Inventory Valuation
Inventory Valuation
Retailers define inventory as intended sellable assets consisting of goods that are available for resale
to customers. Manufacturers also maintain three components of inventory. These include finished
goods which are goods that have been completed and are awaiting sales. Manufacturers may also have
work in process inventory made up of goods being manufactured but not yet completed. The third
category of inventory is raw materials, consisting of goods that are to be used in producing products.
Overall, inventory should include all costs that are both ordinary and necessary to put the goods in
place and in condition for their resale. For many companies, what they have in inventory represents a

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with
it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on
hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any
merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and
other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost
means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules
(UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for
production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current
deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover
these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of
the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on
hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. This method is
applied to goods purchased and on hand and basic elements of cost of goods being manufactured
(direct materials, direct labor). This method does not apply to goods accounted for under the LIFO
method. To

Advantages Of Alternative Medicine
Complementary or Alternative Medicine also known as CAM for short. There has been a rise in
popularity in the United States for an alternate solution to the traditional healthcare option. Alternative
Medicine uses a large variety of methods to treat individuals/patients. In many cases both
conventional medicine delivery systems are uses in conjunction with complementary alternative
medicine to maximize wellness.
Complementary Alternative Medicine take into consideration the individual as a whole. Some of the
techniques used to treat patients include natural products such as herbs, herbal oils and herbal recipes

The History of Southwest Airlines
Introduction
The Southwest is a leading American air service and is the largest low priced service provider with the

which is not only damaging its reputation but also affecting its business strategies (Gittell, 2004).

Plastic Persuasive Speech
Yes, you read that correctly. Currently, I am trying to cut plastic out of my life, and so is Charleston.
Why, you ask? There are so many reasons, but I ll start with this:
By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Here s the scoop
Plastic never, ever, ever, ever, ever goes away. It will continue to break down, but it will never fully
decompose. What does this mean for our ocean? It means that more and more plastic is getting into
our waterways and ocean life is consuming the plastic, thinking it is food. Unfortunately, they are
being poisoned by our trash. They are also consuming it, and think about this, then we eat that fish,
which means we are consuming the plastic YUCK!
How is plastic getting into our oceans in such large quantities? Some of it is coming from boats, but
this is a very small quantity. Most of it is simply coming from littering. This means littering on the
beach, on our streets, etc. Think about how our litter gets blown into the sewer...then it eventually
makes it way into the ocean.
So, what can you do to cut out plastic? First, start looking around you. Becoming aware of how much
plastic you encounter on a daily basis is a huge eye opener. Plastic is everywhere. There is the the
plastic that helps you (medical equipment, your car, etc.). Then, there is one time use, convenient
plastics (straws, styrofoam containers, plastic bags/baggies, etc.).
Once you start becoming aware of what

Different Styles Of Traditional Thai Ensembles
There are two different, traditional Thai ensembles. Neither type of ensemble has a specific name,
however, they can be easily differentiated by the different types of instruments they use. One type of
ensemble consists mainly of string and melodic percussion instruments (Morton, 1976). This same
ensemble is responsible for providing music for plays and other stage acts. The most well known style
of music that the string and melodic percussion ensembles would perform is Pi phat. This expression
of music is distinguishable by its fast, flashy tempo and unique instruments ( Music of Thailand ,
2013). Pi phat is audibly recognizable by the pinai, a shrill quadruple reed oboe like instrument which
is always accompanied by melodic percussion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The origin of xylophones can be traced back to Africa and several early Asian civilizations, but it is
has a Greek name that means wood sound ( Percussion Instruments , 2015). It was greatly used in
Thailand in folk music and traditional Thai music. Both traditional and folk Thai music share similar
characteristics; both use some of the same melodic percussion instruments, and among these
instruments are xylophones. Xylophones are melodic percussion instruments that consist of a series of
wooden bars graduated in length to produce the musical scale, supported by belts of straw or felt (
Xylophone , Merriam Webster). These instruments are traditionally played by striking the wooden
bars with two small wooden hammers.
In modern times, xylophones are used in ensembles around the world. A modern xylophone has its
wooden bars, or keys, arranged like the keys of the piano and attached to the bottom of the wooden
bars are metal tubes called resonators, where the sound vibrates. The resonators gives the xylophone
its bright, bell like sound ( Percussion Instruments , 2015). It is considered to have a soprano pitch due
to its shrill sound. In orchestras, xylophones are played with four mallets instead of the traditional two
mallet method (Cherrett, 2011). They are also played using mallets of other materials rather than the
traditional wooden hammers. Xylophones can be played with mallets of different hardnesses

