In this presentation, Joobi discusses the basics of Internet of Things and goes on to say that in the next five years we might very well be interacting with things that operate in smart spaces and have virtual personalities.

Internet of Things
1. Internet of
Things (IoT)

2. Introduction
The Internet of Things, also called The Internet
of Objects, refers to a wireless network
between objects, usually the network will be
wireless and self-configuring, such as
household appliances.
Also refers to the concept that the Internet is
no longer a global network just for
communication but also a platform for
devices to communicate electronically with
the world around them.
3. So far we had any time, any place, connectivity for anyone and now with IoT
we will have connectivity for anything.
Applications of IoT include
-Transportation
-Intelligent home
-Healthcare etc.
We should have Internet of things for :
-Dynamic control of industry and daily life
-Improves resource utilization
-Act as technology integrators etc.
Art of IoT :
Identifies and track the data of things.
Collects and processes the data to detect the changes in the physical status
of things.
Enhances the power of the network by devolving processing capabilities to
different part of the network
Makes smaller and smaller things have the ability to connect and interact.
4. Trends
From Hype to Reality
IoT had become reality with ubiquity of
connectivity and proliferation of devices and
wearable computing.
Wireless sensors and devices are getting
smaller smarter and cheaper, producing
billions of data points.
Machine to Machine(M2M) communication
i.e., devices talking to each other.
5. IoT Apps : New apps required to integrate sensor
based data into business application.
Big Data to get Bigger : The sensors, chips ,computers
would produce even more data than now we have.
IoT Analytics : Advanced analytics and dashboards
will be needed to provide insights from all ‘things’.
IPv6 required : IoT will not fully become a realityuntil
the ‘things’ have full access to IPv6.
In the next five years , things will be having identities
and virtual personalities operating in smart spaces
using intelligent interfaces to connect and
communicate within social, environmental, and user
contexts.
6. Interest Areas
Building, Home Automation, Healthcare
and Automotive are the areas under IoT
that I am interested.
I would like to take the opportunity learn
basics in each areas specified and try to
build from there as a team altogether
and I wish to participate in live projects so
that I am into the practical IT world and
services.
