What are good manners?
Having good manners is all about respecting others
and yourself.
Good manners is about considering the feelings of
other people, and being the kind of person that
others will like and respect.
Golden Rule - "Always do to others as you would
wish them to do to you if you were in their place.“
This is still a good way to behave nowadays. If
you are respectful to others, then you are more likely
to be treated with respect by them.
What are bad manners
• Impoliteness resulting from ignorance.
Why Bad manners?
• It has become a very me-centric world.
Everyone seems wrapped up in their own
melodrama and their own gadgets which
perpetuate the idea that the world really does
revolve around the individual.
• Hence nobody cares about anybody.
Some Tips:
For kids between 0 – 09, a star can be given to them
each day for the display of good etiquettes and at the
end of the month a small toy should be given to
him/her. This encourages them to behave
appropriately.
For children above 9, they should be treated strictly
at the display of bad manners. Firstly they should be
counseled and warned and if they repeat it strict
actions should be taken against them like no
watching television for a week or no games for a week
What good manners look like when you
are at home
* being helpful to others in your home
* saying 'please' and 'thank you‘ – being polite
* sharing and not grabbing and keeping good things
to yourself
* respecting other people's property and their rooms
* helping the family by doing your chores
* cleaning up after yourself.
 Make Pleasant Conversation
 Dialogue in a family home is often full of anger and frustration.
After all, the bad habits of others can be annoying, particularly if
you have to put up with them day after day. When strangers do
the very same thing, it's easy to overlook their actions because
we're not exposed to them as frequently. But don't forget that it
works both ways. Our angry words can grate on the other
people's nerves as well.
 When you make a mistake, don't let too much time go by
before apologizing. Afterward, make a concerted effort to be nice
and not do whatever you needed to apologize for.
Manners at school
* saying good morning/afternoon if you are
walking past an adult that you know ,
* asking if you can borrow something, not just
taking,
* returning things that you have borrowed,
* waiting your turn before you speak,
* saying 'excuse me,' rather than pushing past
someone,
* holding the door open for the person coming
in, especially if he is carrying something,
* respecting your own and other people's
property, especially school property,
* saying 'please' and 'thank you'.
 It determines what kind of a person you are.
 It shows how you should be treated by others.
 Bad manners hold you back in life be it a
interview or a exam hall.
 It shows courtesy to others.
Treating others the way you would like to be
treated is the easiest rule to follow and
encourages others to treat you in kind. Even the
most polite people in the world can occasionally
say the wrong thing or make mistakes, but being
kind, considerate, and generous on a daily basis
shows true manners. We can't police ourselves
all the time, but before you say or do something,
ask yourself how you would feel if others said or
did that to you. The more you practice this rule,
the more natural and easier it becomes. Set
yourself as an example.
 We would like to express our special thanks of
gratitude to our teacher, Miss Latika Mehra who
gave us the golden opportunity to do this wonderful
project on the topic Manners in Children which has
helped us also to learn about many good manners.
Secondly we would like to thank Google and the
Almighty for helping us complete project within the
limited time frame. It wouldn’t have been possible
without them.