What Is Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Theory One of the many interesting things Maslow noticed while he worked with monkeys early in
his career, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example, if you are hungry and
thirsty, you will tend to try to take care of the thirst first. After all, you can do without food for weeks,
but you can only do without water for a couple of days! Thirst is a stronger need than hunger.
Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke hold on you and you can t breath,
which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On the other hand, sex is less powerful than
any of these. Let s face it, you won t die if you don t get it! Maslow took this idea and created his now
famous hierarchy of needs. Beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of
something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all!
In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss your water till
your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the
principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold, it switches the heat on;
When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your body, when it lacks a certain
substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then the hunger stops. Maslow simply
extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety, belonging, and esteem, that we don t
ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these needs as essentially survival needs. Even love
and esteem are needed for the maintenance of health. He says we all have these needs built in to us
genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall
development, we move through these levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire
set of needs) is on the physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after
that, we crave attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in

Global Financial Crisis Essay
The Global Financial Crisis that occurred in 2008 and crippled every major economy was not an
accident; it was caused by an unregulated and uncontrolled financial industry. Decline of Real Estate
Value The financial crisis is considered to have its roots in the United States where there was an
increase in loan losses for subprimes. Banks were lending money to people that did not have the
capability to maintain a regular repayment schedule. Homeowners only had the ability to pay the
interest on their mortgage and never pay the actual principle amount. When the interest rate began to
increase, homeowners could no longer afford the interest payments required. Housing prices began to
fall and debtors found that they could no longer afford ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The biggest issue since the Great Depression was to continue regulating the financial sector to avoid
the same crisis that the United State had just suffered. However, for regulations to be implemented
effectively, it was crucial that it was well designed; even then there was a possibility that it might not
work. Greed and vested interest are likely to hijack the politics of regulation design. In the 1980 s the
financial industry exploded. Investment banks went public giving them the ability to get additional
funds from stakeholders to spend. Investing companies began to become richer and more powerful
than ever before. When Ronald Reagan became President of the United States, a 30 year financial
deregulation began with the support of economists and financial lobbyists. The Regan administration
began to deregulate savings and loan companies, allowing them to make riskier investments with
depositors money . Hundreds of saving and loan companies failed in their investments and in the end
of the decade declared bankruptcy. The memories from the earlier great Depression began to diminish
and the government stated that the marketplace must be set free. This led to the precautionary rules to
be scrapped. Together with looser lending standards for other kinds of consumer credit, this led to a
radical change in American behavior. A New Era After the major failure of many savings and loans

Essay The Crucible
Fear can lead to a lot of things, but unfortunately, in humans it usually leads to something bad.
Throughout history, fear has lead to some of the most violent actions by man, and some of the biggest
collapses of organized society. In early American history, the people of Salem experienced this for
themselves. Arthur Miller shows this in his book. The society of Salem that Miller creates in The
Crucible shows how fear can slowly cause rational thought to deteriorate, leading to mass hysteria and
eventually the breakdown of civilized behavior. During Act I, Miller shows how each Salem s citizens
begin to realize this fear they have, and how it is slowly starting to take over their minds. This new
idea that witchcraft exists in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the people of Salem fully realize their fear, Miller shows how they try to justify this fear, but that
they are in fact becoming more and more hysterical. They now try to find a justification for thoughts
and their fear of evil. They need some solid proof to back up these accusations that they make, and
they need to clear their own names as well. So, they arbitrarily start claiming that [they] saw...with the
Devil , and that [they] saw...with the Devil (45). These unjustified explanations for their fears just
shows how truly corrupted their minds become. They start naming their own friends, neighbors, and
even their own family in order to clear themselves and more importantly to try to prove that this
witchery is really upon them, and to prove that they are not just crazy. What it really does is show how
hysteria is setting in, and how they have actually accepted these lies as the truth. While questioning
each other on the matter, their breakdown can really be seen through their quick, almost sputtering
manner of speaking: Hale: Did you call the Devil last night? Abigail: I never called him! Parris: She
called the Devil? Abigail: I didn t see no Devil! Hale: You cannot evade me...(40)
This pace at which they speak proves how they have no real justification, only that they can accuse
someone and use that as proof. They speak in little fragments that can barely be considered

The Ottawa Light Rail Transit
The Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project
Introduction:
The roadways of Ottawa, Ontario have been become battered and congested due to the poor
infrastructure of public transit. There have been many proposed temporary short term solutions for the
issue such as toll roads, public transit route optimization and rapid road rehabilitation. But ultimately,
the plan is to implement an expansion to the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) system and widen
Highway 417. There are many requirements in order to achieve such a task so, this report will outline
the guidelines of the procurement processes after issuing the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the
OLRT project from the City of Ottawa.
The City of Ottawa s first RFP was published October 27, 2011 [XX11]. The report stated that a
private sector team began preliminary research for the expansion of the OLRT system in September of
2010 following the approval of Federal and Provincial government funding before the initial
procurement process was issued. The project adopts a Design, Build, Finance, and Maintenance
(DBFM) model which allows multiple companies to place a bid on the RFP. With many options the
city is then open to make a choice the contract which will be reported on in the upcoming (sections).
Following the RFP, the City of Ottawa must choose a contract for the post. The RFP outlines the the
procurement process and states that the purchase of construction services must be in accordance to the

