The Revolutions Of The Celestial Orbs By Nicolaus...
The texts The Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs by Nicolaus Copernicus and Two New Sciences by
Galileo demonstrates a powerful illustration of heliocentric hypothesis. In each book, astronomer
Nicolas Copernicus and Scientist Galileo Galilei describes their theory and assumption about the
motion and shapes of the planets and objects based on their understandings and advocating earlier
scientist s thoughts. Nicolas Copernicus describes Sun as the center of the universe, which is
spherical in shape and other planets(wanderers), which are also spherical revolve around the sun in
a Uniform, Eternal, and Circular motion. Likewise, Galileo defines the motion of massive bodies
(planets) are steady and uniform, and distance traveled by these bodies are equivalent at equal
intervals of time. However, in Idols of the Mind, Francis Bacon demonstrated that there were flaws
in the assumptions made by the scientists because they conducted the practical experiments and
theories based on their own understanding. According to his scientific investigations, past scientific
thinkers used tests and experiments based on their thoughts, which he thinks corrupts the nature of
things as they try to compound their nature with it. Copernicus and Galileo commit errors by
demonstrating theories and performing experiments based on the human understandings of
themselves and other scientists, like Aristotle. However, because this leads to the corruption of a
more natural way of thinking, Francis

How Did Jean Chreten Improve Canada
Prime Ministers have one of the hardest and most stressful jobs in the world. They need to take
care of the people of a country and to make them happy at all times. Prime Ministers need to have
really good leadership skills and need to make the best decisions for the country. If one Prime
Minister has failed to accomplish to improve a country, someone else has to be elected. But for
Jean Chretien, this has not been the case.
Jean Chretien was one of Canada s most important people in its history. He improved Canada s
economy. He was mostly famous for being Canada s 20th Prime Minister for 10 years. Jean
Chretien is from Shawinigan, Canada and was born on January 11, 1934. He studied in Laval
University of Quebec (Quebec City) and studied law. He is a married man and helped Canada in
one of its hardest times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around 1990, Chretien became the leader of the Liberal party and went back to the House of
Commons to help out New Brunswick with their BeausГ©jour project. Also, he improved Canada
s state in economy by getting rid of deficit and having more savings by the government to improve
Canada for five straight years. Additionally, he supported war but he wouldn t send troops to Iraq
because of the United Nations resolution.
Back in 2001, Canada was dependant with United States of America. When America got attacked
by the terrorist group Al Queda, Chretien was worried because it s been the first time since World
War 2 that the American border has been a huge problem. It was a problem because Canada needed
the American exports. Chretien wanted to help America but the Canadian troops had very little
recourses and a weak army. But in 2002, Canada sent their troops to help the Americans in
Afghanistan. But Chretien refused to send troops to the Iraq war without Authorization from the

Self Dehumanization
Power allows people to control outcomes with respect to both the environment and the self . This
control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will
disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have
equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We
based the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces
self dehumanization.
The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Ageto the Iron Age today we are living in an
ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital
necessities in our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited
part of day. But now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by
inventing electricity illuminated the whole world.
Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find
ourselves completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all
comforts of life and life would be completely different in absence of it.
We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it
is now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with
coolers, airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The

Considerations. In order to successfully design a matrix organization, though, a few key
considerations need to be planned for. First, informal communication channels need to be developed
and leadership needs to watch for any signs of organizational silos.
Effective communication among the dimensions of the matrix structure is essential for a successful
implementation. A great deal of this communication is informal in nature, leading to voluntary
coordination among employees. Informal communication relies on personal networks and
relationships built on trust. One barrier to informal communication is organizational silos. Leaders
must break down these silos whenever possible (Galbraith, 2010, p.6).
Next, it is important for cross departmental goal achievement that the rewards be aligned for all
areas. The goals of the different matrix dimensions must be aligned to work together. The more
dimensions that exist, the more likely it is that fragmentation will occur (Galbraith, 2010, p.6).
Lastly, since the unity of command is no longer in existence, i.e., there are essentially two bosses
(functional and product managers) there needs to be absolute clarity in the work priorities. When

New York s Fresh Kills Landfill
The city that never sleeps also happens to be a city that has an enormous garbage problem that it
needs to solve. Whether this problem it be due to a mismanagement of resources from the
beginning or stemming from the throw away culture of today, New York is in a situation where
its trash is piling up and it s pawning it off on others to discard of it. New York City, like most
cities across the United Sates utilizes landfills to dispose of their waste. Fresh Kills Landfillopened
in 1948 and was only intended to be a temporary landfill used for 20 years, however by 1955 it
became the largest landfill in the world as it was turned into New York s primary dumping
ground for the second half of the 20th century. At the peak of operation Fresh Kills was receiving
twenty barges carry 650 tons of waste each and every day. In March of 2001 Fresh Kills reached
capacity and with the urging of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and local
residents it was shut down. That left a big question for the Department of Sanitation as to what to
do with New York City and its surrounding boroughs trash? (Fresh Kills Park Alliance)... Show

Today, garbage is collected with highly polluting diesel fueled trucks and then that garbage is
brought to transfer stations where the waste is then sorted and transported to another solid waste
management facility for further processing, treatment, transfer or disposal. This process is again
handled using highly polluting diesel fueled trucks that ship it to landfills and waste to energy
incinerators in other states. The long term plan introduced is to reduce costs drastically increasing
recycling which in turn will reduce waste and to build a waterfront transfer system in order to be
less dependent upon the highly polluting diesel trucks and use barges hauling containers to ship
garbage and also trains to transfer the waste. (Transfer

Uncle Tom Stereotypes
In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now
has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes
they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we
associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom
stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of
late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film
Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song
of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was
released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype?
According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed,
hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas,
and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on
minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline.
These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled
Uncle Tom Mania: Slavery Minstrelsy, and Transatlantic Culture in the 1850 s Sarah Meer

Native Americans During The 20th Century
Throughout the history of America the thought of assimilation has been fought for and against.
Many people, such as the Native Americans, were forcibly stripped of their culture and
Americanized. Others, such as the German Americans, willingly assimilated in political views but
tried to hold onto their culture. All of these situations lead to hatred from white Americans at some
point throughout our history. The Native Americans during the westward expansion, German
Americans during WWI, and Japanese immigrants during WWII. Even though some of these people
had already assimilated, the fear that remained constant was the belief that people of different races
and ethnicities were savages. That other cultures were an affront and could not... Show more content

His belief was that if they accept God and the rules of a civilized community they would become
useful members of American life. Pratt spoke to reformers of the time about the importance of
citizenizing Native Americans, he believed they were savages but not a lost cause. Pratt talked
in detail about the previous misguided attempts to change the Indians. He said that there is no
way for an Indian to understand civilized life if they are still living in a savage land (Pratt, 39)
and that Native Americans would accept the schooling and give up their savage lifestyle and
false gods. He talks about how to integrate the Native Americans, but not how to leave their land
alone. Chief Joseph did not seem to want to give up his way of life and only wanted his tribe s
small portion of land. For someone to make real change they must want to change themselves.
What Pratt is proposing to do instead is force the Native Americans to assimilate. Pratt points out
that you can t make a German American unless he is in America where he could learn and accept
the customs of America (Pratt, 38). This takes away the German s choice to come to America or
not, and the ones who did assimilate still tried to hold onto parts of their culture until WWI. In the
same way, what Pratt is proposing takes away the

