Analyzation Of Real Estate In U.S. Today. The Real Estate
Analyzation of real estate in U.S. today The real estate industry is a major business producing billions
of dollars in income every year, and there are adequate open doors for business visionaries to turn a

controlling the estimation of an area incorporate open transportation get to, the nature of the streets

Slavery And The American Revolution Essay
Slavery originated as early as the 1600 s when Britain shipped 3.1 million Africans to British owned
colonies in the Caribbean. The new idea of slavery brought controversial ideals and created a
historical movement that effected even the peoples of today. Slavery is a form of manipulation that
was excused as a conscious way to provide economic growth in Caribbean and European colonies. It
then revolutionized itself into a much bigger issue; many didn t anticipate it could also revolutionize
the world. The Haitian Revolution of 1759 evoked a social change that transformed the Caribbean
countries, Cuba and Haiti, while slowly expanding the idea of the abolition of slavery. Through
traumatic social events, slavery was justified as a way to sustain economics while it simultaneously
harmed the lives of the enslaved.
During the years of 1700 1830 s the slaves took part in a series of revolts. Seeing as it was unethical to
enslave humans, they demanded their rights and wanted to end their cruel forms of labor. Many slaves,
knowing the risk, took part in Tacky s rebellion in 1760s in Jamaica, the Haitian Revolution of 1789,

A tale of a self destructing man and his quest for redemption, it s the story of Disgrace. In the story we
see the protagonist, David Lurie, face multiple power struggles; struggles in his family life, his work
life, his private life and his sex life. Lurie s lack of self control with his sexual desires brings him the
biggest tribulation and center arc of the story, when his choice to have a sexual affair with a student
Melanie Isaacs jeopardizes his career. Lurie does not realize the significance in his affair until his
daughter Lucy Lurie s tragedy s gives him a realization. As Lurie tries to escape from his personal
problems, finding comfort in bonding with his daughter, he becomes entrapped into his own issues,
facing reality with his choices. Lucy Lurie s influence on Lurie finally allows him to connect with his

incredibly distant as if she wants to disconnect from life. When Lurie comes to terms that his daughter

nothing. I did nothing to save you. (Coetzee, pg157) With Lurie s subconscious raging, he begins to
feel extremely guilty. It is at this moment his eyes start to open and he realizes the chaos he has
caused. As Lucy Lurie starts to drift away more and more, Lurie doesn t agree with Lucy Lurie s
choices as she didn t agree with his choices in the beginning of the story. This is an example of the
secular nature of the story. Lucy Lurie who was once considered mentally present and strong willed, is
now aloof and emotionally distant. Lurie who was once unaccountable and kept the consequences of
his choices at arms lengthen, has now become present in his misgiving and is seeking redemption.

Mao Zedong Of The Communist Party Of China
In the 1960 s the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong feared that China would
move too far in a revisionist direction with an emphasis on expertise rather than on ideological purity
as the Soviet model was doing. In response Mao gathered a group of radicals such as Defense Minister
Lin Biao to help him attack current party leadership to reassert the authority he had lost during the
recent economic crisis and the Great Leap Forward. In 1966, Mao launched the Great Proletarian
Cultural Revolution (1966 1976). The goal of the movement was to purify Chinese society by
upholdling only true Communist ideology. This was an attempt to revive the revolutionary spirit that
had led to victory in the civil war decades earlier and the formation of the People s Republic of China.
Mao claimed that bourgeois foundations had infiltrated the government and society with the intentions
of restoring capitalism. Mao believed that the current Communist leaders were guiding China in the
wrong direction and as a result he called the nation s youth to purge capitalist and traditional
fundamentals from Chinese society and re impose Maoist thought in their place. This lead to a violet
class struggle, as China s youth responded to Mao s call by forming Red Guard groups around the
country. The movement was soon amplified to a class struggle on all fronts as it spread into the
military, the urban workers and even the Communist Party leadership. President Liu Shaoqi and other

The Islamic Insurgency Of Afghanistan
Mullah Akhtar Mansour and the Rising Threat of Islamic Insurgency in Afghanistan
War and conflict have raged in Southeast and Central Asia for centuries due to civil unrest and
political instability. The rise of the Taliban and other militant insurgencies have escalated the dangers
and unpredictability of an already unstable government in Afghanistan. The appointment of the new
Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour could result in a dangerous liaison with ISIS. The agenda of
these jihadist extremists is the take over the Afghan and Pakistan governments in favor of the more
stringent Islamic ways of the Taliban. These groups, professing to do the work of God, are
perpetrating a coarse and distorted interpretation of Islam and the Quran. Insurgents have committed
violent acts including the killing of police, military personnel, assassinations of political figures, and
suicide bombings (Ghufran, 2009, pg 44). Due to the dangerous capabilities of the Taliban combining
with the organizational competence of ISIS, the United States coalition forces must be cautious about
leaving too quickly from Afghanistan, which will also affect Pakistan.
The Birth of the Taliban
The Taliban emerged in 1994 from a group of guerilla type Muslim Mujahidin that had fought in the
Afghan and Soviet war and were dissatisfied and disillusioned with their current leadership. The
Mujahidin s purpose is to perform jihad, meaning to struggle, strive, or persevere in doing God s will

Digital Image Analysis Of Eye Fundus Images
ABSTRACT: Digital image analysis of eye fundus images has several benefits than current observer
based techniques. The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like hypertension,
glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases like diabetes show
abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal blood vessels. In hypertension retinal blood vessels
show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular diameter ratio (AVR)
express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Among other
image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel segmentation, accurate vessel
width measurement and artery or vein classification[1]. Hence the identification of arteries is essential
to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated classification of retinal vessels and
hence it is a challenging task. Nowadays for image analysis graph based methods have been used
which are useful for retinal vessel segmentation, retinal image registration and retinal vessel
classification[2]. The segmented vessels are analyzed using type of intersection and then assigned
artery or vein labels to each vessel segment. So the combination of labels and intensity features
decides final artery or vein class.

