This document discusses life-oriented curriculum and inter-disciplinary curriculum. It defines life-oriented curriculum as incorporating many aspects of life and preparing learners for life's possibilities. Key topics in life-oriented curriculum include careers, physical education, democracy, social responsibility, self-development, and study skills. Inter-disciplinary curriculum presents content from multiple disciplines to examine a central theme or problem. It explores connections between disciplines and accommodates student diversity. The document advocates for updating educational curriculum to introduce innovative, life-oriented and inter-disciplinary approaches to deal with increasing knowledge and help students organize information.
This presentation will be helpful in knowing the concepts of disciplinary knowledge, interdisciplinary knowledge, nature and scope of disciplines, knowledge as construction of Experience, various kinds of thinking and how knowledge is different from information
This model guides teachers to go to the depth of the content. And helps students to attain new concepts. So the model has a great attribute on teaching -learning process.

Interpretation construction (icon) design modelThiyagu K
One major and popular instructional model based the constructivist approach is Interpretation Construction Model or ICON model which emphasizes on learners’ encounter with authentic issues in pair or groups, on constructing interpretation by the learners in groups, searching for information about the problems in groups and facing different interpretations about the problems in groups. In other words, it is group-based teaching-learning co-operative as well as collaborative approach which, as it is evident, lays emphasis and importance on the inclusive and all round socio-academic growth of the learners and also in way has drawn insights from the concept of Multiple Intelligences as propounded by the eminent cognitive scientist Gardner (1993). ICON Model, as Tsai, Chin-Chung. 2011 and other scholars in educational psychology argue, mainly rests on the principles such as observation in authentic activities (Understanding Zone), contextualizing prior knowledge and interpretation construction (Understanding Zone), cognitive conflict and apprenticeship (Understanding Zone), collaboration (Application Zone), multiple interpretations (Higher Order Thinking Skill zone), and multiple manifestations (Higher Order Thinking Skill zone).

Curriculum is a series of experiences.
Curriculum is a process of living.
Curriculum is a dynamic process.

UNDERLYING ELEMENTS INVOLVED IN DESIGNING A CURRICULUMFlorie May Gonzaga
Refers to the structure of arrangement of the components or elements of a curriculum.
The arrangement and emphasis of the elements reflect the theoretical orientation of the curriculum developer. Technical-scientific approaches put a lot of emphasis on well formulated objectives as bases for the selection and organization of content and evaluation of learning that is taking place.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
The Indian economy is classified into different sectors to simplify the analysis and understanding of economic activities. For Class 10, it's essential to grasp the sectors of the Indian economy, understand their characteristics, and recognize their importance. We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

DISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM
4. CURRICULUM is defined as “ the instructional and
educative program through which the pupil achieve
their goals and aspirations of life”.
It not only focuses on knowledge but also emphasizes
the importance of the application of skills and values in
real life situations, participation in physical activity,
community organizations and initiatives.
There are several curriculum existing in our
educational system, out of which life-oriented
curriculum is focused now.
5. Life Oriented curriculum incorporates many
aspects of life.
Introduced in the late 1990’s in a democratic
South Africa , life orientation is a subject that
is made up of the Outcomes Based education
approach that then education minister Kader
Asmal implemented.
6. Life orientation has been defined in the
National curriculum as a holistic study of the
self , the self in society , an opportunity to
develop the emotional side of young people,
the citizenship aspects of life in South African
democracy, human rights-it is actually a whole
conglomeration of many different things that
contribute to life orientation, not forgetting the
health side, life style, healthy living and
physical fitness.
7. Life oriented curriculum guides and prepares
learner’s for life and its possibilities.
Specifically the life-oriented learning area
equips the learners for meaningful and
successful living in a rapidly changing and
transforming society.
It is one of the compulsory subjects required
for national senior certificate (NSC)
9. In 1933, a method of teaching that was strongly
advocated by John Dewey involved in students
“projects”, investigations that required the use of more
than a single academic discipline.
Dewey believed that to be educative it was necessary
that such projects present problem that awaken new
curiosity and create a demand for information.
Interdisciplinary instruction is a problem-centered
approach to the study of topics, themes, and major
questions that is based largely on Dewey’s ideology.
10. “ Inter-disciplinary : a knowledge view and
curriculum approach that consciously applies
methodology and language from more than one
discipline to examine a central theme , topic,
issue , problem or work.”
- Heidi Hayes Jacobs
(interdisciplinary curriculum:
design and implementation 1989)
11. A curriculum that is inter-disciplinary presents
content, skills , thinking processes and assessments
through exploring connections among the disciplines.
12. 1
• The way of knowing associated with any academic
disciplines that can inform the topic, theme or problem.
2
• Unit plan that focus specific topic, theme or problem
3
• Accommodate student diversity by providing for the
differentiation of student investigating and reporting
techniques.
4
• The mastery of content , concepts, facts , generalization
and principles.
13. The curriculum should be updated and introduce
the innovative way for better for effective
teaching and learning process.
Life-orientation and inter-disciplinary become
relevant and necessary in the general educational
curriculum to provide the learner with the way of
dealing with knowledge explosion and of
selecting and organizing this knowledge into
meaningful patterns and generalizations.