A Religious Point Of View
From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created
gay people by Howard Dean. Homosexuals have had a hard time coming out and making that first
step to accept themselves. The other part is actually coming out to their peers, family, and friends and
for them to accept him as well. There are many obstacles when it comes to coming out and when it
relates to Judaism. According to information published by The Jewish People Policy Planning
Institute, there were around 13.1 million Jewish people in the world in 2007, most residing in the USA
and Israel. According to the 2001 census 267,000 people in the UK said that their religious identity
was Jewish, about 0.5% of the population ( Judaism at a Glance ). As the Jewish population is slowly
increasing, homosexual Jews will be partially accepted and loved, but there desires is what is frowned
upon in Judaism law. Their desires can lead they to make wrong choices that will eventually lead to
health related issues that will affect them even further. Through the obstacles homosexuals face their
sexual morals in Judaism can lead them to have health issues later on in life.
Judaism is the original of the three Abrahamic faiths, which also includes Christianity and Islam.
Judaism originated in the Middle East over 3500 years ago and the basics of this religion were
founded by Moses. However, Jews trace their history back to Abraham. They believe that there is only

My Daughter s A Tomboy
Within the news and social media, the increased awareness and conversation about transgender and
the fluidity of sexuality has enabled people to better understand and acknowledge those around them.
However, there is a cost that comes with the increased awareness; people start to assume and
categorize people into what they perceive as a binary system of gender. An example of the issue of
categorizing certain traits and behaviors with gender is seen in The New York Times article, My
Daughter is Not Transgender. She s a Tomboy . In this article, the writer relays her daughter s

In Beard s article, she discusses the argument of how the ancient Romans viewed the Vestal Virgins.
Beard states that, Yes, it is obviously the case that religion may reflect the gender differences and
categories operating within society more generally; it is obviously the case, too, that any system of
religious symbolism may in part be constructed out of (or parasitic on) gender categories defined in
the wider cultural world (Beard 169). The statement that Beard makes relays the idea that both
tradition, religion, and society plays a role in the standards that we give to boys and girls. In relation to
how the binary gender system works within society, the New York Times article relays this concept
that Beard discusses about how gender differences and categories have influence on other aspects of
society. In the article, Davis writes that, She is not gender nonconforming. She is gender role
nonconforming. She does not fit into the mold that we adults who have increasingly eschewed
millenniums old gender roles ourselves, as women work outside the home and men participate in the

society s norm enables people to label others wrong if they do not fit in the narrow definition of what

The Increasing Weight Of The Union
The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the
international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of
the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up
with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization
nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature
of European institutional set up. Indeed, the discussion between scholars goes further towards the
characterization of the European power.
To understand Manner s theory, let us first have a look at its inspirations. The concept of civilian
power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchĂȘne in 1973. He defined it as a civilian group long on

Use of Symbolism in The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
In stories there will be objects that will constantly be mentioned within the story. This is what is
known as Symbolism. Symbolism is the use of object, name, or person to represent an idea. If a name
is being use, a name such as autumn can represent the adulthood of a human. Creatures such as an
Eagle, represents Freedom and America . Even inanimate objects can represent ideas; the light bulb
represents ideas that just sparked into a character s head.
In the short story, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, a village has just entered the month of June,
meaning that the lottery is to begin. When everyone was present, the heads of the households names

The black box holds the key between life or death for every single one of the townspeople . Inside the

death of a villager and the sacrifice for the harvest. The black box also represents evil in The Lottery .

The pieces of paper represent the fragility and feebleness of life, implies Lucas Sheelat. Paper is

What Is The Theme Of Crossed By Ally Condie
Introduction:
Crossed by Ally Condie carries on explaining Cassia s story. This time, Ally Condie expanded on her
love life and the journey to the rising. She has also brought in Cassia s Grandfather even though he is

this, it caused a more complex theme. Personally, I think the theme is, the story teaches us not only
about love but, also about taking a risk when your gut or heart knows it is right. Additionally, the story
is about individuality, relationships, and survival, and altogether it is about romance (such as the love

people including employers assume that workers over 45 are less productivities because younger
workers will keep up with rapid economic development better. This assumption can be against anyone

Essay Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
In the book, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor has moved down the social ladder to the
worst because of the loss of money. The novella follows the Marxist theory where Gregor who
represents the lower class, is exploited and eliminated. As part of the proletariat who sells his labour
power for wages, he does not own the means of production and thereby has no authority over his very
life. His limited power results in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately death.
In the first section, Gregor demonstrates the power he once had because he brought in money for the
family to spend. Because of this power and authority, he was able to get away with a lot of things like
freedom. However overall, the one with all the power is the family. They were the ones demanding
resources because Gregor was actually under them. Once Gregor was not able to work he was quickly
dropped by his family and shunned. He was sent to a room for himself and he was supposed to live
there for the time being. The family did not realize they had after begging Gregor s manager to have
Gregor keep his job. Their desperation showed the amount of power money had on people and it
determined the ranking. Without any more money the Samsa s had to work for their own and their
bitterness started to build up. This phenomenon hurt the whole family because they had lost all
consideration for the future (15). The family s first reaction to this was that Gregor had to handle the
situation himself,