Most of the methods uses intensity features to differentiate

The Old Nurse s Story
When it comes to Elizabeth Gaskell and her stories, the story titled, The Old Nurse s Story , serves as
the perfect example of the Gothic elements that were very popular in many authors stories and poems
during this period of time. During this time of British literature, Romanticism and Gothic elements
were the two main strategic ways of writing and how the audience read and perceived the stories being
told. The Gothic element of writing consisted of dark, gloomy and ghostly literature that brought a
haunted feel to the each story. Some Gothic stories could consist of ghostly figures haunting the
characters in the story or the stories told could be about someone suffering a gruesome death that
brought a darkness theme to it. That Gothic feel was very evident in the story by Gaskell because of
the supernatural figures that were present as she describes the setting, the description of the characters
and the issue that was taking place. Some of those Gothic elements that you see throughout the story is
the house that seems to be isolated, the mysterious sounds that they continue to hear and the storms
outside. These supernatural details give the story the dark and gloomy theme that makes it part of the
Gothic period. When discussing the The Old Nurse s Story , the general synopsis of the story is about
a young orphan girl that is left in the care of her nanny and her aunt that has a bunch of servants. The
story starts out like any other typical story but as it continues

Auto Industry in Canada
To fully understand why Canada is one the wealthiest nations in the world, we need to pay particular
attention to Canada s economic history. The economic history of our country has been marked by
many important events that have paved the way for a successful economic future. A brief economic
history of Canada would pay particular attention to important events such as the economic boom of
the 1920s, the dark times of the 1930s; the Second World War during the 1940s and to also not forget
the important trade agreements such as the auto pact and the NAFTA. Despite the above mentioned
important events, Canadian economy has also been greatly influenced by its own economic sectors.

The increase in employment contributed to an increase in the lifestyles of Canadians. Also government
revenues increased with the expansion of the automobile industry. They had to find a way to maintain
the roads therefore licensing and gas fees were introduced. The automakers did not only increase the
lifestyle of the people in the southern provinces but they had a big impact on the western provinces
also. Agriculture was one of the many industrial sectors that benefited from the automakers. With cars
being built it was now easier for the farmers to sell their products in the market. They now had a more
comfortable way to travel and this made their jobs easier. Also the introduction of the farm tractors
was a big help in the agriculture industry. The farm tractors increased crop quantities and livestock
volume. The tractor was a great invention as it was more efficient and less time consuming.
One of the negative impacts of the automobile industry in Canada is that of the regional economic
imbalances between the provinces. With the manufacturing being heavily concentrated in Ontario, the
other provinces of Canada do not get the same economic output as Ontario does. Ontario is considered
by far the wealthiest province. The province generates almost 50 percent of Canada s GDP which
translates into a staggering 675 billion dollars. Many

Religious Influence On Supreme Court Cases
Influence on Decisions of Supreme Court Justices by Their Religions Hao Meng Abstract Religious
influence on judiciary, especially when it comes to Supreme Court Justices, is a complicated issue,
and it has been controversial in U.S.. Talking about judgement for the influence, it s not all inclusive
by only dividing them into liberals and conservatives, instead, a comprehensive approach is to focus
on specific cases. Keywords Supreme Court Justice; religion; legislation; law; abortion; gay rights;
death penalty Introduction Justice is not to be taken by storm. She is to be wooed by slow advances.
Substitute statute for decision, and you shift the center of authority, but add no quota of inspired
wisdom. Benjamin N. Cardozo[1]. In the view of many citizens, Supreme Court Justices are like legal
machines, interpreting constitution to promise American people of equal justice. Throughout
American history, numerous case laws have established the pattern of judicial decisions of U.S., thus
making little room for new legislation. However, even Supreme Court Justices are human beings, who
can be influenced by various factors. It s not that simple to determine the inclination of a justice to his
or her religious belief, political philosophy and ideology. The essence of judicial process requires a
justice to vote under any circumstance based on law, precedents and most important, constitution. No
Supreme Court Justice will say that he or she has personal or political

Salt Solution Concentrations And Water On The Mass Of...
The Effect of Salt Solution Concentrations and Water On the Mass of Potatoes
Research Question
What happens to the mass of the diced potatoes when submerged in varying concentrations of salt
solutions and water in 10 minute intervals? This experiment will compare the mass of the diced
potatoes submerged in distilled water, 1% salt solution, 5% salt solution, and 10% salt solution
respectively in 10 minute intervals.
Background Information
Potatoes first originated in South America and were later introduced to Europe by Spanish explorers.
Now, potatoes have become an important staple food item to have in the kitchen. They are packed
with more energy than any other vegetable. A potato is made of potassium, vitamin C, fiber, starch,
water, and fat. The concentration of each component is as follows: 18% starch, 78% water, 2
5%protein, and 1% fat.
Hypothesis
If the concentration of the salt solution increases then, its mass will decrease. This is because water
molecules move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration in a process called osmosis.
Potatoes are made of mostly water and because of the salt solution concentration the water molecules
in the potato will move out of it. The higher the concentration, the more water molecules move out of
the potato.
Variables
The independent variable is the salt solution concentration. The dependant variable is the mass of the
potato. The control variable is the distilled water.
Control of Variables

What Does Sin Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne emphasizes symbolism using elements of nature that represent good vs. evil, sin,
and continual rebellion against Puritan society. The basis of Nathaniel s writing style is symbolism and
allegory, (where concrete objects usually have a hidden meaning). The symbolism found most
importantly throughout the novel so far would be light, darkness, and the rose bush, all found in
nature. Symbolism is present throughout the entire novel. The author uses light as a symbol of good or
evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those who have not sinned.
The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty. A true example of showing
that Hester no longer remains in the sin free light is, Her prison door was thrown open and she came
forth into the sunshine, which, falling on all alike, seemed, to her sick and morbid heart, as if meant
for no other purpose than to reveal the scarlet letter on her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the characters in the novel, they seem to separate the town into two main areas. One being the
Puritan community town, tight knit and connected, free of sin, and the other being the forest. The
forest is dark and has major characters of sin in it such as the Devil, Roger Chillingworth (spending
years in the forest with Native Americans), and now holds the residence of Hester Prynne, all symbols
of darkness. A quote that is important to represent the dark forest is when Hester and Pearl are leaving
the governor s hall. It shows the importance of what the forest truly represents stating, Wilt thou go
with us tonight? There will be a merry company in the forest; and I well nigh promised the Black Man
that comely Hester Prynne should make one, said by Mistress Hibbins (Ch. 8 pg. 104). Mistress is
referencing the Devil who cultivates in the forest. This also states that there are dark Puritans in the
community who lean their spirits into the

