1. The highest level of the information systems pyramid.
2. Summarizes management information for use in
strategic planning and policy-making.
3. They provide users with the tools, such as:
• total variable cost analysis and price, expenditure
comparison analysis,
• to perform periodic queries on data at every
information system level, either to investigate the
causes of problems or to perform “what-if” analysis
to test the impact of changes in strategy.

1. Provide summaries of operational data on a
periodic basis to help managers of specific
departments monitor the performance of
their units.
2. Annual reports often summarize information
on key indicators from many different
