1. Essay On Tolerance
Writing an essay on the topic of tolerance can be both challenging and rewarding. Tolerance is a
complex and multifaceted concept that requires a thoughtful and nuanced exploration. The
difficulty lies in navigating the various dimensions of tolerance, including cultural, religious, and
ideological aspects.
To begin with, understanding the diverse perspectives on tolerance is crucial. Different
individuals and societies may interpret tolerance in distinct ways, making it essential to consider
a broad range of viewpoints. Crafting an essay on this topic demands a balanced approach,
avoiding bias and promoting an open-minded exploration of ideas.
Moreover, delving into the historical context of tolerance and its evolution over time adds
another layer of complexity. Analyzing how tolerance has been manifested or challenged in
different periods requires thorough research and critical thinking. It necessitates the examination
of key events, figures, and societal shifts that have shaped the understanding of tolerance.
The practical application of tolerance in contemporary society also poses a challenge. Addressing
current issues related to tolerance, such as discrimination, prejudice, and social justice, requires a
keen awareness of ongoing debates and the ability to articulate informed opinions. Furthermore,
crafting solutions and recommendations for fostering tolerance involves a deep understanding of
the complexities involved in promoting acceptance and understanding among diverse
communities.
In conclusion, writing an essay on tolerance is a demanding task that requires a comprehensive
understanding of the concept from historical, cultural, and contemporary perspectives. It involves
navigating through diverse viewpoints, analyzing historical contexts, and proposing practical
solutions for fostering tolerance in society. Despite its challenges, exploring the topic of tolerance
provides an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth.

2. A Great Awakening In O Connor s Cathedral
An awakening or an epiphany can be defined as an illuminating discovery, or a
realization; it can happen publicly, or it can be disclosed. In Revelation by O
Connor and Cathedral by Carver, both of the main characters experience some
form of a great awakening. Mrs. Turpin in Revelation and Bud in Cathedral are
both introduced as characters who criticize those who do not fit their criteria of
being normal. While both characters are similar and share experiences, Mrs. Turpin
and Bud have different journeys. Mrs. Turpin is a middle class citizen who owns a
farm and has black employees. Due to Mrs. Turpin s history of having the upper
hand and being around people who are inferior to her, she developed a mindset that
separation is necessary to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turpin has a more theological and spiritual awakening while Bud has a more
practical awakening. When Mrs. Turpin has her awakening, she envisions
everyone: ugly, pretty, black, white, fat, or skinny going to Heaven together and
living eternally as one. If it wasn t for her religious practices and theology then
Mrs. Turpin may not have had her epiphany. What makes Bud s epiphany practical
is the fact that he experienced the challenges that Robert has a blind man. At the
end of the story when Bud does not open his eyes, it changes his entire view. Mrs.
Turpin learns that there is no need to hate and judge those different from you. She
undergoes a change that is dramatic for her because as a white woman in her time
period, it s not common for her to feel equal to people. If Mrs. Turpin believes in
the practices of the God to which she connects her revelation then she should have
a life lasting change. Bud s revelation is one that will change him for a lifetime. He
physically, and mentally stepped into the shoes of Robert and felt what it is like to
use your imagination to figure out the world. His revelation will probably have a
lasting effect on his life because he cannot un feel what he felt in that last
3. Health And Life Of Polynesia
Health and Life in Polynesia
Polynesia is geographically categorized as the triangular area between Easter Island,
New Zealand and Hawaii. Some of the main island groups that are included in within
the triangle are Tonga, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Niue, Tokelau, Tuvalu and French
Polynesia. While these are islands are separated geographically by the Pacific Ocean,
culturally they are known to have many similarities and can be considered united
rather than divided by the ocean (Capstick, Norris, Sopoaga, Tobata, 2009). When it
comes to health challenges each of these islands are vulnerable to the same issues, as
a result they make a joint effort to tackle these issues. Over the years Polynesia has

The Polynesian natives have decided to abandon their traditional diet for a more
appealing and glamourous imported foods that are nutrient poor and full of unhealthy
fats and sugar.
A few health professionals argue that it is the lack of nutrition education that plays a
main role in the shift to such an unhealthy diet. However, Polynesian health care
professionals have to disagree as they mention that nutrition education is included
in the school curriculum but it is the challenge of converting education to
behaviors. Children are being taught about how to ear properly and what are
healthy items they can choose to eat however, when they go to lunch junk food

Organization, 2010). There are very minimal regulations on food products in
Polynesia. While people may be educated about healthy items when it comes time
to pick out foods they have another barrier as food labels vary in language
depending on where they are imported from. Majority of the Polynesian island
communities speak English or Maori. With the majority of the imported foods
coming from countries such as Malaysia, China and the Philippines, a mass amount
of the food labels are not in English or Maori making it difficult or almost impossible
for people to read the nutrition content. Regulations requiring food labels to be in
English, the primary language in most Pacific Island

The History of Mexico.
When people think of Mexico they think Spanish, but that is wasn t always the way
it was. For thousands of years the Spanish hadn t even heard of the New World. Or
what is now known as Mexico. Various Mesoamerican tribes ruled it.
There is evidence of people living in the area over 15,000 years ago. These people
were nomadic and roamed all around South America. Around 2500 BC these people
began to grow crops and set up villages, instead of hunt and gather, and move around
all the time. This left more time to start a civilization.
One of the first of these civilizations was the Olmec, who lived around 1500 to 600

largest cities in the world, the Aztecs seemed an unbeatable force.
Although in the 1500s the Spanish started their conquest of the New World. The
Spanish occupied what is no the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The first governor of
Cuba sent three expeditions to Mexico.
The First was led by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba. He set sail in 1517. They
charted the coast along the Yucatan Peninsula, but when they ashore Mayans
attacked them and killed over half. The rest reported back to Cuba, sparking new
interest in Mexico.
One year later a second expedition set sail under the command of Juan De Grijalva.
The Expedition defeated the Mayans, and explored more of the coast. Montezuma II
heard of the Spaniards and told his subjects in the region to give them a feast and
ask them to leave. He feared this was the return of an angry Quetzalcoatl, a white god
who left Mexico but said he would return.
When the expedition returned and reported of the Aztec empire, the governor sent a
third expedition in 1519. This
5. William Drake s The Kingdom Of Danger
In the dispute between England and Catholic Spain they blamed each other for
whose fault it was. Through my research I have read both sides of the story and
have come to whose fault it really was. In the two sonnets, written by Shakespeare,
he talks about what love means to him and uses personification and imagery to get
across to the reader. Both sonnets share similar themes of love. In the The Kingdom
in Danger and Shakespeare s poems I will explicate all view points of the literary
elements.
According to Kerrily Sapet s book Elizabeth I of England, there were numerous
reasons Catholic Spain wanted to go to war with England. One was because for
many years the Queen s privateers had pestered Philip s ships, stealing their cargoes.
Queen Elizabeth supported Francis Drake s attempt to circumnavigate the globe
(Sapet 124). In Francis Drake s journey he came upon unguarded treasure along the
South American coast. Three years later he returns to England with two hundred tons
of Spain s gold and silver and upon his return is knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1581.
The Queen was in constant fear of being assassinated and how the long anticipated
confrontation of England s military and Catholic Spain. The Queen was aware that
there were many conspiracies and rebellions against her including her own cousin,
Queen Mary of Scot s who was beheaded for being a part of a plot to assassinate
Queen Elizabeth. In response to that she put Sir Francis Walsingham in charge of the