Educational Implications for Heidegger s Views On Poetry And Thinking
ABSTRACT: I discuss some of the educational implications emerging from Heidegger s views on
poetry, thinking, and language. Specifically, Heidegger s views on the neighborhood between poetry
and thinking suggest that most accepted methods of teaching poetry are in error, because they ignore
this neighboring relation. The importance of this relation is presented and clarified. I then discuss the
implications of Heidegger s view for teaching poetry. Heidegger s series of three lectures, later
published as The Nature of Language has some very significant implications for education. (1) In this

Thinking about language means entering a region where method does not reign. It means following a
specific path in that region. But in thinking about the nature of language we encounter specific
problems. When we speak of the nature of language, we are already using language to discuss its
nature. Furthermore, we are already acquainted with the nature of language as people who use it, even
if we cannot clearly articulate and define this nature. In short, we are entangled in a lagging behind the
topic of our inquiry. There is a way out of our predicament. If we look around the region of thought,
without taking the entanglement lightly, we will note that what Heidegger calls the country of thinking
is open in all directions to the neighborhood of poetry. Thus, today, when scientific method tends to
suffocate thinking, we can return to thinking through reading and listening to poetry.
To be specific, the fact that the country of thinking is open in all directions to the neighborhood of
poetry, can often help a person follow those paths of thinking that concern him or her. How? Quite
often if you read and listen to great poetry with an openness to the language and to the thoughts and
experiences expressed in the poem, and with a comportment to think about what you heard, with care
for the world, and

A Reflection On My Values Speech
By reflecting upon my Values Speech, I will be more aware of what skills I have already accomplished
and what skills I need to improve on in order to prepare myself better for the next big speech as well
as to further improve my public speaking skills. Now that I look back at the recording of my
presentation, I clearly saw strengths that were shown, but there were also weaknesses that I revealed,
diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speech should have gave. As I watched Amy Cuddy s
TED talk called Your body language shapes who you are , I learned more about body language and
what I should ve done when I presented my Values Speech. Throughout my reflection, I will discuss
my strengths that I portrayed during my speech such as pacing and eye contact as well as the
limitations, for instance, stuttering and abruptly finishing my sentences, and then I will finish off my
reflection with the levels of confidence and body language I portrayed.
First off, there were many strengths that I believed were demonstrated within my Values Speech such
as pacing and eye contact with my fellow classmates, but despite the strengths that were seen, the
weaknesses of stuttering and finishing sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the end of my
presentation. As I watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that my pacing was
very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is good because my
classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only that, but I also provided eye
contact to my classmates, showing that I was well prepared and did not need to read my note cards as
much. Of course, with strengths, there were also weaknesses portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of
phrases because of my anxiety and I would also finish some of my sentences abruptly, leaving a poor
execution. I realized that once I began saying a certain sentence and mess up mid way through, I
would end the sentence with words that wouldn t be as clear. Now knowing my weaknesses and
strengths, I will better prepare myself for my next upcoming speech by practicing my speeches with
more word choices when I say it verbally, allowing myself to become more aware of the variety of

How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated Essay
How Lomax and Fellow Prisoners are Treated
In this essay I will be looking at ways in which Lomax conveys how he and his fellow prisoners are
treated here in this passage from the book. To show evidence of this I will select quotes which show
choices of form, style, vocabulary and narrative viewpoint. Overall I aim to highlight the ways in
which the attitudes and values are conveyed to the reader.
Lomax Perfectly describes his transition from a P.O.W camp to Outram
Gail. What our captors were in fact doing was consigning us to a lower circle of hell . This extremely
poignant statement shows use of imagery in a way that stands out to the reader. He uses lower circle of
hell , which is a simile to emphasize the absurdity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is mostly from the viewpoint of Lomax now, as an old man who can look back and comment on
it with toned down emotion and consideration.
Moving on to the use of adjectives which Lomax has liberally used throughout the first paragraph we
get the impression that there was no pre meditated violence or planned torture, it was just neglect of
the most damaging kind. some of his colleagues were bored, slovenly and brutal . Both bored and
slovenly are adjectives that describe well the casual attitude of the guards. I would imagine that the
attitudes of these guards were strongly disliked by Lomax morals. He doesn t believe in laziness, to
him every thing must have a purpose and he likes to carefully consider and plan any thing he does. I
cannot imagine that this lax, thoughtless behaviour impressed him much.
Further on in the second paragraph there is more evidence of imagery, and how Lomax uses it to good
effect. cradling those frail creatures of skin and bone in his own emaciated arms . This comes across
strongly in many ways; firstly he is implying that these creatures have taken on a kind of sub human
form through their illness and horrific neglect and deprivation. Secondly the man looking after them is
also rather emaciated . A rather juxtaposed statement as the carer is almost as weak and sick as whom
he is caring for. The descriptive

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Research Paper
Dr. Seuss, written many books such as Green Eggs and Ham and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, has

Christmas. It is my favorite book because it tells a tale about how the mischievous Grinch (who hates

