Rome in The Age of Augustus
30 BC ~ Octavian was given the title of Imperator, which was used in the Eastern provinces.
Imperium suggests unlimited imperium (or power) (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was the
first of many titles that were to be given to Octavian after his defeat of Mark Antony in 31 BC at the
Battle of Actium. It indicates that the provinces thought Octavian was worthy of being honoured, and
that the power he possessed at the time should remain his. Therefore this was the first factor that
initiated the rise of Octavian.
28 BC ~ During the struggle between Octavian and Antony, both men had purged the Senate of those
who they viewed as posing a threat to them and who might initiate a revolt. These men were often
replaced with loyal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) The Senate s reaction to Octavian s transfer of power to them was
to beseech Octavian to reverse his decision. After an initial refusal, Octavian accepted their offers,
which left him in a much more powerful place than before. There were two main elements to Octavian
s new position; these were the office of Proconsul and Consul. Proconsul was a position held for 10
years, and granted control over Spain, Gaul, Syria, Cilicia, Cyprus and Egypt, as well has having the
right to appoint legates, make war and conclude treaties. These areas of the empire were in need of the
most defence; therefore, the majority of the Roman army was stationed there. Octavian s control over
these regions now extended to the control of a large section of the Roman army. A Consul was elected
annually and had authority over Rome and Italy. There were several provinces belonging to the
Roman people, and Octavian used his position as Consul to claim power over the proconsuls of such
provinces. He also now had considerable influence over the Senate and the assembly of Roman
citizens. (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) Virgil indicates that Octavian already had the support of
the Senate and the people well before this time, The battle of Actium [31 BC] ... On one side Augustus
Caesar [Octavian] ... the Senate and the people with him (Aeneid). Virgil was writing when the events

Figurative Language In Emily Dickinson s Poems
A famous poet named Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830. She was well known for
writing in quatrains and using slant rhyme in her poetry. Figurative language played a huge role in
emphasizing the meaning of her poems, she also used dashes to highlight words. The poem I heard a
Fly buzz when I died mainly described her deathbed scene. She used imagery to describe how the
room looked and how inaudible the room she occupied was, because she could hear a fly. Dickinson
used many sound elements in her well known poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died . One example
would be slant rhyme which is a type of rhyme formed by words with similar, but not identical
sounds. This helps shape the poem s meaning because the poem flows together ... Show more content

One literary element she often used in her poetry is imagery which are words that are visually
descriptive or figurative language. By using imagery Dickinson made readers imagine how death is
like for her, she also creates tension to describe how intense that moment was. I could not see to see
(line 20) . would be classified as imagery because it gives readers an idea about her emotions at that
exact moment. Another literary element is mood. The mood is something Dickinson focuses on, and
tries to make clear. Depressing would count as the mood, because she says certain distressing things
about how she feels toward the subject of death. One last example of a literary element Dickinson
used in her poem is simile. A simile is when you compare two things using the words like or as . The
line The Stillness in the Room Was like the Stillness in the Air (lines 2 3) would count as a simile
because she is comparing two alike things, death and air. She s describing how silent she thinks death
really is, maybe even peaceful. Many themes can be interpreted by reading the poem I heard a Fly
buzz when I died but two themes seem to stick out. Mortality and family. Family is a big part of a
deathbed scene. Dickinson uses the theme mortality in the poem to explore all kinds of thing about
death. She thinks about how it feels, happens, what we expect

Compare And Contrast The Landlady And Lamb To The Slaughter
In stories, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe, The Landlady and Lamb to the Slaughter both by
Roald Dahl, ideas of guilt and sanity prevail. In these short stories, the lack of guilt and insanity create
a mental state which not only allows them to commit their crimes but also to do so without remorse.
Poe uses close description and large amounts of figurative language to bring through the ideas of trust,
insanity, lack of guilt and perfect crimes . In contrast, Roald Dahl uses other figurative language
techniques such as juxtaposition and foreshadowing.
In all three horror stories Roald Dahl and Poe explore the lack of guilt. There are direct references to
the lack of guilt in The Tell Tale Heart and Lamb To The Slaughter. In addition to

Music In The Movie Jaws
Music is such an important component to a film. It changes the delivery of a scene and how the
audience reacts to a scene. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie Jaws.
In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience. Parts
that I will mention includes the music when the shark was approaching the boy, when the camera
zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids. Dialogue helps
the viewer know what is helping in a scene but music adds something more, the feelings. Jaws is most
notorious for the iconic theme song. The shark attack scene would not be the same without it. I have
personally never watched this movie

The British East India Company
The British East India Company was an English and later (from 1707) British joint stock company
formed for pursuing trade with the East Indies but which ended up trading mainly with the Indian
subcontinent.
The East India Company traded mainly in cotton, silk, indigo dye, salt, saltpetre, tea and opium.
Shares of the company were owned by wealthy merchants and aristocrats. The government owned no
shares and had only indirect control. The Company eventually came to rule large areas of India with
its own private army, exercising military power and assuming administrative functions. Company rule
in India effectively began in 1757 after the Battle of Plassey and lasted until 1858 when, following the

The Mughal convoy included the treasure laden Ganj i Sawai, reported to be the greatest in the
Mughal fleet and the largest ship operational in the Indian Ocean, and its escort, the Fateh

up with the Fateh Muhammed some days later, and meeting little resistance, took some Ā£50,000 to

The Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II and his allies fought against the British East India Company
during his early years (1760 1764), he only accepted the protection of the British in the year 1803,
after he was blinded by his enemies and deserted by his subjects.
The Company continued to experience resistance from local rulers during its expansion. Robert Clive
led company forces against Siraj Ud Daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal, Bihar, and
Midnapore district in Orissa to victory at the Battle of Plassey in 1757, resulting in the conquest of
Bengal. This victory estranged the British and the Mughals, since Siraj Ud Daulah was a Mughal

Fantasy Sports Negative Effects On Society
Fantasy sports are huge in North America yet it has it is a huge epidemic. Many people are for it
because of it bringing in new viewers to the games. On the other side of the argument people are
against because they find it gambling just over sports instead of a poker game. Fantasy sports is bad
for sports because it destroys the relation between team and fan also, has a negative effects on the
fantasy sports users lives, and the marketing scheme is manipulative.
Casinos are not accepting of fantasy sports because it takes away its business. Before there were

Watership Down Heroic Epic Essay
Not Your Typical Superhero Story
Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cat Woman; when you hear the word hero or
heroine that is who you think of. The most famous heroes of all time, as well as the not so famous
heroes such as Hazel, fit the archetype of a hero; they are all courageous, resourceful, and strong
willed. Most people don t notice that almost all action/adventure movies and novels are the same. All
of their stories fit the archetypal pattern of a heroic quest. A heroic quest consists of twelve steps that
the hero completes throughout his or her journey. In this essay, I will be explaining the parallels
between Watership Down by Richard Adams and the archetypal pattern of a heroic quest; as well as