6. Like Water For Chocolate Mother
How do the mother and child relations, in the books, Blood Wedding and Like
Water For Chocolate reveal the characteristics of the mothers? Mother and child
relations are portrayed in our factual life, which affect the child, and it s up bringing.
Some relations are very solicitous and create a greater bond between each other,
while some do not. The authors Federico Garcia Lorca and Laura Esquivel
implement characters with relations of mother and child to show the characteristics
of the mothers through their relations with their children, and form the plot. These
relations and feelings between the two books Blood Wedding and Like Water For

In contrary, Laura Esquivel portrays Mama Elena as a widow, who does not allow
Tita to marry anyone, as long as Mama Elena lives; as per the De La Garza
tradition. Mama Elena enforces her do all the chores in the house and treats her like
a housekeeper. For Mama Elena, tradition was above her daughter, which obstructs
Tita from being loved by her mother. Thus, this shows the affection between mother
and child in the two books was opposite, which hints the audience the character of
Mama Elena to be a selfish, stern and a ruthless mother, while the Bridegroom s
Mother to be an affectionate, tender woman. Both the authors, Federico Garcia Lorca
and Laura Esquivel show deep affection in between the mother child bond. In Like
Water For Chocolate, Tita nurses and feeds Rosaura s child, without being a mother,
which builds a mother and child relation between the two. Similarly, such affection is
also portrayed when Leonardo s wife sings a lullaby to her child, to put him to sleep.
Thus, there is common affection in the books, to enable the reader/audience
understand the real connection between mother and child. Both the mothers are
possessive and care about their child to different extents. In Blood Wedding, the
Mother lets her Husband and Leonardo s son leave, which causes their death through
Felix. Therefore, due to this loss the Mother suffered, she is more affectionate
towards Leonardo. She then requests the
7. 1936 Presidential Election
The 1936 presidential election was known as one of the most lopsided presidential
elections in the history of United States in terms of electoral votes since Monroe s
in 1820 (Boller, P.249). In this election, Franklin Delano Roosevelt also known as
FDR campaigned on his New Deal programs against the Kansas Governor Alf
Landon. Governor Alf Landon argued that the New dealprograms were
unconstitutional and it would affect the business (Kelly).
FDR enters the election with a strong, but not unbeatable, hand. The measures that

votes to 19 (Lakeside Publishing Group). Landon was a moderate conservative and
notoriously lackluster public speaker who the party hoped could take votes from
FDR in the rural Midwest (American President: A Reference Resource). The
businessmen were really happy to hear that Landon was selected for the
presidential candidacy. He was their favorite because he was an oil man and a
fiscal conservative and had balanced his state s budget. Even the Republican
progressives liked him too because he was a former Bull Mooser who had
sponsored for the New Dealish measures as a Governor. Landon was from a farm
state which also showed that he had the chances of winning back the Western
farmers who had gone for FDR in 1932. Another plus point of Landon was that he
was an up front and simple man who was called the Kansas Lincoln. The vote for
Landon s running mate, Chicago publisher Colonel Frank Knox was undivided

the Rough Riders of Theodore Roosevelt in the Spanish American war of 1898

8. The Greatest Horrors Of Wwii
Throughout history, humans have committed many atrocities against one another.
WWII was the birthplace for some of the worst crimes against humanity ever
committed. Often times, we view the United States as a hero in WWII; as a force
that fought on the side of good. However, the United States is not an exception
when it comes to detestable acts in WWII. Aside from Hiroshima and Nagasaki,
one of our worst acts as a superpower came during Japanese war crime investigations
after the war was over. During the trials of Unit 731, a deal was made with Ishii Shiro
that the government is still trying to cover up. First, it is important to review Unit
731 and the U.S cover up so that we may address more detailed issues concerning
this topic. We will then explore the government statements on the issue of medical
and military advances as a result of the deal, and explore evidence that provides a
contrary conclusion.
One of the greatest horrors of WWII, Unit 731, is often overlooked when talking
about WWII atrocities, perhaps because it is not taught in the secondary education
curriculum. Unit 731 was a top secret Japanese medical unit during the cold war that
focused on producing biological and bacteriological weapons during WWII. While
biological and bacteriological are, by many, considered to be inhumane in nature,
Unit 731 went even further by partaking in human experimentation in order to
achieve greater knowledge about these weapons, and to gain knowledge about
anything that might

10. Essay on Art History
The exhibition Degas: Form, Movement and the Antique at the Tampa Museum of
art consist of 47 pieces from the French impressionist s Edgar Degas life. The
exhibition focuses on Degas fascination with motion, and shape and his influences
from Greek and Roman art. It consists of oil paintings, charcoal and pastel
drawings, and bronze replicas of his works. Most of the pieces are inspired by
horses, ballerinas and everyday women. He traditionally used line, color and texture
in his paintings to convey the poise and grace of the figures. He also used
asymmetry, imbalance and dramatic angles to give the dancers a more naturalistic
feeling. In his sculptures he typically used shape and space to simulate movement,

In Rearing Horse he uses a dramatic poses to express the dynamic movement of the
horse and to capture the horse s wild and unrestrained nature. In this piece I believe
Degas was trying to express a sense of freedom and impulsiveness. In Thoroughbred
Horse Walking the statue has an incomplete and spontaneous feeling to it that is
almost like a quick drawing. It feels as though Degas is trying to communicate a
feeling of defeat and resignation with this piece. In Horse with Jockey Degas is
trying to show the connection between a horse and its rider, it is meant to show how
they both move as one during a race and the relationship between man and nature.
Both Dancer Looking at the Sole of Her Right Foot and Dancer Holding Her Right
Foot in Her Right Hand are statues of Ballerinas balancing on one leg, cast in
bronze. In these pieces Degas manages to capture the poised nature of the dancer s
movements. The pieces themselves have a rough and unfinished quality to them like
a sketch or gesture drawing. These pieces show Degas love for sculpting bodies in
motion, and by looking at these pieces it was easy for me to see why Degas found
dancers such an enchanting subject; he saw even their smallest gestures inspiring and
translated that beauty into sculptures that express their rhythm and movement
perfectly.
In the statues Spanish Dancer and Grande Arabesque demonstrates Degas s ability to
convey dancelike rhythm and motion in his