The Signs Of Shopping By Malcolm Gladwell
To be successful in a capitalistic government, you must be willing to step on the heads of those
who are below you, and claim their successes as your own. Advertisements within our capitalistic
culture act as a way to force the customer into buying what the corporate overlords want you to buy.
Anne Norton, author of The Signs of Shoppingis a heavily published author, and has earned many
awards in her field. In her essay, she explains how businesses use advertisement techniques to
increase the profits in a retail store. Malcolm Gladwell, the author of The Science of Shopping is a
staff writer for the New Yorker. In his essay, he explains how Paco Underhill, a retail expert, taught
many Forbes 500 companies how to create more opportunities to up sale to their customers. Norton
shows how malls and other shopping outlets only want one demographic to shop in their stores, and
Gladwell shows how stores utilize their internal structure to make more money. Both utilize a
negative tone toward the businesspractices shown in the articles, and demonstrate the manipulation
of the consumer with the usage of imagery within advertisements to show that capitalism is
unethical. Manipulation of consumers in stores and other establishments, is at a new high.
Capitalism acts as the encouragement to large corporations to use these controversial practices.
Norton uses blunt language and Gladwell explains the significance of retail to show how capitalism
encourages manipulation. Norton used

Objectives:
The purpose of this lab was to determine the specific heat of a metal as well as the heat of fusion of
ice.
Apparatus: The equipment used in the experiment include: metal cylinder, beaker, triple beam
balance, Styrofoam cup, thermometer and a hot plate.
Theory
The energy required to increase the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1K is referred to as
specific heat, whose SI unit is J/ (kg. K). The specific heat of water, CH2O is 1.000cal / (g. OC)

The ice was added continuously until the temperature of the water bath dropped to 100C. The final
temperature, Tf was then measured after the ice had melted completely. The latent heat of fusion of
ice was then computed.
Results
Block number = 13
Mass of Block, ms = 83.3g
Mass of Cup = 5.5g
Measured Temp. of Boiling Water = 99.6 C
CH2O = 1.000cal / (g. OC) = 4186 J / (kg. K).

Entering International Markets Essays
Entering International Markets Measuring a potential business venture has many aspects which the
international manager must be aware of in order to convey the correct information back to the
decision makers. Being ignorant to any of the aspects can lead to a false representation of the
project, and hence an uninformed decision being passed. In order for a business to survive it must
grow. For growth to be optimal, management must first be able to identify the most attractive
prospective leads. The country as a whole, specifically geography, government, and financial aspects
must be looked at in order to yieldthe best possible picture of the market a company wishes to enter.
Concentration should be placed on gathering reliable facts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After sifting through the leads and finding the right ones to investigate management must formulate
an international marketing plan. This further helps management in locating potential markets for
their products. The first step is to use secondary research to find out what the sales potential is in a
given market. Asking the questions of need, demand, and support gives one a starting point for
research. If we were a company that sold pants we might want to ask the following questions. Is
there a need for pants? Is it cold enough there to wear pants? Do people that demand the pants have
money? These are the questions that one should ask of potential markets. Table 1 located at the end
of the paper shows the statistics that are needed for a general market picture. After gathering the
information from the secondary research, the picture of a potential market becomes more evident.
However, to make the picture clearer, one must conduct primary research. This research outlines the
specifics of the potential market that directly pertain to the product. Robert Douglas book,
Penetrating the International Market, addresses the issue of locating potential markets in greater
detail.2
[mg1] After finding a lead that contains profitable markets it is necessary to analyze the venture as
a whole. The decisions of companies must be based on the facts of reliable sources on all
investments. To gather the information

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plastic Surgery
Is plastic surgery a good act to be done or not? The debate is on in the favor and against it from
the time of invention of plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is the making of body parts which are
damaged in accidents or are by birth affected or there could be cosmetic reason. The essay below
is going to discuss whether plastic surgeryis good to be done or not.
Firstly, it is often said that beauty of the person is not his/her appearance, but today the world have
changed and physical appearance has also become important for everyone. The technology has
improved a lot and has provided us with the chance of looking better through plastic surgery. There
are basically five benefits of plastic surgery which are; physical appearance, breathing, posture, ...

Without disagreeing with he fact that plastic surgery has uncountable benefits there are some
disadvantages of plastic surgery as well. The disadvantages of plastic surgery involves the risk
of complications, death and imperfect results. Moreover it is costly, slow healing and people
might get addicted to it. Most people are at risk of getting complications after the plastic surgery
because of their sensitive bodies. The chances of having disease, illness and infection are very
high. Complications can be very hard, for example, paralysis of face or other body parts, heart
rhythm might change to abnormal, airway obstruction, blood clots, damage in brain, heart
attack, etc... The rate of people who die due to plastic surgery is low. The surgery includes the
use of chemicals and tools that causes infection to the person s body. More bleeding, heart attack
and drop in blood pressure are common reasons that lead to death during the plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery does not always turn into what the person was desiring of. Sometimes people
have to revise the plastic surgery to get back their original look due to unlikeable and unexpected
results of first plastic surgery. The number of people going through the revision process of plastic
surgery are increasing day by day due to unexpected and undesired results. Above all that, plastic
surgery is a costly procedure. To have plastic surgery one have to be rich

ORPHEUS
In a land far far away, there lied the huge magical country of Fiore. Fiore was quite special. It was
a land of dragons! Since Fiore was such a vast area that had an unbelievable population, it only
made sense to split the country into sections. These sections were called kingdoms. Each kingdom
had a dragon population that shared a common trait. So for example, there was a kingdom which
had webbed feet dragon. Or there were kingdoms in which dragons had fire breath, ice breath or
water power. Each of these traits was considered major . Each kingdom was named based on the
dragon population s ability. The problem was, every kingdom was quite selfish and wanted a pure
bloodline for its inhabitants. This meant that they wanted their dragons to mingle with other
dragons who only shared their major traits or were from the same kingdom. In the end, their
offspring would only possess the major quality of the kingdom. Dragons were so strict about this
rule, that any dragon born with another major trait other than their kingdom s would get
slaughtered or be shunned by the community. This way of life continued until a rare case occurred

Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson
Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson demonstrated unimaginable leadership skills in
an effort to accomplish their respective agendas. Through the use of moral leadership, King
would rise to become the head of the Civil Rights Movement by means of civil disobedience and
nonviolent resistance. MLK began as a Baptist Minister, but after seeing the difference he could
make in the world, decided to stand up for what he felt was right. Johnson, on the other hand,
used political leadership in order to make a name for himself as President of the United States.