Social Autonomy In Canada In The 1900 s
Between 1900 and 1929, Canada became significantly more autonomous socially, politically, and
economically from Britain and the United States; however, there were still times where Canada s
autonomy had decreased due to Canada s dependence on Britain and the United States. Canada had
gained political autonomy from Britain when it was officially and internationally recognized as an
independent nation. Economically, Canada was very reliant on British and American investment.
However, Canada s social autonomy had increased because of the first world war and entertainment,
like art and literature.
Politically, Canada s autonomy had increased greatly from 1900 to 1929. In the early 1900 s, the

as Canada s expeditionary force maintained independent from British units. For the first time,
Canadian troops were chosen to lead an assault in the Battle of Vimy Ridge. They had captured more

Rejection And Desolation In Frankenstein
When it comes to the aspect of human nature, it can be concluded that as creatures of action, often
propelled by personal emotion, it is without a doubt that human beings have continued to shift away
from society s initial and original values, which in turn, results in society s formation of a biased
judgment as they are keeping away from what they consider to different or dissimilar. Over the course
of the past decades, it has become increasingly unchallenging for human beings to stray from
traditional beliefs. Furthermore, it has become apparent that humans have been very easily motivated

Over the course of the novels, it is revealed the ways in which dangerous tendencies can lead to
rejection and ultimately to physical and mental defeat. Put bluntly, these works illustrates the ways in
which rejection and desolation affects a certain character and the epiphany that ultimately comes to
light due to the tragic consequences they face. In Heart of Darkness, Kurtz highly dangerous instincts
ultimately causes him to be more susceptible to isolation, and consequently dies, possibly as his
punishment, with his final memorable words, The horror! The horror! (164). This phrase is significant
as it is almost a sense of realization, as Kurtz, the ultimately symbol of European colonialism,
recognizes the horror in his tendencies and the ways in which he has been blind to the ways in which
it has psychologically isolated him from the people in his life and more importantly, from humanity.
Furthermore, the nightmarish outcomes of rejection are completely depicted by the influence on
Frankenstein. Frankenstein, from the minute he is faced with the manifestation of his work, flees,
claiming that he felt mingled with the horror and the bitterness of disappointment (50). This illustrates
the ways in which he initially becomes destroyed psychologically, living in fear and seeking
vengeance, and then ultimately physically by his own creation. This event is highly significant in
terms of the consequences of rejection and the ways in which natural impulsivities can lead to down
fall, in that based on the superficial details, Frankenstein had abandoned his creation and lived in
anger and depression. And through this, it is clear to readers that he truly embodies monstrosity. Due
to his instinctive actions, he comes face to face with rejection that he had

Ernest Hemingway Code Hero Analysis
A code hero is a term coined by Ernest Hemingway through his writing during the modernism
timeframe. A code hero is a character who exhibits grace under pressure, matures throughout a novel,
and fears death, but is not afraid to face it. In The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway uses Jake Barnes to
exemplify a code hero. Barnes is veteran of World War I who has to face life with the affliction the
war left him with. This affliction left Barnes impotent and, in turn, incapable of having a romantic life
with Brett Ashley. The war left a scar on the generation who saw the abhorrence man committed to
one another and caused them to reject the idea of romance. Jake Barnes is the epitome of a code hero
because he matures throughout The Sun Also Rises and finds contentment with his life. Jake Barnes is
a journalist who lives in Paris, Barnes is in love with Brett Ashley but can never have a relationship
with her because the war has left him impotent. Lady Ashley has control over Barnes, and he is
willing to do anything for her. The reason Lady Ashley keeps Barnes along is because he is no threat
to her. Brett knows Jake is too emotionally attached to leave her, but he cannot be intimate, therefore
Jake could not hurt her. Robert Cohn is a Jewish man who Jake dislikes, Cohn never witnessed the
war and believes in romance and codes. Jake is stuck in the same routine in Paris in which Brett uses
him emotionally, and Cohn annoys him. Barnes takes a yearly trip to Pamplona to watch the Running

the speech made me feel dumbfounded, amused and frustrated The Fourth of July is America s

Essay on America s Role in the Vietnam War
America s Role in the Vietnam War
Before the 2nd World War, Vietnam was a colony of France. During the war, French Indo China was
occupied by the Japanese. When the war was over, the French took the place of the Japanese in
Vietnam. In the period between 1945 and 1954 there was a struggle for independence headed by the
communist Vietminh, headed by Ho Chi Minh, against the French rulers of Indochina. In August 1945
Vietminh guerrillas seized the capital city of Hanoi. They fought for an independent Vietnam, with Ho

