Anne Bradstreet s Pre-Civil War Poetry
When reading Pre Civil War works, readers may have a preconception that the works may be difficult
to decipher and view them as archaic; however this is clearly not the case. The works are written in
modern English, and therefore, readers can still understand the overall, general concept even if they
cannot decipher each and every word. When reading the Salinas and Cherokee creation stories,
Columbus s Letter, and the works of Samuel de Champlain, the works can be read with ease. The
overall concept/ message may be difficult to understand at times, but to read each of the works can be
done effortlessly. Although the majority of the works assigned this week are easy to understand and
read, Anne Bradstreet s poetry may be considered a tad more difficult to comprehend, because her
poetry is written in a quatrain and the language gives off a flowerily ... Show more content on

To recap, Champlain is retelling the story of when he took an expedition through Canada and
Newfoundland. Throughout his journey, he explores the Canadian wilderness, lakes, and rivers, and he
collects data to help create his maps. Champlain uses imagery to describe the landscape and its
inhabitants when he writes, In it are many beautiful low islands covered with very fine woods and
meadows with much wild fowl and animals to hunt, such as stags, fallow deer, fawns, roebucks, bears,
and other kinds of animals which come from the mainland to these islands (first paragraph second
sentence). Champlain uses this imagery and detail to help create his maps of Canada, which are later
published in his book Voyage and Les Voyages de la Nouvelle France occidentale, dicte Canada and

Fight Or Flight Response
The Effect of Suffering on the Human Psyche
The Holocaust: A genocide in which six million Jews died, still remembered today as the single most
grotesque massacre in human history. For most, the concept of Hitler s rise to power, the building of
his strength, and the process by which his orders were carried out remains an unimaginable concept.
In the mind, laws of morality don t bend. In looking at the Holocaust, one has to wonder how so many
managed to break the rules of humanity so quickly. The easiest answer questions the existence of
ethical laws at all. Although others consider the vast majority who did not fall victim to Hitler s power
to simply be better people, a consensus of Germany pre war reveals that they were not miniature
bigots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to some, a conscience is a stronger power than the human instincts that stayed put over
years of evolution (Anonymous, ... Powerful Motivator ). It is considered a knowledge of ourselves, or
awareness of moral principles... (Giubilini, Conscience ). Allegedly, all humans are born with a sense
of morality, or else how does the world turn round? But the truth is that the conscience is not
something that anyone is born with. Rather, conscience will always require points of reference which
can be acquired through education and moral training. (Berg, What is Moral Conscience? ). Inner
integrity must be taught, for children do not know how the world functions. If a conscience is not
taught, it may not exist at all. For Alfons Heck, Hitler Youth leader, his ethical side diminished under
the weight of his high position in the ranks. It was astonishing how fast these kids grew up under such
tremendous pressure, (Ayer et al. 113) says he. As the adolescents in the army bonded over wartime
struggles and mass death, it could be said that members of the Hitler Youth had their morals worn
away by those that reigned over them in an effort to further the Nazi cause. Furthermore, in the Nazi
party, many felt that the conscience didn t exist. Hitler himself said, Conscience is a Jewish invention,
it is a blemish... (Rauschning et al.

Influence of Indian Warfare on the Development of the United States Army
Throughout history, when two or more armed groups oppose one another in battle, certain tactics are
transferred from one to the other. These tactics are usually perceived by either group as superior to
their own. This process of transferring tactics often occurs over a length of time, and usually
encompass a number of conflicts between the groups. This is a natural phenomenon for armed forces
that mimics the Darwinian Theory of Evolution; the strongest survive, the weak die. For a group to
become the strongest in armed conflict, it must employ superior tactics and doctrine over its enemy.
One method that an armed force uses to become stronger is to adapt the ... Show more content on

The militia was strictly a local institution to a colony s townships or counties. They consisted of males
usually between the age of sixteen and sixty, who were obliged to keep weapons in their homes and be
prepared to be called in the event of Indian attack. Periodically throughout the year, the militias were
called to train at their local county or town seat (Bell 28). Although the local militia trained together,
they rarely fought together. Whenever a colony was threatened, the government of the colony directed
the militia commander of the locality that was threatened to assemble his men. This commander
would then muster the most able of his militia, usually the youngest, in the number he thought he
would need. This was also similar to the process used to form a militia for an expedition into Indian
country. Upon completion of the defense of the colony or the expedition, the men would immediately
disband and return to their homes (Bell 29).
In the early days of the militias, though the value of their training was minimal in respect to that of
their contemporary European professionals, the militiamen were competent Indian fighters. This was
due in part to the nature of frontier life. Males were required to develop skill in the use of firearms
from an early age, as hunting was the primary source of food in

Emotions in Negotiations
We negotiate every day for different purposes, and each day we experience emotions, both positive
and negative. When negotiating, formally or informally, with family or in the organizational
workplace we often do not know how to handle ourselves, yet alone the emotions of the other person
or group. As educated people, we often try to ignore the influence of emotions on decision making.
Neuroscience evidence now shows that sound and rational decision making is contingent on prior
accurate emotional processing. The basis for this is the somatic marker hypothesis. The somatic
marker hypothesis provides a systems level neuroanatomical and cognitive framework for decision
making, the impact, and influence on it by emotions. The key idea of this hypothesis is that decision
making is a process that is influenced by marker signals that arise in bio regulatory processes, which
includes those that express themselves in emotions and feelings. This influence can occur at multiple
levels of operation, some of which occur consciously and some of which occur non consciously
(Bechara Damasio, 2000). Essentially, somatic markers are associations of stimuli that induce an
associated physiological affective state. We may feel embarrassed; have muscle contractions,
experience a heart rate increase, endocrine release, posture, and facial expression changes. These are
all a result of somatic marker interpretation. The physiological change occurs in the brain and is
relayed to the

Compare And Contrast Hamlet Movies
The 1990 film version of Hamlet by Franco Zeffireni and the 1996 version by Michael Almereyda are
very different form on another as they both put the play into perspective in different lights with the
time they are set in. The 1990 version is set in the 14th to 15th century whereas the 1996 version is set
in 1990 s to 2000 s. The time the films are set in makes a huge difference to how different the versions
are, as it changes almost everything about the film. From the props that are used to the way the
characters interact with each other. The two film versions of Hamlet are drastically different from one
another all due to the time they are set in.
The biggest impact that the time of the film is the settings. The 1990 version is set in Denmark
whereas the 1996 is set in New York City. This changes many things about the movies. In the old
version there are castles, dungeons, and old looking architects. But in the modern day one there are
high rises, museums, apartments, offices, and swimming pools. The settings change how the scenes
go, for example in the modern version Ophelia dies by drowning in a water fountain where as ... Show

the settings also affected how the scenes went down, for instance in the old version Polonious was
killed by a sword but in the modern version he was killed with a gun. Also the type of transportation in
the old version was horses but in the modern one they used cars. Also in the modern version when
there was news it would be on the news channel on the television or the radio but in the old version
the news had to get around by people talking. So the things that happened in the scenes was based on
the props they had and the props was based on the time it was set

Impact Of Reflection On Student Learning
a. How did your lesson impact student learning?
What I taught them prepared them for continued learning on animal classification and prepared them
to start plant classification because the familiarity of classification as a whole. In my lesson I
incorporated a phenomenon discussion to get the students to start thinking scientifically by
questioning. I used a PowerPoint in order to focus the students attention and to visualize the topic I
was discussing. The use of the instructional model impacted student learning through being an
important resource for the students. The students had a reference to see how to convey information in
written form or how to write expository writings. Having the model allowed the students to be more
comfortable with informational writing and to be able to focus on understanding the content. The
prewriting graphic organizer was used in order for the students to be able organize their ideas and
know what they are writing about before they begin their rough draft. This impacted student learning
by helping them produce a better and more thought out writing. My plan was for the students to listen
to the book being read and be able to get the majority of the information from my reading, which was
also projected on the board. This was not the reality and the students needed the photocopied versions
of the book to finish their prewriting. This turned out to better support the learners by having that
resource available and the students were then able to