The Colonial Rule Of Under The United Nations ( Un )...
In 1918, under the United Nations (UN) mandate, Britain occupied Tanganyika and Zanzibar, at the
same time adding subsidies to the education system previously under German control. In contrast, the
people in Tanganyika did not appreciate the colonial education; they instead, viewed it as an
interruption of their agricultural routines, as it favored the colonial regime s benefit, instead of the
indigenous people (Ingham, 2013). In the meantime, education fashioned aristocracies and servers,
where indigenous became servants to the colonial rulers (lords) In addition, the colonial rulers
replaced the tradition of Tanganyikan with foreign values (Nyerere, 1967) through education they
provided. The first Secondary school in Tanganyika opened in 1930, exactly, 50 years after the
colonial powers came to Tanganyika. Fifteen years later, after World War II in 1945, Tanganyika
owned that same a single secondary school offering education for ordinary level in four years and
contained only six students. Additionally, by 1954, less than 10% of children from Tanganyika were in
schools (Nyerere, 1967), and during independence in 1961, the country had 490,000 students with
four years level primary school graduated (Nyerere, 1967). By that time, the Index Mundi website
reports the approximate population of 10,373,270 in Tanganyika (Index Mundi). Among the
population, the UN website specifies that 4, 600,000 or 45% of the population were children at the age
of 0 14 (The UN Website).

The Cost Of The United States
An increase in the number of vacation days or limiting the hours worked in a week by the government
may increase the quality of life by providing more leisure time. However, the overall quality of life
would struggle because in this day and age one has to have money to have a good time. Recently after
much debate, the French eliminated their 35 hour workweek limit with strong justifiable arguments by
both parties. The law was first put in place in 2000 due impart to the unemployment rate that was
around 10% at the time. Ideally with shorter workweeks companies would have to hire more
employees to maintain current outputs. Although, in recent years it has become apparent that instead
of lowering the unemployment rate, it has remained near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite having an extremely productive American companies are hesitant to open factories in France
when they may have to pay workers more than they would in America because of operating cost of
after an employee works 35
5
hours. With companies paying less overtime more foreign investments would be made creating jobs
and lowering unemployment would increase the quality of life as a nation as with greater disposable
income the quality leisure time itself would rise.
Ethical Hazards
While agreeing that with the elimination of the law, restrictions should still be enforced to protect
workers from exploitation by their employers. Giving companies more of an edge in their industries
by tampering with the workweek hours could become a slippery slop. The 35 hour week was not just
35 hours and everyone goes home it s like the standard 40 hour week the United States recognizes.
After the 35 hours overtime pay is required which can cost companies millions and if not kept in
check companies could cut their operation cost to an all time low.
Ethically speaking companies should protect their workers from being overworked, but in reality some
of these companies are the same ones with sweatshops in 3rd world nations. The world is money
driven plain and simple. If allowed, companies will either overwork an employee or find one that they
can. Care for quality of life in the business world is a relatively new concept thanks to laws and
demands by customers.

What Are The Major Causes Of Conflict In The Workplace
What are the major causes of conflict in the workplace? Is conflict always negative? Explain your
position. What are some effective ways of preventing destructive conflict in the workplace? When you
are trying to negotiate a workplace conflict through to a win win solution, what steps do you follow?
What pitfalls do you need to avoid? Explain.
The workplace is an environment that can be a source of conflict. In the workplace environment it is
important to realize the causes of conflicts, effective ways to prevent destructive conflicts and
different problem solving techniques for conflicts. A conflict is when a person is or is about to cause
harm or damage to something else another person cares about (Lamberton Minor, 2014). Additionally,
conflict can be viewed in a constructive or destructive manner (Lamberton Minor, 2014). Conflict are
a common part of the workplace environment (Oore, Leiter, LaBlanc, 2015). There are four major
sources of conflict; content, values, negotiation of selves and institutionalized (Lamberton Minor,
2014). Context conflict are related to a disagreement on content or the correct actions associated with
ideas (Lamberton Minor, 2014). Were as values conflicts relate to a disagreement on beliefs or values

My Life Of Being A Teacher Essay
Growing up I always dreamed of being a teacher. I soon realized that I would not be fit for that job.
Once I broke my arm being in the hospital fascinated me. There was so many things to see. As I got
older I did a lot research and came across one job that really caught my eye. A surgical technologist. I
never knew that there was such a thing. The best part was, I got to observe and the surgery I saw was
life changing. After doing some research, I contacted a friend whom is a surgical technologist. I was
so curious to know what it was like. She told me that she s seen so many different fascinating things.
Later on, she gave me her bosses number so I could contact her. I began to ask her boss many
questions and she eventually told me I could come in and observe. I was so excited. I could hardly
wait. I was finally going see something I never thought I would. Before I could do anything though, I
had to fill out a ton of papers. Some of the statements on the paper had me a little worried. Like how I
could catch a disease if I wasn t careful in there. The next morning, I got up early and got ready to go
watch surgeries. I was so excited I got there an hour early. Walking into the hospital was a little nerve
wracking. I had no clue where anything was, or who anyone was. When I finally reached my
destination, they took me to the lockers. There I changed into scrubs, a hair net, shoe covers and a
mask to cover my face. At first, I was confused on why I need shoe covers but one

Legacy Of The Whitlam Government
The legacy of this government was that it instigated major changes in the social and cultural fabric of
Australia but it also challenged the philosophy of what an Australian is and what Australia
represented. The late 1960s and early 1970s were times of great change. Perspectives and acceptances
about imperialism, women s liberation, racism, ideology, religion, war, morality, social responsibility
and the natural environment were changing for a great many people throughout the world. Some
issues were long term political debates that had been presented previously but not received enough
support for legislative change.

The children of the post war baby boom were reaching or nearing adulthood, Australia had a large
youth population and in typically ALP seats like Whitlam s own seat of Werriwa the youth population
was very high (6). The withdrawal of troops from Viet Nam and the end of conscription were also
issues that affected the youth of Australia.
Another legacy of the Whitlam Government is found in the support and improvements offered to
women. Soon after the Whitlam government came to power issues relating to rights and status of
women were either supported or addressed by the Government. This included the rights and requests
for equal pay for equal work, for maternity leave, amendments to the Public Services Act, grants for
family planning centres, more affordable availability of the contraceptive pill and a supporting
mothers pension for women who were the sole parent (7).
The anti racist philosophy forwarded by the Whitlam Government marked a major change in the ALP
and the White Australian ideology. The Racial Discrimination Bill 1975 represented a major
achievement of the Whitlam Government that effected immigration, indigenous affairs and rights,
international politics and the beginning of the multiculturalism policy.
Two other of the major policy changes instigated by the Whitlam Government were the introduction
of free tertiary education and the introduction of free medical services under Medicare.
The Whitlam Government also brought changes in the

The Tradition Of The Church Of Christ
Introduction Over the years, many people have seen their lives transformed spiritually through their
practices and adherence to the application of scriptures, prayer and spiritual traditions. Therefore,
churches express their spirituality through different traditions and practices based on the emphasis
placed on that particular tradition. Fundamentally, in identifying these traditions Richard Foster placed
them in six categories, namely, contemplative, holiness, charismatic, social justice, evangelical, and
incarnation. Although, these traditions are central to our Christian faith each church has demonstrated
a tendency to prefer the practice of one over the other (Spiritual Formation, in Class notes, 2013).