However the Geneva truce crumbled. Diem decided not to hold free elections. This was to his benefit

guerrillas to oppose the government forces in the south. These guerrillas, the Viet Cong (meaning:

believed strongly in the domino theory. They were afraid that if Vietnam was to become communist,
the countries and regions around Vietnam would also turn communist. Like when you push over a

this from happening. In April 1961 the U.S. signed a treaty of amity and economic relations with
South Vietnam. In December of that year the first American troops arrived in Vietnam. A year later
they had gone from 400 troops to 11.200 American troops in Vietnam. The Diem government was
having substantial difficulty with coping with the unrest in South Vietnam. On November 1 1963, the
Diem regime was overthrown in a military coup. Diem was executed in this coup and succeeded by an
army general called Nguyen Thieu. He created, together with General Nguyen Cao Ky, a military
council in 1965. During elections in 1967 Thieu became the president of South Vietnam.

Cyrus The Great Research Paper
Cyrus the Great
The life of Cyrus the Great is characterized by his major advancement for human rights, his policies of
politics, and his building projects. First, though, here is a little backroad information. Cyrus the Great
was born around 580 B.C. in Persis, Iran. His name Cyrus is the Greek version of Khûrvaƥ , means
sun like ; khûr is a noun and means sun , while vaƥ , is a suffix for likeness. He is actually the first
leader to be referred as The Great . Some believe that Cyrus the Great was a part of a prophecy(Sorat,
Cyrus ). King Astyages, the last emperor of the Median dynastic empire, which was from 728
550BCE. Astyages was told in a dream that his grandson, the baby Cyrus, would overthrow him. To
not let that happen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Cyrus never conquered Egypt, he did conquer the territories on the Egyptian borders.
Cyrus founded the empire as a multi state empire governed by four capital states: Pasargadae,
Babylon, Susa, and Ecbatana. When he acquired or conquered the territories, he gave a measure of
political independence, and they were ruled by satraps. Satraps are governors, who are usually local,
take full responsibility for the administration, legislation, and cultural activities of each province. He
appointed governor, or satrap, to represent him in each province(Cyrus the Great). Cyrus was also on
the greatest political leaders all time due to the fact that he fought against cruel and mean rulers but
was careful not to become an expansionist only wanting power. In his history of ruling, he
accomplished and worked towards the goals are democracy, freedom of expression, freedom of
choice, freedom of religion, cultural toleration, political feedback mechanism, open trade policy, and
open communications among people in this globe. His ultimate goal was total awareness of other
people. His ethical government is a means of achieving that goal by raising man to a higher state of
total awareness(Cyrus the Great). Cyrus was clearly a leader of great military ability and was a great
character of his rule. The Babylonians, for instance, and even more notably the Assyrians, had

Business And Limited Liability Company
Business can be run through different platform considering advantages the platform will offer. Limited
liability Company is chosen over general partnership to be more advantageous. Limited Liability
Company and general partnership are compared based on flexibility of business, continuity of
business in case of transfer of ownership, and also the risk of possession of personal assets and risk of
incurring business debt. 1.0 INTRODUCTION New business with more than single owner may
consider being Limited Liability Company or general partnership. General partnership requires two or
more people to agree to own and run a company for profit where management duties are shared
among them including profits and loss. In contrast, a single member can own, manage and operate
Limited Liability Company. A limited liability company with single owner can easily set up business
strategies and guidelines without getting approval from anybody. General partnerships are not
mandated to be registered with Registrar of companies. Partners are expected to disclose information

Liability Company is treated as a separate legal entity according to companies Act 1985. General

The Importance Of Religion In Antigone
In literature, authors generally incorporate characteristics of humanity in their work in order to
connect with the readers. For instance, the play Antigone, by Sophocles, is about a young girl named
Antigone who is determined to give her brother, Polyneices, a proper burial after he and her other
brother, Eteocles, die in battle. Antigone s uncle, Creon, the heir to the throne, enforces an edict
prohibiting Polyneices from being buried. In Ancient Greece religion was used as a means to explain
things that were unknown or why certain things happen. Greek gods and goddesses set moral
standards for citizens due to the punishments and consequences they had in store for those who were
treacherous. Essentially, religion had a great impact on many aspects of life including politics, overall
lifestyle, and the theater. These elements are present in Antigone because in Ancient Greece people
went to oracles to reveal their futures and in the play Creon had an oracle give insight on his future,
moreover, citizens, and finally, violence in the theater was seen as inappropriate and in the play there
are numerous scenes that do not demonstrate violence. One aspect of Ancient Greece that is also
present in Antigone is the use of oracles, who was a priest or priestess who gave citizens advice based
on a prophecy. For instance, in Antigone, Creon has punished Antigone for performing burial rituals
on her brother, Polyneices, whose body has yet to be buried properly, and after he has put Antigone in
a cave to imprison her for her crimes, the blind prophet Tiresias visits him. Tiresias has come to warn
Creon of what he has seen, See it how the city sickens, Creon, these the symptoms, yours the fanatic
will that caused them: dogs and crows all glutted carrying desecrated carrion to the hearths and altars
carrion from the poor unburied son Oedipus... But obscene vultures flap away with crops all gorged on
human flesh (Sophocles 237). This prophecy foresees that if Creon does not repent his actions, not
burying Polyneices and punishing Antigone for doing so, his city will face the consequences and soon
he will not have a city nor subjects to rule over. Despite the fact that an oracle sounds like a fictional
character used as a