The Life Of James Madison Essay
The Life of James Madison

3rd Period Abstract In my paper I will state and explain the least known aspects of James Madison.
James Madison contributed to some of the most simple and complex events that have not been
recognized. For his job well done, I am willing to make those aspects known. The Life of James
Madison James Madison, also known as The Father on the Constitution , contributed to quite a few
intellectual events in the United States. Madison was an intelligent man with bright ideas that helped
this country become the one it is today. With all his appearances to debates, committee meetings, and
being elected in conventions, he was able to present us the federal government we have today and
some of our basic rights. James Madison s life and times, before, during, and after presidency is now
becoming more well known and interpreted. James Madison was born on March 16, 1751, in Port
Conway, Virginia, to Colonel James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Rose Conway. Madison and his siblings
grew up into the Christian religion since his family was very religious. James had eleven other siblings
and was the oldest out of them all. All his siblings were outgoing and playful, but James was the most
fragile out of all his siblings due to Epileptoid Hysteria. Epileptiod Hysteria is a sickness that causes

Family Secrets In Alison Bechdel s Fun Home
As I read Fun Home, often reading chapters more than once, I had quite a few questions floating
around inside my head. Alison Bechdel dedicates her memoir to Mom, Christian, and John. We did
have a lot of fun, in spite of everything . I found it odd that she didn t include her father in this as well.
After all, without her father, she would not have had much of a story. He was the glue that held the
whole dysfunctional family together and it was his mysterious and depraved manner that compelled
me to turn each twisted page. Bechdel also mentions her family again in the acknowledgments at the
end of her book, Thanks to Helen, Christian, and John Bechdel for not trying to stop me from writing
this book . This brought up the question, what does her family think about her writing her
autobiography? Alison exposes many intensely personal family secrets in her ... Show more content on

The only thing I wasn t a huge fan of was Bechdel s exorbitant vocabulary throughout the entire 232
pages of her book. Reading through each chapter took a lot of stop and go on my part. I found myself
taking short breaks to define pretentious sentences Alison compounded in an attempt to elevate her
comic book autobiography to a higher intellectual level. For example, in chapter four, Alison
remembers a trip to New York City with her brothers and Roy. Alison recalls, And while I
acknowledge the absurdity of claiming a connection to that mythologized flashpoint...might not a
lingering vibration, a quantum particle of rebellion, still have hung in the humectant air (104). Another
example appears in chapter five, Alison states, And my father s life was a solipsistic circle of self,
from autodidact to autocrat to autocide (140). I m all for prodigious words (see Alison, I can use them
too) but maybe scale it back a little. I ve read and watched a few interviews she has given and she

Forecasting Best Practices
Forecasting Best Practices
Effective demand planning and sales forecasting across the supply chain can bring a host of benefits.
Specifically, it can help improve labor productivity, reduce head count, cut inventories, and speed up
production flows, and increase revenues and profits. Edward J. Marien

Sara Lee has also seen improvements thanks to an updated forecasting system. Professional demand
planners and updated software tools has allowed them to progress. Previously, marketing had control
of sales and financial forecasts and little attention was paid to them. Therefore, high amounts of safety
stock and high amounts of stockouts ensued. By developing a demand planning group Sara Lee was
able to get the appropriate people resources needed for good forecasting. They also were careful not to
involve new technology that would disrupt the process already in place. With the new technology and
demand planners in place, the company was able to get inputs from product managers and field sales
people. With their incoming data automatically integrated into the demand planning software, they can
forecast from the SKU level up to the family level. Field sales people are now being asked to forecast
for the next four months for the largest customer because they have immediate access to the people
and therefore, the best view of the marketplace. Forecast accuracy is up approximately 51%, and
perfect order fill rates are in around 93%. Continuous improvements are now much easier to attain as
they now have good metrics and can see current trends. Scotts

Tragic Heroes Are Shaped By Modern Society
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes What makes someone a hero? When hearing the word hero,
people always imagine different things. Some may think of a superhero such as Spiderman or Batman
or even Superman. While some people may imagine a stranger who showed bravery in a time of need
or someone who takes their time every day devoting themselves to helping others. However, many
people do not imagine the tragic heroes Macbeth and Hamlet. One might think that Superman and
Hamlet are opposites and share no characteristic. However, tragic heroes from the Renaissance period
and heroes from today s times are similar, no matter how society changes the meaning of the word
hero. According to Dictionary.com, the word hero is described as, a person noted for courageous acts
or nobility of character (Dictionary. com). A hero, in today s society, is known as someone who is
recognized for bravery and compassion. Heroic traits today are things such as courage, responsibility,
dedication, compassion, selflessness, and humility. Heroes are usually looked up to for their actions
and have overcome something difficult at some point in their life. Heroes are selfless and caring, and

The Usa Patriot Act And The Homeland Security Act
September 11, 2001 is a date that will live on forever in American history, much like the date of
December 7, 1941. As President Franklin D. Roosevelt stated it is a date, which will live in infamy.
The fear and the need to protect the country and its citizens from future terrorist attacks resulted in the
U.S. Government to enact two different policies. The Uniting and Strengthening America by
Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorist Act (also known as the USA
PATRIOT Act) and the Homeland Security Act. Many individual feel that these two policies have

Objectives Of Six Sigma
SIX SIGMA:
Six Sigma means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined and
data driven approach or methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard deviations
between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process , from manufacturing to
transactional and from product to service. The statistical representation of Six Sigma describes
quantitatively how a process is performing. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more
than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A defect is defined as any process output that does not meet
customer specifications. The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the
implementation of a measurement based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation

Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920 s when
Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma from the mean is the point where a process requires
correction. Many measurement standards (Cpk, Zero Defects, etc.) later came on the scene but credit
for coining the term Six Sigma goes to a Motorola engineer named Bill Smith. (Incidentally, Six
Sigma is a federally registered trademark of Motorola).
In the early and mid 1980s with Chairman Bob Galvin at the helm, Motorola engineers decided that
the traditional quality levels measuring defects in thousands of opportunities didn t provide enough
granularity. Instead, they wanted to measure the defects per million opportunities. Motorola developed
this new standard and created the methodology and needed cultural change associated with it. Six
Sigma helped Motorola realize powerful bottom line results in their organization in fact, they

LH Mouse Model
Comparative analysis of LH levels and pulse frequency in mouse models
Abstract:
Estrogen is the primary female sex hormone and is responsible for the development and regulation of
the female reproductive system and of secondary sex characteristics. Produced primarily by the
ovaries, estrogen binds to and activates estrogen receptor beta (ER) a nuclear receptor. Estrogen plays
an important role in the hypothalamic pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis by acting on gonadotropin
releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons located within the hypothalamus. In females, a cyclic reversal of
estrogen feedback produces a positive feedback loop at both the hypothalamic and pituitary levels.
This is coupled with an increase in pituitary sensitivity to GnRH, which produces the massive surge of
luteinizing hormone (LH) that triggers ovulation. However, LH is not only secreted during this surge it
is secreted in a pulsatile manner otherwise. This paper will focus on the implications on LH pulsatility
by knocking out ER, as well as by removing the ovaries.