Niebuhr believed that the world was full of evils and oppressions that individuals needed to
fight against. People should not stand back and allow the horrors around them to continue, but
instead fight back in whatever way they can. MLK would take these teachings and apply them
to his ideas of Gandhi s nonviolent protests. Individuals who are in the minority, and thus unable
to take drastic action, would benefit from the use of nonviolence. This strategy would allow
Black Americans to seek justice and equality without truly disturbing the current relationship
with White Americans. King s plan was to allow his religious and political ideals to run on the
same moral edge, something that Reinhold Niebuhr had surely allowed for in his ideology
(Branch, 81 7). Martin Luther King, Jr. was able to use this religious and moral idea of
nonviolence to unite Black Americans who were tired of their oppression. Violence and drastic
action had proven to arguably make their situation worse, meaning that something as different
as peaceful civil disobedience could prove to work. By the time of the 1963 I Have a Dream speech

use it in the pursuit of equality for Blacks (Branch, 881 3). Martin Luther King s Birmingham

Valium Abuse Prescription Drug
Valium is a medicine commonly used for treatment of various degrees of anxiety, but it is also one
of the most commonly abused prescription drugs. Valium has an interesting history, and is an
easily accessible drug, which makes it a commonly abused drug. People prescribed Valium, those
who use it for medicinal purposes only, will remain harmfree from the effects of drugabuse. Once a
person becomes addicted it is very hard for them to stop. There are multiple negative effects on
those who disuse and abuse Valium.
Valium, also known as diazepam, was created in 1960, by a scientist named Dr. Leo Sternbach,

Anthropomorphism in Greek Myth Essay
Paper #1: The role of anthropomorphism in Greek mythology.
God created man in his image, and man, being a gentleman, returned the compliment.
Mark Twain
In his beginning, man was part of nature. He knew little about the causes of natural phenomenon
and certainly knew of no way to control them. This is perhaps the reason for his creation of ritual
and later religion. As man evolved he began to consider the possibilities of gaining some type of
control over his environment. If nature was simply a random set of events ruled only by chaos
than this wouldn t be possible. However, if something or better yet someone was in control, one
could acquire what they desired by pleasing this entity. In the beginning, according to some ... Show

It is obvious therefore that there are, as always seems to be the case, exceptions; however in most
cases the gods are seen as similar to man s image. Aside form the human form, gods speak the
same language as the Greeks and use the same organs to do so, in other words, no telepathy. While
they are able in some cases to reproduce asexually, sexual reproduction seems to be the more often
used method. The asexual reproduction of Gaea produced Uranus, the Mountains, and Pontus. Later
her sexual reproduction with Uranus produced numerous offspring. While the use of sexual
reproduction was human like (obviously not exclusive to humans but still human like), the use of
alternative reproduction was represented in the myths. An example of such an alternative would be
the conception of the Giants and Erinyes by Gaea when the blood of Uranus fell onto her. While
the Greeks seem to have known that human reproduction was related to the sperm entering the
woman, they also seem to think the Gods had ways to bypass this requirement. Going along with
this observation of sperm into woman, they Greeks recognized the woman as the vessel in which
life developed, whether she attributed to this life s origination is another question. However there
are some exceptions to this such as when Zeus eats his pregnant wife, thus becoming the

Turf War Research Paper
The Turf wars
Dick Allen once said, if a horse won t eat it, I don t wanna play on it . There are several reasons
Dick Allen has love for natural grass and resentment for synthetic grass. Climate, cost, and health
of fake grass fields are just three of the many issues in this natural versus turf battle. Some say
synthetic fields may be a solution to countries with less favorable climates but with new modern
technology, plastic fields are not needed. In places where there is a lack of natural light or blatant
cold weather, there are new resolution pathways instead of converting to turf. Lambeau field,

Older turf fields made from nylon or nylon/polyethylene blend fibers can contain levels of lead
that pose a potential public health concern. Excessive exposure to lead, according to the Agency
for Toxic Substances Disease Registry (ATSDR), can lead to toxic affects regardless of the
exposure pathway. Studies have shown when sliding on the sharp plastics of turf rather than
natural grass athletes are seven times more likely to receive a turf burn which in turn increases
their risk of receiving MRSA or a Staphylococcus infection. Another massive concern of health
comes from Amy Griffin, an associate soccer coach at the University of Washington who
discovered two soccer players, which were both goalkeepers, that were diagnosed with cancer.
Goal keeper is a position that frequently dives and is thus almost always in contact with the turf
and as stated before it does not matter the exposure pathway. As Griffin told NBC in 2014 she d

athletes 166 of them soccer players. There are also concerns about more minor problems that
players Alex Morgan, the United States Women s National Team forward has stated, The
achiness, taking longer to recover than on natural grass, the tendons and ligaments are, for me at
least, I feel more sore after turf. It takes longer to recover from a turf field than natural grass.

Natural Law Theorists And Positivist Theorists
To what degree are natural law theorists and positivist theorists accurate in terms of the idea that
an unjust law cannot be a valid law ? In this essay i will assess the accuracy of this statement and
attempt to define the concept of the validity of law in relation to both natural law theorists and
positivist theorists. For the purpose of this essay I will define validity of a law as Having legal
force; effective or binding (The Free Dictionary). The main reason for the continual debate
between both theories is that they are both very similar although they may appear to be at
contrary ends of each spectrum. Natural law theorists believe that in order for a law to be valid
it must have some moral principle therefore if laws which are enacted in statues have no
authority, they are not moral. Whereas positivists support and emphasise the importance of a
division between morality and law. I will begin by outlining both theories. I will then move onto
asses the accuracy of the following statement, An unjust law cannot be a valid law this includes
establishing the similarities and differences of both theories; in order to do this effectively it is
essential that a thorough understanding of both theories has been developed. Finally I will
summarise my findings, An unjust law cannot be a valid law true or false? The first question we
need to address in order to be able to assess this statement is what is natural law? The basic concept
of natural law is that in order for a

The Power Of Technology
Technology has become detrimental to society, and the development of our future generations.
Anyone who uses technology in their daily lives should care about how influential technology has
developed overtime. Currently, technology has become more advanced, and accessible to the
world. It is important for society to understand the negative hindrance of technology, because, too
many of us rely on technology to establish our lives. The general public, should limit the use of
technology, because it is making us stupid. Technology, leads to individuals decline in reading
skills, it damages our cognizance skills, and decreases our ability pay attention. The greater the

Parkinson s Disease And Its Effects
Parkinson s Disease An estimated eight million people are living worldwide with Parkinson s
Disease. Parkinson s is a disease where the nerve cells, called neurons die in your brain. These
neurons that die produce a brain chemical, dopamine which is a neurotransmitter. As the neurons
die or become damaged the lack of dopamine creates the symptoms and disease. The neurons that
die are located in your Substantia Nigra in the brain. The nerve cell affects your entire nervous
system. The neurons transmit information to muscles, gland cells, or other nerve cells all over the
human body. The neurons in your brain are highly important because they transmit nerve signals to