Dabney is an African American and European descent whose parents went to a
segregated school in Virginia. His great grandmother of three generations before
him were free blacks before the Civil War, but during the war lived in fear that they
would be kidnapped and forced to submit to slavery, thus living in constant fear.
His grandfather of three generations before him was a white slave owner. This side
of the family is where Dabney has a connection with past family members that
were Confederate soldiers and members of the Virginia 1861 Secession
Convention. His belief is that the Confederate flag represents the men who died at
such battles like Manassas, Shiloh, and Gettysburg. He believes that the flag has
been a representation of white supremacists groups in America but to deny the
historical value of the Confederate flag would just be as wrong as the white
supremacists. Dabney s belief is that people cannot ignore prejudice or the symbol
of prejudice by the flag, but that removing the flag from public display will not stop
the white supremacists, or the prejudice that they adhere to. He believes that
removing the flags would not stop the country from jailing more minorities than
whites, and that this country needs to serve its people by resolving these problems
with real congressional help and by cultural change and education and not by
arguing over a piece of fabric. Historian Lars Prillaman belief is that the Confederate

If I had to choose between which campaign was the most ground breaking I would

This quote from Chapter 5 is describing Pip s limited reunion with Magwitch after
he had been rounded up by the police. The general statement made by Charles
Dickens in this quote, is that Pip is still an innocent young boy. More specifically,
Dickens describes Pip to be still in touch with his innocence and guilt, just as any
other child is. In this passage, Dickens is suggesting that Pip is always concerned
with what other people think of his behavior. In this passage, the author is

Blake, the manifestation of the divine. The Songs of Innocence and Experience
deal with life and the move, in particular, from youth to age. Creation is an

the lamb is easily reconciled with Christian values, even insofar as Christ, children
and lambs are interchangeable, the writer here is led to question God?s part in the
tiger?s creation: ?What immortal hand or eyes Dare frame thy fearful symmetry??
This leads us to consider whether the tiger is, in fact, a metaphor for the creative
energies of man. David Edwards suggests that Blake?s ?emphasis was on the
exuberant creativity of God, calling for a human response in the same style? ? is The
Tiger, in fact, a celebration of this industrial human response? Although terrible, the
tiger is portrayed as mathematically beautiful, with its forged structure ?burning

word ?dare?, almost as if he is questioning man?s right to play God with his great
contrived machines. Would God indeed ?smile his work to see?, now that his
arrogant human creation attempts to raise himself to divine heights? Will the great
chimneys of industry eventually tumble down like the Babel Tower of Genesis?
Perhaps, conversely, Blake was commenting on God rather than man. The geometrical
nature of the creator in The Tiger recalls a character in Blake?s mythological

King Pyrrhus states, I know not...what kind of barbarians...these may be; but the
disposition of this army, that I see, has nothing of barbarism in it (Cannibals, 1).
Thus, after witnessing the advanced military formation of the Roman Army, King
Pyrrhus changed his judgment and could no longer view the Romans as barbarians.
Knowledge then, is required to make a reasonable judgment and knowledge should be
acquired firsthand.
In the next paragraph, Montaigne reveals his source of information stems from his
servent who witnessed it firsthand: I long had a man in my house that lived ten or
twelve years in the New World (Cannibals, 1). Knowledge, then, can be acquired
from a reliable source. However, Montagine purports that not all knowledge is
desirable. This is illustrated when Montagine states, I am afraid our eyes are bigger
than our bellies, and that we have more curiosity than capacity; for we grasp at all,
but catch nothing but wind (Cannibals, 1). Here, Montagine is cautious on the
discovery of the New World because the exploration of an unknown region can
manifest to something more than one can grasp or it could end up being like the

reasonable judgments from the information provided by his servant, who had lived in

18. Importance Of Self Discipline
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful
resources that lead us to success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful
relationships, some like to get more money, others want simply happiness in their
lives and others seek better health with less weight. These are common goals, and
we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general question is: Why we
don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the
results in your future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat
a lot of pizzas and delicious food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in
your future weight. If you spend more money than what you earn today, you will
have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future.
You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these
goals, you will never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need
efforts and continuity. Self discipline will enable you to get required efforts and
continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self discipline among other skills to
eat less. If

Bloody Painful: Crime and Punishment in Elizabethan England
This article s purpose is to express the danger of breaking the law in England. Most
of the punishments of our time are deemed cruel and unusual. The death penalty can
no longer be enacted in cases of theft or highway robbery. The following paragraphs
will describe the various instruments of punishment (torture) of the period.
One out of the ordinary punishment of this era is the drunkard s cloak. It is a
punishment for public drunkenness; the name of it is somewhat misleading. The
flaw in the name comes from the fact that the cloak is less a cloak and more a barrel.

One more odd punishment worth mentioning is the ducking stool. Like the brank,
it was a punishment for women whose speech was considered too brash and brazen
or too free. The ducking stool is a wooden chair attached to a large lever system.
The lever allows the chair to be raised or lowered without the tipping of the chair,
making it parallel to the ground at all times. The chair is then lowered into the
water, dunking the loose tongued woman under the water. Based on the level of
the offense and the cruelty of the deciding party the woman could be quot;ducked
quot; any number of times, and in some cases of extreme measures, the woman
could drown from the time spent under water. Some of the ducking stools were
mobile and could be taken to the water s edge at the necessary time, while others
were fixed into place along the coast of the water as a grim reminder to the women
of the town of what free speaking could lead to.
One tool that is used as punishment was the amputation saw. Much more cruel than
the axe, the saw is slower and more painful than the relative quickness of the axe
blade.
Villagers can be considered twisted individuals because of the crowds of people that
gathered for the public punishments and executions. People relished the public
hangings, and the persons to be hanged were often falsely accused of treason, which

three forms Alpha, Beta and Gamma radiation, all three types have vastly different
applications and levels of strength. The most common type of electromagnetic
radiation used in the medical is known as ionising radiation, that form of radiation is
far more powerful than non ionising radiation because it cannot break molecular
bonds or ionise atoms. Nuclear radiation can both be exceptionally useful and
ridiculously dangerous if the proper measures are not put in place. Radiation is used
most predominantly in the medical field where patients receive controlled doses, the
expositor to radiation is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nuclear medicine is a specific branch of medicine that uses tiny amounts of
radiation to measure the severity or even treat many different disorders and
diseases like heart disease, gastrointestinal (stomach), endocrine (gland) and
neurological disorders. Radiation is also successful in identifying molecular
irregularities in the body allowing for the doctors to treat the illness before it
progresses to an irreparable or fatal stage. Nuclear medical procedures are non
invasive and, in much of the cases, painless. There is a range of types of nuclear
medical exams where a radiotracer injected, inhaled as gas, or swallowed,
radiotracers act as a contrast for the machine to show the body as the clear image.
Nuclear radiation offers procedures like radioactive iodine (I 131) therapy where a
small amount of I 131 is absorbed into the bloodstream to treat conditions affecting
the thyroid