In both the male and female, the coordinated actions of hormones from the hypothalamus, anterior
pituitary, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Estrogen has a bimodal effect on the hypothalamus with both inhibitory and stimulatory influences on
GnRH secretion. The stimulatory effect of estrogen is seen at the end of the follicular phase where
estrogen triggers the preovulatory GnRH surge. The ability of estrogen to induce a surge declines with
age in female rodents and women. This appears to be due in large part to a decrease in estrogen
induction of GnRH neurons, particularly in rodents. The inhibitory effect of estrogen on GnRH
secretion and GnRH gene expression has been show in in in vivo studies indicating that estrogen
inhibits GnRH pulse amplitude in the early follicular and luteal phase of the

Bacterial Transformation ( Escherichia Coli )
Bacterial Transformation (Escherichia coli)

November 11, 2014
Introduction According to Medicine.net (2012), genetic transformation is a process by which the
genetic material carried by an individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign/exogenous
DNA into its genome. Competent cells are able to accept DNA presented by experimental influence or
manipulation, and the application of genetic engineering with bacteria can aid in the fight against
diseases, allowing individuals to maintain their lifestyles without the threat of certain illnesses like
heart disease, cancer or hereditary disorders (McPhersson 2008). Plasmid DNA are small circular
double stranded helixes, and present in the plasmid are ampr (selectable marker gene) and GFP (Green
Florescent Protein), (BIO RAD 2010).
Figure 1: Illustrates the bacterial plasmid of E. Coli showing the select marker gene and the color

The Friar s Tale Of Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales...
Payton Walker Mr. Abel British Lit/comp. 7 November 2016 The Friar s Tale Many pilgrims in
Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales held a religious position. Some of these people s personal ideas
have caused debates and criticism over Chaucer s opinion of the Catholic Church. Critics have
discussed the ideas that were presented both subtly and openly. Two of the pilgrims and their tales will
be discussed: the Prioress and the Pardoner. Both of these tales offer points of criticism in the Catholic
Church. The Prioress introduces herself as being like a child who does not know many words. She is
going to try to tell a tale as best as she can. This child like language can be seen through the whole
tale. The Prioress speaks her tale in a fluent, sweet tone. Her innocence, like a child s, can be seen as
she tells her tale. To see the entire criticism of the Prioress s tale, the General Prologue must first be
recounted. The Prioress was described as a very correct lady; all of her actions showed a very refined
lady. She was also portrayed as being very sympathetic, She wolde wepe, if that she saugh a mous
kaught in a trappe, if it were deed or bledde. (lines 144 146) She was sentimental enough to feed
animals the best food she had. Thus, the Prioress was presented as a very compassionate, well
mannered lady. However, in her tale, the Prioress has an obvious dislike for the Jewish. She relates
them to the devil, Our firste foo, the serpent Sathanas, that hath in Jues herte his

There is a focus on storytelling as a means of healing: It is the story of my childhood. Now I tell it to
you, Xavier, to keep you alive. (35) We are introduced to Rabbit [The nickname of Niska s sister
(Xavier s mother)], as well as Niska s mother. They live in conical lodges called askinkans, which we
call teepees. Niska has inherited her father s ability to foretell the future, usually through epileptic fits
that isolate her from the rest of her community. The central story is of Niska s early adolescence. It is
the winter during which she enters puberty. Her Oji Cree Anishnabe clan of roughly 30 people still
live near Hudson s Bay, in the wilderness. The winter is a harsh one, with few animals to trap and eat.
They are reluctantly forced to consume a young hibernating bear, who they regard as a spiritual
brother (38). Niska s father, a medicine man and a spiritual leader of the clan, argues that they have no
choice but to eat or starve (37). Nothing it should be added, is to be wasted. A young man named
Micah leaves with his wife and child for better hunting. Their expedition proves disastrous, as Micah
ends up freezing to death while fishing. His wife is forced into cannibalism (42) on behalf of herself
and her child. The wife returns to her clan, but she and her child slip into madness. This madness is
personified as the windigo, a mythical wild beast 20 feet tall (44). Niska s father is forced to kill them

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists...
For being over eight hundred years, the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists
remained in remarkable condition. However, pieces of the original piece, which originated in the
Catalan chapel in Spain, have faded. Portions, especially along the bottom, have disappeared over
time. Even though historians moved it to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, it has not been fully
restored. The artist identified each of the apostles in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four
Evangelists, but the writing has grown fainter and this creates a difficulty for art historians. Another
key factor in the overall story represented has faded one of the lamps or incense holders beneath

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists uses an interesting technique in its apse,
compared to previous Byzantine decorations in apses. It incorporates the technique of fresco painting,
where artists painted pigments into the plaster and wood on the walls so the paint would become one
with the walls similar to methods used in ancient Greece, compared to exercising mosaics as
decorations in apses. The artist mostly employed primary pigments in the Christ in Majesty with
Symbols of the Four Evangelists to make the figures stand out. A repetition occurs in the pigments
with red, gold like yellow, and blue with the occasional purple and the hair colors vary with tones of
brown and grayish white. The style portrayed in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four
Evangelists follows previous rules with the representation of divine figures in churches. The
proportions of the piece utilizes the hierarchy scale with the most important figure Christ. The figure
of Christ is the largest image shown in the apse, and other figures such as the apostles, the four
symbols of the evangelists, and the scenes from the New Testament are roughly the same size. The
smallest figures appear in the windows the sacrifice scenes with Cain and Abel. The artist employed a
more decorative aspect to the drapery of the figures than a naturalistic

To Make Lemon Water
Making lemon water is super simple. It takes less than 5 minutes of your precious morning time. Just
squeeze half a lemon in lukewarm water. If you weigh more than 150 pounds, use a whole lemon.
Why use lukewarm (or room temperature) instead of cold or hot water to make this healing morning

India And The Birth Of Khalsa
Background: India and the Birth of Khalsa India is a vast country with rich and varied heritage. In this
unique country live followers of several religions, such as Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism,
Buddhism, Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. At the time of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of the
Sikh religion, India was being ruled by Muslim kings. In their desire to control the population of
India, these kings resorted to oppressive tactics to convert all non Muslims to Islam. They imposed
several religious taxes and expressed blatant disrespect for places of worship that did not coincide
with their own, among other tactics. However, they were not alone in doing so. The Hindu pundits and
Brahmins also turned to unorthodox practices by exploiting the people and forcing them to participate
in expensive ceremonies and rituals. Both Hinduism and Islam were being corrupted by the greedy
tendencies of those considered religious authorities . Guru Nanak was born in a Hindu family and
retained an interest in religion. His desire to explore beyond what had been given to him led him to
leave home and embark on a journey of sorts. At the age of 28, Guru Nanak went to a river to bathe
and meditate and returned three days later, filled with the spirit of God. He proclaimed that there is no
Hindu and no Muslim, and upon this he began his work as a missionary and the Sikh religion was
born.