The dendrites of the cell body are branded out in a way to serve as a landing pad for the
information coming into the brain. Also, in Parkinson s no certain organelle is found to have a
higher count than the others. The neurons do not communicate with any other cell besides other
nerve cells. The Society for Neuroscience stated, Dendrites extend from the neuron cell body and
receive messages from other neurons. Synapses are the contact points where one neuron
communicates with another. The dendrites are covered with synapses formed by the ends of
axons from other neurons (2012, April 1). That is how nerve cells communicate with one another
but because nerve cells are in charge of the whole nervous system they don t interact with other
types of cells. Diagnosing a patient early into Parkinson s is difficult because all the symptoms
increasingly get worse. There is a large variety of symptoms a patient may see. The symptoms that
are primary motor skills include a resting tremor, bradykinesia which is slow movement, rigidity
which is the lack of flexibility in your limbs, and postural instability. Secondary Motor symptoms
are freezing, where you feel glued to the ground, micrographia, a shrinkage in handwriting, being
less expressive in the face, and unwanted accelerations like in your speech. Non motor symptoms

strengths of two different types of negotiation particularly, employees subjective evaluations of their
job offer negotiations versus their financial outcomes achieved. The researchers sampled MBA

Dad kept yelling at us. I didn t know why, and it scared all of us. I knew my mom was scared

I believe the mongols were barbaric and don t deserve to have the scale tip in their favor. In the

Jane’s Path to Prosperity Essay
Jane s Path to Prosperity
In The beginning of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte introduces Jane as an orphan girl who is residing
at Gateshead with Mrs. Reed and her children. Bronte walks us through the episodes of Jane s life
as she moves to Lowood, Thronfield, Moor House, and finally to Ferndean. Throughout these
stages, Bronte will show how charity was depicted through the interactions that Jane had. Through
these perspectives we will see that the results of how charity was regarded, based on the nineteenth

Bronte s views on charity are first seen through the actions in the Reed household. Jane is an
orphan girl left to be taken care of by her uncle. However, her uncle passed away when she was
very young and she remains in the custody of the bitter Reeds. The reason as to why they are
bitter is because they are greedy and disregard Jane in all they do. In spite of the fact that she is
poor and has no family that cares for her, they harass and mock her instead of giving her love and
care. From an incident at the beginning of the novel, we can clearly see how Jane is mistreated.
When Jane is a girl of about nine years old, we learn that she has an interest in reading books.
She feels that reading will allow her to experience some of the excitement in the books
considering that she isn t part of the Reed family and is excluded from everything else that they
do. Even by engaging herself with reading some of their books, which were scarcely used by the
Reeds, Jane had to be punished for laying hands on their so called property because in their views,
since she s poor, she s unfit to touch them. We can see how cruel the Reeds are when John
confronts Jane for using their books:

He spent copious amounts of time and effort into creating this human being. He shut out his friends
and family, and gave up his social life and devoted everything to his experiment. Only to abandon
his project when it wasn t what he expected. The abandonment caused the monster to seek
vengeance on his creator, which in turn ruined the life of Victor Frankenstein.
I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then; but when those muscles and joints were

Frankenstein(56) After Frankenstein s seemingly creation comes to life, he suddenly has feelings
of remorse and regret. Even after devoting so much time to his work and basically working
himself sick he is disgusted by what he has created.
Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly

his creator s love and affection. The Monster asks the now deceased Frankenstein why he was
unwanted from the start. This proves that the monster was able to feel emotions of sorrow and pain
after his creator had passed, even though he sought a vengeance against his creator. The monsters
vengeance was never caused by evil but caused by pain and suffering.

Prostitution In Canada Essay
The oldest profession in the world ; this is how prostitution is often defined or referred to.
However, the reality of prostitution in the 21st century is much more complex than it was before.
With the emergence of nation states and democracy, the question of the legal status of prostitution
became an issue now more controversial than ever. In Canada, this question resurfaced in the last
decade with the Bedford case, which eventually led to a change in laws pertaining to prostitution
with Bill 36 in 2014. While the Conservatives supported an abolitionist view on prostitution, their
bill was severely criticized by the opposition parties and many groups defending human rights.
Thus, a critical question arises: should prostitution be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the new legislation is now facing legal challenge on the grounds that it doesn t improve
safety conditions for sex workers, which contravenes to section 7 of the Canadian Charter (Ivison
A1). Still, opposition by the NPD and Liberal Party, Amnesty International and other women s
rights organization was for now unsuccessful in proving the bill to be unconstitutional (Ivison A1).
In order to fully understand the debate created by Bill C 36, we must start be defining some terms
pertaining to prostitution and its legal status. First, there are three main model of intervention when
it comes to prostitution: legalization, decriminalization and criminalization (Phoenix 7).
Legalization is when criminal sanctions are replaced by civil regulation of the contract between
prostitutes and clients, such that prostitution acquires a status similar to another type of
employment (8). Decriminalization refers the repeal of laws prohibiting prostitution without the
institution of civil regulations, such that health and safety legislation become the main regulatory
instrument (8). Finally, criminalization corresponds to the current type of legislation in Canada,
which aims to repress and prohibit prostitution (7). The dubbed Nordic model , or abolitionist
approach, describes a legal approach to prostitution which was applied in Sweden and follows the
model of criminalization, but redefines sex work as a problem of violence

Disagreement Analysis
The statement claims that we learn more from people whose views we share than those whose
views we contradict because disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning. Some people think
that agreement leads to harmony and learning, while disagreement hinders intellectual progress. I
disagree with both the claim and the reason and will discuss situations that illustrate why I consider
the statement misguided.
I disgree with the view that we learn more from those who share our views than those who
contradict it. This comes from my experience being a student in a school in Boston. Although I
believe in the Islamic teachings, I, nonetheless, learned a great deal about science, mathematics,

whether we should raise the minimum wage. My view conflicted that of my colleage who thought
that we should instead abolish the concept of the minimum wage. My reasoning was that increasing
the minimum wage would help the middle class and low income families. But my colleage thought
that from the economic theory of demand and price, an increase in the minimum wage would hurt
small businesses as they would be less profitable to run, and thus would result in an increase in
unemployment. What I learned from our discussion was that even though our views differed
drastically, each of us learned about the other s point of view. The experience was both delightful
and enlightening. Thus, disagreement does not cause stress and inhibit learning. In fact, the
opposite is true; disagreement fosters a learning

Essay on Economic Effects of the Black Plague in England
The high middle ages from the eleventh to the fourteenth century saw the reemergence of urban
life, the revival of long distance commerce, innovation, maturation of manorial agriculture, and a
burgeoning population. Consequently, the fourteenth century spawned war, famine, disease and
economic decay, leading to what many historians believe to be the end of the Middle Ages.
Although there were many contributing factors such as famine, collapsing institutions and war.
Many historians believe the arrival of the Black Deathto Englandin 1348 was the final straw, and
the most impactful agent of change in that area. In a letter to his brother, Petrarch wrote, When has

