When asking for links, or reviewing those already earned, it is useful to understand the anatomy of a link. Important elements here are the nofollow tag and the anchor text. Anchor text tells the search engine what the link is about. The nofollow tag is used for content that you don’t want to vouch for. You see this often used in blog comments and other unmoderated areas of websites. For example, links from Twitter are all nofollow.
