Measuring What Matters in Your Agile TransformationBrad Swanson
So you’ve decided to “go Agile”. Why? How can you clearly articulate the business goals of your agile transformation, and how can you effectively measure your progress and success?
We will show how to use the Agile Strategy Map™ to define your Agile transformation strategy, and give real-world examples of strategies used successfully by many organizations. Participants will get practice using the Strategy Map and identifying some metrics that matter.
Before starting the journey to becoming an agile organization, it’s critical to define your business objectives: quality, time to market, productivity, customer satisfaction, innovation, employee engagement, or whatever challenges you need to address. To make those goals real, they need to be measurable. Because the journey may be long, you need both leading indicators to know if you’re going in the right direction, and lagging indicators to tell if your goals have been met.

Building a Data Driven Culture and AI Revolution With Gregory Little | Curren...HostedbyConfluent
Building a Data Driven Culture and AI Revolution With Gregory Little | Current 2022
Transforming business or mission through AI/ML doesn't start with technology but with culture…and an audit. At least as much is true for the US Department of Defense (DoD), which presents significant modernization challenges because of its mission scope, expansive global footprint, and massive size - with over 2.8 million people, it is the largest employer in the world. Greg Little discusses how establishing the DoD’s annual audit became a surprising accelerator for the department’s data and analytics journey. It revealed the foundational needs for data management to run a $3 trillion in assets enterprise, and its successful implementation required breaking through deeply entrenched cultural and organizational resistance across DoD.
In this session, Greg will discuss what it will take to guide the evolution of technology and culture in parallel: leadership, technology that enables rapid scale and a complete & reliable data flow, and a data driven culture.
The current definition of Business Agility is as nebulous as DevOps was only a few years ago. Some schools of thought focus on different parts of the business employing agile techniques. While an important step, it proves insufficient to allow the overall business to achieve true agility.
In this session, we will explore the emerging thinking on what is Business Agility and provide concrete examples of organizations who have taken steps to successfully achieve it.
Learning Objectives:
*Define Enterprise Business Agility in a holistic fashion
*Articulate real-world examples of Business Agility
*Begin to implement aspects of Business Agility within your organization

Databricks is a Software-as-a-Service-like experience (or Spark-as-a-service) that is a tool for curating and processing massive amounts of data and developing, training and deploying models on that data, and managing the whole workflow process throughout the project. It is for those who are comfortable with Apache Spark as it is 100% based on Spark and is extensible with support for Scala, Java, R, and Python alongside Spark SQL, GraphX, Streaming and Machine Learning Library (Mllib). It has built-in integration with many data sources, has a workflow scheduler, allows for real-time workspace collaboration, and has performance improvements over traditional Apache Spark.
Big data architectures and the data lakeJames Serra
With so many new technologies it can get confusing on the best approach to building a big data architecture. The data lake is a great new concept, usually built in Hadoop, but what exactly is it and how does it fit in? In this presentation I'll discuss the four most common patterns in big data production implementations, the top-down vs bottoms-up approach to analytics, and how you can use a data lake and a RDBMS data warehouse together. We will go into detail on the characteristics of a data lake and its benefits, and how you still need to perform the same data governance tasks in a data lake as you do in a data warehouse. Come to this presentation to make sure your data lake does not turn into a data swamp!

Predictive Analytics: Context and Use Cases
Historical context for successful implementation of predictive analytic techniques and examples of implementation of successful use cases.
This webinar will focus on the technical and practical aspects of creating and deploying predictive analytics. We have seen an emerging need for predictive analytics across clinical, operational, and financial domains. One pitfall we’ve seen with predictive analytics is that while many people with access to free tools can develop predictive models, many organizations fail to provide a sufficient infrastructure in which the models are deployed in a consistent, reliable way and truly embedded into the analytics environment. We will survey techniques that are used to get better predictions at scale. This webinar won’t be an intense mathematical treatment of the latest predictive algorithms, but will rather be a guide for organizations that want to embed predictive analytics into their technical and operational workflows.
Topics will include:
Reducing the time it takes to develop a model
Automating model training and retraining
Feature engineering
Deploying the model in the analytics environment
Deploying the model in the clinical environment

Embracing Containers and Microservices for Future Proof Application Moderniza...Marlabs
The need for application modernization: Legacy applications are typically based on a monolithic design, which is organized in a three-tier architecture that covers a front, middle, and end layer. These monolithic designs reduce flexibility and agility due to the way it is compressed and leads to challenges in scaling as per business requirement. This challenge has resulted in modernizing these legacy applications using Containers and Microservices. Credit: Marlabs
The Dark Web consists of World Wide Web content existing on darknets, which are overlay networks that use the Internet, but require specific software, configurations, or authorization to access. The Dark Web forms a small part of the Deep Web - the part of the web not indexed by search engines - although sometimes the term, Deep Web, is mistakenly used to refer specifically to the Dark Web. Cyber Threat Intelligence is a process in which information from different sources is collected, then analyzed to identify and detect threats against any environment. The information collected could be evidence-based knowledge that could support the context, mechanism, indicators, or implications about an already existing threat against an environment, and/or the knowledge about an upcoming threat that could potentially affect the environment. Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.
Why React Native as a Strategic Advantage for Startup Innovation.pdfayushiqss
Do you know that React Native is being increasingly adopted by startups as well as big companies in the mobile app development industry? Big names like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have already integrated this robust open-source framework.
In fact, according to a report by Statista, the number of React Native developers has been steadily increasing over the years, reaching an estimated 1.9 million by the end of 2024. This means that the demand for this framework in the job market has been growing making it a valuable skill.
But what makes React Native so popular for mobile application development? It offers excellent cross-platform capabilities among other benefits. This way, with React Native, developers can write code once and run it on both iOS and Android devices thus saving time and resources leading to shorter development cycles hence faster time-to-market for your app.
Let’s take the example of a startup, which wanted to release their app on both iOS and Android at once. Through the use of React Native they managed to create an app and bring it into the market within a very short period. This helped them gain an advantage over their competitors because they had access to a large user base who were able to generate revenue quickly for them.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.