With depopulation, agricultural and commerce reform and labor force alterations, the effects of
the Black Death in England were dramatic and placed the course of the English economy on a
new path. To gain perspective on the level of economic change in England, it is important to note
and understand the population trends, as it had a directly impacted all aspects of change in
regards to the economic effects of the Black Plague. In simple terms, the number of people had a
direct impact on the most basic categories of the economy: production and consumption. An
expanding population is only possible if it has the economic resources to support it. It seems the
Black Death s impact on population levels actually created a silver lining based on the Malthusian
Theory where English scholar Thomas Malthus claims, [t]hat the superior power of population is
repressed, and the actual population kept equal to the means of subsistence, by misery and vice. As
England was experiencing overpopulation, there was not enough agricultural production to support
the masses, but as the force of the Black Death swept in and decimated the population, it left
England with abundance of land and less people to support, resulting in a balance between
agricultural productivity and consumption. Although the Black Plague created shock, panic and
fear for a few years, this alteration in population left survivors with an optimistic outlook

Rene Descartes Skepticism
Rene Descartes Meditations is known to be one of his most famous works, it has also shown to be
very important in Philosophical Epistemology. Within the meditation s he provides many
arguments that remove pre existing notions, and bring it to the root of its foundation which
Descartes, then will come up with his indubitable foundation of knowledge to defeat any doubt
and to prove God is real. Descartes was a foundationalist , by introducing a new way of knowledge
and with clearing up how people thought about things prior. Descartes took knowledge to its very
foundations, and from there he can build up from it. In this essay, I will be discussing Descartes,
and analyzing his first two meditations and arguing that he does indeed succeed in his argument.
Skepticism is define as an intellectual process of applying reason and critical thinking to validate a
certain point. Skepticism was the very base for Descartes arguments in the first two meditations. He

The whole point of this method is for Descartes to find at least some truth that is way beyond
any questions of doubt. However, what if people doubt that the two plus two does not equal to

Descartes introduces the idea of a malicious god or evil demon who s only goal is to deceive us
no matter what, Descartes says, I will suppose, then, not that there is a supremely good God who
is the source of all truth, but that there is an evil demon, supremely powerful and cunning, who
works as hard as he can to deceive me (Descartes 322.Right Side). Although we all know that two

The Importance Of Rape In The American Civil War
Before the American Civil War, the US was both a provincial and a proprietary colony of England
and directly ruled by the Monarchy. All executive and legislative powers were subjugated to the
statute and royal charters from Britain. The common law had supremacy over punishments, and
local rulings were subject to precedents and stare decisis of superior courts in England.
One sexual crime that was prolific up the civil conflict was rape. There was a statutory
prohibition against abuse, and the punishment could be being banished, fines, public beatings or
marriage between the parties if they were single. There was no provision for the rape of a male.
However, in these moralistic statutes did not extend to slaves who frequently subjected to
sexual exploitation. The law declared slaves to be chattels which were owned and exploited at
the whim of its masters. Rape commonly used to break the will of both male and female slaves
and to increase the slave population for financial gains by masters becoming breeders and selling
the offspring profitably. Challenges to such barbaric behaviors by a slave could result in the
demise of challenger and a separation of families to distant plantations. However, the rape laws and
plantation rules were strictly and severely enforced against the slaves, which saw arbitrary and
cruel punishments being imposed which often was torture and death.
Rape is still as pervasive as it was in the period before the civil war and enactments have target

This film is a comedy teen film directed by Mark Waters who directed movies such as Freaky

Black Death
THE BLACK DEATH
Matthew Brown
P.1
April 17, y
Around 1339 in northwestern Europe, the population was beginning to outgrow the food supply
and a severe economic crisis began to take place. The winters were extremely cold and the
summers were dry. Due to this extreme weather, very low crops yielded and those that grew
were dying. Inflation became a common occurrence and as famine broke out, people began to
worry. The time period of approximately 1339 to 1346 is now known as the famine before the
plague (history). These seven bad years of weather and famine lead to the greatest plague of all
times. In 1347, endemic to Asia, The Black Death began spreading throughout Western Europe.
Over the time of three years, the plague killed one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But there were others they had forgotten...the children. They were by all means frequent receivers
of the disease and it killed them almost instantly or within a few hours . The children in plague
infested towns had premature exposures which allowed for the disease to affect them physically
and mentally. Once infected, the parents of the children would abandon them on the streets instead
because many could not bear to watch them die (Science National Geographic). The females who
contracted the plague were especially disregarded because they could not carry on the family name
for generations to come. The children could not provide for themselves, so they suffered greatly.
As the Church lost spiritual authority, the clergy of the Church began leaving. About sixty
percent of the clergy abandoned their Christian duties and fled. The monasteries and the clergy
suffered the greatest loss (eyewitness). Many of the Churches finest leaders were quitting and
some even moved far away to avoid the problems they were facing. Since many head officials
were parting, the Church panicked and began aggressively recruiting others to fill the ranks. As
the Monks, Nuns, and Friars continued to disappear, the standards for their replacements lowered.
This caused the monasteries to be run by less educated people, leading to a decline of vernacular.
They knew the townspeople felt that the Church had let them down, because any blow suffered by
the Church was also a direct blow

Multinational Market Regions And Market Groups Essay
The Company has set a goal of delivering more than $1 billion in cost savings over the next five
years through global supply chain initiatives designed to achieve economies of scale and reduce
costs by leveraging people, process, and technology (H.J. Heinz Annual Report and 10k, 2010).
Multinational Market Regions and Market Groups Throughout the varying entities of the Heinz
Corporation at least one thing remains constant, high expectations pertaining to corporate and
social responsibility.
Their pride in responsibility, along with their strict outline of rules and business standards, allows
for swift and easy adaptations to local and regional group regulations (such as: NAFTA, the EU,
CAFTA, ASEAN, etc). Although countries and regions have differing health standards and
regulations for food, Heinz avoids complications with the countries respective economic unions or
organizations due to the Company s nature of business. If a firm in the food industry wishes to
compete on world level, the foremost outside force it will contend with and adapt to is culture. One
way in which a country expresses its culture is through food.
Since cultures change from region to region, one can see that it would be virtually impossible for
a firm competing on a global scale to have one product which hails all markets and appeals to
everyone s preferences. Therefore, Heinz does not have one product that it must mold to different
rules and regulations in order to sell it to different markets.