In addition, the holiness tradition emphasizes imitating the character and nature of Jesus. In which
Jesus laid the foundation on which the church live. The evidence is established in the accountability of
its members in keeping with the standards in the Bible. I Peter 1:16 (NIV) Be Holy because I am holy.
Hence, each member strives to purify and sanctify their lives through the renunciation of shameful and
sinful ways. Therefore, the focus is conforming to the standard of Jesus, to reflect his glory. Further,
the church continues to strive in their efforts to live a virtuous life despite discouragement,
temptations, doubt and fears that might distract them at times (Spiritual Formation, in class notes,
2014).
Explain three ways in which that tradition is practiced
Three ways in which the evangelical and holiness tradition are practice is as follows, application of the
word, discipleship and living a virtuous life. In applying the word to their daily lives the Church is
edified as they grow more into the likeness of Christ. A central aspect of this is reading the Bible each
day and living according to it. Notwithstanding, the word comes to the church in many ways. Through
preaching and teaching, encouragement or rebuke from brothers and sisters or others around us.
Central to the teachings of the Church is that the word is applicable to

Panorama: Behind the scenes by Julian Charriere demonstrates how humans have manipulated the
state of nature considerably, to the extent where we are compelled to create our own vision of nature.
At first, the video administers the impression of a still image which consists of a conventional
mountain covered in snow. As the video continues, the audience detects a white man pouring a white
substance on the mountain. At this point, we recognize that this mountain is an illusion created with
soil while the snow is comprised of flour and fire distinguisher foam. The purpose of this art piece is
to lure the audience into the exposure of the truth about climate change. Julian Charriere shot this
piece with the intention to mislead the audience in viewing the mountain by using their expectations
against them. Notably, in 2016, studies have shown that this year was the hottest year in history. As we

Penalties for Driving Under the Influence Essay
DUIs have blindly taken lives of citizens, and the punishment for this crime does not meet its
destruction. In Mississippi, the first offense of a DUI carries only a ninety day license suspension.
Drunk drivers kill people every year. If DUI punishment became stricter, and careless drunk drivers
paid the full consequence of their wrongdoing, the number of people killed by drunk drivers would
decrease. Some argue that if the government strengthened DUI laws, it would have an economically
negative effect on a city s social drinking aspect; however, DUI laws would have a direct effect on
repeated offenders and drinkers who disregard the law.

Lee explains that even though offenders get punished, they still disregard the law: Only until the time
comes that we recognize that drunk driving should have serious consequences on the first offense
(license taken away, car impounded, jail time, higher insurance rates) will we be able to reduce drunk
driving and make ourselves safer (Lee). As long as DUI punishment for first offenders remains the
same, people will continue to ignore the law. If the government made stricter DUI laws, then people
would think twice before driving under the influence. In an online newspaper at New Mexico Tech, an
editor tries to convince a people that getting in vehicles while intoxicated puts lives in danger. In
Victoria Carreon s article, The Social Consequences of Drinking and Driving, she reminds her fellow
students of what they should think about while drinking: One tip is simply to not drive after drinking
and to remember that even a small amount of alcohol can make a difference (Carreon). A person s
BAC can become to high to drive by drinking as little as one beer. Lives lost in drunk driving can
decrease if people under the influence would know whether or not they should drive. Law
enforcement faces the problem of having repeat offenders on the road after their first offense. In the

This paper is an analysis of the books of 1 and 2 Kings. It will examine their authorship, structure,
flow, and themes. In addition, it will compare their content to the writings of 1 2 Chronicles, Isaiah,
and extra biblical writers who speak of the same events. Lastly, it will examine the author s place in
history as a historian and theologian. AUTHORSHIP Since writer or writers of Kings did not include
their name on the document, their identity is unknown. The rabbis in the Midrash Baba Bathra 15a
attributed the authorship to the prophet Jeremiah on the basis that 2 Kings 24:18 25:30 was identical to
Jeremiah 52. Traditionally, Christian scholars accepted this explanation without much qualm.
However, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, scholars took the view that
someone edited Kings from already existing works. Since the theme of following the Law of Moses
recorded in the book of Deuteronomy runs throughout Genesis 2 Kings, most scholars title the person
or persons who did the writing and editing of these books the Deuteronomist. This paper will refer to
the writer of 1 2 Kings as the Deuteronomist in keeping with scholastic tradition. Some scholars
believe the Deuteronomist wrote during or after the Babylonian exile. A writing of the end of 2 Kings
during the beginning of the exile is plausible but not later than the start of the exile. A comparison of 1
2 Kings and Chronicles proves this theory. Chronicles was written after the

The Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives
TThe proposal I have selected is the Vancouver Island Eco Initiatives Request Proposals VIEI 11 02 ,
this proposal talks about creating a support system for the students at Camosun College. It is
economically friendly in the way that the re use, recycle method would be put into place at both
campuses. The proposal itself says that it will create financial support for students at both campuses,
but has very poor English and vocabulary, and the main point is not made clear. Of what I could
understand the individual who wrote this paper wants to set up a student funded flea market of sorts,
where students could buy tables from Costco that cost $20 and sell their textbooks, non perishable
food items, etc at reasonable prices to other students. I recommend for this proposal that whoever
wrote it, go back and go through spell check, as words like money were spelled incorrectly all the way
through, and that a lot of their vocabulary is very basic and hard to follow or understand. The Plan
section seems more like a budget than anything else, it doesn t tell you how the student society will be
brought into the mix as it mentioned in the Introduction, or how they will garner the attention of
students to volunteer and spend the $20.00 on the table, or how the 8 000.00 a year will be distributed
among everyone involved. I recommend that the writer re visit The Plan section and actually add in a
more detailed plan, including how they plan on getting students involved,

Similarities Between Julius Caesar And Gaius Marius
I came, I saw, I conquered. These words embody both Caesar s demeanor towards his triumph at the
Battle of Zela (47 B.C) as well as Gaius Marius demeanor towards his triumph at the Battle of Aquae
Sextiae (102 B.C). Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, will later embody the spirit
of Julius Caesar and Gaius Marius throughout his military campaign in the War of 1812 as well as his
presidency (1829 1837). President Jackson s unprecedented imprint upon American politics and the
presidency has exposed viewers to analyze few similarities portrayed from both Julius Caesar and
Gaius Marius. Although the similarities portrayed between President Jackson and Gaius Marius were
immense, based on their executive power, the similarity between Julius Caesar and Andrew Jackson
were substantially greater.
To illustrate, Jackson s rise to sovereignty, like Caesar and Marius, began in the military where he was
positioned as a war General and gradually rose to a politician, stimulating innovation and reform.
Throughout his rise to politics, he advanced a new vision of the President as the direct representative
of the people make him the Consul Caesar of his time. Andrew Jackson became the advocate of the
people, and was commonly considered by historians to have been one of the nation s most vigorous
and powerful chief executives. During the 1800 s, America directed towards, Suffrage [expanding

