Virtualization, briefly, is the separation of resources or requests for a service from the underlying physical delivery of that service. It is a concept in which access to a single underlying piece of hardware is coordinated so that multiple guest operating systems can share a single piece of hardware, with no guest operating system being aware that it is actually sharing anything at all.
Ceph is an open source distributed storage system that is highly scalable, self-managing, and provides multiple access methods including block, file, and object storage. It uses CRUSH to intelligently distribute data and replicas across clusters. Ceph Storage Clusters contain OSD, MON, and optionally MDS daemons. OSDs store data objects, MONs maintain cluster maps and state, and MDS provides metadata for CephFS. Ceph can be deployed with CloudStack to provide the backend storage for virtual machine volumes.

We describe various replication topologies and recovery strategies using MirrorMaker 2.0 and associated tooling.

VLANs logically segment LANs into broadcast domains by using switches to assign ports and their attached devices to VLAN groups based on their MAC address, IP subnet, or switch port. Nexus 5548 switches provide a scalable single layer data center design for midsize organizations. The switches support virtual port channels (vPC), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), unified ports, and Nexus 2000 fabric extensions (FEX) to aggregate servers. This design balances cost and performance using a dedicated pair of Nexus 5548 switches for the data center core, with capabilities to transition to larger dual-tier designs.
A LAN, or local area network, connects computers and devices in a limited geographic area such as a home, school, office building, or group of buildings. Key characteristics of a LAN include:
- Covers a small physical area, such as a building or group of buildings. Distances are typically less than 2 kilometers.

It is well known that software defined networking and network function virtualization are key to the future of carriers. What may not be well known is the contentious debate among the industry leaders on approaches to these. In this talk, both sides of these arguments will be presented followed by an extension to the NFV idea that should be of interest to carriers.
The second part of the talk describes our current research in the area of service chaining of globally distributed VNFs. In this presentation we describe OpenADN (Open Application Delivery Network) which allows multiple providers to chain both application-level and network-level services via VNFs distributed globally on several private/public clouds. This is similar to the "Cloud of Clouds" idea currently developing in the industry. There is immense opportunity for carriers to play the key role in this space.

Users need to restructure their network and support container deployment with current cloud framework, like container and VMs.
In this presentation, we will introduce new container networking solution, which provides one management framework to work with different network componenets through Open/friendly modelling mechnism. iCAN can simplify network deployment and management with most orchestration systems and a variety of data plane components, and design extendsible architect to define and validate Service Level Agreement(SLA) for cloud native applications, which is important factor for enterprise to deliver successful and stable service via containers.
