This document discusses tools used to increase active learning in large introductory psychology lecture courses. It describes using an audience response system to pose "Concept Check" questions during lectures and online discussion boards to answer posted questions outside of class. The goal is to promote active learning, grasp of key concepts, and critical thinking. Student feedback showed the Concept Check questions and PowerPoint lectures were most helpful, while discussion boards and course content varied. The instructor plans to expand Concept Check questions and improve discussion board quality and role explanations.