Comparing Lester of American Beauty and Ricci of The Bicycle Thief
In American Beauty Kevin Spacey who plays Lester lives a typical middle class
life with his family. His wife is having an affair, his rebellious daughter doesn t talk
to him and his neighbors are psycho. In contrast The Bicycle Thief portrays a tight
family. Riccis wife loves him, his behaved son talks to him and his neighbors are
helpful when a crises occurs. In both of these films the main characters, Lester and
Ricci, go through a responsibility stage. Both must make a life changing experience,
either good or bad, that will have an effect on the people around them.
Lester decides to make a few changes in his rut of life, changes that are less

His main concern, like that of an adolescent who needs money, is to get a job. His
responsibility is towards his family. He is in a constant state of depression because
nothing ever goes his way. His family is supportive unlike Lesters. But his desire
for responsibility is driven by class and economic need. So his desire to get the
bike back that was stolen from him turns into a family and friend hunt. His son
Bruno is with him through the entire search. Finally Ricci decides he has had
enough of looking for the bike and says to his son, You live you suffer, to hell with
it. You want a pizza? This kind of attitude made me think that he was over being
mad at the person who stole it and they might as well just make the best of what
was left of the day with each other. But when they are eating he notices what the
other people are eating. He said to his son who also noticed that, You need a
million yire to eat like that. Which sparked back up in him the hateful feelings
toward the person who stole his bike. Instead of being the better person, like Lester
was with Angela, Ricci lets his anguish get the best of him and steals someone else
s bike. He let down his moral obligation towards his son when he decided to do this.
His son realized this and kept asking him, Why daddy? Unlike Lester, Ricci did not
gain any respect, he lost the respect of everyone and his irresponsibility made him
weak in the eyes of his son.
22. Eliminating Taxes
Norman Vincent Peale once said, Change your thoughts and you can change the
world. So why don t we change the world? The first change I would make is
eliminating all taxes. After I would provide free college for everyone who wishes

could change the world. Eliminating taxes would be the first change I would make. I
would abolish taxes to save people money. With no taxes, items sold in stores would
cost less. With taxes gone, it would give people more time because no one would
have to do yearly taxes. Not having to do taxes every year saves people from the
stress and anger when a mistakes occurs. Finally, getting rid of taxes would save

Free college would cost families less money. The money that would have been
used to pay for tuition and books could be used for hospital visits or family trip. No
college fee would make achieving a degree easier. This would allow students to
focus more on their studies instead of worrying about paying them. Lastly, there
would be less stress from college students. With less stress, college would have less
drop outs than they do since the added stress of paying tuition would be lifted.
Paying for college only causes stress in the world, which is why this change needs
to be made. Lastly, I would make it so no one had to do homework. No homework
would give students more time to accomplish other things. They could finish a
book, craft, or anything they to do in their free time. There would be less stress in
the world. With no homework no one would stress about finishing it. Finally,
families would have more time to spend together. The time that is stolen from you to

stress, and families would have more time together if homework was

Constantine
When you compare the rise of arguably two of the greatest rulers in history King
Cyrus and Emperor Constantine you will discover that these to historical leaders
dramatically influenced the change of direction for Judaism and Christianity. There
are some scholars who would argue that these to ruler s conversion to god was not
sincere and they were just political masterminds. Either way Cyrus and Constantine
are two central figures in Judaism and Christianity, two of the world s major
organized religions. Cyrus and Constantine took over many lands and built their huge
empires on a religious foundation through their autonomous military, economic
policies and religious fanaticisms.
King Cyrus of the Persian Empire and Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire
seized control over neighboring cities with their military strength and later
introduce their new religious policies onto the inhabitants living in the land. There
is little known about Cyrus early life up until he became King of Persia after his
father s death. According to ancient historians King Astyages of the Median
Empire, Cyrus grandfather was told in a dream that his grandson would become
King of Persia and overthrow him. Astyages king of the Median Empire ordered his
officials to kill his grandson because of this dream but the official delegated with
this task gave the young boy to his mother and allowed them to live in exile. When
Cyrus became older he revolted against his grandfather and the prophecy came true.

American History to 1877
Last Name First Name
Date The early history of America begins with the journey of Christopher Columbus
in 1492, when he first discovered the lands of America along with the residing few
Native people. These indigenous American Indians were a vital component of the
society of the United States.
Soon after 1600, the colonial culture began to start with the arrival of the European
colonists from England, Spain, and France. The Spanish established their settlements
in Florida, while French established themselves along the Mississippi River. Around
1770, there were about thirteen colonies established by the British people, which
contained about two and a half million people. The British dominated the U.S.
territories during the earlier days, since they were successful in driving the French
out of North America .
The 13 colonies that were formed united in a Congress, which led to armed conflict in
1775, and subsequently in 1776, the Congress adopted the Declaration of
Independence, which was drafted by Thomas Jefferson. He mentioned that, all men in
these territories are equal, and thus, he found a new nation, the United States of
America.
George Washington had won the Revolutionary war through large scale military and
financial support from France, and this resulted into the peace treaty of 1783, which
gave the nation most of the land that was in the east of the Mississippi River. There
was a convention called in Philadelphia in 1787, for
25. What Is The Theme Of For My Daughter By Weldon Ke
For My Daughter by Weldon Kees (1940) Some people come into our life as
blessings. Some come in your life as lessons. These words from Mother Theresa
describe Weldon Kees poem For My Daughter written in the 1940 s which is the
time of World War II. Throughout this war people have lived in a time when
medicine was not very developed, and frequently children fell upon bad
circumstances because of their situation. You can obviously tell from the opening of
this poem that the speaker is talking about his daughter and certain that his daughter
is basically destined to have a forbidding life with no future. However, in the very
last line of the poem he acknowledges that he has no daughter and his desire none
and that puts a whole new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I began to appreciate the father for coming to his senses and rejecting his
indulgent morbidity, he delivers an unbearable surprise in the very last line that he
does not have a daughter and his desire none. Causing a great deal of confusion, the
speaker unveils his internal conflict regarding a non existing daughter and is
overwhelmed by the thought of having one. On the other hand, it is possible that
the speaker has had a daughter in the past because he starts the poem by saying
Looking into my daughter s eyes (Kees, 384 line 1). Basically, he knows there are
only a few paths that his daughter could take, and all would end up badly. Either
she would be born diseased or end up hating her life. The speaker chooses not to
have a child because he sees nothing but betrayal and misery in his vision of the
future. He chooses to withhold his own procreative urge, viewing it as his own
foreseeable complicity in the suffocation of the unborn generations. It is a very
dark poem and it is possible that this outlook was triggered by Weldon Kees time
which is during World War II. During this time in America having children was very
unsafe for the mothers and the child s. The hospitals and medicines were not what
they are today. Additionally, this poem has many reactions and we did not see the
bitterness until the end. I see sadness and a longing for a child from

