Social software adapts to its environment rather than requiring the environment to adapt to it. Complexity arises from social networks, not software. Only simple rules are needed to yield emergence. Sharing control over information and decisions can lead to more productive processes and better outcomes, especially for social goods. For business processes, considering making them more transparent and participatory, including those outside the company, as the best experts may not be employees. To benefit from openness and sharing control, transparency is needed.
