At the end of this session, the participants
will be able to explain about sociocultural
pattern of lifestyle.
Specific objectives:
At the end of this session the participants will be
able to:
Define lifestyle
State the components of lifestyle
Define sociocultural pattern
Explain the main determinants of lifestyle in
the context of sociocultural pattern
INTRODUCTION
Life style – The way a person lives.
Life style is the interest, opinion, behaviour
and behavioural orientation of an individual,
group and cultural.
It reflects a whole range of social
values,attitude and activities,composed of
cultural and behavioural patterns and life
long personal habits that have developed
through process of socialization.

Life style are learnt through social interaction
with parent, peer groups, friends, siblings
and through social and mass media
Nowadays life style is going to unhealthy so
that unhealthy lifestyle is emerging as a
serious problem.
Unhealthy life styles refers to personal
practices or habits that can pose danger to
health.

Today, wide changes have occurred in life
style of all young adult . Unhealthy diet,
smoking, alcohol consuming, drug abuse,
stress and so on, are the presentation of
unhealthy life style that they are used as
dominant form of life style.
Unhealthy life style behaviours are
modifiable and usually established during
adulthood.

• Unhealthy life style leads to many serious
health problems like ;obesity, malnutrition,
cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory
disease, joint problem, cancer, RTA, STDs,
psychiatric problem etc…

• Singlehood
• Family planning
• Leadership responsibilities
Socio cultural pattern
• It refers to multitude of values, norms and
activities that are derived from the social
environment one is related to and the
cultural belief that are being followed since
ages.
• Adulthood is usually characterized by
establishing a family, taking responsibilities
as parent and becoming an active member of
society.

 It sets up certain standard of behaviour for
him and for the society.
 It provide traditional interpretation to certain
situation.
 It keep the individual behaviour and social
relation intact.
 It broden the vision of an individual.
 It creates new needs and interests as well as
help to satisfy them.