A Personal Review Of David Foster Wallace s Letter To Me
I hope this letter finds you well. My mother recently received a letter in the mail pertaining to my
child support, which stated that the state has decided to increase the money I receive from my father
by 0.67%. I understand this is what the state has calculated to be the appropriate amount I need to
thrive as a young woman living in the 21st century in the United States. However, I believe this
conclusion was met erroneously as it is based on generalized statistics which are then calculated to fit
my lifestyle, which only people who have met me would know. Nonetheless, when determining the
life of someone one has never met, it s impossible to understand the exact position that person may be
in, so here s an explanation as to why I feel my case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s our default setting as David Foster Wallace may put it. So while reading my hope is that you are
not drawn to believe that I am only putting myself into consideration almost as if I m the only one
who matters. The thing is, I have big dreams, and dreams are not cheap. I want to be a certified
neurosurgeon by the time I m thirty years old, and this isn t a far fetched idea, I ve been thinking about
it since third grade. When I was younger I d calculate the cost of college with two parents put into
consideration, and the expenses seemed quite reasonable. Then my parents parted their ways, but as I
d seen in fantasized movies, parents would still both chip in equally in order to assist their growing
children. I never realized in my case the only support I d be getting from my father would be
financially. I won t lie it was stung for a bit realizing that I lived two houses away from my father and
he didn t even bother to stop by just to see how I was doing. I was working so hard in school so that
one day when he did stop by I d show him all my honor roll and perfect attendance certificates, alas,

Benefits Of Big Data Analytics On Business Performance
The benefits of big data analytics on business performance
Why Big Data Is a Big Deal . Big data is a logo used to describe a massive volume of both structured
(is information already managed by the organization in relational databases ) and unstructured data (is
information that is unorganized and does not fall into a pre determined model) that is so large it is
difficult to process using traditional database and software techniques. In most companies, the volume
of data is too big or it moves too fast or it exceeds current processing capacity. Despite these
problems, big data has the potential to help companies improve operations and make faster, more
intelligent decisions.
Moreover companies that implement Big data analytics application gain tangible benefits in their
finance department, sales department, and human resources department. Financial statements (i.e.
Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and income statement) are the summarized results of the company s
operations. To produce those statements, large volumes of structured and nanostructured data which
come from multiple heterogeneous sources must be swiftly linked, connected, and correlated.
However, those activities can t be done by using traditional databases. For that reason, the company
implemented an advanced technology called big data analytical tool (Business Object). For example,
Financial Statements must be displayed on the CEO dashboards instantly all the time. To be able to
achieve his requirement, Business

The Contrasting Changes Of Macbeth And Banquo
The Contrasting Changes of Macbeth and Banquo
In Shakespeare s tragedy Macbeth, the decisions of Banquo and Macbeth following the exposure to
their future show how the two character follow their own moral code and order in which Banquo acts
by his moral order and loyalty, while Macbeth deviates from what is naturally and morally correct,
through the ruthless deception of killing the King. The two characters are compared through two
passages that use literary devices and techniques such as: symbol, synecdoche, Foil , foreshadow,
visual imagery, tone and motif to convey the statement that as ones ambitions grows rapidly, so does
the necessity to become more avarice for power and dominant over others.
In the introduction of Macbeth s tragedy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Banquo s disclosure with his future does not inspire his greed for power due to his faith in
the king. In the phrase It should not stand in thy posterity Banquo uses personification to show that his
future is not alterable by anything as said in the phrase stand the author implies that no actions could
change the prophecy and that Banquo is indifferent to the domination of power that does not belong to
him. In contrary, the idea of domination and avarice for power is exploited by Macbeth through
metaphor in the phrase that is a step On which I must fall down, or else o erleap, For in my way it lies.
This phrase compares defeating or dominating the Prince through the use of step On and O erleap to
show Macbeth s will to gain control over others and that Macbeth believes that since he was
pronounced king of Cawdor he can manipulate his fate. Banquo, on the other hand, shows his ability
to stay in a his moral order and exempt himself from avarice though the way he does not rely on the
prophecy as seen in the Banquo uses tone in the phrase (III:i:9)May they not be my oracles as well,
and set me up in hope? But hush! No more. ENTER MACBETH, as king . The use of tone the phrase
But hush! No more. Shows Banquo s hesitance to bring upheaval towards Macbeth who is now the
king. This shows that Banquo s moral order causes him to be the unquestionable subject of the new
king, Macbeth. Conversely, Macbeth acts as a foil character to Banquo through symbol in the phrase
(I:iv:50)Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires In which stars are a symbol
self fulfillment and fate that represent Macbeths believe to become dominant from his immoral

Support Inclusion Education Cons
There are pros and cons to inclusion education. Those who support inclusion education point to the
benefits which result from putting students with disabilities into general classrooms with other
children who do not have a disability. To begin, integrating students with disabilities into the
classroom forces some teachers to leave their comfort zones and learn new techniques to become
better instructors. Another big benefit for students of all levels of ability is the increase in social areas
such as peer modeling. Children from both aspects of the discussion learn social norms from their
peers exhibiting acceptable academic and social behaviors. Relationship building as well as allowing
children to understand diversity are also great pros.

Battle Of Arabia Essay
Lawrence of Arabia bolstered the Allied Powers through the capture of Damascus by reinforcing
General Allenby s forces and in the process he demonstrated his innovative leadership. Wanting to
advance north against the Turks, Allenby required assistance from the Arabs to attack the Fourth Army
of the Turks east of the Jordan River. To accomplish that, Allenby needed Lawrence, who seemed to
be the only person who could get the Arabs to fight in an organized way (Korda 379). Considering
Allenby s request, Lawrence altered the proposed strategy to have the Arabs attack Ma an and the
southern railway. Instead, Lawrence believed it would be best to attack the railway from the north of

These tribes rallied with Allenby s army and resulted in a defeat of the Ottomans at Deraa (Mack 163).
Importantly, this success at Deraa diminished the already dwindling Turks forces, setting them up for
defeat at Damascus. On September 19th, the day that Allenby captured Damascus, the Turkish forces
were bombarded for fifteen minutes at 4:30 am by 385 guns. This full scale infantry assault with
artillery barrage drove the Turks from their bunker. So firmly had the Turks been convinced that the
assault would be toward the Jordan River that they had thinned out their infantry on the coastal plain,
and their defenses quickly crumbled (Korda 411). At about nine in the morning on Tuesday, (October
1,) Lawrence and Stirling drove into Damascus to find scenes of jubilation. Nuri Shaalan and Nasir
had already entered the city, and the narrow streets of the old city of Damascus were aflame with joy
and enthusiasm (Barr 297). After the successful assault on Damascus, presses reported that Colonel
Lawrence played a part of the greatest importance in the Palestine victory. They also notably