Embracing Defeat by John Dower
John Dower s Embracing Defeat truly conveys the Japanese experience of American
occupation from within by focusing on the social, cultural, and philosophical
aspects of a country devastated by World War II. His capturing of the Japanese
peoples voice let us, as readers, empathize with those who had to start over in a new
nation. The initial terms of surrender were laid out in the Potsdam Declaration of July
26, 1945, in which the United States, Great Britain, and China all participated. But
unlike post World War II Germany, which was split into four quadrants among the
Allies, the occupation of Japan was solely and American endeavor. This document

Purges of militaristic, high ranking officials occurred, as was the ban on restriction of
assembly and speech. Yet, while political change happened with lightning like
swiftness, social change was much slower.
Upon arriving to the mainland of Japan, many of the American occupation were
stunned at the utter devastation that the Japanese had endured. It was a testament
to both the bravery and spirit of their armies, as well as the foolishness of their
leaders, that they were able to endure the war as long as they had. Having put most
of their economic resources to the war movement, much of the civilian population
was left in near famine. With the armies throughout the Pacific being repatriated on
a daily basis (although many wouldn t return for year) the conditions became even
worse. Despair and hunger set into the populace that was described as the kyodatsu
condition. With their colonies in Asia no longer in direct control, much of their food
supply imports were cut off. Japan had relied heavily upon the importation of rice,
sugar, and salt, but access was now severely restricted. To make matters worse, the
United States decided to take a hands off approach to rebuild the economy, a natural
decision to punish a nation that caused so much devastation to others. Malnutrition
was a leading cause of preventable death in many major cities, and the rapid rise of

Perseusshowed the epic traits of ;family, perseverance, and couragesness. These were
all very valued in ancient Greek culture. I will be; summarizing Perseus story, how
he demonstrates the values of ancient Greek society, and explaining his cultural
significance and how fate plays a big role.
King Acrisius was king of Argos. He had an amazingly beautiful daughter, but he
wished deeply for a son, so he prayed to the gods for them to give him a son.
Apollo, the god of culture and prophecy, told him that he will never have a son in
all his days and that the son of his daughter will slay him. Acrisius thinks of just
killing his daughter,Danae, to prevent his prophecy, but fears of the punishment he
will receive from the gods for this act, so he instead locks his daughter in an entirely
bronze house and guards it closely. What he did not expect is for the king of the
gods Zeus to come directly to his daughter and impregnate her. From this comes a
son named Perseus. When Acrisius learns of his daughter s offspring, he puts both
Perseus and Danae in a trunk and sets it off into the ocean. By luck or by the will
of Zeus Perseus and Danae wash up onto a small island, where a kind hearted
fisherman named Dictys takes in the two strangers. They live contently with Dictys
until Dictys brother, King Polydectes, fell in love with Danae. He decides to
construe a plot to get rid of her son,Perseus, so that he can have her. The plan he
comes is to convince Perseus to go and slay the woman beast Medusa. He thinks this
feat impossible by a mortal man, because any man who lays eyes upon her turns to

Medusa s scale. He also told him he would need equipment from the nymphs of the

28. Ariel Sharon s Burial
Ariel Sharon s funeral on January 13, 2014 highlighted the intersection of cultural and
political sensibilities in Israel. Firstly, Ariel Sharon s burial featured the differences in
funerary rituals between orthodox jews and secular jews. This raises the question of
the role of cultural conservatism in funeral rites. Another question that arises is one
of position: did Sharon s unique position as a former leader impact the burial he
received? This quickly becomes a question of status. When a politician can no longer
control their image directly through speech and action, the funeral becomes an
important component of immortalization. In Ariel Sharon s case, the cultural context

In contrast to the lion and the bulldozer , the public saw Sharon in terms of a fatal

humanization of Sharon in some ways shows the undermining of his political
influence. This projection of weakness may have been underscored by the fact that
Sharon was in a coma for several years before his death. From an outside
perspective, a compilation of reactions to Sharon s death from world leaders shows
a wide range of responses. However, whereas the letters to the editor mentioned
above showcase the personal perception of Sharon, the political leaders do not
separate the man from the politics. In this context, the legacy of Ariel Sharon is

THESIS: During the 1600 s many colonies in North America was beginning to
form. Geography such as where ports where and assessable to westward lands
helped in the shaping of these British colonies. SUPPORT/ANALYSIS: Located by
ports: All of the Southern colonies that were located by waters were the best
location for ports. These ports would bring in trading goods and would easily allow
these colonies the export there goods anywhere along the waters, especially the
major trade partner England. This helped to shape these select colonies by labeling
them as primarily trading colonies; therefore they would be making the most amount
of money amongst the colonists. Westward expansion: On the other hand there were
a select few new colonies that were located away from ports, thus allowing them
only to product agricultural goods, making money mainly from the businesses that
needed to export them. This shaped these colonies because this also allowed them to
move westward. Although these lands were filled with Indians, colonists didn t care;
this gave them more land to produce crops and to make more money. C. Multiple

31. Bel Canto Summary
The title of the book that I read was Bel Canto. Bel Canto was written by Ann
Patchett, and published in 2001. The setting of this work of literature is known to be
in South America; however, the country within the continent is unknown. One theme,
that can be drawn from this work is that a one of the most basic human impulses is
civilizing with other humans. Many people believe that if a group of people were in
captivity, then they would immediately resort to violence and trying to dominate each
other. However, Bel Canto suggest that, if put in that same situation, that the human
impulse would not be violence, but that our first impulse would be to civilize with
one another.

the situation objectively. In the last chapter, Messner becomes more of an important
character by giving the readers more sense of urgency, when he keeps reminding the
terrorist that a negotiation needs to happen or else their dystopian society will be
ruined. At the end, Messner was right when many of the terrorist, and Mr. Hosokawa,

32. The Role Of Technology On Agriculture, Culturally.
Role of Technology in Agriculture, Culturally.
Introduction
For the past decades, many inventions were made while some were a failure and
some were a success. Humans have developed new techniques to cope up with the
changing generations. The population has also had a severe impact on the human
culture which has indirectly led to a shortage of land. Human species who are fully
dependent on the land, especially, farmers should adopt new technology, should
develop new techniques for better farming and must act equally among the genders.
Machinery in Agriculture:
In olden days, farmers used to plow their field by outdated tools which caused less
production of crops. Agriculture is the absolute backbone of the growing
population. Not only the growing population has caused an increase in covering of
the land, but it had also increased the food demand. Everything is linked and
supported by one another views, it depends on how a person shows direct response in
this logical sense, it may not be important, and however, it should be reasonable and
consistent with the people (Smith, n. d., pp.75).
Poverty is a serious issue which the governments of undeveloped countries are
mainly concerned about. Bill Gates responded to G8 food security issue presented by
president Obama that it was wise of being allied with the government of Africa for
targeting food issue, it will also clear the global nutrition problem and cooperation