18. Client Leading insurance group (the state's largest writer of Workers' Compensation and Personal Auto Insurance)
Need Implementing Guidewire (PolicyCenter & BillingCenter) as part of 5 year initiative.
Marlabs Solution Analyzed current data model and identified custom changes to the model based on user requirements.
Analyzed the current user interface and enhanced it to meet business needs.
Designed and developed the interface to integrate BillingCenter and PolicyCenter as well as BillingCenter
to other applications.
Created user stories for each of the business requirements
Built/extended the design to accommodate changes to the base system
Identified individual components of the user story and broke it down into child stories
Designed entity models to represent the business components
Designed and implemented business rules for various business entities. Example: Account, Policy etc.
Implemented plug-ins provided in the base system based on the business requirement
Designed and developed workflow process to initiate time-bound actions
Developed unit test cases along with the development of each use case
Validated functional implementation of each feature against requirements specified for that feature as
well as to validate the entire system for the end-to-end process.
Thoroughly verified correctness of configuration and tested all interfaces for proper data communication
and processing
Performed functional testing of reports and document management
Completed Workers’ Comp and started Personal Auto. Worked closely with Guidewire. Integrated
Guidewire with in-house rating, customer web interface for quotes and policies, and with Peoplesoft for
AP and AR. Policies maintained in the mainframe legacy system for some time.
Conducted daily discussions/scrum meetings to track daily developments and identify and resolve any
road blocks.
Benefits Successfully rolled out different LOB’s into new platform.

19. Client Group of property and casualty insurance companies
Need Implement new HP Exstream applications by converting old and existing documents that are currently
generated through Documerg or other legacy applications.
Marlabs Solution Conducted requirements analysis phase to understand and gather information from all different types
of focus groups and users. Analyzed existing workflows and tasks performed by users to design
interactive documents for effective usability.
Created standards and consolidated specifications document templates based on the most common
scenarios to reduce processing time and generate documents faster.
Created workflows for implementing new Exstream applications.
Converted raw data into usable XML files and schema. These XML files are then consumed by HP
Exstream to generate different types of documents like PDF, TIFF, Postscript and live(DLF)
Created new live interactive documents to replace the current Letter system using HP Exstream design
and production 8.0, HP Exstream Live 3.0. These live documents are capable of taking user input and
upon submission delivering the documents to multiple output channels like Imaging/Archival,
Production printers, Local print (if user needs to print locally), hand off documents to be attached to
email and hand off information for creation of task flows and automated follow-ups.
This new system is a web application that allows the user to select any type of document, generate it and
work on it and submit it for processing to multiple output channels. This is a one to one real time
document processing.
Benefits Created applications that are easy to maintain and troubleshoot for the application owners team who
oversee the maintenance after implementation.
Duly trained application owner team developers who will be supporting the applications after
implementation.
Multiple document outputs - System generates document output types like PDF, TIFF, Postscript &
DLF(Live document).

20. Client A global specialty provider of insurance and reinsurance
Need Client had an existing data warehouse and associated BI and reporting system across multiple LOBs
(Lines of Business)/ products and wanted help with enhancing existing reports, creation of new complex
reports.
The primary goal of this project was to provide the underwriting business with improved operational
reports that have been standardized as much as possible across all Professional Liability Lines of
Business
Marlabs Solution Marlabs provided project development and support services for the entire Data Warehouse
lifecycle i.e. Requirement Analysis, Design, Development, Unit Testing, QA Support and UAT
Support for the below business line reports.
1. Business Bound Reports – to capture bound policies details
2. Hit Ratio Reports – to capture the hit ratio w.r.t submissions, quotes, declines as well as aggregated
GWS.
3. Pipeline Reports – to capture In-Progress and renewal accounts
4. Policy Issuance Reports – to track all date related fields for bound policies
5. Administrative Reports – to help managers to check outstanding issues on bound accounts
6. Renewal Analysis Reports – to capture the rate at which the business is able to retain expired policies
7. Prospect Reports – to provide details of any prospective client
Benefits Standardized reporting has raised efficiency of reporting across all Master Lines of Business as well as in
aggregating reporting required for upstream Management Information Systems.

21. Client A global specialty provider of insurance and reinsurance
Need Client had an existing data warehouse and associated BI and reporting system across multiple LOB
(Lines of Business)/ products and wanted help with enhancing existing reports, creation of new complex
reports.
The primary goal of this project was to improve the Cube processing performance.
Marlabs Solution Marlabs supported the client in improving cube processing performance. The existing cube took around
10.5 hours to process . Consequently reports were being refreshed on a monthly basis whereas the
business would have liked to have them on a daily basis. After performing optimization exercises the cube
build time was reduced to 2-3 hours i.e. an improvement of more than 300%.
Cube partitions on measures/facts: Partitions on measures help efficiently process fact data and
aggregations using multiple threads. By partitioning cube measures on the time and data source
processing time was reduced.
Physical dimension tables: The existing cube structure was designed to process dimensions from a
database view; with approximately 100 million records in the view. Cube dimension processing took
approximately 5 hours 30mins. With physical preprocessed dimension tables (an ETL package to
process the physical dimension) it took approx. 60 minutes.
Usage based optimization: Usage based optimization helped to build aggregations on partitions based
on the history of queries sent to cubes.
Incremental processing: Processing only the most recent partition. Daily processing of the
current/recent partitions and monthly processing of history partitions.
Benefits Faster and improved decision-making.
Technology
Platform