Make Your Dorm Room More Comfortable Your dorm room is the place you will most likely be
spending the majority of time during college. So, make it feel like home. In most colleges, the dorms
are bland and boring white walls. Because of this, you will like your new found home better if you
decorate it or add features to make it more appealing and more comfortable. In my dorm, my
roommate and I have put up pictures and a flag of the United States and a Don t Tread On Me Flag.
Also in my common room (A living room between my dorm room and two other dorm rooms) my
suite mates have gotten a fish tank and Christmas lights to add life to the room. However, the most
essential way to make your dorm room more comfortable and feel like home is to get along with your
roommate. In my case, my roommate and I went to the same high school and have known each other
for years and what the other does and does not care for. Here is a video showing ways to avoid
problems with your roommate. At summer orientation, administration gave the incoming students a tip
for when we were moving into our dorms. This tip was to make your bed first before you unpack.

and the High/Scope Approach developed by Dr. David Weikart. I will first discuss a brief history of
each pedagogy, then compare both on certain aspects I find to be similar and different. I will discuss
the views of each on the senses, the learning environment, the freedom and child led philosophy, the
need for order, KDI s and sensitive periods, reflection and aspects of the daily routine in each setting,
with particular emphasis on Montessori s outdoor setting. Dr. Maria Montessori was an Italian

To capture and build on children s natural enthusiasms, adults put themselves in children s hands as
often as possible. They follow the children s directions . (Hohmann et al 1995 p.53). When it comes to
the similarities between the High/Scope planned learning environment and Montessori s prepared
environment, one thing I observe is the sense of order ...The little child s need for order is one of the
most powerful incentives to dominate his early life . (Montessori, 1949, p. 190), and providing the
child the opportunity to make choices and decisions; for this particularly plays a large role in
Montessori s philosophy. ...The child should be allowed to exercise himself freely in the work
organised for him . (Montessori 1915, p. 51). High/Scope activities are focused around Key
Development Indicators (KDI s). These KDI s are similar to the likes of Aistear. They are a sequence
of statements describing key development experiences and are used by educators to assist them in
observing, arranging, and evaluating what children learn as they partake in activities. For example, in
my work placement they go exactly by Aistear recommended activities, so they can be sure to meet all
their principles and themes with the children (Identity Belonging, Exploring Thinking,
Communicating and Well being). Montessori, however, focuses more on sensitive periods.
Throughout these periods, the child has a particularly strong sensitivity towards a specific piece of
information or ability. The sensitivity lasts for a definite period and will not

Identifying The Target Market Is The First Step Of...
Identifying the target market is the first step in successfully marketing a product or business idea. The
Pedego Stretch e cargo bike is a product that features a variety of cargo storage areas, while offering
the ease and comfort of a bike designed with the individual in mind [see appendix A]. I would place
this bike in the consumer market for a few reasons. Mainly, because the majority of consumers would
be purchasing this bike for personal use. While this bike could potentially be used as part of a
business, it would not be incorporated into a new product and sold as such. The creators of the Pedego
e bikes are very consumer focused. They design each bike with the individual who will be riding it in
mind, making this product a great fit for the consumer market. Once the overall market has been
determined the next step is to segment the market. I would begin with a geographic segmentation
characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage,
and the electric aspect make it easy to tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual
peddling. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive
and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the
convenience of skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to
tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making

Trench Warfare Dbq
The military technological advancements of trench warfare, poison gas, and tanks were just a few of
the many important military innovations in the First World War. In WWI, the advent (no trench
warfare had existed since the American Civil War) of trench warfare slowed battles to vicious, bloody
scraps over a few meters of ground, often lasting months and even years. Be sure you have a clear
introduction on the AP exam. This is critical. Warfare in the nineteenth century demanded the
concentration of large masses of troops over open ground to compensate for the extremely inaccurate
musket. The development of the rifle (a firearm with grooves along the inner barrel) meant a soldier
could easily hit an enemy from hundreds of meters away, rendering ... Show more content on

The nations of the Entente (Britain, France, and Russia) sought the new technology as well. A German
press report found that the French used chemical weapons at Ypres (Document 5). The technology of
poison gas, though ultimately ineffectual in swaying the war to one side s favor, showed the changing
landscape of military technology in the First World War. A fundamental part of modern warfare is the
use of armor or vehicles protected from conventional small arms and small artillery fire, such as tanks.
The first widespread and successful use of tanks was seen in WWI. The use of tanks allowed an attack
to be carried out without threat from machine guns or rifle fire, as Richard Haigh, a British tank
commander, details in Life in a Tank (Document 7). Thick, metal armor protected the crew of a tank
from all but the most powerful artillery shells. Tanks were armed with machine guns to attack exposed
enemy infantry and artillery to destroy enemy fortifications. The tank s use as a purely pragmatic
weapon was not as devastating as its effect on the spirit of soldiers defending against armor, German

Women s Rights And Feminist Movements
Although often iconized as a time of industrial and political revolution the 20th Century provided an
equally important platform for social revolution. During this era countless social movements emerged,
notably so the women s rights and feminist movements. Tremendous gains were made for women
throughout the century s span, from suffrage, to equal pay, and the availability of contraceptives. One
of the most complex feminist movements of the 20th century followed the period s most tumultuous
event: World War II. While under occupation by the United States the Japanese feminist movement
flourished and the lives of Japanese women changed dramatically. The feminism of this period, from
the end of the war to the end of occupation, has been studied by numerous historians and is mentioned
in most literature concerning occupation. The leading scholars of occupation feminism have
approached and presented the topic in three distinctly different ways: several focus on cultural
changes, others emphasize the movement s deep historical roots, and some criticize the period as
flawed feminism. The loss of World War II was a catalyst for cultural change within Japan.
Occupation and the subsequent influx of American ideals and culture influenced the changes that
occurred in Japanese women s lives. John Dower, a retired MIT professor of Japanese history, reflects
on these cultural changes in his work Embracing Defeat: Japan in the Wake of World War II .