Why Seat Belts Should Have Seatbelts
Seat belts should be required on school buses for a lot of foreseen reasons. Seatbelts can make school
buses so much safer in so many different ways. One reason why seat belts should be required on
school buses is that it will save students lives. According to an article released by the Today show
About 440,000 school buses carry 24 million kids each and every day during the school year, which
can be dangerous if the bus gets in a crash. Undoubtedly, school buses should be required to have seat
belts if 24 million kids ride school buses each day. Furthermore, another reason is it will get students
to stay seated on the school buses . When students do not stay seated on the bus and they are in
awkward positions and in the aisle they are more prone to facing severe injuries, maybe even, death .
Adding on, if students have seatbelts on, they will have to sit down because they can stand up with a
seatbelt on. Going even further, cameras can be on school buses just like the cameras on the school
buses in Glenwood Community School District. This will give a higher chance of students getting
punished and it can even result in a suspension off the school bus as little as 3 days and as long as the

An example of a rule, they will follow is, they will sit down at all times when the bus is in motion.
The reason why some say this is an example is because, students won t be able to take off their
seatbelts if the bus is in motion because it will make it an extremely dangerous situation if the bus gets
into a wreck because when the police and the investigation team comes out and investigates the crash
they can say, this person was in an awkward position. Or even, perhaps, they can say they weren t
wearing a seatbelt and the student can get into a lot of trouble because the police have that power. That
s why one of many reasons some say, seatbelts should be required on school

Nevermind Analysis
Nirvana Nevermind
This album review will be on Nirvana s Nevermind album that was released in 1991. This was
Nirvana s second album released and it sold over 30 million copies. I was interested in Nirvana once I
saw it was an option in the book and also because almost everyday you can see someone in the streets
wearing a Nirvana t shirt even people my age and I was curious to listen to their music. As I said
before people my age are still wearing Nirvana shirts which truly demonstrates how impactful their
music was to society.

The band have a very simple line of instruments that impacted a great amount of the generation. The
songs in my opinion told a story about a teenager s life or someone dealing with issues. Especially
since the first song titled Smells Like Teen Spirit and the beginning lyrics being, Load up on guns,
bring your friends, It s fun to lose and to pretend, She s over bored and self assured, Oh no, I know a
dirty word . When they state Load up on guns, bring your friends I think of a revolutions and starting a
rebellion. Almost every song is better than Endless, Nameless just due to the fact of how I can barely
comprehend what is being said in the song. Obviously one of their main hits Smells Like Teen Spirit is
placed at beginning of the album to get their fans hyped for the rest of album. The rest of the songs
flowed right into place. First of all, the album in my opinion exists to bring life to the youth and to
have their voices heard. This album can also exist due to the controversy of the album cover art with
the naked baby swimming after a dollar bill. People have theorized that it was the band s way to get
attention or the baby was seen as symbolism for greed. Another theory is the impact of money and
how it can hurt innocence or society overall. The band never came out with a statement about the
album cover which in all honestly is great because it leaves the floor open to

Euthyphro And Pious Analysis
First Reading Response
Socrates meets Euthyphro outside of the courthouse and begin discussing the nature of impious and
pious acts. Euthyphro claims to be an expert on these matters so he agrees to help Socrates understand
piety better. Euthyphro s first definition is the pious is to do what I am doing now, to prosecute the
wrongdoer, be it about murder. (5d) Socrates objects to this saying that this would only counts as an
instance of piety, and he is more interested in a universal element of all pious acts. Euthyphro
elaborates to say that piety is what all the gods love, and impiety is what all the gods hate. (6e)
Socrates rebukes that there are matters that some of the gods love, while other gods may hate. Socrates
objects saying that gods disagree on issues, and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Euthyphro then offers a third definition; Piety is what all the gods love, and Impiety is what all the
gods hate. (9d) Socrates opens up his objection by asking is the pious being loved by the gods because
it is pious, or is it pious because it is being loved by the gods? (10a) This is the premise to his
argument about the difference in being loved and loving something. To explain his point further
Socrates uses numerous examples of carrying and being carried. To be carried one must first be
carrying something. The same goes for verbs that affect others, for instance to be seen one must first
be seeing something. The carrying must be going on before something can be called carried. So
something is loved when someone is loving it. It cannot be loved before something has loved it.
Euthyphro agrees that the pious is being loved by the gods because it is pious. Socrates then looks to

responsibilities attached to the man in uniform, very little has been written about the kind of education
that he undergoes. While EAF s vision 2030 gives the force structure in the future battlefield scenarios
it neither talks about how the EAF would be providing PME to the future leaders nor the
infrastructural requirements to meet the demands. Today, we stand a transitional period, as the

Organic Solvents And Nonpolar Solvents
As mentioned in the discussion, olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard were soluble in nonpolar
solvents and insoluble in polar solvents. This is due to the chemical composition of polar and nonpolar
substances which results from the molecular shape as well as properties of dissolving solutes in
solution. Polar substances are hydrophilic and contain polar Van Der Waals interactions
(intermolecular forces) such as dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, and hydrogen bonding.
Nonpolar substances are hydrophobic and contain non polar Van Der Waals interactions. Like dissolve
like is the reason only polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents and why nonpolar solutes dissolve in
nonpolar solvents. Molecules with similar polarity have similar intermolecular forces and therefore,
can interact with each, or in this case dissolve9. Additionally, the solubility of a compound is
determined by the length of the hydrocarbon chain. Long hydrocarbon chains such as the one found in
oleic acid makes a compound more insoluble10. Therefore, since the lipids used in this experiment
were hydrophobic substances and each lipid has long hydrocarbon chains, the results were consistent
with the scientific literature and principles. Another factor affecting the solubility of the olive oil,
vegetable oil, crisco, and lard is the principle of hydrophobic interaction. Hydrophobic interaction
refers to when nonpolar solutes are in the presence of polar solvents, mainly water. When this
happens, the

This novel is indeed quite a political statement : children characters are shown unfit for a harsh
environment and the only outcome for them is to die at a young age, like Dick or Nancy. Dickens is
thus arguing that the Original Sin is a belief that belongs to the past, and that children should be
protected from misery, labour and mistreatment. However, Oliver doesn t die and his inherent
goodness and innocence seem to remain uncorrupted by the people he encounters and the course of
events. Dickens may have made a symbol out of Oliver, the ideal of the Romantic child if kept from
corruption. Oliver is what the other misfortunate children of the novel could have been. He is what
they should have been : good, innocent and pious. Oliver twist was a popular novel among the middle

Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Heffernan
Headphones are so miniscule, but can have a significant impact on one s hearing. Listening to loud
music for long periods of time can lead to eternal hearing problems. The rhetor, Virginia Heffernan,
writes an article in the New York Times Magazine arguing why humans should limit the usage of
headphones. She explains the history of headphones and the impact they have had on people who use
headphones, especially teens. Her message is to start minimizing headphone use because the damage
they can cause to hearing. Heffernan presents her argument regarding the use of headphones in an
ineffective way because she does not use a tone that is able to persuade the audience.
Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone of
any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for the
audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and educating
them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate with someone
else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss. When Heffernan is
writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the argument is not
persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes, Headphones are packed
with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice coil, it creates an alternating

How A Person s Memory Works Memory
Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person s
Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling memories
uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in result, almost
recreates the event. Researchers believe memory is a brain wide process, meaning that memory is not
restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory. Humans receive
information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. Someone can imagine how
different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not have one of their senses sight, sound,
smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the memory the most. Memories are just
different ways people store and remember various things they have sensed throughout life.
2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people think
of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else that
closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the brain.
3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are related to
sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form generalized
concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of memory folders

Ct, Mri, And Coronal Images Of The Body Planes
CT This week I rotated through CT. CT is computed tomography. CT uses special x ray machines to
show detailed images of the body planes. This machine splits the body into axial, sagittal, and coronal
images on one scan. Some CT scans are done with contrast and some are done without contrast.
Contrast in used to highlight the vessels in the body so they will show up bright on the image. The
contrast is injected through an IV that is inserted by either a tech or a nurse. Most scans were done on
the chest, abdomen or pelvis but I also seen a few soft tissue neck scans and head scans. CT does both
out patients and inpatients. They have a busy schedule and is very hard for them to stay on track. It
doesn t take much for them to fall behind. I enjoyed working in CT and cannot wait to go back. All the
techs that we were working with were very nice and willing to help. They also taught us the basics to
using a CT machine. I got select the protocol for the scan that was ordered, scan the scout image and
set the margins for the actual CT scan. They also showed me how to load up the injector with the
appropriate amount of contrast and saline water. The contrast that they most commonly use is
Omnipaque 350. My two favorite techs to work with were Melissa and Merikay. Melissa was very
helpful and talked me through the steps from pulling up the patient, selecting the proper protocol and
starting the scout image. I also got to log the amount of contrast that was injected and got to

