The Deposition from the Cross and The Entombment of Christ The subject of religion
has captured the attention of artists for centuries, working its way throughout the
years, in and out of various of styles and movements. The artists of this era often
found themselves reliant on this subject matter due to Churches being a steady Patron
throughout the Renaissance all the way to the Baroque period. Whether it was
because of the rich cultural impact to society or the enforcement of strong divine
beliefs, depicting biblical narratives have struck an everlasting cord within this
medium. Two particular ones, in fact: The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment
of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo and The Entombment of Christ by Michelangelo
Caravaggio. Both of which provide an excellent example of how culture and artistic
style combined can alter the message of the same iconic scene and still evoke
different emotions.
The Deposition from the Cross (Entombment of Christ) by Jacopo Pontormo was
completed in 1528 and originally resided in the Florence Charterhouse as the main
altarpiece. With it s distinct iconography, the work was intended to show the public
the raw suffering of Christ after his sacrifice and how those around him felt at the

and thiosemicarbazones 3aв€’j. Thermolysis of compound 3a under reduced
pressure gave N,N`в€’dietylurea (4) in addition to 1,2 bis(3
methylbenzo[d]thiazol 2(3H) ylidene)hydrazine (5). Compound 3a was almost
quantitatively recovered upon its exposure to sunlight in methanol for 60 days.
Elementary and spectroscopic measurements (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS) are
in good accord with the structures postulated for the new compounds. The single
crystal X ray crystallographic analysis of 3f was given and its data were discussed.
The synthesized compounds 3a j as well as the hydrazone 1 were screened for their
antibacterial properties against Bacillus subtilis (G+), Escherichia coli (G ),

Time can be a thinker s most thought provoking yet infuriating concept to grasp.
Infinitely complex, time plays a crucial role in everyone s life. We do not know
much about it, other than that it is there. What is before time or after time? Most
movies move through a linear fashion. There is a beginning, middle, and end.
Narrativestructure can slightly be bended or modified, but for the most part it
follows the same basic formula. The movie Memento (2000), directed by Christopher
Nolan, follows Leonard Shelby, the main character with short term memory loss,
trying to avenge his fallen spouse. He only remembers up until the time his head was
bashed into a mirror after his spouse was sexually assaulted. The movie is told in a
unique way through two stories that do not make complete sense until the end.
Memento s unconventional narrative structure puts the audience into Leonard s
shoes, which is apparent in the movie s convoluted flashbacks, out of sequence story,

One of the most conventional uses of a flashback is to give the viewer some answers
through back story. In Memento, the audience is getting information thrown at them,

According to Aquinas arguments, the natural world includes everything that is in
existence. This includes ideologies such as motion, God, gravity, solar radiation, and
our physical environment as whole. The natural world is not only made up of things
that our senses can detect, such as touch and smell, but is also includes things such as
God and gravity which are unattainable through the senses. According to Immanuel
Kant, the sensible world includes anything that can become known to humans. The
sensible world includes things such as time and space. By reviewing the definition of
the sensible world, the plausibility of the argument for the natural world is effected
positively. Due to the fact that the natural world consists of things that the human
senses can detect, along with anything that is within the world, this argument goes
hand in hand with the ideology of the sensible world. In correlation with Aquinas s
third argument, something cannot exist being necessary and noneternal because in
order for a being to be necessary it must be eternal. This is due to the fact that in
Aquinas argument, a necessary being is eternal because nothing else brings it into
existence. In order to better understand an example of an object that would exists at
some point in each possible world, but not at all times within the actual world, it is