As a case in point with children and infants taking in this product there has been one such argument
related to the HFCS in particular toward obesity in young children. While obesity was on the subject
other factors came into rise as well. Specifically triglycerides and fatty deposits around the liver.
Commonly called fatty liver thus causes scarring and hardening of the liver similar to cirrhosis, which
is inflammation of the liver. While early feasting comes easily for infants either in a can or sometime
in a powder mix or pre mixed substance, the infants are introduced to HFCS earlier while in the
womb. Pregnant cravings range from sweet and sour to the strange form such as pickles and ice
cream. These products are likely to carry HFCS, and while these food items are being taken no doubt
they are pleasing the cravings, the pre born child is already at a risk for obesity and other issues prior
to its first breath. Besides the obesity issue being a factor at the same time it causes insulin resistances.

In response Mao gathered a group of radicals such as Defense Minister Lin Biao to help him attack current party leadership to reassert the authority he had lost during the recent economic crisis and the Great Leap Forward. In 1966, Mao launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966 1976). The goal of the movement was to purify Chinese society by upholdling only true Communist ideology. The movement was soon amplified to a class struggle on all fronts as it spread into the military, the urban workers and even the Communist Party leadership. The agenda of these jihadist extremists is the take over the Afghan and Pakistan governments in favor of the more stringent Islamic ways of the Taliban. These groups, professing to do the work of God, are perpetrating a coarse and distorted interpretation of Islam and the Quran. Insurgents have committed violent acts including the killing of police, military personnel, assassinations of political figures, and suicide bombings (Ghufran, 2009, pg 44). Due to the dangerous capabilities of the Taliban combining with the organizational competence of ISIS, the United States coalition forces must be cautious about leaving too quickly from Afghanistan, which will also affect Pakistan. The Birth of the Taliban The Taliban emerged in 1994 from a group of guerilla type Muslim Mujahidin that had fought in the Afghan and Soviet war and were dissatisfied and disillusioned with their current leadership. The Mujahidin s purpose is to perform jihad, meaning to struggle, strive, or persevere in doing God s will (Wikipedia, 2015). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The characteristic symptoms of different systemic diseases like hypertension, glaucoma, diabetes and cardiovascular disorder etc. affects retinal vessels. Diseases like diabetes show abnormalities and diameter changes in retinal blood vessels. In hypertension retinal blood vessels show dilatation and elongation of main arteries and veins. Arteriolar to venular diameter ratio (AVR) express high blood pressure levels, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Among other image processing operations the estimation of AVR requires vessel segmentation, accurate vessel width measurement and artery or vein classification[1]. Hence the identification of arteries is essential to detect eye diseases. The work has been done on automated classification of retinal vessels and hence it is a challenging task. Nowadays for image analysis graph based methods have been used which are useful for retinal vessel segmentation, retinal image registration and retinal vessel classification[2]. The segmented vessels are analyzed using type of intersection and then assigned artery or vein labels to each vessel segment. So the combination of labels and intensity features decides final artery or vein class. INTRODUCTION Most of the methods uses intensity features to differentiate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Old Nurse s Story When it comes to Elizabeth Gaskell and her stories, the story titled, The Old Nurse s Story , serves as the perfect example of the Gothic elements that were very popular in many authors stories and poems during this period of time. During this time of British literature, Romanticism and Gothic elements were the two main strategic ways of writing and how the audience read and perceived the stories being told. The Gothic element of writing consisted of dark, gloomy and ghostly literature that brought a haunted feel to the each story. Some Gothic stories could consist of ghostly figures haunting the characters in the story or the stories told could be about someone suffering a gruesome death that brought a darkness theme to it. That Gothic feel was very evident in the story by Gaskell because of the supernatural figures that were present as she describes the setting, the description of the characters and the issue that was taking place. Some of those Gothic elements that you see throughout the story is the house that seems to be isolated, the mysterious sounds that they continue to hear and the storms outside. These supernatural details give the story the dark and gloomy theme that makes it part of the Gothic period. When discussing the The Old Nurse s Story , the general synopsis of the story is about a young orphan girl that is left in the care of her nanny and her aunt that has a bunch of servants. Religious Influence On Supreme Court Cases Influence on Decisions of Supreme Court Justices by Their Religions Hao Meng Abstract Religious influence on judiciary, especially when it comes to Supreme Court Justices, is a complicated issue, and it has been controversial in U.S.. Talking about judgement for the influence, it s not all inclusive by only dividing them into liberals and conservatives, instead, a comprehensive approach is to focus on specific cases. Keywords Supreme Court Justice; religion; legislation; law; abortion; gay rights; death penalty Introduction Justice is not to be taken by storm. She is to be wooed by slow advances. Substitute statute for decision, and you shift the center of authority, but add no quota of inspired wisdom. Benjamin N. Cardozo[1]. In the view of many citizens, Supreme Court Justices are like legal machines, interpreting constitution to promise American people of equal justice. Throughout American history, numerous case laws have established the pattern of judicial decisions of U.S., thus making little room for new legislation. However, even Supreme Court Justices are human beings, who can be influenced by various factors. It s not that simple to determine the inclination of a justice to his or her religious belief, political philosophy and ideology. The Effect of Salt Solution Concentrations and Water On the Mass of Potatoes Research Question What happens to the mass of the diced potatoes when submerged in varying concentrations of salt solutions and water in 10 minute intervals? This experiment will compare the mass of the diced potatoes submerged in distilled water, 1% salt solution, 5% salt solution, and 10% salt solution respectively in 10 minute intervals. Background Information Potatoes first originated in South America and were later introduced to Europe by Spanish explorers. Now, potatoes have become an important staple food item to have in the kitchen. They are packed with more energy than any other vegetable. A potato is made of potassium, vitamin C, fiber, starch, water, and fat. The concentration of each component is as follows: 18% starch, 78% water, 2 5%protein, and 1% fat. Hypothesis If the concentration of the salt solution increases then, its mass will decrease. This is because water molecules move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration in a process called osmosis. Potatoes are made of mostly water and because of the salt solution concentration the water molecules in the potato will move out of it. The higher the concentration, the more water molecules move out of the potato. Variables The independent variable is the salt solution concentration. The dependant