33. The Potential Influences Of Attitude And Attitude Change
Attitudes are conceptualised as stable entities or temporary constructions (Bohner and
Dickel, 2011). The following article moves on to describe in greater detail the
potential influences of attitude and attitude change with the aim of highlighting
possible reasoning behind these. Furthermore, to define a particular attitudeas a stable
entity is to suggest that one s attitude is derived from a preconceived idea or memory.
To the contrary, a temporary construction is to construct an attitude in an instant
following a particular event or stimulus. Whilst Visser and Mirabile (2004) claim that
attitudes are a stable entity, and in contrast Shwarz (2007) believes attitudes are a
temporary construction, Eagly and Chaiken (2007) take a moderate stance by
defining attitudes as a psychological tendency, expressed by evaluating a particular
entity with some degree of favour or disfavour. To further investigate attitude change,
the topic used as stimulus for this study is cannabis use. Cannabis use is
progressively developing a controversial reputation in todays society. Research has
shown that on one hand, some of the strongest evidence for marijuana s therapeutic
potential derives from treating long term illnesses such as multiple sclerosis by
providing highly reported pain relief (Kmietowicz, 2005). On the other, frequent
cannabis use predicts later depression and anxiety (Moore et al., 2007), and poses an
increased risk of psychosis and schizophrenia (Kmietowicz, 2005).

between Joan and Roger is unusual in that while Roger, a stereotypical white entitled
male in the sixties, owns the ad agency and objectifies Joan, his desire for her, and
her ability to manipulate his desire, allows her to take the power in the relationship
and remain independent.
America has had a historically dominant patriarchal system with a particular type of
man in charge: the white, heterosexual, male, who until the 60s 70s had yet to be
challenged in his birthright claim to authority and status. These men believed they
were superior to anyone who didn t have the same characteristics as they did.

Joan uses sex to maintain control over Roger, and does everything for what could be
seen as selfish reasons, but as a woman she has the right to do so. With this in mind,
the episode Babylon shows how a woman can use, societal norms to manipulate a
man into giving her what every woman in the 60s wants but could never have,
power and freedom. Roger s dialogue often has him comparing Joan to objects,
outlining his fantasies in which he has complete control of her. However, she is
presented as much more in control of how she is objectified. The affair is first
introduced with a scene in a hotel room, although it s a hotel room, we think it s a

35. Reliability of a Narrator in Literature Essay
Stories are often told by a narrator giving his/her point of view, by using omniscient,
limited omniscient, or first person. The purpose of the narrator is to give facts and
details, being reliable or not. Three stories we have read in class are The Body, by
Stephen King, Defender of the Faith, by Philip Roth, and Everyday Use, by Alice
Walker; which give examples of a reliable narrator. Each narrator was a reliable
source of information, and told his/her story well. Stephen King s. The Body, was an
excellent representation of first person point of view narration. The main protagonist,
Gordie, was not only the narrator but a major character. Gordie told the story as an

There is no need for him to embellish the truth, because each event could be altered
slightly by one of the other characters. Defender of the Faith, by Philip Roth, is a
story in which the narrator becomes involved with the main protagonist of the story.
This story is a good example of reliable narration, in that, Sergeant Marx goes through
a life altering experience. Through his learning, he shows the reader that each event
could have taken place. Marx has not acknowledged his religious differences until the
first conversation with Sheldon
Grossbart. You can stay and scrub floors or you can go to shul, this is the first
recognition of Marx s religion (Arp 118). Given that Sergeant Marx is Jewish, we
are able to pick out what is true about the religion and what is false. Marx points out
more than one situation where he is manipulated for the benefit of Private Sheldon
Grossbart.
In doing this, he is letting the reader into his personal experience, regardless of what
criticism he may receive. Everyday Use, by Alice Walker, was an extraordinary use of
first person narration. At first, I had no idea where this story was going to take the
reader. The narrator was passionate of her convictions about her eldest daughter. The
narrator felt more bonded with the younger daughter, because she was willing to stay
behind in the unchanging environment. The narrator showed disappointment when the
36. The Systems Of Distribution And Distribution
Two systems of distribution will be adopted. The systems of distribution include
direct distribution and indirect distribution system. Indirect distribution system will
be characterized by the employment of third parties in the distribution of the
products. Therefore, in indirect distribution channels, the business will utilize third
parties, often referred to as an intermediary, to offer a link between the manufacturer
and consumers. On the other hand, in direct distribution, only two parties will be
involved the manufacturer and the consumer. In the latter system, direct distribution
channel will be organized in such a way that the manufacturer will deliver the
products (plantain chips) to the market directly without assistance of another
independent party such as a distribution company or the intermediary. The decision
on whether to employ a direct or indirect distribution channel will depend on the
accessibility and distance from the processing zones.
In particular, the business will utilize indirect distribution channels in areas that are
costly in terms of accessibility, and adopt direct distribution in areas whose
accessibility is cost effective. For instance, the distribution strategies will be
distinctive for urban and rural segments in collaboration with contract partners. It is
noteworthy that plantain chips will be distributed directly in the urban regions and
indirectly in rural areas. Additionally, in the situation that the accessibility is adversely

38. Fundamentals Of Juvenile Delinquency
This assignment will illustrate that by understanding the fundamentals of combatting
juvenile delinquency and applying the theories to command practice will enhance the
overall knowledge of the material. This document will demonstrate the juvenile
delinquency reduction efforts and programs currently in operation in the Tampa area
community. In addition, I will propose ways to improve the Tampa area community s
juvenile delinquencyprevention efforts. Next, this paper will attempt to apply the
main sociological theories that underlie these interventions that shape the community
s public policy for delinquency prevention. Finally, this paper will identify an
appropriate strategy geared toward preventing delinquency that in consistent with the
Behavioral theory.
When a juvenile commits an act that would be criminal if committed by an adult, the
juvenile is determined to be delinquent. Delinquent acts may include crimes against
persons, crimes against property, drug offenses, and crimes against public order.
Delinquency prevention efforts seek to redirect youth who are considered at risk for
delinquency or who have committed a delinquent offense from deeper involvement in
the juvenile justice system (Deling, 2014).
Characteristically, juvenile delinquency follows a similar path just like normal
adolescent development and children tend to follow delinquent and criminal behavior
rather than engaging in it randomly. Research has shown that there are two types of
delinquents, those in whom the onset of severe antisocial behavior begins in early
childhood, and those in whom this onset coincides with entry into adolescence. With
either type, these developmental paths give families, communities, and systems the
opportunity to intervene and prevent the onset of antisocial behaviors and justice
system involvement (APA, 2017).
Many people try to point the finger to way children become delinquent, blaming
their parents, their poverty, their friends and/or the system; sometime things are not
that simple. Some rich children who have it all still make the same poor choices and
end up on the wrong side of the law. Most poor children who have nothing, still grow
up good and do wonderful things. Many families have that one