Athletes And Performance Enhancing Drugs
Athletes of all ages are always looking for that extra edge to excel in their sport. Living in a world
filled with competition, this could be a challenge for certain athletes who want to progress and get to
the next level. Many athletes have a strong desire for recognition and fame. Unfortunately, that makes
some athletes who are determined to win at any cost, motivated to experiment with illegal substances
even knowing the consequences. Being in sports that require significant strength and endurance my
whole life, I have had experience with performance enhancing drugs in the past and currently. I
believe the safest way to achieve your goals is to train naturally, but many athletes do not have the
patience for that and choose to take substances that put their health at risk. In most cases, if an athlete
believes that they have reached their peak of performance or feel they are struggling to progress they
will likely seek out something to enhance their performance. Depending on their sport, they will want
to increase their strength, energy and endurance. Performance enhancing drugs deliver a significant
boost in those areas, which attract athletes to use them. Also, how easy an athlete can get ahold of
these substances is almost scary. Any athlete can simply order almost all performance enhancing drug
you can think of online. This is also a huge health risk because most athletes are unaware of the
ingredients and the source isn t guaranteed to be reliable, any site could

Capital Punishment Is Not So Easy Way Out
Capital Punishment a not so easy way out.
Is showing the country that killing people is wrong by killing other people the right way to do it?
Capital Punishment is a legal form of justice in 31 states of USA. This sentence consist in taking the
life of the accused individuals as a punishment for committing atrocious crimes such as murder, rape
and child abuse. Not only capital punishment is morally and ethically wrong, Capital punishment also
violates our constitutional rights, it also takes the lives of innocent people and it cost more to the
people living in the states that approve this punishment. Capital Punishment is should be abolish in all
the states of the United States of America.
Cost of Death
The majority of people would certainly agree with putting an end to this individuals lives believing
that is the right thing to do and probably would require less tax money. However, numerous studies
have been made on the matter and the results prove that the people who believe that killing accused
individuals saves money are erring. According to study conducted by Seattle University found that
since 1987 the five total cases in Washington amounted to a total bill gross to the taxpayer of 120
million dollars, around 24 million per execution. In three of the five cases the accused waived some of
his appeals reducing the total cost. Furthermore as reported by a Palm Beach Post study (2000) it was
found that the cost to execute some of Florida worst criminals the state needs

Effective Conflict Prevention and Management Essay
We are responsible for our actions in every situation. Choosing appropriate conflict style is the key to
effective conflict prevention and management. We use our favorite conflict style in conflict situations
but we can choose a different style when it is needed. I have never thought of my conflict style before.
The quiz provided in this course gave me an opportunity to rediscover this aspect of myself. The style
of conflict management quiz tells me that I have the orange conflict style. It tells me that I have a
collaborative style of managing conflict. Cooperative problem solving style enables people to work
together so no one loses but everyone is the winner. People who use this style try to find a solution
that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goals of collaborating style is to integrate solutions, learning, merging perspectives, gaining
commitment, and improving relationships. It works best in handling conflicts over important issues.
This mode has high assertiveness and high cooperation. It is a best style adopted to find a solution of a
conflict that would not have been generated by a single individual. This strategy works best when both
sides have trust in them and are working towards a common goal. For example, if team members are
establishing initial parameters for how to work effectively together, then collaborating mode could be
quite useful to complete a task. The Chinese proverb is even the teeth would sometime bite the tongue
. Even in marriage conflict does arise and call for resolution. I find that the conflict style with my
husband is more often collaborating but sometimes accommodating. The conflict style with my boss is
different from my default collaborating style. I think that this relation fits better in the accommodation
category which is quite similar to the collaboration conflict style. My conflict style is different in
working with boss because the accommodating style is a lose win situation as compared to the win
win collaborating style. A lose win situation is when you do things for the sake of a good relationship
with your boss, you would try to focus on his views first and put yourself next, ignoring the issues that