Bonhoeffer s Life Together And Zizioulas The Church
Comparing the views of Bonhoeffer s Life Together and Zizioulas The Church
Bonhoeffer and Zizioulas offer interesting perspectives for conceptualizing the Christian theology
regarding the atonement. Indeed, one of the outstanding elements of Christianity practices, which sets
them apart from other religions, is atonement. In this case, atonement can be defined as the process of
sin reparation or expiation. There are four models of atonement. These include Christus Victor,
Satisfaction, Exemplar and Penal Substitution. A look at the differences between these two theologians
reveals a clear difference regarding their perspectives towards atonement, in which Bonhoeffer tends
to orient himself towards the model of Christus Victor, while ... Show more content on

It affirms that God attributed the sins and guilt of humankind to Jesus, Who in place of man, received
that punishment that humanity would have otherwise deserved. Jesus actions signified the payment of
the sins of humankind, which settled both the righteousness and wrath of God so that sinners could be
forgiven without God Himself compromising His holy standard. In essence, according to the penal
substitution theory of the reformers, Jesus died in place of man, in the process accounting for the sins
of man and bearing them. The act of Jesus taking the sins of man indicates that Jesus carried the cross
of every believer, setting him free and safe from all the penal demands of God s law. In this context,
the holiness of God and the righteousness of His law are accounted for by the substitution. Notably, in
modern theology, the penal aspect has been a stumbling block despite being regarded as one of the
dominant atonement in the bible. According to the model, Jesus paid man s ransom on his crucifixion.
However, this view only works because Christ was paying man s penalty. Therefore, Christians should
be inspired by the self sacrifice acts of Jesus on the cross. In addition, Jesus death and resurrection
implied significant victories over death, hell, and sin in our union with him and God. Lastly, God
accomplished his mission to reconcile the world with Him despite various trespasses by

The Enlightenment And Its Influence On Scotland s Culture
Before the Scottish Enlightenment which began in the second half of the 18th century, religion was a
centerpiece of many western cultures. Members of Scotland s society viewed the world with a
religious specifically Christian lense (Dickenson 260). Essentially the highest authority in Scotland at
this time was the Presbyterian Church of Scotland ( Constitution of the.. ). Once the Enlightenment
began in Scotland this religious lense was challenged and the idea of viewing religion and the world as
a whole through a rational lense became popular. Great thinkers such as David Hume challenged the
church and the general public with arguments that put the validity of faith and religion as a whole into
question. In addition to there being critics of religion, there were also thinkers such as George
Campbell who actively defended Christianity. It is no doubt that this shift in thinking significantly
impacted Scotland s culture, but in in what ways was this shift to more rational important? Why was

It was during the Enlightenment that there was a great shift in where people found authority a new
emphasis was placed on finding authority from personal experiences and rational thinking (Broadie

from finding authority in the church to finding authority in rational thinking (McGrew), studying
religion in the context of the Enlightenment forced Christians to better understand and articulate their
beliefs. This urge to think rationally was not only important for the religious, but it also gave
nonreligious individuals the opportunity to criticize and outwardly assert that they disagreed with the

Descriptive Essay About Pablo Picasso
Shocking my oversized three dollar boots with the recently damp medieval floor, I could hear the high
pitched clapper from the closest cathedral warning us:we were late. Following my grandmother, I used
my aged leather handbag as a barrier to the falling water drops, while rapidly climbing the stairs to the
Museo de Sofía.We were at a heritage travelling experience in the city my grandmother lived years
ago, and she wanted to show me how different life would be. She wanted to show me how the antique
architecture was filled with modern decorations; she wished for me to experience Pablo Picasso s
homeland. Yet, on that rainy day, in my first visit to a Picasso exposition, I couldn t see the well
honored geniality people talked about. I recognized some colours tendency as an expression of his life
period, the shattered spaces filled with matte cubicles that decipher his creative expression, yet I
couldn t feel the passion all the other tourists felt. I couldn t notice the inspiration of the paintings, I
couldn t picture the vision he was trying to show, I couldn t recognize his point of view. I couldn t
understand Picasso. Although I couldn t understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

PROPOSAL FOR AN ONLINE VEHICLE RENTAL SYSTEM
A DISSERTATION PROPOSAL SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFULLMENT OF THE UNIT (
PROJECT, UNIT CODE) BIT 2221.
JUNE 2012
ABSTRACT
This project is being considered in order to reduce and totally eliminate loss of customers to
competitors, and save the company from folding up. The current system is manual and it is time
consuming. It is also cost ineffective, and average return is low and diminishing. Currently, customers
can call or walk in in order to rent or reserve a vehicle. The staff of the company will check their file
to see which vehicle is available for rental. The current system is error prone and customers are
dissatisfied. The goal of this project is to automate vehicle rental ... Show more content on

avoid the confusion of reserving one vehicle for two clients which is a common problem when using
manual systems To the Client/customer
The customer will not have to travel to the company offices for Him to reserve of rent a vehicle. He
will do so at the comfort of his home or office.
1.4 Problem Statement
Currently the system being used is a manual one where clients have to come physically into the office
in order for them to rent or reserve a vehicle. The system poses a number of challenges that include:
1. Time consuming
In the current system, clients have to come to the company offices physically in order to rent or
reserve a vehicle which is a waste of time.
When there are many clients to be attended to it may take long for the company staff to serve all of
them.
2. Error Prone
The company staff are very likely to make errors when using the current manual system, for example
it is very easy to reserve one car for two clients, under charge or overcharge a client.
3. Cost
The operating cost of the current System is high but with the implementation of the Automated
System only a few no of staff will be able to run the System.
1.5 Proposed solution

Stipends
If you re unwilling to grind out the details of why your faith based nonprofit should start offering
stipends, consider delaying the transition. Answering the why question provides motivation for
staffers expected to promote the change. It prepares you to answer critics and there will be critics. It
give confidence to staffers recruited into roles with stipends. If you re ready to do the groundwork,
consider the following five reasons nonprofits start paying stipends (and one reason to not start): The
nonprofit will fulfill its mission and vision more effectively by starting stipends. This by itself is not
sufficient reason to start stipends. However, it is a prerequisite. The strategy of only volunteer staff no
longer gets the job done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leadership has tried every imaginable form of training and team building and reorganizing. Yet no
growth. This is a time to consider providing stipends. Stipends are part of a plan to change
organizational culture. There are organizations where being a nonprofit equates with being
nonprofessional. In such nonprofits it is common to hear people say, We re just a nonprofit. One step
(and I mean just one step) in elevating how members see the professionalism of their organization is
starting stipends. Stipends are part of a new leader development process. When leading nonprofits I m
especially gratified by working with leaders we internally developed. One widespread development
process moves people from organizational members to volunteer staff to stipend staff to paid staff.
Stipends are a transitional step in starting to pay salaries. Providing stipends before offering salaries
gives nonprofits practical experience in handling payroll, taxes, etc. It also buys the nonprofit time to
develop so it can better support offering salaries. Which popular reason for starting to pay stipends did