These casual sexual encounters among Malaysian youth have contributed to a social problem that
appears every day in newspaper and mass media. From the period of January until July 2010,
public were shocked, appalled, dismayed by the increasing reported cases of abandoned babies,
some of whom were found dead. This incident indirectly indicated that something is wrong in our
society.
Statistics from the Malaysia Welfare Department from January to April 2010, reported that 111
unmarried young girls were pregnant. The figure, however, is just the tip of the iceberg as
many cases go unreported and pregnancies terminated. It also reported in New Straits Times on
23rd July 2010, the body of a baby girl found in a bag at a bus stop near the Sultan Ismail
Hospital, Johor Bahru in the morning. Also there a baby found buried. New Straits Times on 18th
July 2010, reported that a fetus was found buried by the roadside in Jalan 12, Bandar Puteri
Puchong, Selangor. As mention by the Dr Ismail Thamby in the Bernama on 26 August 2010,
normally young people will not think of the consequences of their actions because they are easily
driven by factors such as influence by pornographic materials on the internet, as well as they lack of

Analysis Of Amusing Ourselves To Death By Neil Postman
Amusing Ourselves to Death, written by Neil Postman analyzes the true meaning of entertainment
and explores how it affects our lives today. Entertainment is the action of providing or being
provided with amusement or enjoyment, (dictionary.com). According to Postman television has had
an extremely negative effect on the public discourse of contemporary America. Postman compares
his book to Aldous Huxley s, Brave New World, which communicates that people are too amused
and are becoming weak and defenseless. In Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the
Age of Show Business, author Neil Postman clearly reflects a negative bias in his analysis against
televisions modern culture, using examples of politics and news.

dove soap or which celebrity came out with a new album. We cannot blame television for the
words now... this for is it not television itself, it is the offspring of the intercourse between
telegraphy and photography, (Postman 100). The concept has grown and become more popular
through television. Postman uses journalist Christine Craft as an example. Christine was fired
from her job as a news anchor in Kansas because she didn t fit hampered viewer acceptance...
viewers do not like looking at the performer, (Postman 101). Postman finds it horrific that people
care more about who s telling the news than the news itself. In addition, introduces the fact that
during news shows music is playing, to create a state of mind and communicate to viewers not to be
alarmed. If there was no music viewers would expect something truly alarming, possibly life
altering (Postman 102). Postman concluding his thoughts about news by saying, the value of news
is determined by the laughs it provides, (Postman 113). Can we survive in a world that cares more
about entertaining it s audience than trying to fix the world and make people more aware of the
problems we face?

As a result, colleges and universities should warn their students not to post inappropriate messages
or photographs that could negatively influence an employer s perception. Many employers are
aware of social networking Web sites, and some use these sites to check for negative attributes of an
applicant. A recent New York Times article highlighted this concern: Now, college career counselors
and other experts say, some recruiters are looking up applicants on social networking sites ... where
college students often post risquГ© or teasing photographs and provocative comments about
drinking, recreational drug use and sexual exploits in what some mistakenly believe is relative
privacy. Because the information posted by students on social networking Web sites is often
publicly viewed, colleges should remind their students that the information they post on these sites
is not private, and that potential employers could use that information to form crucial first
impressions about student applicants. Automation, the third new media principle, relies on
numerical coding and modularity to allow for the automation of many operations involved in media
creation, manipulation, and access. This means, that human intentionality can be removed from the
creative process, at least in part. The main example of automation lies in pre programmed page
layouts for documents and websites like Myspace and Facebook supply. Once logged into the

Women s Status in Islam Essay
Women s Status in Islam In Islam, women and men are equal in terms of their relationship with
Allah. It can be clearly seen that Allah has created men and women differently, this is so that they
may fulfil different purposes in life. It is not a question of the superiority of one gender over
another, rather it is a matter of role differentiation. Islamteaches that men and women complement
one another and are both equally important. On the other hand, this is not the case is many cultures
and traditions; before and after Islam, the status of woman throughout much of the world was...

This is verified in the following hadith reported by Al Bukhari
A man came to the Prophet (s) and asked him: O Messenger of Allah, who among the people s
worthy of my good company? The prophet said, Your mother . The man asked, Then who? The
Prophet (s) again said, Your mother . The man asked, Then who? The Prophet again said, Your
mother. The man asked, Then who? The Prophet said, Then your father.
This not only shows that a mother is far more respected than other women, but also, far superior to
a father. A woman, only as a woman, is seen only equal to man, but certainly not greater, if not
slightly inferior in some circumstances.
Furthermore, the Quran also emphasises and makes people realise that their mothers bore them in
pain, and that they should respect and be grateful to their mothers because of that:
And we have enjoined on men (to be good) to his parents: in weakness upon weakness did his
mother bear him...
Partly because of this, motherhood is regarded as a most noble and honourable calling in Islamic
society. Women have been given the role of motherhood because Allah has blessed them with the
maternal instinct enables them to take care of children. This is supported in the Quran:
Moreover, the Quran has a special recommendation for good treatment of mothers.
Mothers have great respect and honour in Islam

How Did Richard Daley Become Mayor
Introduction Richard Joseph Daley was mayor for about six terms and he deserved to be the
mayor. He would go through struggles, achievements, the stress of having so many elections, and

experiences shape him to become mayor? Richard Daley was most known for politics and working
with budgets. He expressed those hobbies while mayor. Daley was a very extraordinary man and
mayor, without him Chicagoprobably wouldn t be the same and neither would politics.
This is the definition of mayor:
Noun:
1.the chief executive official, usually elected, of a city, village, or town
2.the chief magistrate of a city or borough
Family and Friends Richard J. Daley was born on May 15, 1902. He was an only child and his
parents were Catholic. Daley s parents made him become an altar boy which is like a priest s

Innocence Of The Lamb By William Blake
Innocence of the Lamb The Lamb is one of William Blake s famous poems from his book Songs
of Innocence published in 1789. The Lamb is also known as Little Lamb but better known by
the former name. This poem is a didactic poem reflecting spirituality from a Christian point of
view. The Lamb is a question and an answer type of poem and has a sense of innocence as the
speaker is a child questioning a lamb s existence. In The Lamb William Blakeuses metaphor,
symbolism and imagery to express Jesus Christ and His relationship with the world. The Begin,
William Blake was born in London on November 28, 1757 to a middle class family. He was taken
out of school at a young age by his mother and started taking drawing classes and reading poetry.
His parents were involved with the Anglican Church at a portion of Blake s life and this
religious background stayed with him. He found his inspiration from the Bible as is shown
throughout his work. At the age of fifteen Blake became an apprentice to James Basire and for
seven years he worked in London engraving images from churches and architecture, this formed
his specific artistic style later in life. In 1782 Blake married Catherine Boucher and he taught her
how to read and write. In 1783 Blake published his first work Poetical Sketches. Five years later,
in 1788, Blake made an important artistic discovery with the invention of relief etching, this
process became the primary format for the majority of Blake s work. This

In a way, it s nice to know there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame

brings misfortune to unsuspecting civilians but here are other reasons why we have bad days. The
answer lies deep within our subconscious minds.
THE ENNEAGRAM The Enneagram is an ancient Muslim tool describing nine types of