40. My Application For South Africa
My Application for South Africa 2016 The first time I was introduced to South Africa
was last year during choir. For choir we sang a South African ritual. This enticed me
to look into the culture of South Africa to find out more things about my new found
interest. During this investigation I found out that South Africais prominent for their
unique wild life, it is the only country which has hosted the world cup for cricket,
rugby, and soccer, the vast history due to the colonialization of Africaby Europe, and
the luxurious bodies of water found in South Africa. Also during my research, I
found out that Woodberry offers an exchange program in South Africa. I became
extremely interested in this program. I would love to do this program so... Show more

These include Nelson Mandela s house, Robben Island, Groot Constantia, The
Company s Garden, and the Bartholomeu Dias Museum Complex. These places
entice me due to the fact that history is one of my favorite subjects.
Another major part of South Africa is the sports seen there. South Africa s main
sports are rugby, cricket, and soccer. I am a huge sports fanatic, however I am not
as interested in South African sports as I would like to be. South Africa has such a
dedication to its sports that it is the only country which has hosted the world cup in
rugby, soccer, and cricket. South Africa hosted the rugby world cupin 1995, the
cricket world cup in 2003, and the soccer world cup in 2010. I would love to see
the locations of where these important games were played, which brings me to my
next point, South Africa s unique sights. South Africa is also known for its
breathtaking sights which include the Kruger National Park, Table Mountain, Blyde
River Canyon, and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve just to name a few. At
these sights you can either see the unique animals of South Africa in their natural
habitat, or look over all of South Africa from the mountain and the canyon. The
culture of South Africa is one of the major reasons why I would love to be able to
participate in this unique opportunity. I also think I would be the right choice for this
program due to the person that I am. If I am chosen St Johns would be

Ceviche
The ceviche is typically made of raw fish or shrimp. It is marinated in citrus juice,
like lime or lemon and it is spiced with chili peppers. It is also common to see this
dish spiced with chopped onions, salt or coriander. Because the dish is not cooked it
has to be prepared fresh in order to diminish the chance of danger of food poisoning.
Originally from Peru this dish date back about 2000 years! This seafood dish is
generally severed for either a main dish or appetizer. Ceviche can be served in many
different variations such as with salted cracker or as a taco filling.
Mexican Cultural Celebrations
Dia de Los Santos Reyes (Day of the Holy Kings) is January 6th. It celebrates the
remembrance three wise kings. It is viewed as the last day of Christmas (the end of
the 12 days of Christmas). In addition to Christmas the children receive gifts from the
three wise men. In some cultures in Mexico the children will put hay in there shoes,
in hope that the three kings will come and visit on their camels to give something
like toys or candy. The streets of major cities are full of gifts, food and outdoor

42. Comparing Livy And Aeneas And The Ancient World
There are really only two ways that history can withstand the test of time; that is for
stories to be passed down to each generation by speech, or for those stories to be
written so they can be cemented in history for eternity. Much to all of what is
known about Rome and the ancient world has been traveled down by great works
of art and literature. More importantly, the feelings towards each one of these
cultures is essentially a direct product of what is read. This only stresses the
importance of Livy and Aeneas literary works about the pre history of Rome. Both
Livy and Aeneas constructed masterworks of literature that would be read by man
for over two millennia. What these two authors composed would shape and
construct what it truly meant to be Roman, not only to those living during the era,
but to those living in the far future as well. The straight facts about past kings by
Livy, and the telling tale of an epic hero named Aeneas by Virgil both portrayed the
importance of pietas and military fortitude. On the one hand, there is pietas; now
seen as one of the highest virtues of ancient Romans, a value that signifies respect
and duty to the gods, family, and country above thyself. While military fortitude, or
the act of being courageous in spite of the pain or harm that may ensue, was another
theme that Livy and Virgil both interacted with that would change how Romans are
viewed forever. These two authors would come to write works of art that are in two

43. In Defense of Liberty and Individuality Essay
In Defense of Liberty and Individuality
It is a little known fact that for the past century, every American president has been
given a copy of John Stuart Mill s On Liberty[1] upon entering office. Since its
publication in 1859, On Liberty s discussions of liberty and individuality have been a
foundation for modern Western political thought and for the liberal democracy. Mill
brings to light a unique perspective on the relationship between liberty and
individuality, and in the end, on tolerance. According to Mill, individual liberty
should be limited by one, and only one thing: the self preservation of society and
other individuals. To that end, man should be free to act and even more so to think in
any form he wishes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aim, therefore, of patriots, was to set limits to the power which the ruler
should be suffered to exercise over the community; and this limitation was what
they meant by liberty (On Liberty, 4). These reforms were leading to the
democratization of culture and government the transition that Mill sees around him
putting power in the hands of the people. This was supposed to remove the
possibility of tyranny, but Mill is not convinced. He sees two types of tyranny
unaccounted for: tyranny of the majority, where the many persecute the few, and
tyranny of public opinion, in which society seeks to impose a set of values on
everyone. [T]he tyranny of the majority is now generally included among the evils
against which society requires to be on guard (On Liberty, 6). Mill sees the need for
laws to protect against both types of tyranny.
After noting that many nations have tried and failed at this feat, he offers his own
solution. Society or an individual may interfere with individual rights if and only if
it is necessary to protect itself. [T]he sole end for which mankind are warranted,
individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their
members, is self protection...[h]is own good, either physical or moral, is not a
sufficient warrant (On Liberty, 11). Mill uses a Hobbesian notion of self preservation
as the cornerstone of his

45. Burnout Or Compassion Fatigue
Vicarious trauma is also known as compassion fatigue and is often associated with the
cost of caring for others (Figley, 1982). Other terms used to describe this phenomenon
are secondary trauma, stress or secondary victimization (figley, 1982). At the heart of
this issue, is that social workers, therapists, first responders, volunteers, that work
with trauma victims/survivors can experience vicarious trauma, or compassion fatigue
because of the work they do, and love. Compassion fatigue is the emotional residue
from the exposure of hearing trauma stories over and over until your heart and head
is full until the caller/client s trauma becomes your experience too. You cannot hear
story after story and remain unaffected. As your callers/clients experience a daily
repetition of trauma, so will you .Being a witness to pain, loss, fear, terror or