Magna Carta Sealing
C. Sealing of the Magna Carta
In May 1215, a group of leading nobles renounced their homage to King John, and this large scale
defection to the rebel cause following the capitulation of London aroused a sentiment of negotiation in
the king, who agreed to meet the rebels at Runnymede to negotiate peace. Until this point, many of the
rebels just wanted John I to be dethroned outright, but King John handing out the metaphorical olive
branch allowed more moderate thought to gain momentum. Some began to hope that the king was
being genuine in his repentance and thusly, a group of moderates anxious to end the rebellion, argued
for compromise and their terms of settlements were the Magna Carta. It is likely that the terms were
hurriedly assembled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

upon a king by violence and fear and under the threat of excommunication that the king not dare to

void of all validity forever . After this, the Magna Carta lost the support of the English clergymen,
who had originally been on the side of the rebels. In late 1215, the charter disappeared, and civil war
broke out. Louis of France was proclaimed king by the barons and they aided him in his invasion of
England. John I died on the 12th of November ending the ongoing civil war, and his nine year old

Ticketing for Small Amounts of Marijuana in Canada
The Conservative government is considering making legal changes the allow police to, instead of
laying charges, issue ticket to those caught with tiny amounts of marijuana. However, these legal
changes should not be interpreted as either a legalization or decriminalization of marijuana. Rather
they should be interpreted as additional enforcement measures that, should they need them, are
available to police officers. Likewise, there is good reason to believe that this novel ticketing system
would only apply to simple possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana. Additionally, these tickets
would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a fine or presenting a court
option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the ability to represent themselves or
have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to be softening up when it comes to the
legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long ago passed legislation that toughened laws
regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe
Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some, like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say
that the purposed ticketing system does not go far enough and is only a halfway measure. There are
two legal issues related to this news article. Should the federal government simply decriminalize
marijuana and does the current criminalization of marijuana hold any basis in ensuring public

Family, Friends And Lovers
In the film, The Emotional Life there was a very interesting episode called Family, Friends and Lovers
. Family, Friends and Lovers reminded me of situations that I have experienced in the past. I can
honestly relate to this episode in so many ways, such as my outlook on family and friends. The first
few people that babies ever know are their family. Infants value their mother/caregiver more than
anyone. From birth they tend to form a bond with their caregiver, in which is known as attachment.
Due to their family members being the first people they interact with they learn how to relate with
people at home. Family relationship is practice to what is next; meaning the relationships people gain
with their family helps them prepare for future relationship with others. Friendships can be very
helpful because no one wants to be lonely. It is quite nice to have someone else to hang and interact
with besides family. It is great to have a friend that you can connect with. In the episode, Family,
Friends and Lovers Harry Harlow Monkey Love Experiment was mentioned. In this experiment, he
separated infant monkeys from their mothers a few hours after birth, and then arranged for them to be
raised by two kinds of surrogate monkey mothers. One mother was made out of bare wire mesh and
the other was a wire mother covered with cloth. Given a choice, the infant monkeys preferred the
mother covered with soft terry cloth, and they spent a great deal of time cuddling with them.

What Are Richard Feyman s Major Accomplishments
Tyler Swanbeck
3/5/17
Physics
Mr. Jennings
Richard Feynman Richard Feynman is heralded as one of the greatest physicists of all time. This is
mainly because of his achievements in the fields of quantum electrodynamics, and other works while
being a theoretical physicist. Feynman was also able to be recognized as one of the leading figures in
the U.S. atomic bomb program, and received many awards during his lifetime; most famously the
Nobel Prize in 1965.
One of Richard Feynman s most notable achievements was his achievements in remaking modern day
quantum electrodynamics. Quantum electrodynamics is the theory of interaction between light and
matter. Feynman did this by fixing previous mistake that he found in the overall understanding of the
entire theory. The outcome of his work helped other understand such a complex theory through
Feynman diagrams. These diagrams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to contribute to the project with the vast knowledge that he had gained through his life
works. He was able to contribute by determining critical masses involved with creating the bombs. He
also was able to invent the Bethe Feynman formula that allowed scientists/physicists to calculate
implosion efficiency. Also, he was able to calculate neutron equations that provided the needed
knowledge to create nuclear reactors.
Feynman was also able to become a world renowned teacher. He first started his career at Cornell as a
physics professor. Later, he then became a professor at Caltech, and his lectures were widely listened
to because of his achievements in the field of physics. Feynman recieved another achievement in the
field of physics called the Oested Medal, but it was now in the field of teaching. This proved that
Feynman was one of, if not, the greatest physicists of all time because he was able to achieve great
feats in both the world of physics as a physicist and as a

Romantic Music Period
Did music ever reach a point to where all restraints seemed cast off and composers had the
opportunity to express musical freedom? Similar to the emotional and intense paintings done through
this time, the music during the Romantic Period also expressed heightened passion and paralleled the
trends in art. It lasted from circa 1825 1900. Looking at the musicians during this time, the purpose of
the music, and the things that characterized Romantic music, one will see how things changed from
the previous Classical period. Many of the great, famed musicians now known today lived during the
Romantic period. Some of the better known names included Rossini, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky,
Chopin, and Brahms. Gioachino Rossini, known for his piece, The Barber of Seville, excelled in
operas. His overtures grew to be extremely popular pieces as well and are still played to this day. Felix
Mendelssohn started his career early in life and grew famous off his own overtures as well.
Connecting with nature as many of the Romantic composers, he composed the Fingal s Cave Overture
which mirrors the waves and coasts of Scotland. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky gained his fame as the most
well known Russian composer through his ballets, such as Swan Lake and the Nutcracker Suite.
FrƩdƩric Chopin had many different famous pieces with Nocturne No. 9 and Scherzo for piano No. 2
in B flat minor gaining a place above the rest. His music left him as one of the most significant
Romantic composers. Finally yet

Descriptive Essay On Beauty
I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from
using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in
nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the
beholder? I was wondering.
Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on
Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated
with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva
was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers.
I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a
garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole
body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance.
No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not
know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity,
but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka.
Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My
playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could
never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After
attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so
much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the
Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be?
After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could
see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me.
I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was
in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I
got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry.
Indradeva was already there. Before he

