) used geometric methods to solve quadratic equations in his book Elements. In Arithmetica, Diophantus (250 BC) solved quadratic equations with methods which more closely resembled algebra. However, his solution only gave one root, even when both roots are positive. Brahmagupta (597 668 AD) explicitly described the quadratic formula in words instead of symbols in Brahmasphutasiddhanta in 628 AD. His solution of ax^2+bx=c equated to the formula: x=(в€ љ(4ac+b^2 ) b)/2a In the 9th century, Persian mathematician al Khwarizmi solved quadratic equations algebraically. The quadratic formula which covered all cases was first described by Simon Stevin in 1594. The quadratic formula that we know today was published by Rene Descartes in La Geometrie in 1637. The first appearance of the general solution in modern mathematical literature was in an 1896 paper by Henry

The Causes And Consequences Of The First Crusades Going against modern day religious beliefs, in 1095AD the Christians went to war to claim the holy city of Jerusalem, massacring the Muslims in a bloody attempt to worship their God. Pope Urban II s speech at Clermont inspired by claims made by the Byzantium Emperor encouraged the Christians to partake in the First Crusade in an attempt to liberate Jerusalem. The religious and economic factors were the most relevant to cause this crusade, with some influence from desired political gain and little from social factors unrelated to religion. The immediate consequences were positive for the Christians and negative for the Muslims, but the First Crusade launched an ongoing conflict between the Christians and Muslims which had positive and negative consequences for both sides. There are a number of relevant modern sources which examine the causes and consequences of the First Crusade, but, while there are many medieval sources, they do not explicitly discuss the causes and consequences of the war. In order to fully comprehend the First Crusade, it is necessary to analyse the religious, economic, and political factors, as well as the short term, long term, and modern consequences. The modern book source which proves the most useful in discussing the causes and consequences of the First Crusade is Crusades: The Illustrated History, by Thomas Madden. Madden is an extremely reliable source, as he is considered to be an authority on the Crusades, with a BA, MA, and PhD in history.

Erikson created eight human s development stages. Those stages are: trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. role confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. stagnation, and integrity vs. despair. These development theories are part of everyone s life from the time they are born to the end of life. At this stage, children become adolescents who try to figure out their personality and how they will fit to society. This is the stage after childhood and the body is changing within hormones. According to Berger (2014), psychosocial development during adolescence is often considered the search for self understanding. Their personality changes back and forth as they try to differ from others and if they do not establish a final identity, they become confused about themselves. Intimacy versus isolation is the sixth stage of psychosocial development. This is the time when people look for formal relationships and tend to debate whether they will be loved or will be lonely. Dunkel and Sefcek (2009) stress that this stage represents the ability to share with and commit to another, most often in the form of romantic relationships. The psychosocial strength that can be gained in the sixth stage is love. In this case, if love is not gained, the individual might become isolated and depressed. Erikson (1963) states the

The film goes through Fall, Winter, and ends in Spring. The depicted seasons put the viewer in different moods, and let them know what is going on. For example, Spring is often associated with rebirth, so it is with Beauty and the Beast. The Beast nearly dies until Belle tells him she loves him, and he is turned back into a prince as the curse is broken. • 26. The Allegory of the Cave by Plato The Allegory of the Cave by Plato represents the differences in the way we perceive reality and what we believe is real. In his story, Plato starts by saying that in a cave, there are prisoners chained down and are forced to look at a wall. The prisoners are unable to turn their heads to see what is going on behind them and are completely bound to the floor. Behind the prisoners, puppeteers hide and cast shadows on the wall in line with the prisoners sight, thus giving the prisoners their only sense of reality. What happens in the passage is not told from the prisoners point of view but is actually a conversation held between Socrates and Glaucon (Plato s brother). As Socrates is describing the cave and the situation, he stresses the point that the prisoners are completely oblivious as to what is reality as they would know nothing but the shadows casted by items held by the puppeteers, and believe this to be their own reality. This is important to the story as it shows that what we believe is real from the moment we are born is completely wrong based on our own flawed interpretations of reality. The point so far is that it is not what we can see but what we can t see is what grasps our minds and Plato describes this thinking as imagination. Once one of the prisoners is released, he is forced to look at the fire and the objects that once made up his perceived reality, and realizes that the new images he is made to acknowledge are now the accepted forms of reality.

