interactions between family members.

well as the varying relationship that can exist
within a family.
• Every family has it’s own dynamic, which
manifests in it’s own way.
• Family dynamics impacts how one sees
themselves in later life, influences relationship
and how one interacts with the world as well as
own well being.
7. • It varies from family to family and will often
include previous generation, as well as current
living generation.
• Socio-economic factors, culture , geographic
location will also play key roles in how family
dynamics are established.

Dynamics

• Parent absenteeism.
• Dynamics of previous generation.
• Extended family.
• External events e.g. illness , trauma, death,
unemployment.

• Other issues : family violence , abuse (alcohol,
drugs) mental and or physical disabilities.
• Family values, culture , ethnicity , gender roles,
parenting practice, power or status of family
member.
10. Changes of Family Dynamics in
Young Adulthood
• The young adult becomes more responsible
towards his/her duty and responsibilities within
the family.
• They do not need the physical presence of their
mother all the time and want to be known as
seperarat individual (not as a child) in family.)
• They want more privacy as compared to his/her
earlier days.
• The young adult understands the family’s
financial state and wants to contribute financially
by gaining independency.
11. • When gaining independence, there may be
conflicts with the young adult and their
parents.Parent may still view them as their small
child while the young adult wants autonomy and
freedom.
• On the other hand, in later years they realize
their parents as separate individuals and not just
their parents who are still growing just like them.
• They want to spend more time and take care of
them and worry about them more.
12. • They want to obtain intimate relationship
becoming the precursor for marriage and
companionship.
• While having a desire for an intimate relationship
some are unable to sustain such relationships
leading to separation and divorce.Family
members may have a negative outlook towards
the individual.
• That's why they maybe stigmatized for it. Family
members as well as society have a negative
outlook towards them.
13. • Among them who can establish such relations,
may move futher towards the next step, i.e.
Childbearing ( new addition to the family ).
• Families view the birth of a child as an auspicious
occasion.
• Those who cannot bear children maybe look
down upon creating stressful situation within the
family.
14. • Siblings who do not have a large age difference
will often grow closer because they share
familiar/ similar experiences, joys and stresses.
• If the young adult has a younger sibling they
respond to them with greater patience and
compassion. They become a mentor advising
and guiding them.
• All the members in the family must have balance
between personal interest and interest of others.
• If there is a problem or imbalance, it may lead to
family conflict, misbheaviour, neglect, abuse etc.