Leatherback Sea Turtle Research Papers
The Leatherback sea turtle being in the family of Dermochelyidae is a very unique type of sea turtle
out of the 7 8 species that there are (Foster). Leatherback Sea Turtles are the largest of the species of
sea turtles alive today. They are found in oceans all around the world and are known to travel large
distances throughout their lives ( Leatherback Sea Turtle Facts For Kids, With Pictures Video. Active

females mate several weeks before nesting season begins often only being between the ages of 8 and
15 years of age , and after mating only the females come ashore to lay their eggs (World, Seaturtle.
Leatherback Sea Turtle. ). This routine takes place during the night, and during this time the female
sea turtle excavates a hole in the sand, depositing around 80 eggs, filling the nest, leaving a large,
disturbed area of sand that makes detection by predators difficult, and finally returning to the sea (
Leatherback Nat). The sex of the egg is determined by the temperature inside the nest, so a female
hatchling is produced at a higher temperature whereas male hatchlings are produced in colder
temperatures. When the eggs do hatch the males and females go their separate ways, Female

Strength Training
The benefit of strength and strength training for footballers is well supported by research. For
example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight
training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the
players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger
players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury
risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in the quadriceps and
hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most frequently injured joint in football. Apor

These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening
muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises.
The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at
faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting
and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for
each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the
priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself.
This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between
runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the
aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill,
with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint
movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. Again, short distances
with long rests are

The Best Days Of My Life
I have lived in Columbia for all my life. I have lived in two different houses in a matter of fourteen
years. There are some days that I want to forget because I hated what I did that day, also, there are
some days in Columbia that I will never forget. For example, the day I moved was one of the best
days of my life because now I don t need to share a room with my brother. Also, seeing all the stuff we
have had in his garage that we have had for 14 years. When I was looking at all those stuff it reminded
me how special our old house was. One of my personal favorites was when I was in 5th grade. At my
school we had something called Safety patrol, and that is where we come before and after school to
tell the K 4 to stop running and to walk to the playground or the bus. Usually, after school, I would go
to my aunt s work and it would be the best time. I got to see all the different things she does. She gets
to see people at the hospital, which I got to do 1 time and the patient was the nicest in the world. She
gave me 10 dollars to buy food of my choice and I got a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Since my
aunt and my mom work at the hospital usually after about 20 minutes I would go over to my mom s
office and go and finish my homework. Then I and my mom would go home. this really reflected on
my life because after going home I learned that even though people are not as safe as other people we
can still help them in certain ways. Moving is also one of my favorite things, but the main reason is
changing schools. I changed from Lange to Gentry. When I first heard we were moving I was so mad
because at Lange I had so many. Friends that I never wanted to forget but I only knew about 3 5
people at gentry so it was scary for me. The first week of school I had to go to my friend Charlie s
house because at the time we had not moved to into our new house. During school, it was a shock to
me because at the time I did not know that Gentry and Lange look the same so, during the first day, I
knew every single room from up to down. When I got my schedule for the first time I did not have
everything I did at Lange. On my original schedule, I did not have band or AVID on there so I had to

Julian Of Norwich And The Church
Little is known about Julian of Norwich. She does, however, state that in May 1373, at the age of 30,
she became gravely ill and on the brink of death. It was during this illness God granted her a series of
16 visions that were rooted in a vivid awareness of Christ s passion. These visions were later recorded
in two texts, which are commonly known as the Short Text and the Long Text or as A Vision and A
Revelation. The former can be dated to 1370 80 and the later composed in 1390 1400. To understand
Julian and her theological account of her visions it is important to recognize the state of the church
during this era as well as its probable influence this had on her life and works. In the 13th century the
church was very much in the midst of a tension between the church defined as ecclesiastical hierarchy
and the church defined as a community of believers. That is to say that there was a growing gap
between the church s forms and formulas and the beliefs of its members. In broad terms, Christianity
tended to become more and more clerical whereas lay society tended to become more religious which
generated an increase in the number of spiritual initiatives. Also during this time there was great
anxiety amongst lay people over issues of sin, death, and a desire for security of the soul. This was
perhaps the most common and burdensome anxiety of the Middle Ages. The doctrine of purgatory,
however effective it may have been in providing consolation and hope it also caused great

The Mentally Ill O FF Ender Treatment And Crime Reduction...
The Mentally Ill Oļ¬€ender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004: Problems and Prospects by
Christine M. Litschgea and Michael G. Vaughn, is a research article whose focus is three fold. First,
the researchers reviewed the literature available on the components that have influenced the
considerable increases of incarcerated persons with severe mental illness (SMI). Secondly, they
analyzed the Mentally Ill Oļ¬€ender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004 (MIOTCRA), and
evaluated if, since its inception, has reduced the problems associated with incarcerated persons with
SMI. Thirdly, they offered recommendations about policy improvements; how to decrease the number

Lastly, they propose recommendations, these are based on the outcome of their reviews and analyses,
which include: effecting and requiring enforcement of policies already in existence, decreasing the
number of individuals with untreated SMI by changing outpatient commitment speciļ¬cations, which
would require close monitoring of patients compliance with treatment, thus reducing the overall
number of SMI individuals becoming involved in the criminal justice system at all. They also
recognized the need for evidence based programs, and additional research to investigate the actual
effectiveness of MHC s and public mental health services.
Analysis and Evaluation
The issue chosen by the researchers, is a relevant issue facing the criminal justice system. The
predominance of mental health problems among incarcerated persons in both prisons and jails present
major problems for each component of the criminal justice system; law enforcement, courts, and
corrections. The entire criminal justice system is negatively impacted and overburdened by untreated
mental illness. According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than half of all prison and jail inmates
have a mental health problem (James Glaze, 2006).

Cutting Edge Korean Slides From Middle Korean
Cutting edge Korean slides from Middle Korean, which thus dives from Old Korean, whiplummets
from the dialect talked in Prehistoric Korea (named Proto Korean), whose nature is wrangled, to a
limited extent since Korean hereditary inceptions are dubious. A connectch ion of Korean (together
with its wiped out relatives which shape the Koreanic family) with Japonic dialects has been proposed
by etymologists like William George Aston and Samuel Martin. Roy Andrew Miller and others
proposed or bolstered the incorporation of Koreanic and Japonic dialects in the implied Altaic family
(a full scale family that would contain Tungusic, Mongolian and Turkic families), now not
acknowledged by generally masters. Chinese characters touched base in Korea together with
Buddhism amid the pre Three Kingdoms period and stayed as the sole script for composing Korean
through over a thousand years (Chinese script adjusted for Korean is known as hanja) alongside the
phonetic scripts that were later imagined. Just special elites were taught for fluidly perused and think
of them, however, as the vast majority of the populace was ignorant. In the fifteenth century, King
Sejong the Great felt that the hanja were not sufficient to compose Korean and this was the reason for
its exceptionally limited use, so (with a conceivable help of the Hall of Worthies) he built up an
alphabetic featural composing framework referred to today as hangul, which was intended to either
help in perusing hanja or supplant