Jean Piaget came about four theories of children develop and Erik Erikson came about eight theories of children develop. Psychologist Jean Piaget was born August 9, 1896 in Neuchatel, Switzerland. The company justified its decision saying that it wanted to be different from the traditional Indian offerings. Tanishq was the largest overseas chain in US with 1,200 outlets. In the year 2000, exports contributed 10% to the company s turnover. The story of Tanishq, once written off as a losing proposition, making a remarkable turnaround was an example of a company single mindedly working to make its own mark in the tradition bound Indian jewellery market. Little is known about his childhood except that his mother, Regine Magritte took her own life by drowning herself in the Sambre river. Young Magritte is thought to have discovered her body floating with her night garment covering her face. There is speculation that this trauma was an influence on many of Magritte s works. When Rene Magritte took up his brushes, he created beautiful visual riddles that delight and bewilder the viewer. His clean lines and highly detailed finishes made his brush strokes nearly invisible; his paintings look as if they came from a printing press. Magritte referred to his paintings as his labors. The exploration of the mind and the way our conscious mind perceives the symbols of our subconscious minds was new ground and it gave art a new voice with which to sing. The surrealist artists believed the dream state and subconscious mind to be an untapped and very fertile creative fount of inspiration. The symbolism of dreams and the expressive images generated by the subconscious were far more thought provoking than the representational, logical images of the conscious mind. The surrealist artists were creating art out of what others thought to be garbled and unintelligible. They were in effect taking a concept created to heal and using it to create art instead. They were on to something with this. No matter what the medium or the style used, a bit of the self becomes visible and evident in the result. Art therapy is one of the modern descendants of this movement. The movement spread and soon there were surrealist groups cropping up in the metro areas of the world. It was around this same time that Rene Magritte was shown a painting by Giorgio de Chirico and soon became member of the surrealist group. Today, the name Magritte has come to be synonymous with Surrealism. It may have been that Magritte felt attraction to the surrealist movement because of its ability to convey an idea with great eloquence as well as its focus on the deeply meaningful rather than the superficial. His statement about the works of Giorgio de Chirico supports this

Topics in Labor Relations Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

I had been keeping a journal for a few weeks before this assignment began. For those who may not know a dialectic journal is when for a set number of days a person free writes for a set amount of time, and then for an equal number or days responds to what they wrote. My focus was supposed to be a tomato, but I quickly realized that the tomato was only there to begin the conversation. I have always been a person who is inside their head more often than not, which made some of the entries begin to come from a darker room within my mind. When I started writingthis journal I was okay with the assignment, and it was fun to come up with the story of Alfredo. Soon after however, my entries started to get more and more about myself. I jokingly write at one point that if this journal does not end in psych evaluation I did not do my job correctly , little did I know that the depressive side of my mind would soon bring that into a possibility. I have bipolar disorder and spend most of the last 4 days writing about it, I found that putting words on paper helped somewhat. He starts off as an irrelevant man, only one of the many others who lived in the infinite villages upstream (45). But his task gives him a purpose and sets himself apart from the other villagers. The peasants start to leave him food and respectfully worship him in doing so. But as this so called god proceeds to spend days manipulating his dreams so that he can create a man, he does not do anything for the peasants in return. Once the son is created, the magician proceeds to teach him and it is subtly apparent that the son is indeed less flawed than his creator is. ChevronTexaco has also completely threatened the Ecuadorian indigenous people s way of life and was able to delegitimize their claim due to the global capitalist system and lack of epistemic justice. This is explored in the texts The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new life in the town of Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and moves into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of transitions in these texts, the responder gains a wider perceptionhow circumstances can create transitions into new phases of life and gain a greater understanding of contrasting social contexts. The second verse of Genesis chapter one tells the readers that the Earth had no form so God, an omnipresent spirit, has to bring to order to the newly created galaxy. According to the protestant bible, God is a powerful spirit that can speak things into existence.
