This document provides an introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT). It defines IoT as connecting everyday objects like refrigerators, cars, and home appliances to the Internet. Currently only 1% of objects are connected, but that number is expected to grow to 50 billion connected devices by 2020. The document discusses the importance of IoT and provides examples of applications like smart grids, healthcare devices, and industrial control systems. It also summarizes several protocols that enable IoT communication over power lines and wireless networks.

becoming crucial components of a valuable Internet of Things (IoT).
The variety of wireless sensor system applications demands appropriate wireless connectivity.
Several new technologies and standards are popping up, fit for short or large range, and various data
rate requirements. Dedicated networks are being deployed for Machine Type Communication.
This tutorial will bring a theoretical and practical initiation of wireless technologies tailored for connecting
embedded sensors. It will explain fundamental concepts of wireless propagation, highlighting the
challenges and opportunities to realize low power connections. Several actual technologies and
standards for different categories of connections will be introduced. A few illustrative use cases will be
presented. A hands-on session will allow the participants to experiment with EFM32 Happy Gecko
developer boards, cooperating in small teams. In a final session, a glance at future trends will be
given. The tutorial will be concluded with an overview of interesting relevant resources and a discussion
with the participants on the expectations for follow up beyond the tutorial.

One of the top candidates to help in securing IoT is Quantum Computing, while the idea of convergence of IoT and Quantum Computing is not a new topic, it was discussed in many works of literature and covered by various researchers, but nothing is close to practical applications so far.
Quantum Computing is not ready yet, it is years away from deployment on a commercial scale.
Learning objective: The goal of this signature seminar is to examine the current trends that are driving the rapid growth in the use of Embedded Systems; what employers and solutions providers are looking for in talent, and how Aerotek and EASi can help to connect buyers and sellers in this vast marketplace.

It is well known that software defined networking and network function virtualization are key to the future of carriers. What may not be well known is the contentious debate among the industry leaders on approaches to these. In this talk, both sides of these arguments will be presented followed by an extension to the NFV idea that should be of interest to carriers.
The second part of the talk describes our current research in the area of service chaining of globally distributed VNFs. In this presentation we describe OpenADN (Open Application Delivery Network) which allows multiple providers to chain both application-level and network-level services via VNFs distributed globally on several private/public clouds. This is similar to the "Cloud of Clouds" idea currently developing in the industry. There is immense opportunity for carriers to play the key role in this space.

From our perspective, this story is not just about people communicating with people or machines communicating with machines. Smart, connected systems are a technological and economic phenomenon of unprecedented scale, encompassing potentially billions if not trillions of nodes -- an Internet of infinite interactions and values...
In a power distribution system of most of the buildings, A Low Voltage (L.V.) switchboard was applied to protect the system. There are different components in the switchboard (e.g. circuit breakers, over current protection relay, earth fault protection relay etc.). There are also some components for measure the power quality which is the power analyser. A power analyser (including Voltmeter, Ammeter, Multi-meter) is using to measure the power quality in the electrical power distribution system. Most of the electrical power distributions systems have been connected the power analysers to a building management system. The power analysers connected to a computer in a fixed position that means if someone wants to check the power distribution status, the person needs to go to the computer to check. In this project, a system would be made to monitoring the power status by 5G New Radio (NR) Network application with android smartphone. Since 5G NR Network can provide a theoretical peak download capacity of 20 Gigabits per second. It would be more convenient to monitoring the power status in different place by checking though in the Internet of Things (IoT)

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