Comparing Rowlandson And Incidents In The Life Of A Slave...
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary
Rowlandson are both nonfiction narratives that describe the struggles of women in some form of
captivity. The similarities between these two texts are in some ways incredibly obvious, for instance
they are both written in the first person from the perspective of marginalized women struggling to
merely survive. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl specifically deals with the extreme level of sexual
abuse that female slaves were subjected to and it is frequently cited as first hand proof that women
were treated even worse than men on plantations. While this may be true it is not a similarity that it
has to A Narrative of the Captivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl offers many insights into the suffering that life can
sometimes offer. Her account does not have the same subtle optimism found in A Narrative of the
Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson , however, it similarly shows how many can take
their luxurious lifestyles for granted, by outlining the suffering or even discussing a woman who was
happy her child was dying and would be removed from a life of pain (23). Both of these texts clearly
outline how resilient human nature can be they both tell the stories of women who are put into
incredibly challenging situations and yet they both continue to survive. This survival mechanism of
humans is an intriguing recurring theme in both texts and is a similarity that links them both together.
While there are a myriad of similarities between these two texts, there are also significant differences
in context, theme, and scope. For instance, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary
Rowlandson is the story of only eleven weeks of captivity. This is naturally a far less comprehensive
experience than in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl which tells the narrative of a girl who suffered
her entire life. Naturally, reading both of these texts shows a shocking difference in narrative view. A
Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is quite optimistic, as one reads
through her account it is clear