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules (UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for production or resale activities subject to these rules. You recover these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of the property. There are so many reasons, but I ll start with this: By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Yes, you read that correctly. Here s the scoop Plastic never, ever, ever, ever, ever goes away. It will continue to break down, but it will never fully decompose. What does this mean for our ocean? It means that more and more plastic is getting into our waterways and ocean life is consuming the plastic, thinking it is food. Unfortunately, they are being poisoned by our trash. They are also consuming it, and think about this, then we eat that fish, which means we are consuming the plastic YUCK! How is plastic getting into our oceans in such large quantities? Some of it is coming from boats, but this is a very small quantity. Most of it is simply coming from littering. This means littering on the beach, on our streets, etc. Think about how our litter gets blown into the sewer...then it eventually makes it way into the ocean. So, what can you do to cut out plastic? First, start looking around you. Becoming aware of how much plastic you encounter on a daily basis is a huge eye opener. Plastic is everywhere. The origin of xylophones can be traced back to Africa and several early Asian civilizations, but it is has a Greek name that means wood sound ( Percussion Instruments , 2015). It was greatly used in Thailand in folk music and traditional Thai music. Both traditional and folk Thai music share similar characteristics; both use some of the same melodic percussion instruments, and among these instruments are xylophones. Xylophones are melodic percussion instruments that consist of a series of wooden bars graduated in length to produce the musical scale, supported by belts of straw or felt ( Xylophone , Merriam Webster). These instruments are traditionally played by striking the wooden bars with two small wooden hammers. In modern times, xylophones are used in ensembles around the world. A modern xylophone has its wooden bars, or keys, arranged like the keys of the piano and attached to the bottom of the wooden bars are metal tubes called resonators, where the sound vibrates. The resonators gives the xylophone its bright, bell like sound ( Percussion Instruments , 2015). It is considered to have a soprano pitch due to its shrill sound. In orchestras, xylophones are played with four mallets instead of the traditional two mallet method (Cherrett, 2011). They are also played using mallets of other materials rather than the traditional wooden hammers. Xylophones can be played with mallets of different hardnesses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. What Is Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory One of the many interesting things Maslow noticed while he worked with monkeys early in his career, was that some needs take precedence over others. For example, if you are hungry and thirsty, you will tend to try to take care of the thirst first. After all, you can do without food for weeks, but you can only do without water for a couple of days! Thirst is a stronger need than hunger. Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke hold on you and you can t breath, which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On the other hand, sex is less powerful than any of these. Let s face it, you won t die if you don t get it! Maslow took this idea and created his now famous hierarchy of needs. Beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the preceding four levels he calls deficit needs, or D needs. If you don t have enough of something i.e. you have a deficit you feel the need. But if you get all you need, you feel nothing at all! In other words, they cease to be motivating. As the old blues song goes, you don t miss your water till your well runs dry! He also talks about these levels in terms of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the principle by which your furnace thermostat operates: When it gets too cold, it switches the heat on; When it gets too hot, it switches the heat off. In the same way, your body, when it lacks a certain substance, develops a hunger for it; When it gets enough of it, then the hunger stops. Maslow simply extends the homeostatic principle to needs, such as safety, belonging, and esteem, that we don t ordinarily think of in these terms. Maslow sees all these needs as essentially survival needs. Even love and esteem are needed for the maintenance of health. He says we all have these needs built in to us genetically, like instincts. In fact, he calls them instinctoid instinct like needs. In terms of overall development, we move through these levels a bit like stages. As newborns, our focus (if not our entire set of needs) is on the physiological. Soon, we begin to recognize that we need to be safe. Soon after that, we crave attention and affection. A bit later, we look for self esteem. Mind you, this is in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Global Financial Crisis Essay The Global Financial Crisis that occurred in 2008 and crippled every major economy was not an accident; it was caused by an unregulated and uncontrolled financial industry. Decline of Real Estate Value The financial crisis is considered to have its roots in the United States where there was an increase in loan losses for subprimes. Banks were lending money to people that did not have the capability to maintain a regular repayment schedule. However, for regulations to be implemented effectively, it was crucial that it was well designed; even then there was a possibility that it might not work. Greed and vested interest are likely to hijack the politics of regulation design. In the 1980 s the financial industry exploded. Investment banks went public giving them the ability to get additional funds from stakeholders to spend. Investing companies began to become richer and more powerful than ever before. When Ronald Reagan became President of the United States, a 30 year financial deregulation began with the support of economists and financial lobbyists. The Regan administration began to deregulate savings and loan companies, allowing them to make riskier investments with depositors money . Hundreds of saving and loan companies failed in their investments and in the end of the decade declared bankruptcy. The memories from the earlier great Depression began to diminish and the government stated that the marketplace must be set free. This led to the precautionary rules to be scrapped. Together with