The day comes and you think you cannot hear one more story of trauma. This is
not a sign of burnout but of compassion fatigue. It s a signal to you that it is time to
step back and do self care. Burnout and compassion fatigue are often confused as
the same thing. The difference between them is that burnout builds up gradually
over time and resolves itself when the volunteer or practitioner takes a break or goes
to other work, even in the same field. Vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue is a
state of tension, stress and preoccupation with the stories and traumatic experiences
described and endured by callers/clients. Triggering your own potential traumas or
experiences and looping back and forth between your callers/clients stories and your
own until there is no objective place to witness

Angeles Police Department. In this film, veteran officer Alonzo Harris trains Jake
Hoyt a young rookie that is on his first training dayfor potentially joining the narcotics
unit. Throughout the film, Harris tests Hoyt by telling him to perform acts of
misconduct that breach the department s policy. Hoyt is a young officer who is fresh

When one endures negative confrontations with the police, it is quite difficult to
get rid of the belief that police officers are corrupt. One negative experience often
tampers one s judgement. This is seen as a detrimental factor when trying to
reconstruct pro social relationships with the police. On September 20, 2017,
probation officer Oscar Calderon from L.A. county was found guilty for assaulting
female minors in juvenile hall. Calderon was arrested in January and charged with
four counts of assault under color of authority and two counts of lewd and
lascivious acts with a child. Prosecutors said that the victims ranged in age from 15
to 18 and that the abuse began in 2014 (Queally, 2017). Calderon held a supervisory
position in the department using it to his own convenience to get the females to
comply to having sex with him. It was noted that other supervisors at Camp Scudder
ignored the accusations from the young females, allowing the abuse to continue. The
results of this case concluded in a pending lawsuit against the county for the
probation staff that were informed by the victims of the assault yet remained silent
allowing the abuse to continue. Calderon was dismissed from the county and is no

48. To Be a Good Leader Essay
Not all leaders are famous like Martin Luther King, most leaders are ordinary
people; you can walk down the street and run into someone and not know that they
are a very powerful leader. I personally know of a good leader that is an ordinary
person; my father. Although some people believe that leaders are born and not
made, I believe that anyone can become a leader if they have enough courage and
are thick skinned. There are many words that people come up with when they are
asked to describe what makes a good leader. The most popular characteristics used to
describe a good leader would be a good listener, responsible, and decisive. When you
think of what makes a good leader you should also ask what kind of education they

Many believe listening skills are a necessity to being successful. It s said that god
gave us two ears so we can listen twice as much as we talk, and leaders should
follow this saying so they do not miss any important information (Rai).
Communication would fall under the good listener category of being a leader.
Communication is a key component to being a good listener because if you don t
communicate to whomever you are speaking with then some things might get lost
in the process. The leader of a team will have to listen to their boss then relay the
message to his or her team, and that s where paraphrasing takes a good part in
communication and listening skills. A good leader is always communicating with
other leaders and trying to find out other good ideas they can use to improve some
of their techniques. To become a good leader, the person must be responsible,
because no one wants an unreliable leader. The way a leader is responsible is by
always being prepared and organized with all of the information needed on a
moments notice for what is supposed to happen and also what might happen (Rich).
The leader should be able to take notes on the directions that their boss told them and
do the task without having to ask more questions; instead they would use their notes.
It is the leaders responsibility to make sure that their team is on track with their
project and that it is completed by its dead line
49. Donnie Darko vs. Oedipus Rex Essay
Greek tragedies were often seen as the foundation to literature not only for the
Greeks but also on a universal scale as well. Sophocles Oedipus Rex was one of the
more infamous tales because of its provocative and unorthodox nature. The tragedy
features a man on a quest to prevent the events of his prophesized life from coming to
fruition. The key components of fate, destiny and timecan be paralleled to the cult
classic film Donnie Darko. In the movie, Donnie suffers from predictions of the
future in his own variation of time travel, as a repercussion he has been chosen to
rectify the past in order to preserve what is to come.

Donnie has to suffer the knowledge that his death would be the only way to
prevent the cataclysmic incidents like that of Ashton Kutcher s character Evan
Treborn in The Butterfly Effect. He too understood his role in life was apocalyptic
as soon as he was conceived. When Donnie ran into Grandma Death she whispered
to him that All things die alone, ( Donnie Darko ) it can be seen just how tragic
and miserable his life was going to be. After assessing the whole film, it can be
realized that she was right because Donnie inevitably died by himself without ever
having met Gretchen and without resolving his fight with his mother. Another
event can be one of the first encounters with Frank in which ended with 28 days, 6
hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds ( Donnie Darko ) being etched into his arm. He had
his very own expiration date and end of the world timeframe given to him. The very
thought of knowing one s own time of death is absolutely frightening and panic
inducing. One of the deleted scenes off of the DVD provided more insight into
Donnie s mind and his acceptance of death: A storm is coming, Frank says.
A storm that will swallow the children, and I will deliver them from the kingdom of
pain.
I will deliver the children back to their doorsteps;
I ll send the monsters back to the underground.
I ll send them back to a place where no one else can see them, except for me because

Albert William Clark was roughly born in September, 1983 at Devonshire,
England. Clark s occupation prior to enlistment was a sleeper hewer. Despite the
fact that Clark was born in England, he enlisted on the 11th March 1915 at the age
of 31 years 6 months in Mumballup, WA. Clark was of fair complexion and stood
at approximately 170 centimetres in height. He could be easily distinguished by
the scar located on his forehead. Throughout WWI, most soldiers had hidden
reasons for joining the army. Clark s previous job was a sleeper hewer which

51. Article Review Response To Intervention
Article Review Two Response to intervention (RTI) is a multi tier methodology to
early identify and support students with learning and behavior needs. Research
states, that educators are able to close the academic gap of a student with a disability
the earlier that the child is diagnosed. Since, they are able to get the extra help as
early as possible. Overtime identifying students with learningdisabilities has become
very confusing. However, research has made it easier for educators to distinguish
these students and reduce the misunderstanding concerns. This is great news because
as stated before the earlier teachers can identify these students; the earlier the child s
can get assistance. But, are these assessments properly diagnosing our Culturally,

The first lines of Rise Up by Andra Day say You re broken down and tired, of livin
life on the merry go round . These first couple of lines drew my attention because at
the moment, I feel like I m living the same thing over and over again. It s the same
thing every day. Go to school, get good grades, go to the studio, do homework until
midnight, get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, then wake up and do everything over again. The
next couple of lines say And you can t find the fighter, but I see it in you so we re
gonna walk it out and move mountains. These words made me think about
everything differently. This year I ve been under a lot of stress pertaining to grades,
SATs, scholarships, and applications. Sometimes I don t know how I m going to fit
everything in. There s just not enough time in a day. I realized that over time, once I
get everything done, I will be going to college and then maybe change the world
afterwards.