The Wings Wings bring lift to animals so as they may fly. In the study of the Enneagram, the
wings are the adjacent types to your core type. Each person has two wings but the balance
between these two to the core type varies from person to person. The wings may be more potent
than the core. They may be hidden or be proportioned. The wings exist to introduce a person s
alternate self or his other side. Wings may improve the core personality or contradict it completely.
The whole idea of wings merely points out that personality fluctuate and explain how a person may
does not act consistently.
The Arrows From the diagram shown before, we find arrowheads at the end of the line. In the
Enneagram, there are arrows of integration and disintegration. Integration, as defined in a
dictionary, is the idea of blending something into a whole while disintegration duly means the
opposite.
Arrows like the wings affect the core personality type only that arrows are triggered with the
person s state of mind or stress level. When stressed, as strained or due to certain circumstances
leaves the mind in tumultuous bearings, the person would exhibit the arrow of disintegration or
the type which points to your core type. Here, a person acquires the sin of the arrow or the
negative attributes of that type. This is why the arrow of disintegration is also referred to as the
negative arrow. For the arrow of integration, a person is calm or relaxed in his present state

  • 2. The Revolutions Of The Celestial Orbs By Nicolaus... The texts The Revolutions of the Celestial Orbs by Nicolaus Copernicus and Two New Sciences by Galileo demonstrates a powerful illustration of heliocentric hypothesis. In each book, astronomer Nicolas Copernicus and Scientist Galileo Galilei describes their theory and assumption about the motion and shapes of the planets and objects based on their understandings and advocating earlier scientist s thoughts. Nicolas Copernicus describes Sun as the center of the universe, which is spherical in shape and other planets(wanderers), which are also spherical revolve around the sun in a Uniform, Eternal, and Circular motion. Likewise, Galileo defines the motion of massive bodies (planets) are steady and uniform, and distance traveled by these bodies are equivalent at equal intervals of time. However, in Idols of the Mind, Francis Bacon demonstrated that there were flaws in the assumptions made by the scientists because they conducted the practical experiments and theories based on their own understanding. According to his scientific investigations, past scientific thinkers used tests and experiments based on their thoughts, which he thinks corrupts the nature of things as they try to compound their nature with it. Copernicus and Galileo commit errors by demonstrating theories and performing experiments based on the human understandings of themselves and other scientists, like Aristotle. However, because this leads to the corruption of a more natural way of thinking, Francis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They need to take care of the people of a country and to make them happy at all times. Prime Ministers need to have really good leadership skills and need to make the best decisions for the country. If one Prime Minister has failed to accomplish to improve a country, someone else has to be elected. But for Jean Chretien, this has not been the case. Jean Chretien was one of Canada s most important people in its history. He improved Canada s economy. He was mostly famous for being Canada s 20th Prime Minister for 10 years. Additionally, he supported war but he wouldn t send troops to Iraq because of the United Nations resolution. Back in 2001, Canada was dependant with United States of America. When America got attacked by the terrorist group Al Queda, Chretien was worried because it s been the first time since World War 2 that the American border has been a huge problem. It was a problem because Canada needed the American exports. Chretien wanted to help America but the Canadian troops had very little recourses and a weak army. • 4. Self Dehumanization Power allows people to control outcomes with respect to both the environment and the self . This control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We based the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces self dehumanization. The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Ageto the Iron Age today we are living in an ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital necessities in our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited part of day. But now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by inventing electricity illuminated the whole world. Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find ourselves completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all comforts of life and life would be completely different in absence of it. We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it is now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with coolers, airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The ... In order to successfully design a matrix organization, though, a few key considerations need to be planned for. First, informal communication channels need to be developed and leadership needs to watch for any signs of organizational silos. Effective communication among the dimensions of the matrix structure is essential for a successful implementation. A great deal of this communication is informal in nature, leading to voluntary coordination among employees. Informal communication relies on personal networks and relationships built on trust. One barrier to informal communication is organizational silos. Leaders must break down these silos whenever possible (Galbraith, 2010, p.6). Next, it is important for cross departmental goal achievement that the rewards be aligned for all areas. The goals of the different matrix dimensions must be aligned to work together. The more dimensions that exist, the more likely it is that fragmentation will occur (Galbraith, 2010, p.6). Lastly, since the unity of command is no longer in existence, i.e., there are essentially two bosses (functional and product managers) there needs to be absolute clarity in the work priorities. • 6. New York s Fresh Kills Landfill The city that never sleeps also happens to be a city that has an enormous garbage problem that it needs to solve. Whether this problem it be due to a mismanagement of resources from the beginning or stemming from the throw away culture of today, New York is in a situation where its trash is piling up and it s pawning it off on others to discard of it. New York City, like most cities across the United Sates utilizes landfills to dispose of their waste. Fresh Kills Landfillopened in 1948 and was only intended to be a temporary landfill used for 20 years, however by 1955 it became the largest landfill in the world as it was turned into New York s primary dumping ground for the second half of the 20th century. At the peak of operation Fresh Kills was receiving twenty barges carry 650 tons of waste each and every day. In March of 2001 Fresh Kills reached capacity and with the urging of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and local residents it was shut down. That left a big question for the Department of Sanitation as to what to do with New York City and its surrounding boroughs trash? (Fresh Kills Park Alliance)... The long term plan introduced is to reduce costs drastically increasing recycling which in turn will reduce waste and to build a waterfront transfer system in order to be less dependent upon the highly polluting diesel trucks and use barges hauling containers to ship garbage and also trains to transfer the waste. • 7. Uncle Tom Stereotypes In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype? According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed, hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled Uncle Tom Mania: Slavery Minstrelsy, and Transatlantic Culture in the 1850 s Sarah Meer discusses how the Tom was divisive in nature, intended to be ... • 9. Native Americans During The 20th Century Throughout the history of America the thought of assimilation has been fought for and against. Many people, such as the Native Americans, were forcibly stripped of their culture and Americanized. Others, such as the German Americans, willingly assimilated in political views but tried to hold onto their culture. All of these situations lead to hatred from white Americans at some point throughout our history. The Native Americans during the westward expansion, German Americans during WWI, and Japanese immigrants during WWII. Even though some of these people had already assimilated, the fear that remained constant was the belief that people of different races and ethnicities were savages. That other cultures were an affront and could not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His belief was that if they accept God and the rules of a civilized community they would become useful members of American life. Pratt spoke to reformers of the time about the importance of citizenizing Native Americans, he believed they were savages but not a lost cause. Pratt talked in detail about the previous misguided attempts to change the Indians. He said that there is no way for an Indian to understand civilized life if they are still living in a savage land (Pratt, 39) and that Native Americans would accept the schooling and give up their savage lifestyle and false gods. He talks about how to integrate the Native Americans, but not how to leave their land alone. Chief Joseph did not seem to want to give up his way of life and only wanted his tribe s small portion of land. For someone to make real change they must want to change themselves. What Pratt is proposing to do instead is force the Native Americans to assimilate. Pratt points out that you can t make a German