variable is the mass of the potato. The control variable is the distilled water. Control of Variables Another controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Does Sin Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne emphasizes symbolism using elements of nature that represent good vs. evil, sin, and continual rebellion against Puritan society. The basis of Nathaniel s writing style is symbolism and allegory, (where concrete objects usually have a hidden meaning). The symbolism found most importantly throughout the novel so far would be light, darkness, and the rose bush, all found in nature. Symbolism is present throughout the entire novel. The author uses light as a symbol of good or evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those who have not sinned. The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty. A true example of showing that Hester no longer remains in the sin free light is, Her prison door was thrown open and she came forth into the sunshine, which, falling on all alike, seemed, to her sick and morbid heart, as if meant for no other purpose than to reveal the scarlet letter on her ... Educational Implications for Heidegger s Views On Poetry And Thinking ABSTRACT: I discuss some of the educational implications emerging from Heidegger s views on poetry, thinking, and language. Specifically, Heidegger s views on the neighborhood between poetry and thinking suggest that most accepted methods of teaching poetry are in error, because they ignore this neighboring relation. The importance of this relation is presented and clarified. I then discuss the implications of Heidegger s view for teaching poetry. Heidegger s series of three lectures, later published as The Nature of Language has some very significant implications for education. (1) In this paper I focus on the second lecture. It means following a specific path in that region. But in thinking about the nature of language we encounter specific problems. When we speak of the nature of language, we are already using language to discuss its nature. Furthermore, we are already acquainted with the nature of language as people who use it, even if we cannot clearly articulate and define this nature. In short, we are entangled in a lagging behind the topic of our inquiry. There is a way out of our predicament. If we look around the region of thought, without taking the entanglement lightly, we will note that what Heidegger calls the country of thinking is open in all directions to the neighborhood of poetry. Thus, today, when scientific method tends to suffocate thinking, we can return to thinking through reading and listening to poetry. To be specific, the fact that the country of thinking is open in all directions to the neighborhood of poetry, can often help a person follow those paths of thinking that concern him or her. How? Now that I look back at the recording of my presentation, I clearly saw strengths that were shown, but there were also weaknesses that I revealed, diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speech should have gave. As I watched Amy Cuddy s TED talk called Your body language shapes who you are , I learned more about body language and what I should ve done when I presented my Values Speech. Throughout my reflection, I will discuss my strengths that I portrayed during my speech such as pacing and eye contact as well as the limitations, for instance, stuttering and abruptly finishing my sentences, and then I will finish off my reflection with the levels of confidence and body language I portrayed. First off, there were many strengths that I believed were demonstrated within my Values Speech such as pacing and eye contact with my fellow classmates, but despite the strengths that were seen, the weaknesses of stuttering and finishing sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the end of my presentation. As I watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that my pacing was very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is good because my classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only that, but I also provided eye contact to my classmates, showing that I was well prepared and did not need to read my note cards as much. Of course, with strengths, there were also weaknesses portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of phrases because of my anxiety and I would also finish some of my sentences abruptly, leaving a poor execution. I realized that once I began saying a certain sentence and mess up mid way through, I would end the sentence with words that wouldn t be as clear. Both bored and slovenly are adjectives that describe well the casual attitude of the guards. I would imagine that the attitudes of these guards were strongly disliked by Lomax morals. He doesn t believe in laziness, to him every thing must have a purpose and he likes to carefully consider and plan any thing he does. I cannot imagine that this lax, thoughtless behaviour impressed him much. Further on in the second paragraph there is more evidence of imagery, and how Lomax uses it to good effect. cradling those frail creatures of skin and bone in his own emaciated arms . This comes across strongly in many ways; firstly he is implying that these creatures have taken on a kind of sub human form through their illness and horrific neglect and deprivation. • 30. What Home Mean To Me Research Paper What does home mean to you? Is it a place? Is it a feeling? To me, home is neither a place, nor a feeling, it is the people that surround you and care for you. These people can be your family or the people that you trust and have grown close to. Since the day I was born, my family and I were always moving from state to state. This is because both of my parents served in the United States Navy. To give you an idea on how often I moved, before I had turned 12 years old, my family had moved seven times throughout the Eastern half of the United States, close to the average amount of times that a person moves in his lifetime which is recorded at 11.7 times (Chalabi). This being said, moving made me become a social person by learning skills for adapting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Make Your Dorm Room More Comfortable Your dorm room is the place you will most likely be spending the majority of time during college. So, make it feel like home. In most colleges, the dorms are bland and boring white walls. Because of this, you will like your new found home better if you decorate it or add features to make it more appealing and more comfortable. In my dorm, my roommate and I have put up pictures and a flag of the United States and a Don t Tread On Me Flag. Also in my common room (A living room between my dorm room and two other dorm rooms) my suite mates have gotten a fish tank and Christmas lights to add life to the room. However, the most essential way to make your dorm room more comfortable and feel like home is to get along with your roommate. In my case, my roommate and I went to the same high school and have known each other for years and what the other does and does not care for. Here is a video showing ways to avoid problems with your roommate. At summer orientation, administration gave the incoming students a tip for when we were moving into our dorms. Circadian Rhythms Lab Report Hypothesis: If rats are given a source of dim nighttime light, then they ll experience depressive like symptoms, which manifest due to neuronal changes in the hippocampus associated with circadian rhythm disruption. Independent Variable: Source of dim nighttime light Dependent Variable: Disruption in circadian rhythm Animals The test subjects of this experiment are sixty male Wistar rats [1]; they are bred and will be kept under a normal light dark cycle. They will be kept in cages that are at a constant temperature of 25 °C. Water and food will be provided to them for the length of this experiment. Before commencing the experiment, the rats are allowed a week to become accustomed to the facility. After they have become 8 weeks of