looser lending standards for other kinds of consumer credit, this led to a radical change in American behavior. A New Era After the major failure of many savings and loans ... Throughout history, fear has lead to some of the most violent actions by man, and some of the biggest collapses of organized society. In early American history, the people of Salem experienced this for themselves. Arthur Miller shows this in his book. The society of Salem that Miller creates in The Crucible shows how fear can slowly cause rational thought to deteriorate, leading to mass hysteria and eventually the breakdown of civilized behavior. So, they arbitrarily start claiming that [they] saw...with the Devil , and that [they] saw...with the Devil (45). These unjustified explanations for their fears just shows how truly corrupted their minds become. Abigail: I never called him! Parris: She called the Devil? Abigail: I didn t see no Devil! The Increasing Weight Of The Union The increasing weight of the Union since its creation in 1951 has elevated the community to the international stage as an indubitable power and encouraged the debate about the characterization of the EU, fostered by the involvement from European political science scholars. Scholars have came up with a sui generis definition of the EU in the sense that it neither is an intergovernmental organization nor a federal state.4 Still, the novelty of the Union does not bound itself to the definition of the nature of European institutional set up. The concept of civilian power (CP) was mostly developed by F.DuchĂȘne in 1973. • 28. Essay Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis In the book, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor has moved down the social ladder to the worst because of the loss of money. The novella follows the Marxist theory where Gregor who represents the lower class, is exploited and eliminated. As part of the proletariat who sells his labour power for wages, he does not own the means of production and thereby has no authority over his very life. His limited power results in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately death. In the first section, Gregor demonstrates the power he once had because he brought in money for the family to spend. Because of this power and authority, he was able to get away with a lot of things like freedom. However overall, the one with all the power is the family. They were the ones demanding resources because Gregor was actually under them. Once Gregor was not able to work he was quickly dropped by his family and shunned. He was sent to a room for himself and he was supposed to live there for the time being. The family did not realize they had after begging Gregor s manager to have Gregor keep his job. Their desperation showed the amount of power money had on people and it determined the ranking. Without any more money the Samsa s had to work for their own and their bitterness started to build up. This phenomenon hurt the whole family because they had lost all consideration for the future (15). The family s first reaction to this was that Gregor had to handle the situation himself, ... American radio companies diminished Canada s sense of social autonomy because they were far too big for Canadian radio stations to compete with. Over the course of the past decades, it has become increasingly unchallenging for human beings to stray from traditional beliefs. Put bluntly, these works illustrates the ways in which rejection and desolation affects a certain character and the epiphany that ultimately comes to light due to the tragic consequences they face. In Heart of Darkness, Kurtz highly dangerous instincts ultimately causes him to be more susceptible to isolation, and consequently dies, possibly as his punishment, with his final memorable words, The horror! The horror! (164). This phrase is significant as it is almost a sense of realization, as Kurtz, the ultimately symbol of European colonialism, recognizes the horror in his tendencies and the ways in which he has been blind to the ways in which it has psychologically isolated him from the people in his life and more importantly, from humanity. Furthermore, the nightmarish outcomes of rejection are completely depicted by the influence on Frankenstein. Frankenstein, from the minute he is faced with the manifestation of his work, flees, claiming that he felt mingled with the horror and the bitterness of disappointment (50). This illustrates the ways in which he initially becomes destroyed psychologically, living in fear and seeking vengeance, and then ultimately physically by his own creation. This event is highly significant in terms of the consequences of rejection and the ways in which natural impulsivities can lead to down fall, in that based on the superficial details, Frankenstein had abandoned his creation and lived in anger and depression. For instance, the play Antigone, by Sophocles, is about a young girl named Antigone who is determined to give her brother, Polyneices, a proper burial after he and her other brother, Eteocles, die in battle. Antigone s uncle, Creon, the heir to the throne, enforces an edict prohibiting Polyneices from being buried. In Ancient Greece religion was used as a means to explain things that were unknown or why certain things happen. Greek gods and goddesses set moral standards for citizens due to the punishments and consequences they had in store for those who were treacherous. Essentially, religion had a great impact on many aspects of life including politics, overall lifestyle, and the theater. These elements are present in Antigone because in Ancient Greece people went to oracles to reveal their futures and in the play Creon had an oracle give insight on his future, moreover, citizens, and finally, violence in the theater was seen as inappropriate and in the play there are numerous scenes that do not demonstrate violence. One aspect of Ancient Greece that is also present in Antigone is the use of oracles, who was a priest or priestess who gave citizens advice based on a prophecy. For instance, in Antigone, Creon has punished Antigone for performing burial rituals on her brother, Polyneices, whose body has yet to be buried properly, and after he has put Antigone in a cave to imprison her for her crimes, the blind prophet Tiresias visits him. Tiresias has come to warn Creon of what he has seen, See it how the city sickens, Creon, these the symptoms, yours the fanatic will that caused them: dogs and crows all glutted carrying desecrated carrion to the hearths and altars carrion from the poor unburied son Oedipus... But obscene vultures flap away with crops all gorged on human flesh (Sophocles 237).