  • 2. Anne Bradstreet s Pre-Civil War Poetry When reading Pre Civil War works, readers may have a preconception that the works may be difficult to decipher and view them as archaic; however this is clearly not the case. The works are written in modern English, and therefore, readers can still understand the overall, general concept even if they cannot decipher each and every word. When reading the Salinas and Cherokee creation stories, Columbus s Letter, and the works of Samuel de Champlain, the works can be read with ease. The overall concept/ message may be difficult to understand at times, but to read each of the works can be done effortlessly. Although the majority of the works assigned this week are easy to understand and read, Anne Bradstreet s poetry may be considered a tad more difficult to comprehend, because her poetry is written in a quatrain and the language gives off a flowerily ... • 3. Fight Or Flight Response The Effect of Suffering on the Human Psyche The Holocaust: A genocide in which six million Jews died, still remembered today as the single most grotesque massacre in human history. For most, the concept of Hitler s rise to power, the building of his strength, and the process by which his orders were carried out remains an unimaginable concept. In the mind, laws of morality don t bend. In looking at the Holocaust, one has to wonder how so many managed to break the rules of humanity so quickly. The easiest answer questions the existence of ethical laws at all. Although others consider the vast majority who did not fall victim to Hitler s power to simply be better people, a consensus of Germany pre war reveals that they were not miniature bigots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to some, a conscience is a stronger power than the human instincts that stayed put over years of evolution (Anonymous, ... Powerful Motivator ). It is considered a knowledge of ourselves, or awareness of moral principles... (Giubilini, Conscience ). Allegedly, all humans are born with a sense of morality, or else how does the world turn round? But the truth is that the conscience is not something that anyone is born with. Rather, conscience will always require points of reference which can be acquired through education and moral training. (Berg, What is Moral Conscience? ). Inner integrity must be taught, for children do not know how the world functions. If a conscience is not taught, it may not exist at all. For Alfons Heck, Hitler Youth leader, his ethical side diminished under the weight of his high position in the ranks. It was astonishing how fast these kids grew up under such tremendous pressure, (Ayer et al. 113) says he. As the adolescents in the army bonded over wartime struggles and mass death, it could be said that members of the Hitler Youth had their morals worn away by those that reigned over them in an effort to further the Nazi cause. Furthermore, in the Nazi party, many felt that the conscience didn t exist. Hitler himself said, Conscience is a Jewish invention, it is a blemish... (Rauschning et al. ... Influence of Indian Warfare on the Development of the United States Army Throughout history, when two or more armed groups oppose one another in battle, certain tactics are transferred from one to the other. These tactics are usually perceived by either group as superior to their own. This process of transferring tactics often occurs over a length of time, and usually encompass a number of conflicts between the groups. This is a natural phenomenon for armed forces that mimics the Darwinian Theory of Evolution; the strongest survive, the weak die. For a group to become the strongest in armed conflict, it must employ superior tactics and doctrine over its enemy. One method that an armed force uses to become stronger is to adapt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The militia was strictly a local institution to a colony s townships or counties. They consisted of males usually between the age of sixteen and sixty, who were obliged to keep weapons in their homes and be prepared to be called in the event of Indian attack. Periodically throughout the year, the militias were called to train at their local county or town seat (Bell 28). Although the local militia trained together, they rarely fought together. Whenever a colony was threatened, the government of the colony directed the militia commander of the locality that was threatened to assemble his men. This commander would then muster the most able of his militia, usually the youngest, in the number he thought he would need. This was also similar to the process used to form a militia for an expedition into Indian country. Upon completion of the defense of the colony or the expedition, the men would immediately disband and return to their homes (Bell 29). In the early days of the militias, though the value of their training was minimal in respect to that of their contemporary European professionals, the militiamen were competent Indian fighters. This was due in part to the nature of frontier life. Males were required to develop skill in the use of firearms from an early age, as hunting was the primary source of food in ... • 6. Emotions in Negotiations We negotiate every day for different purposes, and each day we experience emotions, both positive and negative. When negotiating, formally or informally, with family or in the organizational workplace we often do not know how to handle ourselves, yet alone the emotions of the other person or group. As educated people, we often try to ignore the influence of emotions on decision making. Neuroscience evidence now shows that sound and rational decision making is contingent on prior accurate emotional processing. The basis for this is the somatic marker hypothesis. The somatic marker hypothesis provides a systems level neuroanatomical and cognitive framework for decision making, the impact, and influence on it by emotions. The key idea of this hypothesis is that decision making is a process that is influenced by marker signals that arise in bio regulatory processes, which includes those that express themselves in emotions and feelings. This influence can occur at multiple levels of operation, some of which occur consciously and some of which occur non consciously (Bechara Damasio, 2000). Essentially, somatic markers are associations of stimuli that induce an associated physiological affective state. We may feel embarrassed; have muscle contractions, experience a heart rate increase, endocrine release, posture, and facial expression changes. These are all a result of somatic marker interpretation. The physiological change occurs in the brain and is relayed to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my lesson I incorporated a phenomenon discussion to get the students to start thinking scientifically by questioning. I used a PowerPoint in order to focus the students attention and to visualize the topic I was discussing. The use of the instructional model impacted student learning through being an important resource for the students. The students had a reference to see how to convey information in written form or how to write expository writings. Having the model allowed the students to be more comfortable with informational writing and to be able to focus on understanding the content. The prewriting graphic organizer was used in order for the students to be able organize their ideas and know what they are writing about before they begin their rough draft. This impacted student learning by helping them produce a better and more thought out writing. My plan was for the students to listen to the book being read and be able to get the majority of the information from my reading, which was also projected on the board. This was not the reality and the students needed the photocopied versions of the book to finish their prewriting. This turned out to better support the learners by having that resource available and the students were then able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Life Of James Madison Essay The Life of James Madison Madison Williams Central High School November 9, 2015 3rd Period Abstract In my paper I will state and explain the least known aspects of James Madison. James Madison contributed to some of the most simple and complex events that have not been recognized. For his job well done, I am willing to make those aspects known. The Life of James Madison James Madison, also known as The Father on the Constitution , contributed to quite a few intellectual events in the United States. Madison was an intelligent man with bright ideas that helped this country become the one it is today. With all his appearances to debates, committee meetings, and being elected in conventions, he was able to present us the federal government we have today and some of our basic rights. James Madison s life and times, before, during, and after presidency is now becoming more well known and interpreted. James Madison was born on March 16, 1751, in Port Conway, Virginia, to Colonel James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Rose Conway. Madison and his siblings grew up into the Christian religion since his family was very religious. James had eleven other siblings and was the oldest out of them all. Alison Bechdel dedicates her memoir to Mom, Christian, and John. We did have a lot of fun, in spite of everything . I found it odd that she didn t include her father in this as well. After all, without her father, she would not have had much of a story. He was the glue that held the whole dysfunctional family together and it was his mysterious and depraved manner that compelled me to turn each twisted page. Bechdel also mentions her family again in the acknowledgments at the end of her book, Thanks to Helen, Christian, and John Bechdel for not trying to stop me from writing this book . This brought up the question, what does her family think about her writing her autobiography? Alison exposes many intensely personal family secrets in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only thing I wasn t a huge fan of was Bechdel s exorbitant vocabulary throughout the entire 232 pages of her book. Reading through each chapter took a lot of stop and go on my part. For example, in chapter four, Alison remembers a trip to New York City with her brothers and Roy. Alison recalls, And while I acknowledge the absurdity of claiming a connection to that mythologized flashpoint...might not a lingering vibration, a quantum particle of rebellion, still have hung in the humectant air (104). Specifically, it can help improve labor productivity, reduce head count, cut inventories, and speed up production flows, and increase revenues and profits. Edward J. Marien To find the best practices for forecasting, our team researched many cases of forecasting success, and found five companies with a common theme. Rayovac, the Coca Cola Bottling Company, AAi. Sara Lee Sara Lee has also seen improvements thanks to an updated forecasting system. Professional demand planners and updated software tools has allowed them to progress. Previously, marketing had control of sales and financial forecasts and little attention was paid to them. Therefore, high amounts of safety stock and high amounts of stockouts ensued. By developing a demand planning group Sara Lee was able to get the appropriate people resources needed for good forecasting. They also were careful not to involve new technology that would disrupt the process already in place. With the new technology and demand planners in place, the company was able to get inputs from product managers and field sales people. With their incoming data automatically integrated into the demand planning software, they can forecast from the SKU level up to the family level. Field sales people are now being asked to forecast for the next four months for the largest customer because they have immediate access to the people and therefore, the best view of the marketplace. Forecast accuracy is up approximately 51%, and perfect order fill rates are in around 93%. Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920 s when Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma from the mean is the point where a process requires correction. Many measurement standards (Cpk, Zero Defects, etc.) later came on the scene but credit for coining the term Six Sigma goes to a Motorola engineer named Bill Smith. (Incidentally, Six Sigma is a federally registered trademark of Motorola). In the early and mid 1980s with Chairman Bob Galvin at the helm, Motorola engineers decided that the traditional quality levels measuring defects in thousands of opportunities didn t provide enough granularity. Instead, they wanted to measure the defects per million opportunities. Motorola developed this new standard and created the methodology and needed cultural change associated with it. • 19. LH Mouse Model Comparative analysis of LH levels and pulse frequency in mouse models Abstract: Estrogen is the primary female sex hormone and is responsible for the development and regulation of the female reproductive system and of secondary sex characteristics. Produced primarily by the ovaries, estrogen binds to and activates estrogen receptor beta (ER) a nuclear receptor. Estrogen plays an important role in the hypothalamic pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis by acting on gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons located within the hypothalamus. In females, a cyclic reversal of estrogen feedback produces a positive feedback loop at both the hypothalamic and pituitary levels. This is coupled with an increase in pituitary sensitivity to GnRH, which produces the massive surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) that triggers ovulation. However, LH is not only secreted during this surge it is secreted in a pulsatile manner otherwise. This paper will focus on the implications on LH pulsatility by knocking out ER, as well as by removing the ovaries. Introduction: In both the male and female, the coordinated actions of hormones from the hypothalamus, anterior pituitary, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Estrogen has a bimodal effect on the hypothalamus with both inhibitory and stimulatory influences on GnRH secretion. The stimulatory effect of estrogen is seen at the end of the follicular phase where estrogen triggers the preovulatory GnRH surge. The ability of estrogen to induce a surge declines with age in female rodents and women. This appears to be due in large part to a decrease in estrogen induction of GnRH neurons, particularly in rodents. The inhibitory effect of estrogen on GnRH secretion and GnRH gene expression has been show in in in vivo studies indicating that estrogen inhibits GnRH pulse amplitude in the early follicular and