age, the rats are randomly placed in two groups, one that is exposed to a 12 hour light: 12 hour dark cycle (n=30 per group) and another that is exposed to a 12 hour light:12 hour dim light cycle (n=30 per group). The rats will be examined under experimental lighting for 3 weeks. The intensity of the light will be measured using a Traceable Dual Display light meter [1]. • 33. Advantages Of Montessori Method Throughout this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting many aspects of the Montessori Method and the High/Scope Approach developed by Dr. David Weikart. I will first discuss a brief history of each pedagogy, then compare both on certain aspects I find to be similar and different. I will discuss the views of each on the senses, the learning environment, the freedom and child led philosophy, the need for order, KDI s and sensitive periods, reflection and aspects of the daily routine in each setting, with particular emphasis on Montessori s outdoor setting. Dr. Maria Montessori was an Italian educator and scientist. She developed a revolutionary approach to education in children. Montessori was the first female in Italy to obtain a medical ... When it comes to the similarities between the High/Scope planned learning environment and Montessori s prepared environment, one thing I observe is the sense of order ...The little child s need for order is one of the most powerful incentives to dominate his early life . (Montessori, 1949, p. 190), and providing the child the opportunity to make choices and decisions; for this particularly plays a large role in Montessori s philosophy. ...The child should be allowed to exercise himself freely in the work organised for him . (Montessori 1915, p. 51). High/Scope activities are focused around Key Development Indicators (KDI s). These KDI s are similar to the likes of Aistear. They are a sequence of statements describing key development experiences and are used by educators to assist them in observing, arranging, and evaluating what children learn as they partake in activities. For example, in my work placement they go exactly by Aistear recommended activities, so they can be sure to meet all their principles and themes with the children (Identity Belonging, Exploring Thinking, Communicating and Well being). Montessori, however, focuses more on sensitive periods. Throughout these periods, the child has a particularly strong sensitivity towards a specific piece of information or ability. • 34. Identifying The Target Market Is The First Step Of... Identifying the target market is the first step in successfully marketing a product or business idea. The Pedego Stretch e cargo bike is a product that features a variety of cargo storage areas, while offering the ease and comfort of a bike designed with the individual in mind [see appendix A]. I would place this bike in the consumer market for a few reasons. Mainly, because the majority of consumers would be purchasing this bike for personal use. While this bike could potentially be used as part of a business, it would not be incorporated into a new product and sold as such. The creators of the Pedego e bikes are very consumer focused. They design each bike with the individual who will be riding it in mind, making this product a great fit for the consumer market. Once the overall market has been determined the next step is to segment the market. I would begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the electric aspect make it easy to tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Trench Warfare Dbq The military technological advancements of trench warfare, poison gas, and tanks were just a few of the many important military innovations in the First World War. In WWI, the advent (no trench warfare had existed since the American Civil War) of trench warfare slowed battles to vicious, bloody scraps over a few meters of ground, often lasting months and even years. Be sure you have a clear introduction on the AP exam. This is critical. Warfare in the nineteenth century demanded the concentration of large masses of troops over open ground to compensate for the extremely inaccurate musket. The development of the rifle (a firearm with grooves along the inner barrel) meant a soldier could easily hit an enemy from hundreds of meters away, rendering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nations of the Entente (Britain, France, and Russia) sought the new technology as well. A German press report found that the French used chemical weapons at Ypres (Document 5). The technology of poison gas, though ultimately ineffectual in swaying the war to one side s favor, showed the changing landscape of military technology in the First World War. A fundamental part of modern warfare is the use of armor or vehicles protected from conventional small arms and small artillery fire, such as tanks. The first widespread and successful use of tanks was seen in WWI. The use of tanks allowed an attack to be carried out without threat from machine guns or rifle fire, as Richard Haigh, a British tank commander, details in Life in a Tank (Document 7). Thick, metal armor protected the crew of a tank from all but the most powerful artillery shells. Tanks were armed with machine guns to attack exposed enemy infantry and artillery to destroy enemy fortifications. The tank s use as a purely pragmatic weapon was not as devastating as its effect on the spirit of soldiers defending against armor, German General Hindenburg remarks in his report on the Battle of ... • 37. Women s Rights And Feminist Movements Although often iconized as a time of industrial and political revolution the 20th Century provided an equally important platform for social revolution. During this era countless social movements emerged, notably so the women s rights and feminist movements. Tremendous gains were made for women throughout the century s span, from suffrage, to equal pay, and the availability of contraceptives. One of the most complex feminist movements of the 20th century followed the period s most tumultuous event: World War II. While under occupation by the United States the Japanese feminist movement flourished and the lives of Japanese women changed dramatically. The feminism of this period, from the end of the war to the end of occupation, has been studied by numerous historians and is mentioned in most literature concerning occupation. The leading scholars of occupation feminism have approached and presented the topic in three distinctly different ways: several focus on cultural changes, others emphasize the movement s deep historical roots, and some criticize the period as flawed feminism. The loss of World War II was a catalyst for cultural change within Japan. Occupation and the subsequent influx of American ideals and culture influenced the changes that occurred in Japanese women s lives. John Dower, a retired MIT professor of Japanese history, reflects on these cultural changes in his work Embracing Defeat: Japan in the Wake of World War II . Throughout his book in chapters such ... As a case in point with children and infants taking in this product there has been one such argument related to the HFCS in particular toward obesity in young children. While obesity was on the subject other factors came into rise as well. Specifically triglycerides and fatty deposits around the liver. Commonly called fatty liver thus causes scarring and hardening of the liver similar to cirrhosis, which is inflammation of the liver. While early feasting comes easily for infants either in a can or sometime in a powder mix or pre mixed substance, the infants are introduced to HFCS earlier while in the womb. Pregnant cravings range from sweet and sour to the strange form such as pickles and ice cream. These products are likely to carry HFCS, and while these food items are being taken no doubt they are pleasing the cravings, the pre born child is already at a risk for obesity and other issues prior to its first breath. Besides the obesity issue being a factor at the same time it causes insulin resistances.