American unless he is in America where he could learn and accept the customs of America (Pratt, 38). This takes away the German s choice to come to America or not, and the ones who did assimilate still tried to hold onto parts of their culture until WWI. • 10. The Signs Of Shopping By Malcolm Gladwell To be successful in a capitalistic government, you must be willing to step on the heads of those who are below you, and claim their successes as your own. Advertisements within our capitalistic culture act as a way to force the customer into buying what the corporate overlords want you to buy. Anne Norton, author of The Signs of Shoppingis a heavily published author, and has earned many awards in her field. In her essay, she explains how businesses use advertisement techniques to increase the profits in a retail store. Malcolm Gladwell, the author of The Science of Shopping is a staff writer for the New Yorker. In his essay, he explains how Paco Underhill, a retail expert, taught many Forbes 500 companies how to create more opportunities to up sale to their customers. Norton shows how malls and other shopping outlets only want one demographic to shop in their stores, and Gladwell shows how stores utilize their internal structure to make more money. Both utilize a negative tone toward the businesspractices shown in the articles, and demonstrate the manipulation of the consumer with the usage of imagery within advertisements to show that capitalism is unethical. Manipulation of consumers in stores and other establishments, is at a new high. Capitalism acts as the encouragement to large corporations to use these controversial practices. Norton uses blunt language and Gladwell explains the significance of retail to show how capitalism encourages manipulation. Norton used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Entering International Markets Essays Entering International Markets Measuring a potential business venture has many aspects which the international manager must be aware of in order to convey the correct information back to the decision makers. Being ignorant to any of the aspects can lead to a false representation of the project, and hence an uninformed decision being passed. In order for a business to survive it must grow. For growth to be optimal, management must first be able to identify the most attractive prospective leads. The country as a whole, specifically geography, government, and financial aspects must be looked at in order to yieldthe best possible picture of the market a company wishes to enter. Concentration should be placed on gathering reliable facts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After sifting through the leads and finding the right ones to investigate management must formulate an international marketing plan. This further helps management in locating potential markets for their products. The first step is to use secondary research to find out what the sales potential is in a given market. Asking the questions of need, demand, and support gives one a starting point for research. If we were a company that sold pants we might want to ask the following questions. Is there a need for pants? Is it cold enough there to wear pants? Do people that demand the pants have money? These are the questions that one should ask of potential markets. Table 1 located at the end of the paper shows the statistics that are needed for a general market picture. After gathering the information from the secondary research, the picture of a potential market becomes more evident. However, to make the picture clearer, one must conduct primary research. This research outlines the specifics of the potential market that directly pertain to the product. Robert Douglas book, Penetrating the International Market, addresses the issue of locating potential markets in greater detail.2 [mg1] After finding a lead that contains profitable markets it is necessary to analyze the venture as a whole. The decisions of companies must be based on the facts of reliable sources on all investments. To gather the information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a study by Curhan, Elfenbein, Kilduff (2009), focuses on the effects of job offer negotiations on employees succeeding levels of satisfaction and intentions to remain at the company. Furthermore, the researchers compare the corresponding predictive strengths of two different types of negotiation particularly, employees subjective evaluations of their job offer negotiations versus their financial outcomes achieved. The researchers sampled MBA graduates who negotiated their full time job offers and examined their subjective negotiation experience and tangible concessions as predictors of their job satisfaction, compensation satisfaction, and intention to remain within their organizations 1 year later (p 525). The findings from this research study conclude that the subjective value incoming employees achieved during their first job negotiation significantly correlates with compensation satisfaction. Furthermore, early negotiation in careers is significant in determining the future level of success at the company. In addition, people value opinions on the people who they value so if the company values the person they will value the company. Makes it sound peaceful, which for the most part it wasn t. It s not something I want to look back on and remember for the rest of my life, but something that significant left an imprint in my memory. To be more precise, it s branded there. I may not remember every moment I had with my biological parents, but I know my dad was always on a short fuse, and one day, he blew up. When my mom ran to my dad and pulled on his arm to get him away from Gavin, he pushed her against the wall and screamed what sounded to me like bad words. When I ran between them saying, Mommy, daddy, don t fight, dad picked me up and threw me onto Gavin, who d just gotten off the ground from his first strike. Dad kept yelling at us. I knew my mom was scared because she crawled across the floor behind dad, to the coffee table just feet from her, and swiped the little silver bottle she always carried around with her. After she scrambled back to her corner and took a drink from it (the bottle, which I later learned was called a flask) she looked to Gavin and me with big, sorrowful eyes. In the first slide it says the streets were filled with human flesh and fat, from women, children, and adults regardless if they were a combatant or not. Another example would be the city of Riazan, it was razed to the ground and it s inhabitants were all massacred, only a few were left alive to spread the message. It s widely known that if you refused to surrender then the whole city would be massacred and raised to the ground. They had discipline and often implemented psychological warfare into their tactics, I.E. attacking a city non stop so the defenders get no sleep or raising a city to the ground to send a message. Bronte s views on charity are first seen through the actions in the Reed household. Jane is an orphan girl left to be taken care of by her uncle. However, her uncle passed away when she was very young and she remains in the custody of the bitter Reeds. The reason as to why they are bitter is because they are greedy and disregard Jane in all they do. In spite of the fact that she is poor and has no family that cares for her, they harass and mock her instead of giving her love and care. From an incident at the beginning of the novel, we can clearly see how Jane is mistreated. When Jane is a girl of about nine years old, we learn that she has an interest in reading books. She feels that reading will allow her to experience some of the excitement in the books considering that she isn t part of the Reed family and is excluded from everything else that they do. Even by engaging herself with reading some of their books, which were scarcely used by the Reeds, Jane had to be punished for laying hands on their so called property because in their views, since she s poor, she s unfit to touch them. In order to fully understand the debate created by Bill C 36, we must start be defining some terms pertaining to prostitution and its legal status. First, there are three main model of intervention when it comes to prostitution: legalization, decriminalization and criminalization (Phoenix 7). Legalization is when criminal sanctions are replaced by civil regulation of the contract between prostitutes and clients, such that prostitution acquires a status similar to another type of employment (8). Decriminalization refers the repeal of laws prohibiting prostitution without the institution of civil regulations, such that health and safety legislation become the main regulatory instrument (8). Finally, criminalization corresponds to the current type of legislation in Canada, which aims to repress and prohibit prostitution (7). The dubbed Nordic model , or abolitionist approach, describes a legal approach to prostitution which was applied in Sweden and follows the model of criminalization, but redefines sex work as a problem of violence ... In simple terms, the number of people had a direct impact on the most basic categories of the economy: production and consumption. An expanding population is only possible if it has the economic resources to support it. It seems the Black Death s impact on population levels actually created a silver lining based on the Malthusian Theory where English scholar Thomas Malthus claims, [t]hat the superior power of population is repressed, and the actual population kept equal to the means of subsistence, by misery and vice. As England was experiencing overpopulation, there was not enough agricultural production to support the masses, but as the force of the Black Death swept in and decimated the population, it left England with abundance of land and less people to support, resulting in a balance between agricultural productivity and consumption.