Frank Morris And The Anglin Brothers
Did Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers die in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay? Alcatraz is a
prison for only the worst criminals. They call it The Rock because it actually is sitting on one, right in
the middle of the shark infested San Francisco Bay. Morris and the Anglin brothers are in it, but not
for long. Morris and the Anglin brothers made it out alive. Morris and the Anglin brothers made it out
alive because they had a lot of patience. For example, in the escapee s toolkit column, it explains that
the men used nail clippers and stolen spoons to dig holes in the walls of their jail cells. It took months
to dig holes large enough to crawl through. This reveals that the men were determined to get out of
there no matter how long

Descriptive Essay About Sedona
The summer of 2016, my family decided to shake up our annual summer vacation by heading out
west, and chose to go to Sedona, Arizona. Let me tell you, this place radiates beauty. If you ve never
heard of Sedona, I ll give you some background real quick. The city IS a desert city. Everywhere you
look there s just dirt or sand on the ground and lots of cacti. But the trait that distinguishes the city IS
that it sits within a valley in the red rock. All around you stand mountains made of this fiery earth.
During our stay there we hiked along many trails through the red rock to almost every tourist spot,
some of which gave you a panoramic view of the mountains. The views appeared surreal and took my
breath away. Yes, I could go on and on about the beauty of this city, but that s not quite what this story
IS about. On this trip, my family and I got up close and personal with some areas of Sedona that one
wouldn t call tourist hotspots. The town of Jerome is an old mining town built at the base of a
mountain, that now has lots of shops and restaurants, and we decided to make this our next
destination. So my dad plugged the town into his iPhone GPS (first mistake) and we headed out to
reach our destination. Blue sky and deserted land rolled by as I stared out the window. Time seemed to
slowly trail by and we did not see signs of the town anywhere. Then suddenly, the smooth asphalt
turned to gravel, and immediately something seemed off. Are you sure we re going the right way??

The Bitter Taste Of Vanilla
As the bitter taste of vanilla extract went down my throat, I wondered how exactly I let this person
fool me. The person in question was my oldest sister. I was around 9 at the time. My parents were out,
leaving my older siblings to watch my 10 year old sister and me. My sister had convinced us that
vanilla extract tasted just vanilla cake. Since both of us were fans of cake, we were excited to drink it.
I should have seen the warning signs. She told us that if we didn t like it, we were not allowed to spit it
out or get a drink of water. We still stupidly agreed to do it. I took a swig of the extract and
immediately spit it out. My sister made me drink more of it. It burned my mouth and left me in tears.
After this horrific incident, my other sister, who had managed to drink it without problem, and I
consoled each other. My sister does not remember this, but I do and it taught me an important
message. Never give anyone, including family, your full trust. Any child that grew up with siblings
has felt the wrath of their brothers or sisters. Whether they are older or younger, siblings can cause a
lot of damage. They can teach you a lot about trust. You always have to wonder why a sibling is being
nice to you for no apparent reason. They were not nice because they loved you, but because they
wanted to do or get something from you. My siblings could be coldhearted for their own gain. I
learned to watch my back. As I grow older, I can see how this small lesson my sister taught

The Influence Of Ethnic And Ethnic Culture
1: How did sports help create and maintain ethnic and racial identity in this period? Why do you think
this happened? Be sure to include Moses Fleetwood Walker as one of the individuals in your
discussion.
There was a great many ways in which sports helped to form and keep ethnic and racial identities
during the time frame. Some ethnic groups used their culture s sports, and the clubs they formed, in
order to resist assimilation into American culture thus keeping their own country s ethnic culture
intact. While some groups made the choice to maintain their ethnic culture rather than integrate it with
America s larger culture, others had no say in the matter. The group that comes to mind are the African
American people. Contrary to European clubs that tended to fight inclusion African Americans wished
to be integrated into the American culture but were denied due to systemic racism spanning across the
country. Even when they were allowed to participate in sports it wasn t for long. Take Moses
Fleetwood Walker for instance, he was one of the first African Americans to play professional baseball
because another team s player manager refused to play games with an African American (Gems 145).
One of the few real sports avenues left for African Americans was the sport of boxing and even that
was rife with racism. The only reason Africans were even allowed to participate because white
spectators enjoyed watching the brutalization of blacks (Gems 145).
It s no wonder that in

Essay On Direct Observation Of Children
1) Evaluation tool(s) being used (Ex: Pre/post testing, questionnaires, rubric, checklist) The evaluation
of coughing and sneezing technique will use return demonstration to make sure children understand it.
The teacher will use direct observation of the behavior to evaluate the children s understanding of the
skill (Miller Stoeckel, 2016, p. 321). Direct observation is done by using the senses to observe the
children (Miller Stoeckel, 2016, p. 321). Then a rubric will be used to record the observation and how
well the children did. Rubrics are often used to determine how the children preformed (Miller
Stoeckel, 2016, p. 324). Then, to evaluate cold and flu symptoms the game will address one and the
teacher will make notes on how well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct observation of the children was used as direct evaluation because it was an appropriate way to
evaluate the children. The game was also used to directly evaluated the children because peer notes
were taking and then used to fill out a rubric. Direct questioning was used as a form of indirect
measurement to evaluated what the children learned about handwashing. 2) How is data being
collected? Data is being collected by visually watching and keeping track of how many children
learned how to cough and sneeze during the exercise. At the end we will have each kid show us and
we can record the amount that learned all the steps. Data is also being collected by directly
questioning the children to assess what they have learned. 3) How will you analyze your evaluation
data? I will analyze my data by looking to see if 75 % of the class successful learned how to cough
and sneeze properly. I will do the same for cold and flu symptoms and for handwashing techniques. If
I was successful, over 75 % of the children should have learned what was being taught. The total of
children that were successful will be divided by the total number of children to see if it was a

Canterbury Tales Research Paper
According to the video The Study of English, Chaucer was the first writer to consciously use English
to write his poems, even though he knew Latin and French, which were considered superior to English
(Macneil, MacCrum, and Cran). He was an inspector in the London wool wharf, a busy job that only
allowed him to write at night (Strohm). Chaucer decided to exile himself after being punished for
letting corrupt collectors do as they pleased (Strohm). Chaucer s exile prompted him to create what is
The Canterbury Tales; the creation of an audience that replaced his small [,] responsive and

different social class and functions. Even though Chaucer describes different Characters, which are
important to understand the medieval world, I will mainly focus on the Knight. ... Show more content

I would argue that Chaucer addresses or brings to our attention the cruel reality of the medieval world.
In The Canterbury Tales Prologue, Chaucer characterizes the Knight as a gentle, humble and worthy
man, who loved chivalry, truth, honour, freedom and all courtesy (1). This is the contrary perception
of knights in the medieval times. This implies that Chaucer was explicitly mocking the knights. He
was confronting their corrupt behavior by describing the code of conduct which they did not keep or
respect. In The Canterbury Tales Prologue, Geoffrey Chaucer portrays the social and religious
problems of his time in a very sardonic