luteal phase of the ... • 21. Bacterial Transformation ( Escherichia Coli ) Bacterial Transformation (Escherichia coli) Kadian Jones Dr. F. Redway BIO 104 Lab 3 November 11, 2014 Introduction According to Medicine.net (2012), genetic transformation is a process by which the genetic material carried by an individual cell is altered by the incorporation of foreign/exogenous DNA into its genome. Competent cells are able to accept DNA presented by experimental influence or manipulation, and the application of genetic engineering with bacteria can aid in the fight against diseases, allowing individuals to maintain their lifestyles without the threat of certain illnesses like heart disease, cancer or hereditary disorders (McPhersson 2008). Plasmid DNA are small circular double stranded helixes, and present in the plasmid are ampr (selectable marker gene) and GFP (Green Florescent Protein), (BIO RAD 2010). Figure 1: Illustrates the bacterial plasmid of E. Coli showing the select marker gene and the color marker gene present. The bacteria that was used in the experiment was Escherichia coli, it is one of the most commonly used organisms for gene transfer, and most E. coli are non pathogenic. A non pathogenic strain was used to conduct the experiment. The conditions was kept at 37 ◦C, which is the temperature of the human intestines (BIO RAD 2010). Payton Walker Mr. Abel British Lit/comp. 7 November 2016 The Friar s Tale Many pilgrims in Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales held a religious position. Some of these people s personal ideas have caused debates and criticism over Chaucer s opinion of the Catholic Church. Critics have discussed the ideas that were presented both subtly and openly. Two of the pilgrims and their tales will be discussed: the Prioress and the Pardoner. Both of these tales offer points of criticism in the Catholic Church. The Prioress introduces herself as being like a child who does not know many words. She is going to try to tell a tale as best as she can. This child like language can be seen through the whole tale. The Prioress speaks her tale in a fluent, sweet tone. Her innocence, like a child s, can be seen as she tells her tale. To see the entire criticism of the Prioress s tale, the General Prologue must first be recounted. The Prioress was described as a very correct lady; all of her actions showed a very refined lady. She was also portrayed as being very sympathetic, She wolde wepe, if that she saugh a mous kaught in a trappe, if it were deed or bledde. (lines 144 146) She was sentimental enough to feed animals the best food she had. Thus, the Prioress was presented as a very compassionate, well mannered lady. In this unique country live followers of several religions, such as Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. At the time of the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion, India was being ruled by Muslim kings. In their desire to control the population of India, these kings resorted to oppressive tactics to convert all non Muslims to Islam. They imposed several religious taxes and expressed blatant disrespect for places of worship that did not coincide with their own, among other tactics. However, they were not alone in doing so. The Hindu pundits and Brahmins also turned to unorthodox practices by exploiting the people and forcing them to participate in expensive ceremonies and rituals. Both Hinduism and Islam were being corrupted by the greedy tendencies of those considered religious authorities . Guru Nanak was born in a Hindu family and retained an interest in religion. His desire to explore beyond what had been given to him led him to leave home and embark on a journey of sorts. At the age of 28, Guru Nanak went to a river to bathe and meditate and returned three days later, filled with the spirit of God. One reason why seat belts should be required on school buses is that it will save students lives. • 35. Organic Solvents And Nonpolar Solvents As mentioned in the discussion, olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard were soluble in nonpolar solvents and insoluble in polar solvents. This is due to the chemical composition of polar and nonpolar substances which results from the molecular shape as well as properties of dissolving solutes in solution. Polar substances are hydrophilic and contain polar Van Der Waals interactions (intermolecular forces) such as dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, and hydrogen bonding. Nonpolar substances are hydrophobic and contain non polar Van Der Waals interactions. Like dissolve like is the reason only polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents and why nonpolar solutes dissolve in nonpolar solvents. Molecules with similar polarity have similar intermolecular forces and therefore, can interact with each, or in this case dissolve9. Additionally, the solubility of a compound is determined by the length of the hydrocarbon chain. Long hydrocarbon chains such as the one found in oleic acid makes a compound more insoluble10. Therefore, since the lipids used in this experiment were hydrophobic substances and each lipid has long hydrocarbon chains, the results were consistent with the scientific literature and principles. Another factor affecting the solubility of the olive oil, vegetable oil, crisco, and lard is the principle of hydrophobic interaction. However, Oliver doesn t die and his inherent goodness and innocence seem to remain uncorrupted by the people he encounters and the course of events. Dickens may have made a symbol out of Oliver, the ideal of the Romantic child if kept from corruption. Oliver is what the other misfortunate children of the novel could have been. He is what they should have been : good, innocent and pious. Oliver twist was a popular novel among the middle class at the time it was published : although Victorian poor children were exploited in factories, mine and workhouses, literary Victorians who were mostly middle class had a certain affection for orphans and pauper children. Dickens specifically targeted his middle class audience to trigger its compassion for unfortunate children beyond literature, thats is to say into reality. It is no coincidence that Maylie and Rose, two middle class characters, realize that Oliver doesn t have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Heffernan Headphones are so miniscule, but can have a significant impact on one s hearing. Listening to loud music for long periods of time can lead to eternal hearing problems. The rhetor, Virginia Heffernan, writes an article in the New York Times Magazine arguing why humans should limit the usage of headphones. She explains the history of headphones and the impact they have had on people who use headphones, especially teens. Her message is to start minimizing headphone use because the damage they can cause to hearing. Heffernan presents her argument regarding the use of headphones in an ineffective way because she does not use a tone that is able to persuade the audience. Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone of any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for the audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and educating them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate with someone else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss. When Heffernan is writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the argument is not persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes, Headphones are packed with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice coil, it creates an alternating magnetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. How A Person s Memory Works Memory Alexis Marie Robinson Mrs Reilly English III Honors Period 6 09 Of March 2015 How A Person s Memory Works Memory is a concept that refers to the process of remembering. Recalling memories uses the same neurological paths humans use originally to sense the experience which in result, almost recreates the event. Researchers believe memory is a brain wide process, meaning that memory is not restricted to one area of the brain. Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory. Humans receive information through the five senses: 1sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. Someone can imagine how different a memory would be for a person if one of they did not have one of their senses sight, sound, smell whatever the sense was that ties them closely to the memory the most. Memories are just different ways people store and remember various things they have sensed throughout life. 2It should be known that a single memory is a complex construction. For example, when people think of a simple object the brain retrieves the objects name, its shape, function, and anything else that closely ties itself to that object. 2Each part of this memory is from a different region of the brain. 3(Mohs and Turkington) As stated by April Holladay, memories of concepts and ideas are related to sense experiences because we extract the essence from sensed experiences to form generalized concepts. And in the past, many experts explained memory as a filing cabinet full of memory folders where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Ct, Mri, And Coronal Images Of The Body Planes CT This week I rotated through CT. CT is computed tomography. CT uses special x ray machines to show detailed images of the body planes. This machine splits the body into axial, sagittal, and coronal images on one scan. Some CT scans are done with contrast and some are done without contrast. Contrast in used to highlight the vessels in the body so they will show up bright on the image. The contrast is injected through an IV that is inserted by either a tech or a nurse. Most scans were done on the chest, abdomen or pelvis but I also seen a few soft tissue neck scans and head scans. CT does both out patients and inpatients. They have a busy schedule and is very hard for them to stay on track. It doesn t take much for them to fall behind. I enjoyed working in CT and cannot wait to go back. All the techs that we were working with were very nice and willing to help. They also taught us the basics to using a CT machine. I got select the protocol for the scan that was ordered, scan the scout image and set the margins for the actual CT scan. They also showed me how to load up the injector with the appropriate amount of contrast and saline water. The contrast that they most commonly use is Omnipaque 350. Bonhoeffer s Life Together And Zizioulas The Church Comparing the views of Bonhoeffer s Life Together and Zizioulas The Church Bonhoeffer and Zizioulas offer interesting perspectives for conceptualizing the Christian theology regarding the atonement. Indeed, one of the outstanding elements of Christianity practices, which sets them apart from other religions, is atonement. In this case, atonement can be defined as the process of sin reparation or expiation. There are four models of atonement. These include Christus Victor, Satisfaction, Exemplar and Penal Substitution. A look at the differences between these two theologians reveals a clear difference regarding their perspectives towards atonement, in which Bonhoeffer tends to orient himself towards the model of Christus Victor, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It affirms that God attributed the sins and guilt of humankind to Jesus, Who in place of man, received that punishment that humanity would have otherwise deserved. Jesus actions signified the payment of the sins of humankind, which settled both the righteousness and wrath of God so that sinners could be forgiven without God Himself compromising His holy standard. In essence, according to the penal substitution theory of the reformers, Jesus died in place of man, in the process accounting for the sins of man and bearing them. The act of Jesus taking the sins of man indicates that Jesus carried the cross of every believer, setting him free and safe from all the penal demands of God s law. In this context, the holiness of God and the righteousness of His law are accounted for by the substitution. Notably, in modern theology, the penal aspect has been a stumbling block despite being regarded as one of the dominant atonement in the bible. According to the model, Jesus paid man s ransom on his crucifixion. However, this view only works because Christ was paying man s penalty. Therefore, Christians should be inspired by the self sacrifice acts of Jesus on the cross. In addition, Jesus death and resurrection implied significant victories over death, hell, and sin in our union with him and God. Lastly, God accomplished his mission to reconcile the world with Him despite various trespasses by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once the Enlightenment began in Scotland this religious lense was challenged and the idea of viewing religion and the world as a whole through a rational lense became popular. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson are both nonfiction narratives that describe the struggles of women in some form of captivity. The similarities between these two texts are in some ways incredibly obvious, for instance they are both written in the first person from the perspective of marginalized women struggling to merely survive. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl specifically deals with the extreme level of sexual abuse that female slaves were subjected to and it is frequently cited as first hand proof that women were treated even worse than men on plantations. Similarly, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl offers many insights into the suffering that life can sometimes offer. Her account does not have the same subtle optimism found in A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson , however, it similarly shows how many can take their luxurious lifestyles for granted, by outlining the suffering or even discussing a woman who was happy her child was dying and would be removed from a life of pain (23). Both of these texts clearly outline how resilient human nature can be they both tell the stories of women who are put into incredibly challenging situations and yet they both continue to survive. This survival mechanism of humans is an intriguing recurring theme in both texts and is a similarity that links them both together. While there are a myriad of similarities between these two texts, there are also significant differences in context, theme, and scope. For instance, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is the story of only eleven weeks of captivity. This is naturally a far less comprehensive experience than in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl which tells the narrative of a girl who suffered her entire life.