  • 2. Rome in The Age of Augustus 30 BC ~ Octavian was given the title of Imperator, which was used in the Eastern provinces. Imperium suggests unlimited imperium (or power) (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) This was the first of many titles that were to be given to Octavian after his defeat of Mark Antony in 31 BC at the Battle of Actium. It indicates that the provinces thought Octavian was worthy of being honoured, and that the power he possessed at the time should remain his. Therefore this was the first factor that initiated the rise of Octavian. 28 BC ~ During the struggle between Octavian and Antony, both men had purged the Senate of those who they viewed as posing a threat to them and who might initiate a revolt. These men were often replaced with loyal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Antiquity 2 Interpreting The Past) The Senate s reaction to Octavian s transfer of power to them was to beseech Octavian to reverse his decision. After an initial refusal, Octavian accepted their offers, which left him in a much more powerful place than before. There were two main elements to Octavian s new position; these were the office of Proconsul and Consul. Proconsul was a position held for 10 years, and granted control over Spain, Gaul, Syria, Cilicia, Cyprus and Egypt, as well has having the right to appoint legates, make war and conclude treaties. These areas of the empire were in need of the most defence; therefore, the majority of the Roman army was stationed there. Octavian s control over these regions now extended to the control of a large section of the Roman army. A Consul was elected annually and had authority over Rome and Italy. There were several provinces belonging to the Roman people, and Octavian used his position as Consul to claim power over the proconsuls of such provinces. He also now had considerable influence over the Senate and the assembly of Roman citizens. • 4. Figurative Language In Emily Dickinson s Poems A famous poet named Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830. She was well known for writing in quatrains and using slant rhyme in her poetry. Figurative language played a huge role in emphasizing the meaning of her poems, she also used dashes to highlight words. The poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died mainly described her deathbed scene. She used imagery to describe how the room looked and how inaudible the room she occupied was, because she could hear a fly. Dickinson used many sound elements in her well known poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died . One example would be slant rhyme which is a type of rhyme formed by words with similar, but not identical sounds. This helps shape the poem s meaning because the poem flows together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One literary element she often used in her poetry is imagery which are words that are visually descriptive or figurative language. By using imagery Dickinson made readers imagine how death is like for her, she also creates tension to describe how intense that moment was. I could not see to see (line 20) . would be classified as imagery because it gives readers an idea about her emotions at that exact moment. Another literary element is mood. The mood is something Dickinson focuses on, and tries to make clear. Depressing would count as the mood, because she says certain distressing things about how she feels toward the subject of death. One last example of a literary element Dickinson used in her poem is simile. A simile is when you compare two things using the words like or as . The line The Stillness in the Room Was like the Stillness in the Air (lines 2 3) would count as a simile because she is comparing two alike things, death and air. She s describing how silent she thinks death really is, maybe even peaceful. Many themes can be interpreted by reading the poem I heard a Fly buzz when I died but two themes seem to stick out. Mortality and family. Family is a big part of a deathbed scene. Dickinson uses the theme mortality in the poem to explore all kinds of thing about death. Compare And Contrast The Landlady And Lamb To The Slaughter In stories, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe, The Landlady and Lamb to the Slaughter both by Roald Dahl, ideas of guilt and sanity prevail. In these short stories, the lack of guilt and insanity create a mental state which not only allows them to commit their crimes but also to do so without remorse. Poe uses close description and large amounts of figurative language to bring through the ideas of trust, insanity, lack of guilt and perfect crimes . In contrast, Roald Dahl uses other figurative language techniques such as juxtaposition and foreshadowing. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie Jaws. In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience. Parts that I will mention includes the music when the shark was approaching the boy, when the camera zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids. Dialogue helps the viewer know what is helping in a scene but music adds something more, the feelings. Jaws is most notorious for the iconic theme song. In 1918, under the United Nations (UN) mandate, Britain occupied Tanganyika and Zanzibar, at the same time adding subsidies to the education system previously under German control. In contrast, the people in Tanganyika did not appreciate the colonial education; they instead, viewed it as an interruption of their agricultural routines, as it favored the colonial regime s benefit, instead of the indigenous people (Ingham, 2013). In the meantime, education fashioned aristocracies and servers, where indigenous became servants to the colonial rulers (lords) In addition, the colonial rulers replaced the tradition of Tanganyikan with foreign values (Nyerere, 1967) through education they provided. The first Secondary school in Tanganyika opened in 1930, exactly, 50 years after the colonial powers came to Tanganyika. In addition, it will compare their content to the writings of 1 2 Chronicles, Isaiah, and extra biblical writers who speak of the same events. Lastly, it will examine the author s place in history as a historian and theologian. AUTHORSHIP Since writer or writers of Kings did not include their name on the document, their identity is unknown. The rabbis in the Midrash Baba Bathra 15a attributed the authorship to the prophet Jeremiah on the basis that 2 Kings 24:18 25:30 was identical to Jeremiah 52. Traditionally, Christian scholars accepted this explanation without much qualm. However, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, scholars took the view that someone edited Kings from already existing works. Since the theme of following the Law of Moses recorded in the book of Deuteronomy runs throughout Genesis 2 Kings, most scholars title the person or persons who did the writing and editing of these books the Deuteronomist. This paper will refer to the writer of 1 2 Kings as the Deuteronomist in keeping with scholastic tradition. Some scholars believe the Deuteronomist wrote during or after the Babylonian exile. Additionally, these tickets would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a fine or presenting a court option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the ability to represent themselves or have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to be softening up when it comes to the legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long ago passed legislation that toughened laws regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some, like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say that the purposed ticketing system does not go far enough and is only a halfway measure. There are two legal issues related to this news article. Should the federal government simply decriminalize marijuana and does the current criminalization of marijuana hold any basis in ensuring public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Family, Friends And Lovers In the film, The Emotional Life there was a very interesting episode called Family, Friends and Lovers . Family, Friends and Lovers reminded me of situations that I have experienced in the past. I can honestly relate to this episode in so many ways, such as my outlook on family and friends. The first few people that babies ever know are their family. Infants value their mother/caregiver more than anyone. From birth they tend to form a bond with their caregiver, in which is known as attachment. Due to their family members being the first people they interact with they learn how to relate with people at home. Family relationship is practice to what is next; meaning the relationships people gain with their family helps them prepare for future relationship with others. Friendships can be very helpful because no one wants to be lonely. It is quite nice to have someone else to hang and interact with besides family. It is great to have a friend that you can connect with. In the episode, Family, Friends and Lovers Harry Harlow Monkey Love Experiment was mentioned. In this experiment, he separated infant monkeys from their mothers a few hours after birth, and then arranged for them to be raised by two kinds of surrogate monkey mothers. One mother was made out of bare wire mesh and the other was a wire mother covered with cloth. Given a choice, the infant monkeys preferred the mother covered with soft terry cloth, and they spent a great deal of time cuddling with them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Romantic Music Period Did music ever reach a point to where all restraints seemed cast off and composers had the opportunity to express musical freedom? Similar to the emotional and intense paintings done through this time, the music during the Romantic Period also expressed heightened passion and paralleled the trends in art. It lasted from circa 1825 1900. Looking at the musicians during this time, the purpose of the music, and the things that characterized Romantic music, one will see how things changed from the previous Classical period. Many of the great, famed musicians now known today lived during the Romantic period. Some of the better known names included Rossini, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Brahms. Gioachino Rossini, known for his piece, The Barber of Seville, excelled in operas. His overtures grew to be extremely popular pieces as well and are still played to this day. Felix Mendelssohn started his career early in life and grew famous off his own overtures as well. Connecting with nature as many of the Romantic composers, he composed the Fingal s Cave Overture which mirrors the waves and coasts of Scotland. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky gained his fame as the most well known Russian composer through his ballets, such as Swan Lake and the Nutcracker Suite. FrĆ©dĆ©ric Chopin had many different famous pieces with Nocturne No. 9 and Scherzo for piano No. 2 in B flat minor gaining a place above the rest. His music left him as one of the most significant Romantic composers. Finally yet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Descriptive Essay On Beauty I had to decorate my head with flowers and was looking exquisite. My father had prohibited me from using scented perfumes. I also did not have slightest of interest in that. I have been brought up in nature. Where does beauty live? Is it in jewelry or clothes, in the body, in soul or in the eye of the beholder? I was wondering. Four chariots named Rug, Yarju, Sam and Atharva were constructed. The great father Brahma sat on Rug. Twayi and Anwikshika were sitting in Yarju. Varta and Niti were in Atharva. Yarju was decorated with beautiful flowers. A drape of flowers covered the front of the chariot. The fourth chariot Atharva was appearing like a bouquet of red flowers. I sat in the chariot Sam, which was decorated with vines and fragrant flowers. In front of me, a garland of white jasmine was hanging. I was bathing with the fragrance of the flowers. My whole body, my mind, and my soul were all filled with fragrance. No one could see me from outside the chariot. But, I could see through the vines and thorns. I did not know the logic behind bringing me to heaven like a prisoner. I was sitting with suppressed curiosity, but was enjoying the scenery of the Indraloka. Even though heaven s beauty amazed me, my mind was thinking about my motherland, the earth. My playground, the elegant forest on the foothills of the Himalayas was no way less beautiful. I could never accept that my unique mother land is less prosperous than the kingdom of Indraloka. After attending godhood, it was natural to become a lover of luxury. Hence, the kingdom of gods was so much a show off. If my motherland was a selfless hermit, the heaven was a hedonist beauty. If the Indraloka was so attractive, then how attractive Indra would be? After the discussion, I was supposed to come out of the chariot as if for a display. That time I could see without any hindrance and Indradeva could also see me. I remembered my first encounter with Indra. He was visiting my father in the ashram. His chariot was in the garden and I sat in it pretending to navigate it. As soon as I saw him returning to the chariot, I got scared. I slipped and fell while descending from the chariot and twisted my feet. I did not cry. Indradeva was already there. Before he ... They are found in oceans all around the world and are known to travel large distances throughout their lives ( Leatherback Sea Turtle Facts For Kids, With Pictures Video. Active Wild). The Leatherback sea turtle has a very critical time period in their life, birth. The males and females mate several weeks before nesting season begins often only being between the ages of 8 and 15 years of age , and after mating only the females come ashore to lay their eggs (World, Seaturtle. Leatherback Sea Turtle. ). This routine takes place during the night, and during this time the female sea turtle excavates a hole in the sand, depositing around 80 eggs, filling the nest, leaving a large, disturbed area of sand that makes detection by predators difficult, and finally returning to the sea ( Leatherback Nat). The sex of the egg is determined by the temperature inside the nest, so a female hatchling is produced at a higher temperature whereas male hatchlings are produced in colder temperatures. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury risks. These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. There are some days that I want to forget because I hated what I did that day, also, there are some days in Columbia that I will never forget. For example, the day I moved was one of the best days of my life because now I don t need to share a room with my brother. Also, seeing all the stuff we have had in his garage that we have had for 14 years. When I was looking at all those stuff it reminded me how special our old house was. One of my personal favorites was when I was in 5th grade. At my school we had something called Safety patrol, and that is where we come before and after school to tell the K 4 to stop running and to walk to the playground or the bus. Usually, after school, I would go to my aunt s work and it would be the best time. I got to see all the different things she does. She gets to see people at the hospital, which I got to do 1 time and the patient was the nicest in the world. She gave me 10 dollars to buy food of my choice and I got a cheeseburger and fries for lunch. Since my aunt and my mom work at the hospital usually after about 20 minutes I would go over to my mom s office and go and finish my homework. Then I and my mom would go home. this really reflected on my life because after going home I learned that even though people are not as safe as other people we can still help them in certain ways. Moving is also one of my favorite things, but the main reason is changing schools. I changed from Lange to Gentry. When I first heard we were moving I was so mad because at Lange I had so many. • 39. Julian Of Norwich And The Church Little is known about Julian of Norwich. She does, however, state that in May 1373, at the age of 30, she became gravely ill and on the brink of death. It was during this illness God granted her a series of 16 visions that were rooted in a vivid awareness of Christ s passion. These visions were later recorded in two texts, which are commonly known as the Short Text and the Long Text or as A Vision and A Revelation. The former can be dated to 1370 80 and the later composed in 1390 1400. To understand Julian and her theological account of her visions it is important to recognize the state of the church during this era as well as its probable influence this had on her life and works. In the 13th century the church was very much in the midst of a tension between the church defined as ecclesiastical hierarchy and the church defined as a community of believers. That is to say that there was a growing gap between the church s forms and formulas and the beliefs of its members. In broad terms, Christianity tended to become more and more clerical whereas lay society tended to become more religious which generated an increase in the number of spiritual initiatives. Also during this time there was great anxiety amongst lay people over issues of sin, death, and a desire for security of the soul. This was perhaps the most common and burdensome anxiety of the Middle Ages. The doctrine of purgatory, however effective it may have been in providing consolation and hope it also caused great ... Be sure to include Moses Fleetwood Walker as one of the individuals in your discussion. There was a great many ways in which sports helped to form and keep ethnic and racial identities during the time frame. Some ethnic groups used their culture s sports, and the clubs they formed, in order to resist assimilation into American culture thus keeping their own country s ethnic culture intact. While some groups made the choice to maintain their ethnic culture rather than integrate it with America s larger culture, others had no say in the matter. The group that comes to mind are the African American people. Contrary to European clubs that tended to fight inclusion African Americans wished to be integrated into the American culture but were denied due to systemic racism spanning across the country. Even when they were allowed to participate in sports it wasn t for long. Take Moses Fleetwood Walker for instance, he was one of the first African Americans to play professional baseball because another team s player manager refused to play games with an African American (Gems 145).
